Reviews of The Half Moon
T. K.
Superb bar and venue. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Saw The Opposition there absolutely brilliant.
b. e.
Great live music venue in a pleasant pub. Lots of history in the venue itself, good sound, the bar has a good range of beers (maybe not the cheapest in London!) and decent food. The outside terrace has plenty of seating and an outdoor food stall in warmer months, and plenty of room for us antisocial smokers...
K. M.
The Half Moon is not only a historic pub musically and locally, it is an integral part of the Rock and Blues scene , and all genres since early 1960s.
The old saloon and public bar are now just one bar going right through. The music venue is accessed easily from that bar. The garden is perfect, and the range of beer and spirits is second to none.
Please consider having a meal or a snack provided by their proffesional kitchen staff.
The music venue has hosted the great bands of the past ie The Who, The Stones and Steve Marriott and anyone who is anyone has player there. They still host big bands and great artists such as Albert Lee and Greg KOCH . Enjoy a night out listening to the top tribute bands reliving the Small Faces, The Stones and the Who. You will think you went back in time. They also support new and upcoming bands as well as comedy ! Its a gem.of a place and its OURS we are very lucky to have it and its enjoyed by all types, just for a drink and a meal or a night out seeing and supporting great bands.

Awesome pub with heated outdoor terrace. The food is fresh and good quality. The governor is an amazing cricketer especially in the batting department.
D.
Great pub & music venue. Good food (although London prices) and decent beer, too. Large outdoor covered seating area with heaters.
N. S.
What a great night! Have wanted to go to a live show at the Half Moon for years but only recently managed it... And it did not disappoint! Will definitely be returning for more live music :-)
T. B.
The best pub in Putney still but not a patch on its former self. Was a wonderful old fashioned pub in the 90s and noughties with juke box, pool table, great bands, great people. Mow it is like most of the other gastro pubs in the area but at least still has the music. Under good management again now after a few years of useless 20 something who don't know how a pub should be run
K.
Good pub with a nice little venue inside. sound was good and I liked the intimate feel, good crowd also. 5 star
B. I.
very good beers good food and great live music 👍🏻👏
S. B.
Another fantastic concert seeing Dirty DC. Superb sound here and always a great atmosphere. Wide range of drinks and always attracts a friendly crowd.

Great evening, Ms Will Cox was excellent!!
D. B.
Great pub saw the rollin stoned tribute act, great little music venue, had some food before too, which was really good, bar staff were very friendly.
Will definitely be going back soon.
R. O.
This venue is by far The Best for music, be it Jazz or other. Main reason being it has a huge bar and spacious enougn stage area and sufficient space for standing viewers.
If it were to become a strictly Jazz venue it would beat any rivals in West London.
S. B.
Another fantastic concert seeing Dirty DC. Superb sound here and always a great atmosphere. Wide range of drinks and always attracts a friendly crowd.

This is a great place to see live music at affordable prices. The back room is the perfect size to see tribute bands and others. Affordable prices for entry as well as the drinks.
I. M.
Nice and cosy beer garden at the back of the pub. Staff are friendly and attentive. Burger shack located outside and quick service via app.

Beautiful place, Great concerts and great people working there.
T. S.
Great place, friendly fun good beer, what else do you need music excellent.
A. W.
Saw a gig there, small space but wasn't over crowded. Bar has covered outdoor space, and great staff.
N. P. M.
Some of the best music on the Planet. This is Lifesigns. They've just released a single, impossible. Delve deeper and discover the whole range of awesome music they produce. #Lifesigns #Impossible Great beer at the venue as well ...
N. N.
Good venue. Friendly staff. Nearby parking usually ok in the evenings. Drinks rather expensive (£7+ for a glass of wine) but it is Putney...
N. M.
Went to the Half Moon for the first time to see Fleetwood Bac a tribute band. Great music and venue. Garden outside with burger bar, wide selection of drinks and friendly staff. Bar was a bit busy and long waiting time before the concert started.
B. D.
Good meeting place, but loud music (Disco)Saturday night,Nice Staff though.
I. M.
Nice and cosy beer garden at the back of the pub. Staff are friendly and attentive. Burger shack located outside and quick service via app.

Drinks a bit expensive. Saw the ELO tribute band ‘ELO Again’. Tickets were about £10 I think, or thereabouts. Superb, I really REALLY hope they get to perform there again!
