Reviews of The Knights Templar
g. d.
Very close to temple church , great interior templar relics everywhere very friendly staff and customers. Excellent prices 👏 will definitely visit 👍 again next time in London
D. R.
Perfect start to the day with a delicious breakfast along with exemplary service. Hat's off to the gentleman behind the bar who was pleasant and courteous, and also to the gentleman Manager who, from observation getting involved in tasks, clearly is a Leader. In my opinion, one of the most interesting and best Wetherspoons in the country.
A. W.
One of the most beautiful Wetherspoons’. Usual menu and drinks. It’s very very crowded because of location so it’s better to come early
L. G.
Good old Werthies! Another example of breathing new life in to a beautiful historical building. Even the Ladies loos are special. The usual selection if great drinks and food at very affordable prices!
R. S.
We held our wedding ceremony and reception here. The service from Jan and all the staff over a planning period of almost 2 years was first class. Date change due to covid was handled like a pro. Our guests were in awe of how wonderful the place looked and such amazing feedback on the service, food, decor and attention to detail. The best day of my life spent in this beautiful old building full of character. Can recommend 100% with no doubts.
C. T.
5 starts for sure. It was for a special celebration for a friend. A masquerade ball. The venue was absolutely spot on. A great selection of drinks on offer. A fantastic DJ, dance area was setup, enough seating for the less active. Thoroughly recommend this place for a party or celebration. My first party since lockdown has officially ended; for which this was a memorable event for a memorable party. Great night in a great place 😁😁😁
D. M.
Friendly and helpful staff. Food was the usual wetherspoons acceptable standard and served quickly. Disappointed in the real ale selection with only one guest ale, and that was a repeat of previous wetherspoons served stuff. Nice surroundings.
C. J. G.
Big pub with large selection of Beers, ales and spirts. Decent food with lots seating space. The Knights Templar is the place to start, built into the shell of the Union Bank. It's an extravagant affair, with an outrageously high ceiling supported on golden-topped columns, and a knight in shining armour looming out from the walls.
We're far enough from the financial City that the suits here are more likely to be from the legal professions than the banks. Indeed the pub name references the medieval order who set up the nearby Inner and Middle Temples — centuries-old training grounds for the bewigged of court. Those who are called to the bar also go voluntarily, it seems. Sober as a judge, the big screens here pump out news channels rather than sports. Situated between chancery lane and temple station. Very close to the royal courts of justice.
T. C.
Fab food, service n organisation. Loved the surroundings. Check out the toilets
R. D.
Friendly staff, delicious drinks and good price
C. G.
One of the nicest Wetherspoons pubs you’ll ever visit. The interior is all high ceilings and ornate brass fixtures and wood panelling. Look out for the stone horse head status on the way to the toilets too! Service is quick and staff friendly. Get yourself the Wetherspoons app to order drinks and food from your table.
S. S.
great pub. fast service a lot of space very clean. large selection of beers as well as food and other drinks.
T. S.
Great food, reasonably priced and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I was also very impressed with the artwork on the walls and ceiling. Only downside was it was a bit packed but that isn't the venue's fault. I would recommend highly
J. N.
Stunning interior although that isn't unusual for pubs in this part of London.
Adnams Ghostship was well kept and the food came promptly.
Good mix of people in there made for a pleasant atmosphere.
Toilets could do with being cleaned more frequently.
D. D.
Very good place for groups, excellent interior, lot of suprises inside. Higly recomended
C. G.
The friendly helpful staff made me a lovely bacon sandwich with a pot of tea. The interior was unusual with separate booths along one wall. All the others in my group enjoyed their food.
N. D.
Weatherspoons.... service was good.
Ordered a few drinks with food.
Drinks came out followed shortly by the food.
Cod and chips got thumbs up... All day brunch was good.. Cheese Burgers definitely hit the spot.
Plenty of sauce to be found on nearby tables. Pints were tasty. Great place for a quick bite.
Only down fall lacking phone chargers which are becoming a necessity these days....
R. H.
Spoons have some good buildings, this one is outrageously good. Makes you wonder what would have happened to the building if they hadn't?
L. A.
Was here on a filming day but my favourite JD Weatherspoons ever. I've researched Templars including Richard the Lionheart so was very personal for me.
K. I. D.
Really nice spoons!
Beautiful building just too bad they close early. On a Saturday night they closed at 11pm last drinks at 1030pm.
P. B.
Lovely pub to have drinks in & some good pub grub. Friendly staff... actual building I believe was a bank many years ago.... good place to stop off if you are going to The Knights Templar Church 🍺🍟🏰
P. M.
Probably the best spoons I’ve been to. Great vibe, food and drink on the expensive side but still cheaper than most places near here. Would definitely recommend for a casual night out!
J. R.
My experience of this branch wasn't fantastic however, a few things must be taken into account here:
1) it was two days before the start of lockdown two in the UK
2) it was evening time. I should've probably frequented here earlier in the day
3) it's London
So three stars are fair despite queues, lukewarm pizza and limited stock.
H. B.
Fantastic decor, felt like I was having lunch in the 18th century. £8 for an all day brunch and coffee, very reasonable for London, especially in a location such as this.
J. D.
The food (battered fish) was lovely, warm and tasty, adequately to the price. Venue was clean, nice and airy. Ground downstairs plus cozy upstairs in surrounding resembling a library.
The downside is that I am quite positive I got 125ml of wine instead of ordered 175ml... I visited different Wetherspoon venue the following day and the amount of drink I got there was significantly more than at Knights Templar.
J.
Good service, can order from the table using QR code. A really big venue. Worth it for drinks, food is actually good too. Had the halloumi fries, chicken wings and the chicken bites. All good sauces too. Very busy on a Friday night.
R. H.
Went to a wedding there, can't fault it absolutely perfect, manageress was a bit moody most of the time but didn't let that bother us
M. S.
Good table service. However was a member of staff who was stressed and really rude to a friend. Was totally uncalled for. She was bumped into and immediately received numerous apologies. This was not enough and in the end we encouraged our friend to remain silent. The rest of the staff we encountered behaved nicely
Л. В.
All of us KCL students have been here at least. It's actually very pretty inside, and I strongly recommend it, even though the menu will only be a bit boring - typical Whetherspoons, which you find everywhere.
M. Q.
We attended a private function here, absolutely brilliant venue with the best toilet facilities I've ever used.
The bar was reasonably well stocked with friendly staff and everything felt clean. We would return and recommend.

❤️ I had the opportunity to pop in to this Wetherspoons pub a couple of years ago as I’d heard great things about the decor. As with a lot of spoons pubs they’ve turned a building that wasn’t a pub in to a pub, in this case a bank. So in I go and the first thing that hits you is the scale and grandeur of this place and ask yourself, am I really in a Spoons? I made my way to the bar and ordered a pint and had a good look around on where I would perch myself. The fella behind the bar was on the ball, whilst serving me he was acknowledging other punters who were also waiting to be served. I made my way to a table by the front door and started to marvel at the ceiling, its a real thing a beauty. The decor here is amazing with pictures and paintings on the ceiling and walls of The Knights Templar who were a catholic military order (Wikipedia’d). There are also ornate columns and chandeliers and a classic traditional bar area. As with a lot of Wetherspoons you need to book an uber to get to the loos but there well worth a look at, weird I know but you would think you were in a five star hotel, they’re that posh. The atmosphere and feel of the place was nice on this sunny June afternoon, the pub was fairly busy but still felt chilled.
.
This boozer may be a converted bank but the thought and detail that has gone in to this place is outstanding. The placement of this pub also has no real impact to the surrounding pubs which is normally a negative I’ve placed against a lot of Wetherspoon pubs in the past. This was such a unique London pub experience mixing the Wetherspoons offering and the opulent decor and architecture, a must visit if you’re ever in the area.

