Reviews of The Half Moon - JD Wetherspoon
R. A.
One of the cheapest pubs I know, it's spacious too, though you need a table if you want to order food which despite its size can be difficult to find when it's busy
D. H.
Always too quality food and clean environment. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Always taking care of customers and checks if everything’s are ok. Going back soon. Totally recommended- it’s always busy anyway 😀
M. V.
Great service, cheap menu and decent internet speeds makes this Wetherspoon a good choice for remote work, a pint with friends or a quick bite.
A. R.
Very nice inside and out. I would have given 5 stars but some of the bar staff need a bit of training when it comes to pouring a pint (especially Guinness). Other than that, a great place day or night
J. W.
Met some friends here for a catch up drink. The atmosphere is fairly standard among wetherspoons pubs and this one is no different. We ordered food which was an okay standard, with the thinnest pizza I've ever seen. More like a burrito disc with pizza toppings. A pint of Coors lite is only 3.50 so no real complaints.
It's a wetherspoons pub so there's always a compromise. Cold water in the wash rooms only and no hot air out of the hand dryers. A wetherspoons standard pub. If you're looking for mediocre food and cheap booze it's the go to place.
l. s.
really packed on Fridays, lack of seating is a slight problem. However service was great and staff were very helpful. Shout out to the bar girl Paulina, really friendly service
K. P.
The best wetherspoons I've been to so far.
A few reasons why;
The building used to be a theatre so it is really big and open, giving a non pub like atmosphere.
Cheap drinks, it's a wetherspoons!
F. O.
Waiting for hospital discharge spend here, must said: amazing quality-price food and good service
J. L.
Local Wetherspoons and is what you expect. Lots of drinks, huge variety on the menu and a great affordable place to drop in for a meal. Staff are friendly, but the place isn't the cleanest I admit.
D. T.
One of the best place to sit down. Either for eat or drink. Everything available here. Staff are very good and close to any type of communication. Has been coming here for at least 10 years. Service excellence never dropped never had any complain
G. B.
Wow! My favourite place in London now, great ambiance, nice crowd, courteous staff, amazing selection of beer & that too reasonably priced. On Wednesday’s beer prices starts from even as low as 2 pounds . Cons- no music (I went on Friday night) , but other than that it’s a great place.
S. K.
Very lively. Great to have a pint or two with friends. Nice outdoor garden seating. Very near to Stepney Green station. Worth a visit
D. T.
A simple Wetherspoons offering. Good service from very pleasant staff. Beer was good. A big airy building with two bars and a great courtyard garden area. A good place to meet and make friends

Nice place to go. Sat outside but didn't like the fact that beggars kept coming in the gate asking for money.
S. B.
Pretty small compared to other wetherspoons. Might want to try something else.

Fun Wetherspoons Pub in Mile End Road near Stepney Green underground station District and metropolitan railway!
D. H.
Great spoons, lovely outdoor area and really close to the tube station.
G. G.
Really lovely place, nice staff and cozy to relax

Well quite good affordable I definetly go again
S.
Generally a nice pub with a decent atmosphere, but it is quite busy most of the time; you might have a hard time finding a place to sit.
The staff are nice and polite, however
J. D.
Had a great pub dinner some pints, and a great breakfast the following morning.
All for a very decent price.
The staff is very kind, and the ambiance is very good.
Definitely recommend going here for a good time and decent food.

Fun Wetherspoons Pub in Mile End Road near Stepney Green underground station District and metropolitan railway!
J. B.
Well, it's a Wetherspoons another cattle market, but the compensation was friendly chatty staff and cheap drink.
A. S.
Real ale only found I the rear bar. Pleasant surroundings at the legendary going value Wetherspoons prices
P.
Cool pub... varieties choice of beer and food to choose from. Service was great as well
G. T.
Had a lovely time, had to wait over 30 minutes for 1 pint that we ordered which was a little disappointing. but understandable during these times. But Zak provided us with great customer service! Was very friendly and helped us out when ever we asked. Should definitely be recognised as a great worker.
p.
Table and manu was sticky food taste was not that good first time visit have to think would I go back, no rush but otherwise good service very quick
Y. S.
Very large & spacious pub with plenty of semi-covered outdoor seating (which I couldn't take advantage of owing to torrential rain during my visit!). Staff were friendly & attentive and the meals we ordered were to the usual standard. The range of beers available seemed to be smaller than in other Wetherspoons pubs but this might have been due to supply issues arising from Covid 19 issues.
Due to Covid lockdowns & me being cautious, this visit was the first time I have been in a pub since early March 2020, ending a 16-month draught beer drought! Will definitely visit this pub again.
R. D.
The manager was rather rude. We had been ordering through the app throughout our stay of several hours. The manager then suddenly assumed that we had brought in our own drinks and told us to leave. She even said that we had been there for too long. We refused and luckily she went to check the cameras and didn't come back.
A. W.
One of the cheapest pubs I know of in London (and luckily my local). Beautifully converted theatre. Good selection of ales and craft. Hard to get a table but large garden popular even in winter.
C.
Good wetherspoons vibe. Good food and can't complain at the prices on beer and food. Just the covid thing bit of a faff but the same everywhere. Least we can go out. Had my first visit. Will definitely go again. Nice outside area and seating.
c.
currently at this location...don’t expect much from a Wetherspoons but we’ve been waiting over an hour for some of our orders and no apology. on top of this the food that took over an hour was cold. great for a couple drinks but not on this occasion. just to be clear not blaming the servers/cooks but the management for not anticipating the crowds
D. H.
Great spoons, lovely outdoor area and really close to the tube station.
k. y.
This was the first pub I had after driving from dover and nice experience. At the same time, this was the beginning of curiosity why middle age guys are drinking in the middle of the day.
k.
Great apps to order food directly. Pretty chill atmosphere.
J. N.
Good breakfast here, great staff helpful and friendly. Great value.
S. B.
Pretty small compared to other wetherspoons. Might want to try something else.
d.
Great, friendly staff. Quick service and a nice, bright, clean establishment
I. B.
Just finished my Lunch and i need to say everything was soo good, the food and drinks are perfectly served and the staff was very polite and they know what they are doing, the place looks very nice. I really like this place and i recommend it.