F. N.
Great little music venue, beer on expensive side but this is a good quality pub all-round so fair enough
P. T.
Great evening, Ms Will Cox was excellent!!
S. H.
Great venue, great music - as always
T. S.
Great place, friendly fun good beer, what else do you need music excellent.
N. C.
Went to brilliant gig on Sunday their website states no social distancing or Covid regulations are practised here. However, it wasn't too crowded and the venue where live music is performed was spaced out with tables and chairs so it felt very safe!
C. A.
Incredibly helpful staff my friend and I assisted with disabilities. Recommended to all who enjoy live music. Barmaid Tara was exceptional in all areas of service, thought ahead, a keeper if you are her manager
R. J.
Great pub and well worth a visit. One of the few remaining proper rock n' roll pubs in London.
A. B.
Good pub, atmosphere, music venue & nice location. (Typical Youngs pub prices though 😮)
e. f.
Cracking place to see a band. Small, intimate and unpretentious. Favourite London venue.
M. W.
Great live music venue and decent pub with some good beers.
l. c.
What a fantastic venue, went to see john coghlans quo there. Incredibly friendly staff and a great service. The live music was amazing. Would highly recommend and will definitely return in the future.
M. P. R. M.
Beautiful place, Great concerts and great people working there.
J. B.
Great pub, which offers a good range of draught ales, lagers & ciders. The pub also offers meals. There is a music venue in a separate room.
S. S.
Fantastic intimate venue for live bands!!
With good food and choice of real ales.. What more could you want!! Oh yes a beer garden and burger van too 😝
T. W.
Think this is probably a decent pub, but I wouldn't recommend it to watch the football. Firstly we had to queue in heavy rain, despite having a table booked and putting a deposit down. This seemed to be because the guy checking people in was struggling with the system. But there was no apology. The setup wasn't great for the football, a smallish (relatively speaking) TV on a big stage, would have been ok, but there was a green light shining on the screen, I asked for it to be turned off, but instead another light was turned on. A positive was the serving staff, who were friendly and efficient. One of them spilled ketchup on my bag, but was very apologetic (although didn't offer to buy me a drink or anything)
n. p.
Great venue, great sound, great beer, great live music, what's not to like
S. K.
Great pub with live music, highly recommended.
B. S.
Great food and a great gig venue but drinks prices are ridiculous! £9.20 for a large glass of Pinot Grigio. Next door you can buy 2 bottles for that!
J. H.
Nice and relaxed bar until the entertainment starts in the back room
D. M.
Lovely pub, friendly staff. Not busy, but early.Seem to have some great evening entertainment.
C. H.
Great pub, friendly staff and live music the evening that we popped it. So good to know its all starting up again 😊
M. J.
Absolutely love the vibe of this pub, it's got a great outdoor area too. The staff are super friendly and our drinks came quickly via the app. Only downside that Young's pubs are pretty pricey, but that's up to you I guess. I don't think they'll be selling many 330ml bottles is Heineken £5.20 a pop, stick to the drinks on tap
B. o.
Great venue, seen Luther vandros tribute here (Amazing). Roast been dinner was to die for !
A. S.
Friendly staff, well kept beer and great music = like!
S.
Use to frequent many years ago so was great to return with a bunch of mates and see Los Pacominus in action. Soooo much fun.
L. O.
Beautiful pub with great live music and friendly staff.
M. W.
Have eaten here twice and the food was very nice. The staff are accommodating when we did not book but found a table we could sit at outside under the canopy. The outdoor space has a nice vibe, only thing is one of the times we sat outside the heater was not on and it was a cold day so we did not stay too long.
H. B.
Great pub good pint back in time fantastic
When is it happening again love to go.
K. S.
Hi All
Went to The Half Moon last night for the All or Nothing experience show.
Marvelous venue , show was great , very friendly staff ...ali in all , great night , show was brilliant, every one enjoyed immensely....will come again
Ken

Great music pub. Great staff, great music. Fun decor & lovely vibe about the place. But not a place for Sunday lunch. Pub should focus on getting a few simple things on a menu to perfection like a decent burger. I'm afraid our roasts were mushy & meat rubbery. Burger buns were like shaving foam. But had a nice time & would go back for a gig or a pint.
c.
We didn't have a table booked but they found us an outside spot; when it started raining the staff made an effort to help us fit under the canopy - very professional service! Great choice of beers, the burgers were very good indeed. Definitely worth a visit.