Staff are on the ball in this busy boozer with a mix of students and office workers. Cheap for its location but watch your bags and keep them close. Friends bag was taken from under their feet during a good session.
F. E.
Venue looks amazing and has lots of space - Customer service was not great. Staff more concerned with chatting amongst themselves than serving customers (despite it being very quiet). Food was very good.
R. G.
Really nice Wetherspoons. Staff not that friendly and someone as stolen the lady from the ladies toilet!!!!
C. H.
There are three Spoons in close proximity in this part of London and they are all supply the same good value food and drink. The Knights Templar, however, is the best building of the three. It’s quite spectacular. I visited during the social distancing restrictions and there is lots of space between tables.
C. O.
Visited Friday lunchtime. very busy and noisy. Service was quick and food hot and delicious
G. B.
Love this pub, try and have lunch here whenever I can. Wonderful surroundings too.
J.
A brilliant example of Weatherspoons at its very best. Fabulous bar area with super high molded ceiling supported by black and gold columns. Full height windows flood the bar with light during the daytime. Black and white marble floors around the outside of the bar area have high level tables and chairs while the carpeted centre area has regular height tables and chairs. This adds to the spacious feel of the place. No music, but just the sound of people talking gives a calm vibe. As always, the price of the drinks and food is very sensible for a London location and lower calorie salads, pasta and also vegan options have been added to the menu. Why wouldn't you come here for daytime refreshments, lunch or dinner if you're in the area. My favourite Weatherspoons so far!
Another repeat visit two years on has confirmed that nothing has changed - it's still fabulous. The beers are well kept, the Covid protection measures have been well implemented with screens between tables, no standing at the bar and lots of space to enable social distancing. The ladies' toilets are still to be beaten for style and space. The staff are great and the location is perfect for some off-the-beaten track exploring. An outstanding example of what Weatherspoons do, a bit like the National Trust, but more accessible and with sensibly priced food and drink. Well worth a visit any time of year.

Service and great value
I visit here for breakfast on a regular basis and the speed of service along with the value makes this pub a place to keep returning.
Well done to the team of Wetherspoons staff at this pub 👏
P. P. S. M.
Great pub. Decor is very well done with a mix of old architecture and new design.
Friendly staff with good facilities. Good selection of drinks. Well worth a visit if your in the area.
K. O.
Absolutely my favourite wetherspoons in London, and as a broke student who essentially lives at wetherspoons, my opinion is worth its weight in gold on this topic. The building, service and food are all lovely. My only complaint is the infestation of LSE students, but that's nto the owners fault. If you go to a better London uni you might feel a little annoyed at the posh lot, but earplugs and a few hands thrown solves the problem.
D. S.
The Wetherspoons chain has a reputation for a number of things. Firstly, selling the cheapest drinks in an area, based upon their strategy of large volume sales at lower margins. Secondly, selling good value food - pretty highly processed but hearty. London is expensive and, if you’re on a budget, then the above is great. Thirdly - and this is what I love - they occupy some beautiful buildings in fantastic locations.
This former Union Bank building, located between Chancery Lane and Holborn Tube Stations, is the loveliest Wetherspoons I’ve ever visited. A huge space with incredibly high ceilings and beautiful decor - even the toilets are worthy of admiration! Definitely worth a visit for the building alone!
S. G.
A very majestic spoon, in a lovely building! Recommend ordering at the bar if it's just for drinks cause otherwise the service is a little slow on busy evenings
T. T.
This is a Weatherspoon branch. Same menu as in most of its other branch. I like Weatherspoon places because of their choice of location, uniqu buildings and order system via their app. It is so time saving and efficient.
G. S.
Beautiful Wetherspoons pub, friendly staff, and you can get married here too, which will be next year for us 😀
Well we've now got married here and can't recommend it highly enough, it's pound for pound the best venue to have any celebration in, Jan ( the landlady) looks after you from start to finish, and serves the best Wetherspoons food ever, all the staff are great too and I'll certainly be coming back to celebrate my 60th
J. O.
Interesting decor. But it's just a pub.Reasonably priced for the area. If you're looking for a nice pub not a posh bar this works.
J. H.
Lovely good good customer service very friendly staff quick service even when it was busy
A. O.
Tasty steak, drought Guinness, friendly staff and very nice decor, all this for a reasonable price. Will be back!
m. p.
Amazing historic place with great food, nice prices and a good service.
The toilet is huge and the most fancy I've ever seen in a restaurant!
Z. G. (.
Awesome interior - brilliant really. Good prices as for everywhere when it comes to Weatherspoons. Great staff, definitely recommend.
K. D.
We were there on Saturday night. We had very good food with good price and very beautiful seat. The staff was so nice even when hey looked tired and worked a long day. They tried to manage us very well (the late time eaters). We will come back and visit here a lot.
A. S.
Situated in the legal area of London this is quite a large and roomy weatherspoons.
It has the usual spoons fayre and menu, however being London the prices are in line with capital prices.
Had a couple of large diet cokes. Plus plenty of free water available which is a great idea also able to top up own water bottles for gratis too.
Large sign warning of bag thieves, just be aware.
Staff really friendly and down to earth.
Toilets clean and tidy.
D. M.
A typical wetherspoons pub lovely old building creating a nice atmosphere and not too busy.
M. J.
Oh God. This is just best breakfast in London in my opinion. They also have vegetarian and vegan variations of "british breakfast", this specific chain of restaurant is situated in stunningly historical building with stone tables and all.
T. P.
Lively large London pub. Very busy as is a Wetherspoons. Great decor, friendly staff
W. C.
Decent weatherspoons, food was served quickly and was HOT! Decent pint. Would come again.
c. Y.
Super nice ambient of weatherspoon chain located in very ideal spot location in london. Very friendly great services, super attentive server too. High ceiling , decor design and overall is great. Good places for social catch up, very recommended.
W. B.
The pub was formerly a bank building and is quite impressive with its grandeur of high ceilings, classical columns and decor.
Reopened after lockdown, the tables, with 4 chairs each, are separated by partitions that still give a sense of space while restricting the numbers of customers. There are arrows on the floor to enforce a one-way system. Unfortunately the large circular stone table is no longer available for use as presumably it can't be partitioned off, and instead is used for leaflets, menus and magazines.
Ordering can be done easily with the Wetherspoon app, where you set the table number (there is a metal disc on each table with its number), and food and drinks will be brought out to you. Condiments such as salt and ketchup are now in sachets, rather than the bottles of before.
You can also order at the bar, at designated areas.
The app doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the stock, as Doom Bar was available at the bar but not in the app. Greene King Abbot Ale at £2.99 a pint is not bad for central London.
For NHS Test and Trace, you can take a form plus a pencil when you enter at the entrance on the corner of Chancery Lane and Carey Street. This is now entrance only by the way, whereas the Carey Street doorway is for exit. Fill in the form with your entry time, then add the exit time before dropping it in the box on exit. If you use the app's option to submit your details then you need to do it as soon as you arrive as it gets the time from your phone and asks you how long you intend to stay, whereas the paper form lets you write down the times. Curiously, while the app knows the pub you're in (as you have selected it from a list based on your GPS location), it doesn't know the pub's ID number so you have to get it from the entrance. In short, don't use the app for Test and Trace, use the form. Oh, and if you're with a friend, you can be the 'team leader', and so only you have to fill the form in.
A. W.
Very Beautiful Building, nice People, and Staff , Good Pub Food , very Helpful to tell you about Food .....
B. P.
It's a Wetherspoons! Classy venue, good value ales and traditional pub menu.
D. M.
Great pub, great old features and decor, London Spoons prices, but well worth a visit.
J. C.
A nice Whetherspoons pub near Royal courts of Justice. Cheap drinks and food. Amazing toilets
J. E.
I just love this location, friendly staff and good food 😍
R. E.
As far as wetherspoons go, this place is good. Definitely check it out for the architecture and the artwork!
