Reviews of The Telegraph
S. T.
Nice pub for Sunday lunch. Feels homely and has a nice fire. We had the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, roast pork and pigs in blankets. Sadly, today the beef tasted ‘off’ to me (perhaps too mature) which neither of us could eat and the pigs in blankets were way too salty. Pork was great though. Was disappointed as we have been a number of times and it’s usually great. Did not complain, as the taste put me off trying anything else (and no, I didn’t have COVID). Giving four stars based on previous experience. Hopefully it’ll be better next time!
S. P. (.
Very pleasant visit for a birthday lunch, food was excellent as was the service, there is a good selection of real ale all well kept and reasonably priced, inside and out is well maintained and comfortable ideal for either a meal or just a quick drink, staff are always welcoming and the atmosphere is great. We'll worth the visit.

Beautiful country pub in London! Nice atmosphere, gorgeous indoors and outdoors, lots and lots of beer on tap, and yummy food. Will be visiting again!
L. G.
Delicious Sunday roast. I had the lamb and it was everything I wanted to taste. My friends had different meals and all of them were satisfied too. Gastropub with original starters. Will be back.
B. C.
The pub itself is beautiful, well maintained, nice interior and great atmosphere. We were a group of 6 who thoroughly enjoyed all our meals. It is also great value for money. However, the service was terrible. They couldn’t have been less interested in being hospitable if they tried. I know first hand it is a challenging time for the hospitality industry, but this wasn’t a case if not know what to do, but they just did not want to be there - borderline rude.
박.
I like this restaurant. I felt the chef is very creative and challenges ingredients by unique recipe. I will enjoy meal there often.

i fell in love with this place. I should definitely come here in winter. An original place. Congratulations to the owner. I give the place a score of 10/9.5. I deducted 0.5 points because of the complex ordering system. I thought I was colorblind. The order website was so colorless. (I am writing as a software developer.)

Very friendly pub. Lovely atmosphere. Amazing food and even more amazing staff. Everytime we come here we're made to feel so welcome. With a wide range of drinks to chose from and a perfect menu. You have to give the telegraph a try.
A. G.
They have a great selection of beers that are changing often.
Their food always delivers and we've had many great meals asa couple and with groups. Their menu is also very varied and rotates with some great new options on a regular cadence.
O. L.
Popped in for a drink and some starters/nibbles. Nice cask beer although mine lost its head half way through. Great service and food! Even had some games to play. Would recommend booking on the weekends
S. C.
Lovely country pub with nice garden. The service was excellent although we had a few problems ordering through the app - dessert came first.
The calamari starter was nice although a little small. The halloumi starter was nice. The fish & chips were very good, great batter. The triple chocolate brownie dessert was good and the dark chocolate and orange tart was excellent.

Excellent gem. I was driving and saw this place and parked to eat something and saw how nice this pub is. I captured some photos as it was super cool. Will visit again. Locals are also nice.

Haven’t been to the Telegraph for a couple of years now but BOY I’M SO GLAD WE DROPPED IN. Exceptional food across the board. My partner and I love good food and we are lucky enough to be able to eat at a lot of highly rated places. This is hands down the best food I’ve eaten in a pub. It almost does it an injustice to call it a gastro pub because it’s even better than that. We had a selection of food from all parts of the menu and there wasn’t a single let-down. The team who looked after us couldn’t have been more helpful. It’s dog friendly (major plus). The loos are some of the nicest I’ve been in (boring but important). It was a Tuesday lunch and it was BUSY and the vibe is very chilled, cosy and relaxed. I will be returning as an ‘almost local’ on a regular basis. Thoroughly recommend 👏🏻👍

The Telegraph Inn has become a regular favourite for lunch for me and my mum. Easy to park, dog friendly, comfortable & cosy, including a log fire, attentive, friendly staff and the food is always excellent. Reasonably priced. What's not to like!
J. L.
Kids teas a bit pricey at £9 each, but the place makes up for it very friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of beers. Only x1 cider on though which felt a bit off balance. Good pub!
D.
Devine food excellent service and very friendly staff!!
Nickos the Greek is top notch!
P. M.
It is great to have the Telegraph Pub back again. The refurbishment was exceptional. It's a nice place to spend some time. The food is always very good. Their coupon program for mains is a great idea. It has certainly encouraged us to visit more often. I'm hoping we'll have more garden dinners there before it gets too cold.
D. J.
Nice pub. Food orders very slow on the multiple times I’ve visited. Today they closed the kitchen because they are too busy. So they don’t serve food and the staff don’t allow you to eat your own food. Not a place to come if you plan to eat spontaneously or have hungry children. A shame really we left after 1 drink, but would have stayed longer and bought a lot more drinks if they had food, or we could eat our own food.
N. M.
The pub is not a pub but an excellent restaurant with a very good chef and attentive staff with tables spread out to not be on top of one another. Been 3 times now for Sunday lunch and each time the food has been the same high standard. So top marks
F. C.
Our local pub. Food always good, staff always relaxed, friendly, efficient. Great atmosphere too - inside when cold, in the garden when mild.
J. H.
We had a lovely evening (30 Dec). Staff were very attentive, patient and food was fab (especially the Boeuf Bourguignon and the squid). Great ambience too - loved the decorations.
N. O.
Loved the newly refurbished pub and it does have the feeling of a country pub, and i love the history associated with the pub and the shutter station that was near. If you go there hoping to have lunch or dinner during the weekend it advisable to book a table, but they have available tables that are vacant without booking as a first come first serve basis. Great beers on tap that change due to the seasons and I had a pint of autumn red which was great. Do you go there after you have walked or cycled the heaths.
