Reviews of The Pride of Spitalfields London
G. W.
Enjoyed my visit thoroughly. Great old fashioned boozer with a fantastic atmosphere. Really busy on a Friday but don’t start playing the piano once you’ve had a few because you start to feel like stevie wonder as the staff might get the huff 😂
J. L.
A lovely local pub with a brilliant team of staff and probably the best atmosphere in the area. While the pub is small it’s cosy and bustling. An easy place to meet friendly likeminded people and everyone is really friendly. The bar offers a good selection of drinks at a really reasonable price. While the outdoor space isn’t covered it’s still enjoyable. Just maybe bring a brolly and save yourself from the English weather.
P. S.
Always an intriguing place. On the night I visited, we were next to a group from a newly formed political party and across the pub (10 paces?!) an ersatz Chas & Dave belted out tunes on the piano. Enthusiasm and volume made up for the lack of other things.
Brewers Gold, London Pride, a Truman’s beer plus one other were on draft when I visited. Very tasty “Tayto” crisps from Ulster.
Always friendly service. Proper pub. Not mucked about with. Packed on a Monday night. Genuine people. Sometimes this pub get a bunch of (bemused!) tourists. That’s unfortunate. Happily doesn’t happen all the time.
J.
Ruddy love this pub. Want to tell everyone who hasn't been to go there, but also keep it for myself. Lovely staff. Great pints. Space for a lean outside. Ticks all the boxes.
C. H.
Great local pub. Warm and cosy. Good selection of beers. A boozers boozer.
G. O. S.
The best and only pub worth going to in Shoreditch area. Good ales, well kept, great atmosphere, simple fare to eat at midweek lunch if you’re quick and early, a proper London boozer.
J. M.
Classic East End good ol' drinking hole. Friendly n Fun!! A walk away from Indian Restaurants and the heart of diverse Brick Lane. For everyone n anyone. Best mix of local n everyone else! All welcome here ...Great atmosphere, honest prices. Top o' my list always! Don't expect a table but though busy you'll get served quickly 😉🍻Try Butler's Pride. Ask for the story and who the lady is????
A. K.
One of the best, most unpretentious, and friendly pubs in east London. A true old school gem serving incredible Brewers Gold. Love it there.
R. B.
Great pub, first visit but really loved it, just like pub's were like years ago friendly and wonderful people and service 😀
S. P.
Great cosy pub, with a wide selection of drinks, and special mention goes to the landlady who was really down to earth, she made sure my friend was going to get home safe when she was too drunk. Such a breather from pub bouncers that might just turf you out without a second thought! Made me feel really safe here and I'd definitely come again.
C. C.
A great affordable and cozy pub in Whitechapel/Brick Lane. It's got a good vibe, welcoming staff and cheap pints. Much better than most of the other 'trendy' boozers around this area.
S. K.
This was a wee gem of a pub in brick Lane with friendly staff(barmaid) and locals. Really enjoyed their cider but they had a great selection of drinks. This will be my go to pub in brick lane without question in future visits. A real east end pub experience. Thank You The Pride of Spitalfields I wish I could relocate you to my own village.
L. K.
That's one hell of a pub. Decent selection of drinks, carpet on the floor and a friendly atmosphere. Well done 🤙
F. B.
Classic old school pub that's cosy and traditional. Only issue is that the way the seats were laid out it was a bit tricky to sit apart from other guests. Would definitely go back as it's just what you're after for an old school boozer
S. P.
One of the last remaining great boozers in East London. You don't go here for craft beer, go here for the vibe. It's perfect as is, never change.
A. E.
Went here due to historical connection to the kray twins mother. Lovely little boozer tucked away down a side street off brick lane. Good prices and a nice atmosphere.
M. M.
Old skool pub... cheap beer, regulars and a generally fun atmosphere. Great part of London too.
a. f.
We stumbled across The Pride of Spitalfields pub, which is located near Brick lane (? Curry lane), as the mid-September 2021 heat warranted a beer.
Local pub, local vibes.
Good features: Various picture frames adorned on the walls make good decor.
Unopened bottles of beer just below the ceiling was an interesting art work.
Locals - young and old seemed to love their beer and banter.
Warm hospitality.
Hmm aspects: Sticky tables, guess it comes with the local bar feel.
The loo was basic. One can assume hygiene comes second or lower down the order when one is high.
I believe locals will keep visiting this bar for their daily dose of Vitamin B-eer
V. M.
Very lovely and cosy place to drink some beer.
M. B.
Great local pub hidden away just off Brick Lane. Lovely barstaff and great old school style pub harking back to the old days before everywhere put in wooden floors. Good selection of beers and a real local gem.
J. C. (. a. J.
Very good pub on a quiet cobbled street just off Brick Lane. 5 cask beers on tap when I visited. Standing room on the pavement outside with umbrellas for cover.
M. L.
Fabulous local pub. Really nice atmosphere and great staff. Try it you will love it.
