Reviews of The Lamb Tavern
M. F.
I had the loveliest meal here, and the staff were so nice! It was a great place to relax and take my time with my meal. The pub is very lively and yet the upstairs dining room is quiet and intimate. I’d come back here either for a nice romantic meal or a loud night out with friends. Everything was delicious.

Great restaurant / pub in Leadenhall Market. If you dine in their restaurant and sit next to the window you get a great view of the market. We thought the food and service was very good. We tried the gnocchi, fish and chips and sausage.
K. B.
We popped in unexpectedly on Sunday and had Sunday roasts and fish & chips. Great quality food, friendly service & a lovely setting. We shared the fish & chips across our 3 and 5 year old and the portion was plentiful, keeping their hanger at bay.
M. P.
Had a Christmas get-together here in late November. This is a traditional City of London boozer and has a fantastic ambiance. We had a table on the third floor for six of us. All had three courses that were superb and those that had the rabbit pie were still talking about how good it was the next day. To add - the service was outstanding! We all ate and drank heartily for about 6 hours and the staff never missed a beat when it came to replenishing drinks or any other needs. You turned a good day into a great day - thank you!

Great location, beautiful surroundings what more could I say...... the basic requirement is somebody who knows how to look after the beer technically and from a supply chain point of view I.e they have what they display. I was looking forward to a well kept pint beer, but ended up with Birra Morretti because its difficult to screw that up. The staff were very nice and only charged me for a half after two failed attempts at pouring, Camden Pale and A Neck Oil. It's a real shame, maybe I was just unlucky. So I give them the benefit of the doubt with a neutral review.

We held our wedding reception at the Lamb Tavern after falling in love with Leadenhall Market and the pub itself. We had to postpone the wedding three times due to Covid but the team at the lamb were accommodating the whole way through. I honestly couldn’t praise the staff enough on the day, they were brilliant, even up until the 2am finish and the food was delicious! Thank you so much for making our day extra Special!
A. F.
Had drinks here for my partners surprise 30th. My sister arrived early to set up the cake and balloons. Jack was super helpful and accommodating. We stayed til close & felt very welcomed. Couldn’t fault them. Beautiful venue fantastic team. We will come back whenever we’re in the area!
J. O.
Fantastic Ledenhall Tavern...pub food and draft pints. Worth a stop at the end of the work day or anytime.
D. S.
The Lamb Tavern has stood in this spot in Leadenhall Market since 1780. It’s a lovely, grand pub / dining room over three floors, with drinkers spilling out onto the covered, cobbled market street. The clientele is primarily suited City workers - so always very busy on weekday lunchtimes and evenings. The venue can also be hired at weekends for weddings etc.
The food is mainly upmarket British classics and is very good. Had a team Christmas lunch here a few years ago and we were very well catered for. Would thoroughly recommend.