J. B. J.
Good Food. Great Wine. Excellent service. Delightful staff, friendly atmosphere and a fantastic remodeling and refurbishment theme too! This Pub deserves 5*'s. The manager Alisha is amazing, friendly, professional, engaging and attentive. A real credit to the Pub. Thank you Alisha and the TELEGRAPH .-.. ...- .
S. M.
Great pub, big yet cosy, excellent food with quite a few vegan options. By far one of the best, if not the best, in the area.
k. c.
The decoration is of those international look pubs that is enjoyed by people across the world . Polite friendly efficient staff . I had the fish n chips which were perfect and the mushy peas with a hint of mint .
T. S.
Great service, lovely country feeling in Putney Heath. Good food well presented and reasonably priced. Excellent staff. Jiggly recommended
R. H.
Good food, big outdoor space. Enjoyed the steak burger and chunky chips. Plenty of parking although it was in the overow car park.
M. H.
Nice large out-of-the-way pub by Putney Heath. Plenty of room for family lunches/gatherings. Not eaten here but beer generally good🙂
I. M.
Have eaten here a number of times since the reopening last year, and the food has been excellent. There's also an excellent gin menu and a decent selection of draught beers. Service can get a little slow during busiest times but that's to be expected. Definitely the best pub in the local area in my opinion.
S. A.
Excellent food and very attentive staff
Reasonably priced and we enjoyed a celebration lunch for my brother's birthday
We will be back on 5th December for my Husband's birthday
D. W.
Great pub with food well above most in the vicinity. It's very spacious without feeling like a barn, lots of seating, excellent range if beer and wine, great service. Quite smart but not too smart - can't really think of anything I didn't like about it
P. C.
They would benefit from some simple lunchtime pub fayre. Good bar and beer though, so you live with the deep fried halloumi chips!
N. N.
Fantastic place. Warm and clean with lovely people and very good food. I recommend. Very nice time and lunch
J. T.
The truffle fries are to die for. Also had curried squash soup and chicken liver pate.
Shout out for the lovely soup spoons. More like a mini ladle!!
Staff attententive and friendly.
Highly recommend. Exceptional value for money
P. S.
Great place to visit. Has a non smoking area outdoors for dinning which is a real bonus. Been here a few times now, the staff are great and in particular Nicolas who was extremely helpful and a great host. Great pub grub and a vast selection of drinks.
J. G.
First visit to a bar post easing of lockdown restrictions. Staff were all really great and helpful. Wifi in the beer garden, and a selection of beers. Only downside is that its not the cheapest establishment in the area. However, will return to try the food one day as it all looked good and appeared to be generous portions.
D. M.
Hi , we went to The Telegraph today. With no reservation. We were offered a choice of tables. The place is immaculate. The service is fantastic. Very friendly and down to earth. The food was amazing. We paid with both card and cash.
Very happy
Damien Martin.
D. S.
Great outside space for you and your dog. Very friendly staff bring a dog bowl with water for them. The food tasted great but bigger portions of the pork roast would lovely.
B. P.
I had the roast turkey, the roast potatoes tasted very old and dehydrated, no parsnips or cranberries as promised .My partner’s pheasant was a lot nicer. The sticky toffee pudding dessert was burnt . Fast service but very expensive for the quality of food.
C. P.
Very nice place, beautifully decorated, great and big garden, nice staff, delicious food and always something new on the menu. Highly recommended!
K. C.
I love the location, it is very quiet around, not on the high street. Great food, lots of space. I prefer outside when I pop up with my dog, and the garden is not paved which is beneficial. Very green. Thanks
C. B.
Amazing food. Great service. Lovely outdoor garden.
A.
Very traditional British pub, warm and cosy with super staff sbd a great menu
P. T.
Beautiful pub with plenty of outdoor space. Food selection and quality is beyond the typical London pub. The only downside is that the app to order food and drinks is utter garbage, but it's bearable.
J. a. s.
Great food. Great service and that allow for 4 legged friends. What's not to like.
R. E.
Love the Telegraph. The staff are always great and make a fuss over our doggo. Lovely to go for a walk in the heath and end up here for a drink or a good meal.
F. F. (.
High quality food, not huge portions, never disappoints on quality!
A. G. U.
Lovely sunday meal with family
A. G.
Fantastic place in the heart of the Heath. It’s looking amazing after the refurbishment and staff are very friendly. Food is also very tasty. We keep coming back with our kids for lunches whether it’s weekday or the weekend. We will be coming back over and over again.
A. W.
The Telegraph is cavernous by London pub standards and has a great selection of drinks - including Belgian beer. Refreshing on both counts.
N. M.
Such a beautiful pub and really lovely staff. Look forward to visiting again
I. O.
A local treasure which I missed a lot whilst it was closed until recently. The location is everything and the beautiful outdoor seating is a godsend given the pandemic and the summer weather! The food is good, whilst not outstanding and it could be that there is a need for more staff to adequately cover the dozens of tables added outside; it takes a good while for food to be served when busy, which is both times I have been recently. All in all, I am delighted to have the Telegraph back!!
R. G.
Lovely food and top service. Menu has plenty of Vg options and there is a gluten free menu too 😀
M. H.
Great food and wonderful service in this gen of a place. If you want to eat on a Sunday then booking is recommended.
d. b.
Have only sat outside but already love this pub. Great beer garden when my daughter can roam and the staff are incredibly friendly. Such a great start considering they've opened in tricky times. Food also very reasonable price considering the competition.