S. M.
Great venue, great beer, decent live music room. Easy enough to park which is also a bonus (tee total wife 😉)
Oh, and Led Zep 🤟🏼
P. B.
First time seeing a band here in 29 years. Can't remember the details of the last one (remember the name though - the Boogie Brothers 😁). But it was very good this time.
The pub area is lovely really welcoming and lively. Lots of people eating and the food looked good, but we didn't eat. Good beer selection.
Gig room doesn't look like it's changed in 30 years. Small, hot, sweaty and great sound. All good
C.
Great food, drink and atmosphere. Management and staff are friendly.
b. a.
Fabulous, friendly pub and venue
L. G.
Fantastic live music venue. Should be treasured as so rare! Great atmosphere and awesome pub and venue. Can 💯 recommend!
N. H.
A classic music venue - good beer also
D.
Great live music venue. We saw Southland who were great. Foods good and great atmosphere
S. B.
Have been several times for the music and seen legendary musicians Mike Heron and Jack Bruce plus lots of good bands. The music venue is small, atmospheric and usually crammed. You have to be happy to stand. The pub is nice with good beer, good service and good food. It’s one of the best music pubs in London.
S. H.
Felt safe in the music area. Only dropped a star as the toilet cubicles are very small
G. C.
Great intimate music venue great atmosphere food and drinks now taking cash again at the main bar
D. B.
In spite of the Covid restrictions I got warm welcome and good service but at £5:90 for a pint of cider how can I ever afford to become a regular again. Add a few of those onto the price of a ticket for a gig and it's nigh on a days wage. I used to drink here with my Dad and Grandad back in the early 90's but no way can I afford to do that now at these prices. Such a shame for the staff because the pub is pricing out the very people who have been the lifeblood of here since the beginning. Can't see it surviving much longer charging those sort of prices to people. Just heartbreaking because it's almost one of the last genuine venues left in London for live music. Stop ponsifying it and concentrate on the music heritage then it'll last forever otherwise it'll become another supermarket or flats. It was never meant to be either an upmarket Restaraunt on an overpriced Burger Bar selling from a shed in the garden. Not on the Lower Ricmond Road. Take it from someone who's lived here all his life and knows the local market. A music venue survives by patrons coming to see a gig and having a good time drinking beer at reasonable prices and nothing else!
J. D.
We went to the Amy Winehouse tribute kn a Saturday night and it was really good. All standing venue within the pub in a well air conditioned room with a bar also. Would definitely come here again, the main pub area is nice like a usual pub and they also have an outdoor heated area also. Nice location!
E. W. R.
Been one of London's most famous pubs for live music for donkeys years. The back bar is fairly basic but sight lines and sound are decent. Had some thoroughly memorable evenings in there. Front bar has evolved into a pub restaurant. Nice decor but I haven't tried the food. Got to mark it down on the price of a pint though. Can't remember which bog standard lager I was drinking but it was well over a fiver. They also insist on serving it in plastic beakers if you're there for the music. Maybe they thought the audience of over 50s was going to kick off at any moment.
m. m.
Lovely pub, good venue, excellent garden, good beer and top notch staff.
M. S.
Great friendly place ,live music is great but beers expensive over £5 a pint .
P. C.
Great Venue to see all types of Bands & Music. Good selection of Ales, Lagers, Gin and other Spirits. The Back room gives a close intimate enjoyable experience. Downside some punters drop their plastic glasses on the floor rather than take them back to the bar. Wooden Floor can get sticky!
J. J.
It's a nice and spacious pub. Loved the room where they have live music!
S. J.
Oh Yes! A music pub that has not gone all designer. Rough round the edges, raw, relaxed and pumping out loud live music to a crowd clearly delighted to be in such an environment. Just the right size to contain a good crowd and to create intimacy at the same time. Spilt beer, smiling faces, rock and roll, and unpretentious. When is the next gig because I want to be there.
A. A.
Fantastic venue for music, that bit would get 5 stars. However, we went to hr venue for food prior to the concert. The food wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't reasonable to expect to charge gastro pub prices in exchange for bland dishes that feature chips out of a packet. Luckily, the gig afterwards was superb!
M. T.
A terrific place to watch and see music being played, great atmosphere and friendly staff
M. S.
Great venue for live music! TOO REX ROCKED THE PLACE TONIGHT!
