Reviews of The Jack Horner, Holborn

Beautiful pub...very clean... well served by friendly smiling staff...enjoyed it specially the out door...sunny and full of excitement with passing by 🍻🍺
B. M.
Beautiful pub with nice vibes. Delicious food (we tried the Club Sandwich & Steak & Fuller's London Pride Pie). Kind staff.
М. Ф.
A great place to eat! We tried a special offer with three pies and three ales and a nice dessert. The staff is polite and friendly, the interior is authentic and cosy. Thanks!
J. L.
So lucky to find this great pub. Staff were so friendly. We had the tasting board consisting of selection of pies, sides and ales, the salmon and a burger. Highly recommended!! The head chef came out and introduced himself, what an amazing chap. Definitely would return.
J. M.
We had a booking for 6pm.
Nice looking place with outside seating.
The food and drinks selection is good.
Toilets are clean (thumbs up for complimentary girly stuff).
Staff is very nice, polite, friendly and helpful (we asked for extra napkins, sauces, group pictures and all was done with a smile).
We visited Wednesday 16.02.
I highly recommend this place.

We had a long overdue work Christmas lunch (in May) and experienced the new menu. It was exceptional! Every dish (12) was fresh and cooked to perfection. I had Lemon Sole which was beautifully cooked and seasoned - a surprise for 'pub grub' but it really is way above your standard and even good pub grub. Well done guys!

Went in for a nice beer. Got some excellent service and a nice table. They have many different kinds of beer here and it was nice to try out something new.
Pros:
- Excellent service [5/5]
- Great looking place, love the typical pub vibe [5/5]
Cons:
- None to speak of.
Overall: [5/5]
J. M.
Older looking pub with lovely wooden paneling and toilets. Good range of reasonably priced drinks, food was a bit over priced and the sandwiches were a bit dry. The chips were lovely and it was very close to Dominion theatre. The benches outside were rickety but had great views of a bustling street.
L. D.
Perfect match of reasonable price, tasty food/drinks and pleasant music. Just reopened!
S. I.
Really delicious food and a very clean interior. A bit expensive on the meals, but still a good bite.
N. M.
Friendly pub right on Tottenham Court Road with a good atmosphere. Went for a post dinner drink on the way back to the hotel, found a table and enjoyed a special cocktail made for the Queens Jubilee. Staff v helpful too.
D. M. G.
Awesome pub, nice seating outside!!
R. B.
absolutely amazing staff. New owner even made me her own version of a mojito. food was Great. the squid was amazing. definitely be returning soon.
D. T.
A delightful oasis of calm on a busy Tottenham Court road. A great selection of beers, both cask and keg. Lovely staff behind the bar, defiant and polite. A great place to call in when the retail experience proves too much.
S. O.
Good Guinness. Better than any other pubs in the area. Shame prices everywhere have hit £6 a pint but at least you get a decent pint
D. B.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating to any allergies. This is the only place we could get dairy free fish and chips.
D. C.
Great place for a post workout pint, great selection of ales and food was tasty! Nice crowd, would recommend
A. B.
The Cleanest, fresh and well attended pub!
Left my cap that was easily recovered by friendly staff next day.
D. S.
Nice pub, very clean and comfortable.
Friendly and helpful staff.
G. P.
Nice pub. Tasty, good value food (fried chicken with waffles very good) and good range of Fuller beers (Frontier Lager is delicious). Friendly staff.
L. M.
We had to wait 3-40 mins until we finally got our food, and the meat was cold. My friends Yorkshire pudding was burnt. Don’t waste your money here. The beer was good however
P. H.
Great pub, with knowledgeable and friendly staff serving excellent beer. Shame that we only had time for one visit this trip. On the cards for the next visit. 🍺🍺👍👍
D. A.
Nice pub with a good selection of drinks. Fast service and friendly staff.
Didn't eat but th food did look nice so was would have been tempted I'd hadn't already eaten.
Good amount of seats and space and the atmosphere was chilled and relaxed. Would return.
e. 1.
Really great for a pre theatre meal. Fab pies and sangria!
I. J.
Great Vibe, delicious Pies and fish & chips and a great place to celebrate St. Patrick's day watching the rugby, while snowing outside! could have stayed for hours...