M. E.
Traditional pub, very much old man pub style with efficient, friendly staff, guiness that tastes okay and a nice find in Brick Lane.
P. L. R.
Great traditional local pub. Well priced drinks and an enjoyable atmosphere for early drinking.
G. W.
What a lovely little pub, tucked away up a side street off Brick Lane, The lady serving made us so welcome, we will definitely call in again when in London. Thank you
E. E.
Great little pub. Feels like a local, I wish it was my local. Good vibes, great staff. It's all you can ask for from a pub. Check it out if you're ever in the area.
d. k.
What an amazing place.. one of the one remaining few proper London boozers.. the bar lady Jane is so welcoming .. cant recommend this place enough 🥰😍
A. S.
Good old East End pub serving a selection of good real ales. Well worth a visit when in the area.
C. D.
Easily one of the best pubs in East London. Great pints, great tunes and amazing staff! AND TAYTOS

❤️ There are many reasons to visit Brick Lane and the surrounding area, whether it be curry, history or street art but a trip to The Pride of Spitalfields is well worth putting on your itinerary. The pub is just off Brick Lane but blink and you’ll miss it as it is located on a narrow cobbled side street. This East End boozer is compact and cosy and full of character and the decor hasn’t moved with the times which for me is all part of the pubs charm. The service was great and the woman behind the bar was very welcoming while she was holding court with some of the regulars who were sat at the bar.
.
So if you fancy getting away from the more hip and modern establishments in the area and want the old school pub experience, get yourself to The Pride of Spitalfields.

It is a small pub on a side street off brick lane. It is as British as they come with a full range of British brands, lathers, porters, gins, the full range for a hot day as today. It has a smoking section by the front entrance and they quite happily take drink orders and go find you with the drink and take your money. It's pretty awesome. I really enjoy it as it is off the main brick lane and it attracts quite a few interesting characters. With the young crowd as well. Well worth going to for a cold adult beverage. If you found it helpful please click like thank you so much.
s.
One of the finest establishments in all of the land. Cheapest pint of Guinness I’ve seen this close to central as well
S. E.
Good local. Good people. Back street and away from the crowds. It's cramped but you make friends that way. Top points for the pub cat 😍🙀 EDIT: also.... has a proper traditional pub sandwich bar named after the owners mother who used to run it. I just love this place.
T. M. G.
Proper old pub. Not overpriced. Friendly staff and customers. A cosy pub.
M. C.
Great proper pub!! Really good Guinness and service with a smile. We hadn't been for ages and it was lovely to be remembered. We hope to be back again soon. Thanks
P. S.
My favourite London pub (with The Harp). Great beer, especially Brewers Gold. First pub I experienced a lock in, way back. Friendly and no nonsense.
W. D.
An excellent pub, well run, getting popular of course but there you have it. Beer is decent except they do supply Doom Bar. You can avoid it though. When I was in I had the fine Captain Lockwood, curiously he came into the pub just after I started supping. Now you wouldn't want any Doom character coming in would you? The Captain obviously had some taste as he too supped on his eponymous beer.
A. C.
As always a lively convivial atmosphere drinking well kept beer.
D. C.
Loved this pub! On a nice summer evening you can stand outside in a quiet street with no traffic and prices are more than fair! Nice owners and selection of beer was good. Will definitely visit again!
D. M.
One of my favourite pubs in London. Always a warm welcome and great beer on tap.
G. D. M.
Nice beers, cheap place and mostly, staff is super friendly!! Also open till late!!!
K.
One of my favourite pubs ever. It feels like a time capsule from the past, but nobody judges, everyone is welcome - it's incredible.
g. b.
Always love to come here on my trips to London. Its such a friendly and comfortable place. Highly recommended.
D. J.
Traditional cosy, pub great beers
S. C.
Brilliant pub. The people that run this pub are amongst the friendliest I've ever met. Not only that, the prices are more than reasonable. Should you visit London and not swing by this hidden gem, you will have missed an authentic British pub experience.
A. A.
How couldn't you give this place 5 stars? It's a proper boozer with well-priced beers, great staff and great locals!
W. F.
Great atmosphere, cheap beers, authentic proper boozer in the east end.. a gem of a place.
J. B.
Proper east end boozer, cheap beers, welcoming staff, fantastic atmosphere
B. T.
Lovely pub it's like stepping back in time
J. T.
My favourite pub in London. It’s just a normal pub, no gimmicks, inexpensive, decent beer, good staff, clean, well run and a nice place to hang out, away from the hipsters round the corner. Sanctuary.
N. B.
Super friendly local pub with affordable drinks.
B. L.
Perfect East end pub tucked just off Brick Lane. Very friendly and welcoming staff and excellent value beer - well worth seeking out for a good quality and value pint or two.
J. H.
A proper proper PUB. There are precious few of these left, please never change it!
