Well what a pub. I chose to come here for the first time as it was listed on Time Out's best roast dinner lists and I fancied a good one. It didn't disappoint. The roast was absolutely gorgeous and probably one of the best I've ever had. The meat was cooked to perfection, potatoes crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The giant Yorkshire was melt in the mouth and the veg and gravy were cooked to perfection and seasoned well. I honestly couldn't fault it at all. Came in at circa £20 which may sound expensive to some but the portion size was huge so it was well worth the spend and good value for what you're getting. I washed my roast down with a delicious signature Bloody Mary which was so full of flavour. I thought the drink could have been slightly larger as it was already in a smallish glass and that was almost full of ice so not much to actually drink for the price. But I still really enjoyed it. The pub itself is nicely laid out and I like the fact they haven't cramped everyone together. It was super clean and the toilet facilities were nice. The staff were a highlight for me. Very attentive, polite and talkative (in a non-forced way). We had one error where we ordered a pint and it never arrived. The staff member must have forgotten to put it through the till. As we'd already finished our dinner we cancelled it and asked for the bill. The staff member was very apologetic, even though we didn't think it was a big deal, and to our surprise they'd knocked 10% off the bill as a sorry. Now that is service! Highly recommended. I know I'll be returning again frequently.

We all had roasts for Sunday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it, Yorkshire pudding is the best I've ever had in restaurants and pubs, nice big portions too,meat was tender, just perfect Sunday lunch.. service was excellent very friendly, will definitely go back again.

Loved this pub. Full range of Camden beers available on tap. Wine list a bit pricey but understandable because they would like their guests to try the beers - it's not a wine bar. I highly recommend the Whisky & Amaretto tipple, garnished with a slice of orange on the rocks. What an excellent way to end the evening!

Went for lunch on a saturday around midday. Staff was so so friendly, they didn't have any tables available so they offered us to eat by the bar. The guy behind the bar was very thoughtfull and attentive :) I had a vegan burger which was REALLY tasty and my partner had a buttermilk chicken burger with extra bacon added, and it was incredibly tasty. Both burgers came with a very decent side of ahnd cooked chips that were also delicious. The place is dog friendly and it can get quite busy around midday. Overall an very pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere and lovely food. Can highly recommend!

Been going there for years and food last night was best ever. Really nice on all fronts, couldn’t have been better. Staff lovely even though busy, manager kindly returned our dog to us after she had wandered off somewhere else, what more could we ask for. Go support your local pub, or make a special visit. Had lunch here today on a Wednesday. Fabulous food and service and really nice ambience; busy but not mad Marvellous hamburger. And my friend had the whole plaice, also excellent Let's not forget the great Camden lager. I'm not a great fan of partially peeled chips (fine for new potatoes), and I do think good old fashioned French fries should be served with steak/hamburger. But maybe that's just me ?? it's not meant as a criticism, just trying to be helpful in feedback. The young man who served us seemed really proud of where he worked. Unfortunately didn't catch his name; very skinny I hope he won't mind my saying. Very good

The horseshoe is one of my favourite bars. The atmosphere is always great and the staff are so lovely, friendly, professional and welcoming. Always clean, food is superb, I couldn’t recommend enough!

Really nice bar that you help but notice on the high street. There's some cool seating outside which is great with the heat rising up. Great staff when you walk in the have good banter and know how to take care of you when you are there. Popped in for few drinks with a friend and we had a fun time. COVID has allowed for the place to be intimate so we took advantage of that and got one of the bigger tables. Really nice place with great cocktails.

Decent place to try a variety of London beers or for a meal at lunch or dinner. There's a couple of veggie options and even a vegan one. Well made, tasty and delivered politely by the waiting staff. It can get busy so it's worth booking over the phone if it's a Friday night. Overall, recommended.

My favourite around Hampstead, this a great pub and I visit regularly! I’ve found the Sunday lunch is the best in the area. Beer range is mainly from Camden but there are usually guests too. Wines I have tried have been been far better quality then usual pub/bar wines. Always had a warm welcome, which can be rare by today’s standards around London.

I found this bar by chance but very glad that I did. The atmosphere was relaxed and chat encouraging. Plenty of space but it was busy so a short wait was needed to get a table. I stayed outside. There are 3 long tables with long benches, decorated with the most beautiful jar with flowers. The staff was very attentive and the food was amazing. I had the specialty of the day, recommend by the staff, and it was great. The apple with cinnamon crumble was served in a very generous quantity, it was, clearly, homemade and was heaven!

Favourite pub in Hampstead! For those who have an affinity for Camden Town Brewery offerings, who wouldn’t aspire to sip pints of their beer at the very pub where they initially commenced brewing. Beyond that, the buttermilk fried chicken burger with chipotle mayo, and chips which are perfectly salted, makes the experience even more transcendent.

Went on a Sunday and the 3 different roast dinners our party tried were all outstanding! The reason I haven't given 5 stars are the lack of children's menu at all, which was odd considering there were numerous families and the pub is advertised as family friendly.Would recommend going here, but if you're with kids, maybe not on a Sunday!

