Reviews of The Salisbury Pub
J. M.
Nestled on the corner of St Martin's Lane and St Martin's Court this famous Old pub is a well preserved relic of Victorian life, packed full of history. Call in for a beer! The mahogany bar and cut glass windows and panels are magnificent. What makes any venue is the people and the staff here are terrific; so kind, so helpful. We had a Festive buffet lunch for 7 in The Whisky Room. The food was good and there was a wonderful atmosphere in the whole place. Not so easy for wheelchairs everywhere in the pub but possible. The loos are in the basement via step narrow stairs. The whole place is fun and reasonably priced for theatreland. Thank you 'staff of The Salisbury' we had a great time.
P. D.
Great Classic boozer, lovely selection of brews, good vibes. A suspicious amount of smiley, drop dead gorgeous ladies, they seem very friendly! Hold on, it seems they may be ladies 'of the night'. Great all round!
D. G.
Great pub right in the middle of the theatre district and Leicester Square. Friendly staff and great drink offering. Old school English pub, well worth a stop!
A. G.
My friend wanted to walk through memory lane, saying this was a favourite hangout for the gay men before and after attending theatre. The ambience is absolutely vintage with etched glass windows and gorgeous chandeliers. The bar is riddled with a good selection of beers on tap. The food menu sounds lovely although we haven't tried them. Maybe next time.
p. h.
Obviously living in 21st century this pub hangs on to traditional London. Mirrors & glass everywhere. Brilliant atmosphere, huge selection of Whisky. Would have loved to spend longer!
Update January 22. Still love this place. Full of atmosphere, great service and a lovely evening in The Whisky Room!
S.
An amazing pub I would visit it again when I go to London
I tried fish and chips and it’s very delicious 🤤
A. G.
I have been a few times now and Joel is always so happy to accommodate. He really brings out the fun there. There is also a great selection of beers and the food is delicious.
S. M.
Visited at Christmas, really lovely atmospheric pub. Didn't stay for a meal but the menu looked great.
S. B.
Love it , it's got atmosphere up to the ceiling. Handy for a drink before theatre or just sit and drink a good selection of beers or taste some of the excellent traditional food. A winner
J. H.
What a great pub, Joel's service was superb with a great beer selection. Such spicy nuts!
f. s.
Amazing pub,the staff is very friendly, the food was great and the service very good.
S. H.
Met up with friends on a busy Friday lunchtime. Good selection on the menu, the food was served hot and was tasty. Lovely atmosphere and efficient, helpful staff. Very handy for Trafalgar Square or the National Gallery.
D. C.
Just stopped for a quick drink and something to eat as was passing. Sat outside, quick service and food great, we had the shared platter
K.
We popped in here for a quick drink before catching our train home to the Midlands. Prices were reasonable for London. A warm cosy pub just down the road from an expensive busy Covent Garden.
A. B.
Nice pub if you're after a mixture of some old charm yet a little contemporary swankiness too. Beautiful old staircase and stair rail and lamps.
N. C.
Great food, however, if would be good if hot drinks were available on freezing cold days like today (2nd December).
Also lots of people coming in and leaving as unable to find seats ... seats which were occupied by the coats of people on adjoining tables ... staff didn't seem bothered by this at all(!)
K. T.
Great pub, great atmosphere. Only four stars as slightly disappointed in the Sunday Roast as the roast potatoes not quite cooked enough.
T. C.
I've been patronising this establishment for more years than I care to say, more so when I lived in London, but I return every time I visit the capital. It remains one of my favourite places for nostalgic reasons as well as the fact that it still is very welcoming, accommodating and NOW serves an excellent menu. 👏 👏 👏
C. R.
BEAUTIFUL looking pub!! Visited Sunday, great drinks wasn't so happy with the food.
Sunday roast had ran out, 2-3pm to my horror. Apparently its very popular.. Gutted!
Was excited for the burger, received a small burger with only a handful of fries. Pretty disappointing, left with a half empty belly.
Will return for drinks, will find a better establishment that has a good level of food stock and portion size.
Still, awesome pub for a drink.
A. P. (.
Lovely friendly pub that treats my friends and I like it's always our birthday. More than you believe. I will be going back. More than you believe.
A. C.
Lovely pub in Covent Garden. Really friendly staff and great beer selection. Look forward to returning
l.
A very nice example of an old traditional London pub, beautiful with lovely original Victorian interior & exterior. Went in for a quick drink late Friday evening after trying loads of places that were just closing, was seated quickly in the rear bar. Too late for food but looks lovely & will try next time. A nice drinks selection & v fairly priced for the area and the good atmosphere. Toilets downstairs & all fine. Refreshing to have an original boozer without it being all modern and stripped out. Look forward to revisiting 😸
M. S.
Lovely pub, fantastic historic interior panelling and glazing, curved benches, etc.
The real ale was great, with several Greene King beers including Abbott, and St Austell Tribute, Taylors Landlord and others in superb condition.
The landlord was really friendly.
Well worth a visit.
M. R.
Lively English pub in the theater district. Classic layout with lots of mirrors and plenty of room to stand or sit. Decent selection of taps (20+) and excellent service. Lots of “pun ambiance” here and a great place to have a pint with colleagues.
