J. M.Simply excellent Ram Pub company boozer. In other words an old Young's pub which is absolutely brilliant for beer and a very trad night of drinking. Warm, cosy, friendly and welcoming, it truly is one never to miss. Very old and the wainscott is the original as far as I can make out. Yes there's an old word, wainscott. TOP DRAWER. Get there.
E.A nice little pub, tucked away off the main streets (hence Surprise!). The staff are incredibly lovely and friendly.

S. H.Lovely Pub! This has been an absolute find for after the gym with my pal, lovely garden (heat lamps!!) super clean and cheap too! Safe to say, we have found our weekly spot. It is a local pub but everyone is really friendly and welcoming. With love, the gym ladies :)

N. B.Great little pub on the edge of Larkhall Park. The kids can play out easily. Monthly BBQ on the large sunny terrace in summer. Darts all year round. Friendly crowd, staff and publican. It's the real deal. And they have a very nice new conservatory that you can use to host an event. Definitely a nice place to spend a few minutes or hours!
J. T.Attended a family party here at the weekend, in the conservatory part of the pub. Really lovely pub, nice outdoor area, the conservatory was really good for a party. The landlady was so helpful despite being very busy. Nothing was too much trouble, spotlessly clean, and a great atmosphere, a little gem of a pub.

P. L.My first visit to Stockwell to meet my friend, and we happened upon this pub. Very pleasant atmosphere and good beer and wine. Everyone including the staff friendly and not intrusive, so we had a really good time, staying two hours longer than originally intended! Reluctant to recommend it as it could easily become very popular, but it deserves it.
B. P.Excellent place, good staff lovely outdoor seating area l, dog friendly but have to let the bar staff know. The Surprise is just of Wandsworth Road and when you get there you’ll definitely get a Surprise. Will definitely return.

v. f.Been coming to this pub for the last 3 weeks with a group of friends on a Friday evening & have really enjoyed it. Sally the owner is very friendly & always gives us a pound for the juke box. It's cosy, friendly & has real character.
D. C.In the seventies this was my favourite watering hole. Apart from the Missing pinball machine it's getting a bit of that feel back. Loved my recent two pints of Special.
D. H.We first visited The Surprise as students at The Polytechnic of the South Bank, Wandsworth Road back in 1976 and celebrated graduation there 4 years later. Returning for a 40-year reunion last Saturday, we were pleased to find this familiar haunt remarkably unchanged - cleaner, lighter but still resonant with our memories. The Young's beer, both special and bitter, was well-kept and good pints were enjoyed. The landlady was very welcoming. There is now a lovely outside seating area with the unusual feature of a petanque pitch.

C.Nice little pub right by Larkhall park. Friendly and welcoming staff, usually have events going on ie bbq's for the summer, discos, live music etc. Would recommend if you like a traditional style pub!
