Reviews of The Rockingham Arms - JD Wetherspoon
A. V. M.
I generally avoided Wetherspoons in the past. However during Covid they had an app to order food & drinks to the table, making it contactless and safer. They also have Outside seating.
Food is really good and decent selection of beers.
The blue lagoon drink is very nice!
Toilets could be cleaner but overall I have to say what more would you need from a good pub?
d. e.
Lovely meal for our first anniversary date night out. Fantastic service very friendly staff . Food was amazing and great portions. Very cosy atmosphere.
Will definitely be back soon. Thank u guys for your great work. Dean & Roseanne
K. L. (.
It's Spoons so what can I say? Food wise If you want a cheapish lunch and cba to bring lunch to work then whereelse. Loads of food selection (I wouldn't try the fake nandos though - chicken was bland and burnt on the outside the skin was crisped!) Always see the locals having a beer and that but I don't think I'll come to have a drink on a Friday Evening (never had done after working in E&C for many years) Best snacks are the chicken wings!
H. F.
A fine spoons. Food was tasty with a sufficient amount of chips. I usually drink cider of which the options were limited but other than that a good selection of drinks. Only issue is that there is not enough seating for the usual numbers, especially later and on the weekends but it doesn't take long to get a seat. Better than expected.
S. C.
Decent enough pub to sit with a few mates and few drinks for relatively decent prices. Can't complain much. Its simple and there for gathering before moving on in my eyes. Good meet up.
t. k.
Enjoyed our lunch here, interesting menu and food delicious. Also reasonably priced. Lovely helpful staff. You could see into the kitchen and it all looked calm and controlled, would definitely return.
K. R.
Not posh but clean and tidy. Had a fish and chip meal plus son had a curry both were very tasty. The ladies toilets need some attention, clean but not in the best condition. Staff were busy.
k. m.
Large weatherspoon pub set on one level has a separate area for families to have food and is close to a university so is popular with students.
Staff nice and friendly.
Pub is nice however it is dated and requires a update in terms of furniture and flooring.
M. M.
Recently the food and service has really gone down hill. The tables were filthy and service under par. Their special for Tuesday, steak, came served only with chips and nothing else. We ordered extra peppercorn sauce and they didn't add it on. Wasn't worth the food getting cold to wait for the sauce. The chicken salad was nice but expensive for what it was. Won't be going back in a hurry.
W. G.
Nipped in for a quick pint after work and it felt very average. Limited selection of draft beers but the one I got was nice. The feel of the place was not great and the table we sat at was sticky
J. M.
It's pretty much what you'd expect. It can get pretty crowded because the prices are so competitive. Good place to relax with some friends but definitely not a place you'd want to take your misses to for a night out.
K. T.
Standard spoons really, you know what you're getting. Nice staff, decent service (would have been great but waited a while for drinks ordered on the app). Unfortunately they don't allow dogs outside but they said that was standard for pubs in the area
J. P. M.
Classic Wetherspoons experience with good mix of people at lunchtime (students and local office workers as well as the usual crowd). Great range of interesting ales. Great value food.
Not family friendly - people with kids are asked to sit in the 'family area' (a dingy corner at the back, far away from the nice bright windows at the front) - and management are quite stroppy with families who try to sit at the front. If you have kids you're probably better going to Nandos next door...

Steak Tuesday's!!
Visited The Rockingham Arms for a quick lunch while I was in the area, plus I fancied some steak 😁
Standard Weatherspoons, quite big and they have a small seating area outside at the front of the pub. The steak was a good size and cooked well, a little pit dry but the sauces they provide help. Can't complain for £9.95 and it included a glass of wine too.
Overall a good steak meal, love me some steak Tuesday's. 🙋🏾♀️
w. r.
Usual basic range with nice guest beers. Locals and staff friendly. Food was well done.
G. O.
Jordan was spectacular. As a waitress myself I can appreciate his hospitality. Would defo go back there 👌🏾
P. C.
Best time to go is on a Sunday. We've been for breakfast at 11ish and dinner at 5ish and the atmosphere has been very relaxed both times. Not busy at all. And they're really sticking to all COVID precautions; mandatory check-in on the NHS app, you have to wear your mask unless your at your table, hand wash stations, table ordering only, and screens to separate tables.
It's a Wetherspoons so the food is as you expect; cheap, but decent quality. And ordering on the app is an absolute breeze. Can't fault the staff; they're all lovely.
Only minor complaint is our table was attacked by fruit flies. We were sat next to a plant, which may have attracted them.
Foodwise I got the mini vegetable pizza and the mini vegan jackfruit pizza, with a side of 5 bean chilli. My friend got the mixed grill with a side of scampi. All came out hot and in good time; zero issues :) (would recommend the jackfruit pizza!)
G. R.
Nice Wetherspoons on Elephant &Castle roundabout. Some outdoor seating and reasonable prices on food and drinks.
I. S.
Erm, not much to say really. It's a Spoons in London, so nice happy prices for everything - food & drink! However, you get what you pay for... I ordered a medium rare steak, I didn't get this though. It was closer to well done and as dry as the desert! Clearly their chef doesn't know how to cook steak. My wife's pizza wasn't too bad, although a slightly soggy base! But I like that, the wive not so much. Usual, scan the code and order from your table although this place also offered bar service. Looking for a quick sit down drink, this place is just fine for that.