Stopped here for a couple of drinks before going to the sky garden, good service and nice selection of IPA on tap. Friendly staff and quick at collecting glasses, didn't order food but what I saw being brought out looked good. Nice atmosphere outside, mostly office workers having after work drinks.
M. D.
Great pub located in a beautiful market in the centre of the financial district. Good selection of beers and staff very nice.
N. D.
Utter chaos. 1000 people drinking in and outside this pub with 20min waits to get drinks but the atmosphere in thr market is always great around christmas and so worth it. Just remember to get at least 2 drinks each eveytime you go to the bar
D. E.
Good Youns beer and fish and chips. Quite crowded downstairs even on a Saturday in the City but restaurant upstairs quiet
R. C.
Amazing Sunday Roast in a Proper Vintage London Pub. Great Service 😃
F. C.
Excellence comes to me often by accident. We came in today for a few beers. Went upstairs for a wonderful long lunch Our waitperson (waitwomen) Debbie was awesome. In fact the best on this trip. We had a leisurely luncn. Travelling in England and Hungary just finding a place to sit and get a little bit of service can be a task. Most places you pay at the best bar when ordering, which is totally fine.
Debbie offeres us service just when we needed it, we were exhausted. More so totally friendly, genuinely concerned and awesome at her job and for her company.
The Lamb was more then I was expecting. Situated in a very busy area but packed with the daily local crowd.
It was a perfect choice!!!???
M. H.
Fantastic pub and service! Great beers, tasty food and really friendly staff. We had a minor issue with food but it was handled so professionally and sorted with speed (exactly what you want - a pub that cares!). Will absolutely be coming back here for drinks and dinner - and recommending to friends! Cheers!
H. P.
Great pub. Just what's great in the City. Great real ale, drink and bar food (sausage rolls) space to sit, stand and chat.
E. J.
We had our work xmas lunch at the Lamb Tavern. The food was excellent as was the service. Really lovely atmosphere and decor. Leadenhall Market is a stunning location too.
S. A.
My daughter & myself went in yesterday (09/10/20) fantastic pub & the burgers & chips were hot and tasty well worth the £35 highly recommend going in there.
M. M.
Wonderful to see the crowds back outside this famous City pub.
N. A.
Decent pub, in need of some renovation if you're going to charge such steep prices of food and drinks on offer.
S. M.
Great pub nice pint and even better home made scotch egg is a must,What a find in lovely setting
P. M.
Great little pub. Nice food and friendly staff
S. J.
Amazing Steak sandwich! Very nice location on the corner of a covered intersection with both indoor and outdoor seating.
F. A.
Very nice layout in leadenhall went with 3 friends late at night, maybe the staff were a bit tired from a busy day (it was Thursday evening). We ordered the same round of drinks about 3 times with 3 different waiters to no avail in the end we got the girl at the front to come over and take our orders. Then the next round we only had to order twice
We had the burgers there which I do have to say we're amazing, we did ask for sauces for the table.....they were unfortunately only delivered after we had all finished.
Mixed review really but the food was very good from what I saw
p. s.
Right in the heart of the city, classic English Pub. I had nice Dry Cider and Salty Beef Bup. Really nice a comely place
C. D.
Nice and traditional English pub. Beer was really good!
M. B.
Great location in Leadenhall, London, plenty of standing and seating area outside as well as inside the pub. I especially enjoyed the 'Proper Job' beer.
P. T.
Lively boozer in Leadenhall. We went upstairs to eat where it was a little quieter and the food and service was good.
C. K.
My friend hosted her wedding here & the staff were fantastic! Food was really tasty too. The prices are quite high for drinks but I guess it’s to be expected for the location.

❤️ Striking pub situated in the beautiful Leadenhall Market which is usually busy with city workers and tourists alike. The pub is set on three floors with with the bar on the ground floor and the upper floors mainly dining areas. This pub is all about the location, you can admire its beautiful surroundings as you sip your pint on the cobbles out front.