S. M. k.
Top night..
Great food
Great beer n
Excellent music..
N. I.
Legendary Music venue with decent food and Camden Hell's
P. D.
I didn't come to eat but I just love this place due to it's live music and the cover performances they have. Went to see The Rolling Stoned and Echoes and both of them very good - I just love that this pub does these live performances and it's not just another pub. Love seeing parents with their sons all having a blast and listening to covers of the best bands.
M. S.
Good pub, unfortunately didn't had a chance to experience the live music as the venue is sometimes rent out for private events. Would recommend to find a sit away from bathrooms as you might feel the bathroomish scent.
J. R.
Easy to order via the app, good service, great atmosphere for the game. No music yet but would definitely go again
C. R.
I'm rating this as a music venue more than a pub. I've seen many acts here, some are better than others (the best of the tribute bands by a huge margin is Stanley Dee who are twice as much fun as the real Steely Dan) and cannot praise the sound engineer there enough. The mix is always superb: it's a great music venue which puts many bigger places to shame. As to the pub itself, I've never had any issues getting served at the bar and while the prices may be higher than some people are expecting this is Putney and the business rates here are very high. I think you'll find most decent pubs in the area are expensive. I can't comment on the food as I've never eaten there.
A. S.
Always a great place for live music. The sound is always clean and the sightlines are good. The pub has a good menu and selection of beers. Lovely and warm in the winter
B. S.
I love this place great to see upcoming artists music and established artists. Staff are friendly and helpful.
A. A.
One of my favourite locals, highly recommend!
T. E.
Visited for the 1st time for an Ian McNabb show. Really nice pub, with intimate gig space.
N. J.
What an amazing music venue! Fantastic location, amazing acoustics. Loved it!
K. P.
Good beer great venue
S. H.
Great place, will be missed when leaving Putney....
A. P.
Good beer, great live music experience
S. m.
Best live-music pub in south west London. Warm-up venue for the Stones, The Who, U2 et al. Decent food too. Mostly nostalgia of great covers bands these days.
C. L.
never leave reviews Lol but had to after Friday ! Visibly stressed and understaffed the team were fast and efficient. but unfortunately the other customers were more concerned with being rude to the bar staff (everyone waiting same amount of time!) and they are doing their best. handsum quiet tall one did well handling rude customer and seemed grateful I stepped in! great night all in all just lower beer prices ;)
C.
Came here purely as we were walking past and really glad we did. If this was our local, we'd be in all the time. Friendly staff and cool atmosphere. It's a chilled pub with an attached venue, we'll be back to check out.
L. L.
Popped in here to catch some live music recently and although I didn't get much of a chance to try out the pub as such it seemed like a very decent place. The music venue itself was a really nice space that felt intimate without being claustrophobic and it seems to draw in a good range of very respectable artists. Recommended.
R. W.
Lovely old pub with a great location not far from the river Thames. We booked a table for Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly. Food was reasonably priced. I had a roast which was good but the roast potatoes are never as crispy as home cooked. Great venue for a gig. We saw Hank Wangford and the Lost Cowboys. Fantastic!
S. E.
This place has a decent atmosphere. The food is also respectable, but a little dear. There is a pleasant outside area with its own burger bar. It's famous for live music and has been for years. Check out the website.
B. P.
Good range of beers etc. Large well run pub with great music room and a variety of bands and acts. Pleasant staff. Lots of street parking in nearby streets and easily accessible from Putney main station and Putney Bridge tube station. A must visit if you want to support up and coming talent and for a good and inexpensive night out.
A. D.
5 star to Tanya, got us an amazing table on the 12th and amazing service from her! Amazing drinks! Rest recommend
P. R.
So far it's the best Pub I've met in London with a friendly staff and great tributes to great bands! a special place for special nights! the customers are also quite pleasant and follow the spirit of Half of Moon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
G. D.
Saw the new Tom Petty Tribute band and felt the vocals needed some harmonies from backing singers to support the lead singer. The musicianship was solid, the drummer and lead guitarist stood out, the base player didn't show enough personality and didn't look like he was enjoying himself unlike the other band members, the overall guitar sound was a bit too loud as it drowned the vocals. Otherwise a good effort.