M. S.
Not a fullers fan, it's a southern softie's version of ale which is lost on those of us used to real ale.
I did enjoy the jack frost however and the staff and facilities were faultless.
Nice work team!
A. C.
Good Pub food and beer okay. Staff polite but not over welcoming.
H. Q.
When I was a student at UCL a couple years ago I liked their duck and rabbit pie. They no longer have it. But their burger is delicious as well! They put this soft crab burger under the section traditional Brit but the guacamole and mango mayonnaise really contributed to the richness of the taste.
L. K.
Great lunch! Friendly staff, food was delivered fast, decent price
J. B. L.
This is one of the best pubs in this area of London. Owned by Fuller's, which gives you a wide range of ales to choose from, as well as other beer, wine, cider and non-alcoholic alternatives. Food is available from a well thought out menu, and you can also get the usual pub snacks.
G. K.
Great pub, could do more with the selection of beers and lagers but if you're looking for a classic British pub, you can't go wrong here.
J. R.
Had a nice dinner on a slow night. Fantastic service and a decent menu.
P. K.
Great establishment, gorgeous food, polite and prompt staff! Well worth a visit!
S. G.
Authentic british pub. We visited friday morning. It was a little bit empty. Had a good british breakfast and eggs benedict.
R. S.
Tasty beer!
It was just beside my office in London, so frequented this place a couple of times. Unlike in India where music is indispensable part of a brewery, this pub didn't play any - was kinda cultural shock for me >_< This is really popular and was always crowded whenever I came in for a sip. Tried quite a few beers.. all were great
c. v.
Nice corner pub with large selections of beers on tap.
Food menu was small but its enough to enjoy few bits. The mini pies options was great & delicious.
The chicken wings was also yummy.
Nice staff.
E. L.
Nice atmosphere a good selektion of beer and Nice bar food and frindly service
M. P.
Decent pub overall but nearly £7 for a pint of beer anywhere in the world is absolutely ridiculous.
A. P.
Pie was OK but was overall a nice pub. I would go there again.
D. H.
Great old school London pub. Good selection of drinks & a nice atmosphere.
J. J.
Awesome pie & pint here great atmosphere
G. M.
Nice old London boozer. No WiFi guests only
A. Z.
Good fish and chips. Service was cold. Typical for a lot of London.
Edit post owners response - Didn't mean to insinuate the servers were mean or anything. I was comparing it to the US where servers are very attentive as it is customary to tip them, unlike in the UK where it varies by establishment.
D. L.
Friendly staff; some booth seating - great for groups.

Stopped over after going to the Museum.
Nice environment, friendly helpful staff, nice range of drinks and food with great value.
D. H.
Great old school London pub. Good selection of drinks & a nice atmosphere.
H. H.
The best BEST roast dinner I’ve had in a pub for years ! Delicious 5/5
R. L.
Beautiful pub, you just have to try their local beer and pie! It was a amazing
J. J.
Awesome pie & pint here great atmosphere
C. D.
The staff were really pleasant. They were patient whilst I tried to decide which beer to drink. The food was nice, albeit very overpriced. Overall for a Tuesday night I enjoyed myself. We kept our table all evening and the staff came to collect our empty dishes after our meal.
b.
Decent pub not quite as expensive as some was better in afternoon IMHO
p.
Traditional English pub with wide selection of beers and seats outside, great for a drink.
G. B.
lovely meal,fab staff good atmosphere.
C. C.
Such a great service from Abhi, wondeful suggestion for rum and beer, delighted to been driven to spirits from an expert. Wish i could meet this place before. Magda has been super helpful and so pleasant with everything around the pub. Definitely come back as it is onr of the best place i ever been!
A. K.
Great pub to tuck into for an afternoon with a few pints and a good book. Picnic tables outside are perfect on a sunny afternoon.
T. B.
Quite pricey but they do have a good range of beers compared to other pubs in the vicinity, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. A nice little boozer.
D. L.
Friendly staff; some booth seating - great for groups.
R. G.
Located on the crossroads between a busy high street, and a lazy access road, it can act as a sun trap through the summer. They've recently added the ability to order from your table via web app. It's been a while since I've sampled their food menu, but drinks choice is slightly above what standard fair in London.
A. D.
Spot on for grub n a tasty pint. 5 minutes from Tottenham Court Station.
