Reviews of The Rose & Crown, Ealing
I. M.
Lovely pub. Friendly and super fast service. Delicious Fullers beers plus some good lagers. Enjoyed the house Sauvignon Blanc last night. It's close to home and one if our favourites.
J. D.
Top pub, lovely beer garden, amazing and super quick service, brilliantly polite staff and clean facilities. Very impressed with this pub! Will be going back.
Also surprisingly delicious food!
B. J.
We really enjoyed the food. Excellent vegan burger (speaking as a meat eater). Generously sized kids meals too so I got a bit of a chicken burger too. Staff friendly, good atmosphere!
S. P.
Excellent pub. Fabulous Sunday roast, well kept beers and very Covid friendly.
D. T.
Everything you could hope for in a Fuller's community pub. My visit was excellent. An absolutely wonderful crowd in spending their money. The staff, second to none. Really happy to serve and help along the way. Thank you for a wonderful visit
A. P.
Best pub we have been in on our visit to South Ealing. Awarded 5 stars as no one going round wearing offensive t shirts (see Castle Inn review). Seriously this place is buzzing with people eating good food or drinking a quiet pint. This is a pub that has lots of different areas where you could eat in a group or just have a quiet pint on your own. It's non threatening, and if a female you would completely safe. Excellent well trained staff. Will definitely come again when we are this way. Well done manager you have a lovely professional pub
M.
Nice pub, food was smashing, reasonably priced. Fairly big inside and a nice back garden too. Friendly atmosphere, vibes were good, would definately go again 5/5 👍
S. Y.
Absolutely wonderful pub!
Staff were super friendly, helpful and service was great.
Food was utterly cracking! Seriously delicious gastro pub grub.
Loved it!

Update to my previous review which was only of the cider. Said we’d return for the Sunday Roast which happened a couple of weeks ago. Very nice roast, too many of the seasonal veggies, but that’s my issue with them and apparently they were very good. Portions are huge and the Yorkshire Pudding great, roast beef also delicious. Will come back as it’s almost my local and as previously said the place is very homely.

Lovely homely pub. Roast dinners look amazing and will definitely be coming back here. However the mulled cider is not good. As it cools its tastes like vinegar.....shame.
S. P.
Great atmosphere; feels like a small town pub with all its charms. Great stamped wallpaper choice.
Food, fantastic. We may have been biased by the having-not-slept-sandwiched-on-a-plane-for-seven-hours, and the oh-god-what-time-is-it-i'm-starving, but holy hell you guys make a mean pie and fish & chips.
Delicious and devoured. 10/10
R. T.
Wow what a great little pub this is tucked behind St Marys church. Visited for Sunday lunch and portions were very generous, roast beef was excellent and home made Yorkshire was outstanding. Loads of veg and very nice horseradish. No room for pudding! Pinot Grigio was very nice and Fullers Pride was very well kept. All staff were very friendly and will be back again for sure. Starters of Brie, chicken liver parfait and squid were all excellent. will be back here for sure. Well done to all.
D. R.
Nice family meal to celebrate our son's flat purchase. Had the fish and sweet potato chips. Very nice.
A.
Very good traditional English pub. If the pie is on the menu it is well worth it. Beer is well kept and there is a good selection to choose from.
J. A.
Good Food
Amazing atmosphere.
However, There was a hair on my plate.
That is little bit disgusting.
They got my complain in a good way that was good.
D. H.
Good pub with good choice of seating inside and out nice garden next to a church. Great choice of beers whisky, gin and shorts
Good pub food, staff good.
S. J.
A beautifully presented premises both inside and out. Lots of interior space with plenty of areas to be cozy in. They have a pretty impressive menu too.
L. A.
Had a roast dinner with my flatmates. While most of the meal was very well done, the potatoes weren't the best, tasted as if they had been quickly microwaved. That being said, the decor was lovely and the beers were very clear and tasty. Good experience overall, but maybe just having a slightly off night.
F. A. (.
Great garden and location. Lovely staff.