D. P.
The Half Moon Putney is a historic pub and music venue. The pub itself has lots of old skool charm. Very roomy and decorated tastefully. There is also an out door beer garden with plenty of seating. Famed for its live music there is a concert hall to the rear of the building. A good selection of bands play here and monthly lists of whats on are produced. The only downer about the place is the eye watering high prices for drinks. That lets the place down.
M. T.
Great place to see live music
p. h.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, seeing the smyths there was awesome. And to top it all, they had a special on! The boy with a thorn in his pie's! It was very tasty
L. R.
it was our first time at the half moon. we went to see a band. fab night. we will be going again in a couple of weeks. the menu looked good. so I think we will eat in the pub before the music starts.
T. B.
First time here, heard of it and came over from Chingford to see The Members with Dept S. Really good night. Beers were really good. Nice bar friendly staff. Then into the gig area. Great venue sound particularly good. Well recommended for a night out. Menu looked pretty good too. Will definately go again.
J. M.
Best venue first tribute bands (and more) bar none.
C. P.
It's one of many pubs close by to us. Because my wife is in a ♿ we only tend to go on quiet periods. Nice pub but really overpriced drinks. Saying that the beer is good, but unfortunately can't afford to stay too long.
R. A.
Probably the best venue for bands in S,W.London. Good beer..plastic glasses in music area for safety reasons. Good food but not cheap, spacious beer garden.
T. M.
Cracking pub with a good selection of beers and spirits, a cozy atmosphere and a section outside for burgers and extra seating space.
There is also a seperate room out of the back which hosts a variety of entertainment which is well worth looking out for!
W. D.
Nice place went there to see Nick Mason. Good event Security were polite. Event room is a decent size can be a bit hard to get to the bar if full. Main bar is set out nicely.
J. H.
Great music venue! Bruce Juice played to tonight - brilliant!
M. G.
The half moon , was very nice last night . Good to have a drink with my friends again , bar staff very friendly as usual .great evening.
L.
I’ve visited the Half Moon several times now for live music and a meal and have been very impressed. The staff were informative and sweet and the food was incredible (I’ve had the classic burger and the vegetarian beetroot burger and both were lovely!) As a music venue it’s amazing as well!
j. k.
It was great and the band I went to see were great. It was clean and tidy staff were all polite and the beer and food were very good.
C. M.
Brilliant live music venue :(bus 22 from Green Park) good size raised stage. And I saw the awesome Grateful Dudes 2 drummers and the nimble fingereg Andy on lead guitar. And what looks likes a full moon.
G. G.
Just rating the gig event on bank holiday, I didn't have any food but only few pints (one free at the entrance, thank you) and one (quite generous) portion of 🍟 Great atmosphere, polite staff and the loo was clean, will definitely come back and I recommend if you haven't been, it is not the usual stinky pub
D. F.
Great location, spacious with a stage out the back for famous comedy acts and music. Beer garden too, been a number of times for great value comedy nights. Drinks (especially soft drinks) are overpriced.
N. B.
Really nice pub, let down by it being more expensive than most around it. Used to be a top notch music venue but now just puts on Tribute acts with the occasional comedy night. A pity as the venue is excellent.
H. Q.
Lovely and friendly staff ! Amazing atmosphere! Love their garden and house wine 💕
J. M.
First time there last night to see China Crisis. What a band ! The venue has that weloming, shabby chic look about it. The history of the place is prevolent judjuing by the photos of the once small bands who are now big in their own right. The food is excellent and was served hot and fast by a friendly waitress. The pub beverages (ales n' beer etc) on offer are many from your traditional staples to your smaller local ones. The venue is attached to the pub itself which is small but makes the experience more intimate. The acoustics and ambience as a result makes this an excellent venue ! Will visit again.
S. J. W.
First time at The Half Moon for more years than I'd like to admit to. Had a great evening seeing City Funk Orchestra with Noel McCalla and Imaani. Good music and good atmosphere. Loved it!
D. O.
This is a great pub, staff are very polite and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. It's a large pub with an open fire and a large bar area with a beer garden and a place for concerts which holds around 150 persons great food too, so come here and enjoy a great evening out 😊😊
R. A.
Great place to watch live music, good food and lovely garden
J. F.
atmosphere was strange as you can imagine we went to see Fleetwood bac .you had to order everything from your fone and pay using your fone after half an hour I sused it and it was good.
D. C.
Fantastic venue for seeing bands. Holds an audience of around 160. Average pub prices at around 5.25 a pint. Nice garden with outside burger shack.
