Reviews of The Thirsty Bear
D. T.
A super little place between Blackfriars and Waterloo bridges on the south side of the river. Unusual in that it has draught beer taps at some of the tables for all the wannabe bartenders. Also provides entertainment in the form of darts and foosball. Good cold beer served swiftly and happily. A good place for a beer and a laugh.
S. B.
The staff are nice, the food is tasty and prices generally fair. I will say though, the gents toilet absolutely stinks and needs to basically be painted in bleach. It has piss puddles on the floor (that look to have run from somewhere), and the smell is so bad it comes outside and you can smell it whilst playing table football or darts 😒
Honestly, in terms of everything else this is 5 Star, absolutely loved it, but that seriously needs fixing
J. G.
Highly suitable for thirsty bears. A lovely intimate venue with good drink selection.
Attentive team serving and lots of cosy spots to tuck yourself away in.
Not a good idea if your in a group larger than four as tables can be cosy / hard to come by.
D. T.
I enjoyed my time here with a nice mix of modern and old pub features. With the table we reserved, we could order drinks through a tablet there (with a payment card to secure a tab) and we could pull our own pints, Neck Oil and Camden Hells being the options. The self-service draught beer taps were available at only some of the tables but they were a nice novelty/gimmick all the same. Drinks ordered through the tablet were delivered very promptly. The selection of food was quite varied and our group all left empty plates so I'd say enjoyment of the menu was unanimous - the starters, mains and desserts were flavoursome and good portion sizes. We weren't waiting on our food for long either.
The prices were somewhat high but in this part London, this should come as a surprise to nobody.
The staff were polite, friendly and engaging, which always helps.
Based on my first (only to date) visit here, I feel confident in recommending the Thirsty Bear for those near Blackfriars Bridge/Station.

Will definitely go again for social time, the food is nice, so is the ambience. It's relaxing, nice place to just relax, bring your family to have lunch/dinner
B. K.
Nachos very generous for the price. Food and beer good value.
S. D.
Nice boozer but as a real ale buff the young Asian guy behind the bar didn't know that the ale coming through the line was finished despite it was coughing and bubbling. Mr Boss, please explain to your staff how real ale works. Training Training Training will make you busier. Trust me. I know.
E. R.
Nice atmosphere and lovely food but kept running out of the drinks on tap.First cider then guiness... was not even that packed so no idea what was up
A. M.
A pub that is kind of modern and old at the same time. Good beers, friendly staff and snacks or food available. Turns out to be a handy place to watch the football on a Sunday afternoon as there is a big room upstairs and the option to order remotely once you hand you card over.
J. C. (. a. J.
OK pub on Stamford Street. Two cask beers available when I visited. The one I had (Portobello Chestnut Ale) was not in the best condition. Lots of outdoor seating.
T. C.
Great location to watch football. Helpful staff when booking table. Didn’t hang much food, but it was nice
S. L.
Nothing much impresses me, but this pub did! Food exceptional and service great! Definitely worthy of 5 stars ✨
M. R.
Pleasant friendly service. Good ale, which I could sample first. My chicken salad was delicious.
Z.
The food was amazing and we loved the iPad service . The only thing we didn’t like is the beers on the self service taps weren’t any good main brands and the cups they give you make the beer flat very quickly.
M. P.
Good bar, great staff, surprisingly good cocktails, plus beer taps on tables
M. L.
No advanced booking required, simple access and ease of ordering through online menu.
Slightly on expensive side but overall very good atmosphere.
L. D.
Loved the service - drink choice and amazed by this fine moved a little away from the river and found a gem. Old school pub can't believe the difference in terms price and lack of tourists. Love this on a busy bank Holiday only just managed to squeeze us in.
L. W.
Usually at least one good and special beer on and the place has a dart board (albeit a beaten one).
Nice pub if you're near by or after something novel with self pour beers available at some tables.
M. C.
A great pub. Decent food and drink, top notch service. Can't fault them.
J. T.
Good choice of beers. Food ok.
Loos terrible, short on loo roll, no lock and no soap...😕
R. M.
A smart concept executed well. I know these days everyone under 40 is comfortable ordering drinks at a pub on an app, but these guys were doing it before it was cool. Friendly staff, the stress of queueing at the bar is totally removed as you order on the ipad at your table. Obviously the other gimmick is having the taps to pour your own beer at the table, you pay by the weight of liquid poured. Frankly I love this as a) you get to see who can pour a pint and who can't, and b) the service is even quicker! Good burgers too, will definitely go back.
J. E.
Nice pub. Good night with beers flowing 🍻🍺
A. B.
Great food, good value for money, service was great too
D. L.
Lovely beer and open until 1am which was great.
M. T. -. W.
Useful position on way to station. Food ok. Needs a bit of a clean.
A. S.
I’ve come here for years. The buffalo chicken wings were the best in London but no more. This sauce tastes like simple Ketchup with chilli powder. Wings are small. Whatever happened, you need to go back to the old recipe.