N. N.
Lovely place. Great outdoor space, amazing food, and feels like it's right in the countryside. A real gem.
J. L.
Excellent food, very friendly service. Nothing but good to say about the place
K. H.
It's cozy gastro pub in Putney heath surrounding forests. You can enjoy beer with your friends and family there.
N. D.
This was one of my favourite pubs in my local area before it closed for the refurbishment. And I'm happy to say after a the refurbishment & Covid19 I finally managed to meet with friends in my favourite country pub in zone 2
J. S.
This place gets 5 stars for the slow cooked lamb alone. It was absolutely delicious. In addition the staff are really friendly and I can see that on a sunny day (it was pissing down with rain when we went) the garden must be a great spot to spend the afternoon
D. B. (.
Great pub, extensively refurbished during lockdown. Very tastefully decorated interior - cosy with a good ambience. And the food was truly excellent - worthy of a gourmet restaurant. A great return for a much-loved pub, well done. Would strongly recommend.
D. M.
Brilliant ! Cosy atmosphere, professional and friendly service
K. D.
Nice food and friendly service. Good beer garden when the weather's nice.
A. T.
Good range of beers available. Nice environment, and very handy for the 424 bus
J. K.
Wonderful pub with a lovely county feel. Food and drinks were excellent for the price, the setting is quiet and relaxing, but also great for kids, and the staff for helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!
S. G.
Gorgeous gastro pub, fantastic food and great service. Even when super busy the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The outside seating is beautiful and very sightly. Highly recommended.
C. K.
Nice location surrounded by a lot of green. To me the guests looked a bit posh .... Food was good but I would suggest to stick to the pub food and not have the Italian or Indian style dishes as they all taste a bit like english pub ☺.
E. H.
Great pub after walking the dog on Wimbledon common. Good food and friendly staff
H. T.
Lovely location and staff on top of great quality food (especially for the price) and extensive drinks menu makes this pub an absolute new regular for me. Worth the trip even if it's a little out of your way.
R.
its a really nice place, lots of luxury places and firesplaces, its quite quiet aswell so it's a nice place to be with yer mates
L. I.
First visit. Very impressed. Attentive staff and the food is delicious. Highly recommend it.
C. G.
Lovely country pub, booked here for my mum's funeral, 16 people, food was very good service was excellent, friendly attentive staff. Everyone thought it was lovely. Pub itself is delightful and garden is beautiful. Would recommend highly for any event.
M. L.
Enjoyed a family lunch today. Very busy picturesque pub and the service was generally good. My only criticism was that the sticky toffee pudding was lukewarm on arrival.
N. G.
Without doubt best food in a pub for miles and probably better than 90% of Putney restaurants
D. M.
First time here and won't be the last- lovely pub and nicely decorated with a good beer garden. Good service, brilliant food and a decent beer/tap selection.
A. B.
A lot of panic from staff last weekend over us sitting at a table out of the rain which was reserved for an hours time! Stayed 1hr 30 & no one showed up which seems to be happening a lot with people making numerous reservations just to get in somewhere! Usual Sunday afternoon atmosphere- kids & dogs. Not a pub feel
c. o.
This place has been through so many different management changes over the past year and I am so glad that the current management have committed to this wonderful spot in the country of Putney. As a regular to this pub for many years We attended again for the 3rd time since latest and great refurbishment we were once again wowed by the food on a very busy fathers day. Great location, great food and great service.
D. S.
Very nice pub in a great location with excellent food.
A. J.
Just love the attractive new decor and atmosphere in The Telegraph. We went there for dinner and the staff were all so friendly and looked after us perfectly. The menu has many options and the food and wine we chose were delicious. We had a great evening and would highly recommend The Telegraph. Outside, in the garden, every effort is being made to accommodate people within the Tier 2 rules. As well as numerous outside tables, there's a tented, paved area with heaters, good lighting and spaced tables. There's a good takeaway menu, too, from which we have enjoyed excellent fish and chips with all the trimmings.
A. M.
Great food and always a good atmosphere at this pub.
E. C.
Food always amazing, outstanding. Today wasn't Nikola's day to serve. On top of all he forgot to give ours meal tickets. The other staffs was great. Wise if GM watchs Nikolas performance to work improvement. I will be back this Friday for a pint or 2. Thanks.
J. B.
Lovely food, nice staff, and great atmosphere.
J. C.
I came across this pub while out walking and as the garden was quite busy I chose to sit inside. The staff were very attentive from the outset and I was offered a drink straight away. I didn't know which ale to order so a kind member of staff by the name of Izzy offered to send me tasters.
Izzy was very professional and friendly and really made me feel welcome.
Not just a lovely country pub but with staff members like Izzy and others you're onto a win and I will definitely be back. Thank you.... Great service all round:)
S. G.
Lovely pub, dog friendly, great atmosphere.
D. M.
Tasty sunday roast and good service. Love the new decor.
E.
Amazing pub with great food and service. Highly recommended.
Will definitely visit again.
C. D.
Had such a great experience at this pub! Beautifully renovated with lots of lovely outdoor space, delicious food, polite and friendly staff, great COVID secure set up. Over and above our expectations. We’ll be back! Thank you.
S. A.
Pub has recently reopened and it has a much improved range of beers. I've yet to try the food but it looks promising. So glad it's been revamped, great location!
D. S.

G. A.

J. H.
Lovely pub with a big garden in the middle of the woods hidden away from Patney heath.