G. J.
Really iconic intimate venue
J. H.
A little of the beaten track - but worth the effort. New Moon events on Monday’s showcases a great array of new talent - the venue also hosts more established acts, mixed with tribute bands.
M. M.
Decent pub. Nice yard. Can be very busy depending who's playing in the venue out the back. Good music venue but most acts are tribute acts.
B. H.
Great venue let down by expensive drinks and bland, overpriced food. Good for a drink, just don't order from the bar menu, particularly the mushrooms & pesto on toast, which was cold and lacked seasoning.
A. H.
Absolutely fantastic pub. Great atmosphere and even though has changed a bit over the last 10 years but still retains its charm. Great venue for music and comedy.
T. “. H.
It was getting late for lunch so we popped in to the Half Moon to see what was on the menu. Pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches at £6.50 including chips! Absolutely brilliant and more than we could have hoped for!! Definitely a winner so please give it a try.
A.
The drinks seemed a bit too pricey and the food likewise. It's a nice pub though, very spacious and with air-conditioning. Beer garden seemed good too.
K. A.
Good venue to see comedy, even at back you feel close to stage. The pub food looks tasty and they serve quite large portions too.
C. B.
Popular venue for live music. Pleasant pub but on a Friday night most people went for the music. Used to hosting various acts with the stage in a room holding about 200, a nice way to spend a Friday night.
A. R.
Great modern atmosphere, cosy and clean with perfect lighting that's not too bright. We were a group of 5 and hands down it was the best Sunday roast and burgers in London.
M. C.
A fantastic Music venue and always really good sound. BUT i was really surprised at having to pay £24 for a bottle of totally average white wine, that was not cold. So in future will stick to Cider on draft.
J. B.
Kimono - sounding tight and still going strong.
M. M.
Had been meaning to go here for a while. It's a homely pub inside and the music stage area looks great. Was let down a little by the food though which tasted a bit bland ( had the pie). Will give it another try though
P. H.
Been going for decades. The greatest small venue around and many topline artists appearing.
M. M.
Nice pub, comfy seats, good range of drinks and friendly staff. Food looked good and the music venue was excellent. One downer, the manager was a harmless soul, borderline rude, which was a shame.
M. B.
The Half Moon in Putney is fantastic !! It has a great atmosphere and they have plenty of live music, i saw a Led Zeppelin tribute band there it was called Boot Zeppelin, they were amazing, the instruments and clothes were authentic looking, even down to the Dragon Suit, it was a great night out and I've been back to see them a second time and want to go back to see other bands too, The Half Moon serves beers and wines etc and also delicious food, they do great Sunday lunches and snacks at the bar, this is a great pub and well worth a visit, give it a try you won't be disappointed. 😉

S. D.
Just love this pub... if only they were all like this..
R. B.
Service great , people really welcoming . But food ie the buns with relish were gross and expensive . But good friendly folk
A. J.
Love this pub! Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. We saw Fleetwood Bac here one evening and it was lots of fun and the band was amazing.
R. D.
Good selection of beers and pleasant space outside to sit in the summer. Inside smells like a toilet. Definitely would not want to eat food or have drinks inside. Quite expensive as for Putney, I think Barnes has cheaper pubs by the river.
A. T.
The pub is fine, the service could be more efficient and customer focussed. waiting 10 mins for service is too long. Scottish guy most switched on, a good bar person can serve and take orders at the same time! Instead is serve have a wee rest and then serve again. There is no decent kids menu - in Putney!!!!!
A. W.
Versatile, cozy, higher end watering hole. Has live gigs regularly quite alot of cover acts but he really of decent quality. Decent beer garden and selection of suds.
J. O.
Good venue for live music. Could do with reminding people who go to the gigs that they should go to the separate bar if they want to talk as chatter can be quite loud while band is playing.
S. O.
A bit of a welcome oasis in a place dominated by cafes , hairdressers, and estate agents. Good beer selection, nice vibe, and has a live music stage out back.
L. H.
Long wait for food, and then delivered half to the wrong table which meant waiting again. Food was nice but not excellent. It was very busy though and the staff were good, I'd imagine it would be great on a quieter day.
R. C.
Great pub with a nice beer garden, also a live music venue although ive not been there for that myself. Friendly staff, and good food, particularly the sunday roast.
