Reviews of The Pelton Arms
M. S.
Absolutely best pub in Greenwich and the area! The pub has an amazing homey vibe and it’s covered in old style pub decor. It has a soul and you can feel how cozy it is in there. The staff are very friendly and helpful, as well as the rest of the customers in there. There’s a nice choice of beer and other drinks as well as a great food menu and amazing pizzas! Must come down to Greenwich and visit this place! It’s incredible!
Deffo one of my favorite pubs ever!
A. C.
Love this pub. Always a great vibe, decent craft beer and the pizza is outstanding too. Regular good live music is a bonus as well.
H. T.
Excellent music venue especially on Ron's Speakeasy night. (Thursdays) Great food, lovely and helpful staff. Good beers. Really good manager. Even though crowded, not long to wait for service. Recommend a visit. Have some lunch or dinner as good pizzas and gourmet menu.
R. G.
Loved this pub - Greene King IPA plus great service from the barmaid in the pub used for Only Fools & Horses with David Jason falling through the bar hatch. Excellent beers and service.
C. W.
I like the cosy atmosphere and the live music. The pizza is good and it feels like a proper local. However, I wish they wouldn’t let people vape indoors.
C. H.
A brilliant pub great atmosphere friendly bar staff live free music every week best pub in Greenwich highly recommend
M. L.
I visited here many years ago and it was a great pub then and remains so. Deceptively large with a nice interior and a few ales on the pump. Music venue too but not experienced it on a live night.
N. G.
Especially friendly staff, with a great atmosphere and lots of room inside and out. Great gigs, very diverse and all round good pub. EXCELLENT pizza.
D. R.
It was nice to see FREE live entertainment
In a pub on a Saturday night.
Good beers. And lovely home made pizzas. A great night out
T. C.
Great great pub with a very lively crowd, always very good bands playing and the pizzas are just the best ! I have been many times and live in the area, never ever disappointed with the atmosphere and staff.
F. E.
Best pub in the whole of London. Warm like a cozy Christmas, great selection of ales, and the ladies toilet always smells like cantaloupe even though I’ve never been able to find a source. Exquisite.
S. H.
Love this pub. Great warm atmosphere with little red lamps everywhere. Friendly staff great pizzas done in wood oven round back.
L. C.
Good beers, properly friendly staff, excellent pizzas, great live music and a fun quiz on Wednesdays as well. What more could you ask for - one of the best pubs in London imo.
L. P.
Nice pub good selection of beer and live music. I absolutely smashed my head on the low door frame going out to the beer garden though. I suggest they do something better than mark it up with tape because it certainly didn't help me spot it.
V.
If you enjoy a traditional pub in looks but not so traditional in food and beverage terms, as in choice and quality, then you'll enjoy The Pelton Arms.
The pizzas are really rather good and you should try them.
P. S.
Good place, but they don't do cocktails. There was a band, but it was very loud
M. C.
Exceptionally welcoming, comfortable pub with a great atmosphere. Pizzas were truly excellent and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
A. C.
Very nice Sunday roast! The pub has very nice atmosphere with live music on several occasions!
A. H.
Best pizza I've ever had. Great atmosphere and staff too.
R. O.
Absolutely fantastic weekend there. Manager and all staff very friendly and professional.
Both myself and my wife will be going back soon.
D. “.
Lovely atmosphere in The Pelton on Christmas Day. Would actually recommend going just fir one pint every Christmas.
M. S.
Best place for Live Music
I've been there three times, three times a perfect night!
Absolutely to be recommended
A.
Lovely pub, lovely staff and a damn good pizza. Buy one get one free on a Monday!
L. B.
Bands on all the time and good food as well. Lovely fire!
L. H.
SO happy that someone decided to do wondercrust pizzas here. It was inspired. You will be stretched to get a better pizza around. Only request: would be great if the bar stocked a wider range of high quality local/ regional ales, even in the week.
