Reviews of The Hole In The Wall
J. B.
Best pub in London by a long way. Staff extra competent and friendly and amazing selection of beers, great atmosphere. Been going there for 20+ years and never had a bad night. Picking up after lockdown and so glad its survived
T. F.
Great place for a pint. Independent pub in spitting distance of Waterloo station entrance. Some great local beers on tap and not overly pricey.
S. H.
Great selection of beers. Nice traditional pub atmosphere. Pipe in the beer garden looks to have been leaking for many a year. Overall, a pleasant experience.
J. W. H.
I was here for the first and only time back in 1979! Stumbled across it today by accident as I rarely visit Waterloo. It doesn't look as if it has changed much, and a good thing too! One of the few truly independent boozers still around. Anyhow I enjoyed my evening there many years ago and I'm sure I would again if/when the occasion arises.
V. C.
A real old fashioned pub, hasn't been updated in years so won't suit the fashion conscious, but if you want a really good pint and a catch up with a mate it's just the ticket.
J. S.
There's something I like about this little hole in the wall but not quite sure what it is. Good for a meeting point as it's directly underneath Waterloo Station. Always meet here to start our evening in the west end. Drinks reasonably priced for area.
C. T.
Superb atmosphere, unreal beer options and decent prices.
C. G.
Quirky little place hidden round the side of Waterloo station. A few decent beers on....I liked it (although, I was the only person in at the time).
C. B.
Been here quite a few tines over the years. Nice pub with a good range of ales and a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
K.
Appearances can be deceiving. A good choice of beers and drinks and a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and I have been assured it gets even better later. If you want great music played whilst you drink, this is the place.
S. C.
I had mixed feelings about this pub. The staff were lovely. The name of the pub was a clear indication of a working man's pub so all good. But no Christmas decorations at Christmas.
T. O.
Great pub. No rip-off prices. Great selection of Cider as well as real ales.
C. B.
Quirky but seemingly always busy pub situated in a railway arch. Not sure whether they are serving food ATM as we drunk in the front bar this time. Great selection of ales, have sport on large TVs in rear bar, usually a good buzz in the place. A good meeting place for rugby fans if there's a game at Twickers, esp the double header at the start of the season, fans from 4 clubs all meeting in the same place, great atmos. Only downside is that the gents loo is prone to having a very wet floor when busy, can't all be down to a bad aim, possible plumbing problem I reckon. Don't know about the girlies loo, heard no bad reports. Five stars without the loo flooding.
j. n.
Quirky under the arches pub. Quirky and historic without needing to try! Two bars, a beer garden, lots of choice of beers. Wasn’t hungry enough to try the food, may well do next time as it looked as though it was priced very reasonably.
I love the way you can hear the trains going overhead!
m. d.
Pub hasn't fully recovered from the pandemic closure yet. The toilets have been refurbished and look great now. Don't like the glass covid barrier between bar and the customer but probably still necessary. Bar staff are friendly.
K. H.
This pub is a special moment in a city of fakes and brands. Awesome selection of IPA and cider. Old school spit and sawdust styles.. I liked it very much
D. P.
Lovely boozer.. real spit and sawdust. A pub from the 60s gangsters scene.. certainly no frills. Reasonably priced and a fine selection of beers. Tea or coffee for those not wanting an alcoholic drink. Tvs showing sport and piped music as a soundtrack. Especially nice for me to visit as my granddad used to drink in here during his life working on the railways. I could feel him.
J. B.
Very much a standard pub. Smells like beer and the floor is sticky as hell... but its a much more normal pub in a very central location - so can't complain!
L. -.
Absolutely love this pub, proper place with a good selection at a really good price. The staff are always friendly. Really can't beat it if you're looking for a drink near Waterloo
M. W.
Great little pub opposite the entrance to Waterloo Station. I was the only one in on Wednesday afternoon but the barman Joe was very friendly and willing to have a chat.