G. D.
It's a Wetherspoons so you know what you are getting but with a great interior and fancy toilets!
C. F.
The staff was kind, the fish and chips was delicious and the price was below average for London standards. We had a really nice lunch!
M. W.
Large airy echoic pub. Nice location. Friendly staff.
E. N.
Can't decide between casual and fancy today? Say no more!
This pub showcases fine architecture and decoration. If you squint, it feels like an expensive bar. And yet, still getting the same if-it's-bad-why-does-it-feel-so-good 'spoons food and drinks. Additionally, we experienced particularly good customer service.
J. U.
The best Wetherspoon's I've been too. I had the Christmas turkey lunch and loved it. Service was spot on in a nice friendly atmosphere.
J. G.
The Godfather II of Spoons. Otherwise like the Sisteen Chapel.. Of Spoons. Tastefully sad. Enjoying the columns and the depth of space. Decent Dutch dictionarys on the shelves. Real good, real smooth. An atmosphere as black as midnight on a moonless night. Interesting areas. Interesting layers. Would recommend. A+++
S. B.
Lovely pub and staff
V. S.
As all Weather spoons pubs, cheap beer, cheap food.still carrying out covid protocols.
K. K.
Lovely staff, very good menu, nice atmosphere and great decor. Had lunch with a friend and it was absolutely the nicest choice. On second visit early evening it was still very nice with covid precautions in place.
P. B.
Great pub - the drinks are pretty fairly priced and so is the food. The service is very fast and the bathroom (for women, at least) is very large and neatly kept. It is also such an ideal location for when you are studying at the Maughan.
S. L.
Only good memories, fantastic venue.
P. C.
Lovely venue, not what you expect till you step inside full of character enjoyed a wedding receptuon.
M. R.
Classic Wetherspoons in an old bank near Fleet Street. Loved the upper balcony. Great spot for lunch even if the chandler did look like it could have a Del Boy moment 😂
S. M.
Great place, definitely the prettiest Whetherspoons in london. Menu is the smallest out of all the Whetherspoons I've been to recently. WiFi can be quite temperamental and not many plugs or the plugs are really dated to plug chargers into. Found the staff to be slightly stand-offish too but other than that, really pleasent experience.
G. L.
My favourite Wetherspoon in London.
Really enjoyed my fish & chip dinner today
K. D.
Had our wedding there, fantastic location, manager can be a bit difficult, but we would highly recommend it.
P. K.
Good for breakfast, went about 8-45, two days running. Nice and quiet, reasonable price.
G. S.
Great pub one of the best places on London for a meal n a drink
M. R.
An excellent pub with a large airy main room. The toilets are excellent ! and the whole experience using the Wetherspoons app is really good. Food is hot and perfectly cooked. The real ales are looked after perfectly. Staff are friendly and helpful. Probably the best pub in the Fleet Street area and though it's not on Fleet Street itself should be found in order to enjoy a really great place to eat and drink
j. b.
Did enjoy my visit to this pub, fast and friendly service. The building is impressive.
r. d.
Beautiful building not far from the law courts and St. Paul's Cathedral.
Not sure about parking though.
C. F.
Wetherspoons on Chancery Lane. Good location. You know what you get from them! Service was good. Visited at 9pm on a Thursday and not many seats free.
Seemed like Covid precautions taken seriously. Ordered on phone, but can go to the bar to order.
No complaints about beer - lager for about £3.35. Cask available from about £2.30.
S. J.
First time back in about 20 years when I used to work in London, still looks fab!
N. M.
Cheap and cheerful Wetherspoons with wonderfully friendly staff. (Ladies... you have to visit the ladies!)
M. S.
Fantastic historical decor, great prices, well worth a visit, 😃🍺🍻🥃🥂🌮🌯🫖🍵🍾🍰
I. T.
Probably the most beautiful interior to a Wetherspoons you'll ever see. Right in the heart of London.
B. W.
Typical Wetherspoons Excellent value, service also good
R. W.
Busy pub, very nice service, honest pub food, good value.
E. C.
Great pub, decent price, nice decor!
G. F.
Nice location with good selection of food and drinks staff very helpful and overall excellent service 👍
S. M.
Nice Wetherspoons. Usual menu but food better than most. Highly recommended Tuesday steak night. Now has social distance partitions in bar that ruin the decor. But what can you do. Toilets clean. Worth a visit
V. L.
Beautiful pub on the inside! Staff and service were good, and drinks are what you'd expect from a Spoons!
D. B.
Impressive wetherspoons, had an old fashioned pub interior decor. Drinks are reasonably cheap.
A.
Brilliant Wetherspoons pub with a great feel.
D. d.
All food ordered came quickly, hot and delicious.
R. H.
That's a wonderful place for both breakfast and full lunch!
D. G.
Service, very good! Vindaloo, very HOT!
N. K.
Massive venue over 2 floors, nice venue for any occasion
C. M.
Great pub... fabulous display. Just off Chancery Lane. What more could you ask for? Cheers!
G. P.
Great venue and staff, attended a wedding at this venue and definitely recommend it
G. P.
Very clean 'n spacious pub, with nice food 'n good service..
r. b.
A beautiful pub on Chancery Lane. I felt very comfortable and will return.
B. M.
A very busy Weatherspoons Pub serving good quality food at reasonable prices from a large varied menu. There is plenty of beers and spirits to choose from along with soft drinks and hot beverages. Although this is a busy pub there is plenty of staff to deal with all the customers so that all are dealt with quickly without a long wait at the bar.
L. F.
Good london spoons, could do with a few more seats at lunch
T. F.
Food lovely service friendly and quick.
M. A.
Typical weatherspoons, value for money and good service, can't go wrong
C. W.
Great pub right by Royal Courts of Justice. Very handy for pre hearing breakfast. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Great value and always hot although they need to watch over cooking the eggs plus bacon is as thin as I've ever seen. Tim, something needs looking at there. Will return though just for how handy it is.
J. B.
Excellent decor, and the usual good deal with Wetherspoons
M. T.
Good atmosphere, not the cheapest Spoons around, worth researching!
D. W.
Great pub and great staff. A brilliant weatherspoons pub.in the hart of london. And very reasonable prices.
K. A.
We had our daughters wedding there on Saturday. What an amazing venue. We all had a wonderful time. Jan and her team were wonderful, ensuring the day went without a hitch. From the planning, right through to the clearing up they were so helpful. The venue itself is beautiful and so spacious for the large wedding we had. Reasonably priced and perfectly situated . Thank you . Would definitely recommend it. 👍🏻👏🏻
B. S.
Great location, interesting building , otherwise a standard wetherspooons experience
A.
Beautiful place for drinks and breakfast. The manageres was a bit moody and abrupt other than that I'd recommend this place a visit.
A. D. G.
A must place to go if you want to know a really English pub with amazing prices!!
D. G.
I went in on a Friday for lunch. It was quite busy but the pub looked neat and spacious. It took over 30 minutes to be served my fish and chips. When it finally arrived, the chips was cold and the fish wasn't up to the size wetherspoons normally serves(maybe I was just unlucky). The staff were quite nice. I could not order using the app so I had to go to the counter, this is the second time this is happening to me.
G. C.
I had a great time among 5 other prople. Food and beer were deicious. Service is fast. I reccomend it
D. M.
Nice pub, lovely building and very well done inside retaining some nice original features of the building. Food and service was very good too. Not many people in when i visited so I just hope this pub can withstand the next lockdown
K. J.
O my God. The food was soooo good. Especially fish and chips on Friday. Highly recommend
T. N.
Probably the most photogenic Wetherspoons I've ever stepped foot in. Very spacious and stunning architecture. Staff were on the ball, cleaning tables, walking around to take empties. We also used the order to table app, which worked well. Will definitely come back again if I want a drink in the area
P. W.
So pretty inside, the toliets don't have too many steps which is saying something for a wetherspoons. Good prices and prompt service
C. M.
Astonishingly good prices for central London. Very quiet on my visit in the afternoon. Well worth a try for a cheap night out.