P. N.
I don't know why i have fallen out of love with this pub, it really is a hidden gem.
The staff are incredibly friendly, funny and the service is great.
It is such a friendly pub.
The Pizzas they do there are THE best in London.
J. B.
Great Sunday lunch with children - veggie Wellington went down well as veggie option.
P. B.
Great music venue, good selection of real ales
M. C.
We stayed at the hotel, it was quite clean and stylish.
A.
Nice pub, worth a visit 100%
Good atmosphere
M. S.
Great stay in Dec 2019! The Pub was fun and lively and the rooms were warm and comfy. Travel into London Proper was pretty easy with the connecting metro lines. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay off the beaten path (but not to far) and for something different (Staying above a Pub).
G. K.
Great pub, great pizza and surprised how funky it is inside!
M. L.
Love this little pub, staff always great, live music, good food,
P. C.
Only leaving 5* as normally a good pub and is my local but this sunday was possibly the worse experience i have had whilst being in any pub. We first arrived and got seated and ordered two drinks, which half hour later we was still waiting until i mentioned it to a staff member and got them sorted. We then ordered 3 roast dinners and fish and chips at 4.15 and we finally got our food at 5.45 and it was all cold. Apart from the waiting time which i can tolerate, what i cant tolerate is rude staff members, i believe the guy was called ed and was very rude to my family after my mum politely asked him where our drinks were after waiting for atleast 25 minutes, this will potentially prevent us from returning in the future. If it wasn't for Claire, we would have left and asked for a refund a long time before. She made it more bearable and was a good laugh to be around with her character and positive energy. More of the staff should follows Claires lead, maybe she should teach a few of them how to behave around customers and be polite.
M. B.
Great pub lovely atmosphere lovely to sit by the fire with a pint
R. C.
I love this place, great friendly bar staff, good Sunday lunch and good music.
D. Q.
Great vibes, friendly staff, good beer
E. R.
Local independent pub with nice staff, friendly crowd and live music. And dog friendly!
P. T.
Lovely staff, great beer garden and great selection of drinks. Lively live music venue on a weekend. Top neighbourhood pub and great to have something like this in the area.
S. G.
Decent beer garden and selection of beers. Pub itself and the facilities need updating. The first pub I’ve ever come across that doesn’t offer crisps or any other forms of snack, quite the claim to fame.
D. S.
Probably the best pub in Greenwich, in my humble opinion!
A striking 18th Century building, slightly tucked away from the main attractions, makes it a great ‘find’. A small interior with a friendly/lively atmosphere and a lovely garden.
Drink prices are a lot more reasonable than others in Greenwich and it has a lovely ‘local’ feel to it. Good ales, good traditional food and a history of promoting live music. Doubles-up as a B&B too. Worth checking out when it re-opens!
B. P.
Best pub in Town. Fab beer selection for great price and the atmosphere and staff and the besssst. If you get a music night, it'll be one of the best you'll ever go to!
J. S.
I recently stayed at this pub for one night. The barman was friendly and efficient, food was gorgeous and we enjoyed trying one of the many interesting drinks on draught. The room was lovely with comfortable beds. There was plenty of storage and plug points too. A breakfast basket was left in the room for us, but we chose to have breakfast at the recommended cafe which was excellent too. I loved the quirky retro nature of the pub and enjoyed the nostalgia of knowing it was the Nags Head for Only Fools and Horses. The toilets are shared but there are 2 toilets and a shower between 5 rooms. There's also a kitchen area with microwave to warm up any food you like. Even though it's a pub, you can have your own food and drink in your room. They even leave earplugs and a sleep mask on the bed so your not disturbed by the noise etc from downstairs. The location is also great, close to the 02 and loads of other things to do. I honestly wish I'd been staying longer and would love to return.
D.
Awesome old school pub, good selection of beers. Live Music. a good size garden as well.
d. j.
