Reviews of The Pavilion End, St Paul's
C. B.
Argyle on tour. We are back in London looking for our first Friday pm pint! And this was our first stop. Smart pub...so much room including a huge area downstairs. Good service, nice beer but too much noise....and too many screens! Aswell as watching cricket or horse racing they also have music playing!! All to much. Had to go....giving us a headache.
R. H.
I was very impressed by the camaraderie of the staff. Also, I was about to go to the bar for another Heineken, but a man cleaning the tables asked if I’d like another beer and arranged for it to be brought to my table. No service charge, which I would have paid. A very lively, popular pub.
T. G.
Took my team to Pavilion End for our Christmas lunch. Right from the start the service was superb. Great communication from Jess and her team and very welcoming on arrival. Food was superb and much better than usual pub Fayre. We all agreed that we will definitely book again for next year.
S. S.
Had several drinks here after Xmas lunch in the area and loved it. Loads of room, large outside area and loads of atmosphere in and out. Bar staff were fantastic, given how busy it was getting on a Thursday pre potential lockdown 4! One last 2021 city hurrah well spent.
m. k.
It’s a decent pub but they only serve slimline (sugar free) anything. So forget your regular gin and tonic, they only serve slimline tonic - how?!!! In the City of London you don’t serve regular tonic?!! Please fix this!!!
I. W.
A large, modern sports themed pub with plenty of seating and lots of screens to watch the action. The service is quick (though it was a quiet day) and the staff are friendly. The pub seems to have been renovated relatively recently since everything is clean and new, including the toilets. I went in on a Saturday to watch cricket and they were showing all sorts- F1, rugby, county cricket, international cricket, and league two football. They also have charging points which are very helpful! And a beer garden!
A. K.
Been here with colleagues for a lunch, rare occasion now in the post-Covid world. Good was alright, although the patty in my burger had slight trace of the "old fat" taste that happens sometimes, so was not ideal.
Also seating arrangement was weird, there is a downstairs room which was completely empty, but the staff initially refused to serve us down there are required to order at the overcrowded bar on the ground floor. After some discussion they agreed to seat is downstairs and take our order there, and suddenly a number of other people appeared and they served them as well. Not sure what was the fuss about it initially, but we could do without it.
R. N.
Decent pub with plenty of screens for the sports fans to enjoy. It was busy and the bar staff was still cheerful. Not a bad experience in general.
U. C.
Very good city location. Would recommend the kilo of chicken wings, Excellent for £18. Would steer clear of the cold meat sharing plate, bad value for £16 (hence the 4*).
Brilliant staff and excellent for watching sport.
D. M.
Excellent venue together with attentive experienced staff - highly recommended . .
M. T.
Cosy pub - recommend for any cricket or sports lover. Friendly and courteous staff allowed us to book the downstairs area for a friends birthday. Decent choice of beer and plenty of big screen tv’s. Would definitely recommend if nearby
R. J.
Nice looking pub, didn't stay long enough to form much of an opinion! Seemed popular. Large downstairs function room.
J. D.
Good beer, good crack, lots of sports. What's not to like? Maybe the beer prices? Still, it's in the City and if you work here you can likely afford to drink here.
On the plus side, food is reasonable.
C. I.
Can't fault this place, haven't had the food yet, but for drinks it's great!
P. J.
Nice sports bar with good atmosphere, couple of TVs to watch sport. Good food.
R. L.
Relaxed vibe, very good service greeted on the way in.
c. r.
Great pub for watching sport. Good range of beer and some tasty bar snacks
R. H.
A good pub with space outside. Lots of staff but the club sandwich was disappointing. Had been 18 months ago and it had been delightful
R. N.
Nice pub with a lot of sports screens. Friendly staff and the energy was great.
M. J.
Great beers nice size and good food, so glad to be in a nice pub for the first time in 22 months!
L. W.
Beautiful pub in the heart of the city. Showing all major sport as well as offering an extensive drinks range to boot!