M. V.
Beautiful Pub full of history and a wide variety of ales & beers
J. C.
Great food at reasonable prices for this part of London. The batter on the haloumi and the onion rings was just perfect. We'll definitely be visiting again next time we're in the area.
C. R.
Great pub, lovely layout and great selection of ales. Thanks to barman Joel if you're reading, you made our night and we loved the Cwtch!
M. M.
This is what you hope every pub is like. The decor is stunning, the bartenders quick, the music at the perfect level. Dare I say best pub I’ve ever been to? Yes, I dare say it.
P. D.
Loved it, great pub, great food and great friendly staff
P. R.
Food was quick and excellent. Not badly priced considering it's location. Pint of Amstel was bang average though.
A. S.
One of the best looking pubs i've ever been in. A great traditionl British pub. Great selection of beer. The staff were so friendly and chatty. We only popped in for a quick drink on our way back to the hotel so we didn't try the food. We loved it and next time we are in London i'm sure that we will pop in.
p. r.
Nice pub with good atmosphere and amazing bartenders- big thank you to Martyna for looking after us, see you soon!!
A. L.
A beautiful pub to behold, really lovely woodwork and mirrors throughout. Service was quite slow even for a Saturday night, but still recommend for a visit. Fairly standard pricing for a central London location
A. L.
Really nice pub, Martyna behind the bar was really friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be returning.
V. V.
this pub has not just real atmosphere of real British but, but also amazing beautiful interior! Feel as if you are having a pint of real cask ale on royal premises. Great location, nice stuff - you won't regret visiting it
G. H.
Fabulous....I run in there today to get out of the rain while I was out Christmas shopping in the Westend...only had a couple of pints great atmosphere and everyone look like they were enjoying self's and in the spirit
N. L.
Great London pub, lively atmosphere and great fun. Well worth a visit.
J. C.
Great pub with amazing interior. Superb service from Martyna and her team.
A. P.
A historical pub not far from Leicester square, the interior have a really vintage look, and they bring you back in the years, they have a large selection of drink. The staff is really fast and helpful. Even if the place is already big there are a lot of big mirror and they make the area even bigger. There are plenty sitting place and even a second floor. There are other pubs in the area, but this one defenetly put the level on a extra step. I didn't try the food on the day but definitely when I will have the opportunity I will go back here.
M. C.
Rarely can you beat a pint of Timothy Taylor's and The Salisbury is a great place to start a few beers in London. Tucked down the lane behind The Wyndham Theatre, it's easy to get to and with a great interior full of character. Pleasant staff and many corners to maintain a good atmosphere even when busy.
E. B.
Classic London pub. Good vibe. Plenty of tables. Good interior. Food is above average pub food. Efficient staff. Clean toilets. No complaints here.
D. L.
The food was great and the service very good. It was very busy - late lunch on a Friday - and the staff did their best although I had to ask to have them wipe our table. Good range of ales and a good "pub grub" menu.
G. P.
Amazing pub, beautiful decor inside. Great drink selection and nice atmosphere.
M. T.
Stopped in here for a snack & drink while out walking around London showing a friend the sites. The pub is just off the main street and a nice spot for a break. It was much bigger inside than l originally thought.
L. C.
Good busy pub had pre booked a table had to request same when arrived howwever not a problem they found us one and cleaned it for our use. Only drawback portions werent overly large but good food nontheless.
D. J.
If you want a pleasant real pub for a drink this is the place. Great atmosphere and friendly service
A. B.
Quality to price ratio is excellent. Food was very good. Nice range of beers. 9/10 would recommend.
M. F.
Lovely staff great bar food exquisite decor relaxing ambience
O. W.
Beautiful pub, great service. Food and beer were lovely too
L. W.
Great atmosphere. Lots of choice of draft beers, ciders and spirits. Seating inside and outside. Pub food also available.
D. M.
Great crowd & ambiance, beautiful pub, good music and not too loud. Loved it!
A. G.
If you order the rump steak, it comes as a kebab!!! Pleasant enough but meat very tough.
H.
Incredible history in this place with beautiful decor inside. Lively and busy with a good selection of drinks.
M. M.
This place is amazing!!! Martyna is deffo the best ever!! Will definitely come back soon!!!!
L. S.
Nice pub with nice British character decor. We had some beer and fish and chips, which was a little bit oily, but ok. The atmosphere its super nice, just visit.
D. W.
Nice little pub, good selection of drinks nice staff
L. R.
Great pub, and general atmosphere. Always worth a visit.
M. R.
Must visit, pie and beer and ambience
a.
A beautiful pub, good drink selection and a friendly atmosphere. One of my favourite pubs in all of London.
M. R.
Enjoyed my visit to London with a couple of pints in this pleasant pub
Nice meal and friendly staff
B. P.
Proper pub with lots of history many famous people have drank in there.my local
J. M.
Very nice pint here
A. M.
I've been here for a quick dinner. There were a lot of beers and i really liked the pub! I'll return here!
E. H.
Great service from Martyna. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there!
C. W.
Lovely traditional pub with great decour at the heard of central London.