J. A.
Nice old-school pub, ideally situated for a drink before - and after - a curry on Brick Lane.
S. J.
Great priced beer, and a good atmosphere for for an old bar.
P. F. H.
Nice clean pub jus off brick lane good pint great service and good bar staff
and friendly customers it like being at home in my native
country Ireland
P. F.
Great vibes for those who love a more traditional relaxed friendly London pub. A decent choice of ales and beers on tap, interesting stuff in the fridge. The staff easily approachable and seem happy to answer questions with good humour and patience
For those sad nicotine heads like myself. There are are facilities at the front including a handy shelf or two to rest ones drink on.
Located just off Brick Lane it is a wonderful Watering Hole.
R. G.
An awesome local pub, i'll definitely come back here again. They have a good selection of beers and the bar food was great. We had a great time here! Highly recommend this place
D. H.
A real East End pub with local regulars. Always a good selection of guest beers that are well looked after and the staff are knowledgeable about the beers or will let you taste one. They serve normal pub food and snacks.
The staff are lovely, the service is good and if you want a real East End pub experience you should visit this pub. The photos on the wall of the area 100 years ago are really interesting.
The Pride also has a big screen and often shows big sports events
M. R.
Awesome old school boozer with the cheapest pints in the area
P. A.
They have a pub cat... has to be 5 stars! A throw-back boozer with friendly service and a standing group of regulars. Decent beer selection. The decor reminds you of the typical pubs of the 70s and is fabulous.
P. W.
Proper local pub. A rarety in London. No frills. Decent music. Sound staff.
C. D.
Proper booze hidden away of the beaten track - good beer good company - gets busy so worth visiting at off peak times - impressive pub cat
P. M.
Great friendly old fashioned boozer.
j. y.
Get yourself in here for a truly remarkable east London night. A tremendous atmosphere, bar staff are welcoming and friendly and maybe just maybe someone will be playing the old Joanna (piano) with some locals singing. To rare but I’ve seen it.
Standard selection of beers on the bar but it the location and people that make this bar when it is. Easily missed down a small street off brick lane so hardly a tourist in site. I never pass by without dropping in.
s. c.
It's been many years since I have visited this real east end pub. A friendly welcome just how pubs used to be.
R. P.
The hidden gem of Shoreditch. Mixture of locals and tourists. A very welcoming pub with a cat!
A very friendly atmosphere!
M. E.
I like this place.
It is just off of Brick Lane and a short walk from the City. However it has the homely feel of a local pub which could be in any village in the country. That said, our visits are punctuated by the many "Jack the Ripper" tours that use this place as a stop-off.
Having said that, the beer is good and the food too. It is good value, especially as it is so close to the over-priced City pubs.
I would recommend this place if you are in the area.
P. D.
Small pub but with a good choice of draft beer. Good prices and a pub you can have a chat.
M. P.
Really nice pub!
Just a tad warm inside in summer, but you can just take your drink outside no problem.
My look busy from outside but getting a drink quickly is no problem.
Really fast service, good prices, big selection and nice baarkeepers. Didn't meet the cat thou....
U. v.
Smashing place, very small inside but room out front and a lovely atmosphere.
G. M.
Made to feel very welcome. Good selection of beers.
A. R.
Meh kinda place. Nothing special, typical British bar. Had gin& tonic, wasnt amazing, home made version style.
Looked clean, the staff was polite and attentive but could look more professional rather than like after watching Netflix for 5 hrs.
There are better places around to be honest.
A. M.
Stop here for a quick pint before a meal. Nice and friendly old style little pub, with a friendly cat too.
a. c.
Very friendly, good range of ales and tucked away so far from the bustle.
J. A.
We end up at this lovely pub once every so often. It delivers every time. A mix of friendly people and great atmosphere. It's one of those places where you just end up chatting with strangers. Sometimes you find somebody playing the piano even.
A. W.
The highest calibre of boozer- decently priced and well kept ale, classic pub decor, great tunes, friendly bar stuff, and overall jolly vibes. One of my favourites in London.
I. F.
A true gem of a pub.I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The home cooked food at lunchtime is fantastic, compliments to the 2 sister's... Lovely ladies as are all the bar staff. The only proper pub in Brick Lane.Well worth a visit.
C. V.
Fantastic. The epitome of what a 'proper' east end pub should be; decent, warm landlords; great well-kept beer ( recommend the London Pride) and varied and interesting clientele. Many positive experiences when visiting this place. Highly recommend.
D. P.
Proper eastend boozer, lovely atmosphere, top staff and felt just like home, kudos to the whole set up ❤️
S. K.
Nice atmosphere, good ales and the cat! Great place, for sure. They've got few beers to offer as well as strong alcohol. The place is not too crowded but it is loud enough to create pub feeling
Watching football there might be a bit problematic: the wall that is used to project matches is not the best screen.
L. D.
A wonderful find. A tiny authentic pub in East London
C. F.
Cosy and super friendly staff !! Also, cheap pints in an awesome neighbourhood !