Good selections of beer, child friendly. It is fantastic that you can park for free if you come by car
M. M.
Came in for a Christmas meal with friends, food was great and pretty reasonable for the quality. Service was top notch, Tish(?) looked after us that evening and was super attentive. Good job team telegraph v impressed.
Only feedback would be a few more heaters outside(weather was miserable when we went though)
R. J.
Could not be more thrilled with the revamp of this incredible pub; it’s a gorgeous building with perfect decor, and there’s a great selection of beer and wine. There’s outside tables for the covid rules and the inside is warm and welcoming. It’s still very new so service can be a little confused but you couldn’t find anywhere nicer for a long lunch or a delicious evening meal in comfort.
F. S.
Nice pub in green surroundings. Good food and very welcoming staff
M. C.
Lovely open air seating in a wooded setting. Good food and very pleasant, efficient staff.
A. D.
Good food and service, great to be down the pub and decent Covid secure setup
T.
The Telegraph has a very pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. The building and garden are well maintained. (I've seen staff tending to the garden).
The current system in place for covid is similar to most. There is a queue at the entrance to the garden where there is a test and trace qr code for scanning (by each member of your party) however if you do not have the app or a smart phone, the team will collect your details via the trusty ink to paper technique. The team explain all of this to you.
Dont be put off if there is a big queue as it goes down quickly and its worth the wait.
We were once told that there was a 20 to 30 minute wait, we were seated within 10 mins. I feel they over estimate the time to be on the safe side.
If you booked a table ahead you will bypass the queue. The tables under the canopy to the right of the building are the bookable tables which have a "normal" (whatever that is these days) restaurant table waiting service.
All the picnic/garden tables are first come first serve but you're given a guide time limit on the table. I am yet to see someone be told their time is up though so whilst I am not encouraging people to abuse the system, I wouldnt be put off or worried about time limits.
The staff members that greet you are always friendly. And more than happy to take time to explain anything you arent sure of. Every table is fully sanitised between customers.
Once you are seated there is another qr code on the tables next to the table number. The preference is for the customer to scan the code and order and pay through the website to reduce contact but you can still order via a person if needed.
Now if I could deduct a quarter of a star, this is where I would do so.
The online ordering menu is not great.
I had a malibu and coke ordered via a person on my first visit (phone battery died) however on the following visit according to the website menu they dont serve malibu and coke (along with a lot of other bar items)
Not only that but there are no options to add or remove ice (I have sensitive teeth)
So I ordered my families drinks via the app but had to order and pay for mine separately through a person making the contactless endeavor a little pointless.
I've eaten twice here, every single thing about the dining experience is exquisite. From the gorgeous crockery and quality cutlery to the presentation and generous portion sizes.
Each mouthful of each thing that I ordered screamed luxury and fine ingredients.
From the perfectly cooked and seasoned huge garlic and chilli king prawns to the beautifully moist sticky toffee pudding lashed with smooth toffee and garnished with what could have been the freshest half a strawberry I have ever eaten in my life, and a side of gorgeous vanilla ice cream in a perfect little ball and a fresh mint sprig on top!
The food honestly makes you feel like you are on holiday!
It is definitely worth the money. It's a real pleasurable experience.
One thing I notice is a lot of posh/wealthy/ upper class people come to this pub and yet there is nothing pretentious about this place and I see that as a massive positive.
The Telegraph is a "what you see is what you get" very honest place.
It's a beautifully kept friendly, welcoming, family and dog friendly public house that serves delicious food and slightly expensive drinks (maybe not expensive but I have only just moved to London and we havent been allowed out to drink for a long time lol) to all members of the public with out judgments by the very attentive and happy looking team members.
I'm very happy to call the telegraph my local and I will be a regular here.
It's clear to see the staff members are happy and enjoy being there, perhaps as much as the patrons.
T. L.
Really nice pub. Fish and chips and pudding were delicious! Friendly staff too. We will be back to try Sunday roast.
A. G. M.
Nice beer selection. Tasty food. Lovely ambiance and excellent service!
A. V.
The Telegraph has finally reopened and it looks fantastic after extensive renovations. I like the interior, it has an effortless warm and cosy quality. They knocked down some walls and added space so it seems larger than it used to be. Good selection of beers and ales. Menu seems quite varied so will definetely be trying it out (so far had the burger and it was very good, huge patty). It's so great to see this place full of life again! It's well worth a visit especially when combined with a walk in the beautiful Putney&Wimbledon Commons.
L. S.
Visited today & looking forward to it as the place looks very smart post refurb. The place was quiet & we sat down for our lunch. Covid rules in place & working well, so felt safe on that count. Menu reasonably priced & nicely varied with plenty of choice for all likes ..... so far, so good, BUT, the service let the experience down. Plenty of staff & not many customers but had to wait too long at each stage of the meal. Shame as the food was good. Telegraph, you will have to do better & can't think how it would be when the place is busy.
R.
1st time there, very good meal ,very clean ,staff very friendly, overall will diffently go back ,loads of outside seating
R. J.
Very cool place! Definitely will go back. Staff were rude when we arrived
B. P.
Spent a very enjoyable evening here last week. Great quality and value wine and food. Staff were friendly and attentive. Very clearly explained their social distancing measures. Very much looking forward to visiting again!
M. H.
Very tasty game suet pudding, sticky toffee pudding also very nice, and a decent selection of well kept beer as well. Great stuff all round!
Easy web-based ordering to the tables outside - just scan the QR on the table and off you go.
R. V.
Excellent lunch menu with good selection of beers and wine. They have done a very fine renovation to this pub.