Great for pints, though I'd say expect to queue at that bloody bar for ages as the service is extremely slow. There's more glass collectors than bar staff.
I was sat down drinking my pint with a mate of mine and the bouncer walked over saying that if we don't eat then we need to stand up. How rude to ask that. 🤨
D. H.
Lovely pub in the centre of everything. Service a little slow but good beer and good atmosphere
J. O.
Traditional style pub. Good, quick service and a good range of gins.
S. S.
Lovely old pub and friendly staff. Couldn't find fault
M. D.
Good old English pub with a couple of real ales. The bar staff were excellent
B. L.
One of the most ornate pubs in London. A must see if you're visiting. Popular with tourists so not a typical local boozer.
G. m.
Comfortable, good food, friendly staff.
G. G.
Great pub, nice service and good atmosphere from what you can expect of a pub. For lunch or diner, try the beef pie. Beef stewed in beer. Order a beer alongside of it and you will have a great meal
A. M.
Good old fashioned boozer with the quickest bar staff in London. Drinks arrived super, super quick. I like this place because you can sit unobserved in private without anyone bothering you and chat with friends.
h.
Really nice outside area for drinks and lovely, warm atmosphere indoors. Drinks and service very good on a weekday, summer evening.
T. M.
Beautiful food, attentive staff. Couldn't ask for more!
R. L.
Great place with good food!
D. !.
Great pub in great area. Fast and friendly service, whole place been very clean. Very welcoming environment and polite staff members. Been feeling very good over there. 100% coming back.
C. C.
Expensive pints, service was slow but not surprised as it’s a fairly busy touristic central London pub.
M. C.
Best pub and service I've had since beginning my time in London . Such great history on the walls, amazing beer selection and the fish and chips were awesome.
D. Y.
One of the things I like about London is that it is still possible to find thriving, vibrant old fashioned pubs in the city centre and the Salisbury is one of them.
We booked here for a meal between sightseeing and going to the theatre
and I was impressed. It was extremely busy, but when we arrived 15 minutes early, our booking was swifty confirmed and our table was already ready. We were concerned about a possible wait because of how busy things were and we had tickets for a 7.30 show, but we needn't have been. Our meal arrived within 15 minutes and was really good. Service throughout was friendly and efficient.
Would certainly recommend The Salisbury if wanting to eat in the area. Booking looked essentiall.
W. B.
Busy, lost our drinks order but fish and chips was good.
t. m.
Great traditional pub with an excellent range of cask.
b. h.
A lovely experience and a nice place to sit and have a lovely drink.
D. K.
Great customers service by Martyna. Highly recommend!
R. S.
Fantastic old pub with great bar staff.
C. G.
Worth a visit..so different for a London pub. Friendly. Nice food.
J. K.
A real London pub in the heart of the West End. Authentic atmosphere with friendly staff.
j. c.
If you like opulent victorian pub decor this place is a must. If you want more then the Princess Louise in Holborn and The Red Lion in St James' are just as gorgeous.
C. S.
Typical London corner pub with well kept beers and good service.
S. W.
Lovely pub just round corner from Covent Garden.
M. P.
The location is nice , the pub is nice inside as well, the staff is just ok, we waited too much for them to get the order, approximately 30 minutes and we said that we were read and wasn't so busy, food was ok, but nothing special.
D. K.
I dont like dagmara customer service but i give 5 star for the food
M. B.
Fabulous old bar near theatre land..cool outside table area to sit..also can pay via PayPal here if you use the app.
D. M.
Best pub I've had in ages..Great atmosphere
L. M.
Staff are fantastic, very accommodating and friendly. Seating outside, easy to order on app, covid guidelines followed and felt comfortable. Great selection of drinks
A.

Always come here when I'm in London. Beautiful place
A. A.
It was busy for a Thursday night but had a nice drink.
J. D. V.
Authentic pub with great interior, right off Trafalgar Square.
Well worth a visit.
S. N. O.
Nice selection of beers and great fish and chips.
T. D.
Great old style English pub.
J. M.
Just a fantastic pub with wonderful Victorian interior. Great selection of ales from the hand pump and lagers as well. Food looks good. If you want a traditional fish and chips or pie etc this is your place as it's super tasty. Has my TD rating. TOP DRAWER.
J. M.
Bustling friendly pub. Real old school. Highly recommend
G.
Greene King pub, adjacent to the Noël Coward Theatre, with some guest beers - eg Speckled Hen.
Very steep stairs to the WCs. Small dining area at the rear. A couple of outside tables. Free wifi.
Once owned by 'Big Ben' Caunt; a famous bare knuckle pugilist (his last match, at the age of 42, was declared a draw after 60 rounds). Legend has it that the great bell of the Clock Tower at the Palace of Westminster was named 'Big Ben' after him - though this etymology is in dispute.
D. J.
Nice polite staff, nice atmosphere, food great
G. R.
Great pub in the heart of London and great atmosphere too
L. p.
Very polite, helpful staff, relaxed atmosphere. Prices reasonable.
J. R.
A really nice, traditional English pub with lovely friendly staff. Recommended.
E.