R. R.
Tucked away behind church. Public car park 20yards if no vacant spots outside.,(outside restricted rush hours)
Good Fullers pub. Good food. Pleasant outback Garden dining if weather suitable. Popular place.
M. M.
A classic pub! Great beer garden where we enjoyed a pleasant pre dinner drink. We didn’t try the food but it looked good from what we could see.
C. W.
Lovely pub the food was delicious. Very clean and lovely set up. Staff very polite. Only could do with a disabled toilet facility
T. D.
Excellent pub. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Service was top notch and respected all the current guidelines on hygiene.
Food was pricey but fresh and tasted great.
Thank you 👍
A. H.
Great place to meet up with friends for a drink or two and have a meal - good menu.
K. W.
Good solid Sunday dinner, beer in excellent condition. Plenty of room when we went.
A. J.
As expected upon arrival, the place was quite full and a lot of tables reserved, but the staff were friendly and helped us get seated quickly.
Between the three of us, we ordered the lamb, beef and chicken roasts (the three staples!). The lamb and the beef were excellent, the chicken was also great, but part of it was incredibly dry where it had clearly been cooked weirdly.
Rest of the roast was as expected - peas, carrots and a roasted butternut squash for the vegetables.
The potatoes, however, leave a lot to be desired. They were very dry and the outside had lost it's crunch - unfortunately a very signature sign of potatoes just being "kept warm" all day or re-heated in a microwave.
All in all not a bad experience, and will keep it in mind again if in the area.
M. S.
Really good old fashioned pub with a great atmosphere and a good selection of beers
R. L.
Absolutely excellent beer and food. Very nice garden. Wonderful atmosphere. 100% recommend.
G. C.
Lovely pub very close to the Underground and nearby parking. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
A. C.
Great surprise around Ealing. Hidden gem of relax and good food. Fair selection of beer and alcohol free drinks. Unmissable.
R. S.
Hi had a nice experience. Good beer, helpful and friendly staff.

First time visitor and I loved it. Decent sized outdoor area, great atmosphere, good food (loved the bacon jam!) and attentive staff. Looking forward to my next visit.
A. G.
Good food, lovely garden out back with newly added covered terrace area and also covered booths in the garden too. Nice seletion of beer and very helpful staff.
J. M.
After having a chat with Sue the fantastic manager here we decided to return and give the place another chance and wow, were we happy! Met Sue when I arrived and had a nice chat, food was plentiful in portion size and quality was excellent. We all had starters and Roast beef main but no one could manage a pudding. Beer as good as ever and the wine was enjoyed by all. I really do recommend this place and will be back for sure. many thanks Rose & Crown for getting me to give it another chance. Keep up the good work.
J. H.
Traditional English pub. Staff and friendly, food is fantastic. The wood fire 🔥 makes the place cost as well.
M.
Absolutely amazing Sunday roast and lovely atmosphere, stuff very friendly
D. W.
Absolutely amazing..they have redone the whole garden to an extremely high standard.. food and drinks perfect and the staff the best in Ealing by a long shot..well worth a visit
P. M.
Love our local pub. Fab pub good, this evening I went for the steak and ale pie followed by sticky toffee pudding - delicious!! Staff very engaging and strongly service oriented. In the summer the pub comes in to its own with it’s fabulous beer garden.
H. M.

This is a nice pub, with a lovely local feel, very nice food with a garden area. And seems very welcoming to family's with pets ! It's location is just off the main road, behind St Mary's church. It's one of those pubs that you feel you need to go back to !
c. t.
Great food, prompt fast service, made to feel very welcome by warm, friendly staff.
A. C.
Good quality gastro pub. Great for Sunday lunch, which usually attracts a fair number of families. The roasts are massive proportions so make sure you're hungry if you order one. Lots of tables, huge garden, friendly staff. Oh yeah, decent selection of beer too.
J. W.
Lively atmosphere and lots of space. Garden is good with lots of space
B. D.
Great pub. Lovely beer garden. Always good service.