Always my first port of call when in London.
R. E.
Had my first legal pint in this fine establishment best part of 35 years ago. Was old school watering hole and remains so in the 21st Century - despite the passing years and encroachment of wine bars, tap rooms and other refinements... First time since the pandemic and as we approached there was a frisson of anxiety as from a distance all I could see was a KFC... And I feared the worst. However as we got closer and could see past the glare of Colonel Sanders it was still there... Lurking under the arch and calling to me like the mermaid on the Lorelei. Fine array of beers. Only reason for it being 4 stars rather than 5 is that at some point over the last 35 years they've removed the sticky carpet and cleaned the floor...
M. D.
Perfect name for a pub under the train tracks. Good service and selection. Maybe lacking a clear identity.
L. M.
Now that the bars have closed in Waterloo Station this is the only place to get a drink nearby. It's literally a 2 min walk to get there. Bar staff are a bit miserable but the beer is good
I. G.
A London landmark for Beer 🍺 drinkers.
Great cheap and cheerful boozer next to Waterloo station, there is always a buzz around this place.
Great back yard for smokers and 3 bid screen HDMI TVs to watch football or rugby on.
Open all week long children are allowed until 9pm in the main bar area .
Dogs are welcome.
T. J.
All pints under a fiver! Mad youd struggle to get that in zone 8. Nice staff too, will definitely be my pre train stop
D. D.
Decent old school boozer in an area dominated by overpriced lager joints. Needs better variation on real ales though. Doom bar, ghost ship. C'mon guy's try harder.
L. M.
I enjoy the hole in the wall just outside Waterloo and a great stop off point has its own energy give it a try. A decent selection of beverages slso
L. A.
Proper pub conviently by Waterloo Station. Good selection of beers. Old school 😊
M. L.
Fab bar, great staff, lovely cold beer, great atmosphere and super quirky when the bar rattles as the trains run past! Love it!
A. W.
Grab a beer while you wait for the train. Ive met some pretty wierd people in here on several occasions. Its a good spot. Peace
R. P.
Great range of cask ales, cosy and eclectic front bar and much larger bar to the rear.
M. T.
My favourite spot for a cheeky drink while waiting for my overground train. The drinks are reasonably priced for the area.
J. R.
Great friendly pub. Close to Waterloo station with good selection of real ale. Staff are megga.
I. M.
Stopped for a pint of TEA before getting a train back home from Waterloo. Been coming here since 1991 and it never disappoints.
D. B.
A really nice quiet spot that has a very pre prohibition vibe! Great drinks at great prices
j. d.
Nice little place, tucked just out of sight from Waterloo. Nice staff & reasonably priced beer 🍻
K. S.
Old school toilet of a pub. Decent beer and Tayto crisps. Reminds me a bit of the Good Mixer in Camden (closed down) minus the aging hipsters. Last time we were there a bald guy that looked like an actor version of Jeff Bezos was buying his team of Devs a billion rounds of jägerbombs. They appeared to be impervious to the effects so maybe they were nexus 6 or reptiles from V or their knowledge of regular expressions transmuted the potency of the harsh spirits.
s. z.
Excellent pub. Great selection of beers and a lively atmosphere. Very reasonably priced pub food. TV screens showing sports. There is a small outdoor area as well. Great pub.
p. G.
I've always loved popping into this place when passing through Waterloo.
Sad to see it so quiet this afternoon...please give it a try folks.
Use it or lose it.
I. Y.
Went to the Hole in the Wall prior to a football match and had a choice of seven real ales. Had three different London brewery beers which were well kept, along with Chilli con carne. Food was okay and not expensive. Service was swift and the front bar (which has decent leather chairs) is recommended. The main bar area is very basic and the loos less than basic.
The pub’s greatest features are its proximity to Waterloo, so a great place to rendezvous, that it is relatively quiet, not pricey and has a very good range of beers.