P. C.
Great bar, amazing burgers and really funny toilettes
R. K.
Food was good and service was good...only let down was the broken dartboard🙁 but still a decent pub.👍
C. C.
Nice bar, had a booked area upstairs.
Looks cool and quirky with the beer pumps at tables, I'm guessing you can book too user these, plus tablets on each table maybe to place orders? Not sure..
The food looked amazing, massive burgers.
I did have some sweet potato fries which were very nice.
Overall nice pub, London prices...
P. S.
Staff were very friendly! Good selection of beers too
T. B.
Solid selection of beer and ale. TVs with sport on dotted about. Charming decor and staff. And the food was really good and more than reasonably priced. Interestingly, you could order via a touch screen and pour your own pint at your table, but I was not sold on that idea - still a novelty that didn't ruin the experience as the staff were more than ready to come and take our order with pad and pen.
J.
Fun pub with a clever gimmick for ordering beer. Swap your debit card for their card and pour your own beer. Maybe a bit more complex than it should be but once you've got your card, you're pouring beers, ordering food and generally never queuing for stuff. Having the gents urinals as beer barrels is also quirky and arty. Only down side is upstairs is a bit rammed. The tables are on top of each other- but what do you expect on a Friday night. Definitely worth a visit.
p. l.
Excellent burgers, pleasant staff, neck oil on tap!
n. s.
Great food and beer options.
Lots of TV screens to watch sport
K. H.
Lovely pub great staff
M. J.
Brilliant place, fantastic pub with fabulous climate! Perfectly fits to general London overview. We had to walk a bit to get there, but it worthy. Just to be clear- there isn't superb food menu, but are tasty snacks, burgers, fantastic local beer and enough selection of whisky :-) what together with right place design makes it as complete... you need to see it!
J. C.
Wasn't that impressed with this place. The tables are all really big so it's not really the kind of place where you can go if there's only 2 or 3 of you. The iPad ordering service seems like a bit of a gimmick to be honest and not all the tables have the beer taps on which is a shame. Also the selection of beers on offer seems fairly limited compared to the Fountain and Ink just down the road.
Burgers were decent though and they do a good lunchtime offer for £10 for a plain beefburger, chicken burger or mushroom burger with chips and a beer.
M. M.
A great place to watch a football match. Great time
O. A.
Great pub with a easy ordering system meaning you don't have to call members of staff over or even leave your seat!
Went here to watch a rugby match recently, there are loads of screens to watch on; including a massive pull down one.
The food was absolutely delicious with the chicken burger being on point.
My only down point is that they served cola instead of coke, but still charged premium prices for it. Only a minor thing though.
F. L.
Decent pub with taps on tables and iPads which we never made use of. Good size, lots of seating and a decent beer selection. Not bad for the area, I think it's size is its best attribute. Nothing special, but not terrible.
S. H.
Nice pub, with a good pint, big TV's and a pretty decent burger. iPad style ordering for Table service.
K. P.
Just off the main embankment drag, not overly busy, friendly staff and good variety of drinks choice. Had fish and chips which was a bit disappointing. Peas weren't mushy and portion was a bit miserly, fish was thin and dry hidden in a solid block of batter. Would definitely return and probably go for something else on the menu.
Some of the tables featured pour your own taps which would probably quite lethal.
L. M.
We had takeaway, the others enjoyed their burgers, while mine had good flavor, was incredibly dry because the bbq burger, had no bbq. The main reason I ordered it. A thumbs down for wrapping the chips in plastic wrap. Our chips, while still warm, were also soggy. Think if it wasn't for those things, would have been a great meal.
M. C.
Brilliant pub with a great variety of beers on tap. Very spacious with a massive upstairs area which can be reserved; this also has a bar although the beer selection is limited. The clientel are mainly after-workers, but largely friendly! The bar staff were good for a chat and quick to serve.
D. T.
There are beer taps on the tables. Those previous 7 words come together to form the most amazing concept ever. You can also order food and different drinks from an iPad on the table. The only thing that could make this better is if the chairs had toilets built in to them. You would never need to move until closing time.
p. t.
Thank you to the team at thirsty bear, we had an early Xmas get together there with the delicious set menu and despite being only late November, the night was a total success! Thanks to the chef, the food was so tasty and incredibly generously portioned and he regularly came out to check we were all happy. The front of house team also gave us a great night. The vibe was perfect, not too restauranty, plenty of energy and fun. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a Xmas meal with friends over the next month. See you next time !
J. S.
We had a lovely afternoon at the thirsty bear, the staff were all friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was cheerful and the food was very good. They have a good selection of beers and wines including three real ales to choose from. The burgers are fantastic with an extensive selection of toppings available to customise your selection to your taste. Happy to recommend the thirsty bear.
A. M.
A good selection of drinks on tap and bottled. There are many screens with sports shown frequently. The food menu has changed recently, what was an epic selection or burgers is now a mix of burgers, tacos and random main menu options. I would recommend the burger with sweet potato fries! We were a bit disappointed the menu has changed so drastically.
It can get quite busy but you can reserve tables in advance, with a selection of tables having beer taps! There is an ipad ordering system by which you can open a tab at the bar and order food and drinks at your table, with table side delivery. You can of course still order at the bar for both food and drinks but the tablets can be quite handy when it is really busy!