D. G.
Great prices and great service! Only reason for 3 star rating, is its a Wetherspoons and looks a bit tired and could do with a coat of paint etc. But value for money on drinks/food for sure.
P. D.
Well run and comfortable Wetherspoons at the Elephant & Castle. Good value drinks and food in a spacious environment. Convenient for local amenities, including the shopping centre and two stations
A. “. S.
A Wetherspoon pub with good service "thank god they do exist".
Drank the guest ale and it was lovely, but the biggest surprise was the good service.
Thank you to the staff who were able to monitor the bar and serve people so efficiently.
Food was good, standard Wetherspoon menu I suppose, but it arrived quickly and was very well heated/microwaved.
Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
S. S.
Food is amazing really generous servings service is quick and friendly really enjoyed it
B. R. W.
Good food with reasonable price drinks. The chicken bacon Ceasar salad is the best.
M. S.
Polite and attentive staff, good quality food for our lunch.
A. K.
If you ever attend Ministry of Sound (a short walk-away), you know that this pub is the pre-meet place to be.
A great Weatherspoons for drinks and catch-ups with friends before the dancefloor.
T. P.
Wonderful place . I encourage Londoners to come and visit ! Great Fun, I hope Mayor of London will award the Restaurant with the highest honour and donation possible
P.
Basic Spoons - cheap food and drinks. You're able to sit outside as well. Gets very busy after work.
B. C.
Not bad. As good as it can get. Food came before the drinks. Was ok.
D. S.
A cheap and cheerful pub! Good staff...Okay food and sharing platters! Good value for money!
D. S.
My drink was ok but my friend's ice had some dodgy thing in it. I will go back but I'm glad I don't like ice.
M. G.
Typical Wetherspoons. Great location right near the tube station (only a two minute walk) Great table service, nice and quick. The food was fine. It is a bit dinghy, could do with a lick of paint. It gets very VERY busy and very noisy.
s. h.
Cant go wrong with a spoons . Drinks great value! What's not to like
M. K.
Had the best fish n chips ever in the spoons, just a shame the chef wasn't looking after the cellar. Would say its more of a lager pub. Drinkable, but far from spectacular. Not up to, Surrey docks or Great Harry. A little more attention or ( training ) wouldn't go amiss. Maybe, in a lager pub keep less cask and keep it well. When it flows, it glows.
J. W.
It's a wetherspoons and it's not a great one to be honest. It served a decent pint of punk ipa though.
e. “. V. I.
I do like this pub, but it really does need sorting out. Always short staffed and the pub is pretty much busy all week. Tables are always a mess and and the toilets are ill maintained.
With the area having a face-lift, you'd expect this Spoons too do better too attract more people to it.
Some staff have a bad attitude too. Not, welcoming at all. Really disappointed and it was a long while ago when I last visited and nothing has changed.
S. F.
It was fairly quiet given it's a Wetherspoon's and it's lunch time. My food arrived quickly.
Much of the clientele appeared unable to go for more than a minute without punctuating their conversations with obscene language, however.
W. C.
Very lively and friendly staff. The atmosphere is Great. Crowded but good spaces and excellent seating. All government guidelines are in place. Out door seating provided. Excellent facilities and very clean. The local surrounding areas plenty of choice stores. Local to the tube station Elephant and Castle. Foods is hot and tasty. Various dishes and drinks upon order. The staff are busy and polite. Very cosmopolitan crowd. It is family friendly. Large spaces available for the groups. Well, what are you waiting for??? Go treat someone to a new venue...blessings
J.
Not an outstanding example of a Wetherspoons, but very good value food and drinks as always. The building is of slight historical interest, but it doesn't lend any real character. We stopped here for breakfast and had eggs royale and they were really very good with the eggs poached perfectly. It wasn't too busy and the Wetherspoons approach of no background music made it a quiet and relaxing experience. The WiFi hotshot outside on the street provides a super fast connection so sit near the window if you're looking to surf while you eat or drink. The staff are pleasant and the whole place is pretty clean. Will definitely return if I'm in the area.
P. R.
Very good Wetherspoons. Friendly staff quick service. Good selection of real ales. Recommended
I. “. S.
Plenty of room, despite being new year's eve. Chronically understaffed though. Dirt cheap beer though at £2.75 a pint!
P. L.
Staff friendly and service very prompt. Breakfast was a bit cold in part but edible.
V. O.
The restaurant was good, the taste of pizza was really awesome. But when we ordered chicken burgers, the chicken inside was too hard to eat. So I won't suggest burgers at this place. The hospitality of the waiters was very poor. They can't even respond quickly to the instructions or requests. However the ordering process by going with a paperless menu, which everything is online was really good and also an innovative idea.
C.
Probs the best breakfast I've had at a Witherspoon's, runny eggs and all cooked well.
A. (.
Another great local wetherspoons pub. Toilets needs to be refurbished. Other than that all good
S. F.
The food is not really good. None of us finished the plate. Tables are never cleaned . The place itself is not clean. However we had a very friendly waiter .
R. H.
Simple and straight forward food. Prices are good and the staff are polite
J. M. P.
It semt to be one of the worst running Wetherspoons I have been to. Maybe extremely busy that day who knows.
G. T.
Standard place, nice and quiet when I've been in the day. But was cold inside
Y.
Decent food, bad atmosphere. It's a McDonald's in tge world of pubs.
R. T.
Nice Wetherspoons. Bench seating out the front, bar style seats and tables just inside and a family area at the back with low seats and highchairs available. The toilets are down two flights of stairs at the front of the restaurant. The food is great with good sized portions.