M. O.
I liked the place. It feels locals only bar and I like that. The only bummer was they had a rugby menu so it was sandwiches only at the time. Not a mark against the bar but something to be aware. We wanted fish and chips but twas not to be.
R.
Great staff and cheap beer
J. N.
Great atmospheric pub, ideal for pre & post Rugby drinks.
M. S.
A good local pub to the train station a good selection of beers as well
D. B.
Probably the best pub in Waterloo. Lovely little charm.
G. H.
It's fine for stopping in for a quick pint while waiting for your train.
M. a. t. H.
Lovely stop of for a quick pint while your guests are running late.
R. H.
The weary travellers rest. Got selection of ales and fine tunes. Go on give it a try.
A. S.
Still has good quality beer. Only opens at 2pm in the afternoon.
D. R.
For a pub right outside Waterloo prices are amazingly cheap. Also good beer so no compromise on that front. Music is good, sports on the telly if that's your thing. Highly recommended if you want a quick few pints. Not a family or food place at all, but it doesn't pretend to be either.
A. S.
Lovely place!
I have visited it at 8 in the evening.
And there are two different areas to sit inside. One is full of chairs and tables. The other side is quite large and musical.
The cost of one beer starts with £5. So it's similar to other pubs and bars, according to rate chart.
The bar tenders are good. And varieties of drinks made my evening.
B.
Nice pub - given its location, reasonably priced
T. H.
Been updated and many licks of paint during lock down
Historic meeting place
K. E.
The place for a pint before the train. Consistent good beer and a unique 'spit & sawdust' pub environment
1.
Worth a visit, strange little venue, but the beer was top notch
S. T.
Superb pub. Ales are all very well kept, staff don't faff around behind the bar, they serve people quickly and politely. A brilliant venue for the yearly Army Navy rugby match at Twickenham (best bacon rolls in London!).
The best pub in the Waterloo area.
r. b.
No nonsense. Doesn't look lovely but they get you served quickly, they have a great range of craft beers and ciders. Standard pub burger style food and they have Sky. It's a bit quieter in the front bar. You can smoke out the back but it's a yard, not a garden. Toilets are a bit old school. Basically, it's just shabby enough to keep out casual drinkers and families... I don't think I've ever seen a toddler in here. Fantastic place to kill some time right next to Waterloo.
A. M.
Still a good old fashioned drinkers pub under the arches. Great range of Cask ales, well kept. The food is so reasonably priced for a London pub! Not a massive menu but very nice, and freshly made. I had a texan bbq burger and chips. Really really nice. A pleasure to find affordable pub grub this close to Central London. All mains under £8 and baguettes etc under a fiver. Bargain.
S.
A quick beer before the train or catching up with friends you will always find a good selection of beers. Staff are efficient but it's a London pub so very busy and not much time to chat. Quite loud but under railway so never going to be an oasis of peace and quiet.
D. H.
Great genuine old style of pub from the type I used to go to when I was younger. A wonderful find in this area of London. Decent beer. Let's hope it stays around for a long time and doesn't get redeveloped.
R. A.
Nice traditional pub set under railway arches. Good selection of reasonably priced beer. The only problem with the place is that I've found the staff to be quite rude on a number of occasions.
I was in last night and the barmaid in the front bar turned her back to the customers and called "someone better order a drink now or I'll go into the next bar!"
When I bought a drink, the barmaid made a sarcastic quip about how it's a £5 minimum on the card machine and how "we have a little sign behind the bar".
This sort of attitude seems unnecessary!
A.
Feels like a time warp sort of place. Really cheap and cheerful food (fish and chips was £8 I think?) and a lively atmosphere.
It looks really run down from the outside and then does not belie its interior which is extremely dilapidated.
Buuuut it's not at all dodgy and it feels much less pretentious than many of the other pubs in the area!
J. N.
Old school pub to go to before getting our train home from Waterloo.