L. S.
Really good seating setup and the flow of drinks/food came at a decent speed (time 4pm fri - closing)
The only ‘ugh’ bit was the seating rules;
- chairs couldn’t be moved; yet allowed others to do so
- weren’t allowed to put up umbrellas in beer garden during the rain
- cash allowed
S. F.
Very close to Stepney Green Station and bus stops. There are a couple of places to park and lock your bicycle, i cycle. So, very convenient.
The pub is big, it has an outside area with umbrellas to keep the rain off you and your food. The food is good, I'm a big fan of Wetherspoon's Traditional Breaky ( there's a veggie version, for you veggis out their in veggie land) and more importantly their refillable tea! (Coffee as well). Well priced.
Staff are pleasant and helpful especially when we have these crazy lockdown laws that are always changing. Politicians and government scientists doing their best to confuse the little brain cells you have left! Makes you wonder if the hospitality sector will survive.
Nice place to eat, clean and tidy.
H. C.
Very good food, really worth the time and price
T. C.
The cooking quality has improved especially for the sirloin. It was overdone pervious time. I hope it can keep its food quality.
G. K.
Okay food ,bad service but good for your pockets especially if your having a night out.
A.
Good food but a little dated and dusty!
P. G.
Cheap drinks, quick service and nice ambience.
C. H.
Love the garden at the front as its nice to have a bit of sunshine while catching up with people.
Nice friendly staff and we'll it's a spoons so you'll know what to expect.
M. G.
This place is amazing.
We had a table at the cash payment only area.
Zak is new here but doing an amazing job.
Although all of the staff could do a bit better looking if the costumers are alright (like we had empty glasses in front of us for quite some tome).
Otherwise I’ll be here again soon!!!!!! :D
A. S.
Graham is a real one big up Rio also love hims <3
A. A.
Best spoons in the country. Staff are always super helpful even considering they have so much to do and are paid so little.
2. C. D.
Bog standard Witherspoon. Converted cinema by the Looks of it.nice garden cheap beer what more do you need on a lazy sunny day
D. C.
Drinks are so cheap here, you can buy them for as cheap as £2 whereas at other places in London you are typically charged £6. Food is a little bit basic, but once you've had a drink, it tastes like Christmas has come early.
A. R. G.
First time, and last (but this is because I'm moving to Euston and won't make sense to come all way down to Stepney to have a beer) in this pub.
We were in the beer garden which was fine, big, not overcrowded and clean.
We had lunch / dinner. The garlic bread, the onion rings, the halloumi fries and the macheese bites were great, specially the garlic bread!
My friend got a veggie burger, it was good she said and I got the cured ham with eggs, I chose that expecting gammon tbh... That cured ham is a downgrade, a huge one, in a pub classic as gammon and eggs!! Too bad!!
Then, as we were cold, we ordered hot chocolate, and they forgot about it!! Anyway, it was 99p for the chocolate, so who cares...
In general is a good pub.
R. T.
Just finished my breakfast and i need to say everything was soo good, the food and drinks are perfectly served and the staff was very polite and they know what they are doing, the place looks very nice. I really like this place and i recommended it.
M. P.
Very nice place, worth it to see and food and not expensive, cheap beer too. Easy access
L. D.
The food was delicious and there staff was really friendly service and they have a nice garden you can sit outside
A. C.
Great food and drink options at reasonable prices. Good indoor and outdoor seating options. Good service. Good value for money.
G. G.
Really lovely place, nice staff and cozy to relax
D. T.
Great Spoons with a decent outside seating area
H. A.
Well quite good affordable I definetly go again
B. R.
The food is cheap and filling, the cocktails are amazing for the price but often out of stock during the day. Super student friendly!
G. P.
Lovely food for good prices.
The decor could be done nicer though, the inside has so much potential.
a. g.
Wonderful place with lovely lights everywhere and good and cheap food. Love it
M. D.
Went spoons yesterday for the pubs reopening, was really busy but didn't take too long to get food and drinks which were as good as they used to be! Social distancing rules were explained well and all the staff looked like they were working so hard, wish I could have bought them a drink
B. M.
In use toilet and have 2 bottles of alc free Becks
H. D.
Great place to hang out and have a few drinks. It's always a busy with mixture of locals and students and staff from qmw next door. The drinks are really cheap and wide selection of food. It used to have really good food (5 star) a few years ago, particularly the fish and chips were was very fresh and perfectly cooked. However its gradually gone down hill and with a newly designed menu the meals are quite standard.
Apart from that it's got a great lively atmosphere with friendly staff and patrons so makes for a nice experience.
P. L. (.
Nice layout, lovely place for drinking outside!
A. R.
Served very quickly, the steak me and my dad had was perfectly cooked. My dad had his done medium and I had mine well done. For once it was well done and soft. Compliments to the chef. We topped it off with warm cookie dough sandwich which I ordered through the app. This came quickly. Pleasant and efficient staff. Been a few times before but very impressed with this visit. I am glad there's still nice pubs in London.
J. L.
No extra charge for swapping beans for mushrooms on my Traditional Breakfast and unlimited coffee all for under 5 quid, what's not to love? I was greeted with a smile, which is always nice. My servers were courteous and friendly, so much so that I went back for a proper drink when I'd finished my job. Lunchtime was much busier but it's still a relaxed friendly vibe and the outside courtyard is a great place to people watch.
J. N.
Menu not as good since I was last there. Missed roast chicken
a. p.
Amazing place, ambiance is great specially on Fridays and Saturdays.
I. R.
Rather nice converted chapel with courtyard. Unexpectedly attractive where it is. Downside was that having been warned of a 30 minute wait for food it did not arrive. Bar staff were not helpful, but eventually a waiter investigated and after an hour the food did arrive and we were offered a free drink. I would try it again.
P. B.
Great pub,good service,nice grub
D. J.
Great atmosphere! Shout out to Rosie behind the bar!
m. s.
It's a wethy cheap beer food OK. 😋
t. u.
Love their pizza and king prawns its delicious and very cheap.
R.