R. S.
Fantastic building! The seating is arranged so that you're able to find a quiet nook or a space large enough for a group. Service is quick across a huge bar and if you download the app you don't even have to get up. It's genius. Fantastic range of well priced ales, lagers and cider with equally well priced food. Highly recommended.
N. T.
Grand building. Really impressive bathroom. Lots of space and high ceilings :)
S. B.
Quite a nice Wetherspoons, although I suppose a continental breakfast is out of the question?
G. M.
Most fancy weatherspoon's I've ever been to, fancy toilets, high ceilings, big bar, well lit. Filled mostly with suits working in law but also has the menu that includes pizza. Everything else is as you would expect from spoons which is good for me though overall spoons have declined for me over the past decade as prices rise and they keep taking the best things off the menu! Anyway, great from a chilled, quiet, cheap drink in a nice setting.
C. F.
Great atmosphere and lots of space. We took our kids in with a buggy. Plenty of space for it all. We didn't see any high chairs but we didn't ask. Tuesday's have £10 steak night, which gives you a meat with vege's and a drink plus cheap sides. Really good value that. I'll be coming back here when we are out in the city with the kids, and even more so when we don't have them.

Pub near historical area..massive inside..nice toilets..🧐
G. W.
A very grand wetherspoons with some quieter anti rooms
K. N.
One of the fanciest Wetherspoons in London and one worth dining in.
Based literally beside the Royal Courts of Justice, this 2-floor 'Spoons' is beautiful, adorned with medieval trinkets, and a balcony overlooking the ground floor.
The food is pretty standard across all Spoons in the UK - classic pub grubs at very reasonable prices and a standard array of beers on tap.
The only issue that stops this from being a 5-star is the heaving crowd of office workers drinking in the evening. Naturally, it is the chosen watering hole for many offices that work nearby. Get here early around 5pm to secure a table.
J. S.
Perfect night out destination!
Celebrated my friends 22nd here with card games and too many cocktails.
Big shout out to the big man Daniel, who might just be the best bar tender we have ever had.
Will be coming here again
S. M.
Wonderful place, great prices for inner London,
L. L.
Came here with a group of 12 friends this weekend and completely took over the balcony. Brilliant customer service and really quiet on a Saturday, even though rugby was on. Food was great and bathrooms are crazy fancy. Stayed open later due to the rugby and we had a brilliant time.
J. H.
Stunning pub set in old Bank, high ceilings and great beers
P. D.
Very pleasent staff sell Rosie cider
M. M.
A good pub with a fairly decent drinks selection, but seating is a bit lacking. Toilets are nice, but the sinks are style over function.
Gets very busy after work, not somewhere for a quiet drink.
Food looks like the standard pub fair but a bit higher quality.
J. F.
Attractive Wetherspoons. Fabulous men's toilet.
s. B.
a beautiful and stunning pub! The location is very original! The pub is located in an old bank building and the location is perfect! The prices are as expected. The actual bar is very stylish. The staff is friendly and the food is quick. Always worth a visit!
A.
Bit hard to spot that this is a spoons at a glance. Not that it's a bad thing. Reasonable amount of seating. Fair selection of drinks, but not all the rugular spoons drinks. Strongbow dark fruits on tap which is great.
Nicely decorated with pieces of art which reflect the pubs namesake.
Not bad price for drinks being London.
M. G.
Busy, large but comfortable pub. It's a Weatherspoon's so the prices are good for London and you can get a pint and meal for under £10. It gets busy around work finish and can be quite packed, this just adds to the atmosphere. I would go there again.
H. L.
Food stunning and well worth the money
g. g.
Lovely pub, great prices and award winning toilets!!!!
P. M. C.
Typical JDW pub; good value, good food and atmosphere. Bar staff pleasant and talkative. Nice selection of beers, including Brooklyn, one of my favourites. Great place to have a pint or two. Clean and impressive toilets too! Always a good sign.
R. C.
Staff were kind and friendly. they were hospitable and were readily available. the interior decor was very nice and the toilets were like something out of Harry Potter. great and clean for an inner city Spoond
C. H.
Stunning pub in a wonderful part of London. The staff were friendly, the food was excellent and not very pricey at all. Big name ales and lagers were available alongside craft beers. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful decor!
B. H.
Good food and drink
Quick service
K.
One of the best Wetherspoons chain pubs.
Great offer on the menu including pizza.
Good choice of beverages and drinks.
Be sure to visit toilets *well I can recommend the ladies restroom :)
J. H.
Had a smashing visit. Great food. Well done guys!
B. J.
Busy pub with plenty of floor space and tables, both high and low seats. Order food and drinks from the bar, it's delivered to your table. Service was sufficient. Meat pies tasty but not too dense with filling. Reasonably priced.
L. F.
Easily the grandest Spoons in London - beautiful decor with a glass bar, black marble columns and huge terracotta roof panels. The prices are decent, although not that cheap for where it is, and the food is pretty standard. However, it's the atmosphere that makes this place a nice place to drink - that, and the fact that on Sunday it's one of the few pubs open around here.
C. A.
Portions seem to have reduced since pandemic. Other than that, ok.
J. W.
It is a Wetherspoons so very good price in a central location. Definitely a location to add to the list of drinking establishments for an after-work drink. Very interesting building/interior with massively high ceilings a decorated columns, the name comes from the order of Warrior Knights who set up the nearby Inner and Middle Temples. As expected, can be very busy at certain times.
W. G.
It's part of the Witherspoon chain. The pub has a real wow as soon as you walk in, the toilets are totally original and a must visit. Food was as expected, good service, food arrived very quick, only disappointment was that it was curry night and at 5.00 they had only one choice left, so had the lasagne very good and excellent value.
T.
Have frequented this pub for many years and always enjoy myself. The decor is beautiful and the atmosphere is solid. Very quiet location on most days except Thursday and Friday which is also nice, and within 5 mins walking distance to Holborn, Chancery Lane and Temple stations. Low prices on beer is good too. Only problem I have is the food, which could definitely be better, but then again it is a Wetherspoons so what can I expect, low prices come at a cost. Good thing they seem to have sorted out the mouse problem also!
G. H.
One of the best Wetherspoons. The main room is vast and spacious, but there is also a more intimate setting upstairs away from the crowds. The toilets are good and well-maintained, and the service is very quick.
B.
Huge pub, great for after work drinks. Food was ok, with some alright veg/vegan options at a good price. Often busy after work times, so might be hard to get a table. Download the Wetherspoon app to skip the line at the bar and get table service for no extra cost.
D. W.
Been here continually over the years as a student as well as for certain events which happen on an annual basis. Spacious event venue as well as very understanding staff. With all that being said, it’s a Wetherspoons, which benefits from having a (fairly) standardised menu and price-list. Located in the heart of legal London. Walking distance from the Royal Courts of Justice, Chancery Lane time station and the Maugham Library.
S. W.
Absolutely spot on. Attended a wedding here and all I can say is its a fantastic venue. Vast range of drinks. Great food. Great layout. Can't find a negative. If your thinking of getting married get hitched here.
A. A.
One of the best Wetherspoon pubs I have been to. The decor is quite amazing. High ceiling and large windows and pillars. Look up and you see an authentic restored ceiling and behind the bar a giant statue of a Knight! For the area it has one of the cheapest selection of standard drinks and the reliable weatherspoon menue. It is a favourite watering hole with the local business community so expect larger crowds that can spill out on to the street at peak times. It can also get noisy at these times. The staff are generally friendly and helpful especially considering how busy they can get! Will be going back there.
l. w.
