Reviews of The Phoenix, Chelsea
D. T.
The Phoenix on Smith street in Chelsea is above all comfortable. A very well turned out take on the traditional British pub. The beer was good and cold. Also, a couple of cask ales available for those that do. There is a small but well chosen menu if you are hungry, don't miss the specials on the blackboard. This is a really pleasant place to have a drink in the company of the friendly efficient staff.
I. T.
Staff was really friendly. We all had Sunday roast. It was a good Sunday roast. Desserts were great
D. A.
Had a lovely Sunday roast at The Phoenix yesterday. Very cosy pub in the heart of Chelsea. Despite it being very busy the staff were friendly and food was very good. I ordered the veggie roast and a pudding, both delicious. Oh and so many lovely dogs allowed which was the icing on the cake! Plus great music, none of today’s Spotify rubbish
S.
Good service and friendly staff in a cozy pub.
Roast isn't bad, but was definitely hoping for better. Pork belly was fairly dry, and the skinny fries were undercooked.
D. W.
Very friendly pub, was lovely to sit outside and enjoy a delicious Sunday Roast. Was on the expensive level for a pub but quality food and service.
S. K.
The Phoenix offers everything you'd expect from an excellent local pub. Great food, decent wine list, quiz night and an outside area which is a great place to soak up the sun...if you are lucky enough to find a table on a fine day. The staff are super friendly too! We often stop by after a visit to the Kings Road.
M. D.
Really welcoming pub with a good (vegetarian) Sunday roast dinner. Staff were very helpful when we hadn't booked. We only had to wait a few minutes for a table to be free.
V. D.
Delicious Sunday roast - we had the chicken and veggie roast which was an absolutely divine mushroom and spinach Wellington. All arrived at perfect temperature, all trimmings very nicely done (especially celery purée) and staff very friendly and efficient as always! Highly recommend
C. H.
Oysters worth a try. Very fresh, flavorful and quite tasty. A bit on the salty side.
Fish pie and pork belly were super decent & filling.
Overall a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟experience that I’d love to revisit again with friends! :) Loved the staffs too!
B. B.
Incredible food; fresh and delicious with a great variety of options. The team are approachable, efficient and make dining a pleasant experience. Dog friendly, they even have dog treats by the front door and will bring your dog a bowl of water.
When they get outdoor space heaters for the outside area then it'll be a flawless 5 stars...until then it's a solid 4 star.
J. C.
Randomly called in after visiting Saatchi Gallery. Staff were fantastic in finding us a table even though it was busy time. Great table service - attentive staff. Food and drinks all good.

We were there a week ago when we were in Chelsea. My partner wanted a roast, I was a wee tired to get out of Chelsea and decided to give this place a try.
Nice decor with leather fauteuils when you step in, al fresco dining around the restaurant. The ambiance is pleasant, bright, airy feeling.
There was no one to greet us except a lady behind the bar who was busy clearing. She saw us, but ignored us and continued to remove the empty glasses behind the bar counter. I approached her, greeted her, she ignored me. There was a lot of clanking and slamming obviously unhappy about something.
A waitress came towards us, found us a table and seated us. Though there were other empty tables without the "Reserved" signs, we were seated beside the WC. I would not recommend this table as the traffic could get quite busy at peak hours.
My partner ordered his beer and his roast. I wasn't particularly hungry and wanted a snack. The problem was most of the dishes or snacks contained lactose. The waitress recommended the hummus which was good, and grilled asparagus, which was grilled to my liking. The roast according to my partner was OK...the braised beef cheek was good but there was only a spoonful, the steak cut was something we have not seen in France, he thought it was a tongue in the beginning and was apprehensive about it. But it tasted ok according to him. It came with roast potatoes abd some vegetables.
Overall the waitress who waited on our table was pleasant and kind despite being busy. The decor was nice, the food was OK, I wished they had a wider choice for lactose free snacks or starters. I would rate this place 3.5 but Google doesn't have the half star function.
S. S.
I have been there twice with my girlfriend's and we absolutely love it. The bar snacks are really good and service by Yamima was outstanding. We will be going back for sure.
A. P.
Absolutely fabulous. Excellent staff and delicious food. Can't wait for the next time when in the area.
P. W.
Lovely cosy chilled out pub that I always choose when visiting the area as it’s not as snooty as everywhere else tends to lean - I’d never had food here before though and we were blown away, it was delicious and the portions really good! Great fish and chips, great fish pie (didn’t quite understand the poached egg on top but I ate it anyway)... deliciously crisp sweet potato fries and mouth watering pudding. Staff helpful and nice too!