A. Z.
Nice pub in a good location with great service from a bartender called Daria, highly recommended
c. h.
Staff was nice other than that its just another wetherspoons 😁😁
L. M.
Nice and cheap place. Delicious English breakfast!
K.
It's a Wetherspoons. Cheap pints what more can you ask for. Lots of students so don't expect a quiet night with your mates.
C. F.
Good service. Food ok apart from the peas in the fish and chips. They were tasteless.
N. N.
Pub is nice. Prices are reasonable.
Some of the front of house staff need training on customer service. Some of them can be quite rude (not all).
M. U.
Typical Wetherspoon experience; cheap food and drinks with decent quality. A good mix of students, builders and other people.
D. G.
Located in city centre still affordable rates for all products not costly can have burger chips and soft drink for 6-8£ per person. Amazing atmosphere.
K.
Nice venue, great deals.
Still delivering good food for good prices.
k. p.
Excellent food, in fact one of the tastiest burgers I've ever eaten! Staff were lovely! Clean tidy place. Definately worth a visit! Xx
H. L.
Great food and drink, in a busy place in central London! I'll come back!
B. Z.
I love the staff here very welcoming smiley helpful and polite lovely young ladies talking to the regular elderly customers and going that extra mile of service the layout is quite large the lighting isn't the best and the toilets are a distance but it's clean I haven't tried the food but others seemed to be enjoying there's and i did have an eye at a few dishes and it looked nice so if yout ever around the elephant and castle area pip into the Rockingham Arms it's a sanctuary
R. G.
I haven't been in to drink and eat for a long time, but this place was amazing for predrinks and Pre-eats. Always good vibes.
U. E.
The atmosphere while I was there was super chilled and the prices omg amazing!. I was able to get two pints for a very affordable price and it tasted amazing and fresh! The staff there are so friendly and really quick at serving their customers. I didn't not even have to wait up to 3 minutes before k was heading back to my seat as a happy camper. Loved it!!
I'll certainly be returning there at some point xx
k. h.
Good food , pleasant atmosphere.
K. S.
Had breakfast. I know the price is excellent but can't understand why most wetherspoons pubs serve their food cold and always on cold plates.
L. C.
An unapologetically OLD pub in a MODERN Elephant and Castle, so yes it is exactly what you'd expect in terms of quality of food and furnishing. And for that I give it 5 Stars.
A.
Great place to have breakfast. The breakfasts here are very large for its price. We'll worth it. The juice is not the greatest, it is concentrated, and the coffee or hot drinks are not worth it either. But food wise its acceptable if you don't wanna over pay in other places. Overall, great place to chill in the afternoon and evenings with friends
M. B.
Food wasn't so great considering that there weren't a lot of people and they had ran out of a few things but that's due to Corona. Service was decent, staff were helpful for the most part but food could do with some improvements. Fish was very hard, almost burnt, burger had no sauce included. Very small amount of chips made the plate look quite empty.
J. M.
Great Place to have Lunch time for a pint and pub grub. Outside sitting not recommended as lots of noise and car pollution generated from the elephant and castle round about.
J. C.
Very cheap food and good portion sizes. But you have to put up with the drunks at 11AM.
T. H.
What can I say? It's the cheapest place to drink in reasonable proximity to central London, with plenty of space outside. The toilets are the usual Wetherspoons piss dungeon, and the regulars are everything you'd expect of Wetherspoons patrons. Please try not to assault the staff when your preferred ale is off, they're doing their (Ruddles) best!
P. E.
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Service with a smile 😃 😉👍🏽
N. P.
Had a lovely breakfast, staff helpful and pleasant. Tables need to be cleaned quicker and a little better
M. S.
Had one of the best nights of my life in here, only downfall was slipping over on a pair of boxers in the toilet. The perfectly made mojitos made up for it though.
T. A.
Amazing value for money, as all Wetherspoon pubs. A true pillar of the local community. Not the best atmosphere, a lot of day-drinkers. Food is okay, perfectly edible but more importantly very cheap with huge portions! Some staff are great, others just decent; but with a fast serving speed you won’t be waiting long!
R.
Quite a big pub, with a friendly atmosphere.
Ordered drinks and a dessert, and got quick service.
A little mixup with table orders was quickly resolved without any further problems.
If you are looking for a place to have a good beer and talk with some friends, this is a good place.
L. A.
Lovely staff. Debatable clientele!😂🤣
R. C.
Food was good and arrived in a reasonable time. Tables weren't very clean unfortunately and in the end settled for the least sticky one
S. A.
Slightly hungover, went in with a few friends to get some food. I had fish and chips which as always, hit the spot! My friend had a burger and the other had the veg brunch. Everything was good. Atmosphere was nice and calm. The food came quick and was nicely cooked and piping hot too. Thank you
J. K.
Small but nice Wetherspoons Pub.
Went in at around 11:30am and had to hunt around for a table. Found the only one left. Staff were friendly, the order area never a queue, order via app worked well.
Food was hot when it arrived. Very well cooked. Drinks came with the food (we ordered via app).
Can't think of any reason why I would not go back.
P. H.
This is a cheap point for London. Less than £4 a pint in 2022. Can't complain
J. C.
The drink is cheap but the food is not great
M. R.
Would be even better without the hordes of tourists.