I. O.
Perfect place to meet with people as it's stupid close to Waterloo station. Good selection of ales and lagers with plenty of screens for sports. There's a smaller quiet room at the front of the pub if you fancy that instead.
M. T.
Will always have a special place in my heart , I had my first date with my partner here ❤
R. W.
No frills boozer. Good beer selection
S. R.
I think everyone needs to experience this pub once in their life. A very interesting crowd, but very welcoming. Toilet smells horrific, and rather oddly if you fancy playing the Fruit Machine, remember to take old pound coins.....
J. T.
Great pub, old school decor and prices. Good service and choice. Little snug bar to chill out at front. Gets very busy during big football matches and keep moving your feet when in the toilet so you don't get stuck to the floor! Love it.
A. M.
Great atmosphere on a Sunday evening
C. S.
The pub had a great choice of beers and I loved the decor about the place! We were delighted to find the place because we needed somewhere to watch the Palace/Liverpool match before our River Cruise. I'd say on a sunny afternoon it would probably earn 5 stars, however it was spilling inside and out on the day we went in! An 's' after the word hole might be more appropriate making it plural, but if they got busy with a silicon gun and dried the place up a bit it could be 5 stars no matter the weather
S. -.
You want to smell hangover? Go here!
Had some great beer, toilets are great addition to have the complete pub experience, i even sawe someone puking in the toilets!
Would go again for the beers and sandwiches!
P. A.
Always liked this pub and visited regularly when stopping in the area. First time in there for about four or five years and luckily it hadn't changed. Nice atmosphere, nice staff, nice surroundings and a great point of Guinness
h. m.
Old school cheap boozer in the middle of very expensive waterloo. Makes a change from the over priced bars and gastro pubs in the area.
Nothing amazingly special but if you are looking for a cold pint at a good price then good place to go.
S. H.
Came in with a friend, got a drink and unfortunately there were two flies in my glass. The barman was really apologetic and got me a new one straight away. Unfortunately the pub has quite a musty smell and didn't make me feel I was in the cleanest of places. It's such a good location and the barman gave good customer service but it needs a revamp and a mega clean. I'd come here all the time otherwise! :)
M. W.
Great pub under the railway arches at Waterloo , great for meeting friends before catching a train home or general meeting place near the station. Good selection of real ales and other beers also served food. Gets really busy and a little noisy but service is good and staff are friendly
C. P.
An inexplicable entity which, had the natural order taken effect, should by now be a wine bar. The beer is terribly mediocre, the food inexcusable, but damnit the place is full of charm. A thumb in the eye of pub cos and chain bars and to be applauded as such. Waterproof shoes a must when visiting the gents.
M. B.
Let's face it, the Hole is a bit of a dive, but worth a visit for a snifter while waiting for your delayed South Western Railway train. Ignore the main bar, which has all the ambience of a gents lavatory, and instead go in the snug - no TVs, no gaming machines. Oh, and no service, so buy your drink at the main bar and then take it into the snug. Best thing? A large glass of pinot grigio for under £5.
D. R.
It's dirty and old, the whole place vibrates as trains go over the top, and the beer garden is a barely disguised prison yard. It's also probably my favourite central London pub - prices are fantastic for the area and the whole atmosphere is just great.
B. S.
This is one of my favourite pubs in London, as it can truly be described as an unpretentious boozer in central London. Big space, but always busy. Not everyone's cup of tea but if you like pubs as they were 25 years ago this is your place in Waterloo.
B. C.
Nice little bar friendly staff good for the railway station
G. M.
Just happened to be here at the time most people are finished in work on a Friday, do it was super busy. Speaking to people I were with, this pub is somewhat of a tradition for those going home via Waterloo after work, it close total the station (but not in it) and plays loud music, is cramped and dirty (in a good way). Some otudoor seating and inside too, though you'll likely have to stand as it's so busy. 3 star as the toilet is tiny, the cubicle doesn't lock and is absolutely disgusting in there.