Excellent food, and great staff. Would definitely go there again
S. R.
Convenient City of London meeting location. Serves a good Irish Coffee.
S. L. (. N. M.
A bit too busy for me and my beer felt a bit watery. But staff serving tables upstairs was friendly.
N. F.
The first time we came here, we waited about 45 minutes for our drinks to come. However, this was mid-pendemic, they were understaffed and we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We've come back many times since and it's always been a super sorry and friendly service!
T. A.
Good beer, atmosphere, really good service and charming place!
S. P.
We went to this amazing pub for a wedding. The food is out of this world, the drink is amazing and the staff are absolutely fantastic, couldn't recommend this beautiful pub more!
L. D.
Great Victorian style pub in the heart of the City.
Big(according to menu) glass of Pimm's for £11 is a rip off even for such a great location!
M. S.
Absolutely packed - obviously Lloyd's is back in full swing! Traditional pub in historic Leadenhall Market.
C. B.
They're closing early today just as I arrived because one of the staff twisted their ankle and the others can't carry on alone. No, I'm not making this up!
A. M.
Perfect place for the wedding we attended. Great food and great staff.
m. h.
Loads of character, great food and beer. Attentive friendly staff
B. B.
Friendly bar staff, great setting
J. C.
As good as ever. Nothing better than a pint of Young's Ram & Special!!
J. K.
Atmospheric beautiful 1780s pub with a gorgeous wooden and brass interior; so charming it looks like it's from a film set. Lots of wooden tables laid outside under the Leadenhall market roof, and near the Sculpture in the City Neons. Prompt table service. Fantastic gins and whiskey. A lovely romantic spot to while away the afternoon.
C. R.
Nice setting, typical pub. Closes too early on weekends.
J. R.
Traditional City pub in the shadow of Lloyds and with all the city brokers and such. Sit outside in the market and enjoy.
J. G.
Bit run down and people doing coke in the toilets, but for a quick drink it's OK.
B. Y.
An absolute home run and must go-to spot in Leadenhall market. Servers and knowledgeable and friendly and on several occasions have thoughtfully guided me through their essentially English menu. Must haves for starters include the scotch egg and the Black Pudding. For Mains, while the beef and kidney pie is good, you should go with the spiced veal sausages.
Servers know the menu and are super friendly.
After hours the pub really takes off with folks who work in the area. Great place to hang out.
D. H.
Proper beer, good service, great place.
E. L.
Love this pub! Big outside space, great staff and fast service. Definitely will be back soon
D.
Really nice pub friendly helpful staff great service, great selection of beers wines and spirts, worth visiting and I will be going back
a.
we were here for a late lunch so it was pretty dead. my wife ordered an old fashioned and the waitress didn't know what that (even though it was in the drink menu and a fairly common drink) was so had to get the bar tender involved. food was good. i got a lamb burger, which was tasty. wife got the fish and chips, which were decent.
P. M.
Nice real ale boozer, great vibe, good choice of beers.
Z. S.
Food was good. The environment was comfortable and good for our family. The only problem was that the restaurant had no takeout boxes. This would normally be enough to take off two stars, but our server found a Tupperware that she used to box our food. Excellent service overall.
E. C.
Nice Guinness, lovely setting
M. P.
Have been to the lamb a few times now and it's a great pub amongst the bustle of central. It feels very much like a homely pub you'd normally find further out or in Surrey/Brighton but right in the centre of town. Very friendly staff who are super welcoming. A must see.
R. E.
A favourite spot to stop for a traditional pint. A unique setting within Leadenhall Market, this place is food for the eyes while there's a drink in your hand. Bustling atmosphere when the place fills up with city workers.
Friends love this place when visiting London and I take them along.
N. R.
Crowded but most outside. Good service
R. B.
Well worth a visit
B. R.
Great food and beer options, was packed house by the time we left on a mid-Saturday afternoon.
M. T.
A real landmark pub right in the middle of leadenhall market. It usually gets really busy after work with half the insurance industry enjoying a few pints. Staff are really friendly and efficient and they also come outside to take your orders to save you battling at the bar.
n. p.
Must have place for a pint in the City of London!
D. C.
A fixture in Leadenhall Market. Good food and drink.
J. B.
Good for a beer after work. The pub can get very busy in the evening though.
Fortunately they have a good system for when it gets busy. You can stand outside under the cover of the market and staff will walk around and take your drink orders on a tablet. To do this just ask one of the staff for a number (this is to be placed on the floor infront of you) Then simply place and pay for your order (they have wireless terminals if you want to pay by card) and they will bring it out when ready. Much better than waiting at a crowded bar!
J. M.
Delightful pub in historic Leadenhall Market. Attentive and curious bar service. The food was delightful. Had the scotch eggs and chicken burger. Food was cooked well, savory, and juicy.
A. (.
Pretty good for a central London pub. A. Bit small, but all the better for it as it's got plenty of character.the basement level bar is great too. Range of beer is a little limited tho..
M. K.
Great to be back in a city pub but the bill was completely wrong twice. Overcharged by 50% to start. Error or rip off?
C. R.
Was at a wedding here on a Saturday, so the whole place was reserved for about 40 of us. Loved everything about it. Food was good and on-time for everyone. Staff were super friendly, and the basement bar was a nice place to end the night. Would consider coming back for drinks after work some time.
D. L.
Really nice City pub with great staff. Recommended.

