Quirky pub, great food and service. We were in London and hungry so had a 2 course meal here with 2 alcoholic drinks and the bill was £50. Exceptional for London but more than that it was really nice pub grub, music was vinyl albums, and the servers were outstanding. I would thoroughly recommend this place for its friendliness, food and prices.

Located just to the south of Covent Garden, I love this historic pub. And just a couple of doors away from one of my other favourites, ‘The Harp’; albeit they are completely different! The Marquis is well known for playing vinyl music and the staff are open to requests. The clientele this attracts, regulars and visitors alike, create a great atmosphere. This, together with good food and a great selection of drinks, make this a pub not to be missed.

Love this pub. We stumbled across it a couple of months ago and we keep going back every time - even though we mean to try others. It’s just too nice and has become our local in the West End. So what do we like about it? - the staff: they genuinely seem to enjoy their work and have good rapport. - the music: it’s played from LPs! They give it that wonderful, mellow, rich, comforting sound. Lots of classic albums you’ll have forgotten about. The staff seem to dance and sing along much of the time which is awesome. - the beer: good selection of ales and fizzy lagers - the windows: the seating is mostly in the windows so you can sit and chat and observe the people going by outside - the crowd: it’s a mixed and friendly lot that hang out here. Just such a nice vibe.

Good food served fast - as they say. Went in on Sunday and enjoyed the live music and had some tasty food which came super quickly. Particularly enjoyed the sweet potato fries and also the chicken club baguette. Friendly, helpful, cheerful, efficient, professional staff. Great atmosphere. And we made it to our show after! 😊

Such a good experience with this pub and the lovely friendly staff. My partner and I couldn’t find availability anywhere to watch the England V Ukraine euros game. He left a query on the website and got a call back in no time from Tommy who managed to reserve us a seat a day before the game. Staff couldn’t have been nicer, very fast with orders and overall such a welcoming, warm environment. Loved every second of our evening at The Marquis. Thanks to all the staff working Saturday 3rd of July!

A traditional, old , family run London pub. The bar is small (but delightful) and there is a dining room upstairs. I can't speak for the beers on offer but the food is good and very reasonably priced. Very centrally situated but in a quiet street.

Came to this amazing bar as part of a stag do. When I was organising it the staff could not have been more helpful and considerate. Until we turned up on the day, at which point they somehow became even more helpful and even more considerate. Absolutely legendary. The music is amazing and they have everything! Drinks are incredible and once again the staff go the extra mile. Next day everyone was raving about how great this bar truly is. Truly great. Can't recommend it enough. Thanks so much

Brilliant pub, ex drinking haunt of Charles Dickens. It's know for its vinyl playing records and has great vibe about it. Will deffo be back to see Baz and Dave the Chas n Dave tribute act.

Quite frankly, you won't find a better pub than this in London. Maybe even the world. The staff are so welcoming and fun. You can walk in here alone and leave a few hours later with a few new friends. Tommy, the landlord is the absolute salt of the earth, and he seems to employ the best. They have live music on weekends, and as standard, a record player spinning some of the best rock n roll in history. Give the place a try, you will not regret it.

I regularly perform at St Martin's in the Fields and eat in the undercroft between rehearsals and the concert. Due to Covid restrictions the cafe is currently closed so I tried the Marquis. The dining room upstairs is quite small so Limited capacity. The food however, was surprisingly reasonably priced and I had the best pub fish and chips I've ever had! I shall definitely eat here in the future. Only 4 stars as the real ale selection is not as extensive as the Harp next door, but they do several Doom Bar 🤪

My first meal out in over a year, and we returned to the Marquis, the venue of our last get-together in 2019. I really like this place.... relaxed friendly atmosphere, decent drinks & food. Best of all, superb staff. Bethany looked after us in the upstairs dining room all evening, and could not have been more welcoming. Nice bonus when they get the old vinyl records out and play them on the turntable, even doing my requests. Thanks Guys. We'll definitely be back. We had a brilliant time.