J. M.
Quirky little pub under a railway arch outside Waterloo Station. Sky Sports available, and there is a small walled 'garden' which is more a smoking area. Toilets are small and ALWAYS smelly! Good selection of beers though.
J. J.
Looks like a bit of a dive from the outside but surprisingly spacious, clean and well decorated inside - except for the toilets which need updating, hence only 3 stars. Excellent selection of beers.
B. K.
Great pub just outside Waterloo Station.
A. S.
Good priced beer and decent pub food. They have a good collection of board games too. Conveniently located right outside the station, do consider dropping in for a pint if you don't want to spend too much at the other spots located in the neighbourhood.
D. H.
Real ale drinker's pub under the Waterloo arches, it hasn't changed much in 30 or so years. If you looking for a pub to take the new person in your life, I recommend you leave this for at the second or third date (at least that's the impression my wife of 40+ years gave me).
P. Y.
Cozy atmosphere and kind bar staff
r. k.
Still missing kronenburg. But great staff and atmosphere. ☺️
H. J.
Ended up here after a long day of sightseeing (started in Shepherd’s Bush by Westfield) in April. The staff recommended amazing beer (can’t remember which). I stayed here for about a half hour before I asked for directions to the underground so I could return to my hotel. The place was not packed and I seemed to be the only woman in the place. But it was not a peak time of day so I couldn’t say how it is during busier times. But the expirience was a good one as far as going to a pub solo for a drink could go.
H. G.
Prices were good. Beer was good. Kind of a cool thing with the train overhead. Grungy pub decor. The bartenders looked like they wanted to cut themselves though and showed it through their attitudes...
P. S.
Brilliant range of good quality beers. High turnover so always fresh. Good prices for central London. Very shabby inside, but that adds to the charm.
s.
The gnarliest pub in Waterloo along with the Crown and Cushion. Long may it remain.
D. T.
If you went to cheap pubs in the 80s and very early 90s then this pub will feel very familiar. A classic pub completely without pretension. This is not a place that anybody would be likely to take a date, nor a tourist be inclined to take a photograph. It is somewhere that my grandfather would have loved to have a pint, a smoke, and go through the newspaper before putting a bet on. A very specific type of traditional pub and a very endangered species in the London of today.
M. M.
This place is always busy, extremely rough and ready, sells a wide selection of ales, lagers and spirits plus a proper sausage sandwich. Be warned tho', unless you like "drinkers pubs", you may be happier elsewhere.
s. p.
Absolutely love this Pub...Spent many an evening there back in the 70,s and 80,s..Very good back then, and pleased to see every bit as good now.In fact it,s a bit of a Time-Warp place, its not changed!! I think the food is very reasonably priced, and you gets what you pay for here too..Warm atmosphere, and very good Guiness..
L. K.
Decent selection of beer. Pretty dated looking place in need of a little renovation. Toilets leave a little to be desired. Plenty of seats and tables though
A. B.
Nice bar with a good selection of drinks and very close to Waterloo station. The staff there seem friendly however the toilets aren't pleasant and children are not allowed outside.
J. M.
Not exactly one of London's seediest pubs, but also it doesn't try to compete with any of its swankier neighbouring bars.
it's there for one thing and one thing only: drinking whilst waiting for your train from Waterloo.
Okay, maybe watching the football or rugby too.
Outside smoking area for the hard core...
G. H.
A pub which lives up to its name, The Hole In The Wall is a small and dark building hidden underneath the railway arches outside Waterloo. Despite is crumbly exterior and dingy innards, the prices are reasonable and there is a a good atmosphere overall. The small outside beer garden is very utilitarian, but is nice to sit in for an evening with friends.
p. g.
Decent beers on tap and the food for the price is fantastic. Definitely get yourself the beef cheese burger and chips you won't go wrong. I like the setting too.