Great place, cheap pints. No other words needed
D. R.
Great food and drink. Plenty of seating and an outdoor area with benchs. Easy to order via the scanable menu.
J. W.
Spacious, clean, affordable beer. Look forward to returning.
B. S.
Really nice atmosphere and cheap drinks! Lovely staff, would visit again
E. P.
Great weatherspoons. Really cheap compared to the others around London, I think because of the students at Queen Mary's University. As a local, the only downside is it can be pretty hectic with the amount of students, so be prepared for the place to be packed. Overall great atmosphere and a lovely outside space.
M. B.
Nice enough venue. It’s let down by the vomiting students.
N. T.
Small outisfe garden so i would recommend getting there early to get a table. But all the staff are lovely and service is quick
E. B.
Vegan burger is a safe bet and the food arrives in a pretty timely manner even when it's busy. Staff are pleasant and I like the lively atmosphere. An all round good spoons. :)
L. W. G.
Wonderful! Delicious food with good bier and amazing prices, I loved this place!
Y. S.
Interesting to visit for a day! Beautiful view and sunny :)
C. M.
A great spoons which is unofficially a student pub as it’s right next door to QMUL. Food isn’t exceptional but what is expected at a spoons pub. Service however is exceptional with a wonderful atmosphere, friendly bar staff and servers when they serve the food. It is wheelchair accessible and has a lovely front yard that has outdoor seating, sheltered and unsheltered.
A. R.
Probably one of th better spoons I've been too, usually loads of students in throughout the week and busy over the weekends. Get there early if you want a booth/nice table x
V. S.
I took a burger from the Christmas menu and was really delicious! Also the pigs in blankets were tasty. The service has been really efficient and friendly!
S. F.
Great food and good value for price. The seating arrangements for both indoor and outdoor are nice.
B. p.
Anne marie never seen someone work so hard bringing the food out non stop i said to anne you work so hard you must be proud of her
H. H. (.
Good service (even though I used the Wetherspoons app to order); shame about the toilets. Didn't really like being in there; it smelled disgusting; I'm pretty sure there was poo on the walls of the cubicle, and also one of the cubicles was out of order. I would suggest they remodel the toilets to be more modern, because I don't know about you, but I would very much like a toilet with an actual lid so I don't have to do a mad dash out of the toilet just so I can flush without getting my own pee splashed on my trousers.
R. V.
Very nice, lively place to spend time with colleagues after work or classes in large groups. It is a very spacious place where you can have large gatherings. They even have a really nice garden and 2 bars to spread the crowds. Amazing place!! :)
A. A.
The best place for fast service and catch up with friends if you are on a budget. So cheap and good quality of fast food and drinks. Staff always polite even if is changing quite often.
M. A.
It's a Wetherspoons, you can buy three double rum and coke or three vodka orange etc for £10.00. Ideal place to start your evening or if you just want a casual few drinks and a catch up you can't go wrong. Quite clean, decent beer garden for warmer times of the year also. Service can be slow once it gets busy though, same as most places. The race for a table or booth for groups is very entertaining.
S. R.
This is a classic pub. The staff are friendly but don't expect clean tables and prompt service all the time. Do expect cheap food, drinks and many people enjoying themselves. The venue itself is actually quite beautiful. It has a stunning large beer garden that is perfect for summer.
The food isn't amazing, but does the job. What works for this place though is the location. Stepney Green needs something like this and so it is always popular.
I rescinded this place for after work drinks, a date, or a catch up with good friends.
A. I.
good vibe, cheap drink and decent food. The bad thing there is no music in the venue
M. H.
Burger and chips was amazing. Outdoor seating was incredible and they follow covid protocols so I felt really safe. Great service and friendly staff.
R. P.
From the outside the pub seemed to leave impression to be really expensive, the inner area was also very luxurious, however the prices were about a half or a third of the central London prices, which was a very nice surprise for a tourist like me. Got English breakfast for two with tea, juice and a pint of cider for nearly 12 pounds. Incredible experience!
R. D.
Good wetherspoons. Some staff is nice, other is just tired. Have been goong there for breakfast for 8 years. Meals sometimes come out dreadful but 80% of the time it's all good. Coffee machines are absurd and can make ok coffee, or terrible, or no coffee at all, but there's always a queue which is very annoying. No other place around that can make meals like that so it's ok for what it's worth and you can't beat the prices.
P. P.
Brilliant place, good staff, chicken breast wasn't good but ribs onion rings and chips good
P. G.
Had a fantastic breakfast here yesterday. Young blonde waitress was very friendly. Will be coming back!
M. S.
Great cheap Wetherspoons with an outdoor area for drinking which in summer is covered in flowers. Cheap prices with a deli deal being £5.80 with an alcoholic drink ans beer and burger about £6.50. Pints of beer are around £3.30 give or take a bit. Some of the staff are friendly but some are slow and dont care. The area is not that great but has frequent buses and tubes.
D. T.
Definitely one of the nicer Wetherspoons with a nice beer garden and backed up with great efficient service! This place however is always packed, any night of the week. Finding a table can be a challenge. But with the amazing prices and the nearby universitys and hospitals you can't blame them!
a. j.
Food and service great, interesting building
N. L.
Nice place with a good beer garden, but not the best area and transport around.
I. S.
Clean and spacious with some interesting building history :)
We came here on a Tuesday night to try their Stake Club menu. Our large mixed grill was delicious, and a pint of Guinness (or other drinks) was also included into the £6.50 offer. Bonus!
It was quite busy inside and outside, and the crowd seemed very civilized.
I liked their beer garden, the only problem is that it's on the main road side, and felt a bit noisy and polluted from traffic, but still great for the hot summer evening.
Overall, this is an excellent gastro-pub.
S. C.
Super cheap food and beer, friendly staff just like any other Wetherspoon's pub. It's like the McDonald's of pubs as I see it. Satisfactory given the value for money but go somewhere else if you want great quality. Good for an evening out with mates and colleagues.
L. Z.
Probably the most famous pub around Queen Mary University of London. The environment was good for chatting. Food was fine and the price was OK. Very busy on Friday evening, sometimes you need your proof of age.