Food was great, everything on time service good
C. H. M.
The best pub is London! Amazing food and beers on tap.
J. F.
This place is a decent enough bar. Very spacious and lots of seating however it is always very busy in the evenings after work. Be preaped to queue for a long time at the bar. Also very noisy,; good atmosphere, but a bit too loud for a proper conversation. Drinks and food are priced lower than most bars in central London, but still high for a Wetherspoons.
P. C.
Probably the best Wetherspoons in the world! Beautiful old bank building, Helpful, friendly and competent bar and wait staff (in London, that's a rarity). Good beer. Okay food. Reasonable prices.
I. G.
Very good conversion of a bank. Beer excellent and haggis special very acceptable!
A. L.
Pretty big pub, impressive selection of drinks (some really nice gins too), friendly staff and good food at reasonable prices. It's downstairs from our office, so it's a nice place to be on your lunch break. It can be very busy during rush hour as you can imagine, and you might struggle to find a table.
L. B.
Very nice decor and the food is excellent.
G. W.
Legendary watering hole for after work drinks. The building is quite impressive but can get very busy at times between 5 and 7. Big place though with some informal standing space outside in the summer. Overlooking the fact that it's a Wetherspoons this gets 5 stars for the memories but really it's not one to go out of your way for.
S. M.
Friendly staff. Glass of wine for £2.50..
S. P.
It's a Weatherspoons. Great cheap night out in the city. Get here early if you want a table, there's a no reservation policy and it gets busy. Although it gets busy, staff work fast and usually the wait at the bar isn't long at all.
The toilets are HUGE. It feels like an adventure going down to them.
E. H.
One of my best friend's got married here. It is a traditional pub during the week but on weekends is available for private hire. It has a very traditional décor and is rich in history. We all had a lovely time and would definitely go back for a drink.
S. G.
Food very good was not informed i was entitled to a free drink.
This was sorted when I went back. However the red wine was fizzy and definitely off. The manager insisted it was gas from the pumps. We were not desperate enough to drink it but disappointed
Apart from that the other staff were helpful and the prices same as elsewhere in the country.
P. W.
Huge pub with massively high ceilings and some fabulous decoration that are worth going to look at. As Weatherspoons go this is a good one. Usual array of real ales and non London prices: £2.50-3.95 per pint. Well worth a visit.
I. T.
Very noisy. Difficult to have a conversation with friends.
R. B.
Good value pub grub
L. J.
It's a Wetherspoons on Chancery Lane on the middle of the legal district of London. Good choice of beers at good prices for central London. Hence it gets very busy, especially after 5pm when people call in after work. It's a good place for food and drink however if you're on a budget in London, with lots to see around it.
J. C.
Classic wetherspoons vibe but in the City. Great architectural decor, remnants of the old Gin palaces. A funky disorientating and unique layout to the mens toilets, especially after a few - well worth it.👌
C. l.
Another great spoons pub .
s. j.
This is a beautiful Georgian pub. Love the atmosphere, hard not to feel a bit posh in these surroundings. Staff was really nice on my visit there, nice to have a unforced chat. Really a great place to take out-of-towners if you want to show them someplace they'll remember.
P. M.
Weatherspoons do a great job, organising such a wonderful space to ensure that customers can enjoy a tasty meal and good beer in safety.
S. U.
Solid pub, doesn't have the widest selection of beers, but the prices are very good for the area. Gets a bit too crowded at times but the staff is always nice and the food is quite good as far as pub food goes.
H. B.
Brilliant. A truly casual high quality steakhouse. Would love to see this concept back home. Very comfortable. Really friendly service.
Sunday roast, yes. How in the world do they get the goose fat roast potatoes to taste so much like fried chicken? Yum. Dunk some Yorkshire pudding or potato into the bone marrow sauce. Double yum.
A sticky toffee pudding to close? Why yes, please.
S. K.
The nicest Spoons I've been to? Maybe. The most extravagant Spoons toilets I've been to? Most definitely. When our workplace moved out of Soho and into Chancery Lane, our first worry was what kind of pubs would be nearby. Thankfully this Wetherspoons has a ridiculous amount of space yet still manages to be busy almost all day, every day during the working week. If you find yourself off the beaten track, is worth a pop in just to see the grandiose interior
L.
I'm giving this pub a 5 star review as it deserves it, it's a great spoons and the bar staff is great. However I hope that someone at Wetherspoons read this as what was going on at this pub tonight as outrageous. A manager on duty were abusive to staff in front of customers, it was appalling and upsetting to see. Please do something about this as this is not what this pub is about.
m. E.
A great place to go after work. Food and drink are of classic high quality spoons standards. Friday evenings can be busy and it can get a little rowdy when gosling is in town. Nevertheless a great place and I recommend it to anyone
L. H.
Fantastic interior, great food and great beer.
K. C.
Most beautiful pub. Nice and helpful staff. Highly recommended
J. F.
This is an amazing pub with great high ceilings and a great atmosphere . it doesn't feel like a Wetherspoons at all. The fact that you can also order to your table and hear from your mobile app is brilliant
D. P.
Very flexible with good beer!
A. B.
It was a lovely Pub restaurant to get lunch
S. H.
A large wetherspoon pub
Usual drinks.and.food as expected
Very nice building and mainly efficient and polite staff
They want the money before you get the drink - this for me anoying don't they trust you or something?
They say his is standard in all wetherspoon pubs but from my experience it is not so why do it
They are not open weekends as far as I am aware
They're child friendly
Can get busy in the evening particularly Thursday and Friday
No outside area as such but in quiet street so pavement drinking is allowed
G. J.
A Wetherspoons pub, very spacious and pleasant in an old bank off Fleet Street. Fine ales, good range of wines. Tasty food.
Friendly staff. Remarkable loos, it's on the Loo Tour, see TripAdvisor.
D. C.
The best pizza ever.... Interesting design
.. Quiqly order... I enjoyed
R. W.
Could this be the best Wetherspoons in the country? It's got to be right up there. Certainly not what you'd expect from a 'spoons. Usual extensive range of beers and cheap grub, all served in a big traditional old London pub. Popular with city types most lunch times and at these prices even the trainees can get sloshed. Recommended.
M. Z.
Staff can be quite rude quite often and usually a real ruckus going on here. If you want something peaceful with a community. This bar wouldn't be my recommendation. But if you just want booze then go for it.
a. g.
Standard wetherspoons but table service was excellent
J. C.
It's a fine pub, good lighting, nice space, management kept trying to kick us out despite us ordering food and drinks, which is a huge shame, we wanted to do maths round a table with drinks. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR MEETINGS but drinks and a chat should be alright.
C. B.
Great vibrant pub. Great for after work drinks. The place can get very busy but the space is huge with a great atmosphere. Fantastic staff. Huge ceilings make for great experience.
D. O.
Nice big pub and families welcome but more of standing room than tables. My daughter says the toilets are worth a visit if you like a Hogwarts feel.
V. M.
Great pub very impressive inside well worth a visit
J. B.
Great pub, must visit
L. C.
This is an excellent, classy Spoons. Central London prices so bit more than your average pub but worth it. Clean, quiet and the food was good.
P. L.
Great value place to eat in City. Fabulous decor
I. V.
Excellent Whetherspoons in London. Good food and beer, and very reasonably priced for the city within the Law Court area. It is set in a Georgian bank dating back before Queen Victoria. Would definitely visit again.
L. K.
It's the best restaurant I have been in London. I passed this pub by when visiting Temple Church. I am a fan of knights templar, so I was attracted by the name of the pub. The inner of the pub is spacious and beautifully decorated. The toilets worth mentioning too, for even a five star hotel doesn't usually have such luxurious toilets. I also admire the pictures of Templars on the walls. The food price is unbelievably low too. Absolutely wonderful!
R. N.
Nice pub. Good food, great service. Great decor. Very crowded.
