Visited on a Sunday afternoon without reservation and we managed to get seats outdoors with a good view of Trafalgar Square. The cocktails were pricy at £15 each but that’s expected for the location and they had creative offerings including hot gin and coffee chocolate cocktails that we enjoyed. The stools weren’t super comfortable but the best part was the big outdoors heater and blankets they offered which warmed us up in the 7 degree weather!

We visited for a couple of cocktails on Friday evening, the rooftop was full so we sat indoors. The decor is lovely and well thought through. Staff are attentive and friendly, the cocktails were unique and tasted great. It has a very relaxed, sophisticated vibe which is exactly what we were looking for.

We sat outside - the bar stool/table combo was not comfortable IMO as I couldn't rest my feet. Starters was alright (prawns, calamari and charcuterie board). My main of burger wasn't nice, It was very dry like eating cardboard. Lovely staff but slow and not efficient: 2 different waiters offered to get the table water. My cocktail only arrived as we were finishing our starters. There was a long wait between starters and mains, we chose not to have desserts. I hope this is a one off as the venue has beautiful views, however, we will not be returning :(

Came just for drinks this time but I always come back here! The food is great, the drinks are phenomenal, definitely the best piña colada’s! The staff are always friendly and accommodating, I love it🥰 the view is unmatched by any other rooftop bar! You won’t find a better view in London trust me I’ve been to them all. (Can’t add the videos I have, which are better than the pictures) but definitely recommend you check out for yourself, I won’t spoil it.

We really enjoyed our experience here this past weekend. The food was delicious, the service was great and the cocktails were wonderful. The view really is something special and it was nice to have a table to ourselves in a corner - it felt really personal and cozy. Yes, as some of the other reviews say, it's definitely on the pricier side, but for the view and atmosphere, it's definitely worth it! I'd really recommend trying here. Thank you so much to the hostesses as well who were so kind from start to finish - they were wonderful at making our experience that much better too.

Great place in London for a few cocktails. Celebrated my 30th here. Amazing views. There was a minimum spend of £35 and a stay for 90 minutes but after 2 cocktails and a few photographs the time goes over very quick and the bill is over £35 easily.

Favourite place to eat and drink near trafalgar Square, you don't need a reservation if you arrive early evening and the views are spectacular on a nice day. Food is Japanese inspired and very tasty. Reccomend the burger and the fried squid. Really great wines as well, overall amazing ambiance I always take the opportunity to visit when I find myself in the area like I did recently!

I was taken aback by the stunning rooftop view, complemented by their luxurious selection of food and drink, to make a perfect evening out. The staff were observant and friendly, and willing to take lots of pictures. Would recommend to anyone looks for a nice, laid back outing in the centre of London.

Had an amazing evening here, we came in a big group and the staff were attentive from the moment we walked in paying attention to every little detail. The view, interior and general vibe is beautiful and honestly mesmerising, the heaters kept us warm and cosy and the music set the mood. The cocktails we tried were all delicious and unique, and the food was even better. We got sharing dishes for our table so tried a variety of different plates and there were absolutely smashing - especially the cheese fondue and the camembert with brioche! This is now one of my favourite stops in London and can’t wait to bring more of my friends here! Special shout out to the flawless staff for making it an evening to remember :)

All praise for the professional staff, we felt really special. I was impressed that they have real small towels in the toilet instead of paper towels for hands. It’s definitely one of the nicer type of rooftop bars I’ve been to. This one has more of a classy, date feel to it and the prices of the drinks reflect that. The drink with the sorbet was fantastic! It was on point and it was quite a quieter bar where you could hear each other. I definitely would recommend this place and would visit again! Great stuff.

I booked online through their website, choosing the the option for drinks. When we arrived we were advised that our booking meant to be for the other bar and the host said that this a common issue for them. She tried to accommodate our request and provided a table at the back side while she was aware that we specifically came for the view. Hereafter, she promised to follow up with us in case of no shows as the front tables were empty, which she did not as it became very busy. The staff was polite and the drinks fine but heads up if you go there for the view and book online.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and we couldn't have picked a better place. The food was phenomenal. The staff are extremely friendly, cheerful and can't do enough for you. The location is excellent with great views over Trafalgar Square. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Great place to spend an hour or so having drink and watching London from above. Service is a bit slow (my only reason for 4 not 5 stars) but once you are served the staff are happy and helpful. Cocktails are both tasteful and pretty.

