Reviews of The Sheaf
R. E.
Really cute pub. Went here for lunch today and the staff were very helpful with the menu and drinks selection.
Had the burger with fries. Fries were nice and warm and burger was well made with avocado. The slaw was what blew me away alongside with my favourite E1 Brew Co CBD lager which they had.
They also informed me that they always allocate all the right beer brands with the correct pint glasses.
They also have a play room for darts and plenty of space for matches and big party crowds. If you're a pub crawler it's well worth a visit!

Lovely underground place for drinks n food. Beautiful atmosphere, nice staff, good choice of beers and delicious food. I been there with my partner and we enjoyed our time as long as we stayed there. Big enough space for big groups or weekend gatherings. They’ll never disappoint u.
K. H.
One of our regular haunts, good for larger groups, reserved tables avaliable. Food is good, buffet will get eaten by passing punters if you don't keep you eyes peeled. Great location 👌
T. H.
Cracking pub in a great location. Good choice of beers and cocktails and lots of tvs to watch sport on
J. R.
Not an outdoor pub, but downstairs with a very cosy interior design. The burgers are SO good and the food comes in ridicolously big portions. They stream almost all games, but I recommend you book a table for that :) It's really popular! 10/10
A. R.
Great vibe and good food. The service was a little bit of a let down as we had multiple issues with food that was available and then it wasn't and then it was available again.
A. J.
Really enjoyed my time here. The staff were really friendly, service was quick and the ambience was very chilled with lots of seating.
M. T.
This place only takes card no cash. There are restrooms here & a,good spot if you looking for a drink. There is also darts & TV screens here.
L. A.
Good range of beers, nice atmosphere, but the dart boards could do with an upgrade.
S. C.
Lovely pub with a courtyard out the back. Well decorated inside, lovely staff and a great selection of drinks. It is right by London Bridge Station for a swift exit home. It serves traditional pub food of good quality and shows football and other events. There is a dart board too
L. V.
Very nice pub, good food and different sorts of beer.
O. E. M.
Great place with Great service, good food and drinka to go along. Covid safety well included, face masks mandatory👍
D. P.
Karina and Edmée are the best customer service people ever. I hope I order all my beers from them from now on!
P. M.
Sports bar. Has darts. Decent beer selection. Pub food.
M. C.
Feels like a student bar 2 mins from London Bridge station. Standard prices can get very busy early evening when service can be slow. Allow dogs.
P. T.
Very nice it strikes me as a bar that's maybe used as a place to have a quick pint on your way to another bar rather than one to stay in all night
A. M.
Not the usual beer and darts in the main basement location, but a night under the arches. The sheaf has opened up the back yard which sits under the London Bridge arches. You need approach from the back street instead of the normal front entrance. Not a bad location, but our service was a little slow but quite relaxed compare to some other London Bridge locations
T. M.
Nice bar, good beer and decent food.
C. C.
Lovely pub and great staff, would definitely visit if you’re in harpenden
P. S.
Rare to find a central London pub with a decent darts setup. Great selection of beers, too.
R. R.
Bar staff VERY friendly, good selection of beers.
One of the security staff going round the tables informing everyone the bar was closed a few minutes after staff had rang the Last bell, my colleague & myself knew the bar was Closed & we were drinking up at the time when we received his vocal message.
The security staff member should have been challenging/intimidating the customers who had just ordered 3 Guinness just before the bell & others loud customers & not customers who were drinking up at the time plus he could see we had 1/3 of a pint left.
I have been there on many occasions & never had any issues.
O. L.
Great pub with a wide selection of beers on tap and some proper darts boards. There is plenty of space and a few screens which would make it good to watch sports. Friendly and knowledgeable bar staff also made it s pleasant experience. My only problem was that it was very noisy as the floor is wood.
M. W.
Great staff, lovely experience. Drinks selection was a bit small and can't smoke in the outdoor area
M. C.
Feels like a student bar 2 mins from London Bridge station. Standard prices can get very busy early evening when service can be slow. Allow dogs.
L. R.
Fab covid safe pub, lots of tables and outside heaters only downside is no sun!
J. F.
Good pub, good location and it even has a friendly bouncer.
W. K.
I would give 4 stars if it wouldn't b for the fact that they messed up my booking. How can U get it so wrong having a paper trail to refer to...boked table for 5pm just to b told that they have booked it for 6pm ....not good enough and we were left by the door ignored and pushed around as it was just by the toilets. Not a very nice first impression. The good thing was that the hotdogs were fantastic
F.
