🚇 Lambeth North 🍺 £5.50 Steigl ❤️ This pub was the last stop on a day out with the chaps on a crawl around Lambeth North Tube Station, we were all well oiled when we got here and hankering after some tucker before we made our way home. I had the Buffalo Chicken Burger which had a nice kick to it, the lads ordered wings, steaks and burgers all of which were devoured in no time at all. This was the quietest we had been all day and the food here really hit the spot. When I order a pint I rarely deviate from lager, even though the choice of beer is vast these days. I ordered a pint of Steigl which is an Austrian lager and couldn’t get enough of it, I should start being more adventurous with my beer choice. One thing I must mention is the rooftop terrace. When you come here in warmer weather, it’s a great place to hang out and take in the view across the park to the museum. The decor here is modern and contemporary, on the exterior you can see the pubs victorian heritage and splendour, it’s a such a beautiful building, not sure about the paint job though. . When I visited this boozer all I wanted was a decent pint, some comfort food and The Tankard definitely came up trumps. There was a great atmosphere here and the rooftop terrace is a place you want to spend time in. @brewdogofficial have got it right here. . 📊 Information correct on visiting 28/05/21

Sorted us out at last minute after The Ship down the road couldn't be bothered to inform us we were wasting our time coming for the lunch we'd booked as they had no chef. Good selection of beers. Food pretty reasonable if not Michelin. Seems to be about the same price as other pubs in the area, i.e. relatively expensive.

New owners and new staff, but still pretty much like it used to be. The vegan burger is still delicious, and there is a pretty wide variety of beer options. What a lovely pub. My first time there for the bottomless brunch. The staff were super attentive and really lovely. Can't wait to go back!

A mixed bag. On one hand the staff are excellent - really welcoming and happy to let you try something before committing to a pint. On the other, the food took over 45 minutes to arrive after ordering, despite the fact that the pub was very quiet. The food itself was good but the drinks were not great. They were having a problem with the beer lines so there was a very limited selection. What I settled on was certainly not worth the £6+ per pint being charged.

A delightful quirky offering on Kennington Road offering a great selection of beers and all those other things that people drink. Plenty of food on offer too. Staff are lovely and helpful, the music is terrific. All is well with the world! There is also an upstairs terrace bar, just keeps on giving! Lots of flags in the windows, the SIX NATIONS is upon us (big grin on face! come on the boys). A lovely place to visit.

Had a Spicy lamb burger that was just Spicy enough. The yam fries were crispy and not burnt or soggy which seems to happen often. I had a cider and it was delicious , berry flavors without it being too sweet. Thanks for the great service

Beer was lovely, though the staff were slow to serve our app order which sat at the bar for long time after being poured - we had to go collect it ourselves. The buffalo sauce was far too sour to be enjoyable and didn't finish out chicken wings. Will be back for the beer, maybe not the food or avoid the buffalo sauce....

I love this place and I love the staff but my buffalo chicken burger has got saltier and too much sauce since I’ve been here the past few times. The staff were super nice about this and I gave my feedback, I would definitely recommend but hopefully the chefs take this into account so next time I come I can enjoy my burger a little more ❤️

The staff were very friendly and polite , there is the most beautiful terrace overlooking the imperial war museum . The interior design is of a high standard which makes you feel comfortable and relaxed . Very good to take friends and family. I will have to return and try the menu its looks amazing . Nice vibe as soon as you walk in, nice seating areas and rooftop area is lit up with fairy lights. It's nice and calming. Drinks are good and food menu looks good. Pleasant enough local, good selection of craft beers and a few nice ciders, also eaten there a couple of times and they've got a nice deck upstairs and plenty of outdoor seating for sunny days. Be warned though, both times I've been there the ladies has been in a state, and the staff just don't seem concerned.

Really lovely little gem of a place. The variety of different beers and ales is great, plus they frequently change up their menu. Food is also really good, and they offer plenty of deals throughout the week. £5 wing Wednesday is the best! Also, the roof top seating is brilliant in summer, looks over the park and has built in heaters for when it gets colder. Staff are lovely and friendly, more than happy to help with selection and let you try multiple draughts to help you decide. It has very quickly become our local and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

Great location with a roof beer garden terrace. Although crowded the roof beer garden is a great place to meet and drink. The ground floor bar was ok. The beer and wine selection was spot on and the very well priced food was cooked to order. We received excellent table service thus making it an overall success. I'd certainly recommend this if in the area or even if visiting the Imperial war museum.

What used to be the Grand Union has undergone a really nice refurbishment an re-brand back to the original name of the pub. the pub feels more homely and warm compared to what it was before and the friendly staff make it a great place to visit for drinks and food. the food menu is pretty great and has some nice veggie options and a few vegan options. It would be nice to see maybe a vegan option as a main meal, but what I got with the cauliflower buffalo was pretty tasty and far better than what other pubs offer as "vegan" food. Lots of drink options and food options for you meat, fish and vegetarians, plus also food for kids as they are very much welcome in this pub. Well worth a visit if you're going to the Imperial war Museum as it's just on the corner of the park.

Nice boozer and welcome addition to Kennington ( appreciate its been around for a couple of years). Miles better than the Grand Union chain of pubs that occupied the site previously. Pros - £3.25 for a pint under "cask of the day" although this isn't very well advertised. Surprisingly good food which is half price on Monday ( burgers) and 241 on Wednesdays ( wings). Plenty of seating although the setup has been arranged to maximised most out dining. It could benefit from additional comfy seating rather than the almost exclusively upright seating on offer. Personal preference, perhaps. Cons - service is absolutely DIRE. Takes a age to get served. Heater dont work on roof. Anything other than cask of the day is £££. Roast dinners are £20+ and large wine around £8.85. On the whole, a good boozer that could be excellent with a few minor adjustments.

A quaint experience to come and visit the home of the third! Exceptional food, with consistency, having eaten here on many occasions I can highly recommend you do too! The beer selection is also constantly rotating with high quality delicious beers and ciders, and an enormous selection of bottled beers too. Couldn't recommend more

I went here with colleagues for lunch and drinks. It is quaint on the inside. The service was reasonable but not exactly enthusiastic. The burger and sweet potato fries were acceptable. They have a good selection of beers, ales and lagers.

Came here on sunday 21st of april at about 2pm for lunch. All i can say is everything was fantastic, the two guys working at the bar were very knowledgeable about all the beers and even offered me tasters to help me find the right beer. The young guy took orders at my table and provided great service despite it being very busy due to the weather. Will visit again before i return to the US

A local pub is always a must have in a big city like London. I have been lucky enough to call the Tankard (previously the Grand Union) my local since moving to London. They did a great job with the refurbishment, the place looks amazing. The rooftop terrace is my favourite part of the Tankard, it's truly perfect for spending time in Summer with friends. The staff are great, always cheery and chatty - they even remember what beers you liked from last time. The food is decent and has a nice mix of options breaking from the traditional bar food menu you would expect. The only issue I can say that I have with the Tankard is the pricing. London is an expensive city but I do feel that £5.60 a pint is a bit much, however for me the positives of the Tankard heavily outweigh this negative.

Do I like or do I not? It was a massive relief to find this pub at the end of the street where Number 3 child's new digs are. It's always been sunny (spirit of 2018) and we've always been on the roof and its always been great. But I think maybe it's sloppily run (always "out of this and out of that" is a symptom), I suspect that if the weather wasn't so good I wouldn't be so happy.