St James rooftop bar in Charing Cross is situated on the seventh floor of the Trafalgar Hotel. We recommend that you book in advance as it’s very popular and there is limited seating in some areas especially if there is a private hire. This lovely rooftop is split into two areas. You can opt for The Gallery with high stools giving you beautiful views over London including the London Eye, Trafalgar Square and St Paul’s. Alternatively you can have a drink at The Deck, their sundrenched conservatory that has open and covered seating. We can’t resist having a cocktail when the sun is shining. We had an Aviation: Plymouth gin, Luxardo maraschino, violet liquer, lemon juice (£15). This was presented in a coupe glass and was floral and refreshing. We also tried a French 75: Plymouth gin, champagne, lemon, sugar syrup (£16). It was crisp, very refreshing and so easy to drink! Lastly we had a Not From Around Here (£16) with Italicus, Bergamont, Campari, Prosecco Franklin and Sons soda water. It was served in what I like to call a large Gin Balloon glass and, similar to the others, was a perfect summery drink. They also have Mocktail options priced at £10 and £11 and a selection of Prosecco, champagne and rose, white and red wines. We had a Savingnon Blanc French 2016 for £30 a bottle. It was the cheapest on the menu and others were priced nearer the mid £40 – £50 mark. They also offer a few food options with the drinks including charcuterie, salmon flatbread and bao buns. You also receive nuts with your drinks which they are happy to keep filling up! The Rooftop St James bar in Charing Cross is a gorgeous place to relax in the sun with friends, family and work colleagues. Naturally it is more expensive (service is also added) so consider it for impressing a client or a date or just go up for a couple! The staff were friendly and attentive, the cocktails were fantastic and the whole atmosphere was relaxed.

ONLY WORTH THE PRICE IF THE SEATS ARE NICE... When I first came to Vista it was called a different name (Rooftop at the Rockwell, if memory serves) and was in essence the seats around the edge and a very small portable bar. It has changed massively over the past decade and now takes up the entire roof space. I've held at least 3 parties here, before it pursued it's corporate clientele. It's lost it's secret venue status by miles (that dreaded problem with Social Media) and you'll often have to queue to get a very poor seat. And this is where the title for this piece comes in. Unless you've got the views over Trafalgar Square that this bar is famed for, move on elsewhere. It's Hotel expensive. So a standard Glass of house white wine is going to hit you £9 + tip. No Prosecco on the menu & champagne starts at £14 per glass + tip. Cocktails are probably the best value for money. I had a very decent 4 rum Zombie, my guest a sweet but perfectly reasonable cocktail named the Jam Factory at £15 & £12 respectively, these would be comparable to any good cocktail bar. But the only real reason to come here for the views, which are truly spectacular on a sunny afternoon and watching the sun set over a London skyline. Without that, there's really not much to say about the venue. It's set up for the corporate market, so has no personal vibe, lost its secret appeal and is expensive. But always worth a visit if you can get those views.

This is a hidden gem in the heart of London! Secluded on top of the St. James Hotel right by Trafalger Square it offers a stunning view over Central London. Drinks aren't cheap and the good parts are often closed due to private functions but well worth a visit to gather some strength after a half marathon of sightseeing.

Had dinner in the Rooftop bar as we stayed in the hotel for two nights. It’s a very nice rooftopbar with a stunning view and the sharefood is more then just ok. The staff is doing everything they can to make it a wonderfull experience but it misses just that last bit of sparkle... Also a fiver for a 20cc coke is a bit over the top, isn’t it?

We had a wonderful time. After booking (and paying a substantial booking deposit) we made our way upstairs and were greeted by Hannah. Apologetically, she told us as we did not live together and there were no seats available outside, we would have to wait downstairs in the hotel lobby. She informed us that it could take anywhere from half an hour to an hour for a table to become free, but as we were honest about our living situation, she would try to put us at the front of the queue for an outside table. Fast forward ten minutes later, we are being seated at possibly the best table on the entire terrace! Beautiful views, not too cold, right at the edge. A waiter promptly came for our drinks order (delicious cocktails!). As we were conscious of having a time limit, we attempted to order our food and wine as soon as the cocktails arrived, but the waiter politely suggested that we wait until the food arrives for the wine as we still had cocktails. This was nice because as we don't often venture out anywhere as fancy as this, we felt like we were in good hands and not being encouraged to rush our food and drinks. The food itself was absolutely sublime, and with us both being vegan the menu wasn't extensive, but I would highly recommend this spot to other vegans! Honestly, one of the best nights of the year for me. The staff were so attentive and friendly, even topping up our wine for us when our glasses looked empty. Thank you Hannah and the rest of the team for being so kind to us two on probably your most hectic night of the year. We will definitely be returning once lockdown has ended- and our bank accounts recovered a little !

It is very comfortable and very friendly staff here. the main view point was taken so we were in the back but then the staff advised us when more space became available to move to the main viewing area. I went on my birthday, a nice place but not the food, I asked for a salmon and it came cold, when I asked to heat it up I was told it was served cold! Smoked salmon on a hot plate being served cold doesn't seem like a good combination to me, it tastes very strong too.

Couldn’t be more pleased with this establishment! Staff were gracious and welcoming, espescially since we didn’t have a reservation. We were seated immediately (unfortunately couldn’t be seated on the edge overlook due to Covid restrictions). The drinks were exquisite and had wonderful flavor. We also ended up getting ChocolateFondant to finish the night, and one was perfect for sharing between the wife and I. They were priced reasonably for the environment, cocktails were £14, but they were well worth it. I can’t speak to the food, but if you’re looking for a good date spot for drinks, or a great spot to just take in the view, I can’t recommend it enough.