Bar food and beer within a cosy environment along with good company and not bad service overall what else could you ask for in after work drinks?
S. R.
Was alright. Loved the ship.....
M. C.
Warm atmosphere. Great place to go for drinks after work.
c.
2-4-1 Monday to Wednesday at lunch is no bad thing when paying London prices! Beer and cider offerings used to be better and aren't cheap but it's a decent pub that's tucked away enough from the tourist area of borough market to make it enjoyable and easy to get a pint from the bar.
E. R.
Visiting London with the family and stopped in for lunch. I like places tourists don't seem to favor (like Borough Market after work). The food was decent, but the bartender appeared to be bothered we were there.... We were the only ones there! Perhaps that's why... 3 stars
A. J.
Spacious underground bar - not sure how wheelchair friendly access is, so best check in advance - with a good combination of seating choices. Great selection of beers and ciders at standard London prices. Didn't eat there but what I saw being served looked pretty good. I was there late afternoon and early evening, by the time I left place starting to fill up nicely and plenty of staff to avoid lengthy wait at bar
J. F.
Good pub, good location and it even has a friendly bouncer.
N. G.
I'm tempted to mark this down as it's one of my favourite pubs to watch sport in around my area and I don't want it to get too swamped! All jokes asife, good selection of beers on tap, great food and no matter where you sit you can see a tv. Making bookings here is easy and we always get looked after.
P. R. O.
Not a bad place for a couple of beer, they got a lot of selection. But service is not that good. Our table was dirty since the very first moment and nobody came and clean it in more than an hour.
E. H.
Fantastic idea to utilise the outdoor space. Good efficient table service. I hope you keep the outdoor space when the lockdown restrictions finally end.
P.
Good beer. Expensive for a pint as all central London pubs are. But food ok and being an underground pub has a good atmosphere. Also dartboards and darts can be borrowed with a deposit left.
N. S.
Nice. Been here, perhaps a dozen times. One of the better Bavarian pubs in London. Food is above average. Plenty of choice in terms of beer both on tap and bottled. I've always had a very good time at this place. Fridays and Saturdays are just MAD (band playing and all)!
S. W.
Very fresh beer. Beer was really good, decently priced. Lots of space. But kitchen closes hour + before closing. Attentive staff. No complaints
T. W.
Really nice place. Good foods and beer options clean and a very good atmosphere in the evening. Show the sport too but not great for that as have low ceilings so if anyone stood up you csnt see the screen
S. g.
Great pub for a very busy area. Lots of room bags of atmosphere and good service. Football was on the night I was there so it was busy but never waited more than 2 mins to get a drink.
R. P.
Clean, cool (A/C), good food. Did I mention it's very clean? Cumberland Sausage sandwich is delicious. Waitstaff is friendly and actually seem to be interested in providing good service (unlike most other places in the U.K.)
C. G.
Good space and general bar with nice beer but not great for the football due to the low ceilings (tough to see the screens) and my mate ordered a ham sandwich and get completely raw meat. I mean totally, not even seen the kitchen raw!
H. S.
A regular for colleagues after work, at first sight this pub is mostly frequented by professionals. However, the walls are lined with photo's of regular punters from the pub. It's a nice touch that shows there's more to the place than meets the eye. The beer selection is good and the staff are friendly. For me, the main aspect of The Wheatsheaf is the sport coverage. I've watched football, cricket and rugby here and its always a good atmosphere. A nice place and I'll be going back.
R. C.
Decent place for a sit down and chat, kind of hidden away as it's downstairs. Alright ales/beers but they cannot make cocktails! The mojito tastes like soda water and nothing else. They haven't mixed any of the ingredients in and there's no where near enough flavour or rum. Last time I came, they didn't have any mint to make the mojito in the first place. The staff are nice but a shame that the drinks are sub par.
M. M.
A really nice place to watch football if you want to get a seat. Plenty of screens and the bar staff are really friendly. They have a good selection of beer and the prices are about standard for london.
E. H.
Nice sports bar location. Can get very noisy when busy as it is below ground. Nice atmosphere, even if off duty staff were a bit snarky.
J. P. T.
Karina is a wonderful manager. Great place!
J. F.
Most bars in this area can get very busy in the evenings, but you can usually get a seat here. This is a large underground bar. Beer is good, with many options, but some of the craft beers are very expensive. Food is okay, tasty but not that memorable.
G. H.
My favourite pub in the Borough Market area. It has a great selection of beers, wines and spirits, as well as great food. The staff are friendly and unlike other pubs, it still has character. Worth a visit.
H. E.
Nice pub located below street level, sells a nice range of largers and bitters on pump. Food is available. Staff are friendly it's very popular on a Friday.