S. N.
During the day it's relatively quiet, the evenings it's a different story. Food is well priced but there isn't much choice if like me you don't consume meat or dairy products. Friday and Saturday evenings the place is heaving, you'll require identification because they have door staff from 6 pm onwards.
m. m.
Always a great stop off for food n drinks 🍸
M. H.
The only decent Weatherspoons I have ever been - It is located in an old church (?) or theater(?) and has very high ceilings, which makes it OK even if it is too busy. Food and pints are ridiculously cheap and still decent, as is the service.
J.
Staff really friendly, food hot and cooked perfect.
D. I.
Unusually large and we'll designed interiors: one should be able to get a place for a small group without any problems. I liked local crowd, so different from the West End crowd. Genuine London, no tourist crowd. Only a minute away from Stepney Green tube which helps after one too many. Queen Mary university campus is close by and students will naturally bring you here.
D. N.
Nice Witherspoons pub done out beautiful and a lovely garden and conservatory. Service was quick and staff very friendly and kind. Will go there again if passing through London area. Food reasonably priced and meals were nice.
K. k.
Went here for breakfast, friendly staff, quick service and lovely atmosphere. Chef offering a new pizza dish coming to the menu soon too. My breakfast however was cold, which is a shame, but other than that a good place.
S. S.
This review is just regarding the Restaurant and not regarding the bar.
The quality of the food is okay but not great. The ribs are terrible though. Our pasta dish was so tiny that even my wife's little appetite wasn't satisfied.
The variety of food is massive thought and is priced reasonably.
The ambiance is good.
O. A.
Typical Spoons. Cheapish drinks and clients.
C. C.
Brilliant garden, lovely atmosphere and delicious food for really good prices.
R. E.
I've been eating at the Half Moon for 6 months during my stay in London. I've gotta say it's very good, great deals for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week. The service isn't perfect, kinda slow sometimes. The place is huge, no problem in finding a sit, both inside and outside in the outdoor area.
M. “. O. K.
A nice big 'Spoons. Gets quite busy in the evening, popular with the student crowd and everyone else who enjoys a cheap drink and filling food. It's not haute cuisine but it doesn't pretend to be.
Sometimes the door staff could do with a refresher course in customer service but overall it's a good place to go if you are in the area and want a beer that's well maintained that won't make a massive dent in your wallet.
J. B.
Great place 👍 to go for a few drinks in the summer 😁 Large outside 🍺 garden.Pity they don't seem to have live sports on Sky TV 😲 here. Then again it is a Wetherspoons Public house.
L. D.
Alright pub, good selection of beers, pretty good fun. It doesn't have much character and is usually crowded. I took off a star because they straight up will not mix drinks for you if those are not on the menu. I was told that yes, they have all the ingredients for a White Russian, but they "can't" make one for me. That's kind of ridiculous.
S. M.
Great Place Covid 19 explained simply an d all was well. Beer had been reuced in price which really helped. All staff polite and helpfull as usual
a. c.
Nice clean, good service, food was good
K. N.
I have fond memories of The Half Moon on Mile End - it was my local when I was a student at Queen Mary University which is only 3 minutes walk from campus. It's a Wetherspoon pub which means good-value on food and great selection of beers on tap. This particular branch was once a chapel so it's relatively spacious. Great place to hang out with friends.
M. P.
For a weatherspoon it is actually pretty cool. It has a pretty garden which is amazing during spring/summer. Nice atmosphere because of the students of the nearby uni that break the monotony and misery that you find in other weatherspoons. Food, drinks and prices as any other spoon. Cheaper than anywhere else in the area.
T. A.
A great classic Wetherspoon pub; cheapest drinks in London and with a huge selection there is something for everyone. The food is brilliant value for money, but not the best standard.
There is nothing else I can say that others have not.
Handy location very close to the tube station, also big inside and outside area.
H. I.
It's a wetherspoon.. So cheap drinks food menu is good with a variety of different types of dishes.. I had the steak today as Tuesday is steak day.. Two steaks with sides and a bottle of hardys wine.. 20.99..also has a outdoor area. Recommend it for a affordable meal out.
M. L.
The food is your average weatherspoons fare - the good mixed in with the bad. The Burgers tend to be excellent and good value, particularly with their deals, and the breakfasts aren't too shabby. I have had times where the sausages have tasted quite odd, but overall it can be seen as very good.
The decor isn't really anything to shout about, although it does have a certain style to it. It's still has a traditional feel, based upon the theatre that once stood there. However, as a gastropub, it feels very airy and light, not like usual enclosed pubs.
Service changes on the day by day, but is generally very good. On some good days the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, and even on bad days are rarely anything other than good.
C. D. M.
Another great J.D.Wetherspoon's, lovely decor, great beer garden, and super food.
The beer is expensive though, £3.15 a pint for a guest ale in the East End is a bit exorbitant!
But having said that, it's a brilliant boozer, so come and enjoy!
🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
D. R.
Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
M. C.
Good prices and nice atmosphere!!!
M. M.
Staff and place are great. Decent boozer and service
M. M.
Big pub with fantastic outdoor space, ideal in this heat. Good selection of food. Beer very cheap but one of the members of staff seemed like he rather be elsewhere.
T. S.
Great service. Zack who served me and my group was very professional and knowledgeable.
W. M.
Excellent place! Nothing better than an ultimate burger and a pint of good beer at the half moon. The traditional English breakfast and the Sunday roast are quite nice too!
C. D.
Basically the QMC student bar. Beer quality has improved since last I was here, but I not sure the eardrums can take it. Service is decent but then the staff are debtors too.
L. b. s.
There breakfast is great 5 90 a great prices
H. S.
Good Service, let you test the beers b4 u buy. Great food fast service piping hot and well presented. Steak and e pie with mash all the trimmings and onion gravy.
D. P.
Really caring customer service, better than Spoons in Surrey Quays! All Whetherspoons staff should be like this, friendly, smiling ☺ not blaming customers for their mistakes, being grumpy - Wayne.. Head of Spoons should read this.
Great in Half Moon! I'd go back there!
R. S.
Atmosphere is always really nice in there, the prices are good and so is the food. The staff have always been nothing but lovely no matter the time of day, and they're always running around making sure everything is spotless. Lovely place, and easy to get to.