B. S. (.
Great bar with good offer.
Awesome funny catering expressions.
P.
Interesting atmosphere from an American perspective. Great food compared to not so freshly made pies and mash. I think a bit over priced.
S. D.
Bloody good ale and bloody good pie
S. K.
Great place to drink Nd catch up with friends
R. C.
Nice, friendly pub. Good choice of beers.
G. M.
Nice old London boozer. No WiFi guests only
J.
I love this place, great pub fare! They also do mini meals, great for if you want to leave room for a desert!
D. P.
Decent beer selection, and a good vibe
C. H.
Only stopped for a drink and a coffee before seeing our show
S.
Nice an cozy, well situated pub. Good selection of beers and spirits, staff is friendly and very helpful.
P. G.
Wonderful corner pub. Fantastic beer selections from the area. It can get quite busy ,so patience may be needed. You can eat at the bar. Fairly broad menu. Was in on a Sunday and had the roast beef special. Arrived quickly and well appointed. Many different sides and items were prepared well. Decent meal overall. Bar staff were quick and friendly. Good place to sit and relax and have a pint before heading back out.
J. C.
Only 4 stars 'cos I don't give 5.
Wonderful place: great food, super beer - and excellent service from Andy.
Best steak and ale pie I've had in many a year.
The 'pie and beer' tasting board my wife had was a sight to behold.
Highly recommended.
L. C.
Nice pub and friendly staff
N. W.
Used to be a big fan, but has become more food-centric with 80% of the seats set up as a hosted, bookable restaurant. Also, never seem to have ESB.
T. B.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious meal
M. Y.
Sat outside lovely weather staff very pleasant
N. H.
Visited with my study abroad group from the United States. Wonderful meal selection and the cider was delicious! I wish I knew what brand they selected! Staff is wonderful and hospitable and kind. Would recommend to tourists and locals alike. Macaroni and cheese was tasty.
M. N.
Pies in this pub are amazing! The food is very very good all round. General atmosphere in the pub is great.
The staff struggled a bit on a very busy night and seemed to neglect one area of the bar where around 5/6 people were waiting to be served for roughly 10 minutes with not one of them being served, or a member of staff acknowledging they were waiting. But other than that, a very good pub with good food and I'll go again!
C. J.
Great staff and beer choice!
Thanks to Salma for being so lovely on the bar today :)
J. K.
Really beautiful place to eat at and enjoy a pie. I went here twice while visiting and staying at a nearby hotel. Drinks are excellent and the cider flows willingly. Eat the curry chicken pie, you’re welcome. Waiters are attentive and don’t mind me hogging a booth with my fellow travelers for a bit of time. Nice overall.
M. L.
Very friendly staff, not to dear consider the location
S. O.
Had a fantastic time staff and locals were lovely and welcoming 🙏😊the cold scoops 🍺🍺and wine were fantastic 😀👌10/10
R. S.
I've been coming to this pub for over 20 years now as it's a convenient central location to meet up with my friends in London. It's a busy place (especially on a Thursday and Friday evenings) but the beer is always good and it has a great atmosphere and no intrusive music or televisions.
B. M.
Had a great evening! Magda and Abhi were wonderful! Great recommendation, incredible vibes and I'll definitely come back!
A. B. T.
Verry nice establishment with great service and kind employees
S. J.
Amazing staff, excellent food, excellent beer Nd a wonderful atmosphere
M. W.
You can always rely on a Fuller's pub for a decent pinta Pride.
H. M.
I have been to this pub a few times and genuinely adored it. It is essentially a comedy quaint pub in London which, I for one, LOVE. However, as Jeremy stated before some members of staff are very hostile when it comes to the no mobile phone rule. I completely get the rule and respect it, it's nice to be somewhere where everybody can have a nice, open conversation where nobody is glued to their screens. But there should be some exceptions, especially when it comes to the safety of their customers.
The pub was nearing closing and I, and two other girls, were ordering a cab to get home. A staff member came over to us and very abruptly told us to put our phones away. We explained that we were just leaving and didn't want to stand outside by ourselves as we did not know how long the cab would be. One of my friends had a stalker (the police were involved etc.) so this was the main reason why. The member of staff continued to tell us that there were no excuses and we had to leave. So we did.