D. G.
Great bar. Good selection of ales and lagers. Friendly and helpful staff offering a good menu for food. Worth a visit. Always a warm welcome.
T. M.
very nice place to have a drink after work! Friendly and cosy. Went there several times and enjoyed it very much. Staff is amazing. Drinks a little bit expensive for those looking for cheap beer.
D. P.
Good sized pub with a wide selection of beers wines and spirits. The food is not as good as it could be, but it is a great size with a good atmosphere. Great for watching sports or an afterwork drink
B. B.
Very friendly staff and well over a dozen ales and ciders on tap. It feels rather nice in here, for a basement bar; the white-painted brick ceiling adds a good bit of light.
J. C.
Had a great night here after work, very busy but you don't have to wait an age to get drinks. Not had the food so can't rate 5 without knowing all.
D. C.
The first and last stop for any drinking in SE1derful. Always a great laugh, staff are superb and on point always. Customers are the worst best people you’ll ever have the displeasure of meeting.
L. R.
Fab covid safe pub, lots of tables and outside heaters only downside is no sun!
R. D.
empty when we arrived and still they served us dry salad on our Charcuterie plate. quick to replace it with fresh. Good range of beers. looks like our could be fun with a crowd. free wifi.
R. W.
Cask beer wasn't sufficiently chilled, though otherwise well kept, barman gave the impression he was doing me a big favour just by serving me.
m. s.
Underground pub - nothing special. Have eaten here a couple of times with work colleagues. Food is ok - standard pub fare but the venue is big enough and quiet enough at lunch to take a big group.
S. N.
Another pub visited many a time over the years - good beer range and being large often more able to find a seat/get a table, which is always welcome.
S. C.
Phone posted 3 stars without me knowing! But, amazing pub/bar! Only constructive feedback I could offer is getting rid of that guy behind the bar (my brother).
y. v.
Service was slow very slow, although busy. Guy on the door was lovely very welcoming not so from staff inside
A. D.
Great venue. Lots of space and plays all the sky sports matches. Nice friendly bar staff 👍🏻
D. K.
Good pub tucked away under the hop Exchange. Big selection of ales. Dart boards. Sky sports. 2-4-1 on lunches Monday to Wednesday!
M. E.
Overpriced and and a mixed bag in regards to service. They got my disappointing food order wrong and then blamed me. The bar staff were friendly but didn't know what a jagerbomb was. Not that kind of establishment but still.
D. R.
Lovely basement bar that serves food too. Nice decor & friendly staff. They also have two screens for sports
J. C.
Was out for a few beers with my son and his girlfriend. Chanced upon this place. Pub in a cellar. Interesting ceiling. Good atmosphere. Worth a visit
S. “. H.
The old-new Wheatsheaf, the new-old Wheatsheaf - we didn't know what to call it to distinguish it from the one tucked beside Borough market. Thank goodness they have now renamed it: The Sheaf. They have re-vamped the seating in one half of the pub to include long tables and oddly, American diner-esque benches and stools. My favourite place to nab a seat is still in the little cave that comfortably sits up to 8 people. At lunch times, it can get very busy and the food has a tendency to be served in dribs and drabs, so you will end up staring longingly at your friend's sausage sandwich for 15 minutes before your plate arrives. Nevertheless, there generally are no complaints on the quantity or quality of their dishes. I fell in love with their fish-finger sandwich. It's not the fish-finger as you know it though; it is battered pieces of fresh cod, cooked to perfection. That soft, flaky cod flesh tastes so good smothered in their tartar and stuffed between two thick-cut slices of bread (your choice of white or brown).
D. B.
Burger and chips was great - good price and large portion! Not as busy as other pubs in the area and there's even a small area for darts!
J. N.
Great pub, good location, even better food, great dart area sporting 2 boards... Abit pricey
R. D.
Great selection of beers, good for viewing sport with plenty of screens, in the basement with low ceilings so not ideal for claustrophobics
S. L.
Really nice food and great service. Food is excellent and not too pricey. Would recommend going earlier during the week when it's not too busy/ loud
I. A.
Really great beer selection, and the fish finger sandwiches are unreal. Excellent place to skive off work for a couple of hours. Not that I would!
T. H.
We've been here for the past 4 years for company Christmas celebrations and have always felt very welcome, great atmosphere with staff that join in.
The bar food had always gone down well.
S. B.
It was quiet and good place to drink. I really enjoyed play darts. Good service too.
S. R.
Nice pub, has air conditioning - bigger than it looks from the outside, nicely decorated and good service
M. S.
Always an interesting post work crowd. Not cheap but good atmosphere and good range of beers. They generally show the football.
M. D.
Great Post work boozer. Good choice of beers and normally busy. Decent bar staff too
J. V.

