Reviews of The Hour Glass
J. B.
The Hour Glass is much more than your average pub, with an amazing new chef at the helm of the kitchen, the scents of food get your mouth watering as you walk upstairs to the dining area. My friend and I wanted to try some modern British food with a great beer selection , so The Hour Glass seemed like the perfect place for us. The menu is the perfect length with frequent changes based on the season and what the chef finds at the local market.
The service was friendly, the waiter let us knew her recommendations, describing the ingredients and cooking style. The pork scratchings with mustard was the perfect snack to go with our beers. We then shared a plate of grilled duck gizzard with spring onion and salsa verde that was a flavourful sensation. Then came the grilled lamb tongue with beetroot, dill and yogurt - an absolutely exquisite combination. The green beans with roast shallots and rocket was a wonderful way to highlight the fresh produce.
Then we moved on to our mains. My braised rabbit with white beans, bacon and cavolo nero was unlike any rabbit dish I have had before, I wanted to order it again. My friend ordered the Guinea fowl with rainbow chard an roast carrots and he said it was an absolute pleasure.
Can't end a meal without dessert and there is a great selection to choose from at The Hour Glass. The chocolate hazelnut brownie with salted toffee was a sweet taste unlike any other. The dessert that really excited my taste buds however was brioche bread pudding with blackberries and whipped cream. Every dish we had was amazing, a much need addition to the restaurant scene in Chelsea - can't wait to go back!

I was here for Sunday lunch on a quiet afternoon, so your experience may vary, but...
Wonderful roast belly pork. Perfectly cooked, and delicious vegetables and very nicely presented. It was really good value too (£14, I think). Washed down with a pint of Bitter and Twisted. That was overpriced, but I'm not based in London so I think that of most beers.

Cozy little pub, could use a new selection of beers, but the food it's well worth it.
They have an open kitchen, and it makes the dinning experience really nice, you can see the chef preparing you're delicious food. Please try the croquetes and the brownies, they are delicious!!!

Nice little pub to stop by on an afternoon walk around the lovely streets of South Ken. Sunny benches, friendly staff and refreshing drinks. Aaaaand the occasional big fancy sport car speeding by loudly to the awe of a local hen party.

Probably the best pub food in London for me. Bit pricey for food but the quality food fro the proper kitchen. Ale selections are bit limited but fantastic in overall. Highly recomened.

Brilliant little place. Went in with some visiting Spanish friends and the staff were AMAZING! Went straight into Spanish, made us all feel very welcome. Allowed sample tasting of the wines and lagers to ensure (which any brewery or good pub should allow) to ensure that we would enjoy our drinks. Great atmosphere and ambience, fantastic staff, loved our visit! 👍👍

Great pub for a drink and food after visiting the V&A

Nice pub. A little long and thin, so can get cramped when busy, but it's a nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly and the booze was priced as you'd expect for the area. Dog friendly too.

A couple of nice ales were on tap when I visited, and there's a nice enough atmosphere (somewhere towards "old man" territory but not quite there). Pleasant staff, as well. It was exceedingly crowded, but that is to be expected at the time we were there (early evening on a weeknight). An ordinary, decent pub overall (which may be just the ticket, considering the surrounding area!).

Very nice place. The menu is original enough to make us curious but not discouraged so we decided to enter. Many vegetarian dishes, good beer and cider. Kind and quick personnel. To come back!

Gorgeous little pub near the V&A. It is beautifully turned out, a mix of old and new which works charmingly. We didn't try the food, unfortunately, but there was a excellent selection of beers on tap, lots of interesting works and wines too. I would definitely return the next time I find myself in Museum Row.

This venue has just had a new refit, change of ownership and new menu! I've eaten in the restaurant upstairs twice since reopening and must say the food is spectacular; delicious, well presented and subtly balanced. The service was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend to friends and family and I'm delighted there's a comfortable and beautifully designed pub/restaurant in the area again. I'm a big fan!!