Fantastic beer offering, but the place itself feels a bit like sitting in a large squash court. It's all a bit plain and barren. Still, staff are great and you'll most likely have a nice time. Maybe more of a summer place than a get out from the weather winter vibe.

Called in for brunch late on a Saturday morning. Very busy, but found a table fairly quickly. The brunch menu is limited - felt like it could've done with a couple more options. Had the chilli-and-lime avocado on toast. Was nice enough, but you really don't get much for £9 - one small slice of toast, about half an avocado's-worth of topping, two eggs. That's it. Coffee was pretty decent. One thing which has lost them a 'star' in this review, though, is the adding of a 12.5% service charge to the bill. I didn't notice until I got home last night, if I had I'd have asked for it to be removed. I'm quite happy to leave a bit extra for good service - but the only person who's going to decide that is me. The service here was OK, but not great - coffee took ages to arrive, and turned up well after the food.

A nice brewery pub. I would go here to drink, but I wouldn't eat here again. Service was really poor, we had to ask to be served drinks, had to ask to order our food, had to ask twice for sauces, then had to ask for the bill before they had cleared our plates, we weren't once offered any service, and they added 12.5% service to the bill (without asking, a theme!), we couldn't be bothered to argue. The food was actually good though.

Used to be a great pub but they have handled Covid-19 badly. Shared toilets with locks not working on some of the cubicles is crazy. Under filled pints is also disappointing. I hope this is all temporary.

We've used this bar for a long time. Beer selection is super. Ambience is great. However, the food has gone in the wrong direction. Had a cheese board last night which had a minimal amount of cheese, several oatcake biscuits, and some jam (???). And it cost 12 quid. A complete rip-off. Interesting modern pub in historic Hampstead. Home of the famous Camden brewery My steak was over-cooked by two degrees. I ordered it rare but it came medium-wel done. In summary, four stars for the beer, two stars for the food. Why is it that London pubs seem incapable, or unwilling, to cook a decent steak? 🤬😡

Dear all, I was compelled to sign up today to encourage others to try my favourite place to take the family for a roast dinner. It’s something we try to do most weeks and we have finally settled on our favourite, hence the post! As you may or may not know you’re spoilt for choice on pubs to eat and drink in Hampstead but over the past 18 months The Horseshoe outstrips them all on quality, service and value. Our visits are regularly welcomed by the positive and friendly staff especially Valentina who regularly recommends many of the different beers available for me to try and enjoy. It’s nice to ask a question on this category and have an educated answer... I’m certain you won’t be disappointed after checking out this pub, it’s by far the best all-rounder in my opinion. Enjoy!

First time visiting the Horseshoe in Hampstead. We ordered the cheeseboard along with drinks. Both the food& drink were on point. Staff were polite& helpful. Atmosphere was loud to the point where you can't hear yourself think. Great location within the town centre. The main menu wasn't that great so we left for another venue.

The venue and location are nice, good beer selection and some effort put on the menu (although somewhat overcomplicated dishes). But the place is extremely noisy (tall empty ceilings don't help). Also I am generally put off by venues that let pets in and was somewhat concerned by several members of staff petting the two pugs from the table next to me. Wonder if they washed hands afterwards..

The kitchen here look like they're a hard-working mob and that they do give a hoot about the food they send out. I've eaten here maybe half a dozen times and have always enjoyed the nosh. The waiting staff have been efficient and pleasant. Why do so many places get these simple things wrong? However, sometimes I have also found myself thinking "I just spent HOW MUCH on a pub meal?"

Camden Town Brewery pub that is a 3minute walk from hampstead station. There is a large selection of Camden's beer on draft, and numerous brands in bottles. Has limited outside seating to the side which due to its location is a benefit. Staff were extremely friendly and able to assist. Did not have occasion to try the food, but worth stopping in if you find yourself in Hampstead.

Cosy pub but gets busy and loud on weekend and while waitress was absolutely lovely and apologetic, the kitchen kept forgetting to send stuff. I got my main before my drink and my dessert before the coffee, which was quite frustrating. So something in process is faulty there and it was a bit annoying to say the least Food was good though.

So we booked here for Sunday lunch even though there was no menu on the website. 2 out of 5 of us were Pescaterian but unfortunately there was nothing really ‘Sunday-lunch-ish ’. Instead we asked if they could switch the beef out for the cod. So we could have the veggies, and Yorkshire puddings etc... No can do!!! Apparently they only had a limited amount of fish. I hope they have a limited amount of everything vs an infinite supply... So, we asked if they could do a side of veggies and Yorkshire puddings. No can do!!! In the end to get a Sunday lunch with something suitable for a pesci we had to order 2 main courses and throw away the beef. Not a single eyebrow was raised by the server. Also, I had to ask twice for them to take a drinks order. We only had 2 drinks each. Not sure they realise asking people if they want drinks will stimulate them to order. This place doesn’t really understand the customer. Shame as it is quite a nice place.

"Craft" beer really isn't my thing, and the interior of this pub was really a bit too modern for my tastes, but those things aside this was actually quite a pleasant spot for a Saturday afternoon drink with friends - it was child friendly, and I quite enjoyed the Camden Hells lager served in Steins - reminiscent of Japanese beer.