J. S.
It's an unusual place built under a railway bridge opposite Waterloo Station you can get basic pub food at a good price its tasty. It as a really good atmosphere and is always busy when I go there. Friendly staff
K. M.
Good traditional boozer if you are in Waterloo. Reasonable choice of beers, but this is no Craft house. I love the rumble of the overhead trains, it feels like old London in there underneath the arches.
B. W.
Now really, this is probably the greatest pub in London, although I recommend you wear your finest gum boots to the bathroom and bring an appreciation of genuine 1970s practicalities. 5 stars, an opus, a triumph a masterpiece. And the company.
M. B.
A proper pub in the middle of Waterloo.
P. J.
Don't go here expecting Michelin Stars. Go here for an honest pint, banter at the bar and no judgement. Male to female ratio is far outweighed and it has a feel of the old school working man's club but it's not intimidating or pretentious.
J. S.
Step out of a world gone mad, and rewind 30 years in this 'underneath the arches' London boozer. Does a good job of satisfying both real ale and lager drinkers - with offbeat service, and 1980s decor. A refuge in a thin-skinned world.
V. K.
Probably the cheapest pub in the area. The decor seems hardly unchanged since I first visited over 30 years ago. If you like no fuss pubs and real ale at a reasonable price it would be the place to go.
R. G. C.
The chicken goujons will stay with me until my dying day, stories shall be told to my grandchildren of this place. It took our fancy from the get go, from the station it looks as if a simple, quaint small London pub but after entering the establishment and passing through to the restaurant my world was changed. The music was authentically British and immedietly put us in a delightfully playful mood, was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the food and general atmosphere of this lovely venue.
Beer cold
Goujons banging
What more can you want.
S. P.
A rare sighta down to earth pub on the South Bank. Decent prices, tons of gravity pour "old man beers" as people obsessed with recapturing their youth via drinking like myself call them, and a pretty heavy focus on sport: tennis, winter Olympics, football, rugby all shown on big streams. Crazily cheap food. Short distance to leg it to the last train from Waterloo.
C. P.
Good pub right next to Waterloo station. Has sky sports with a couple of t.vs.one in the bar and the other in the smoking area/garden.good selection of beers and ciders
P. C.
1970'e style pub with a very good beer selection. (Actually, I think it just hasn't been refurbished since the 1970s. This is not a criticism).
J. H.
I bit grubby and toilets really unpleasant but if you like a more down to earth pub then it's for you. Also their non-alcoholic beer was ok and nice selection of soft drinks.
A. M.
Quirky pub, nice atmosphere
J. H.
Really enjoyed this pub and revisited on the way home after Rugby. Treated to great Irish music with very friendly people. Excellent public house.
A. K.
My husband and I came here with our kids, we came here to watch the football game Tottenham v Watford
Nice pub, old fashioned, served food and different ales and beer clean toilets are very close to the station, shame the sound wasn't loud enough to listen to the commentary on that day. Nice friendly staff.
S.
Traditional non-gentrified boozer right by Waterloo. Great selection on tap which you might get to try depending on whether the bar staff decide to serve you or not.
M. S.
It Smells a bit, it's Dark, the Garden(ish) feels like your in a prison, but you cant say its name isn't spot on. It's the best hole by Waterloo. Many evenings have been enjoyed passing through. Good beer, good staff, cheers
D. M.
Best pub in Waterloo
E. C. D.
Good old fashion pub no musack place to talk
R. O.
This place is like marmite, you either love it or you hate it! It's a traditional English "boozer" with cheap prices for a London pub!
Lovely staff, good music, open Face kitchen, all good!!
M.
Good locals pub with a football crowd. There was live music from an Irish band playing in the smaller front bar when I was here. Beer selection is reasonable.
j. j.
I like this place. It's right next to Waterloo station and it's just got a real pub feeling to it. Not like a weather spoons or a fuller's.
For some good drinks on and an intresting setting. I go here as much as I can...sometimes I miss the train on purpose.