A. G.
Great fried chicken wings. One of the best I have ever eaten. So juicy and yummy. Served with sriracha and blue cheese sauces. Couldn't fault it.
R. D.
Went for lunch. Building is old theatre so a nice space.
Typical Wetherspoons
However my steak was tough and Grizzely. But I think this is a rarity as I have had some really good steaks and some mediocre from the Wetherspoon chain.
So a steak at the spoon is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you going to get.
I. G.
Pleasant surroundings relaxed clean
M. R.
They have the sectioned off tables and app is so easy to use to order direct to the table..ladies toilets were well maintained, clean and tidy
H. J.
Great place to go with friends. The half moon has 99 available tables and the option between in and outside. The food is delicious and very fast by the way. However the best is the prices. Integrated in the whetherspoon franchise the half moon is an awesome choice to join.
J. L.
One of the most affordable and good pubs in London! There is a selection of beers for under 3 pounds. The pub is under-staffed and in busy times you are likely to wait over 20 minutes for a beer.
m. s.
Exactly what you expect from a Wetherspoons. No surprises.
G. S.
It's almost closing time so harass all your customers to leave. Offer them a plastic pint cup. What happens if someone orders a drink at 11.59pm on a tuesday? Do they have only one minute to drink up and get out. Hasseling your customers is disrespectful. Drinking up time is obviously a thing of the past. If you serve alcohol until 12 midnight, then please allow time for the customer to consume it. Ridiculous.
K. W.
Not up to standard Wetherspoons. Tables are cleaned with dirty cloths and visable sticky marks are on most tables. The cutlery given to me was sticky and had encrusted food on them, when I gave them to the manager she realised all the others were the same and had to wash mine. Coffee mugs are the same, sticky and encrusted food on them. When I mentioned that coffee cups should have a warmer as the temperature of the coffee will diminish when poured into a freezing cold mug, especially an espresso the manager gave me 3 objections that weren't valid to a customer who's beverage is cold. There is one piece of advise she could have offered which was to heat the cups using the hot water but Wetherspoons staff seem to rather argue objections than give good advice. . Then when I went to the toilets the floor had been washed with product only and was a slip insurance hazard. When I mentioned my issues to the manager she thought I was picking on her rather than offering feedback from a 45yr veteran in the pub trade. Get it together Wetherspoons, I've been trying to contact Tim Martin for years but customer service put up barriers after they cost the company 10s of thousands of pounds with an ICO infringement I tried to warn them about but they became childish and obstanant. I hope you read this and listen to customers with more experience in the trade than you guys who love your concept but realise your mystery customer operations are not sufficient to maintain high standards. Let me have an appointment with Tim Martin and I'd be happy to discuss all the issues Wetherspoons are facing and how to easily improve standards across the business.
Oh been there again and bar staff are wearing headphones and suggest using a straw to stir your coffee as they've run out of wooden stirrers.
T. F.
Lovely pub. Outdoor area really well thought out and imagine it'll be very nice, and probably crowded in summer. Talking about crowds, the whole place can get extremely busy, especially when students are at Uni.
V. R.
Nice place! Tasty food. Was not crowded in the morning, so it is possible to work from there as well with the coffee refill :)
E. R.
Still open amid a global pandemic, nothing but respect for the staff working here providing beer to us before we all have to stay at home indefinitely. Toilet paper holders in the bathroom easy to open.
L. G. O.
Incredible place. Cozy and not really expensive. There are some plates where 3 meals more 3 drinks costs together £15. Three friends pay £5 each one in this case!
E. P.
The best pub in Whitechapel area. Great environment, amazing prices, nice dishes and drinks. If you're in the area, definitely go there.
J. R.
Hello there
I live locally to this public house but do not frequent it as much as I would like, as I work very long hours and it's often not easy for me to visit.
This evening (Sun 10/05/2015) I had been to some friends and felt like just rounding the evening off with a nightcap and it being Sunday, thought it prudent to check on line prior to going along, as I am aware of how closing times differ from day to day with most places serving alcohol.
Your site claims that this venue closes at midnight on Sundays, but on arriving was informed by the, let me just say, extremely pleasant and efficient bar staff, that it in fact closes at 11pm. After some discussion, I gather that this is not the first time a customer has accessed your site and has been misinformed and this has repeatedly been a great source of irritation for those working behind the bar.
For the sake of your excellent staff at this venue AND a lot of your customers, I implore you to amend your website to reflect the correct information. Surely, this cannot be too difficult for whoever updates your website information, it's not as if it's a venue that is under patronised so some customer care would not go amiss. Clearly, I have rated it with 5 stars as I have ALWAYS had marvellous service from all the staff but this is not how I feel about your website!
Thank you very much for your attention.

As Wetherspoons go, this is one of the best. A solid beer selection at cheap prices, and the building itself is quite cool, with three main areas: an old pub style bar at the front, a modern high ceiling area at the back and an outside area with benches too.
S. T.
A really interesting and friendly Wetherspoons. The hiding themselves are a mix of old and new. The crowd runs from young students to pensioners with their own tankards. The selection of drinks is amazing and the food is not just hugely varied but tasty. Wil be returning as soon as possible.
P. K.
Exactly what you would expect from a witherspoon. Very good although is dependant on which staff you get served by. First time was good, second time had a mardy bar lady who made us a pitcher of cocktail but then kept us waiting 10 mins for glasses while she served other customers?????
r. b.
The staff where very helpful and hardworking.
S. T.
It's cool. Sometime you can wait for order like 30minutes but it's not that bad(waterspoon). It's a big pub and they are short like 20staff so.... They are trying. Ist good!
C. G. D. S.
Really good pub, 2 bars on either side, BEER GARDEN!! (very important for the summer) large pull down projector screen to see football/rugby, cheaper than inner london prices (roughly a £1 cheaper) very good beer selection. Everything you could want from a pub really, can get pretty busy with students from the university near by.
D. M.
It's a bit run down these days, but it's a Wetherspoons - you know what you'll be getting.
The kitchen can be slow at times, but the food standard is fine.
Generally a good selection of beers.
Customers fall into either old man or university people groups.
W. B.
Good service, nice food great beer. All great prices
h.