Food looks and tastes fantastic, the staff are happy, smiley, attentive and always willing to engage in conversation.
J. V.
Always a nice spot for a drink after work, can get very busy so make sure to go early!
R. M.
Nice range of drinks. Love the Pride, a good atmosphere and an outside area at the rear with good heaters
C. A. (.
Very good pub I'm central London. Feels homely and not expensive with full table service.
K. P.
Lovely staff, lovely beer... All in all a good night or day out
A. H.
Lively pub with decent food and service. Talita the Events Manager was very polite and accommodating to our group of six.
J. H.
Great pub. Nice theme, all around cricket, for obvious reasons. Nice selection of beers and plenty of bar staff, which is important in a very busy London pub
D. K.
Held my birthday party at the Pavilion End Pub and it was honestly such a great experiance… The table was all prepared by the team and the service was amazing! The staff were very attentive and making sure that me and my family was having a great time throughout the night!
R. M.
Cracking pub! Staff were super friendly and the atmosphere for the game was excellent. Good selection of lagers, cider, bitter etc.....Highly recommend this pub if you are in the St Paul's area.
J. L.
Nice interior and quite cosy- it gets massively loud tho so shouting at your partner is necessary to be heard. Also the food was not great, the driest chicken ever on a dry Caesar salad.
S. D.
Staff are amazing, gets busy but that's to be expected considering the location. Good drink selection
L. B.
Visited here for a private event and is a decent pub.
Very busy and nice outside area too. Plenty of TV screens showing the sport.
T. M.
Great city boozer with enclosed courtyard with cover so good all year round. Attentive staff who certainly won’t let you go thirsty. Ask for Catia, always takes great care of her regulars
m. C.
Lovely pub, plenty of space, food was lovely and table service was great.
A. G.
Shout out to the waitress who spotted every time I finished a pint and came over to see if I wanted another - even when the place was rammed
D. F.
Amazing place for great food and drinks!!!
G. S.
Amazing place for gin tasting experience. Very informative, great amosphere and amazing service.
P. M.
Such a great space. Friendly people attentive staff. Such a rarity in Central London!
D. W.
Cosy city pub with multiple screens for sports as well as even cosier basement seating/bar area. Decent wine and beer selection. However, limited range of teas/herbal teas: green tea and black tea (Tetley tea).
A. M.
Great pub. Good for cricket and the food was a good standard for pub food
A. G.
The atmosphere was sublime! I had a brilliant time watching the footy, it was unfortunate that covid brought my time to an end! I will the say the private room is delightful. The service was impeccable and food magnificent.
i. s.
Food delicious, big bright pub with prompt service! Thanks guys for hosting our evening! Will definitely be back soon :)
G. S.
Sometimes a bit slow serving food but good seating area downstairs, especially in the big private room with the round table. Good for a quiet quick lunch while watching some cricket on the TV! No frills food!
D. C.
Great bar,great atmosphere highly recommend.
M. k.
Really good pub with quality landlord and v friendly staff. Many a Friday lunchtime drinks or do in here. Highly reccomend
S. H.
Great food and very helpful staff. Thank you Jess!
N. C.
From the moment we made the booking to sitting down at the table, the service was impeccable. We had the private room downstairs which was beautifully laid out. The three course Christmas menu was a hit with the group as it catered to all, not just the traditional Christmas menu but they also provide a vegan and Gluten free menu. Every dish was beautifully presented, servings were generous, delicious and real value for money! Our lunch was topped off by moving from our private room to a cornered off section of the bar upstairs where a number of other colleagues could join us our small team for a few bottles of bubbles and a Christmas cracker or two! Thanks to all of the staff who were absolutely wonderful and a credit to the venue!
N. M.
More a cricket bar but went to watch a football match. Decent selection of beer and great fish and chips
M. H.
Really good pub, my first time there and I'll definitely go back. Location is great as central for City workers and near several good tube stops. It's a Fullers so the mainstay beers are decent, but also a good selection of guest ales including Gamma Ray and Tribute, both of which are favourites of mine.