T. W.
Really good pub. Great range of drinks. A top music venue as well. Clean and well kept
R. B.
Great venue! So good that some music venues are surviving! Shame it not nearer to me but there we go, not their fault haha
M. C.
Craig the manager was fantastic the service slick and efficient love using the app and not waiting at the bar.
A. D.
Beautiful pub and food. We also like the venue for our band, but venue management Is absent. Difficult to have an answer from them. Not a very good attitude.
H. P.
One of London's best small music venues, with a good sound system and intelligent, capable engineers. Also a cracking pub with excellent (slightly pricy) beer and good pub food. A short walk from the Thames and Putney High St, and a river crossing via Putney bridge from the Tube.
Often a venue for "secret" gigs, where very famous bands test out a set before playing Wembley or the O2.
S. C.
A great pub and awesome venue that has a long history of supporting live music. A pretty good selection of beers and good pub food.
G. W.
Great little live venue. If theres a band/act you like playing here, go, you will enjoy getting close and personal with them!
G. R.
Great music, great atmosphere, some great life music bands.
Never tried their food, only a couple of drinks, I simply enjoy the atmosphere, deco and music.
Visited for a friend's birthday celebration every year.
R. H.
Great acoustics here always and a great live band The Vibrants played their socks off too. And a great pint of course.
P. E.
I really like the venue, but 'The Guitar Legends of rock' weren't a great group, their playing was out of tune and it was difficult to recognise even tracks you knew well.
K. H.
Great live music venue & pandemic-aware
R. S.
Great venue for a small gig. Not sure about the logic of trying to hold a pub quiz while 200 people are in the pub waiting for the doors to the back room to open!
C. M.
Music Makers Festival Day 2 was AWESOME! Great Lineup, superb venue, good beer. Simples!
A. M.
Great food. Supurb sirloin of beef for Sunday lunch. Thought the price was fair given that you can easily pay over £20 for a steak in Putney, more accross the river in Chelsea. Great ales, and the manager really knows his wines.
Oh, and by the way, IT'S NOT A HOTEL
S.
Amazing music nights and fantastic packed atmosphere. I love the staff and completely adore performing on stage when I get the chance. The opportunity to get involved is always favoured. I love it!
J. T.
Saw Martyn Joseph here last night. Great little venue for a massive performance by MJ! Recommend both the venue and the artist! 🤙
M. P.
Good atmosphere and friendly service. However food was very mediocre for the prices charged. We were there for the live music but next time we'll eat elsewhere first.
V. J.
Nice indoor and outdoor area. Big open spaced indoor with cool decor. Burger van outside and reasonably priced.
B. P.
It's a great little venue with the stage across a corner of the room allowing good views from most of the room I suspect (although as I was up front I had a great view anyway and people behind had to peer past my big head.) Doors opened at 8.30 about a half hour after the stated time and the performance probably started around 9. I was watching Slim Chance, a great little outfit playing some classic songs. Go see them for (among other things) that classic Charlie Hart accordion sound I've loved all my life. I realised half way through that I was in love with it and I would be trawling ebay trying to get one the same. And so it has proved. I'm not telling you the make in case you bid against me. Check out upcoming gigs at the Half Moon. I travelled up from Vauxhall on the river boat and I'm glad I went.
M. K.
Best gig boozer ever
H. R.
Excellent music venue if a little on the edge of the world to get home if yoh live in south east london like me.good food, good beer and great bands.
N. B.
This is the place! Been rocking here for 50 years! Me, that is. So much History.
Tonight: The Trembling Wilburys
Awesome Band. Authentic. Best show in town!
D. W.
Amazing pub with friendly staff and lots of good live music. Seriously impressed with all the service received at this pub.
G. C.
What a great place to watch a live band
C. G.
Great venue for gigs. The food coming out looked good & the 2 coffees made with great care for us were excellent
L. J.
One of the great small music venues
M. 7.
Spacious bar with well kept ales & good service, great live music venue
a. a.
Nice gig friends band played there close to the action good sound friendly staff avoid the on tap coke if your driving 😝
R. E.
Went to watch rugby. We booked a table but there was no record of it. No problem though as the staff got us a great table by the telly.
M. R. P.
I went to see a gig by a musician friend, Nibs van der Spuy, at the Half Moon earlier this week. The place has a pleasant atmosphere when you walk in, the lady behind the bar who took the orders was pleasant, although the food delivery was very slow, and nothing was particularly good, nor bad.