G. M.
Beautiful interior. Not your typical spoons.
S. K.
Great value beer for a London pub, but you expect that with wetherspoons. However the beer (London pride) tasted slightly odd to me.
I would return but perhaps head down the lager route if the cellar is a problem here
C. M.
Interesting place, it has the feel and interior as if it was still an 18th century town hall. Very large open plan and serves half decent food. Good place to go for some pre drinks and also shows live sport
C. B.
Good food at reasonable prices, not to crowded
D. M.
A converted bank great decor. General Wetherspoon fayre .
S. B.
Where has the statue gone???,,,, it's my sister's n I family tradition evey time we come down here to have a photo with her..... Anyway best Witherspoon I have ever been to.... Great staff, very welcoming.
C. E.
Table service was first rate, didn't miss a beat, you order you get served quickly, thanks guys.
W. B.
One of those enormous bank conversions. Arrived shortly before early closing (7pm) on Easter Saturday but we drank as much as we could before being ejected. The size of the pub means using the app is particularly advantageous.
O. A.
All Weatherspoons have that distinctive smell of stale beer on the carpet, thats how i knew it was a weathersppons before looking at the sign behind the bar. That being said the decor in this pub is very good i believe it used to be an old bank. This pub also had a lot more space available to move around compared to a lot of the other smaller crammed pubs in the area.
Staff weren't particularly friendly, not a smile on their faces. Still they weren't rude just fed up i guess :D
I would go back.
R. N.
Food fine, but the toilets are the poshist I have ever being in .
L. 1.
Brilliant staff, cheap drinks and a good crowd. You can't go wrong with this pub at all. Food is brilliant and service is outstanding. Would give more than 5 stars but it isn't possible
J. S.
We went there mid-afternoon when it was quiet. Had a lovely lunch in historic settings. The toilets are a must to visit! You wouldn't believe it was a Wetherspoons.
T. C.
Most be one of the most beautiful Wetherspoons in the UK. Worth dropping bye for a drink. For women, I recommend popping in to the loos, they're quite the sight. The staff are friendly and efficient. Food and drink is as to be expected from a Wetherspoons, cheap.
K. H.
Good speedy service considering how busy it was
S. M.
One of the prettiest wetherspoons in London. You can actually private hire this place and get married here if you want. The bar gets ridiculously busy after work but if you can grab a table you can use the app to order drinks too be delivered to the table - 100% recommend doing this.
Two other things to note:
Bad - the place is rife with bag theives so be very careful with your things.
Good - the ladies toilets are incredible. Just trust me on this one ok?
J. C.
This is a great place to eat in Central London if you're on a tight budget. The food is not great - typical pub food, but you can get a beer and a burger [+ fries] for 5 quid. The fish and chips are okay but a little pricy for the quality. The staff is friendly and the environment is lively. There are also a lot of beers on tap.
N. G.
The glass they poured my pint in was a bit smelly. The decor is eclectic and very charming. While the service was OK for a busy afternoon I was left wanting with the quality of food that I ordered.
J. M.
Another excellent Wetherspoon's pub in a classy London location. An old bank with an opulent interior and the usual Wetherspoon's mix of cheap beer and good basic food. Beware, however: often not open on a Saturday and never on a Sunday. Often packed with a pleasant after-work crowd on weekdays.
C. H.
Unique pub, really amazingly presented and decorated. Reasonably priced for City. But it is very busy in lunch timed and in other popular evening times, often overcrowded and long queues to order food or drink which is understandable for such interesting place and location.
J. M.
Fine Wetherspoons converted bank. Highly ornate. As usual a good selection of real ale at good prices and decent pub grub.
R. B.
The best Wetherspoon pub i have been to. Beers are kept well. Cleaner than other pubs by far including the bogs. Staff are very good and the Manager is excellent. Lovely decor.
k. k. s. c.
A nice, spacious pub. Great range of beers and wines on offer. The food is served all day and it's not expensive. And it stands in a beautifully historic area of the capital.
K. R.
Jolly good pub this one. We strolled in on the swedish "julafton" as we visited London over christmas. Had a few pints of ale and as it was closing at six o clock we were offered left overs from the kitchen they wanted to get rid of. That was a nice surprise, just when we were feeling a tiny bit peckish. Will surely be back. Great atmos altogether really.
P. A.
Absolutely beautiful interior, friendly staff, nice food and cheap ;) i think everybody is well impressed by beautiful bathrooms, mozaic walls and lots of mirrors downstairs. I always enjoy my favourite starters - grilled halloumi and nachos. Simple, cheap and nice :) Got to see it for yourself! Located in the heart of London near beautiful Maughan Library and Royal Courts of Justice. It's very busy on weekends but it only gets better! Enjoy :)
G. C.
A little gem hidden off the main drag with loads of room good value beer and food. Found it by chance quite and good place to chat, catch up and tell old stories. Now the place for our regular meetings of old work colleagues.
J. R.
Great pub for business lunch and afterwork dri ks. The ordering system through mobile app works really well! This pub is located in an old bank building so the interior is u usual and eye catching!
I. J.
Interesting building and available pizza make this a pub to head to. This Wetherspoons has a smaller beer range and short weekend hours otherwise would be 5 stars.
T. L. L. a. H. M. K. T.
Professional polite staff, food Served, family friendly. Honestly good times guaranteed
G. T.
Lovely old building. Decent Wetherspoons
D. C.
We went here for lunch on a visit to St Pauls as part of my husbands 60th birthday. I ordered gluten free food but the particular item i wanted wasnt on the menu so landlord Gerry (Irish like ourselves) was extremely helpful and even offered us dessert on the house. It's an unusual pub, with lovely details especially the loos! Thanks very much for a lovely time.
Y. P.
Absolutely loved it ..unbelievable service
S. H.
Impressive building for this wetherspoons pub including the ladies loos! Not to be missed (ladies).
A. C.
I just went for a pint with some work colleagues. The pub does look very good and the pint was good as well. My experience on the pub was limited since I didn't have anything to eat.
D. H.
Beautiful pub...city prices....
R. M.
Nice place (interior) but horrible service.
J. E.
Another excellent wetherspoons. This gets very busy with the law profession after court hours. If you're looking to meet a lawyer, this would be the perfect place. Everything you expect from a wetherspoons, superb selection of craft beers on tap as well as old favourites anf cheap as chips food.
R. S.
Very warm (heating - winters night) and welcoming pub. Good food pricing and not overly noisy. I would happily go there again.
M. I.
Upmarket weatherspoons with much historical interest. Short walk from Chancery Lane tube station. Food, drink and service all good. Bargain dining for this part of the capital.
G. N.
Good brekkie and nice helpful staff especially Gerry.
K. M.
Great location, quick service and fab food
L. N.
The old maxim that, "Its just a spoons" can't really apply here. Its a spoons but it doesn't want to be one. It has a grandness about it which is evidenced even in the loos.
There big, have fantastic tile work and just lool very nice looking. Elsewise it gets a bit dull.
Now I'm not architect nor am I an interior designer, so forgive me if this sounds amateur, but this pub looks like it was designed by someone who had heard of one but had never actually been. Nothing about is bad but, from the pointless balcony to the weird placement of a projector, it just seems off. Worst of all are the ceiling paintings, hardly the work of Michelangelo.
I'm not saying don't go, I'm saying to keep your expectations in checks. Im surprised that some people think of this as a typical pub, like the Knights Templar typifies them all.
It isnt just a spoons, but it aint much else either
O. F.
Unfortunately there was a wedding function for number 13
P. H.
Gorgeous location for a Spoons.
Toilets alone are worth the visit!
M. H.
Was at christening last Sunday, Lovely pints and food lovely,Price very reasonable, The woman working out on the floor very nice lady,Other lady behind bar did great job, Great set up for any party event, Toilet spotless
O. B.
Beautiful old room with guilded decor. Food is good and great value. The meal deals are good. We had Brunch here and would definitely return.