D. B.
A terrific 'local' pub... very rare these days. Good basic food, well prepared and presented. A good range of drinks. Extremely friendly staff. The resident cat, Lenny,
was asleep for the duration on my most recent visit, but he's friendly also. All very good value for money. In other words... a proper pub. Don't miss it.
P. N.
Amazing place! Friendly staff and cleanness. Will go there again and recommend to all who are going on a day out.
J. G.
Every time I come to London we visit this pub as it's a great local with exceptional ales and food.
M. H.
Always love this pub and have drunk in here since my Uni days year's ago. However, was not happy with the attitude of the woman when I took my flat beer back to the bar. We had to pay for another beer rather than it being replaced. Hope that this does not become a habit!
p.
Nice little boozer in Spitalfields (obvs), serving nice selection of beers. Only stayed for one, but customer service was good, and loads of locals seemed to be present to enjoy the beer and the food being served. Nice atmosphere and loads of interesting pictures all over the walls.
r. b.
Traditional pub tucked away off brick lane that's gets quite crowded on a weekend. It has a quite a dull selection of beers but they're well kept. They show some football games on a small TV too. It has a certain charm to it but if you want a seat go on a week night.
B. O.
Only stopped for a pint - didn't know they did meals. I couldn't recall any menus on display nor anyone eating. They didn't seem to offer wifi, but thankfully they took plastic.
Pretty packed outside, so expect to fight your way through a smoking congregation outside the front. There's not that many seats inside, so don't be surprised to find you're sharing a table or it's standing room only.
Nice pub cat, also.
Okay beer, but didn't feel like I could really relax here.
L. J. W.
Great little pub, met some cool people and the ladies were looking fine.. reminded me of an old skool pub.. proper place, staff were friendly and beer was nice. Heaving early but found a bit of space later on till closing time.. loved it
D. B.
Not many local pubs like this any more. Very cosy, and has a resident cat!
J. C.
Consistently good London Pride....... A proper pub.
C. P.
I didnt actually want to give this place a high rating just so I can limit the number of other people going there! A hidden gem just off brick Lane! Fish finger sandwich and half portion of ships for less than £4! Can't go wrong! Decent pint of Guinness too!
J. D.
The best proper pub in London 🍺
D. J.
Good prices for the area, Stella is only £4. Staff are nice and they have a friendly cat called Lenny. There is a guy who plays the piano and people usually sing along. Great place, I’ll be coming back!
D. R.
Proper local boozer, no airs or graces. Unlike the rest of the pubs in this area it really hasn't changed at all in the 30 years since I first went there.
Great atmosphere, very good real ale, reasonable prices.
K. L.
I have only been in once but will definitely be back. A small friendly local in a quiet street off Brick Lane looked after by a great barmaid. Great for couples. 👌
T. H.
A great old school London pub with fantastic atmosphere, bar staff and even punters. Where else in the city can you get two pints of real ale and 2 packets of crisps, and still have change from a tenner?
R. J.
Great pla e on a vreat day out.
R. M.
Probably my favourite pub in the east end. Been going for the last 15 years and will continue to go back, though sadly not a walk away anymore. Plenty of atmosphere and generally a wide variety of characters from all walks of life. Good selection of ales.
K. N.
It's small, it's cramped, but it is one of those rare pubs that really is homey. I felt like I was in someone's living room! The walls are adorned with old London trinkets. It's proper traditional and you'll find the patrons are from the older generations but still friendly. If you're looking for a traditional English pub,The Pride of Spitalfields ticks that box.
C. F.
The cat here is the most sophisticated member of the clientele, there are elderly men who do a thousand yard stare into the middle distance while gently and mournfully sipping strong lager. On Fridays they serve potatoes and party sausages which serve to nourish the local population who have just crawled flour from their Anderson shelter, and still bemoan the Blitz. There is a piano that like most of the people here is out of tune with society and contemporary music trends. If this sounds negative, it’s not. This is the best pub in London. It just doesn’t know it yet.
S. S.
Great pub with a nice outdoor space and very friendly staff. On a nice day, people are sat outside on the streets, which makes for a very communal atmosphere!
R. S.
A lovely old school boozer. Great selection of beers and friendly atmosphere. Go on Tuesday for live piano music and a good old sing along. They also have a huge cat who may join you at the table!!
T. C.
Probably my favourite pub in the east. Is small but great to hang out on the curb outside in the summer (quiet road). Really friendly staff and some pretty good beers although not a huge selection. This is an old school east end pub
F. S.
Good mix of people and great beer
R. A.
I love this pub. A great place to grab an after work pint. Fantastic ale, good selection of whisky. Good cheap food served in the day, and really friendly staff!
Just a shame about the people opposite complaining all the time.