It is such a shame as me and my friends really enjoyed coming to this pub but I prioritise the wellbeing of my friends and now it is time to say goodbye. 👋
N. b.
Really nice traditional pub.
Good food. Pies are excellent
C. P.
Great pie and nice staff. A Pub you should check out
W. E.
Lovely pub lovely stuff. Live near by so always good for a nice cold beverage.
R.
Great location on Tottenham Court Road. Staff were fast to serve and there were enough of them on even though it was busy.
Good atmosphere and not too noisy. We were allowed to sit and some reserved seats and they didn’t ask us to move until 5 mins before they needed the table which is pretty rare.
Good place to meet up before going somewhere else.
K. A.
It's a Fullers pub with a traditional tap line. We found the food to be of good quality and we especially liked their pies. The staff at Jack Horner is friendly and service minded. The clientele seems to be mostly tourists (like me), but there are some friendly local students from UCL here as well. The Jack Horner gets a four star rating from me and I can't wait to go back.
D. M.
Staying a block away, this Californian was looking for some traditional British food. Klevi took care of me with all the right suggestions. Meat pie was outstanding. The beer suggestions were on point. Great vibe. Strongly recommend...
s. w.
Nice pub lovely food
Z. D.
A very traditional British pub, from the quintessential wooden interiors, to the pub grub and openly indifferent staff. It's by no means the nicest place to go in town for a drink or a bite, but it has a really nice atmosphere and is a true pub in every sense. It's pretty standard London prices, about £20 for a round of three drinks.
D. T.
Great place for a pint and a pie!
A. L.
Lovely very well located pub. Staff is friendly and the food was delicious
S. W.
It was a good pub 20 years ago and still good now! Nice selection of beers, didn't try the food but it looked like standard fare from a Fuller's pub, so it would be absolutely fine as a minimum.
D. C.
Popped in for a quick lunch with my sister and no problems, but when the bill arrived we were a bit shocked at eighty pounds! We had two glasses wine each at ten pounds a glass. We should have got a bottle but didn't know the price of the wine! Afraid we might not rush back.
J. G.
What a lovely pub. We called in for lunch before a theatre trip and had the beef and ale pie - delicious. Quick service, good prices and a really cosy atmosphere. Try it!
R. A.
Was hesitant to go after the lukewarm reviews I had seen about the food, but popped in nonetheless. The pies were the best I had in London, and the service was pretty good too. Limited beer selection (mostly Fuller's), but a nice little pub.
M. W.
I was looking for a pub that wax open early on a Sunday so this one did the job. The interior is nice and the quality of the beers is good. The staff did, however, seem as if they had just started in the job. And 4.45 for a pint of ale is just a rip off.
L. G.
One of the best pubs in central London with decent prices, never too busy and a lovely traditional feel. Good food and good selection of ales. Lots of space to sit down.
R. K.
Good beer and wine, lovely staff and food served quickly
w.
nice enough place, i just had the one drink on a quiet evening but i'd go again
M. M.
Although busy I was served quickly and the beer selection was excellent. This will be my pub of choice before going into the RADA studios in the future.
Been in here since with friends after going to the cinema across the road and as a last stop for a drink at the end of a date, and its been great each time.
L. L.
Large pub that was quite crowded, however, we were served quite quickly even though it was busy and I was given a house red that was really smooth with just a few tannins
M. M.
Friendly. Served great nachos. Indeed a place to stop and recharge your batteries.
S. K.
Didnt intend to stop here but it looked very nice from outside and Inside original victorian tiles and decor make it a nice place to relax. However, bar staff not friendly and not easy to underatand as English obviously not 1st Language. Nice selectiom of beer. When food came it was just dropped infront of me with the word "pie" portion was small and pie was very hard crusted. However, once i got into it taste was good.. best thing about this pub, looks and beer.
ע. ד.
Great beer+ service:)
D. W.
Pie sampler is delicious but not the best value at £20 with no sides. The beer selection is good and the staff are helpful and friendly.
F. P.
Great fun at this traditional English pub, Michael was extreamly friendly and welcoming, while Catalina made sure we where satisfied with our experiance. Would definetly recommend to anyone looking for a refreshing break at the heart of london. 5 stars for sure!
I. O.
great pub with an atmosphere and super nice staff! definitely will be back!