Friendly staff, nice beer selection , very cosy

A cosy, small pub with average range of drinks. Food nibbles are good. Seating and standing area can be difficult to find inside, not recommended for larger groups at busier times.

Quite good, in an area without many decent pubs. Rather small and cramped inside. Nice atmosphere, warm, pleasant. Not much ale on handpumps - they did have Pride which seemed good, and Brewdog in bottles. Prices were fair (for the area) which is to say about £4 a pint. Gents toilet very tatty.

While not exactly "ripping with character", we found the staff very friendly, attentive, and - best of all - the food was excellent. We had the Scotch eggs (fresh, hot, medium cooked egg center and nicely vinegary piccalilli), the Heritage Tomato salad (four tomato varieties, light and delicious) and the fish and chips (very crispy haddock with well above average crispy, skin on, chips and mushy peas). While the price was a bit high (£35 with two drinks), it does reflect the neighborhood. Recommended.

Mehh standard pub made to look fancy with a pretty minimalistic style. Decent selection of beer but Chelsea prices. The vibe is nice when its a sunny day and you are sitting outside of the benches. Unfortunately the interior and layout leaves something to be desired but the staff are friendly and fun to talk to.

Nice little pup with some decent food and a good selection of premium beers
C. L.
Lovely pub and really good service.
R. W.
Nice local pub, great boys serving, clean. However it does have a very clicky feel too it. I only had a pint, however the food menu looked great.

Nice pub, although it's a little small, so can get very crowded on a Friday evening (but, then again, what bar in this part of London isn't?). Lovely, friendly staff and a good selection of drinks.
S. M.
Ive been in this pub on and off for the last 6 years or and have consistently received a warm welcome and excelent service. Its a perfect haven from the chaos of the local tourist spots and brompton road dispute being so close to everything knightsbridge and Chelsea have to offer. Highly recomended.
D. B.
Nice pub with very quaint atmosphere on Brompton Road: we absolutely loved eating by the fireplace. Too bad the beer choice is average, and the food is just as normal. Reasonably polite girl at the counter.
J. K.
An unusually wedge shaped narrow bar , high ceiling and bright surroundings make this a pleasant pub to visit . With a tiled exterior that is now rare to find . With both real and craft ale available, it’s worth a visit if passing ..
J. A.
Good burger. Loved the fish and chips. I was really pleased that they used haddock and not cod. Smallish place, good atmosphere, and good beer.

Small local pub in walking distance to the South Kensington tube station. We often get a couple of drinks here after going to the RAH to let the crowds die down a bit after a show.
Has a good selection or beers and some nice wines and the food looks excelent although I've only had the snacky things. Cheap for Kensington/Knightsbridge but still London prices circa £5 a drink.
J. P.
A lovely little place with some good food, cozy atmosphere, friendly service and good pints. Away from the crowded underground station area. This is a nice little gem tourists should find!
P. O.
Wonderful pub in South Ken. Great staff, food, beer & ambience. Upstairs perfect for meetings.

Lovely, if tiny, pub in the heart of south ken. Well appointed and friendly staff. Great for a quiet night out.

I live around the corner and thank god for the hourglass. The guys have done a great job with it since taking over and it remains a local + vibrant landmark with a great vibe and food - love the upstairs dining room!
J. Y.
Nice friendly little pub with good beer and decent food, far better than most of the pubs nearer to S. Kensington, but there are a few more good pubs between here and Sloane Square
J. H.
Me and my friends often come here in the Friday nights. The pub is fantastic in every aspect - nice atmosphere, friendly staff and affordable prices. Great location and view.
J. L.

Love this little gem! A small local that can get quite busy in the evenings. Well worth a visit.
R. T.
Pretty a good place to rest. I ate an excellent cottage pie there for a reasonable price in December 2013. Definetly suggested if you are nearby.
K. B.

F. V.
Nice pub, not great selection of beers, but they have London pride and Guinness and a few other industrial beers.

It is well staffed and has excellent beer .

Nice little pub but the usual London cram, it's a shame the bar area isn't bigger.