Inside it's a good mix of traditional and contemporary, comfortable with plenty of seating. They have big screens so a good place to watch sport, but not obtrusive so it isn't a 'sports bar' as you'd imagine it. The outside space is smallish but well appointed and looked after, good to get out in the fresh air.
Service was as good as could be expected given the Lionesses were playing and the place was heaving. Ideally they'd have had one more staff member on to cope better and reduce the bar queue, but the wait wasn't so bad considering. Despite being rushed off their feet the guys were serving with a smile.
Didn't try the food, but it looked good as it went past, if typically unhealthy as you'd expect from pub grub. The table opposite seemed to love the ribs, burgers and sharing platter they had, made me hungry!
Overall definitely worth a visit. If I worked closer I'd become a regular...
J. N.
First time at Pavilion End and I was a bit sceptical at first as the classic pub is not really my scene.
But the space is well portioned out and bigger than it looks from the outside, with quite a reasonable outdoor area, a basement bar and the main pub on 2 levels.
We had a few drinks for a leaving do and had a nice spot near the back. I was quite surprised to hear that it cost £100 to reserve on a Thursday night😐 not sure but I assume this was taken off the tab.
The bar food was a massive hit, and a big thumbs up to the bbq platter 👍🏽👍🏽.
All round had a good experience and would happily return for the food.😊
G. C.
Great sports bar in the heart of the City of London.
M. W.
Great pub with a nice selection of beers and plenty of wall mounted TVs for all your sporting viewing pleasure! It is fairly large and traditional pub decorated to a high standard with plenty of light. It has an enclosed open seating area at the back which is nice and quiet in the summer, lets you get away from the surrounding hustle and bustle. They offer a good food menu, good for snacking or sharing and full meals to accompany a few good drinks.
N. A.
A large traditional London pub with a welcoming feel, always very busy when London's office workers finish their day's toil and repair to a pub to discuss the day. Cricket themed, (no surprises) it has TV's which screen sporting events and cricket matches. If it's too busy in the main bar, head down into the well appointed basement bar which may be quieter.
K. G.
Quick drinks
Really nice pub near St Paul's area. It has classy feeling. They keep playing live matches, especially Cricket, on big TV and projector screens. Beer and snacks are also good. It gets quite populated on working day evenings.
C. W.
Been using this pub for years, great atmosphere, downstairs food excellent and there's always a good croud from the local area.
And the sports always one, well done landlord keep up the great work!
A. F. K.
Great pub, specially for sports! Very good service, specially from Sophie and Katia!
A. M.
Excellent and speedy service of a great range of food and drink in a cozy, traditional but lively and bustling environment, served by Matas
D. K.
A bit more space than the other pubs around. Also has a little area out the back. Not as quaint or old as other pubs nearby, but has great beers on tap.
M. B.
It is a nice pub. I just like their Gammon Steak with Fries. Good also for watching sport events. It is busy on week days because its central position among many offices and building, very cozy and silent on weekends.
D. T.
first time in here on Tuesday 7th and was very enjoyable. Cricket on big screen and football(Palace V Norwich) on smaller screens, Will be coming back again if Watling is packed out again
M. H.
Decent place especially for sport. Cracking location, food always of good quality and a nice array of beers. They’ve also now got a new private room for hire which is good for small groups

Visited many moons ago on its opening day... pretensions at the time I did not appreciate...has successfully survived the City ups and downs...Fuller's can't go wrong beer wise...and if you are into cricket and other sports none better in City...good friendly staff .. can't complain...expect City prices...£4.50 upwards...
R. C.

Popped in to catch the Europa league final, although it was stupidly busy the beer was still tasty and the bar staff served with a smile. Would definitely pop back on a quieter evening.

A pretty nothing chain pub that's always too busy.
The most redeeming feature is simply that it's better than another Pret.
