Reviews of The Merchant of Battersea

Without a doubt my favourite pub south of the river. I’ve been coming here for years and it never fails to deliver. No better place to watch sport and sink pints
C. M.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff, especially Matt the bartender, enthusiastic and charming who I had a very good conversation with I was thoroughly looked after, food is very delicious, very good night out when youre out at the merchant :)
J. P.
Wow what a Christmas dinner. Made the table with crackers n all, epic evening. Decent vibe, reasonably priced and great food - desserts were flipping enormous. Would recommend
M. R.
Great food and atmosphere, especially for the live music. Mikey was chatty and attentive serving us as well!

Wednesday Wings are phenomenal! Staff very friendly and food is very fresh 😊 love it!

Great pub for watching sport, delicious Sunday roast, lovely team. Pub quiz on a Sunday night is a good laugh too!
F. M.
Lovely drink and people- highly recommend! Also the steins are great! Pub quiz on a Sunday is fab!

We had a great time
The bar staff were very friendly and had some good recommendations
A. M.
Hands down favourite pub in Clapham! Staff are just amazing and friendly and best place to go for a pub quiz on Sundays!!
M. C.
This has and still is, my favourite place in London. From arriving at 7am for the Lions tour of NZ, to live acoustic nights on a Saturday and most importantly the football! Harry and the team are bloody magnificent. Just go there for pints, wings and sport and you won’t be disappointed kids.
S. Y. D.
Has a very nice Sunday lunch with the team. Service was great and so was the music

I have been coming to this pub for years. It has always had great service and drinks to offer. Great place to watch the football. Highly recommend.

Stopped off for a g and t on the way to a festival in clapham, reasonably prices, well presented. Table was clean and comfy, bar staff were really nice 👌

No. 1 pub in all of great south london! The only place to watch the footie. Great atmosphere. Top draw food. Friendly staff, and always great music as the evening goes on. Pub quiz was great on a Sunday eve pre-covid. Looking forward to a return to some normalcy here in the near future! Trust the local Mayor will sort it! 😉
M. C.
Fantastic pub, amazing atmos and welcoming staff. Recommend highly.
A. J.
Xmas dinner, had lots of other xmas parties but the service was great
O. F.
Initially ordered a Beavertown Gamma Ray beer which tasted a bit off. I've mentioned this and got another one on the house. Very kind.
Plenty of screens, sadly Switzerland lost against Italy, but that's not the pub's fault.
L.
One of the best pubs!!! Really friendly and helpful staff, amazing wine collection and food. Harry and the rest of the staff went beyond to give us an exceptional service. We will definitely visit again. Thank you Merchant
R. W.
Table service was good. Wings were excellent. Burger wasn’t great with lots of gristly meat. Friendly staff accommodated our request to watch the rugby and turn down the aircon.
L. M.
Good place to watch the footy, good selection of beers, can get a bit hot
J. B.
Good pub with live music on a Saturday night!
M. K.
Good vibes! Friendly staff and overall a great evening
D. B.
I stopped briefly in this pub on an early Saturday afternoon after a football game: a rugby match was playing on a big screen, while a young, mixed audience was sipping beer and chatting in a buzzing atmosphere. The place is warm and bright thanks to the big windows over the road, and would surely deserve 5 stars... if it weren't for the fact that the pint of neck oil beer I ordered costed me almost 7 pounds. Maybe it's because I don't frequent pubs too often, but that seemed a steep increase from the last time I tried one.
S. M.
Very friendly and professional staff... Me and my gang had a blast
j. f.
The best sports bar in Battersea hands down! Three large screens of sport always on, and a great selection of craft beers on tap. The pub food is excellent to a very high standard and caters well to everyone, even me as a vegetarian eats here happily. Get there early on game day as the pub fills out quickly
C. C.
Great for sport on TV. On big fixtures they say they leave tables that aren’t booked so you can rock up early but not really the case. Usually any table worth sitting at is booked. Good drink choice but spenny and the toilets always smell terrible!
J. A.
Very nice pub put it is let down by a very poor online bookings services. Tried ring 7 times over two days to get a booking and the phone was never picked up. Sent two emails to the enquire email address that were never replied to.
G. G.
The food is always great! Sports on the big screens! Three separate sound systems and three sky boxes! Every sports lovers dream. dog friendly! I have been here many times the drafts and the hosts knowledge of the beers never cease to amaze me! Well run bar that doesnt get enough credit!
L. E.
I've not tried the food and the drink selection is fairly standard but I come here frequently to watch football. They have a great vibe on match day and the projector screens are very good quality. It does get busy but they manage it well and you'll never wait too long to get served, even if it's a bit crowded. I'd say match day is what they do best and they are, in my experience, the best at it

Lovely place with good vibe. Definitely better to walk the few hundred yards away from the likes of the soulless post and all bar one and the too busy pubs like the falcon etc.
Food is great too...cant complain one bit
Check this out as a visitor or a local... a good bar all round
C. W.
Friendly pub with a good atmosphere
F. C.
Amazing service and staff. Food and drink was also second to none 👌
K. H.
Went for a chill Sunday afternoon sesh. Did a pub quiz and had a few. Staff were super friendly and Benji ran a great quiz.
A. D.
Very nice place. Bouncers do good search so feel safe once in too! Great place to have a pint or 2 with your mates on weekends and weekdays.

Good service and they serve any of the beers in steins, which I highly recommend. Also they're taking covid seriously.
T. W.
Great place to watch football after grinding out a disappointing Sunday League loss on Clapham Common. Very nice pub generally.

Went in the afternoon so it was empty. Lovely venue, nicely decorated, beer reasonably priced, lovely staff. You'd need to love throbbing and lively to go there in the evening, though
C. M.
Ate here the other evening and we both had the salmon burger which we'd both highly recommend. It was proper pieces of salmon fillet, way better than your normal fish burger. Service good but was very quiet as early on a Tues evening.
M. H.
Recently booked a table for a Xmas function for our football team. The communication between Dean and his team was excellent and they let me know clearly what they needed to know.
On the night Gavin and his team were excellent and made sure we were happy and that we had everything we needed. There were some minor issues with dessert, but didn't affect the overall experience. Gavin was even super patient whilst 12 drunken men figured out how to split a large bill!
Cheers

Great food as well.

Really lovely atmosphere even on a quiet evening and so much fun when the projector is down for sports. Really friendly and fun staff
D. A.
Good service and they serve any of the beers in steins, which I highly recommend. Also they're taking covid seriously.

Outstanding Sunday lunch (£15.50) for belly pork with all the trimmings and more screens with sport on than you can shake a stick at.
J. W.

A great spot to watch live sport in the large projector screens. Can get a bit too busy and not enough bar staff.

H. P.
Good pub with nice beers on tap but a bit hot and sweaty on a Saturday evening.
F. C.
Amazing service and staff. Food and drink was also second to none 👌
J. J.
Pleasant enough but the staff ate not always the most proffessional. Beer is decent, but its not exactly cheap.
T. J.

Bit over priced for what it's is. They try and charge artisan prices for average beers
C. L. B.
Staff were lovely but there was a lot of confusion when ordering menu items and when it came to paying the bill
L. J.
Great atmosphere, good selection of food wine & beers
P. L.
