Reviews of The Lordship Pub

From not visiting since this pub was The Mag 7 years ago have just returned from another superbly cooked Sunday lunch (twice in 2 weeks). Without doubt the best Sunday lunch in the surrounding areas. Last week we all had the beautifully cooked rare roast beef (actually rare which is .......rare!) accompanied by a large fluffy Yorkshire, crisp green beans and peas and carrots that still had a bit of a crunch. Covered in a very lovely gravy. Our 10 year old daughter, who is quite a fussy eater, had gravy on the side and Iggy our very friendly waitress quite happily swapped out roast potatoes for chips. A shared flavoursome, but light sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream rounded off a great Sunday lunch. A very good and extensive wine list, we opted for a bottle of the Italian house red which was light and went well with the beef. We have just returned from our second visit. Iggy immediately acknowledged our us and who said " I remember you" to our daughter "Adult sized rare roast beef" . However, this afternoon my wife wanted to try the port belly and out daughter was unsure. Our very friendly waiter, Alex, said to our daughter, "If you don't like it, we will happily swap out to beef" taking the pressure off. The good sizes pork belly was amazing, hint of fennel and pull apart, melt in your mouth meat, topped with a light and crunchy crackling (not a soggy/ hard bit in sight). To be fair we were all quite full, but managed some stilton and a dessert wine, our daughter couldn't be tempted ...to another sticky pudding (so no photo). The very friendly and professional manager Chris runs the team well and good to see new joints on the side in the open kitchen at 5pm. Only concern about booking later than we had last week would be that the quality might not be maintained, but if anything, my rare beef and everything else was even better than our lunch at 1.30 last Sunday. The Lordship have Sunday lunch nailed and will be returning soon. Keep up the good work Chris and the team, Sunday Lunch should be easy, but so many pubs fail in this area. Will continue to be a firm Sunday lunch favourite of ours. See you soon!

A few weeks ago, we had a little gathering for our daughters christening in the function room of The Lordship. The service, friendliness and quality we received was absolutely exceptional. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, accommodating or friendly. The food was stunning in presentation and divine to eat. Everybody commented on the incredible standard of the food. There was nothing too difficult for the staff. They were absolutely fantastic.
We have been for Sunday lunch as well and it’s the best in London in my opinion. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Amazing meal. Great vegetarian selection. Sticky toffee pudding to die for. Plus… staff were really great. Will be revisiting.

One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had for quite some time. Lovely setting perfect for family visits, and finally, somewhere post covid with decent service.
The food was exceptional.

We recently held our wedding at The Lordship and Andrew, Chris and the team couldn't have done more to make it a really special day. We knew we were in good hands from our very first visit!
Andrew made organising everything a complete doddle and there wasn't a single thing that the team weren't happy to help with. When COVID restrictions meant our registry office ceremony couldn't go ahead with the numbers we'd planned, Andrew didn't even blink when we asked if we could have a ceremony at the pub, instead. We got married in the upstairs room before having the reception downstairs and everything was perfect.
The food was absolutely delicious, the bar well-stocked and every member of staff was so friendly and helpful. All of our guests commented on what a wonderful venue it was and how welcome they were made to feel.
Thank you so much to the team for helping us to have such a brilliant day! If you're looking for a relaxed wedding venue in SE London, then this is the one.

Attended as part of a booking, after a family event. Sunday lunch menu was very tasty. Enjoyed my two starters: oysters and artichoke ravioli. Beers available were nice, and staff efficient. Would go again, for sure.

The food was good and we had a nice time. BUT we were meeting new friends for the first time and meeting up with old friends we had not seen for some time.
The occasion was spoiled by being hassled for the table back when we had ordered a full three course meal for six and continued to order from the bar whilst we occupied the table. A hundred pounds per hour from us (with no intimation that our time might be time limited) to be met with "may I explain", frankly, was poor.
Perhaps not a place to rush back to if you want to take your time.

Lovely pub, charming decor, delicious menu, but over attentive staff - perhaps a one off occurrence with too many on? Two courses served and fairly rushed in around 40 mins of sitting, while 3 staff paced around eager to take orders. Still chewing my final mouthful as my plate was whisked away and in less than 2 minutes was asked what I’d like for dessert. Not the relaxed leisurely Sunday lunch I was hoping for… but would go back for the food alone though I’d hide behind a book

Nice, clean pub with good vibe and friendly staff.
Good choice of beer, gin and other beverages.
Sunday menú looked quite good too but we've just eaten. Might try roast next time we are in the neighbourhood.

We had our wedding reception here and it was honestly amazing. The team accommodated so many little things and changes in timings for us and our guests. They run so many weddings here but they were super flexible to our needs. It's an incredibly well-run service
The food was SENSATIONAL. We've had so many compliments from people about it. I have absolutely zero complaints about anything. The space is amazing.
Beyond weddings, it is also a great place for a regular meal and drinks.