M. a. J. B.
Traditional Wetherspoons experience, wide selection of drinks & ales at amazing prices, great value breakfast, lunch and evening meals, food is served from first thing in the day until late evening. The staff were polite & efficient and you know what to expect when calling into a Wetherspoons. The atmosphere was chilled in the daytime when called in for a drink, the evenings however can be very lively but did manage to find a table ok and enjoyed our meal here, whilst reflecting on our day's sightseeing around Elephant & Castle. Overall a good pub, excellent prices, nice food, great drinks and recommended!
R. J. W.
Reasonable but only called in for a Coffee, staff not happy to provide clean cup for a refill as required.
K. L.
On the busy Elephant & Castle interchange. A busy pub but well kept ale so worth finding
s. h.
Reasonable priced, friendly staff
T. H.
A very typical Weatherspoons. It has a wide range of food and drink options and they are all very reasonably priced. Even when it's busy the service is quick and you get your food fast. However the quality is great but it exactly right for the price. Food from the grill tends to be best.
H. B.
Very cheap compared to other restaurants 👍🏻
A. L.
I buy 1 beer, but pay for 2. After they give for me 1 more like present :D but everything good
J. S.
Was on a stag doo. Staff were great and made us welcome. The beer was on top form.
M. C.
Street food is good, but the market is even better, you can find good products for your home kitchen from all country in the word
M. E.
Good food - better than a number of other Wetherspoons I've been to. Polite and helpful staff. Got a decent table quickly - again rates highly compared to other Wetherspoons.
Only downside is Gents toilets with urine pools under urinals. This needs redesigned /refurbished. Also disabled toilet on bar level is used by nearly all and sundry. Not acceptable.
R. G.
Great meal friendly service
R. B. B.
Though situated in a fairly rough part of London I found it surprisingly good. Large, light and airy with plenty of seating outdoors with all the usual Wetherspoon's benefits.
M. E. L.
Nice place to have delicious breakfast.
J. H.
Cheap for London! Good staff, food and drink
J. M.
Great Place to have Lunch time for a pint and pub grub. Outside sitting not recommended as lots of noise and car pollution generated from the elephant and castle round about.
d. h.
It's a wetherspoons so it's pretty much what u expect. Bang average
J. D.
Not one of the best wetherspoons I have visited
E. V.
👍
J. H.
Great local boozer, food and drink available at reasonable prices
P. R.
Feed yourself without empty your pocket. What do you expect from a whetherspoon? You got it here.
J. S.
Spot on it is what it is and food was good
m. s.
Nice place to eat good service and food was ready quickly I will go there again when I'm in London
Y. V.
Had a great time in there. Beer is nice cold and affordable
B. S.
Yesterday they were only 3 members of staff on, a team leader & 2 female staff, 1 called Courtney. They worked so hard all 3 of them, Courtney serving at the bar & the other 2 serving food & cleaning the tables. THey all deserve a big bonus!
H. W.
Nice pub! I met some friends here before going to MOS. The atmosphere was very good. Since I don't drink beer, I had some cocktails, which were quite inexpensive. However, they tasted rather watery as there was too few alcohol (rum) contained, at least for my taste.
O. C.
Really good wetherspoons, with friendly staff, let down by dungeon-like toilets.
C. B.
Plenty of seating and not to busy even though we visited on a Saturday afternoon. Close to lots of forms of public transport so it's easy to get to and from. They only downside I found was the toilets weren't that clean and looked like they could have do with a refurbishment sooner rather than later.
S. S.
Nice Wetherspoon pub in the city in Elephant & Castle. They've got seating arrangements outside. Reasonably priced beer and cocktails. Their new on the menu "Mango Mash" cocktail is a must try for cocktail lovers. Standard food quality as all other Wetherspoon pubs. Only issue was that the tables placed outside weren't clean enough.
R. D.
Good beer nice staff enjoyable afternoon would definitely go again
J. C.
Ideally located close to the underground station. Good value for money and quick service. Good Covid-19 precautions in place. Sadly, the tables and chairs are very worn.
P. R.
Feed yourself without empty your pocket. What do you expect from a whetherspoon? You got it here.
j. f.
Easy to find, nice breakfast, not that busy when we were there, staff are welcoming
A. C.
Don't expect much from this Wetherspoons: it's basic, zero atmosphere and security are extremely rude. But it doesn't get much cheaper for drinks in Elephant and Castle - if that's what you and your friends are after. If you were planning something more classy or intimate, just avoid.
R. S. (.
This is the strangest wetherspoons I've ever visited. It's quite ropey, pretty unfriendly, a distinct lack of banter with the bar and security staff! However it's convenient and probably relatively reasonable compared to the other local pubs.
D. A. B.
Usually the staff ask you while your eating, "Is everything alright". They don't ask that now. Traditional English breakfast was good, if put on a warm plate could have been better, as it all seemed Luke warm. Oh well still good value.
M. F.
Lovely ,friendly stuff 😍a professional manager.
High quality food and the service is really great
Love the drinks, the desserts.
a great location near to the train station when u step out of it you can find the pub around to relax n have a cup of tea.
N. M.
Pretty classic Wetherspoons. Some of the staff are super friendly, some look like they'd rather be elsewhere...
They have a decent range of beers and typically good value for a pint. The interior of the pub leaves a bit to be to desired though.
B. L.
Slow service at times with high staff turnover, small portions compared with other spoons I've been to. Interesting mix of students and old alchos. Merits an extra star for the updated front area. Toilets are a bit of a trek, needs faster service.
