S. W.Curious selection of drinks you won't find offered elsewhere means a visit to The Pensioner is always worth it to try something new. It's a single room pub with a cosy atmosphere that is obviously fairly popular with locals.
M. O.Simply put, the best pub for miles around, a Mecca for craft beer (and other beer) enthusiasts, sports lovers etc. The Sunday roast is very good and reasonably priced, and the pizzas served the others days of the week are also very tasty! Cat lovers will be thrilled by the presence of the Prince of Poplar, also known as Rocky.
D. W.A hidden gem in the heart of Poplar. Visited with a colleague on a Thursday evening and wasn’t disappointed. The establishment manages to pull off a cosy hipster gastropub vibe, yet also retains the charm of an East End boozer frequented by locals. Provides a decent range of craft beers on draught and additionally offers a comprehensive range of canned craft beers. Service is great, with servers happy to recommend choices. There is also a pub cat, for you animal lovers out there, called Rocky.

Think Ill be going back soon. A tad expensive but food was great.

A. R.I found this place after moving to Blackwall recently. And I love the place. Great beers which change regularly (and a fab, generous Happy Hour Mon to Fri), great pizzas, epic Sunday lunch and just a really friendly vibe. Worth a trip for a pint, a pizza, some wings or a Sunday roast!
A. M.Have been going here a fair bit over the last few months, its not a coincidence that I keep going back. Really nice spot, break away from the usual canary wharf spots near my office. Quieter, more relaxing feel. I have been here and seen some great live music too. Great selection of beers, pizzas are great and the sunday roast really hit the spot.

N. W.What a delightful find. I was looking for a place to meet an ex-colleague for a beer and ended up here for 3 hours! Lovely, quaint old pub (replete with resident black cat).
Great, friendly service, excellent pizza (only £1.50 extra for a GF base) and a fantastic range of beers. There's a pretty basic, little beer garden at the back and some picnic tables outside at the front.
Really enjoyed my time here (Tues evening) and will certainly look to visit again if I'm in the area.
p. b.Really good spaciousness clean pub with a comfortable non pretentious and friendly atmosphere. The pizzas are really good and has a good range of beers and wines available. A real find as its a little bit hidden away. I am glad I’m not a local because I’d end up spending way too much time in this place.
M. O.Really top spot tucked away in Poplar in a quiet back street. Worth the journey for their 4-6pm 25% off happy hour. Excellent selection of beers (craft beer and ordinary lagers on offer on keg). Friendly service, good music including live music twice a week. Must visit!

Y. A.Great pub since it was taken over a few months ago. Beautifully refurbished to compliment the lovely Victorian building. Amazing selection of beer on draught and in the fridge with six lines of rotating craft beer and two craft lagers. Food is also excellent with Italian style pizzas.
L. O.A craft beer oasis that you'd never expect to find here. Pub cat = bonus points. Pizza and wings on the menu - the 'nice n spicy' is a winner. Friendly staff and crowd. Definitely check it out if you're nearby.

Beautiful place with a very calming atmosphere. Perfect for watching sports or just to go and unwind. Owner and staff are genuinely caring and adhere to the customer needs and requests. Very welcoming.
A hidden gem. Food is amazing and drink prices are very fair. Would recommend to anybody in the area or anybody travelling, to get an understanding of the true London welcome.
J. B.What great selection of well kept crafted ales. Selection of six ales but varied and good quality. The lager selection followed the same pattern. A good selection of quality brews. Friendly place with decent music. An easy place to spend a couple of hours expanding your beer palette. Highly enjoyed myself.
L.Chef was off on the day we went in but we was able to order food in which was great. Barmaid was great and very welcoming, great service, proper estate boozer