F. G.
Great wine, service and food
E. D.
Great country pub with extensive gin list and delicious menu. The staff could not have done more for us. One of the best pubs in SW London.
M. C.
We ate here last night. The setting is delightful, food amazing but what made it so nice was the lovely staff. We will be back.
P. C.
Found this pub by mistake when we took a wrong turn. Lovely find. Great service, good menu. Good covid precautions in place. Well done !
M. F.
Amazing meal at the newly re-launched Telegraph pub. Under new management and all the better for it. Lovely decor, great menu of well cooked food. Friendly service throughout. Well done guys, so sorry you have to close for Covid so soon - see you after the lockdown!
B. B.
Not a huge pub goer but would consider this our ‘local.’ Lovely pub, the staff, food, decor is really great and would highly recommend.
G. N.
The best roast dinner ice ever had.highly recommend
C. A.
Great dog friendly place with a big outside area.
L. C.
Loved it! Great ambience and delicious food
S. C.
Really really nice pub in the heart of the heath. Perfect pit stop after a bike ride, and especially in summer with their massive beer garden.
L. C.
My go to spot after a wander on the common. Staff are great, good selection of beer, and the food never disappoints.
J. P.
Great to be back. Outside area really nicely done and even though it was cold the distribution of the heaters was great so I was able to take my coat off. Food was good, service was great.
E. M. J.
So pleased The Telegraph has returned! Staff are so friendly and welcoming.
F. L.
Great staff and the food was to die for. would definitely go back
N. J.
Absolutely love this pub. What truly makes it for me is the staff. So friendly, helpful, and genuine. It’s the staff which make us keep coming back!
J. P.
Very good menu, enjoyed my chicken main course and waffle dessert. Pleasant, attentive staff and felt very safe. Prices reasonable for the quality of dining experience.
J. S.
Had fish and chips on the eve of our 2nd National Lockdown. Really delicious. Pub literally just re-opened up after changing hands and getting refurbished.., now have to close again. Looking forward to returning here soon.
A. C.
Lovely pub inside and out. Staff friendly. Chips very good but rest of the menu rather expensive.
M. G.
Great, friendly service, good range of local beers on tap, and food options - chips especially tasty! Really good to see the Telegraph open again.
J. S.
Lovely atmosphere, food not what it seems for some dishes but were tasteful.
S. T.
Most lovely garden. Interior was superb as well. Looking forward to trying the food next week.
E. H.
First trip to a pub out of lockdown and it was absolutely great. Delicious food, attentive service, lots of outdoor space. Steak Ciabatta was just heavenly.
C. X.
Just visited the Telegraph which has just reopened under new management. Absolutely fantastic food and ambience, friendly and informative service. Seems like we weren’t the only ones who thought so as it was certainly busy. Would definitely come back!

Really lovely pub - incredibly cozy decor, the staff are very friendly, the food was AMAZING! They did a great job with COVID measures too. Highly recommend.
E. K.
Excellent service. Great menu, well executed - familiar favourites and a few surprises. Significantly improved since the refurbishment. Huge outside space. Highly recommended.
B. D.
I've been using this pub for 60 years , had my first pint here, in the ale bar , a pint of cloudy scrumpy. It cost me 10 old pennies, about 4p in today's money. It's changed a lot since then, can't get the scrumpy any more but you can have a lovely meal, choose from load of beers, there are lots off seats outside now. But most off all it's still a good friendly bar. See you soon
J. R.
Calm, relaxed atmosphere. Free parking and dogs allowed too. Friendly staff and reasonable drinks prices. Sit indoors or outdoors.
A. S.
Nice place to relax. Feels like your are in somewhere that no one can find.
S. S.
Great venue in a fantastic location in centre of putney heath. Country pub off the A3. Classy and historic can't go wrong
D. b.
Cosy atmosphere, clean, professional and friendly service
A. P.
Perfect pub for a summer afternoon, with nice food, a huge selection of drinks and a massive outdoor space
D. T.
Super friendly and helpful team and great setting, particular at the moment with Covid restrictions. Lovely food and atmosphere, we had a great time
A. B.
Very nice meal and atmosphere. Too many dogs within the pub/restaurant itself
D. G.
Incredible location, you could be forgiven for believing you were deep in the countryside. Good food, the linguine with prawns and chorizo and Ploughman's platter are recommended, my sausages were good but charred giving them a faintly acrid taste. Beautiful beer garden and pleasant interior. Overall go.
A. L.
Nice pub, DOG FRIENDLY!!, great food, good portions; service a bit slow, maybe as it was a sunny hot Sunday. The sticky toffee pudding is one of the best I've eaten. Will definitely return.
R. C.
Great little pub good food and lovely atmosphere would definitely recommend:)
L. E. P.
Excellent garden pub, helpful and efficient staff, nice selection of ales and ciders. Great vibe
R. J.
lovely pub tucked back in quiet village location of Putney heath, amazing area surrounded by trees and heath-land you can hardly tell you are in zone 2 London!
nice selection of beers and wine, we tried some of the lighter bites of food, a starter and an omelette. All of it was really good, and the kitchen were really flexible when we asked for no mushrooms in the omelette they were quick to offer alternatives and changes.
Prices were fair for a Pub especially in such a location.
the outside seating was nice but all of it wet ... looks like they have re-turfed the ground so probably watering it every day, just wish they had dried down the seats after but its a small thing.
Good chance we will be visiting again soon
P. D.
Good service. Food inside and in their pleasant outside area. Reasonable
A. M.
Really stunning pub since the refurb, beautiful food and friendly staff to match, all covid regulations followed flawlessly. Highly recommended!
r. b.