Lovely old pub with a diverse music selection and comfy beds and a great shower.
Breakfast was enough to get me through my uni interview and trip home to Wales.
Knitting group.
A. C.
Amazing atmosphere and superb wood fired pizza!
G. B.
Great location for a stay after visiting O2. However, rooms were Not en suite, stairs are quite steep, especially 3 steps leading to shared toilets, and breakfast was reduced to a large crumpet. The bedroom itself was large and roomy, but quite cold due to window being rotten with big gaps. Having said that, the bar staff were nice and friendly, and on one night we were there it was something like open Mike session which we really enjoyed. Pub itself was quite quirky which I also liked.
N. L.
One of my favourite pubs. My daughter lives nearby and we go in whenever we visit as we did this last weekend. Good food, great staff wide choice of excellent beers, many local plus my favourite Meantime Brewery beers. Also excellent music over the weekends. What's not to like?
A something for everyone Pub.
p. i.
Good. Reasonably priced food and good selection of beers. Toilets slightly below average
K. T.
Lovely and beautiful place with delicious food drinks and music i love it
p.
Great back street boozer, close, but not quite on the riverbank path. Full of character as pubs used to be and too many try to replicate. One negative from my last visit, there was no mild, but hey, I can live with that!
P. H.
Hi Paul here. The pub is comfortable and well decorated. The bar staff are quick and friendly. I hope to visit more often. And the price of beer is average. Cheers Paul
S. N.
I saw a Beatles tribute band there and they were very good. The pub was packed and prices reasonable by Greenwich standards. It's a proper neighborhood local so not many, if any, tourists. Well worth a visit.
T. C.
Great pub, enhanced when there is live music too.
V. A.
Best music I have ever listened in a pub. Seriously good. They also have a very relaxing terrace. Good staff. Last but not least, they have sweet cider kind of homemade that is delicious.
H. H.
By far the best pub in Greenwich. True local owned by honest, great people. Proper community pub. Live music, lovely staff, great food, awesome service.
P. W.
This place consists of 5 rooms and another room with a sofa and tea/snack making facilities. There are two toilets and a shower. All we well kept. It is an old building and has character. The rooms are above the pub and there is a nice garden out the back of the property. Upon arrival we had a drink in the bar and waited for our room. They guy on the bar was very friendly. We were shown to our room and there were crumpets tea coffee jams etc in a basket and some toiletries sleep mask and ear plugs on a towel. After going to the o2 we came back and slept very well. Would stay again
d. l.
Great Guinness, great band, great time
D. R.
Great pub with brilliant atmosphere
F. R.
Always so much fun. A mixed crowd but everyone is up and dancing! Really big smoking area which is great in the summer. Have to que for a bit for a drink on the weekend but you'd expect that for somewhere so popular!
F. C.
Friendly local pub with live music and good food at fairly good price. Large choice for beers, armchairs, sofas in a cool atmosphere.
The kind of popular pub you don’t want to close down.
C. H.
This place is old-school, has the best atmosphere, great usual local faces and an absolutely killer lineup of musicians. Have had some brilliant nights out here. Cute beer garden too in summer.
F. L.
Splendid local pub with a friendly crowd. Regular live music, great selection of ales and a cute beer garden. Always worth a stop in, and it's not one that will be crowded with tourists. This place is an absolute gem.
A. L.
Great spot with friendly and accommodating staff. Will definitely be back. Recommend the baby Guiness shots.
C. C.
Great pub with an open fireplace and quality live music. Last time we went on a Sunday evening they pulled out a big complimentary cheese board for the whole pub. Very pleasant atmosphere, one of my favourite pubs in London.
j. E.
Cosy place with good, friendly atmosphere. Greeted with a welcome smile as a woman entering on my own. No sense of clique often found in local pubs. The rooms upstairs are clean and tidy, well presented. All have access to tea/toast making area which is kept stocked and clean. The breakfasts are excellent and commented on by many people in the guest book. Well worth a visit!