K. S.
Lovely pub! The Sunday roast was great and the prices weren't too scary for being this close to the King's Road
J. W.
Wish this was my local...a perfect small pub of its type. Warm, welcoming, nice music, good buzz of conversation and laughter. Well made meals, not just pub grub. Nothing flash or spectacular, just comfortable.
J. G.
A charming gastropub with a lounge, a bar and a dinning room. Friendly service. Warm atmosphere. Food served at all times. Definitely a nice place to discover.
M. W.
Delicious food! The atmosphere is ideal to have a conversation!! Reasonable prices for London standards
S. R.
Cozy pub in quiet area Chelsea. The food quality was ok. The way they cooked the broccoli was too soggy but taste good. I would recommend to try their seafood risotto.
R. S.
Very nice neighborhood pub! Friendly staff, great food and beer selection plus a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
N. G.
That’s the best pub in Chelsea. Amazing staff , friendly and always ready to help. The food delicious and great collection of wines. Thank you
J. S.
Been here 20+ times over last decade, never had a bad meal. As many noted Sunday roast is good stuff.
F. P.
Superb food. Reservations required, I had the roast and my partner ordered Vegan option (aubergine). Food was excellent. Service was just OK, maybe they were just busy. We will be back for more.
H. R.
Sunday roast is rubbish. Belly pork was dry. Not even sure how you do that! Plus no crackling. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding also not good. All very obviously not cooked to order. Gravy was v thin and watery. For what is otherwise a nice pub, really disappointing. Bottom line, don't order the Sunday roast...
V.
Cozy pub, great atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
But the push for us to order a “substantial” meal of a £20 charcuterie / cheese board that was mostly bread was a let down.
T. r.
I’ve loved this pub for years. The wine was very nice but the service was very surly and the food was lacklustre. We asked to be put on the Xmas menu but got refused. Oh and by the way who on earth serves cheese on a paper napkin?
N. S.
Everything is perfect but if my hubby insists on smoking, then I must insist you get heaters for the outside area. Brrrrr it's cold and grim without them. £39.99 from amazon. IPX65 waterproof rated . C'mon Phoenix, it's not a big expense. Just 1 or 2. Mount it to the wall. Sorted.
A.
All very nice. Haven't been on an evening but the clientele can be quite snobby. Staff are lovely though
J. B.
🐟 Really good fish & chips with efficient service. Buzzy atmosphere and they were showing the Six Nations.
R. M.
Great pub. Fabulous staff. But they were too sober.
e.
Your standard British pub. Prices were good for being so central, nice location too just off the main road which helps in keeping things quiet if you wanna sit outside.
Chips were good too which is always a key point. Didn't try any food.
Beer selection was pretty average tho.
A. C.
This is a gorgeous pub but the staff are so terribly rude. I was a little taken aback at how I was spoken to but then it just became embarrassing to watch and hear how others were being treated - eye rolling, the works. This really lets the place down as the pub itself is gorgeous, the location fabulous and food looked incred but we decided to leave after one drink.
C.
Amazing food and atmosphere!!! I had the phoenix burger while my friends had fish and chips. Classic pub food done right :) Lovely joint for Chelsea locals!
W. F.
Great traditional local pub, very cosy. I like how they have agreat selection of foods, the fish and chips were lovely and drinks were great, they're fairly priced too. The service, I must say, was superb! The staff welcomed customers with delight, very nice. I'll definitely come back here again. Highly recommend!
S. K.
Beautiful venue, tasty food and attentive staff!
A. L.
Visited for Sunday lunch with friends who live nearby. The roast dinner here is absolutely perfect. Lovely setting friendly attentive staff and excellent bar.
G. S.
Lunch with friends, pleasant food, good pub atmosphere.
S.
Lovely relaxed local pub just offset from the main road. Plenty of seating. Friendly staff. Good selection of wines by the glass. Great selection of fish options on the food menu, which I personally love!
Had the red snapper wrapped in puff pastry, with courgettes and mushrooms and sweet potato puree - was great and it didn't need the puff pastry.
Lots of small grazing dishes too if you just want a snack with your drinks.
S. P.
Fantastic staff who handled our family lunch for my dad’s birthday so beautifully today. We were slow and disorganised and all the usual group meal ‘stuff’ and they just carried on smiling and serving excellent burger after burger! Can’t thank them enough.
L. H.
A lovely pub but a very rude members of staff who were very pushy asking ask to move to unblock walkways in the back of the resturaunt. Also a very rude and abrupt member of staff who was in a hurry at 10 minutes before close without giving much warning
R. S.
Nice fish pie 🐟🥧
Pork belly with clam chowder was delicious 👌
Was concerned oysters would not be up to standards, however , was pleasantly surprised 🤩
Large portions , decent price and friendly staff 🙌
Willing to take a photo of our company even during their lunch meals. Top quality service 🌟
S. D.
Great lunch, can definitely recommend the lamb shawarma. Service spot on, water bowl for the dog always a nice touch and nice atmosphere
j. A.