A. G.
I discovered this traditional British pub when on a food tour with +EatingLondon. Loved the atmosphere inside - even on a weekday afternoon there were plenty of people there. Beer and ciders were great! Be sure to keep an eye out for the resident cat :)
P. S.
A real gem of a pub. Genuine, hard working staff who make you feel welcome. Good selection of drinks at very reasonable prices. Will definitely be making a bee line for it next time I'm in the area.
M. A. K.
Just the place I was looking for. Traditional English pub, friendly staff, fair prices and not too noisy.
G. B.
Friendly 'local' style pub with a wide range of well kept beers and as this is a rare free house prices compare to the rest of the UK not the rediculously over priced beer you can expect in London. A refreshing change, recommended.
L. M.
This is a real London pub, sadly a rarity in today's East End. Friendly staff and good choice of beers. Rather than go to one of the tedious hipster bars springing up all over the Brick lane area go to this pub that is genuine and has real character
M.
This used to be a regular haunt of ours when we lived in the Eastend. Now we have moved to South Wales we go here whenever we are in town. Just of off the hurly burly of Brick Lane a real place to sit enjoy a good pint of cask ale and relax.
L. B.
Gem of a pub with some of the best beer around. The food is also very good and really well priced and theres a great atmosphere in the place. The staff are welcoming and its like youre steping back intime this is how pubs should be run.
M. D.
Lovely little local pub - friendly staff, great selection of draught beer and fab Orchard cider rather than yucky Strongbow you find elsewhere round here. However, emphasis is on the 'little' - if you like your boozers cavernous and only go to places to be seen, this is not right for you.
M. W.
What a pub should be like. Unpretentious and charming. If you're in London looking for a more genuine pub experience this is a place that should be on your list. The Christmas decorations was horrendous, but I won't hold that against them. Prices are reasonable too.
A. J.
Nice traditional pub very close to Spittafields Market and Jack the ripper tours. A bit of a hidden gem. One of the few pubs we visited where you could actually have a conversation without having to shout!
V. S.
Wonderful gem of a pub tucked just off of Brick Lane. I had probably the cheapest G&T of my life here, while my friends enjoyed the variety of beers on tap. Unpretentious, cozy interior. There's even a pub cat!
A. y. K. T.
We know the owners already for many years and we are planning to visit them soon in london at this fine pub. But what is comming soon new in this pub is the new beer mats with our advertisement on it, nice to make the world smaller again by this action.
R. W.
Nice classic London pub. Bit frustrating on arrival to be asked three times within three minutes if I was ready to order from the bar. I was waiting for a friend and explained this but gave in to the repeated requests (from same barmaid) and ordered a pint just for me. Then told min spend on card is £5 which I said it would be over that once I was able to buy a pint for a friend. Then told I could open a tab by leaving my credit card behind the bar next to till. I don't think so and I explained I wasn't happy to do that. Told that I should trust them and it's fine to hand over my card. I responded that trust is two ways and in wanting my card they weren't trusting me to pay. I received a lecture about the rules and a few shakes of the head, my pint held behind the bar which was released once my friend arrived and paid I for his pint along with mine. Can't say I'll be in a hurry to go back.
W. B.
One of the last authentic, true boozers around. If you are a traditionalist, you'll love this place. Great staff behind the bar, who know what the customers want and enjoy a good banter as well.
D. J.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the lovely people that work here! We turned up late on Xmas Eve and the team were so friendly and welcoming, even the pub cat was nice. This is a great pub. Thank you very much lovely people ❤️ Xxxx
P. s.
Very friendly staff
A. B.
One of the coziest bars in London, this place is perfect for knocking back a few beers with friends. Most of the people here are regulars, locals from the neighborhood. The drinks are cheap, the staff friendly... And of course, the cat doesn't care.
A. W.
Although it's been a while since I last dropped in, this has always been a 5 star boozer. I had a birthday there a few years ago and they were brilliant hosts. I need to go back!
J. W.
Probably the definition of 'original London boozer'. Don't go here if you want a fancy, modern drinking experience. Do go here if you want no-frills, steeped-in-culture, loud and in-you-face drinking.
I love it.
E. s.
Absolutely love this place - great old man country style pub with a pub cat. only sad thing is that because the drinks are cheap you always get quite a drunk person or big gaggles of people in for an 'occasion' which detracts from it a bit
A.
I wish I could say more about the Pride. I seem to wind up here most often after a wee bend with folks. It's nice enough that I keep coming back, but details about it are a little hazy... I seem to recall a cosy, closely packed space that feels somewhere between a classic pub and my grandparents' living room. Staff is friendly and likely tolerant of shenanigans, as I have yet to be ousted. You're also likely to find all the things that endear folks to local pubs; atmosphere, ale, and a great mix of locals and travellers alike.
If you're in London and looking for the "London" feel, this is one of the relatively few places where such can be found. Nestled on a narrow cobbled street in the East, The Pride very much feels like the sort of pub you want to find in the city.