Really cool place to go! Highly recommend if you’re looking for something that feels very authentic. It was seat yourself and order at the bar while we were there and the food came out a little slow but overall very nice place! It wasn’t too crowded when we went early afternoon on a Sunday. Fish and chips hit the spot - not too greasy and the perfect amount of sauce.
D. B.
Great service for a very busy pub
A. H.
Nice friendly pub, helpful staff .
E. T.
The Pub is great very beautiful and very historical. I just had one pint but definitely I will back
C. P.
What a cool pub!! Lovely decoration inside, and they have a terrace outside, in the heart of the loveliest area... Food is good, drinks are tasty and prices are fair! We received the best service from Dagamara, she was kind, friendly, professional, efficient. The pub is busy but she gave us all the care and attention we deserved. Thank you!
V. M.
Very nice pub, very chilled out vibes
C. W.
Good old fashioned style pub. Good Guinness.
S. C.
Been here more than once in a small group and bigger group.
Each time it's a good service on drinks and food.
Amazing pies!
Also a very pretty pub, and not too noisy if you just want a nice chat.
Just note, like most pubs, you have to go to the bar for service.
G. R.
Lovely place and very friendly and welcoming and polite staff xx
J. G.
Yeah decent shout after a boat party event to be fair. Good vibes and reasonable prices.
D. W.
Fantastic place brilliant staff very helpful and friendly great beer will recommend highly can't wait to come back to London and come to the pub
T. m.
Really enjoyed being out for a drink at the Salisbury. The history of the pub is fascinating and the atmosphere inside is great.
s. p.
Interesting bars decorated with period glass. Good selection of beer and wine. Quite pricey but lovely and touristy location. There was a long wait to be served and some of the wines on the list were not available on the Saturday evening we were there
a. m.
Not a quiet pub. Very friendly. You can simply take a seat and order your meal, without any booking. Great food (I tried sausages, fish and chips and pie), generous portion, huge variety of beers. I will be back again!
R. W.
The building was too warm with no air conditioning and covid enforcement was very lax (nobody wearing masks when moving around and no staff enforcement).
M. R.
I stopped in for a couple of pints and some food. I went on a Thursday evening and they were pretty packed. Beer selection is decent and I was able to find a couple I liked. For food I went with the fish and chips. Fish was a little under seasoned but fried well. The chips were good and I devoured them with a side of curry sauce. The Salisbury is a solid spot for a drink and a meal if you're looking for something simple in the area.
M. R.
Pretty good pub with some history. It's a Greene King (corporate chain) pub, but better managed than some. Food was good, hot, and quick. The service was excellent. Good beer and whisky selection.
The bathroom needed soap in the men's room and it smelled a bit funky down there. Prices were pretty steep, but it's downtown London. Other than that, I would have given it 5 stars.
G. W.
Lovely Victorian interior pub with lots of seating
E. S.
Lovely little pub with a heap of character. Great decor and atmosphere.
Very small and obviously crowds out really quickly, but worth popping by for a quick half before a show.
Note, no food and pretty limited beer options; but better on wine and spirits. Fair price for the location.
T. G.
Fantastic setting and food....just enough away from all the Hustle and Bustle of the busier streets.
A. C.
One of if not the most beautiful pubs in all of London! Fantastic staff, beautifully situated in the cool shade, absolutely amazing experience!!! I could not recommend this pub more!!
To not visit this place whilst visiting or living in London should be a crime!
Enjoy!
j. A.
I love the history of the pub, and the decor is quite delightful too. It's usually heaving, and the staff work manfully (and womanfully) to keep up with everyone, but there's often a crowd at the bar. A few outside seats save this place for me, and a good range of beers too, but it's not the best pub in the world. Worth popping in for a quick one perhaps.
m. q.
Great pub, great atmosphere, recommended
J. X.
Great spot for a cold beer and meeting up with friends.
J. A.
Excellent, one of my favourite pubs when visiting London.
J. U.
I always come in here when ever in passing. Good range of beers and nice decor. Snazzy.
S. S.
Rare, if not unique, collection of original Victorian glass screens and mirrors, which rivals the reconstructed ones found in the Princess Louise. In theatreland and boasting many photographs of the various stars to grace the bar, it is a watering hole well worth a visit. A good range of cask pumps, but less than half were in operation when I visited, hence one star deducted. Friendly and efficient staff and manages to retain a local feel despite obviously being a stop on the tourist trail. Well worth a visit.
S. C.
Old fashioned boozer, great atmosphere, great selection of beers and spirits
R.
Nice Little Pub. Popped in for a quick recharge, after a wander about town. Lovely interior, which I imagine hasnt changed for many years. Felt welcomed, and the drinks were spot on. Didnt eat, so cant comment on the food.
G. S.
Fantastic inner decoration, good food.
A. J.
Our go to default pub when we are up smoke in west end. We've probably been in here 100 times. We love it.
A. P.
Traditional, characterful London pub with a history spanning hundreds of years and many original features. Really busy on a Friday evening as you'd expect, with tons of atmosphere. A few tables outside for the overspill in suitable weather. Good range of beers, including quite a few traditional hand pulled ales.