A great pub to sit outside during the summer. The beer is well kept and the food is top notch too. Bar staff could be a little more on the ball, but they're very friendly and nice to be around. The dining area could be opened up to drinkers at the end of the night too, but overall, this is a really nice spot for a drink. Great decor as well. Highly recommend.
S. B.
Marie Anna was a great hostess and food was lovely. Great service. Lovely atmosphere. Would definitely come again
C. S.
Haggis and scotch egg was an intriguing menu item
H. T.
Time to get away from those overcrowded venues in Chelsea. This quiet local Chelsea pub with a relaxed setting has a good selection of drinks and some of the freshest and best pub food I've had in a while. The fish and chips was so delightfully fresh and sweet it's better than most chippys!
There is also an awesome pub quiz every Sunday night at 7pm!
S. C.
Excellent fish and chips, good service, very pleasant venue, more like a restaurant than a pub
W. E.
A great place to come to for something to eat. There is lots to choose from and the menu has something for everyone. I opted for the sirloin steak which was cooked just how I liked it. The triple cooked chips were so crispy and delicious too. Faultless food and service!
K. E.
This pub has become one of our absolute favourites in the area. The staff are welcoming, the decor is lovely, with a bit of outdoor seating in summer and a cosy fire in the restaurant section during winter it is great in all seasons. Not to mention a wonderful menu which doesn’t disappoint! Highly recommend
G. T.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, great place for a night out...
C. S.
No Youngs special. Then they ran out of ordinary so had to drink proper job which should not happen to anyone.
S. D.
Good Service, Nice Decor and Really Good food. My friends had a Sunday roast that was tasty and filling (the portions are big!!) and I took a sea bass dish with a divine artichoke purée (the only downside is that there wasn't enough of it). Highly recommended. We'll definitely come back!
K. D.
Great place for drinks with plenty of tasty options if you get hungry, reasonable priced bottles of champagne :)
G. A.
Visited the Phoenix for the first time on Friday, 27th September for lunch accompanied by my wife and step father whose a Chelsea Pensioner. First impressions were good, nice clean fresh decor and friendly, attentive staff.
The meal was excellent well presented and good value for money.
We are served by Marvin who was very professional and attentive.
The Phoenix was an excellent choice and I'll definitely be back.
Z. G.
Definitely more of a hip pub in lieu of a traditional one, but cozy all the same. Friendly faces all around, helpful/knowledgeable staff, wide variety of all types of drinks (my wife's a cider connoisseur), and a delightfully complex and intriguing menu. Wife ate the mac and cheese and said it was to die for. I had the pork belly and felt much the same way; perhaps the best I've ever had. Price was a bit high, but the portions were generous so I can't complain on the value.
All in all, a memorable experience.
J. G.
Came with the girlfriend for some evening drinks. We Saw the menu and had to come back for lunch the next day. The food was sublime. The service friendly and inviting. If you're looking for a good gastronomic public house I heartily recommend.
R. L.
We had a lovely family lunch here today! Great food, friendly staff and atmosphere and location - just off the Kings Road.
We arrived at 2pm with no reservation and had a table within 20 mins in the corner. Lovely decor, really light and modern, we had a table against a sofa in the corner. The atmosphere was great, if not a little loud with the stag lunch happening in the corner but we didn't mind. The menu looked great and it was a bit of a shame that they'd run out of two key items by the time we'd got there (the burger and the pie of the day), but that's okay, there was plenty to choose from and I was really happy with my main. I had a pork loin with mushrooms, black pudding and broccoli with a rhubarb purée. Lots of flavours, and not what I'd have put together but so delicious! We shared three puddings between the four of us after our mains as well - the gingerbread ice cream was really yummy as was the prune and brandy tart. I'll have to go back again soon, I'd really recommend it.
A. P.
Amazing pub with amazing waiters like Louis! Every time we are coming they try to do the best for us to spend a good time. On top of being a beautiful and cozy place, the team is really efficient and nice!
M. L.
I love this pub. Situated in the heart of Chelsea, it is a go to place to have a drink and some great pub food. It has so much charm and character. The staff are super nice and attentive, always very helpful. A wonderful place for weekend lunches in the summer and drinks in the winter months.
A. V.
I always love coming to this place! Very welcoming pub with a broad range of choices. The service was very efficient and Beatriz was friendly. I recommend
A. A.
Great bar snacks and a very knowledgeable barman who took our orders from the table.
K. B.
Just finished our meal at the Phoenix and I must say that it was an absolutely amazing experience. We came in without a booking at a busy time and we were accomodated qucikly by a very hospitable young manager who look after us all the time while keeping an eye on whole venue at the same time.