C. M.
Fantastic proper British pub and a true hidden gem. Great staff and friendly customers make a truly exceptional experience. Thanks!
G. P.
First time here, and absolutely loved it. Really great vibe with an eclectic mix of people. Good selection of beers and drinks, and super cosy. Just off Brick Lane, so super easy to get to.
A. P.
Nice little drinking hole tucked away just off brick lane. For a tiny pub it has a decent range of beer on tap. Definitely worth a visit if you're passing.
N. D.
Excellent pub just off Brick lane great anytime when busy or quiet. Staff alway friendly but could do with some benches out to sit on out front. 1 thing you must do if you visit is tickle the cat who wanders around and is totally unphased by anything and is just awesome.
G. M.
Very traditional old man's pub with cheap beer 🍻
H. T.
Cosy local boozer retaining most of its charm. On entry it feel like you’ve walked into someone’s reception room, which happens to have a bar in it. Reasonable selection of beer with the normal staples (Fosters, Carling, London Pride etc) at reasonable prices. Nice just to grab a pint and stand outside in the sun as the world, and Brick Lane to the side, wonder by.
J. W.
Lovely proper London pub. V friendly staff, good food at a great price and my husband assures me the London Pride served here is the best in London.
R. D.
Awesome little pub! Sat down and had ale and cider with Lenny the cat. What a celebrity! Great ale, and some of the best cider I've had in London.
D. L.
Legendary pub, full of good beer and character.
S. M.
Brilliant East End Pub tucked away down a side street just off Brick Lane. Extremely Popular Old Pub. Very small place but full of Friendly Characters. Worth a visit!!
B. F.
Excellent fair-priced whole in the whole with cool-if-direct staff. Complete with piano and urban garden. Boasts trad panels and local ales. Cozy and not over-run with tourists
T. O. C.
Cheap pints. Cheap laughs. What more do you want from a pub
R. M.
Brilliant "proper" pub. Nice fire, relaxed atmosphere, good ales. I think the pub cat even has it's own Twitter account. One tim eI was in here and the landlady just started buttering bread and handing out slices to the old guys to keep 'em going! Simple, but great, hospitality.
J. M.
Easily one of the finest pubs in the area. Cosy with friendly staff and locals it's located just off brick lane so perfect for a curry. It is also famous for its cat named Lenny!
J. H.
A real old London boozer. This place feels like it hasn't changed much for about 50 years. Very reasonably priced bear and simple pub grub. If you want to experience a real, British pub. This is it.
J. H.
Our group met there to play a game together on our phones. The staff were hassling us about using our phones in the pub! That guy needs a drop kick. Next time we'll go somewhere else that's grateful for polite, friendly, happy, paying customers.
J. R.
Proper East London boozer with a good variety of well-kept real ales. Friendly team of veteran barmaids make sure that you can get a pint fairly quickly even when it's absolutely rammed (which it is every Friday night). Attracts everyone in the neighbourhood: cockney geezers, City boys, students, hipsters etc. Go here if you really want to see a cross section of East London. Oh, and come during the quieter moments and you might be able to pet the cat!
N. M.
Closest I've found to a Yorkshire pub in London.
b. H.
When I worked in London used the pub regularly. Well kept beer and good food and it was a real pub with locals working and drinking. I wonder if the lovely lady that put up with us B.T boys is still there serving home cooked grub?
R. D. B.
As a tourist this is how I imagined an English pub. Wide selection of beers on tap for a fair price (3 pound and change for a pint). The ambiance was always loud but cozy!
L. S.
Lovely people working there, nice real ales, all very affordable.
A. H. (. C.
Fantastic historical pub off brick lane. Great cask ales.
R. H.
A very busy pub with good atmosphere. However having the stag accused of his card bouncing when stood outside was very badly handled (he didn't buy a drink all day!).
Z. F.
When you think of a true London pub, this is exactly what comes to mind. It's a real local spot with a ton of friendly locals. The staff here are extremely helpful and it feels like family. I hope to return here the next time I'm in London.
D. B.
Probably my favourite pub in all of London. A real local pub, of the type which sadly is a rare breed nowadays.
Lovely staff, friendly regulars. A great craic.
A. E.
Lives up to is name: an establishment an area can be proud of. Good, cheap ales, friendly atmosphere, even an unfazeable pub cat. The decor is... 'authentic'; it's like drinking in your grandmother's back room in the 70s.
D. N.
Really good pub - well recomended.
It looks like Chas & Dave have just left the building - it appears unchanged from before the War. Small, cramped room with wonky chairs, nice beer, friendly.
A very genuine place, just round the corner from Brick Lane.
S. C.
Just so sweet and cosy...
L. F.
Great little pub right off Brick Lane. Decent selection of beers, lively and crowded with start-work crowd of locals. Overflowed out front, onto quaint old alley street that had high top tables, umbrellas, and service there.