Me and my friend had lunch here at the Marquis. It has a traditional interior of a british pub. I had grilled halloumi sallad and my friend had Meat Pie. The food was ok, did not taste much. I ordered a large portion, but there was very little food. I was still hungry when I was finished. However, the very friendly barmaid heard my complaint and reduced the price of my meal when I paid. The service from the barmaid was top notch, she was very friendly and sympatethic. 🙂

OK, I'm a noverner who has has the misfortune of living dahn here in that there Landan (joke), getting all the bees and honey. In that time, aside from another gem of a pub by the Thames in Hammersmith, this place tops the lot! It's friendly honest. Not brutal at all. I work very close nearby and have to stay.over and when I do, I am thankful for the Marquis that males.9t bearable for me. The grub is pretty decent and fairly priced too. The owners (custodians really cos it is a London landmark), have made it their own but have done it to suit the period we are in without undoing its past history. So, if you're a tourist or just passing or even a local then this place will delight. The staff are friendly, it's always a warm welcome and I think you'd "larve it my sahn" . Cheers

We had a fab time here last weekend. Their staff is really lovely and they are happy to recommend drinks if you're not sure what to get. We ended up sitting outside but they still checked up on us every now and again to make sure that we were okay for drinks. I would definitely recommend their Ginger & Rhubarb gin - we are definitely going to be back at some point.

I came into the marquis after the new 10pm guidelines and was greeted at the door by a member of staff. I scanned the code for the track and trace and was taken to an area. Shane came over and took my order, made my drink and served me also. He was very polite and we got chatting. The staff are all very friendly and they play vinyl behind the bar which is incredible! I'll definitely return.

One of the more lively bars in the general area. Often frequented by the local stage performers. There’s a good selection of drinks, particularly beers and ales. I always love walking in and finding they have a Skinner’s ale on tap, amongst other great brews. It can get quite busy, but the alley and out front are always nice options depending on the time of day.

I was really happy to find this place. A group of us were looking for somewhere to meet before going on to another spot. There was space to sit down on a Saturday night which is a rare thing in London. The staff were really friendly and they have a bunch of vinyl behind the bar that you can request to out on. Drinks were good and if it's still on tap I definitely recommend the Spaten if you like a lager.

This pub has friendly staff and a small but interesting selection of beers. It is usually quite busy but service is rapid. Customers can take their drinks out the front into the street or into the alleyway at the back, which is quite charming as alleyways go and note the Ancient Lights sign on the wall, which shows that the owner of the property has at some point asserted their right to natural light hence why there has been no building work above the ground floor on the other side of the alleyway. The pub has an upstairs bar and seated area that can also be reserved for private functions. I regularly drink here after work, see you there :)

Nice traditional English pub. In addition to many beers to choose from they have a cider on tap as well as a few in bottles. There is a restaurant connected to the pub and you may order from a smaller menu in the pub. The bangers and mash were wonderful and the burger gets good feedback aa well.

We came here after not being able to get into The Harp on a Thursday night not expecting much but there was a band playing old dance hall classics, a welcoming atmosphere and a great bar staff. We had a great time for lateish drinks but can't comment on the food.

Went in because the magnificent Harp a couple of doors down was too full. The Marquis had plenty of seats free, was warm and the welcome was friendly. Also had four good ales on draught, two of which I'd never tried before so didn't feel I was missing out on The Harp's beer pedigree. A more than adequate alternative for ale drinkers.

Not a fan of this pub's layout, it feels like you're in the way everywhere, it's cramped inside and out but appreciate there's little they can do about. For this reason I would say this is alright for a quick drink but not great for a session. Finally, good selection of drinks, nice staff, haven't tried the food.

Nice pub which looks rather shallow (as in you immediately see the wall when you enter) but it actually extends quite far towards the back. As it's in a long shape there is plenty of room to learn on or sit next to the window for a bit of people watching. I will never forget a homemade cider I had here 3-4 years ago - with lots of spices and a cinnmon stick served in a clear glass - that made winter worth living for!

In the middle of tourist-heavy Covent Garden this little boozer has managed to keep a local and authentic feel. Conveniently located across from the police station just in case any frisky bar fights break out, not that they would among the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Food doesn't look half bad either.

There's a small out the back, often full of drinkers and smokers on a warm day. The upstairs bar is great for a relaxing after work drink with friends. Great little pub just a few minutes from covent garden , freindly staff and good food , restaurant on the first floor , toilets are down a small staircase to the basement so may not be suitable for disabled customers . And the best bit is they play records all day you can even take your own in and ask them to spin them

This is the bar I always go to if I'm around Soho/Covent Garden and want a no hassle drink. There's always a good atmosphere, the drinks aren't too expensive and the staff are friendly. If it's a nice day, they have some outside space in front of the pub, as well as in the alley behind.

When possible I love to go to the first floor and stay there with the group, but sometimes the manager, wants us to stay all packed up on the ground floor. Anyhow it is a nice place to be, but if it gets to crowded gets a bit uncomfortable and accessing the bar almost a nightmare. So in the end he has a packed house, where people just don't move to the bar, because it is hard to move. The prices are average, but some items are a bit spiced up.
