Reviews of The Owl & The Pussycat

This pub has to be the best in Ealing. Rob has an amazing range of beers, ciders and a nice New Zealand white wine. It’s a true boutique pub, quaint, brilliant service. Your missing out if you’ve not visited. BTW Buy a beanie, just what’s needed for these cold nights.

Tiny, cozy pub. Went there to play some chess with my friend after reading online that this was a very good place where to play chess. There were no chessboards, but we found delightful service, respectful staff, amazing and unique cider, and we even managed to play a good game of Scrabble. Recommended!

Excellent micro brewery pub. Well stocked. Nice seating and surroundings. Locals are interesting
J. P.
Interesting choice of beers; nice to try somewhere local and something new / different… if you like originality this would be your thing. Great. Thanks
S. D. M.
Love the place, great beer, just empty when I was there, not much atmosphere, no music
R. H.
A team who are devoted to brewing. Honestly they really know about beer and can advise and inform you before you buy. Prices are cheap, beer is very good. Very popular and limited space so get there early. During lockdown they sell to you in takeaway containers or you can bring your own (such as a washed out plastic milk bottle). Highly recommend.

Much more like a continental bar than a pub. Was very quiet when I was her, though that gave me the chance to speak to the owners and discuss their extensive range of beers, which rotate frequently. Will visit again when in the area - quality and price both good.

Small little craft pub. Friendly staff and great selection of craft beers
V. J.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff! Great beer!!
M. W.
A superb selection of beers! Whether you like the modern American IPAs , German and Belgian lagers, or traditional British bitters, milds, stouts and porters, this is the place for you; all brewed in the brewery on the premises or in their new Brentford brewery. Expert advice from the friendly staff can guide you in your beer experience.
It's great for cider too! CAMRA cider pub of the year!
A. V.
One of the nicest micro breweries in West London with some of the best brews. Totally recommend
T. P.
Great little pub. Good range of delicious locally brewed beers. Bottles available for takeout too. Nice and safe social distancing in place too.
L. W.
At first I thought it a bit basic but it's not the place to come for fancy decor but rather a nice pint of craft of beer and a chin wag with your mates.
The beer was lovely and other patrons friendly. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Give it a go you'll like it.

First time here a couple of weeks ago meeting some friends for a couple of drinks before a meal.
First impressions are of a small and slightly quirky space - a former bookshop I believe. Very busy though (always a good sign) with a mixed crowd enjoying the wide range of beers brewed on site.
Tried the mild and then the hefeweizen. Both were perfectly kept and served by the very friendly and genuinely interested chap behind the bar.
In the end I had to be dragged away for dinner otherwise I would have sampled more of their selection.
But every cloud has a silver lining and in this case it is that I will have to go back to try some more of the beers on offer.
Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys good beer, served well and what's more some nice places to eat very close by.

I don’t want to recommend my favourite brewer.....because it’s so special and if every beer lover comes here we won’t be able to get a seat! But....In my view it’s the best beer in London - and Mark and Paul are delightful landlords. Mark’s Janet Street Porter is delicious....but all the new and limited edition brews are wonderful

This is a great new bar/pub(?) with a microbrewery on site- which you can see in all its glory if you need to use the toilet in the back!
When I was there they had a selection of four different beers that they had made with one guest beer. I had the wheat beer and the ale and both were delicious.
The owners are both really nice and enthusiastic about brewing. The pace itself has a simplistic charm to it- no generic decorations or anything which is nice. Unlike many microbreweries in London, the owners aren't young pretentious hipsters with silly beards.
Nice place!