Great pub food, good prices. I loved going here as a student. Great place for all types of people. Good food good drinks. Nice vibe and friendly staff. On cold mornings the breakfast is GREAT!
G. F.
Trouble finding a table due to students occupying almost all the tables but going outside to smoke. Unfortunately the lass bringing our food did not know table numbers so when it arrived it wasn't the hottest. Other wise typical weatherspoons.
I. E.
Great food. Quality up to standard
N. B.
This is a Weatherspoons. But a good one. Its cheap - pints from £2 in London is awesome. This weatherspoons has a nice outside areas which is good in the summer. As for all spoons the food is nothing special but the meal and drink deal is good value
R. D. M.
What is happening? No draft ale or soft drinks, only cans and bottles. No sausages on Monday. No fish and chips, no chicken wrap on Sunday. Who is running this place? Usually I enjoy this bar.
W. L.
Excellent huGe Wetherspoons. Drinks (as always) are cheap and great value. Space is huge and really interesting. Pub was clean and accomodated a huge group of us after a concert. Bouncer was ok (Saturday night). Only loses a dot because the server's seem a little confused at times and ordering a gin and tonic that was sat on the shelf was a bit of a mission. Other than that, a good pub and we will be back.
O. P.
Weatherspoons, while having a great selection of cheap drinks, beer and ales and a fancy interior that tries to marry modern decor with traditional pub furniture you end up still with that chain franchise dehumanised feeling. Good for a pint if you're low on cash.
T. F.
Nice roomy Wetherspoons that seems to have a larger selection of drinks than usual. Food is also of a good level. Nice place to go in the sun as there is a large outside area.
E. C.
Wonderful place, wonderful ambiance. Staff are amazing the pitchers are fabulous
J. B.
Large and spaceful Wetherspoons pub with a spacious, modern outdoor seating area. Service was quick and the staff were friendly. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was quite busy.
L. R.
Excellent-tasting food whilst also cheap, large selection of fairly priced drinks and good promotional offers (e.g. curry thursday, fish friday). Can order at bar or on Wetherspoons app. Quick service and friendly staff.
K. S.
Cosy pub with two areas and an outdoor beer garden depending on your mood (and the weather!). Good location, right next to Stepney Green station and nearby Queen Mary. Great selection of drinks and food. Reliable, cheap and fast. One of the better Wetherspoons in terms of venue and clientele.
A. T.
A nice pub with fast service, and friendly staff 👌
C. F.
Good price for good food!
D. L.
Great place to meet friends after a hard months work. Nice outside area, good food (get a couple of share platters). Have been about 4 times, always been good.
P. C.
Always a great place to go for drinks and a meal after a long day at university. Or to drink the hair of a dog and to get over the hangover. Great atmosphere and pleasant bar staff. Being going here for 6 years now.
N. L.
Awesome place to chill and get some brews midday
L. M.
Well i was told I wasn’t going to be served because I walked to the toilets with no face mask, but observed a staff member walking around collecting glasses without one. Double standards much?
A. M.
Comfortable, bright place with plenty of seating outside for summer days and evenings. Good selection of ales and friendly service, albeit a bit slow through insufficient bar staff which is a common problem with Wetherspoons pubs. It looks like this is their way of cutting costs.
P. D.
Quick chips and curry sauce, washed down with a strong bow cider. Set me up for a long day
J. H.
Nice pub indeed
L. G.
Great service, you can order on the app the drinks and it comes to your table... very cheap drinks, paid in a pint £1.99. Large space and friendly environment!
R. A.
A decent spoons with indoor and outdoor space
G. M.
I love this place. Good quality food, good price and a lot of fun. Perfect place to date with a girl if you a bit stingy but you still want to impress her. I can't live without it.
M. B.
Rough and ready Wetherspoons near Stepney Green station. Very cheap, even for a 'Spoons, great range of beer (as ever), but a bit tatty in places. Rarely quiet in the evening as it's the only decent pub in the area
A. C.
Excuisite! Nice steak , nice Draft
N. T.
Classic British Pub but with a new look, if you are a uni goer or a post shift officer you should go at Half Moon to get a pint, you'll love the atmosphere and the people within the venue, staff is polite and keen to help you, they do table service and you can even order through the wetherspoons app to jump the queue
M.
Nice outdoor space. Quick service.
K. M.
A typical Weatherspoons' offering.
A nice entrance half courtyard enables one to sit out on those occasions when sunshine and warmth allows. And this is remarkably congenial and noise and pollution free despite the fact that it is situated on a main road.
However I found the range of beers that were actually available very disappointing. Lots of pump handles but comparatively little beer : the first three I asked for were not available ! Which is a record for a pub - let alone a Weatherspoons.
Would I patronise again ?
Yes : I suppose I would.
But there again ... I would not go out of my way to do so.
M. C.
I love this pub as all wetherspoons that I have been to so far. I used to live just across the road and I have been there for dinner or drinks numerous times. Lovely terrace and environment to go with your mates! 🍻
G.
Aah good old wetherspoons a bit of real England in London.
Like a comfy old chair
Love it no matter how foreign London has become wetherspoons feel like England
Love the limitless tea and coffee
Always a good atmosphere
Staff great at this one
D. P.
Can't falt this pub, complete value for money. Friendly staff and a good place to meet with friends. Mass catering done well... particularly the fish and chips!
C. F.
very big Spoons pub with a great outside area let down by poor service most of the time. Sauces are rarely refilled, they have had empty mustard bottles on the tables for at least a month now, when II mention it all I got was a shrug.
Still its the only pub by Stepney Green hence always packed.
J. D.
Alright place to go for a quick pretty drink or some pub grub . Never had a bad meal here drinks are cheap but not always the best quality . Staff are quite quick even at the busiest times . Would recommend
W. J.
Good friendly staff all the beers you want... And food...
M. T.
Nice place, good beers as well cocktails, fine food even if I would like it hotter, it was only warm.. Quite cheap for sure! A little cold inside
D. F.
It always been my favourite pub in London. Super cheap and super friendly staff. I really suggest to go there for drinks/food.