Large Pub with a great location in the middle of the Heath. The food was quite good and friendly service. Dogs were welcome but we had to sit upstairs as weekends get busy..Great in the summer especially after a long walk
N.
Decent food and friendly staff. Sunday roast wasn't the best I've ever eaten, but absolutely fine for the price (think it was about £14) so didn't expect perfection, and of course that's very reasonable for London prices! Good selection of beers too.
S. C.
Delicious food, lovely staff, beautiful surroundings. We will be back!
S. L.
Great pub excellent real ale and tasty restaurant quality food.
D.
Lovely pub which manages to be in the middle of nowhere yet also near Putney. Green as far as the eye can see. Feels like you've wandered into the New forest when you get there. Great in the summer. Range of beers. Not cheap but tasty and good looking food. Recommended.
E. P.
God food and service with a lovely beer garden
P. E.
Great dog friendly place.
C. B.
Excellent in all respects. They catered for my daughters wedding reception and i could not fault the food, or the catering. The new management were helpful and professional in all areas of the planning and all our 100 guests were impressed. Many Thanks. C. Bailey
C. W.
Very nice pub at the top of Putney Heath
J. M.
Lovely space for family & friends dining
G. L.
Arrived at 2.30 on a bank holiday Monday expecting to be packed but was surprised to find more than enough space inside and out. Service was pleasant with food and BBQ delivered extremely quickly! Will be returning here regularly!
A. P.
Lots of beers to choose from. The two tried were in good condition. A mandatory requirement for an email address is not acceptable.
S. A.
Lovely pub in London with a feel of a countryside pub. It is in the middle of a park, so surrounded by the forest and birds singing. Huge beer garden outside, so it's great for bigger groups gatherings for drinks and fun.
S. B.
Beautiful location, lots of parking space for car but can be safely reached by bike. You can seat indoor but the place gives its best in the outdoor area, under the pergola during a sunny day. Food ok, and these days is hard to find a decent roastbeef in this part of town. Not exactly cheap. There is no play area for kids (July 2018).
M. T.
Nice pub. I go there often as I live locally.
Nice beer.
Nice restaurant.
BBQ awful !! Food precooked , dried out.
I don't understand why the barbecue is so bad,
Yet the indoor restaurant is really good.
It is letting this nice pub down over the summer.
C. M.
Nice food and great location after a walk around the common. Pity about the staff - the majority who had very poor English and knew nothing about the food they were serving or that service should be done with a smile. They also thought it would be OK to substitute the desserts that they had run out of with completely different ones without telling us. Did they think we wouldn't notice? One member of staff made up for the rest of them and gave us a complimentary tea and was very apologetic after the dessert mix up.
W. D.
A fantastic location, especially on a sunny day. You could imagine you were at a country village pub, not in central London. The service and staff are also good.
The food is not great. Very highly priced for the fare and area. The meat in particular is of very low quality.
D. H.
Much as other reviews have described. Prices a bit high for what you get. Obviously in the pub trade there must be quite a turnover of staff, so only judge service by recent comments; when I was there it was fine. Parking on nearby roads may be difficult at lunchtime, but there is a good sized car park at the back.
A. M.
My girlfriend and I had a Sunday roast each and couldn't believe how big and tasty it was for the price. I would definitely recommend the place based on just the roast. Good selection of beers as well with quick and friendly staff.
T. K.
Nice beers, nice atmosphere.
C. V.
Nice place, not so great food
A.
Beautiful country pub located well within the confines of the big smoke. A gem of a spot that offers an impressive garden, great food, and outdoor BBQ selection/bar in the summer months. Excellent stop for those with kids, dogs, or bicycles. If you happen to be exploring Richmond or Wimbledon and wind up near Putney Heath, you could certainly do worse than a detour to the Telegraph.
A. B.
Big garden and crowded with artisans pregnant women and students took my dog who made new friends this ambience has to be paid for
B. J.
Lovely pub with a country feel. The staff are really friendly and helpful
A. H.
Describes itself as a country pub in London which is pretty accurate. Food was not amazing but hit the spot after a long walk. Definitely book on the weekends unless you want to wait it out for a place in the bar. Allows dogs.
M. W.
Sitting outside on a pleasant day - food above average
G. S.
Super friendly and efficient service with great British dishes. We will back soon! Thank you!
K. L.
Really nice food, drink & staff excellent would recommend.
P. O.
Excellent, Good food, friendly service would recommend to anyone.
M. S.
Fantastic value and quality food. Wide range of beers. Very dog friendly
M. B. I. a.
Good food and venue, I'd recommend the bacon 🥓 lettuce and tomato 🍅 sandwich (brown or white bread choice) which comes with chips, salad or a cup of the soup of the day! This can be a pretty healthy meal as the bacon is lightly cooked and if you take all the fat off like I do it's even better. party. Really nice quality Sunday Roast with a choice of chicken 🍗, beef 🐄, lamb 🐑 or vegetable 🍲. Also a good place for a party but make sure you have prepared and organised everything properly as the service can be slow and I in fact received a sloppy service for our big group wedding party.
V. N.
Great food, very nice location, great staff.
M. S.
Lovely green leafy garden, first come, first served; beautiful renovated pub
J. P.
This is definitely one of the best pubs in South London near Putney common. A bit difficult to get to as there are no local transport available , you either have to drive there or walk there but it is definitely worth a visit, the food is great, the staff are cheery and in a tranquil location, quite busy on a Sunday especially in warmer weather, kids and pets are allowed and it has a huge outdoor seating.