O. C.
Food delicious, drinks came very quickly. Lovely pub
E. G. E.
On a freezing cold day in snow laden London, the five of us enjoyed an absolutely lovely Sunday Christmas lunch. The atmosphere in The Jack Horner was welcoming and cosy and the food good pub fare with my Corn Fed Chicken Supreme being particularly excellent. We shall all be visiting again in the near future. Our special thanks go to Luigi for his patience and friendly professionalism.
d. b.
I had thought this place to be a Fud you know a non pub where all about the same old avo and something for 85 quid. I left a short review. What the reply was there was a reply so no longer a fub at least one person care thought to get back to a one line review. Good member of staff there a keeper. Whole heartedly go you will love it!
H. J.
Bog standard pub on Tottenham Court Road in Central London. Food is bog standard (but not bad!) and on a weekday lunch it was quiet (but not too quiet) and had plenty of tables.
I. M.
Great food. Beer a little pricey
D. N.
Lovely vibe, old school and welcoming without being overly busy or crowded (an achievement when on Tottenham court road!) The combo of small plates was a great variation on traditional tapas
C. T.
This place was great. Good food, solid beer selection. Centre of London prices but that's too be expected in the centre of London..!
E. H.
I originally rated this 2 stars by mistake (apologies!), main reason being the pint of lager tasted off. They did change this for me however, although it wasn't much of an improvement. I imagine this was a one-off and it is a conveniently located pub thus 3 stars.
R. T.
Always a good pub for a quick one
R. M.
Staff great every time. Frontier Fullers beer is fab . Best place to people -watch while you relax after a day exploring
M. B.
Delicious pie and friendly staff.
D.
Great food and atmosphere
T. M.
Lovely pub,good food and beer
E. N.
Nice pub with a decent choice on tap. Haven't tried the food but they had made a good effort with their halloween decorations and the staff were all in costume.
A. M.
Nice pub, great beers, good friendly staff
I. M. C.
Ist really nice. You can eat or only stay at the bar and have some drinks with your friends. The bartenders are really cool..
C. H.
Good Fuller's beer selection. Pie of the day was nice, but chips a bit pale and undercooked. Side salad tasty. Good experience overall.
A. L.
Good pub a short walk from Tottenham Court Road tube station. Generally not too busy and I've often been able to get a table. Fairly mixed crowd.
s. f.
A mixed bag of a place. It can be brilliant if you get a big table for you and friends to sit and enjoy a beer or 5 at. It’s better in the summer however when you can spill out on to the street.
R. D.
Classic pie and ale fullers pub in the west end of London near the universities, Oxford Street and the British Museum. Decoration is clasical and well kept, most fullers beers on tap, plus some guest ales and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale ( Fuller's is the distributor for Sierra Nevada in the Uk)
t. C.
Went here for lunch with a friend because she said it's a great pub she wasn't wrong our food was great fast service friendly staff and for the west end prices are compatible so for me it's a MUST VISIT!!!
s. g.
My local Fullers pub where I work, Great pub with good selection of beers and great service.
J. P.
Adrian you legend! We had an awesome time, great table and food was amazing - proper homemade pies, burgers and we had the crumble. Also the staff are super friendy!! Thanks guys x
O. F.
Pies are still going strong. The burger left a lot to be desired. Beer selection is alright. Good traditional interior.
N. O.
Cute pub! Went for a quick drink and ended up staying for four hours. Very cozy and old fashioned. Got super busy around midnight, obviously.:)
J. “. B.
Lovely pub. Great atmosphere and very relaxing and intriguing location. Love a good drink here!! :))
S. Ż.
Visited this place on a Sunday around 7pm, and most of the food on the menu was not available. It seems the peak of this place is during the afternoon. Service offered from the staff was great.
A. C. C.
Good beer in a great location.
L. S.
It is a nice place for dinner, quite loud but good for a delisious English dinner. Desserts are good and they can vary their menus a little for your liking
T. L.
Great meal and James, our waiter made the best mojito. The special of the day was delicious and plentiful. Great ambiance. Memorable
V. T.
Awesome staff, love the kitchen. Lots of beers on tap... Nice cocktails too ❤ thank you for "few" nights out 😜
T. H.
Nice enough place with good Fuller's beer and friendly staff, except staff blast the music like they think it's some discotheque making conversation with people more than 1/2 meter away impossible.