Small microbrewery located in a converted gift shop. Smaller selection of beers available than I'd hoped but this was probably a reflection of how popular it is. Thought it would be quiet on a Monday night but by 19.00 it was full. Good place to try if you want to sample fresh unusual beers but be prepared to be flexible on what you drink. Lots of books/ board games so could be a good place to spend a few hours and try a variety of drinks. Small range of perry and cider available, few red and white wines. Friendly bar staff, no one rushing you, doesn't matter if you're not one of the regulars.
J. R.
Absolutely fabulous collection of craft beers, bursting with flavours. All brewed on the premises. Paul is very knowledgeable about his products and takes great pride about his collection of ales and lagers. Great to taste something other than the usual mass manufactured mainstream bland foamy water
G. T.
In my opinion, the Owl and The Pussycat is one of the best micropubs in the country. They brew their own beers nearby, producing a superb range of drinks. There were 12 (12!) beers and real ciders on tap when we last visited. Friendly owners and regulars too!
D.
Wonderful little micro brewery in ex-bookshop. Kind of like sitting in someone's front room but with some of the best beer you will ever have tasted. And it's not just real ale etc it is a full range including delicious lager. And they have crisps. If you are in any doubt that it's made on the premises you just need to visit the toilets - which means going through the back room brewery. And the toilets are spotless too. Only the slightly plain setting and lighting could be improved in the front room. Otherwise it's one of the best places I've ever been for a pint (£4.40 for lager).
T.
Very cool Micro Pub.Amazing beer and good range also,Great place.
R. P.
Fantastic little microbrewery - friendly atmosphere for staff and customers. Eclectic and reasonably priced selection of beers. Will definitely come back and would encourage all to do the same.
J. T. (.
Excellent micro brewpub. Serves an impressive range of cask ales as well as keg beers, covering a number of different beer styles. Owners are very knowledgeable about the beer and are passionate about what they sell. I totally recommend it.
P. H.
Great to have some well made beers that aren't just versions of IPAs
A. L.
Really excellent micro-brewery located in Ealing. Unique and one of a kind. All reals are brewed behind the bar. A real labour of love by the owners. The Mild Ale brewed on the premises is beyond excellent. It could be easily entered in the CAMRA competitions for Champion Ale. If you love beer you should visit this pub as soon as you can. You will not be disappointed.
R. A.
Spit and sawdust BUT excellent beer and a good older blokes atmosphere. Certainly worth a visit.
J. W.
If the beer is the main thing that you're interested in then this is the place for you. They brew their own beer on site and it is always interesting and tasty. There's some board games available too to explore. Prices are good too
M. W.
You can tell the interior decoration was done by middle aged men but the beer more than made up for it. Terrific selection and the proprietors clearly were dedicated, enthusiastic and skilled at beer making. Really good stuff.
M. M.
Best beer and pub in West London. Really nice staff who are helpful and make you feel super welcome. Get some cheese and crackers from next door and spend an afternoon, or take some of their beers away. Oh Vienna is the tastiest beer!
T. P.
Really weird layout, with the interior resembling a cafe and it is pretty clear the minimum effort has been done to spruce up the interior.
The beer is pretty pricey for being brewed on-site.
Suspect it may not be here in a year once they start having to pay commercial rates.
c. E.
Wonderful range of beers brewed on the premises - the only items they don’t make are the bar snacks and cider. No music so chatting and card /board games popular.
R. G.
Great range of beers, brewed on site it seems, generally with a slight hint of fruit. Friendly atmosphere. Basically small pub with cafe like tables.
J. J.
Fantastic microbrewery serving some fantastic ales. Attended their 2nd birthday celebrations and were very well looked after. Here's to many more years to come.
R. W.
Thoroughly enjoyed this place, most beers brewed on site. The wheat beer was probably the best I've ever had tbh. Friendly and chatty proprietor (Paul). Rough and ready decor.
J. K.
A lovely micro brewery/pub with six hand pumps available and a great range of ales available .. Beware it’s very easy to miss and this is one brewhouse one should not miss ..
Warning : I will be back , it was great 👍
N. L.
A bookshop converted into a very basic tiny craft pub for beer lovers. Board games but no music or telly - just beer and conversation. Clientele either quirky or nerdy, depending on your pov, but if you like good beer, you'll be among friends...
B. R.
Fantastic beer in a lovely atmosphere. Good selection of bottled beers and lots of snacks and boardgames. Really enjoyed going here.
M. B.
Loved it! On a busy street in an old bookshop. The beers are great and the staff are helpful. Very casual relaxed place, worth a visit if you like interesting beer.
D. H.
Quality of beers brewed on premise never fails to impress. Nice convivial clientele. An absolute gem.
B. B.
Visited this pub on the Timeout 'West London Micropub' crawl. Didn't want to leave. Great service from the proprietor, board games, and a beer - Niagra Falls - that I couldn't stop talking about for the rest of the evening. Well worth a visit.
R. E.
Very knowledgeable staff/brew master. Excellent selection of small batch beer. The interior could be enhanced.
C. B.
Good if you are into beer or cider.Theres no lager ,no spirits. Its a brewery.Theres no music either but the fellow that runs it is friendly and cheerful.
N. P.
A cosy microbrew pub serving a rotating menu of excellent real ale, cider and perry, as well as some great porters.
G. B.
A variety of top beers in an unpretentious setting. 6 cask and 4 keg. Traditional recipes and modern innovative ones too.
P. N.
The best 'micro-brewery' in Ealing. Janet Street Porter is sublime and nothing is expensive either, definitely you should visit.
J. E. R.
Lovely place, serves microbrewery beer and cider, both a really good stuff, also has games and snacks
P. L.
Friendly, small micro pub with on site brewery serving unique beers straight from the cask. Some craft keg also.
N. B.
Fantastic beer, plenty of tables and really friendly staff. You can't get beer much fresher than having it brewed in the adjacent room
A. W.
Basic but good. Great beers and helpful staff.
P. B.
Basic surroundings, but a wonderful selection of delicious beers you can see in the back room (The Brewery). The owner is friendly too :-)
L. R.
I used to live in Chorleywood where my local was the land of liberty which is a perennial CAMRA pub of the year affair, and although pubs are great in Ealing, nothing quite had the types of Ales that regularly made the Land of Lib so amazing, this place has happily filled the void, whats more is that its situated in a former kids toy shop and theyve kept nearly everything as it was... awesome!
G. S.
As superb as ever. Superb yesterday. Superb today. Most likely Superb tomorrow.
M. D.
Excellent Micro Pub, Great Selection Of Brewed On Site Real Ales. Very Compact Proper Micro Pub, Well Worth A Visit.
B. O.
No pub in the UK serves its beer closer from brewery to draft pump than here. It's small and fun.
H. R.
Great place for a quiet night out. Not a very big bar, but the seats are comfortable and you can sit and have a conversation.
R. L.
A great venue for beer brewed on the premises, right here in West Ealing. Great Cider choices too