E. B.
Great little pub. Often go in there and it's always busy and lively. Great blonde Latvian girl in there who always serves me with the best service
D. W.
Great traditional British boozer. They don't make them like this anymore!
D. J.
Solid traditional pub with well kept ale. Staff and locals usually friendly. Piano night weekly.
d.
They let us try different beers before buying. There's a a bar pianist that takes song requests. Very very cosy and laid-back, friendly people. A beautiful cat makes it all even better, if you're not allergic, that is.
S. C. M.
A real london pub experience..a good place to go!
M. M.
A little gem .a proper pub .Friendly staff and great atmosphere .we visit London 2 or 3 times a year and this is our absolute favourite pub and believe me there are a lot of great pubs in London but The Pride of Spitalfields is special. Please dont ever change.
L. M.
Busy traditional pub that serves London Pride. Football on the TV. I meet friends there from time to time and always have a good time. It's an increasingly rare survival of a proper pub.
N. K.
Nice little Brick Lane pub, friendly staff and atmosphere. Not the best beer selection but that's fine
S. C.
FANTASTIC ATMOSPHERE, FRIENDLY STAFF, VERY EFFICIENT SERVICE AND A PLEASANT PUBLIC HOUSE. THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR ALL THE FAMILY
P. E.
Great local pub with loads of history and character good selection of beers great friendly service and atmosphere. This was my first visit I didn't know it was there it won't be the last.
D. B.
Great traditional pub; free roast potatoes and sausages served at 5pm on Fridays! Can get very full. Don't sit on the sleeping cat!
G. C.
An East End boozer, a gem, an experience, a vital watering hole in this fab area of London.
R. d. C. M.
Very nice lady on the counter! Typical, legitimate London pub
E. W.
You know what. I love this place. A real local pub with home made sandwiches, freshly fried chips, and smiles around. Definitely coming back on my lunch breaks for some piece and quiet from the office 😂
A. H.
Authentic traditional English pub. Good beers. Cool vibe. Located in ever hipster East End. There is a special cat who is hard to find.
B. B.
Charming authentic English pub that makes for a welcome respite from the infinite supply of Be At Ones and Slug and Lettuce normally found in tourist areas of London. It's obviously still local, with friendly staff and a warm cosy atmosphere.
P. V.
Like a time capsule of Shoreditch's illustrious past.
In a part of London which almost takes pride in reinventing itself this pub seems to take pride in being a reminder of where it has come from.
Come for the salt beef and stay for the atmosphere and decent beer. Staff very pleasant and the clientele a mix of locals, Datacenter staff and Shoreditch more ironic types.
G. M.
Characterful local with good music (apart from regular Spotify ads - go Premium!). Very reasonably priced pints and friendly staff.
A. W.
Lovely little pub just off Brick Lane and well positioned for Brick Lane Market. Nice and cosy, well priced and friendly staff. Good selection of ales and not too busy on a sunny Saturday
G. B.
A proper east end pub
B.
Nice traditional Pub near brick lane...small but good selection of Beer and cider. Not so expensive 😁....and nice people there.
On Friday the Pub is full....
V. B.
Love it. Like the quaint essential British boozer. Velour curtains, log fire.. wooden seats and stools... everyone so polite. It's like someone's front room! And it's currently Christmas.. it looks so lovely with all the decorations up. Our round costt £7.40ish. Come ere!
C. B.
Beers fine and basic bar food ok - was actually colder inside the pub than outside though, which would be ok on a hot summers day, but wasn't when I visited
R. G.
A hidden oasis in the heart of busy east London. If you want great beer, a cosy environment where you can chat the night away with quick easy service from pleasant landlords then this is the pub for you.
r. d.
Dog friendly on a lead though due to a cat that lives there. Friendly place away from the chaos
A. C.
Great old fashioned bar. Does get quite busy on a Friday night for after work drinks. Staff are friendly and there’s a good choice of drinks available.
g. t.
Great pub.. Nice locals, great friendly staff and service with an amazing landlady to top it off... I regularly bring tourists here and am very proud of this place
E. G.
Gorgeous old style English pub with a resident cat. Friendly staff and reasonable selection of beers. House wine was good.
B. W.
Just brill. Totally non-gentrified and just how we liked it. Great bar staff and a feel of an old-school pub in a hipster area.
H. C.
Lovely little old east end local pub, with great friendly staff! Got a pleasant surprise when the free plates of roast potatoes and mini sausages came round 😊 This really is a must see pub!!
D. H.
Traditional local's pub just off Brick Lane with Local real ale and a stand offish cat. If you remember pubs in the 60's, you'll really like this place.
T. G.
Lovely proper east end boozer unspoiled by modernisation and nice staff. Well worth it.
K. J.
Outstanding pub. Great vibe, really friendly folks and a superb couple of pints of cider. Will definitely return.
P. D.
Small, crowded cozy. A gem of an unspoilt boozer, serving good ales, notably Maldon Brewers Gold as it's regular. Don't expect glitz or gastro. Do expect an eclectic, often drunk, crowd.