R. T.
I love this Pub. I've lived nearby and for me it's one of the best pubs in London. Lovely atmosphere.
N. H.
A 'proper' local pub which has, thankfully, not yet been overtaken by the gastropub virus. Normally great live music when it's on. Good food. Great and changing selection of beers. Long may it last.
A. W.
Stayed with my 9yo son, for an event at the O2.
Nice pub, and nice Ale.
Very very cheap for the area. However, very noisy on a Friday/Saturday.
I would stay again, but I’d defo take ear protection
R. O.
Amazing gem of a pub in Greenwich, tucked away from the main tourist haunts but look out for great music nights. Just missed an impromptu pre-tour gig from Squeeze but caught The Joneses, an excellent Smiths tribute act that had the pub packed to the hilt. Superb atmosphere with basic but tasty pub food on offer.
F. S.
unreal boozer, first time going, garden was amazing, we were super rowdy but the staff were understanding which they didn't need to be. will frequent
k. b.
Lovely place and amazing food! Didn't expect pub food to be this good. Friendly staff and also customers seem to also be friendly. Perfect for a night out or even just a meal.
r. v.
Great pub always good beer. Friendly staff good home cooked food. Book if you want a table for Sunday lunch or pop in a little later. Beer festivals are worth a visit
r. g.
Really lovely pub - it's a bit of a walk out of central Greenwich, but not much... even by my lazy standards. Lovely interior, lots of interesting nights on, great range of ales and food was great.
Will definitely be back at a weekend - so nice to have a place outside the Greenwich tourist trap that's actually decent.
A. P.
Was only on take away due to covid lockdown but I will like to go back and try it out when the madness is over but had some lovely fresh pizza witch warmed me up as was working in the cold and some coffe if ya passing by definitely give it a try :) staff friendly too
S. H.
Fine live music and DJs at the weekend, a tremendous selection of draft ales and friendly staff.
There's no 'scene' or 'crowd', just a good mix of people enjoying themselves without pretense. It's exactly what a great pub should be.
m. s.
Good beer, lovely beer garden.
R. T.
Fantastic food, staff very polite and helpful. Room also Nice, do not let shared bathroom put you off if thinking of staying.
Live band Sat night were fantastic.
S. M.
Good food, lovely atmosphere
S. L.
I read reviews and it said it was quirky! It was like stepping into one of the wartime novels I read ! It was immaculately clean well equipped with free toiletries and a hairdryer in drawer .... I would highly recommend this hotel .... ok it was a shared bathroom but still it was very clean and suited our needs ... you got tea coffee and brioche buns with jams and marmalade in the room... we will be back pelton arms xxx
D. L.
One of the most delicious Sunday Roasts I have had in years. Also their Fish and chips and Halloumi fried in better are divine. Excellent all round for ambience, with open fires and comfy chairs. Highly recommended.
P.
Atmospheric old school boozer away from the tourist bustle. Has live music and is very popular with Greenwich locals. Friendly bar staff and management and a good atmosphere keep this popular.
Has a good food menu but that isn't the emphasis here as it tends to be with a lot of pubs in Greenwich.
p. s.
Great food great music
S. R.
One of the best pubs in Greenwich now has the best pizzas as well.
A. H.
The Pelton Arms is a genuine, down to earth, little pub that somehow seems to feel like the perfect undiscovered hipster bar. The service is friendly, the prices are reasonable, the food is good, the range of beers is good, the piped music isn't bad and the live music night was fun and high quality.
I have heard it's up for sale though, so get in soon before it gets transformed into a generic chain pub or the hipsters find it.
S. T.
Friendly enough and reasonable looking but it's laid out a bit like a corridor so you're always in someone's way, bit to bumpy bumpy for me but probably better when it's quieter. Good to see a pub with a band though so 4 stars from me 👍🏻
M. J. B.
Salem the pub cat is reason enough to visit this little gem, found in the backstreets of Greenwich. Quite a large pub, nice spacious garden. Friendly staff. The Hoegaarden was almost £5 a pint but worth paying extra for the nostalgic feel of the place.