Rest of the staff also very friendly and hard - working. Cozy amtosphere and music.
Game pie was absolutely delicous and other meals as well, we left all the plates clean!
A bit pricey but it's Chelsea. Will visit next time we'ere in London.
A. L.
Lovely atmosphere and excellent, friendly service, not forgetting the great food. Had a really good evening with family, we all enjoyed our meals and will definitely return.
G. B.
Had dinner last night at the Phoenix before going to Lunar Cinema. Service was fantastic, food was amazing and reasonably priced! Couldn’t recommend more! We will be back.
B. J.
Good pub, nice environment and extensive drink selection. Staff a little rushed.
A. G. B.
Reasonable little pub, with limited, but sufficient beer range. Lots of wine options. Good place for people watching and taking a break from the Kings Road. Close to the river if you want to take a walk before or after. Food menu looks good though I didn't try anything.
D. N.
Quite large pub on corner. Bar at front, restaurant at back. Young's and Doom were on handpumps, on a quiet Wed lunchtime. Interior is nicely done, staff very good. Lunch was simple, and good. It's never going to be cheap here in Chelsea, and it wasn't.
T. B.
Popped in on the way to "Collect", The International Art Fair for Contemporary Objects at Saatchi Gallery. Very impressed, with the Phoenix, beer was well kept, wine list was long and the Sunday roast beef was excellent. Service was terrific, fast smooth and professional. Well done the Phoenix.
I. Y.
Local pub with food - friendly staff
M.
Great place for a drink or food. Dark and cosy little gastropub tucked away down a side street. Nice wine selection, but the toilets could use a regular inspection schedule from staff as they were a bit of a mess, particularly for late afternoon
K. M.
Nice gastro pub. Friendly and good service, nice deco and very well looked after. Food was good, especially the starters we ordered. Mains are a little more pricey. Makes a Nice break from the Kings Road.
K. E.
Cosy pub down a quiet residential street, the drink selection was vast. Haven't tried the food but from what I saw it looked good. Seems they have fresh fish on offer as well.
M. R. G.
Very nice place! Nice coffee
M. R.
Really nice, cosy and we loved the burgers
S. T.
A great place to come to for something to eat.
F. W.
British food
Beautifully decorated
D. G.
Slow with service - we had to always get up to grab the servers attention and ask specifically to get our plates taken off the table. They messed up the order too - I am blaming it on understaffing. The food was ok but nothing special. Location is good and free off street parking on Sundays.
J. M.
Absolutely love this restaurant - inviting warm and charming place. Good service by staff - excellent food and a lovely evening will definitely be returning. Thank you
G. R.
Phoenix is a good cosy English pub. We had a group dinner there which was well organised and service was great. The menu left a bit to be desired- but that may just be personal preference.
M. D.
Visited her after visiting Five Fields - lovely little boozer, full of character.
The taps weren't particularly inspiring, but they had a great selection of bottled beers.
P. H.
Gastropub with reasonable food. Wine menu had limited availability, they went to the basement to bring up extra and tried holding it under the steamer from the coffee machine to heat it up (not the way to treat a 60£ bottle of wine!)
M. B.
Good atmosphere Good food good service
Y. P.
Lovely place, very cosy. Food food, drinks. Very popular as well, ensure to book your table upfront, especially on quizz night!
A. I.
Lovely pub just off King's Road with a good choice of food. Outside seating available as well
J. K.
It was a busy day with the royal wedding. Waitstaff seemed short handed, tired, and a bit short tempered by mid afternoon when we arrived. Food was good.
J. B.
Went here after not getting any food at The surprise. Tasty beef roast and good beer. Staff very good.
N. D.
Wonderful relaxed pub with dining area, great beer selection and menu that covers all the favourites and gives chance to try new things.

Great food, atmosphere and service. The pub itself is iffy the main street and is very cosy , dog friendly and great for after work or lunch time.

This bar is just of the Kings Road. I can see why the locals use this place great choice of Beer and the food was more restaurant quality in its taste and presentation than pub
J. P.
Good bar atmosphere, comfy seating and great food. Perfect outdoor seating for the summer months too

(Translated) Nice pub-restaurant, good atmosphere. The service is slow and the portions are a little tight but excellent quality and Louis is very helpful. Only 3 stars because the kitchen got the wrong dessert and another came to us, before being replaced by the correct one. The addition is correct.

Pub-resto sympa, bonne ambiance. Le service est lent et les portions sont un peu justes mais excellente qualité et Louis est très serviable. Seulement 3 étoiles car la cuisine s'est trompée de dessert et un autre nous est parvenu, avant d'être remplacé par le bon. L'addition est juste.