S. H.
Pub delightful and food absolutely amazing.... Will be returning and recommending 👍
L. h.
The food here is always great. There is car parking as well, and it's right on a cycle path with bike parking too.
There is a lovely event room which is quite big so plenty of space.
S. H.
A large pub nestled on Putney Heath with plenty of outdoor seating. It's ideal for a sunny afternoon, but I wouldn't recommend eating here. We tried burgers and hotdogs from the barbecue and they were lamentable.
T. D.
In a quiet deserted location, The Telegraph is the perfect venue to celebrate a birthday party. They have great food and a lovely outside area to chat with friends. All ages are welcome and the shots are really good
T. C.
Beautiful location, food is not that great but it's ok.
E. K.
The best pub in the area. And there are a lot of good pubs in the area.
A. S.
The Telegraph is billed as a country pub in London and that couldn’t have felt truer when I visited on a Friday evening. It’s a good few minutes’ walk from any main road and surrounded by green. Handily the beer garden has plenty of space and tables, so even when it’s really busy I imagine you’ll still get a seat. Judging by the small children running feral with crayon all over their faces, it’s very family-friendly. And dogs appear to be more than welcome too. And if the fact that it’s gorgeous isn’t enough, the food is also amazing. They have a decent selection of starters, mains and desserts but we stuck to their sharing boards (£10 each – mains were a bit more) and chips. The tapas board was definitely the highlight – enough chorizo, squid rings, prawns, chicken wings and more to keep hungry drinkers happy.
T. D.
Good food. Not nice to be told that we’d been there long enough and need to leave in 15 minutes when there were plenty of empty tables and we were already eating dessert. Soured what would have been a pleasant afternoon
K. M.
One of South West London's beer gardens. Some good ales which change regularly and reasonable food. The Sunday roasts are good, but you may need to book ahead.
L. K.
Drinks: the drinks were good.
Food: The food was very tasty; however, there were visibly a little mouse running around at the empty end of the pub which was somewhat off putting. I Suppose the reality is that most places in London have mice.
J. B.
Beautiful refurbishment, great village pub feel, polite and excellent service, broad ale selection, tasty food
D. G.
What a hidden gem. Huge open space of a pub, with large gardens and a seasonal outside bar. Child friendly,& adult friendly too. Really a lovely little oasis.
C. B.
Great function room, lovely team of staff on hand to help. Performed my 50's and 60's tribute act here for an AgeUK event, highly recommend this stunning venue.
P. G.
My favourite pub in London. Great food, great staff, dog friendly, friendly people, lovely outside area with stunning view of the common. Just lovely xx
s. h.
Good pub with a decent selection of modern pub food and nice range of ales, including from local breweries. Huge beer garden, right on Putney Heath which makes it a great spot for a pint on a sunny day.
J. A.
When I went there was good ale, courtesy of an ale festival, good music, courtesy of a blues band, and very pleasant staff. So the place has plenty of pluses. But because of where it is the clientele put the 'count' in 'country pub'. Expect gilets.
C. G.
Excellent country pub, good Sunday roasts and a good selection of drinks on tap. The prices aren't too bad and the staff are very friendly and accomodating
R.
Feels like the middle of the countryside even though you're right next to the A3. Great beer garden, selection of beers is good and the food is super. If you hadn't guessed, I'd recommend it
W. L.
Food was good, service excellent and atmosphere really good for socialising with friends. After a starter and main course which were excellent, it was disappointing that they would not serve dessert as it was after 9pm, it was 9:10pm!
C. M.
Fantastic food, lots of space, friendly service and a lovely garden for summer and winter drinks. So glad this is our local.
V. S.
I found this venue after a google search and details on the website “venues for funeral”. A close relative had died and in keeping with Hindu traditions, the funeral had to be organised very quickly (5 days later). This meant finding a crematorium (Putney vale) slot and another hall to accommodate relatives for a Hindu prayer first. The date of the funeral fell on a Saturday and all the hotels within the vicinity were full. There were heavy snow related disruptions so other venue’s telephone lines went unanswered.
I called the Telegraph at 8.00 pm and spoke to a person called Kinan. He was kind and sympathetic and called back 30 minutes later to say they could accommodate our needs, having phoned head office at such a late hour.
A lady called Maria was in charge on the day. She stayed overnight on the night before the funeral to ensure that the hall was set up properly with 75 chairs and that the snow did not prevent her getting there.
She was very helpful on the day, warm and compassionate. Coffee and teas were provided.
I am very grateful for the outstanding help and support from all at The Telegraph at such a difficult time
If anyone has reservations about using a pub for anything related to a funeral, as I did, I hope you find this review helpful.
d. c.
LOVE this pub on the common feels like being in the countryside great food and choice of drinks staff helpful and best of all very DOG friendly only down side is it's a little pricey but definitely worth a visit
G. C.
I had a fantastic meal with friends on 10th December and I am pleased to recommend this lovely Country Pub in London.
Thank you Kinan and staff for the wonderful experience.
K. B.
Situated in a nice spot and lovely environment friendly staff
R. J.
Lovely, and very well presented food for a pub. In great settings for a London pub, you really do feel like you could be in the countryside.
J. T.
Nice entree, pretty good coffee. Service a bit too distant.
N. P.
Don't come here, it's my local and it's hidden away from prying eyes. I don't want the riffraff to discover it.
J. R.
Nice buzz and food was good.
S. H.
Wonderful location, good food and great service. Pet and human friendly .....