H. D.
Rhi was amazing! For sure she deserves a pay rise and a consentual hug for being such a hard working member of staff. She made our evening!
E. F.
Amazing beers, great vibe, and now added great pizza
C. M.
Good atmosphere and drinks
D. C.
Top place to be there's always a live band at the weekend plus there always a selection of ale.plus there's also a beer garden to sit in. The pub is always busy on a weekend. If you fancy a walk down into Greenwich itself there's plenty of pubs to past .
P. S.
One of the best pubs in the area, with a good atmosphere and many brilliant music nights from good local bands it's well worth a visit. Oh, and the tap is good and varied also.

❤️ I only got a chance to have a swift pint in here on my way to the O2 but have to say I was very impressed. The pub had a lovely local feel about it and the pub itself was well kept. I must return one evening as there was loads of entertainment advertised from Jazz to Quiz nights and plenty of live music, oh and there was a bar billiards table which I haven’t played a game for years.
.
📊 Information correct on visiting 17/05/18
G. S.
A live music pub with a large selection of real ales as well as the usual guiness, lagers and cider.
Was there to listen to/hear The Moths a long standing local guitar band (lead, base, drums).
Excellent transport links for South London. Main road with bus routes and Maze Hill main line station about 10mins walk.
A great evening was had by all.
W. P.
Best pub in Greenwich bar none. 2016 CAMRA SE London pub of the year after several years of runner-up. Free live music every weekend from quality bands. Always 2 house ales and about 5 guest ales plus a cider. In addition Meantime is on tap. Jason (Jay) is the landlord and runs a very good ship. Good prices plus a CAMRA discount. Sundays roasts are legendary - booking is advised. Dart board and bar billiards too. Decent little garden with a couple of sofas for the smokers. Also has a TV in the garden for when they show certain sporting events. In general there is no TV, definitely not a football pub, which isn't a bad thing.
Try iy, you won't be disappointed.
A. J. R.
A real quaint old English pub with a few rooms upstairs. Great atmosphere and life music. Friendly staff.
d. p.
Great pub for live bands
L. B.
Friendly back street local pub, great food, great barman. Have visited twice before at lunchtime when it was quiet, this time went to see a band and the place was packed, but service still friendly and fast.
N. R.
Great traditional pub.
One of the few in the UK to have a working Bar Billiards table.
Huge Sunday lunches.
Friendly, and worth the scenic walk from Greenwich to reach
b. a.
Great pub. The atmosphere is very authentic one of the rare pub in Greenwich that hasn't been refurbished and turned into a restaurant. Highly recommend
H. O.
Definitely in my top 5 London pubs. A real treasure, great live music, friendly atmosphere, a proper pub. Love it.
t. a.
Fabulous atmosphere and great menu. Place looks absolutely amazing ♥️
A. R.
Lovely people and most hospitable however a few small things let this place down
Sharing a bathroom with five other rooms, no kettle in your room, tv signal was very poor, very creaky floorboards and to cap it all off it sounded like the quiz night host was actually in my room!
Must mention breakfast which was lovely
D. O.
Great music venue with reasonable bar prices. One or two neighbours who think you can move next to a pub and close it down. They won't succeed.
S. B.
A much less touristy alternative to the Cutty Sark pub around the corner. Fair to say that it’s a drinking pub rather than an eating pub. Nothing special about the bar inside but a really nice little outside area for the summer
D. M. S.
Excellent pizza and friendly staff.
S. B.
Great pub with excellent live music. Great atmosphere and good beer. Well worth a pint!
J. M.
Perfect atmosphere for live music! Great gem of a pub hidden slightly out of the way but worth a visit!