S. H.
Manky place and over priced. It has some good beer options but I'd only visit again if there was nowhere else open. Staff were pretty unpleasant and intimidating too.
D. T.
Great down to earth pub underneath the arches. Good beer but the WiFi was not good in the small bar so not much reviewing. (Posted from the Windmill round the corner)
M. S.
Cracking pub. One of the few pubs in the area that hasn't been 'fixed' and it is much better off for it. Stepping in this pub is like steeping back into a a central London pub in the 90's. Great spot for after work beers and a friendly crowd.
S. G.
Convenient for a quick pre train journey pint or alternative beverage. Steeped in history including my Great Uncle who drank in here before heading off to the Far East to join the campaign against the Japanese during World War 2.
S. B.
Let's be honest this is a great old time pub with charm. Yes you may stick to the floor in certain areas the gents maybe classic pub dirty.
But for location, price, company and atmosphere of pop and rock songs from the 70s 80s and 90s you really cannot get any better.
K. K.
Great pub by Waterloo Station. Arsenal vs Man U were playing, couldn't even move. After the game had plenty of room. Plenty of choices and lots of energy.
P. J.
Great atmosphere and ales
A. S.
Unsurprisingly busy pub with a good selection of beers. Sport on the tv and varied clientele still allowed space for conversation.
C. K.
Great authentic pub experience
G. B.
Affectionately known as "The Hole". Been coming here for years. Hasn't changed - great atmosphere and friendly - have met all sorts from all over. It's one of those - you love it or you go somewhere else, no worries.
A. D.
Nice findand cheap prices for london
T. B.
Best pub in London
S. R.
A cracking pub, I was in there 2 weeks ago and I'll be in tomorrow. Great selection of beers and very good young bar staff.
J. W.
This pub has great character. I love it when a train rumbles overhead. The whole place shakes. They also have a good selection of ales.
E. K.
I didnt actually get a chance to visit this bar but on my way back to my hostel around midnight I came across it. One of my favorite bars in Austin, TX is The Hole In The Wall, and to randomly find myself staring at The Hole In The Wall in London was quite a treat. I look forward to going inside on my next adventure to London!
J. C.
Was ok, we popped in on the way past and had ime pint which was fine, however I was standing at the bar waiting to be served, it wasn't busy and I was next to be served after the guy currently, so I was fairly obvious. A "local" then approached the bar just as it was my turn to be served, and the bar maid waltzed past me to serve him. I had to intervene and say " excuse me, I'm waiting here!" then it just felt awkward.
J. T.
A proper pub. Great atmosphere. Fantastic drink selection. Good food. The do charge for card transactions though which seems a little outdated.
E. R.
Well priced and friendly with a good selection. of beers and a small garden.
lacking in comfort but still be favorite near to Waterloo pub
M. N.
At last! A decent pub in Camberley! Good range of beers, great staff and very pleasant surroundings.
b. d.
Go here alot, nice pub. Can get a bit packed sometimes, but nice place.
Main downside is the outdoor area. BARELY a roof above your head. Awful even with just a drizzle =(
F. M.
A perfect British boozer along the railway station. The feeling is genuine. Beer on tap, a plenty of type.
D. N.
An authentic 1950's experience. The smell in the back bar is exactly like pubs smelt in 1959. The carpet squelches like a sponge and there's people around the door and corridors who are best described as "well dodgy" - it looks like someone might offer to sell you petrol coupons. But it's a laugh - and you don't worry about spilling a beer, and the furniture's all broken, and they sell pickled eggs off the bar. The night we were in there was a flashmob sword dance!!
All in all, the Hole needs to be seen to be believed. Like Venice, there is nowhere else like it in the world (and it's as damp as Venice too).
M. G.
A pretty basic pub opposite Waterloo Station, could say spit & sawdust type pub. Cheap beer, serves food. Always pretty popular with travellers.