I wasn't going to write a review until I found that the price of a Diet Coke, out of the machine, is £6. That is iniquitous.
O. P.
What a brilliant venue ! Easy to get to from the train station and a beautiful interior. I came for the Fleetwood Bac gig and had a great time
k. a.
Amazing live music 🎼
V. D.
Always liked this pub. A bit pricey but it's in Putney so that's the norm for that area. Service is really good and wide selection of beers.
J. E.
Great, historic music venue
D. H.
Had a great time with the good food and drink, and some excellent music, but an off-putting smell pervades the whole venue.
J. W.
Nice beers and an excellent live venue!
M. U.
Love the venue but the food is woefully disappointing. Only one veggie option and that comes in the shape of a miserly slither of goats cheese tart. And that costs £10. Very poor.
D. S.
Great venue for up and coming new music. Like the awesome performance last night by Severs
G. G.
Nice pub. Drinks are expensive. Nice little gem of a venue at the back. Friendly atmosphere.
C. H.
Went to view the christmas markets but not much to see. No free tables so i couldn't squeeze in for a roast. They looked very nice.
R. C.
Lovely, authentic London pub with a great passion for live music. Nice beers as well!
P. T.
Great pub. Selection of food is way above average. Great venue for live music.
S. V.
Nice pub and good selection of drinks on offer. Convenient location if you are on the river in Putney but don't want to be a packed pub.
R. L.
Great intamate venue easy access via Putney bridge. Nice Camden Brewery beer reasonable prices (for London)
P. S.
Great pub with a good selection of beers, decent humburgers and lot of Live music events. A must if you are crawling around Putney.
S. C.
Great venue in a pub. There's a bar in the room -- so you can drink while you watch comedy or live bands.
D. C.
Good atmosphere and drinks, nice place but was very disappointed with the food, waited 40 minutes for a small plate then when it came it wasn't fully cooked.
m. i. r. c.
Spacious and relaxed pub. I enjoyed tea and reading during the afternoon. Although it hosts live music too some days in the evenings
R. S.
Wow what amazing venue this place and how big this building is and how small the live music venue in which holds about 250 people at time so their is limited seating and the rest is standing up this is the very first time that I have visited a pub with a music venue in the same building and it's truly amazing to know the history of this place where iconic band's like The Who & The Rolling Stones have performed at the half moon going their on Tuesday felt strange and unusual that I was going to a pub to watch live music in a pub Tuesday evening was really great to see actress singer song writer Heather Peace live for the first time having seen her IT's London's burning I would definitely recommend going to live music here
J. P.
Iconic music venue. Comfortable pub. Some great acts, check it out.
Z. W.
Great place for live music. Cozy gig space at the back of the pub leads to some really intimate gigs.
S. M.
First time back in there in forty years. It's still a fantastic place to watch live music.Highly recommended.
J. M.
A lovely ,friendly pub.the staff are great.
M. R.
Great live music venue, prices not cheap but pretty much what you'd expect
A. Y.
Great pub. Plenty of seating and good food and drinks selection. TVs all around.
M. P.
Pub is really nice, however prices are quite high even for Putney. Place smells like a toilet. Venue room is freezing cold!
J. P.
Great music venue, but damned expensive drinks (in the pub, not just in the music part).
G. A.
Great pub, great music
N. T.
Nice Music and outside seating area . They have a good selection of beer and food. Decent place to meet up friends.
N. M.
Great local with nice outdoor space. Good spot to see bands too, seen some great cover bands over the years
J. B.
Ok for music of the band is good. Drinks a bit dear. £9 for Glass of wine.
T. B.
A jewell of a traditional English pub mixed with great music. Don't let it be sucked up by the greedy Putney nouveau riche who don't understand their heritage.
A. L.
Great pub food. Good live music regularly. Highly recommend
D. D.
Great live music, cosy pub, lovely outside area and good beer selection
B. F.

T. M.
Nice place, good atmosphere but drinks prices take the piss a bit, I just paid £10.50 for a double std. (cheap gin) gin and tonic
c. g.
First visit to this legend if a pub - why? 😄 It was ace! 👍
W. C.
I've been here quite a few times, the rating is for the live music and not the pub. The pub side is good but I only come here to see bands.
P. M.
Nice concert pub with tribute artists shows for 15£. Very recommended in the Putney area.
T. J.
Characterful pub, with a lovely mellow music venue in the rear. Recommended.