T. P.
Drinks and food reasonably priced -Women’s Loo’s worth a visit for the sheer strangeness ! Actually pub area feels quite dated, but offers the modern, easy “order by phone app” service .
A. P.
Based in an old bank building, this pub has high ceilings and nice decor if you want to visit a pub with character.
The drinks are cheaper than other pubs in the area and the food/drink deals are very competitive.
It is named after a monastic order originally formed by the French knight, Hugues de Payens, which is ironic as it is a Weatherspoon Pub, and the owner of the chain is a Brexremist who presumably hates the fact that French citizens, and those others from the EU, are able to freely come to the UK to earn their living!
M. M.
Great pub, lovely atmosphere.
M. K.
Nice selection of beer and other beverages. Not badly priced (for London). Food looked nice but I didn't sample if myself.
D. E.
Great pub, I came here a lot as a student. Cheap drinks and a lovely ceiling worth looking at. It also wasn't particularly popular with the student crowd so it stayed pretty quiet most of the time.
K. M.
Fantastic Pub established in an old bank, complete with ornate furnishings and lots of space! Great English Breakfast and always a treat on Friday 😊
C. P.
Very helpful staff and good cheap beer and food. Bags of space
A. M.
Located right outside the Maughan library, it will always be the favourite haunt of all King's College students. Apart from a host of craft brews, it serves the choicest range of public food and has the most elegant restrooms I have ever come across in a pub.
S. 1.
The nicest spoons I’ve been in! Really nice interior and plenty of seating. Be warned it does get very busy in the evenings
w. w.
Lovely place with accessible entrance, toilets and bar. Staff were very nice and welcoming. Very busy night and day but still enjoyable and handy for Royal Courts of Justice.
H. T.
It's very crowded on Friday evenings but still it's nice to have a drink after work. Wetherspoon app works so very convenient if you can find a table as you can order with app
R. N.
It looks like a pub the protagonist meets his English "fixer" friend in in an American spy movie. It's obviously a very old historied London 'room', but the pub itself feels almost guilty to be there, like set dressing that will be torn down after the scene ends.
P. W. (.
Food was very nice, service was very good.
S. P.
Nice building - it boasts a lovely Portland stone exterior and an ornate ceiling within, supported by mahogany-faced columns. I suspect it was once a bank.
But nowadays it has that typical 'noisy cafeteria' vibe and aroma that seems to define so many Wetherspoons. No wailing babies and children, nor hordes of pensioners at the time of my visit - unlike many provincial outposts of Wetherspoons.
Here, there were a lot of groups of middle-aged men in jumpers though, knocking back the cheap ale with their fish & chips. No braying Cityboys thankfully ... I guess they like to go somewhere more ostentatious, and this location is a little bit outside their turf. No hen parties either. On reflection, an almost totally male clientèle.
If you want a great Wetherspoons, I would recommend venturing further east to the Crosse Keys on Gracechurch Street in the City. If price is your only concern, go to a Sam Smith's pub instead - Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese and the Cittie of Yorke are both within easy walking distance of here.
The Wetherspoon proposition is undoubtedly successful - I just don't think this place is a great example of the genre.
f.
Great lunchtime boozer. Good grub good beer and lovely staff. Also good starting place for a night out after work too.
S. “. L.
Often rammed and the staff are a bit surly, but there's a good range of drinks at reasonable prices considering it looks a bit posh, the loos are palatial and they have some massive stone horse heads for no adequately explored reason. Nuff said.
M. R.
Very friendly and helpful staff
P. C. T.
Open and big british pub that can get really crowded. Is very noisy and hot, I didn't like it that much. Is very big but a lot of people everywhere. You have to shout to talk each other...
W. M.
Great pub, excellent choice for a decent meal. Nice ambiance and big enough to find yourself a seat.
P. A.
Nice pub/bar in Central London. Can get very busy. My recommendation is use the Weatherspoons app to order food when sitting at a table..
V. K.
Wasn't easy to find after coming out of the Mitre
M. C.
One of Wetherspoon's best. Beer well cared for and food very well prepared. Friendly and efficient team behind the bar.
R. S.
Not a bad spoons, often closed for private events at weekends. Quite a grande interior compared to other branches , I believe it's a former bank from the days when banks were impressive affairs.
J. J.
Amazing pub and public place
K. E.
Great atmosphere. Wetherspoons food. Slightly pricey compared to other wetherspoons, but still a lot less than surrounding places. AMAZING toilets. Must see!
J. M.
Possibly the most richly adorned Wetherspoons in London. A pub in the interior of a former bank, it is grand, cheap, and a pleasant place to enjoy a few drinks or good value food.
J. M.
Great Weatherspoons pub. Really beautiful building, big space, worth a visit as in a very interesting part of London.
D. H.
Great value good staff!
J. F.
Great fish and chips on a Friday, and save a couple of pounds if you order a drink with. Very full on Friday evening so a bit loud.
P. B. E.
An amazing experience overall, the sound system is kind of lacking, although since the actual building looks really antique, that's a detail I'm not surprised isn't quite present. Still 5 stars from me.
E. H.
Good pub, Lovely architecture and a cheap pint for the area and food at a spoons is always bod standard but fills a hole!
C. H.
Beautiful building, good food and really quick service. The ladies toilets are amazing and worth a look even if you don't need to go!
M. M. P.
It's a great restaurant for an English breakfast or a filling dinner. Prices were more reasonable than I would expect from such a lavish establishment.
A. B.
Super place. Highly recommended
J. M.
Old banks make for great pubs. High ceilings let the sound carry and creates a great atmosphere. Very good ales on offer 👍
G. C.
Really nice building as it is very old. If you like standard fair then it will be ok for you.I like craft so it is not for me. The only real reason I give 3 star as it gets too full and it is too central .
x.
Nice and clean pub. The food was really nice. The Pub had lots of character compare to others in the chain. Plenty of beer choice
S. D.
What a pub and in spectacular surroundings.
F. G. U.
Amazing and huge pub. Average priced, I'd say it has a very good price benefit ratio. I will definitely visit again.

We all love a good spoons
N. P.
Great food and great drinks. I was impressed by the high ceilings and historical decoration. It's a spacious, accommodating and comfortable place to go out for drinks.
M. F.
Absolutely brilliant pub , the food is great , the staff are always polite and helpful, wonderful atmosphere and a fantastic place to bring the family .
C. G.
Not too busy. Breakfast was ok, could have been warmer.
A. K.
Great atmosphere and design, classic Spoons prices, one of the top choices for pub in the area. always busy in the evenings but it’s worth it
B. S. (.
Great wetherspoons with unique tables and inside
p. s.
My favourite spoons. Always good quality ales, food is good. Service is excellent. It's kept clean as well which many could learn from.
C. G.
A big pub for a bug do. After work, Leaving do our Birthday party, book a room and get the app out! Cheap beer, chips and pizza.
M. P.
Lovely big pub, it is a wetherspoon so the drinks are are really cheap and the food pretty decent, close to the many other pubs in Fleet Street
A. T.
This is one of the many traditional pubs in the heart of the City. Perfect for after work drinks. Great atmosphere and love the interior!
S. P.
Great place for lunch or after work! Been here a few times now, service is great especially quick when you order from the app. I would def recommend this place.
S. W.
Food ok. Drinks a tad more expensive than an outer London spoons. Love the decor and ambience, very loud and lively.
S. D.
Lovely atmosphere and amenities
I. T.
Large wetherspoon pub in a former bank. Lots of tables and usually very busy and noisy. There are better pubs nearby but nice decor.