J. T.
I've been here two times so far, and both visits have been wonderful! It is very child and dog friendly. The Sunday roast was one of the best I've had! it is a great place to just hang out for the afternoon and enjoy a pint.
R. P.
Good food, drink & service with a pleasant surprise - it's not only much bigger inside than it looks outside, but it also has a deceptively large & quiet beer garden too 🙂
N. S.
Beautiful pub, amazing beer garden and really friendly and efficient staff. Food is great too!
J. H.
Lovely garden and good pub atmosphere

An excellent pub to go to with friends or family.
We spent a week in London at BENNYS B and B and ate out in the evening in this welcoming pub.
There is a garden outside which gives it a real "cachet".
The staff is very nice and pleasant.
The food is good and fresh. Everything is made in the kitchen. We tasted all the food in the lunch menu and it was excellent.
Special thanks to Jeremy the French manager who treated us with a nice glass of wine and pint of beer on our way home.
We will definitely come back to this place!
R. A. N.
A quiet out of the way hostelry with a large back garden. An ideal venue for open air gatherings on sunny summer days. If you are looking for somewhere to escape the noise and the crowds then this may be the place for you. It also serves light meals and snacks and it is famous for its Sunday roast. The garden is both child and dog friendly.
I. M.
Lovely pub with very big garden area.
J. S.
Perfect venue perfect food with friendly service
D. G.
Lovely pub with great food
j. e.
We had a nice meal been there a few times when visiting our Son in Ealing so definitely going again I am sure
J. F.
Staff always have a nice welcoming smile when you walk in and they can't do enough for you. Whether you're there for a couple of drinks or a hearty meal, you are treated with respect and care. It has a great warming feel and the food is amazing!
G. R.
Excellent service and great beers. Do try their new additions to the Starters/Sharers menu.
Totally recommend it!
V. E.
Good wholesome food and beer. Friendly staff.
J. M.
Friendly place with relaxing garden seating outside and skylights in the newer dining room addition. Of course there is the usual cozy, dark traditional pub at the heart. I had the excellent Blackened Salmon main course and it was delicious, served on a substantial mixed salad with roasted new potatoes. Fuller's Honeydew to drink. Yum! Highly recommended!
M.
Only go there once a year for school reunion event.Did not have a meal this year as last year had a awful sausage & mash meal & vowed then to never have a meal there again. The sausages contained round bits in them like mini ball bearings. presumably bone.not impressed with response from pub 'should have said something at the time's yes I should have.Still could have been offered a complimentary meal this year to appease the customer, but was not offered one.Was not looking for recompense but could still have offered complimentary cup of coffee but was not. After all they rely presumably on recommendations to use there pub ie get more trade. Was told this year 'oh it was you' who put review on pubs website.Yes it was me.only thing was good to see children / babies admitted into premises.my view on meal I had last year still stands 'awful' someone I knew there this year said he had a pie & that was half baked ie not nice so not only me picked up on the food as not brilliant.happy christmas to all.
S. S.
The garden is spacious and cozy and the staff are very kind. The inside looks really nice as well, can't wait to sit inside soon.
T. D.
Family and pet friendly pub with a great food. Especially their Sunday roasts are favourite. Been to their Christmas lunch twice and they were both great.
There are parkings including road side parkings (but not at the pub) are near by but very restricted time and very limited spaces.
M. H.
Nice bar, good decor. Beer garden is nice and big. Plenty if room out back. The food is OK at best. I had a pizza that was bogged down in olive oil and was impossible to hold. Very bland and forgettable. Try and stick to the traditional burger and chips. Service is good, but expect it to be pricey.
A. R.
Nice little pub in South Ealing, food is tasty, staff are very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly too. The only thing I would say is as a Fuller's the beer is a little limited. Otherwise great.
J. S.
Lovely picturesque Georgian Fullers pub with hanging baskets and a sunny grassed beer garden. And good atmosphere. Tucked away in a wee alleyway next to St Mary's Church which the beer garden overlooks.
Very generous food portions that are reasonably priced for the area.
Staff are welcoming and friendly.