The sandwich in Thursday at lunch time with carvery lamb is absolutely excellent. Very tasty and delicious. One of the best I have had for a long time. In fact, I bought two!
E. M.
Beer expensive , only one ale on.
C. S.
Very Friendly Staff, Fantastic Service, would deffintly recommend.
K. K. N.
Decent ambience. Reasonably priced.
M. W.
Good service but it stinks like a gents urinal when you go down stairs. Could also do with a lick of paint.
J. L.
As expected! Very good food, and loads of it. Good prices but above all super friendly staff!
Try their scotch eggs, they are super delicious 🥚👌🏻
J. P.
Great atmosphere, tasty food and good selection of beers and wines in a great location. Solid traditional pub with a gourmet menu that's not out of control or too pricey.
J. B.
Good pub for a decent pint. Spills into streets with a great social atmosphere. Furniture is a tad cluttered inside though
A. M.
Get place to rest your feet after waking the city all day. The free wifi with the seating area upstairs is a perfect combination. Even if you're not wearing bussiness professional, they'll still give you great service.
I.
Not massively impressed. Full of ponces. Beer was ok. Not a great selection. Menu seemed pricey but I didn't eat there so couldn't tell if it was worth the cost
R. G.
A nice selection of ales and the more spacious of the Leadenhall Market pubs, it's also a fantastic place to watch London marathons and other running events where the route goes through Leadenhall Market. Like the New Moon pub, it can occasionally become claustrophobic after work with a mass of insurance brokers and underwriters from the nearby Lloyds of London building.
N. B.
Good bar snacks with excellent scotch egg and sausage rolls. Well kept beer. Nice mezzanine floor of downstairs is busy
R. P.
pricey beers but it’s london
P. J.
Same as it was last year and the year before that and the preceding 30 years I have been in here. If you like drinking beer with people from the London Insurance Market and visiting US Attorneys then this is the pub for you.
M. M.
Good place, nice guest beers. Youngs beers as well which I personally don't like. Prices high, nice staff, good location.
A.
Leadership hall market pub, what can you say... Very very male orientated. It's the city, have a guess at the clientele, you would be right in your guess. There are so many other gems around there that you can go to. Staff have been miserable recently too but I don't really blame them having to deal with the people that go in there. The only bonus about this place is the waitress service if you are stood outside. No one else seems to offer this so that's a plus. However I will still choose other places over this
M. D.
Iconic pub in the city. Royalty and film stars have drunk there and pulled a pint or two. Restaurant upstairs is excellent too.
D. G.
Well laid out for Covid rules and well managed without being intrusive. Service was very good.
M. M. 1.
I've Never Been Here Before, Hell, I've Never Been To London Before, I'm Rating This Place Five Stars Because It Was A Filming Location In The John Wayne Movie Brannigan .
D. C.
Great variety of beer, atmosphere of a good English pub. When it's crowded gets quite hot and smells a bit weird.
S. C.
Good beer, good wine, friendly staff, okay food. Lots of suit robots. Harry potter surroundings. Avoid if allergic to city types. (If your are a city type then - come one come all). Closed on weekends.
K. B.
Good to have a beer 🍺 with friends
R. D.
Great ale and atmosphere

Back in the late seventies and early to mid eighties when I worked just over the road in Lime Street this was my regular lunchtime drinking place.
Spent many an hour in the downstairs bar quaffing pints of Wethereds.
It's become a lot snazzier down there nowadays!