M. C.

M. C.
Good selection of beers, decent pub food, couple of dart boards tucked away in a nook. Quite a few screens showing football.
y. p.
Love it.. Looks like world war 2 bunker.. Nice beer selection.. We had room at back which was kind of private..
N. L.
Great little pub hidden away on southwark street. A massive array of beers, mostly german. Really really friendly staff. Also do meal deals at lunch.
N. P.
Fast friendly service, good food and football. Only didn't get 5 stars cause the neck oil wasn't in stock.
L. T.
Nice, non pretentious place, neither crowded nor desolate. Great place to meet up and chat. Oh and nice selection of ales too
L. D.
Service was fab and the environment was clean, but there were so many flies. It was quite off putting actually. In the end quite a few were swimming in my drink :(
C. M.
Bar staff were friendly but a bit flaky. Good beer selection.
W. M.
Decent place. Not too noisy, plenty of room, good selection of beers
K. B.
Fairly decent bar, large and spacious. Has dart boards and good beer selection.
L. H.
Friendly bar staff... not too lively. But good for a catch up. Neat cellars you can reserve downstairs..
A. B.
Fantastic bar, great atmosphere and the pulled pork nachos are the best I've ever tasted.
F. L.
Underground drinking hole with a great selection of beers on tap, with a lively atmosphere and lots of screens to watch sports.

It's alright. Nothing spesh and you'll never get a seat in the week, but fairly prices for a pint

Good selection of beers, quite spacious. As everywhere in London, it does get pretty packed on Thursdays/Friday nights.
D. T.
A great cellar bar for watching sports. Great staff and great beer. Good combination!
T. R.
A good drinking pub, shows the football and a wide selection of beers. It can be noisy and a bit sticky
S. P.

C.
Great pub to watch the rugby in. Decent drinks offer. Good staff.

Love this pub. Cheap food, reasonably priced beer (for central London) and a great atmosphere

(Translated) Nondescript pub in the cellar vault. Ordered at the counter and paid immediately. I find that something unusual. I personally prefer to be served at the table.
The selection of beers and the quality of the food was nothing to complain about. Delicious burger with fries and cabbage. Happy again 👍

Gerne wieder 👍