C. P.
One half of the pub is very nice, the other half is a little dingy. There's also a very interesting mix of clientele. That said, it's quite a nice Wetherspoons that offers everything you'd expect.
B. W.
Had a cosy little lunch.
You pay for what you get it is Wetherspoons after all
N. S.
very nice outside seating, fast service and good food. i always loved wetherspoons for its cheap but good food, but i think this one is my new favourite :)
D.
Nice place, there's a nice outside area as well
T.
It's a good place for drinks as they have an outside area where you can either stand or sit. The food though is terrible that's why they get 3 stars.
M. Z.
Very good place. Food is tasty, reasonable prices, cozy design and friendly stuff. Personally I liked that you can refill cap with coffee for free.
I. C.
Relaxed place where you can feel at home from second 1. I got Chilli con Carne, a delicious bowl of chips. All tasty, clean. The service is not super quick but it's fine given the very affordable price
m. p.
Good for student and cheap drinks. Food are good aswell
D. V.
One of the better Wetherspoons and just about the only pub left in an Islamic alcohol-free zone. Acts as a student bar for a nearby university, so predominantly young clientele.
A. H.
A typical Wetherspoons, which I think is a good thing, with plenty of beers for half the price of other pubs and lots of areas to sit in, both inside and out. Great value.
E. P.
Pretty nice for a Wetherspoons, loads of space with a nice outside section. Service was mega slow, however, waited 30+ minutes for food and drinks.
D. C.
The food was good and cheap compared to other pubs. We had a full English Breakfast which was enough for a perfect start into a long day...
A. A.
Your standard pub with a good outside seating
S. E.
A weatherspoons with a difference no smoking outside unless at specific table, and only.one table suppose it's the woke uni students that have made this happen perhaps they can change history at the same time
J. P.
Usual reasonable quality Wetherspoons food in a former theatre. Busy but not too noisy. Good atmosphere and beer.
H. H.
Amazing fried chicken burger. Fries and onion rings always on fleek! :) twice I went and the frier was broken so I couldn't have my chicken and I was sad :( apart from that - best spoons ever!
i. M.
The place is always packed. The service is ok. You must go and order your drinks or food, as any usual pub in London. Nice and fine service.
J. P.
Nice and reasonable prices for students and young people good place to enjoy the time with the friends and to have some quick nibbling, also good for tourist if you dont want to spend to much money!!!! :)
J. D.
Amazing value for money!! Decent pub grub. Can be hard to get a seat, I guess that's the price you pay for a great local!
D. B.
Its a pretty typical busy weatherspoons. Staff were efficient and friendly and there is an outside courtyard. The food and drink is reasonably priced.
V. U.
Friendly staff, great service, good price.
D. C.
Standard JD Wetherspoon pub serving standard menus at reasonable prices. Does have a lot of students in during the day due to being close to local college.
P. M.
Great bistro pub, good atmosphere and affordable prices. Some European bar staff however could do with ESOL but other than that a fine afternoon.
D. F. (.
Very good, very cheap
J. S.
It’s lit
N. K.
A very large and friendly Wetherspoons pub. It's pretty much like all the others. Good cheap drinks and food, and a friendly if slightly sterile vibe.
m. s.
The food is decent with very affordable prices. One of my favourite places to go if I'm just looking to get a bite of sonething.
G. D. B.
Nice local place where you can spend some time with your friends in front of some cheap but good beer and chips, or other food or drinks you may like. Suggested!
D. D.
Beer...food..good service.
What's more to add?
Perfect combo. 👍
j. w.
Was slightly rammed and the seats were uncomfortable but grub was good.
R. R.
Cheap, cheerful but very noisy. Not really the right venue for a quiet têtê-á-têtê but good choice for a jolly group get together.
E. c.
Only called in for a soft drink but it looks clean and spacious
M. K.
Ahhh,. the memories.
Nice open glass view, every morning I wanted to relax, full english breakfast and a monster green, and later a cheesecake. While I check stuff on the internet with free wifi.
A joke. Once I ordered chessecake but didn't pronounced it well. I got a Tyskie beer. Hahaha!!!
L. G.
It's an amazing place, amazing food and awesome service. I'd you want table service, it's best if you download Wetherspoon app. It's more convenient
C. J.
It was a lovely pub the staff was very friendly and very helpful and polite too
S. L.
Great Spoons pub one minute from the tube. Great bar area with large glass walls. Lovely beer garden.
A. F.
One of my favourite spoons! Especially during the summer they have really cozy terrace! If you around step up for a pinte
F. M.
Nice big 'Spoons pub. Spacious area at the back. Great prices, as you can imagine from a wetherspoons. Large outdoor area. Lighting is cosy. Recommended
S. C.
Standard Wetherspoons affair; cheap no frills food, large selection of drink. Lovely building, par for the course for most Wetherspoons, and has an outside seating area
B. T.
For sure is one of the best pubs around Stepney Green, is next to my house and I'm passing to drink a Punk IPA and eat an Empire State Burguer.
P. D.
Great staff welcoming
T. K.
A lovely and a great sized pub with good food and drink choices. Filled with buzzing crowd makes it a great choice for a quick pint or few.
A. D.
Love this pub. Always busy, so difficult to find a place to sit. Try their steak and burgers
S. P.
Nice service wheelchair friendly seating area inside and out. Good pricing nice for family to go for meal or a good catch up with mates for few drinks
M. D.
We love this place! Easy going and comfy atmosphere, great prices- just take a seat, order through your smartphone, and enjoy!
J. S.
The pub is very friendly, doorman are very polite, great bastaff, who work really hard, considering the place is packed and served with professionlism, awesome pub, a must visit👍🍺😀
V. H.
Surprisingly a solid Wetherspoons pub wirh a good vibe made by students from local unis. Cheap good quality ales and curry / burger nights as always.
J. N.
I love that they have a spacious gardeb where you can sit however the food was a disappointment last time - fish & chips was amazing but the beef sandwich had a burnt taste and nothing else.
Z. R.
Friendly staff, good choice of food. Quite cheap prices for the area. difficult to find a parking space
B. T.
Great local and good pub food.
J. M.
Biggest weatherspoons I’ve seen; didn’t impact on the service though, we got served impressively quickly considering how busy it was. Would recommend.