N. Z.
Fantastic pub - Great atmosphere, has its own style, a good selection of beers and other drinks, food is available and very good but somewhat pricy.
G. S.
The pie I had (the one with the duck meat) was really good. The other friends were really satisfied as well, we had different pies and appetizers to share.
C. M.
Great pub. Surprisingly not very crowded on a Friday night even though it's in the heart of Soho. Quick service, good beer.
S.
We had our company end of year drinks at the Jack Horner which is our local pub. Unfortunately they were not very accommodating and were unable to provide us with brown bread for the sandwiches we ordered and we instead had to settle for white bread. Very disappointing.
T. P.
Great location and quick service. You can watch sports while enjoying a pint in a proper English pub with an authentic feel.
C. H.
Great fish & chips. A little pricey.
G. R.
Pies are very good 5star
M. B.
The food and service is top notch. People are very friendly. Just a great place to eat and have fun.
A. M.
Great location and easy access to the station and nearby restaurants. It has a good atmosphere and a great place to meet up and have a few drinks.
M. J.
Had a Sunday roast, food was really nice and ample of it ... also reasonably priced for central London pub just off Shaftsbury Avenue
C. C.
Good classic London pub, serving up English dishes... Great atmosphere and reasonable prices. Menu was a tad limited though.
R. W.
Pies and ale both well sorted.
P. A.
A wonderful and genuine british pub that sits on a corner not far from Imperial College. Great selection of beer and ales with decent snacks and food to boot.
K. M.
We had a really delicious lunch here along with the best local ales on tap. Delight to find this place on our visit and will return again
N. N. O.
Fuller's Pub so is the English Ale brewed in London. Love drinking ESB and food is good too.
J. T.
Excellent service. Clean and inviting pub.
B. M.
Food! Quality ingredients, unpretentious preparations, turn standard sounding fare into surprisingly satisfying experience. Lovely service as well.
T.
Best post COVID pub 👌
Staff is amazing and the place is really cozy.
J. V.
Verry good food, love the pie.
J. H.
Great pub
F. F.
Absolutely loved this place. Lots of good beer and drinks and simply a pearl in this big city.
2. C. D.
Lovely staff . Welcoming atmosphere. Good choice of drinks. And you can even charge your devices
H. V.
Nice pub.
S. F.
Great atmosphere in this pub! Didn't have any but the food looked delicious.
P. W.
Great food and helpful staff. Covid rules in place
E. N.
Visited with my girlfriend during our London holiday. Very nice staff, alcohol was as good as you'd expect :-)
M. P.
Nice pub with good food
G. D.
Great food, had the pie tasting board which was fantastic, reasonabley priced for central London, great atmosphere in a lovely pub.
M. L.
Lovely pub. No banging music, nice staff and a really tasty glass of merlot!
J. I.
We had high expectations for the fish and chips based on other Fuller's pubs, like Parcel Yard. It was just OK, nothing more. Fish oily and chips soggy.
S. B. M.
The food was okay, but the service a bit strange. It was very difficult to get the actual drink we wanted without bring presented alternatives. Even when we had very specific requests.
H. S.
Nice old pub, with good choice of ales
P. P. H.
the staff and manager are friendly and make u feel really welcome, well kept ales and great selection, if hungry the food is top class
G. T.
Nice pub good beer very nice staff gets busy for food so plan ahead if you want foid
E. G.
Nice atmosphere. If getting food I don't recommend the chips.. very bland, almost like oven chips.

Nice pub with good atmosphere. The beer selection may not suit everyone but they have Leffe which is a big plus for me.

Went there to have a lunch, sat outside, a bot noisy on Tottenham Court Rd, of course, but food was good. It's a nice place to have a drink or a lunch after the British Museum visit.

Good venue, evening turned a bit when a student just missed throwing up over the person I was meeting. I'd give it another go though
R. C.
Bar stools in the way of the bar, must be difficult to get a drink when the stools are occupied. Dark Star Hophead superb..🍺
E. A. H.
Decent selection of beers and a pretty good Sunday roast. Nothing particularly special but it's a decent bet in an otherwise dead part of town.
H. P.

Had a pie which was very nice although a little on the pricey side. I also didn't appreciate the mandatory service charge that was added, this should be optional.