M. B.
Went here for a quick leaving lunch and drink. The food was delicious and the drinks really nice. They have a good selection of non alcoholic drinks.
cosy place, my only regret was not going there more often during my time at the employment location
T. G. G.
Serving a great meal is a piece of cake - or in this case, a slice of pizza. Ordered a spicy meat feast pizza and was brought out quickly and cooked to perfection. Awesome service, awesome food.
O. M.
Lovely bar in the heart of Elephant and Castle
Y. F.
Great service with great employees. Nothing to ask for and 10 out of 10 would go again.
J. C.
The drink is cheap but the food is not great
a. t.
Good place for a drink
T. H.
What can I say? It's the cheapest place to drink in reasonable proximity to central London, with plenty of space outside. The toilets are the usual Wetherspoons piss dungeon, and the regulars are everything you'd expect of Wetherspoons …
F. W.
Great drinks and food for affordable prices. It was little bit dirty though
S. E.
Good: Reasonable price. Good foods. Location is great.
Bad: Some local alcoholics with filthy smell gather in the morning. Your breakfast time might get ruined based on my experience
R. F.
The bouncers were friendly and liked my boyfriend's tattoos. They were happy to bring a bowl of peas to our table ordered through the wetherspoons app. Good work pub.
P. A.
Better place than it was when I was last there five years ago, but the service wasn't great. Food OK, good pint too, but in no hurry to go back
G. H.
Cheap and cheerful, like most Wetherspoons, the Rockingham Arms is a great place for a post-work drink. At times it gets pretty busy, and a lack of bartenders makes it difficult to get served at these times. It is also hard to get seated sometimes. There is a good selection of food, all prepared well and at reasonable prices, which arrive quite quickly.
S. T.
Great staff, great service, good food
i. B.
I was at whetherspoon in elephant and castle and as I was sitting quietly enjoying my glass of wine a guy came to me asking for my ID. He told me I was not allowed anywhere near the whetherspoon premises after 6 pm because I am 19 years old.
That I found a bit strange since I know that in the UK an 18 year old person is considered adult. I’ve also read though that if the pub you are at doesn’t serve food then you have to be 21 or above to be allowed in. Whetherspoons do serve food though or is that only until 6pm?
Anyway take that into consideration before visiting
Great place, beautiful atmosphere and good service:)
J. A.
Sort of reflects the area it's in, no disrespect intended. We came here after visiting the IWM and the kids were hungry and like Wetherspoons as a rule. Can't really argue with the value for money that Wetherspoons offer though. If you're not averse to the odd lively character or two then there's no problem.
D. T.
I went in and ordered a drink while I waited for my order of Nandos next door. Busy as usual
m. k.
Food and service great.
R. E.
Lower than standard Wetherspoons fare.
K. H.
Been going to this pub for years Weekend get extremely busy but nice place
J. L.
It's always a ropey one down at the Rockingham, and that's exactly how we like it. As it happens, I am not drinking tonight, but the booze-infused views and beery cheer somehow seep in like scent-memory in the furnishings. I remember a stew at table 22, as the punters hack away and souse - it's slippery tonight. Was ever heart so poor or brow so glum, a sojourn in this rowdy pit would go amiss?
A. N.
Always a nice place to eat as are all the Wetherspoon chain of pubs. And there is a reasonable polite cross section of clientele due to the proximity of local college’s shipping centre and increased social housing
T. C.
Service is very very slow, pub is very run down and locals are loutish. It smells better than the area. E&C is a very run down area and has a horrid smell to it. This pub at least smells of something nicer which isn’t too tricky!
A. M.
One of the cheapest pubs in London. Clean with kind staff and decent selection of beers and foods. Toilets are a bit of a way from the bar and seated area though.
K. S.
Only had breakfast here a few times and has been hit n miss. I would not have a main meal as after the breakfast experience I am not confident it would be very nice. Having said that the staff were friendly and attentive and offered to change my breakfast a couple of times!!!
C. B.
Good food, very reasonable price, nice atmosphere ☺️
f.
Great place to visit for food and beer cheap prices. A little hint get in early at the weekends if there's a group of you to get a table if you are eating. Staff are polite and friendly
M. W.
It has nice pub food at affordable prices, its only down fall is that it is always very busy and doesn't attract the friendliest crowd in the world. I have witnessed a number of alcohol fueled fights.
K. J.
Decent Weatherspoon,
Small but good service,
Friendly atmosphere and great location as right next to the tube station,
Spoon's prices but city location !!!!
S. E.
It's a wetherspoons. Decent breakfast. Great coffee and friendly helpful staff.
m. F.
A solid boozer , not a poncey bar . A bit rough round the edges , a few wrong uns , cheap beer . Ok food. The odd good looking woman . A bastion against gentrification. Which is taking hold of the area. Long may it fester.
D. C.
A nice relaxed atmosphere. We got quick service, Inspite of the place being nearly full. Friendly staff. . . Nice vibe !
R. H.
I'm not banned no more yeh..good place
R.
Quite a big pub, with a friendly atmosphere.
Ordered drinks and a dessert, and got quick service.
A little mixup with table orders was quickly resolved without any further …
M. S.
Okay it’s spoons, they all are similar yet unique in some odd way and this one was no exception. I went on a Sunday morning (as one does) and it was certainly full of characters. There were mostly older gents and a few ladies who had their eyes on the gents and almost hissed every time a youngin’ passed but that’s beside the point.