The Rooftop St James is a really special spot. The Jasmin Spritz is divine, a must try, different seating arrangements around the bar and restaurant was cool, the outdoor rooftop space has a spectacular view of Central London, Trafalgar Square being your back drop, with plenty of space for an instagram moment! We went here for my friends Birthday (they knew it was her Birthday) and the staff were superb in treating us to one of the best view spots in the outside rooftop bar area to enjoy our last Spritz and 30-40 minutes of our evening. Would happily go back here another time.

My new fav spot in London... We arrived on a busy Friday, clearly a full house. Regardless of the amount of guests, we were greeted by incredibly friendly staff who couldn't have gone more out of their way to accommodate us. Cocktails were perhaps the best in town, the view was incredible, service impeccable and the music couldn't have been more perfect. The sweetest ambience to watch the sun go down over the city. Can't wait for my next visit!

It was cold last night so we were expecting it to be a bit uncomfortable out on the rooftop over looking Trafalgar Square. But I think the weather made it possible we could walk in on a Saturday night, it's usually fully booked. We were quickly sat at a bench with an amazing view over the square. The glass partition sheilded us from the wind. We order cocktails. Expensive cocktails. (£15 - £20 each excluding the 12.5% service) but they were good and delivered with great service. It started to rain a bit so staff opened the canopy to keep us dry and passed around blankets. All in all it was a great experience and a special treat.

After moving the date and time so many times the staff at the Rooftop were so patient and when we arrived the staff were very welcoming. I surprised my friend with this rooftop bar and the food and drinks were amazing. I was not able to have my French Martini but the staff were able to create a new drink for me and they named it 'Peachy Stuff' which was fantastic. We ordered the ribs, chips and pea's which were to die for and to show how much we enjoyed it the two ladies beside us were unsure of what to order and they took our recommendations and ordered everything we had. We will definitely be back in the summer!!!!

I was apprehensive booking this place based on some of the previous reviews, but this place was great. I booked ahead just to make sure there would be no issues on the day, all was went. We had a warm welcome from the reception in the hotel, it took a while to find my reservation as they spelt my name wrong but we had s chuckle. Then the lift to the top was fast and smooth. Another nice welcome. We were shown to our table. We couldn't sit near the edge due to weather but our seats were all good. The staff were friendly and attentive. We just had a few rounds of drinks as we had dinner booked elsewhere. Prices were ok for the area. The bar was fully stocked. The bartender behind was mixing some experimental drinks and we were lucky enough to try one. It was so yummy. As the weather got better the place got busier and there was a nice Vibe. The views from the balcony are great, left to right. I will deffo go again. Thanks.

Brilliant bar located right the west of London - perfect views and amazing food with the drinks being made to perfection. If you can and the weather is suitable make sure you book a table / area with a view out to the city as it’s amazing and really made the whole visit.

The bar is situated close to Trafalgar Square and decorated to a high standard. The teams are very professional and friendly with stunning views on the top floor of the rooftop. Covered a large corporate event here where the venue was decorated with great canapés food made on site, with the chef even walking around greeting and mingling with guests. The views of London were epic, especially during sunset time. Great selection of drinks and food at typical London prices. Good for after work drinks and receptions

Booked the rooftop bar for after dinner drinks. It was unfortunately shut the day of my booking because of snow, I got an email informing me of such. The staff were extremely apologetic, offered me a table in the main lobby bar and a glass of bubbles each to say sorry. When the Mrs wasn’t feeling well by the time we got there (probably because of the cold) the staff provided her with complimentary hot lemon and honey. Great location and views over London. Not the highest roof top bar, but still good for viewing some landmarks you wont see from other bars. Excellent service, and well designed interiors & outside space that felt upmarket and like you were in a place fit for a special occassipn or romantic night ou. Not cheap, but you pay a bit more for the setting.

View is amazing! and the new bar is really pretty. however the food comes in really small portions and the new menu is not very diverse , I preferred the old menu before the re-module as it had much more range and really suited the chilled rooftop bar vibe ! We came to have a start of my birthday morning to the rooftop and it was incredibly positive experience. All the team was extremely polite and professional. The manager of the rooftop bar, Westley , was a very nice gentlemen who greeted us and wished me happy birthday. Food was made and presented very well. Also , As I am non drinker, they made me an excellent raspberry coctail. Cannot leave without the attention fact, that they brought a plate with written Happy Birthday and Mochi. Thank You for great start of our day, definitely will come back.

It has beautiful views of London including Nelson's Column and Trafalgar Square. The drinks menu didn't have a huge variety. Even though there is a note on the menu saying that off menu drinks could be ordered, we were told by our waitress that no other drinks could be made. For the service you receive it seems overpriced.