In close proximity to St Mary's Church, Grange Children's Centre, South Ealing Road Park, Lammas Park, University of West London, Ealing Studios, Pitshanger Manor and Gallery and the Questors Theatre, Pope's Lane and Gunnersbury Park.
Nearest stations are South Ealing Tube and Brentford Overground Station.
J. B.
A good pub with a nice atmosphere. Quite large and several different sections. Food is about average price for pub grub in the area with a main at anywhere between 8 - 18 pounds and it's good quality generally..
W. J.
Firsr visit and not the last Great food and beer.
S. D.
Thanks for looking after us. Jade was extremely friendly and professional
B. H.
Love this pub... Has a lovely friendly atmosphere, nice comfy sofa's for a read through the papers, great food and beer and a lovely garden for when it warms up again! Thoroughly recommended!!
H. S.
Good traditional pub, usually some guest ales on along with the Fuller's standard. Nice beer garden with plenty of tables.
B. H.
Beautiful pub! Staff very friendly. Blackened Salmon was delicious!
d. s.
Lovely pub, good range of beers.
Why do bar staff suddenly leave the bar area when a crowd arrives and why do bar staff ask 'who's next?' and then only look at and serve the fellah who has just ambled up to the far end of the bar while the rest of us have been waiting for ages? Happened three times.
A. I.
Great pub and Sunday roasts!
K. v. B.
Fantastic little pub, tucked away from the main road but very well known. Really friendly and welcoming staff willing to help. Great food and a fantastic selection of whiskey as well as ales. Love this place.
K. D.
Nice quiet local pub. Good sized garden.
D. N.
Been a few times. In many ways a standard, big, London Fullers pub. Nice old building (well hidden away). Several bar rooms. Good choice of Fullers & other ales on handpumps plus usual lagers & ciders. Food menu fairly short, not very inspired and strangely expensive for what you get. Garden at back is fine, but a little scruffy. It's the sort of place that's fine for a lunch or meet-up, but not much of a local.
K. M.
Had a good visit nice boozer drink good service good would go back the next time in town
N. M.
I'm not particularly impressed by the food. Not a great selection to be fair, and apart from the salmon dish they had during the summer, i didn't really like anything else.
The garden is lovely though and they make a killer pimms.
K. S.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu can be a little pricy at times but would definitely recommend trying their roast and burgers! Overall great pub.
K. v. B.
Lovely local pub with very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely food and a wide selection of ales and whiskey. Good garden and lots of room inside. Has a cosy fire for autumn and winter. Certainly the jewel of South Ealing.
P. R.
Food great.. service and staff very friendly..a little cold under cover unless you are directly under a heater
S. K.
Lovely pub, good food and fantastic beer garden.
P. L.
Excellent food good service highly recommend
J. S.
Very good beer. Relaxed atmosphere. They also have interesting looking food (although I haven't eaten here in several years) and interesting sounding entertainment (ditto).
W. L.
Sorry no photos this time, all I can say it's a hidden gem friendly bar staff brilliant cosy pub plus you can smoke in the courtyards, that bus 65 get off by the church about 2 minutes or so walk. Must be a blast in the summer 😎👍
A. D.
The best fries & burger at a local. If you like things done properly, this is the one. Frankly, I'd make it from another end of London for these smoky fries & burger. The amenities are just great of course.
V. V.
Lovely atmosphere, and nice garden. Staff really friendly, but beers not enough cold. Food a little bit overpriced.
C. (. G.
Visiting from Ontario Canada. Lovely Pub.
One of the better ones during my Journey.
Friendly wait staff. Beer Garden is fantastic place to stop and chat, eat or read a book while you enjoy a bevvie
B. L.
Yup.... A pub ... Mellow hints of gastro combine with a healthy overtone of beer swilling men. Not over loaded with testosterone but hardly fine dining .... (I don't really like pubs)
S. L.
Delicious meals. Good service. Disable friendly. Had the fish and chips. It was a big portion and a fair price. It was a bit noisy but it was a Saturday.