I had a coffee (again as one does) and a desert and both were good though the coffee is straight up a machine that you find at a hotel, car dealership, fancy office, petrol station, etc. it’s cool in that you can get whatever you’d like but it’s also from a generic machine so there’s that. Desert was good but the place could use a good clean, err, at least the coffee machine. :(
A. A.
Was overall alright
T. H.
A very typical Weatherspoons. It has a wide range of food and drink options and they are all very reasonably priced. Even when it's busy the service is quick and you get your food fast. However the quality is great but it exactly right for the price. Food from the grill tends to be best.
P. Q.
Good pub
J. M.
Definitely the best pub in the area by FAR!!
Despite a dingy exterior, the pub beautiful inside. Staff are always friendly and go the extra mile for customers as standard.
Excellent ale selection as always. Complimented with a large selection of coders.
J. K.
Small but nice Wetherspoons Pub.
Went in at around 11:30am and had to hunt around for a table. Found the only one …
P. H.
Good spot, well located and cheap drinks. Food is decent!
G. S.
I was served quickly and politely. Food came to table in a short time. Chicken wings, pizza and chips were all hot and tasty.
J. M.
Drinks are a good price ..
N. P.
Lovely meal here with friends. Great pint too.
S. E.
Brilliant pricing especially for London.. Good vibes to start off a Friday night
B. R.
Pleasant staff but freezing inside today. Good breakfast options becoming more plant based friendly. Tim Weatherspoon maybe a rabid brexit.eer but the offer is worthwile.
C. P.
Amazing service, staff are friendly and pub is covid safe.
Great bar and a credit to the chain.
5/5
J. W.
Lovely pub in elephant and castle that serves food very much a mix of people from.all walks of life and dont worry about going there on your own as theres lots of lovely people in the same boat that you can chat to and make friends with the only thing I'll say about this place is the manager he let's the place down he refused people from scotland to take their money as it was Scottish notes yet three times he took it before then he set the security on them for no reason when asked why he wouldnt take their cash on the 4th occasion it was extremely upsetting not only to the scottish couple but to myself and the person I was with as we had only just met them yet we were asked to leave? To me this manager has seriously let the pub down we were 2 couples who were having a lovely time and were left upset and humiliated not to mention mortified at two massive security guys approaching us when we bothered no one and we had to leave:( I've been back since and took another friend but daytime on a saturday and no security guards were on at the time I went I can only thank God I didnt have Scottish notes to spend or I would have been asked to leave a second time! This would be a five star establishment if they got rid of the idiot who is managing the place lol Scottish pounds is not monopoly money its uk tender do ur homework
S. F.
A great little pub. It's Wetherspoon so you know what you're getting. I gave this a 4 star as they could have done with an extra member of staff or two and there appeared to be a problem with the staff taking the wrong food to the wrong table a number of times.
R. J.
Inside very busy too many partitions outside smokers allowed to smoke in non smoking area🤔
J. M.
Your average ordinary everyday spoons!
A. B.
Sometimes it s good sometimes it s bad ! Long queue at night not always the place available. 3 waiters are really good the rest no.
R. K.
I forget how great pubs like this can be for working during the day. Coffee refills are free. Food is good. Then it transforms into a great pub!
J. W.
The food was good value .
Y. F.
Great service with great employees. Nothing to ask for and 10 out of 10 would go again.
C. K.
Fabulous breakfast although its a pub
M. E. L.
Nice place to have delicious breakfast.
K. S.
Excellent place. Had good coffee and decent toast for £2.15. Been asked twice (and politely too) if all was okay. Going to make it a regular pit stop.
S. J.
Cheap English breakfast with unlimited coffee, quality worth the price
M. L.
Good place to have a full breakfast. The prices are good, the food is nice and the staff is kind. They also have free Wi-Fi.
Recommended for travelers like me.
V. c.
Great pub
C. F.
Standard pre-Ministry of Sound watering hole, where all of the regulars and DJs meet up before a night out. Very average as Wetherspoons go, they have good nights and bad in terms of staffing and organisation. Agree that they could use a refit, especially the stairs and corridor towards the toilets, which have smelled pretty nasty for the past 3 years.
G. S.
Decent prices and spacious also served quicker than they ever do in Liverpool Wetherspoons where sfaff talk more than serve
A. M.
Reasonable price beer
Over priced food I.e amount of food don't justify price
D. H.
Happy friendly staff.food excellent came out clean hot and fresh really fast service.we were asked twice if everything was ok and we have had a brilliant evening here xx
K. A.
Lively and busy. Nice decor. Friendly staff, and as always inexpensive food and drink.
E. V.
👍
E.
Seats are stained with the history of Saaf London. The perfect balance of Students & Old Alcoholics... could be more natural light and toilets are not disabled accessible
D. F.
The food was surprisingly good, great price, great portion and no problems. Great selection of drinks too drink was dirt cheap!!
J. G.
Prices of drinks is good. Food is ok. Service is pretty good. But it seems as if some people spend all their time there from morning till late at night.
E. P.
Weatherspoon is the same pub. Good meals, beers, price and songs sometimes. You can Go with some friends and enjoy there
K. C.
Always a pleasure to go to this lovely pub with excellent customer service
J. M.
Lovely people work here, especially the guy with glasses, sound bloke, however, they don’t give you Stella glasses with your stella😫🙄 and you occasionally see the odd fly floating about...