M. M.
Wide selection of beers, really good prices and extremely relaxed environment. Perfect place for your first few after-work drinks
P. G.
This place isn't in any way in the touristy area, and has quite a nice local feel to it, definitely recommending it if you're going for the 'local pub' atmosphere
K. T.
Lovely old pub off of Brick Lane. Nice staff, beer and general atmosphere. Met Lenny the cat. He is the Guvnor.
P. F.
A small traditional cozy pub with a good range of cask ales. Service was welcoming and friendly, and the place was clean and comfortable. I didn't try the food yet.
J. H.
Locals pub which seems to have successfully retained its character despite the influx of hipsters. I was particularly pleased to find a CAMRA mirror here - always a sign of a good pub. Also, it has a carpet: an increasing rarity these days.
M. S.
Wonderful little pub just off brick lane!
J. U.
A great, traditional pub.
C. F.
A classic British pub tucked away off the bustling Brick Lane. This spot is a favorite for many of the digital and creative agencies in East London and will often be packed with them on a Friday afternoon. They have a £10 minimum on credit/debit cards.
T. C.
An old man's pub. A drinkers pub. A hole in the wall. A boozer. Footpath outside strewn with stories on a Saturday. So good here I expect it to get redeveloped by my second pint
K. M. C.
Lovely old local just off Brick Lane in the heart of curry land this lovely little pub does ales and beers . A gem of a pub to visit for it's old style decor.
J. C.
Boozer! Best pub in the area.
C. J.
Great old East End battle cruiser. Didn’t eat there but there were plenty of pub favourites on the menu and it looked really cheap!
T. R.
Prices good as well as the beer. Feels like a traditional East London pub. Would recommend a visit to everyone.
B. K.
A nice pub with lots of different beers.
N. W.
A pub that time has not touched - in the best possible way. Great service, beer and cats. All with a real fire make it super cosy on a cold day.
S. H.
Classic east end boozer, despite being moderately overrun by both tourists and hipsters. Suffice it to say that after three years in the neighborhood this is the last pub I visited before emigrating...
L. R.
Great place, good luck getting to the bar on a Friday though!
Generally cozy off peak, though you may find a cat on your seat if you get up for any length of time.
R. S.
Local nice and cheap pub. The pints range from 3,60 to 4 pounds! Great cider as well!
T. C.
Fantastic place! I wandered in after some curry and found good music, cask ales, and a lively but not obnoxious crowd. If I ever make it back to London, I will stop in again for sure.
J. F.
Small, friendly, old style pub with great beer and food at budget prices. Plus a cat! Friendly staff, all types of customers.

Great old fashioned pub, great staff, good beers and excellent atmosphere. I always enjoy a pint here.
B. 6.
Warm, nice place to take a rest from a busy day in Brick Lane market.
Friendly, cosy atmosphere and nice drinks.
Will start visiting more often!
P. P. M.
A great place to pass an hour whilst waiting for a Liverpool St train, there's almost always an excellent pint of Crouch Vale Brewer's Gold on tap at a treasonable price. Don't forget to pick up some Indian sweets rorm the shop around the corner on Brick Lane.
m. c.
What a great little pub, from the friendly staff and customers to the excellent live piano sing along, had a couple of good nights here while on recent visit, I'd definitely go back again if im in the area.
C. P.
Small pub just off brick lane. Great hidden cheap boozer with a cute cat sleeping on the sofas

A pub that time has not touched - in the best possible way. Great service, beer and cats. All with a real fire make it super cosy on a cold day.

Legendary pub in the heart of Shoreditch/Spitalfields.
Lenny the Pub Cat RIP
A. y. K. T.
We know the owners already for many years and we are planning to visit them soon in london at this fine pub. But what is comming soon new in this pub is the new beer mats with our advertisement on it, nice to make the world smaller again by this action.

s. n.
Really nice cozy pub in the middle of all the over-priced touristy bars of Bricklane. Would go there for a cheap pint again .
S. D.
Proper old-school boozer offering excellent people watching, an expanse of pavement for those hot summer nights, a log fire on cold winter nights and the usual pub drinks. Full of charm.

M. T.
Amazing place, very relaxing in the afternoon, when I would get back to London I'll take another couple of beer in that pub
p.
The literal definition of Quaint English Pub. Very small space, but doesn’t deter locals from packing in and out on to the street.
D. M.
Old-school, popular, staff who care...and soft furnishings! (chain pubs strip those out). Free plates of roast spuds. The Gem of the East End.
M. K.
Cheap. Has a nice cat. Nice old style pub but very small, without even standing room when busy.
S. T.
Real, wholesome, good sized portion meals for a price less than the very reasonable priced beer (also a nice little selection) - absolute gem of a little pub!

Great old-school boozer in a part of London you would not expect to find one. The Guinness is very good too.