D. L.
Great Spoons. If I lived round here I would visit more often.
Ž. K.
Very nice pub with outside tables. With great food and even beter beer. And is affordable for anyone. 👍
F. R.
Fair prices. Self service, which is totally okay. Food was good only the onion rings were very soaked with oil...
A. E.
Large, spacious pub full of old fellas in the morning and students at night. The food and drink is standard for a 'Spoons, as are the prices.
G. A.
Good. But parson serving food not wearing a mask!
D. A.
This is part of the sprawling knotweed of a pub empire that is Wetherspoons. As such it's a great place to get hammered in average surroundings. It's also dirt cheap for London so about 107% of the clientele are QMUL students.
A. K.
Great service, good prices and a really nice beer garden makes this pub an excellent place to hang out with friends.
S. L.
It's ok great service
S.
Staff are so lovely. I like the different options for seating: indoors (typical pub style), in the conservatory or outdoors.
M. S.
Used to be my local place. Doesn't need advertising as it's always packed and hard to get a table. Great food and reasonably priced
R. W.
Wetherspoon pub....sometimes gets very busy so a wait for food. Nice place for a meet with a good beer n good food available.
M.
Went in for breakfast. Tables were filthy. Has to clean mine despite staff walking past and apparently not noticing. Food was ok and arrived quickly.
F. N. M.
Cheap food and drinks. I went at breakfest. There is an all day coffee for just 1,30. Excelent experience!
D. S.
A fine venue rescued by the Wetherspoons portfolio. You know already all you need to: various variable large spaces, indoors and out. Sadly, occasionally variable kitchen.
S.
Great place, good food, lovely garden.
C. B.
Food we had was great, drinks came quite quickly after we ordered on the app!! We will be back really soon
G. C. M.
An interesting place to people watch, or just to have a catch-up with friends. Decently priced drinks too. Nice food also.
A.
Price wise it's for a student budget and kudos for that. Food was okay, nothing special now but staff.... But there is nothing I could compare staff on how slow they are -they're really slow!
T. H.
Wonderful service, good prices and a lovely ambience! Very chilled and nice place to hang out for an evening :)
N. C.
Great size, great selection if beers and excellent beer garden considering it's on one of the busiest roads in London!
C. B.
Natalia served us all night with amazing service. Natalia is the best. Natalie made our night t. Natalia is the reason we come here. Absolutelytl the best, Natalia.
C. C.
Love it there. Very cosy and the food is cheap and delicious. Been several times there and will continue to go there.
M. R.
Pretty good pub, drinks are priced nicely and very open, easy entrance, when I go in their is no one to check for ID at the garden entrance so overall an nice easy atmosphere
A. S.
Very fair prices and service to match. Definitely a place for a quiet drink but also very lively during the weekends
N. M.
Wonderful sprawling building with huge character. Lovely beer garden. Great ales and tasty food, very low prices.
S. W.
Has great customer service good selection of drinks. The eggs Benedict is decent, for the price.
E.
Good location, good menu, good drinks, good for seeing mates. Only problem is the chips were kinda mushy.
S. S.
Very good PUB between Stepney Green and Mile End, is very cheap as well so u can drink a lot of beers and more haha.
C. W.
Nice pub, friendly staff and good prices. Toilets were a bit gross on the Friday night I was there
C. F.
Great breakfast options and really affordable! Lovely outdoors space to have food when its warm.
T. G.
Large pub with two decent sized bar rooms, plenty of space to sit down for the value for money meals and a two minute walk from Stepney Grn station
C. P.
This place 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 the food is great, the drinks are great and the price of everything 👍🏾👍🏾 one of my favourite spots in london
P. D.
Place was quite busy and food took a while to come out. The chicken burger was also quite dry so I was a bit disappointed.
v. g. r.
Good place with a great vibe ,the drinks are cheap, really cheap and they have some good pizzas and dessert
M. M. R.
It's good place to drink a good beer. They have variety and it's nice to take a place and to chat with your friends
M. P.
One of the best Spoons in east london, mostly not packed and has a nice outdoors garden/smoking area
S. H.
Cheep beer cheep food good for all ages although under 18 sent allowed in after 7 but it's a good family restraint and pub for your mates
L. G.
Good burguer, nice staff
C. W.
Great service, great staff, cheap dinner
A. B.
Usual Wetherspoon venue and service. Has nice outdoor area. Gets noisy when sport on TV (why?) Also has door staff/guards!
M. J.
Very good food with not to long a wait for it to come to the table . Very good selection of beers at a reasonable price.
.
J. “. N.
Good pub and great atmosphere, but can get really busy during the evening.
B. K.
Great pub with several bars and nice outdoor seating. Lunch menu pretty good.

A. F.
Cheap and not too busy on a Friday night
K. D.
It's a lovely place great atmosphere and such a lovely range of prices is really cheap.
M. R.
Very average food. Great if you like standing to drink. Limited seating inside.
M. G.
Busy, cheerful, efficient pub with helpful and polite staff! Drinking beer in a church pew is a novel experience.
A. D.
Great Wetherspoons with loads of beer options. Loved the outdoor space and the attentive customer service.
M. C. (.
Love this place! Love the brunch! Reasonable price and tasty food. A good place to spend the morning.

Pretty big place, cheap drinks and food. Nice outdoor area too. One of the better Wetherspoons.
J. T.
Good place, morning or evening to hang out. Good variety of food & beverages. Chain is easily located on its Web site.

What a great Spoons. Great atmosphere! Two bars. Ales excellent. Whats not to like.
H. Z.
Quite a large pub with plenty of tables and friendly staff. The food here is OK, and the service is fast.
O. E.
First time at Wetherspoons. Great staff and delicious food. Thank you very much.
X. A.
Very nice terrace, and universitary atmosphere, not the typical wetherspoon.
M. L. D.
Had a great time no trouble makers there everyone is so chilled and great food too

J. A.
Brilliant.. great atmosphere.. friendly staff.. and on a busy night pretty quick service..
B. W.
A typical Weatherspoons pub, cheap drinks but a lower quality of food. A good place to take a group of friends.
M. E.