L. O.
Fantastic interior and a great choice of ales. The food menu is good and normal price for London. It was busy when I arrived but plenty of space to eat and drink. Bar staff friendly and patient whilst I made my mind up what to drink.
M. H.
A welcoming pub, and I've been welcomed here for years!, the Salisbury ticks all the boxes, though I have to admit that I've never eaten here. It's one of those pubs, with etched glass, that I would walk, if not 500 miles, at least a number of blocks to get to. I have always found the staff to be friendly and efficient, and the beers are great. Back in the day, when my football team would do a pre-match pub crawl, this was always number one on the list. Excellent pub for a few hours or a swift half, it's in my top ten of London pubs.
N. S.
Nice pub, rustic / traditional kind of feel, service wasn't great (seemed to be shorthanded behind the bar) and it's not like it was busy..! My only visit so may be that some of the bar staff knock so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.
L. L.
A great pub as ever, with good service and a friendly smile despite outside only service at present
K. M.
A new Summer 2019 menu is now in operation and gives a very reasonable value meal choices combined with good beer choice including Cornish Ale and a eating area I side and out . Although limited in size the pub manages to have a decent layout and rounded central bar which also serves coffee if required
M. B.
Nice pub, very traditional in the busy city centre of Soho
E. C. J.
A charming and cosy pub with plenty of details for the eyes to feast on. Good for both visitors and locals to experience a London pub with a warm feeling in the centre of the city.
I bit difficult to order drinks at the bar, so prepared to wait for a while. And you have to help clear after customers who has left.
A. H.
Friendly atmosphere and great food and service
S. L.
One of the coolest and friendliest places, especially if you are from out of town. Lots of tap handles and above-average pub fare. They say London's best fish and chips, but I don't think so. Very good though.
K. B. L.
This is the only pub I go to in Covent Garden and I would meet friends here. I had to meet my podcast co-host Andy N, a known Performing Poet on the Manchester Poetry scene and this is where we had the meeting in 2010.
Everyone I take here, is impressed by its interior setting and for me the Guinness is on point.
Beautiful interior setting and ambience right in the heart of theatreland!
20+ stars for the brilliant ambience!
C. G.
It has been my 3rd year of visiting this superb pub. Having a celebratory weekend, myself and friends from Stoke on Trent enjoyed a few visits. Friendly staff, good food and vibrant atmosphere. Well worth a visit to this pub where the decor promotes a traditional London friendly pub. Looking forward our next visit.
C. F.
Terrific historical London pub..Great range of real ales as well
R. H.
A canonical and quintessential central London pub. Noisy, overcrowded and full of fun seeking office workers. It brought back fond memories of what pubs wee like 20 years ago, not the smoke free, family friendly, gasto locations they have become today. If you are a tourist looking for a little real London, definitely a must.
M. P.
What a great pub right in the heart of London drinks and food fantastic atmosphere in and around the place.
S. J.
Great pub food great bar staff great
P. D.
Great selection of beers...worth a visit
A. C.
Amazing traditional public house 👍
G. P.
The Pub is nice, the service is good and courteous, but the spaces are tight, we had lunch in five people at a small table, in addition, the staircase leading to the toilet is by climbers. I understand that the changes are expensive and complicated, but this is necessary to have 5 stars
m. r.
A true English pub. Great atmosphere.
P. F.
Great whiskey/scotch selection, delicious tomato soup and excellent service
N. A. Č.
Tepical english pub . Old style . Many dark beer and lager 🍺
D. W.
Lovely pub to visit on a quiet Sunday afternoon, with very attentive, helpful, staff
E. S.
Cosy place. Our food was okay
E. C.
A fine pub well located on St Martin's Lane in between Covent Garden and Leicester square and up the road from Trafalgar Square. This is a great example of a Victorian pub with beautiful etched glass and decoration. Highly recommend this well run and friendly pub for a well kept beer and great pub food.
B. T.
Beautiful grade 2 listed bar. The button back leather seats, and the Greene King ales were great. Also a good location if you're visiting the Noel Coward theatre.
V. M.
Very nice place where to eat and enjoy a nice drink. If you are looking for a British pub with super good food, nice drinks and a beautiful location, then you can't miss The Salisbury! (There is also an other one in Harringay called "The Salisbury Hotel London" - But I think the one in St Martin's Ln is much better!)

I came in here around halloween and was waiting for friends. They ended up being late so I was sat by myself with a drink for half an hour. The staff were nice and it's a very welcoming pub, I didn't feel awkward being on my own and I chatted to one of the barmen for a bit while he was dealing with my order.
T. B.
Beautiful old fashioned London pub.
J. A.
Great. Good selection of beers
C. D.
Great atmosphere...sticky tables
R. C.
Great authentic pub. Good selection of beer and other drinks! A little busy but could always service at the bar.
a. w.
The first pub of about 5 around Covent garden and soho that me and my 2 friends actually got a seat in on a Saturday night! Nice bar staff, standard very expensive London prices but really nice to get a seat on a Saturday night and also be able to hear my friends speak. Good chart music playing not too loud, cool decor, no complaints :)
D. J.
Great beer selection. Nice pub. Not enough staff on so slow service drops it down. Worth stopping at though.