J. H.
Cheap for London! Good staff, food and drink
J. H.
Great local boozer, food and drink available at reasonable prices
M. D.
Regular haunt before going to the match. Great location, excellent prices and exactly what you expect from a wetherspoons. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area
R. G.
You might assume that this would be another bland Wetherspoons but the low prices, plentiful seating and convenient location mean that this pub is a people watching paradise, albeit not the sort of people watching you might engage in at a more conventional location such as Soho or Bond Street.
A mixture of locals, former gang members (now pensioners), younger thugs, waylaid commuters and art students make for an interesting dynamic. A little grubby and occasionally violent, it's nonetheless one of the most interesting Wetherspoons you'll ever visit.
M. F.
Had pizza and nachos and a couple of pints.
Service was good as was the food. This is a busy Wetherspoons pub, close to Elephant and castle.
C. H.
It's a weatherspoons so you know what ya getting.
Staff very friendly
M. O. C.
Food was good, staff were nice, pints took too long
G. L.
Wonderful pub that has one of the best Sunday roasts. Fish and chips are great too. Strongly recommended.
H. S.
Excellent Wetherspoons bar.
First class service.
Good seating arrangements for food and drinks.
Good location.
Felt very comfortable here.
R. R.
It is not covid 19 friendly tho they try to make it safe for everyone. I think the fault is not on them but in the people who go there
D. C.
Cheap drinks available for less than £3
D. O.
Staff are very good food came fairly fast and very friendly
I. d. C.
It's a bit on the terrible but the prices are amazing and after a few drinks it all looks nicer. I can't recommend it enough if you want to get more than tipsy
f. G. (.
Wetherspoons pub with out front drinking at tables. There's a smoking area and non smoking area nice place reminds me of cafe style bars over at kilburn.
s. n.
Great atmosphere a place one can relax and grab a pint or two not much queing a large joint with friendly people doing their own thing. I had a great time.
M. J.
Lively atmosphere, great staff but please, next time, don't be so mean with the portion of baked beans in the vegetarian brunch!
M. B.
I expected nothing and was still disappointed. Food was one step from being plastic but the beer was good. Cheap for London which gets it 3-stars.
M. W.
Nice and central pub. Good service and food, particularly their fish and chips which always runs out first of all their food on its menu
A. H.
It's a busy Weatherspoon pub. Reliable beer and food at an excellent price but the place is overdue some decoration and I'd advise you to keep valuables close.
J. S.
Spot on it is what it is and food was good
P. B.
Good value, nice staff
R. C.
It's a 'Spoon' s so you know the deal. Kinda like Carphone Warehouse with booze, so not what you'd call historical. Beer's good, food OK
l. g.
Good Breakfast for a fiver free refills
S. B.
It's good to come for a drink with friends, it's a little bit expensive but still excellent, the place is clean and tidy and they take good care of you.
D. P.
A nice friendly pub
R. B.
Great beer selection, normal prices. However, too noisy for me, and have uncomfortable chairs for longer stays.
E. S.
Good weatherspoons, usually quick service even when busy. Very diverse clientele which can be interesting if you are into people watching.
C. S.
Great location but spoilt by very smelly mens toilets and a rather lame ale selection of IPA and golden ales. Where is the mild or bitter?
M. A.
Started with a filter coffee then moved onto my favourite ale, Abbott Reserve. Staff were very courteous and efficient.
S. A. J.
Great weatherspoons!
m. f.
A bit scruffy amongst the other revamped pubs along this stretch, but quick food service and good range of beers
B.
It's one of those tattier JD wetherspoons. Bit tired inside and outside has columns of shutterboard. Food was fine and staff pleasant.b
S. T.
Rocking place, good crowd, good service. Can use app to order food and beverages, which really good thing rather waiting in queue.
M. E.
Too many students, too many students that get given priority by staff that are students, but the staff are friendly..,,,, some of them! 😏
L. D.
Just another Spoon's. Food was quick to arrive. Using the app to order food and drink direct to the table is amazing.
R. D.
Very good atmosphere
d. h.
It's a wetherspoons so it's pretty much what u expect. Bang average
A. L.
Went yesterday for a beer, it was Saturday night so it was really crowded. The only table available was very dirty and no one came to clean it.
R. L.
The main reason for 3stars is the fact that as a regular patron I'm and the staff are always directing customers to the toilets as you cannot see the sign which been pointed out to the management over a period of years and it as still not been addressed. How much is a sign?
D. I.
I enjoyed this place, good food, good drinks and good prices. Very visited by locals, not many tourists.
S. A. (.
Not bad.
R. K.
Food is only okay. Fast service. Have to use their app to order for table service which is fine.
R. S.
Fantastic value! Do a great breakfast. Love coming here hungover for a pick me up
D. A.
Friday lunchtime was very busy and service was a bit slow. Food & beer was good.
S. s.
Good sevice friendly staff. Mix of people go in there business, back packers and locals. Prefer this Wetherspoons to the one in Peckham .
M. T.
Your average Wetherspoons experience, cheap wine tho!
R. C.
Good located spoons which are always great places for something to eat or a few drinks, can get very busy though!
M. P.
Popped in for a pint. Pub would do with more ales. Because its mostly lager on the tap. No idea about food and service. So I gave it a Good score.
D. M.
This place is dirt cheap compared to other restaurants in London. Food and drinks are of good quality and staff is really nice and friendly.
L. N.
Shout out to the staff at this pub!!!