D. E.
Always good, my favourite pub and one of our most local. Great with or without the kids. Good food and well kept beer
l. s.
Sunday roast, beer and friends. Nice place in traditional style
J. C.
Very cosy, fairly quiet pub. Good for couples and families. Food a little overpriced, and lacking any modern craft beers. Great staff.
X. W.
Five stars! A rare accolade from me, I realise.
How do I love the Rose and Crown? Let me count the ways...
1. Wide selection of ales and less obvious beers. The fridge contains some intriguing possibilities if the taps don't impress you.
2. Whisky! There's a blackboard full of options to inspire you if you're in the mood for something short and fiery.
3. Staff are almost all very friendly and talkative. Less talkative when it's busy of course, and there's occasionally the odd sullen teenager, but generally the staff are impressively personable for a London pub.
4. Space! The layout is such that there's a wide variety of tables and chairs to suit every mood. You can grab an armchair in the front lounge, a sofa in the middle, a bar stool near the bar, a picnic table in the beer garden or long tables and dining chairs in the dining area. The horseshoe shape means that noise is controlled and you can find a quiet corner if you so desire. A very useful feature if there's a loud dining party.
5. Locale! It's hidden away next to a beautiful church. Hiding it away means it doesn't pick up many uncouth bar crawlers. It's mostly local regulars. It's also not often too busy, so you can almost always find somewhere to sit.
6. Events! What a smorgasbord! They have jazz nights, whisky nights, beer nights, a Great Gatsby party, quizzes, some random bloke playing drinking songs, they even have Shakespeare in the back garden occasionally. This point really earns the fifth star for the Rose and Crown. There's a calendar of different things to choose from, and it encourages you to join the community page to find out about the events, and that makes you feel more at home at the pub.
So, yes, justifiably five stars! If you see me there, buy me a drink! Oh, and the food is good too.
B. G.
Great atmosphere and excellent selection of biers. Very nice view of St Mary's church from the spacious bier garden.
m. a.
Nice pub nice food. Depending on food ordered you can be quickly served or not. A bit pushy at the end of the day to leave the place.
M. c. D.
Sunday Roast is very nice,it's sirloin or lamb with a veggie option with all the trimmings,17 pounds, the pudding was very nice,an aerated cheesecake with a berry compost yummy, the food here is always good, outside areas too if warm
C. E.
Lovely food, really tasty..definitely recommend.
R. U.
Reasonable fuller's pub. Big garden. Freshly cooked food. Like all London pubs, the beer is not cheap! Public paying car park nearby. On street pay by phone parking outside.
M. L.
This is a quaint little place, its set back from the main road next to a church. With its dim lighting and cosy atmosphere, this is a relaxing place to go for a quiet pint with a few friends.
It also serves a variety of foods, which has a wide range to suit everyone.
S. O.
Excellent. Great food and service
A. W.
The refurb in April 2011 has only made this place better. As mentioned before this is indeed a hidden gem. I stumbled across The Rosen in 2009 tucked away behind St Marys Church. The food is good pub fare and particularly good for pizzas. There's a pleasant outdoor area (beer garden) when the suns out, and large and varied dining areas indoors. Always busy on Fridays and Saturdays. A great pub!
R. B.
Nice ESB beer Chicken with chorizo croquettes was a bit so-so for the price. Next to no veg. Did I miss needing to order some as a side? I would have thought not at the price
K. S.
Always lovely food (even for veggies) and beautiful place to chill out
C. G.
Lovely large pub with a local feel to it. Great good so if you're peckish then it's worth enjoying the food while you're there.
H. B.
Nice pub. Not a young crowd. Genuine bar staff. I dropped my phone in car park. One of the staff found it and wouldn't accept any monetary thank you. As I say, genuine bar staff.
R. L.
Great local boozer in Ealing. Typical Fullers pub with a great choice of beer and food. Nice atmosphere angelo good garden for those summer days drinking beer in the sunshine.
S. C.
Good food.. Fast service.. Great beer garden.. 👍
H. F.
Nice friendly pub with a large beer garden. Good food
T. B.
Nice pub , Good Eats
R. B.
Friendly staff. Beautiful gardens.