F. L.
Historic traditional pub in the heart of London. Operated by Greene King, there's a good variety of cask ales which rotate frequently. Beautiful etched glass and mirrors, and a place I often bring visitors to London. Definitely worth a stop during a pub crawl in the area.
R. K.
Nice looking pub with a decent selection of ales (really liked Tribute that they had on tap there), but the service was slow and food was below average. The festive pie was especially disappointing. A nice surprise was a santa hat clad band giving a raucous rendition of a New York fairy tale by The Pogues.
J. E.
Beautiful decor. Kind staff.
R. W.
Amazing pub with excellent friendly staff. Would highly recommend this traditional English bar. Loals are extremely friendly and everywhere was very clean. Looking forward to returning to this bar again.
B.
I'm here on a Tuesday so it's not so crowded. The bartender is really nice and let me try a few different ales before I decide. A nice thing since I usually don't drink ales
M. V.
Lovely friendly pub.
J. B.
Good seating area outside and easy to order through the Greene King app.
T. H.
Lovely London pub, full of engraved mirrors and polished wood a real treat. Extremely popular so finding a seat can be a bit of a wait. They also serve meals.
P. P.
We visit the Salisbury every time we are in London ( every couple of months ). We always have a very warm welcome and the atmosphere is wonderful. We last visited on 30/09/14 were well looked after by manager John, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal as usual. Excellent food and good prices. As the Salisbury is situated in theatre land it is not unusual to see a star or two, on our last visit I was delighted to see Charles Lawson and his partner at the bar ( aka Jim Mcdonald from Corrie ). I am an avid soap fan and was delighted that he agreed to a photo with me. Next time you visit this wonderful pub keep your eyes open you never know who will be at the bar.
J. F. -. B.
World renowned west end pub featured in many a film.
Can get very busy
C. M.
Its worth going to this pub just for the decor! Etched glass and gold! Serves a good selection of beer. Maybe not somewhere I'd spend an entire afternoon but nice to pop in for a change.
D. E.
Open again after the lockdown.
All a bit clinical really, infrared thermometer on the door, aggressive staff, one way system, etc.
I'm sure they are just following orders, unfortunately I'd rather go to a place that's more relaxed.
k. k. s. c.
The history and decor alone sell this place. It has been a mainstay throughout London pop culture for a century. The staff are welcoming and there's a great restaurant area. Just watch the steep stairs down to the bathrooms!
S. P.
Very nice pub. Good staff, busy obviously in the middle of London, but dealt with the demands of late night drinkers with a smile. I would visit again
J. R.
Nice pub, great location.
M. H.
Stunning Victorian pub with great drinks and lovely staff
L. H.
Great atmosphere, loved it. Bar staff really friendly and cheerful even when busy. Food looked good but we had already eaten.
D. T.
Lovely little corner pub with dining area upstairs. Good beer and pleasant staff. Close to covent garden and Leicester square, a fine place to have a pint or two.
T. C.
Good pub. Very good service. They follow all Covid rules. Close to Covent Garden and Leicester Square
Definitely I will come back.
L. Y.
The staff were friendly, the place is clean and very organised with barriers and space to protect the staff and customers. Felt very safe there, plus the beef lasagna I had was very delicious 👍
K. V.
Good pub in the centre of London.
A. S.
Nice West End boozer in the classic London tradition. Only had a couple of drinks, no food, but what was being served looked okay. Good selection of beers and wines by the glass, and a nice friendly atmosphere.
M. M.
Pretty busy pub with an old time feel. Beer was great and the staff friendly however they weren't particularly quick to get a beggar out of the door who started pestering every drinker in there.
H. W.
Excellent historic pub! Love it! Always a visit worse. So nice to talk to other people there. Excellent stuff
E. M.
As it would happen, I am from Salisbury Maryland, in the US. It was nice to see the name of my home town, having just moved to London! The staff was polite, the beer was filling, and the atmosphere was warm.
M. F.
You won't expect this place in a tourist area. But I was surprised in a positive way. Friendly staff and good beer selection.
F. F.
What a great place for drinks. The pub itself is great with amazing decor and a good vibe. Highly recommended
J. H.
Late Victorian pub with some impressive original features, including the usual etched glass and also some interesting lamp stand statuettes. Atmosphere-wise though I found it perhaps a tad too busy and a bit impersonal. Maybe deserves a second visit at a quieter time of the week.
A. M.
Thanks, the team are really hard working whilr dealing with this situation so professionally. The Ⓥ vegetarian pie is delicious and the ipa is alway crisp and cold x
K. S.
Great location for a couple of drinks pre and post theatre visit. The Salisbury has a real traditional pub feel to it with lovely etched and engraved mirrors throughout.
P. G.
Oldie worldie, lovely atmosphere
J. V.
Three of us went for lunch last Thursday. We visit every few months. Food was excellent and very good value. Assistant Manager very charming and attentive to three old ladies ! Excellent service. We will be back.
M. S.
Pub in a touristy area with surprisingly decent fare. Bangers and mash are spot on. Draught beers favor IPA and ale drinkers and leave a bit to be desired for the rest of us. Service is friendly and solicitous.