H. D. W.
Standard weatherspoons, cheap drinks, a decent length bar so service is relatively speedy, decent pub grub. Does get very busy in the evening
D. F.
Fantastic Wetherspoons which would not be out of place in your local high street. Staff excellent, food always top notch. A real home from home in the centre of the city. Thanks guys.
R. C.
Best Spoons food I've had.
J. J.
Brilliant pub nice meal and pint
S. K.
Very business but lots of bar staff and a quick service...ordered food through the app it was quick and efficient. Such a lovely building
I. M.
Interesting spoons building. Only 2 cask on during my visit.
J. O.
Great spoons, great value,
A. T.
Friendly service and good reasonably priced food. Also good if going with children. Would definitely return to this venue if in this area of London again.
V. B.
Good pub, decent number of bar staff which is unusual for a London pub where you normally grow a beard before getting served.
A. B.
Food is okay a bit dry but what more do you expect from a Weatherspoons you really go there for a good selection of beers, ales and spirits...
X. V.
Cheap prices, good food, an amazing old bank. Perfect for students and if you go to King's, bonus point: it's right across the street from the library.
J. S.
Good location and fabulous building with great staff. Just lost 1 star as the range of guest beers wasn't as good as other 'spoons.
L. C.
This is a standard pub with an old style layout. Based near Fleet Street close to Chancery Lane it takes in the local business crowd and is particularly busy on weeknights. The drinks are reasonably priced for the area. The food is average and fairly standard. It has many food and drink offers, which increases popularity. The venue shows sport and is a popular choice amongst locals. It can get noisy when full, but it is an enjoyable pub to visit.
O. W.
A Wetherspoons pub, which means cheap food and drink. It's good value, but not particularly pleasant to spend time in, which is a shame, because the building itself is a gorgeous old Georgian bank, with columns and high ceilings.
1.
One of my favourite Weatherspoons in the centre. Food, beer and as always cheaper than other pubs up to £1 pint cheaper. Opens early and beer all day.
B. R.
Just found ya food was great
D. T.
Beautiful decor. Great value food and drink
a. w.
Nice pub, full of up and coming lawyers I suppose. However the bacon and chicken bbq wrap was appalling, almost devoid of content other than the bbq sauce.
D. W.
Standard Spoons - average food keenly priced, good beers. Nicer surroundings than usual, often very busy
E.
Great place for a drink after work.
K. N.
Great place for social meet-up. Looks nice with high ceiling and decor. Service is quick and food is decent too.
M. J. C.
Near central london county court, this pub is a good place to sit in and eat. Its a bit expensive as compared to some others with same standard but you can definitely try it.
K. S.
The nicest Wetherspoons in London. Lots of drink options at LOW prices by London standards. Amazing and large venue
S. C.
Nice drinks in iconic location
M. D.
Beautiful design, great prices, good choice of alcohol and food... I believe The Knights is one of the best pubs in London and keep coming back to it.
A. T.
Very nice atmosphere with a large bar and medieval decor (as per the name)
Cheap prices for central London
R. M.
Great pub, great beer, good atmosphere.
G. A.
Great pub and cheap prices. Food is alright and one point deducted for being a wetherspoon pub (Brexit supporter)
r. c.
It's a Spoons, nuff said!
M.
Nice rustic house - library, very spacious. Tasty cheap and reliable weatherspoons menu.
M. D.
A great Spoons, with toilets that seem very Masonic!
Really big airy space over two levels, with the usual food and drinks offers.
N. Y.
Nice pub at a site with a lot of history. Good range of beers, well served and very fair prices
S. R.
It's a Wetherspoons but you only know by the low prices. Amazing toilets! This is a converted law court and still shows signs of the old days.
G. G.
Beautiful building and rooms. Very good customer service and hygiene standards. Clean facilities and in working order. Steaks and salads recommended.
J. P.
Stunning pub with a variety of seating areas, a library room and badass toilets. You can also see it briefly in the Da Vinci Code, so it's pure Hollywood.
M. B.
Good place, can be a bit busy but there's an app for ordering so you don't have to wait at the bar.
m. r.
Beautiful traditional english pub with a nice ambience and great selection of cheap drinks. I've already been twice and will be going back many more times :)
J. B.
Beautiful location, great atmosphere, friendly & efficient service, great drinks! We shall visit this again. The bathrooms alone are worth an Insta-visit! ;-)
A. S.
Nice pub with good atmosphere. The toilets are amazing (you never thought you'd hear that in a review!)
A. R.
The best toilets by far in a historical building, breakfast was hot and cooked wonderfully
D. H.
Just your run of the mill spoons ,
I. S.
Best spoons in London I reckon
A. B.
Large pleasant open space. Fast service using the Wetherspoons app. Not too busy. Good for large groups.
M. C.
Love this pub. Took some finding but worth it for the look & feel of the whole place. Staff very attentive
s. h.
Beautiful pub very clean food was great and really cheap but excellent value and staff were so nice helpful and friendly very pleasant afternoon
G. A.
Amazing pub on Chancery Lane. Great place to hang out after a grueling day at work in Central London. Do try the big jar if cocktail. VFM
J. H.
Definitely the best weather spoons I have visited. Awesome choice of location. Nothing bad to say, you get what you expect from a weather spoons or any pub for that matter.
C. L.
One of my favourite Wetherspoons, high ceilings, Doombar on tap, Cowcatcher and Oakham Ales Green Devil in bottles (as per all of the recent 'spoons that I've been in).
P. W.
Great bar, good selection of beers, amazing architecture with high ceilings and balconies and the toilets reminded me of the TARDIS, in porcelain
K. D.
Did I really go there?? I cannot remember or maybe they brainwashed me afterwards or something. Not a clue but mind you, they would not probably know either as they are very secretive. I remember shaking hands with someone but that's about it. And the only reason I remember it is because it was a very lengthy and convoluted process.
W. N.
Solid weatherspoons, gets super rammed Thursdays and Fridays but with a decent mix of lawyers, slickers and students.
Large and open, with good staff.
G. T.
Lovely building! The staff and very friendly and there is minimal waiting time for food. Cheap drinks and great menu.
L. J.
Lovely setting for the pub.. if you have never been and fancy one it is a good one to go to!
S. H.
Fast service. But, we need to get everyone back to work. Right next to law courts and law society and the place is empty on a lunch time.
C. S.
Amazing Wetherspoons! Interior is beautiful, food was lovely and served quickly, pudding was delicious
M. M.
Really impressive interior, well worth making a detour for. Beer is normal inner London JD Wetherspoons fare, which is perfectly acceptable.
E. M.
Good for a catch up with mates and a few drinks. Prefer the upstairs as downstairs can get rather busy and lively on Thursday- Saturday nights.
S. H.
(Not open at the weekend I think) Great aesthetics and atmosphere. Food and drink deals at good prices. Fast service. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
M. M.
Amazing pub, great atmosphere and always busy. Friendly bar staff. Good food.
L. Y.
Nice spoons met the top man
P. S.
Private party...
500 people, a bit too much work for the kitchen. But good atmosphere. Kind staff.
Good time there.
T. F.
Excellent atmosphere, quiet enough for easy conversation. 18 quid for cocktails was a little excessive though
B. e.
Typical whetherspoons. Really busy on a Friday night. Good selection of beers. Quite a quirky place to visit.
A. J.
Been visiting this pub since it was converted from a bank. Jerry is a great landlord. One of the best Wetherspoons in London
T. A.
Great value London pub but can get very busy in the evening particularly Friday and Saturday nights
J. A.
One of the best Wetherspoons.A large Edwardian ornate building.Very crowded at lunchtime, best avoided until after 2 pm.Not in a residential area,so not sure about weekends.Typical Wetherspoons fare
P. D.
Good pub. Food good but slow but nice. Bar service really good and bar snacks decent size. Atmosphere good
D. C.
Nice ambient, nice beers. The only problem is that they can only open running tabs for over £200, which is a bit absurd.