You can see how hard their all working and they deserve some recognition!!! 👏👏
A.
Very comfy wetherspoons, fast food service through the app, only critique and as that I wasnt able to order drinks through the app which I can do at other Wetherspoons
S. Q.
Cheap and cheerful chain pub. Good value for money and quick service and you can order using the Wetherspoons app!
O. M.
Lovely bar in the heart of Elephant and Castle
D. C.
Great value. Good coffee. Friendly chap behind the bar. Gluten free breakfast was good.
J. M. N. M.
It's big an cozy, cheap and it has lot of different bears to choose from...
I definitely recommend it
K. R.
Nice if you like a place surrounded by smelly old people, chavs and bouncers who think they're guarding Beyonce. Still, cheap drinks and food.
N. H.
Good food not expensive big area large choice menu including kids pleasent staff
T.
Great spoons. Everything you want. Cheap drinks and good. The app makes this place even better
Z. D.
Best and cheapest Wetherspoon in town. Great food and large variety of drinks. I recommend this place honestly!
I. O.

P. Q.
Good pub
L. W.
Nice place to have drink and eat. You can order your drinks and food from your table Via an app
M. L.
First time in one of these , cheap drink, cheap food , love it, one small problem was some portions are too small , otherwise brilliant
C. D. M.
Another great J.D.Wetherspoon, excellent selection of beer and food, at very cheap prices.
A. O.
Lovely staff, and definitely the spot to have a nice chilled pint.
J. K.
A Wetherspoons very close to Elephant & Castle tube station and about a five minute walk from Elephant & Castle national rail station ..
Needless to say always a good selection of real ale on tap & food at a reasonable price ..
S. M.
Got really drunk and lost my boxers in here. Excellent night
d. s.
This wetherspoons is in the elephant and castle. Not far from the tube station and the shopping centre. Friendly clean an efficient.. good atmosphere
P. K.
Wetherspoons is the best.....if you think you're getting something other than wetherspoons......don't go there..Super respect the spoons!!!
a. t.
Good place for a drink
M. S.
A clean bar with attentive and knowledgeable staff. The atmosphere was nice and conducive to having a good time.
M. D.
Should improve customer service:( was only fwe people's working
m. m.
nice pub with good beers.
O. H.
Spacious, but a bit shabby and dirty. Good cheap food, not pretentious, satisfying selection of ales and beers.
J. W.
The beer was spot on good atmosphere friendly staff nice place to spend an evening
G. C.
Well priced drinks as apposed to usual London prices, good food, can be busy on weekends
J. B.
Had lunch here on more than one occasion. Service is prompt even during the busy lunch period. Would recommend
p. d.
Great friendly service with competitive prices for London. Always a prompt service for my breakfast with chips.
G. L.
A nothing flash about the establish, but good range of No frill bar meals and snacks and a reasonable price (recommend if you want a quick snack).
L. W.
Loved this pub
W. S. M.
Nice place to drink busy staff but they will look after you.
R. A.
Great price. Food didn't take long and it was cheap! Great value for money! Recommend it
f. s.
Just a regular Wetherspoons. A lot of locals and cheap booze. Good show though as the area is rough and always something to see.
T. M.
Nice pub with a great atmosphere. It's busy from time to time, but well worth a visit.
n. s.
Not the best quality and not the best design but definitely have good value for money.
Perfect for larger groups.
T. S.
Not great even for a spoons. Very cheap but zero atmosphere and stupidly busy.
C. V.
Food is okay, service is good depending on how busy it is which is to be expected. Toilets are pretty gross.
A. C.
Great atmosphere, good service and reasonably priced drinks and food
I. T. (. G.
Cheap drinks (for London) before seeing a show at Southwark Playhouse, great app to order food and drinks at your table.
n. a.
Good service, but that burger was horrible!!
I guess I paid the price equivalent to the quality
C. C.
Bit of a mix bag. Typical Spoons. Service good, I'm always wary when there's security on the door in the early evening
G. W.
Only two bar staff at any one time.when ordering a pint. Expect lesser. Big heads on beer.
S. M.
Yeah! Great Vibe.... friendly staff with honest advice/ opinion....and right across the road from the tube station.... LOVE IT!
A. D.
Staff in there are friendly and the atmosphere is very good
A. M.
Love this place no matter what time of day or night it is ;-)
K. J.
My food was not cooked properly at all. Rubber and blatantly nasty.
Received a full refund from the manager.
T. U.
It’s alright place to get drinks, and their food ain’t half bad
I. S.
Great mixed grill but table service a bit slow, this pub is starting to look tired.
B. B.
Cheapest breakfast! Three pounds for a full breakfast. I would definitely go back here
M. B.
Great staff here, fab spoons!
S. F.
A very complete pub. I liked the tipically and not expensive English breakfast! All very tasty!
H. f. L.
Love place and good beer at good price
A.
Not a bad Wetherspoons but could do with 'doing up'. Staff are friendly and drinks are cheap for central London
C. R.
Not bad but very expensive compare to other wetherspoon
S. N.
Nice pub. Very busy on a Friday night. Not the best service
J. C. (. b. h.
good spoons, nice and cheap, great location. have witnessed some unsavoury going-ons from the clientele however
L. C.
No lemon Hooch so had to be 3*. Otherwise decent visit service was good and I enjoyed my self here.
B. S.
Poor service, but plenty of staff seem to be in a dither, although food service good