L. K.
Friendly pub with great selection of beers. Food available until 8pm on Sundays and 9pm the rest of the week. Throughly recommended
G. H.
Top pub near Waterloo Rail Terminus, an institution for many years, over 30, at least ! Busy Pub. Sports TV, wide selection of Beers and proper Pub grub..
K. W.
A typical English pub where locals go. Great atmosphere. You can feel the overground line right above it when the tables are shaking. Adds to the experience
M. A.
Cool place hiding away in busy Waterloo. Love the rumbling of the trains overhead, makes for an interesting atmosphere. It's a bit of a gritty boozer but that's it's charm.
D. C.
Traditional London pub. No spit or sawdust but close to it. Pint of Youngs bitter was very good.
N. F.
Dark and dirty, old fashioned pub. Great location, just outside Waterloo Station. Makes a change from all the fancy pubs and bars in the area.
S. W.
Amazing music every Sunday night, good selection on the bar, but the loos could definitely do with a makeover.
D. N.
4 stars but please don't get confused :D it is a great pub with outdoor seating and mostly nice staff, however not the nicest pub I London. However it has its magic
M. H.
Great Pub if you want a pub with real beer, real people and real character. Plenty of plastic options around if you can't stomach it. Good value and honest food.
J. M.
Great pub close to Waterloo Train Station. Good beer at reasonable prices. And Tayto crisps.
R. K.
Nice selection of beers. Has a well worn look of a pub that has been around for a while. Maybe it has. Was busy and suspect that's the norm.
A. B.
When you find the Hole in the Wall - if you find it, you may be as surprised as I was. I'm sure it's grown larger in the last few decades, but it's still as busy as ever. Usually full of people who, being London commuters, are well used to standing for hours each day. Can't fault it, keep up the good work.
M. G.
So reliable for the football. I've witnessed some brilliant games here, particularly Tottenham's excellent run in the prem and champions league... 😁 Excellent and polite service, good energy all round
S. W.
Great service and beer. Would highly recommend.
C. G.
Had a very good time with the Belgian bar tender. Good basic food, interesting selection of beers. Certainly coming back!

Good selection of beer although the service was slow and the kitchen was shut so no food.
m. h.
It is a great pub but bar staff can’t really take a joke. loosen up abit guys and girls, we will all take the Micky, come on now.
R. L.
Complete dive but cheaper drinks than other London pubs and close to Waterloo so handy for a quick pint before your train.
C. I.
I've been drinking there off and on since the 1980s. It used to be much shabbier but it's still relatively rough around the edges and unspoilt. Good boozer.
S. B. S.
This is getting 5 stars for value for money. Bought a Guinness, a G&T and two Jägers, cause this is how I roll, and paid under £20. What's not to like?
S. F.
One of the few pubs in the area that haven't had an update it what appears to be about 30 years. But that just adds to the charm! Not a place if you like 'gentrified'.
M.
Nice quality pub. Seats available as well as places to stand. Also has good bottled beer like Corona
T. S.
Shhh. This is one of my secret favourite pubs. Great beer selection. Quieter in the frint room.
B. P.
Hole in the wall kinda pub!
V. C.

One of the best pubs in London. Good value and unique. Love how the pub shakes when trains pass over.
S. S.
Name says it all. Friendly staff. Good beer and cider selection. No seat on the men's loo
A. C.
Don't let the name fool you this in no a hole in the wall. Well I guess technically door way is a hole that is filled with a door.
Rather enjoyable place to watch the Football and to re-hydrate prior to heading into the pits of hell to catch you train in the TUBE!
S. C.
Very nice pub. Old fashioned atmosphere but young and helpful staff
K. K.
Excellent place. What a proper pub should be. Best of all for a Kraut like me: German wheat beer on tap.

Real pub amongst all the apron wearing staffed and 'craft beer' nonsense bars in London these days. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Serves beer with a smile.
D. N.
Basic pub with good selection of beers at reasonable prices for the location, better than some of the nearby chains.