D. P.
Friendly nicely decorated pub. Good choice of beers and very welcoming
K. L.
Cozy local for North Greenwich pub haunters, the Pelton Arms is tucked into a side street right by the Meantime Brewery. They do carry the London Pale Ale by Meantime, and a selection of about a dozen beers of other makes round out the draught offerings.
The limited menu of pub vittles, at a slightly higher price point than usual. Two halves came to £4.20, and the seating here is as varied as it is comfortable (sofas, big plump chairs, benches, etc. There's a fireplace that looks like it would roar hot in winter.
Quiet bunches of conversation, and there are plenty of decorative knicknacks to look at.
R. B.
Great local pub, with an excellent selection of beers, and great food. Friendly atmosphere and staff as well as being reasonably priced. A proper pub.
Y. G.
Love this place. Music fantastic
Good staff not over priced on the drinks fabulous atmosphere. Always s good night
K. H.
Best pub in east London, amazing staff and friendly atmosphere. The live music is a not to miss occasion, they get in some fantastic bands
D. R.
Great pub always enjoy it here not had a Sunday dinner yet but it looks great
D. E.
Excellent local pub that are trying to get live bands back on due to the present government social distancing rules.
A. S.
The Pelton Arms is a few bus stops away from proper Greenwich – the bit with the park and the tourists – so it’s not in the prettiest of areas. But it’s free of tourists and a cosy place for a Sunday afternoon, especially if you get hold of a sofa. The Sunday dinners were a mixed bag but generally good. They have the genius option of letting you order THREE meats in your roast dinner, so you don’t have to choose between beef, lamb or chicken. Have to say a word about the roast potatoes too because they were quite amazing. Don’t bother trying to save room for dessert though. I’ve had better sticky toffee puddings in school canteens and my friend reported that her cheesecake didn’t taste of anything. If you do go for dinner then it’s worth booking in advance, if only to guarantee a table and avoid a telling off from the barmaid.
m. w.
Love this place. Proper pub vibe and great live music at weekends. Oh and free cheeseboard on Sunday night 😋
I. P.
Great local pub, good selection of well kept ales and lovely atmosphere - great bar staff too!
S. H.
The Roast Belly Pork on a Sunday afternoon is so tasty. I am told that the other roasts are too but as much as I have every intention of trying an alternative, I can't take the plunge whilst that is on the menu. Marvellous!
S. R.
I came to use the bathroom only and they let me; nice staff; can't comment on the pub in general - pub looks nice though has a good theme going
J.
Not bad place, reasonable prices, great beer garden. For gigs a bit to small place, usualy crowsed, nowhere to srand or sit. Great selection of drinks.
R. S.
Nice friendly local. Good range of beers, reasonable price. Screen for tv and live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
M. R.
Nice tucked away local, a proper pub. Covid guidelines followed properly
E. S.

Reasonable neighbourhood pub. Prices are pretty decent and it's a bit quieter than the other watering holes in and around Greenwich.
v. s.
Cozy, lively pub that has live bands all the time. Worth a visit and food is nice too
P. S.
Would love to have stayed longer but, unfortunately was on a pub crawl.
The band were excellent.
Will definitely return to do it justice.
R. K.
Good for a drink but a bit scruffy. Nice people. Would need a clean up before I would eat there
G. B.

A pretty, wood-pannelled pub with bags of character. You'll wish it was your local. Maybe it is. Well done you.
The soughdough pizzas are excellent with a good range of toppings. Beers were on the standard side with a couple of decent Beavertown's the highlight. But there's so much good stuff here the beer choice can take a backseat. Live music in the evenings completes this smashing pub and attracts a varied local crowd.
B. F.
Best pub in Greenwich if you're looking for a great "locals" pub. It has a cozy atmosphere and a covered beer garden. They have live music most nights and attract a host of good quality pub acts. They have a solid selection of beers and great Pizza's from Wandercrust (American Psycho is the best).