G. N.
Sitiuated between charing cross road and covent garden, this is a fine watering hole with lots of outside tables.
S. L.
Lovely pub with original Victorian decor. Very good pub food. (They didn't have my choice from the menu, but substituted it. The alternative was good.)
R. M.
Love this gem of a pub. Have been coming for years. Friendly staff, cosy seats inside and good drinks.
S. D.
I often go for a pint here when I finish my dayshift, the beer is ok and the staff are friendly, my only gripe is that you are not aloud to sit outside after 11pm which means you have to supp up inside. I particularly like the fact that there is no fruit machine to waste my money on so I have more change to tip the lovely barstaff
M. W.
You are welcome! It is a great pub with a great theatrical history. I love it there!
J. P.
Thanks for looking after us so well after the Remembrance Parade on 11th November - perfect refreshment after a morning's marching! I have used The Salisbury for almost 40 years and it is the best pub in the area.
r. m.
Bit of a mix up with out table booking but staff sorted the issue out without any fuss, food was delicious and atmosphere was fun send friendly.
H. B.
Great, a must visit. Taste the local ales.
D. P.
Very nice old school pub - amended by review to reflect my experience when I attended.
G. C.
Have been going to this pub since the late 60's, it's always interesting and the Victorian decor is superb.
G. E.
Fantastic as always fabulous old pub.
e. s.
It was a beautiful pub but I was ignored by a bar tender who failed to tell his colleague I was waiting to be served, leaving me to get the attention of a 3rd bar tender who alerted the first two (the very first definitely saw me as he waved me off) to serve me.
A. S.
Nice pub
j. t.
Walked in with my son and looked around for ten minutes. Not once did any member of staff acknowledge us.
The pub is beautiful, but the service was non existent.
T. B.
Decent pub with classic London pub interior with good range of beer on tap and excellent Covid 19 precautions in place.
J. W.
Lovely pub, and very nice cider on draught
J. S.
Great atmosphere, decoration is full of details, an excellent service and a lots of different kinds of drinks. Highly recommended.
S. D.
Good location. The semi circular curved seating is uncomfortable with the straight high back leather sofas. Drinks n service is quick.
L. K.
The service was great, with friendly staff and good beer. But come the end of the night, the security were rude and aggressive, which spoiled a perfectly nice evening. Shame.
C. O.
Nice atmosphere and decor
C. D.
A lovely long-standing traditional pub in the centre of london, very well decorated good food and affordable beer. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
D. S.
Great pub in covent garden, next door to Noel Coward theatre, has outdoor seating, worth a visit
P. A.
Super friendly staff, comfortable couches and good variety of beers. Also, I got drunk and forgot my mobile there and they kept it for me to pick up on the next day. Thank you guys!! 🥰
T. D.
Decent pub, nice features and good beers, a bit narrow all round due to a rather grand central bar, proper west end do a bit touristy, worky on a Friday evening.
J. B.
Lovely Pub. The food and atmosphere are great. I love the wild berries cider. So refreshing. I Come here twice a week.
R. F.
Nice friendly pub
D. T.
Lacklustre bar staff with the flattest pint I've ever seen.
L. O.
Just under a tenner for two drinks! But has that original old pub feel which is a bonus. No loud music or sport which created a nice atmosphere. Proper pub!!
M. S.
Alexandra was an absolutely fantastic host. Well recommend
Ε. Ω.
Fish&Chips mushy peas and a cold beer GREAT!
J. B.
Beautiful pub known for its antique etched glass. Bit different to the types of pubs you usually get in London. One for the traditionalist.
S. G.
Typical British pub, with all the good old English qualities a pub should have. Quirky inside with an old feel. Will definitely visit again
A. H.
A proper London pub, lots of engraved glass and mirrors and polished wood. Really busy but service is fast and friendly. Well worth a visit.
N. H.
The staff here are always really friendly and chatty (not always the case in a lot of London pubs) which is why I like to visit. The only thing this place really needs is some air con!
C. H.
Great service. Glass lifter working like a fiend. Girls behind the bar. Observant and efficient. Great experience
R. N.
The Salisbury is a popular old haunt during my antiquarian book selling days. I particularly liked the Victorian features, with its the impressive mirrors and lampshades. However, being located in the hub of Soho, the place is usually packed with tourists, making it difficult to find a quiet place to sit down and chat. We recently visited a week before Halloween, and the pub went a bit too Halloween-crazy--it was covered in tacky spooky props and faux cobwebs; the staff also had ghastly Halloween makeup on. Despite all that, I have a soft spot for The Salisbury and will go back again and again, reliving the days when the world's issues were discussed over pints of Guinness.
D. S.
Good old pub.
Got in for early 11;30) lunch. Chicken and bacon sandwich £6.99. Nice though.
J. M. (.
Nice pub in the centre of west end action. Had a couple of pints here and enjoyed the buzzy ambiance and selection of beers.
P. W.
Crowded pub with moderate distancing
j. h.