K. R.
Lovely venue for food and drink with friends or alone.
T.
Very poor decision by the management to stop showing the football in favour of rugby and cricket. Certainly sends a statement of who they want at their pub. Otherwise, good place, relaxed atmosphere, staff friendly and food ok for the price.
M. Q.
Lovely pub with a huge garden. A couple of outdoor heaters would make it perfect. Tends to close early if quiet.
m. k.
Great food great interior and great service
R. R.
Beauty place nice Service foot fenomenal good bless you
J. E.
Brilliant local pub. Excellent food and service.
S. M.
Have eaten there with friends twice in the past fortnight.
Unspectacular food in pleasant surroundings.
Bar tender Dan was so charmless as to be verging on rude.
M. M.
Great pub atmosphere and lovely garden for sunny days - weekends are very busy and waiting for a drink or to place your meal order may take awhile - order pub food as the salads are not worth the value paid
P. B.
Great family pub and also served as our wedding reception venue. Always order the sticky toffee pudding for dessert.
S. D.
Great garden, food good
A. P.
Great evening! Good dishes and beer. Table outside. A very old English pub! Every dish has big or small version.
R. A.
Had our wedding reception here on the upstairs floor and the staff were excellent. The place looked great and the food was very good. Thanks to all!
D. B.
Food was quite expensive, had to send the burger & chips back to be heated, arrived luke warm, would go back in the summer to sit outside for a drink, thats how i came across the pub in the first place a bike ride. hay ho
J. S.
Local village pub great outdoor space with outside bar and seating indoors bar area some sport match shown don't go for this art the telegraph restaurant food is good , locals benift from a discount service on Sunday lunchtime has been slow upstairs they have events some being live music large car park can be reached by public transport dogs allowed and cyclists with bikes weekends families galore on a sunny day
d. b.
Echo what others have said about this Hiden gem... EXCEPT THE MUSIC IS WAY TOO LOUD AND INCONGRUOUS. I'm not against loud music in the right place/time (I've DJed for many years) but it's totally wrong for this pub, whose USP should be the relaxed country vibe it could uniquely provide in its locale. "It Takes Two" thumping out of the speakers is bizarre in the context and stressful if you want to relax in the pleasant interior or can't escape to the garden. OWNERS/MANAGERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE!
S. K.
Good venue, tasty food, fab service, certainly enjoyed the new look. Good luck post lockdown
M. H.
A lovely gastropub. Had a fantastic time on New Year's Eve. The bagpipe player at midnight livened it up enormously with dancing in sub-zero temperatures!
J. A.
Lovely garden with plenty of space for a summer's evening drink or meal while inside is very inviting with big squashy chairs to relax in.
D. K.
Great find, delicious foods, great service. Love it there
D. D.
Just been refurbished + looks lovely, great pub in the middle of Putney Heath + delicious food. Keep an eye out for live music + film nights, well worth a visit
A. T.
The atmosphere is amazing but the food can be improved.
E. A.
Nice country pub and good atmosphere. Food is very average and perhaps rather expensive for what it is. Good for meeting up with friends for a drink.
G. B.
The food is good and a fine selction of beer. The Club Sandwich is exceptional value - the menu dishes also very tasty..
D. S.
Decent friendly pub. Decent service and staff. Great outdoor area, ideal on summer evenings..
S. M.
Friendly service and lots of outdoor seating. The food portions are generous and the burgers and fries are top notch.
A. W.
A very comfortable and welcoming pub with an excellent menu and extremely courteous staff. Highly recommended!
F. S.
Lovely environment, good food, nice people
C. W.
Freshly rebuild pub with amazing outdoor service during those times
D. B.
Nice, relaxed place, with a reasonable although not extraordinary selection of beers and a reasonably executed, uninspired pub menu with the classics and nothing more.
C. A.
Loved the space outside, good food
T. W.
Nice on a sunny day. Children enjoyed their meals. Service was quite quick given it was very busy.
B. O.

Fantastic pub spot within great green spaces for a nice walk. The 🐔 roast was well done
J. D.
Great food, poor service. Three items on the menu not available including chicken. Good atmosphere, let down by the service.
V. d. l. F.
Great for Sunday lunch though does get very busy. Always different things going on during the week (including film nights and special meals)
p. h.
Nice pub. But it's Sunday. Cricket World Cup final is on...not showing it. F1 GP on..won't put it on. A tad annoying
S. W.
Been twice in a week with my disabled sister for lunch we loved it and would recommend it lovely food and not to expensive lovely staff very disabled friendly

J. K.

N. M.
Lovely pub expensive but worth it.
R. E.
Love this pub. Fantastic outdoors, good food and great selection of drinks
N. L.
Great pub with outside tables under the trees. Enjoyed the lamb Sunday roast
C. S.
Pleasant enough pub/eatery but often frequented by an unpleasant, unkempt, homeless-looking man in a Confederacy-style hat of the American Civil War. We worry he may be trying to spread right-wing ideas and general vagrancy amongst other pub-goers.
K. P.
£17 for a pint of cider and a large gin and tonic nice pub but crazy prices.
G. H.
Great food and beer
J. H.
Lovely secluded pub. Really feels like you are in the countryside here. Great Roast too

J. C. K.
Ok to visit on Sunday for lunch, but that's all I'd say this pub was good for
M. G.
Great outdoor space in the summer - village feel in the middle of London.
Food I thought was average.
N. W.
Nice enough but no beef roast available for the second time. And the smell in the toilets was awful.
M. R.
Nice pub good for sunny Sunday's but does get rather busy