P. S.
Pizza had barely any tomato sauce and the chicken Kiev had no garlic butter inside. For the price one would expect more. Nice atmosphere though.
A.
This a lovely pub with loads of tables and a garden area which is great in the warmer times of the year. Typical London prices for the drinks, expensive food but it's worth it.
R. C.
Deceivingly small frontage with a huge interior and beer garden. Good selection of ales and regularly changing choice guest ales. Haven't tried the food, but seeing the plates going passed, it looked good
H. D. S.
Cosy, relaxing and lovely place to meet up with friends and family. Loved it!
K. H.
Lovely pub, spacious, with beautiful garden - especially for sunny days! They serve tasty burgers as well!
G. R.
Though drinks (& food) have to be ordered on line, they came quicker that normal bar service.
W. O.
Great as always. Coping well with covid controls. Good beer and good food. Best to book.
M. R.
Lovely family pub with the largest beer garden in the local area. Being a fullers pub of course the beer is terrific. The food is good quality if unadventerous.
N. B.
Nice young and welcoming staff. Food is great too
f. s.
Lovely pub with great beer options and food along with a well kept pub and beautiful beer garden all packaged up with Great Staff!

D. S.

Good selection of beverages, polite staff and relatively good food.
M. F.
Great pub. Friendly team and great ale and beer selection. Felt comfortable to have a beer and relax with friends
S. M.
Greeted with a smile . Good service . Clean beer . Clean well kept pub . A good night wished and a thank you . ,! What more could be asked ? Congratulations !
T. L.
Burgers great, Brioche buns are foul! Apparently the same in all Fuller's pubs. If you want a good burger, take your own bun
S. H.
Nice local pub with good food and a great garden. Had a nice buzzy vibe on a Friday night. Good Chips!!!
c. k.
Cosy, welcoming, delicious food, accommodating, courteous and friendly hosts. Everything everyone would hope to find in a British pub. Cheers to them
B. O.
Great food, lovely beer garden and host a film club on a Sunday evening. Buzzy atmosphere. Well worth visiting.
S. B.
Lovely pub, good beer and nice food. I very much enjoyed my visit.
S. L.
Tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle, you wouldn't even know you were in a residential area. Food was good, from the Fuller's menu.
R. F.
Went there just for some late drinks, and it was comfortable, lively but not crowded with great service.
My friend lives nearby and loves it, so it can only be good!
A. B.
My favourite place for a Sunday roast that never fails. Epical lamb, marinated for days in beer, beautiful 2 way chicken, gorgeous veg....little gem of Ealing!
C. L.
Great food, atmosphere and service. Wonderful pub!
J. S. L.
Warm and family like British pub, very kind to foreigners, serving really big portion of delicious meals. Worth coming back again.
M. A. C.
This pub has a real chef!
The guy really enjoys having success.
Thank you Marian for a lovely evening!
R. C.
Great service and they serve an excellent pint of frontier
J. R.
Visited the Rose and Crown for a weekday lunch on the recommendation of a friend who is local to it. The service was friendly and the food good pub grub and the atmosphere pleasant.
A. K.
We really enjoyed our visit. A fantastic and historic pub. That old Ealing feeling.
j. m.
Spacious Fullers pub slightly off the beaten track. Tasteful interior, beer garden and relaxed friendly atmosphere.
l. l.
Good beer garden but could do with a more imaginative draught list. Needs to follow suit with more fullers pubs with their craft selection
D. C.
Large pub with variety of areas and good beer garden
d. l.
Waitrose service second to non sophie rush was above and beyond any other service provided by any other pub would employ her in a heart beat
J. a. J. G.
Quality pub grub in a great location. Homey vibes. Staff are pleasant and helpful.
N. R.
Quite pub with a lovely beer garden frequented by locals with incredibly nice staff. Highly recommended
B. M.
Great beer garden. Drinks are a little pricey but it is a nice friendly and cosy atmosphere.