This pub was featured in the film 'Victim' with Dirk Bogarde . Infamously 2 men were kissing here in the 1970s they were told to leave by the manager when they replied that they thought it was a gay pub the managers retort was "it's not a gay pub, just a lot of them get in here! These days it's mostly people visiting Covent garden or the nearby theatres. Great place to meet as it's just around the corner from liecester square tube.
l. p.
Food and drink was amazing! Great service and a lovely atmosphere reasonable prices! Highly recommend!
A. K.
Lovely old pub bar staff on the wall and very polite food looks good I have never eaten here maybe one day
A. T.
Very nice food
I.

S. D.
Battery Low but worth a Visit 👍
T. M.
Nice pub
N. S.
Walked in on passing, great old pub with bags of atmosphere. Good beer, good food and attentive pleasant staff, says it all.
R. G.
Incredible place in London to relax and have a drink. Could've stayed here for hours and hours, if only time allowed. :-)
P. F.
Unfortunately it doesn't serve "Old Peculier" from Theakston Brewery any more. Otherwise ok pub, burgers are much better at the "princess of prussia".
L. C.
It looks like but it is not a tradicional pub as you would expect when visiting London. It has not that atmosphere and there is no rock music being played
C. B.
Gins were good,my forte in life is enjoying a nice flavoured gin, with a little tonic, and not a mound of ice, heaven, the pub was good and so friendly,
K.
Love this pub every time I go to England 🇬🇧
B. R.
Great location and tons of beer on tap. Didn't have the fish & chips but it looked really good.
E. K.
Very nice service, the waitress was kind
S. S.
An authentic British pub in every way. We checked in for a pint of beer before the show at At. Martins and weren't disappointed with their selection of brews.
S. H.
Huge full oval shaped bar, seperating several rooms and festooned with spirits and huge panels of etched glass. Large figurines of an aphrodite like figure holding electric lighting. Selection of four real alea and a huge amount of spirits.
C. E. J.
Staff were great, food good and location convenient
Been there numerous times over last 2 years when visiting London
N. C.
Old world feel and excellent food and drink. Staff are friendly and helpful, well worth the visit if your in the area especially pre theatre
G. J.
Great Pub, Good Food
P. R.
Great place to chill and enjoy a drink with friends in a very well presented interior and with an excellent choice of ales and porter as well as premium lagers.
A. G.
A traditional London pub. Staff is very polite and professional. Mixed crowd tourists/locals. Recommended
M. Q.
Great buzz service brilliant
T. H.
Decent pub. It's in a tourist district, so it can get a bit crowded. We sat at one of the outdoor tables, which didn't seem to be very clean.
A. F.
Great meal - we had the salt burger and the fish and chips- very good cocktails too.
C. g.
Lovely, only went in for a quick drink but very clean and tidy.
M. G.
Always a good vibe here a mix of local shoppers and tourists, pretty decent craft beer range, reasonable prices, not tried the food here but looked pretty decent.
C. T.
Very cool old pub. Good food. Service is a little slow
C. M.
Excellent English pub food near Leicester Square
S. M.
Had pie and chips and a pint. The pie was quite substantial, worth the money. The beer was well kept and a good selection.
Y. A.
Nice pub!
M. G.
Very busy place, but always happy to visit. Increasingly well known to tourists in the area, but the beer selection is always good
J. M.
Not many pubs as beautiful and glamourous as the Salisbury remain in London' s West End. The beer is never 100% tbh and the staff are always changing but the psychogeography is exceptional .
C. R.
Atmospheric place for a pint in Theatreland with some lovely period cut glass from the era of its namesake, the Third Marquess of Salisbury-- three-times prime minister and legendary foreign secretary...
J. C.
Very charismatic, steeped in history.
C. D.
Pretty decent boozer near leicester square. The beer is well looked after so you know you'll get a nice quality pint of ale
s. i. e.
Great location always busy. Excellent range of drinks. Good service.
B. G.
Amazing pub. Always good service. Never known trouble there since I first went there in 2005.
R.
Comfortable seating, good menu 2 g&t's £21 (doubles - still a bit expensive)
G. W.
Cut-glass everywhere... except for the accents. A perfectly decent alternative to grab a fair value snort o booze during your theatre interval.
G. P. R.
Nice pub with good selection of beers, lagers and wines. Good food menu to chose from.
J. C.
Affordable food, food the stomach comfortably. Not a culinary experience. But got to see Pearly Kings and Queens also eating there.
N. E.

Beautiful Victorian pub. Great to take out-of-towners to. Can get very busy before the theatres.
L. C.
Superb value with (hot!) food and a good selection of drinks. Friendly staff too!
M. L.
This is a famous, classic watering hole in London's theatreland. It never disappoints. You may have to wait for seating though.
T. H.
Can get busy, and the staff have a huge bar to cover, but good quality beer and a nice place.

H. H.
Great food, no seating. Like none. Be prepared to stand and eat or hover and grab an immediately vacant chair.
C. U.
The food and location are alright. It isn't cheap though. Sunday Roast (Beef) and a beer for more than 20£.
S. S.
Great old pub , friendly atmosphere , definately go for a drink again , definately recommended .
L. P.
Nice traditional pub, but I was charged £6.19 for a G&T in a small plastic cup which is outrageous
c. r.