M. N.
Great bar, good for big groups and thirsty drinkers! I'd recommend ordering beers on the tablet, as pouring your own pint is not always successful unless you're a bartender (which I'm definitely not...) My first attempt ended with 75% foam and 25% beer :D. Also ordering is lightening quick... Unbelievably quick service! And the best part is that it's not super busy on Fridays. Will be coming again to the Thirsty bear 🐻
T. W.
Fantastic pub with great staff. Very friendly and made my visit on my birthday a night to remember!
R. K.
Tasty burger for decent price! Good place!
R. C.
We had a booking for 6 on a very busy evening when the football was on, which we weren't aware of at the time of booking. This wasn't a problem, was quite noisy in the upstairs bar area is all. Novelty of being able to order drinks and food from an iPad built into the table. Drinks service was hit and miss. First round very quick, second and third very slow. Food was alright, chicken burger was huge and quite tasty. Friends had beef burgers and we're quite disappointed with them. I'd go again for the beers when it's quite.
G. M.
Lunch special is very good value
B. G.
The Thirsty Bear provided a plethora of cleansing, sumptuous beverages that quenched the thirst of all. I am surprised the bear is thirsty.
D. “. B.
Tropical bear cocktail was delicious. Great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Pay a visit.
A.
This place was great - watched the football there and had drinks.
Each table has an electronic terminal that enables you to order drinks and food, without having to get out of your seat. If it's busy you'll have to have reserved your seats in advance. Food was real good and prices are ok.
H. J.
Excellent mix of lively but not too busy, football screens on top floor but at just the right volume - not a footie fan myself but was happy to eat and drink here with the games on upstairs. Best thing was the staff, not used to staff going out of their way to give good service in a pub but thats what they did - for that alone i would honestly recommend.
J. J.
Nice location, very close to Southwark tube station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Had a very comfortable sofa to watch Arsenal vs Newcastle Sunday afternoon kick - off. Plus Arsenal winning 4-0 was a perfect result. COYG!!!!!
D. W.
Good drinking spot on southbank - decent variety of lager
p. s.
Had some great food as part of the Christmas menu.
Interesting food and drink order system at the tables but didn't get chance to experiment, this goes for the card operated beer pumps that are upstairs as well! Will be back to investigate one day!
G. C.
When my old office was in Blackfriars, The Thirsty Bear was the go to after work for my team.
The drink choices are great (nice selection of beers. Wines and gins!). They have an interative self-service tablet on some of their tables which is great for large groups!
Also worth mentioning is their Bufallo Chicken Wings... 👌
Would visit again in future if around the area. Go check it out!
L. L.
What's not to like? Quality beer or cider on tap at your own table or on the "beer wall" upstairs. Friendly service ordered on the tablet at your table ... & the clincher whiskey cider which tastes better to me than the rest of the ciders, & it's the cheapest!!!
G. M.
Probably a great place to watch sport. We just popped in for a drink, the "hi-tech" screens got in the way a bit as they're poking out of the table and you can't get rid of them or turn them off. Pouring your own pint was a nice idea but there were no spare tables so you need to book if you want to do that. Drinks were average pricing for the area but the barman split a tonic water over two G&T's which I thought was a bit cheap, small thing but kinda irritated me. Not a great experience .. might try again sometime.
M. H.
Great idea for a bar. Swap your credit card for a key card and order your drinks and food from an iPad on your table. Some tables even have their own taps so you can pour your own pints. No more standing at a busy bar on a Friday night, although you will need to book a table for all these benefits. It's a popular place. Prices are about average for central London but they have the deadly 3 for a tenner Jaegerbombs...
N. S.
Decent beer and food, and the new burger & pint lunchtime deal for £10 is a fantastic addition
C. G.
Decent enough pub with an interesting ordering system at the tables should you choose to use it, iPads to order food and drink, with taps on the tables so you can pour yourself. You can still order at the bar if you want though. Food was pretty decent and the drinks aren't stupidly expensive.
D. N.
It's a 3 star pub. Their beers are OK at best and the fancy tablet based ordering is temperamental. The food is middling. On the plus side though beer barrels as urinals and lots of TV screens as well as darts.
A. P.
Good fun actually. Pour your own pint via a personalised beer pouring tap on your table...pretty decent selection of beverages...just tap on your personalised iPad to select and pour. Good for work groups. Can't make it our regular haunt as its a little bit too pricey. The novelty, service and atmosphere warrants the slight price mark up. Certainly more exciting than an expensive wine bar. Decent food too...clean environment, well presented and cooked to perfection (assuming you know how you like your food cooked).
P. W.
Cool place, that doesn't quite know what it is, but that's what makes it great! Nice food, beer selection, and just a nice group of people running it!
Was a bit louder than I would have liked for a chat, and the card machine was down, but I'd still definitely go back. Tip - get the wings!
R. B.
Visited on a mid week night. Was worried that the online ordering was a gimmick but worked perfectly. Prices are decent given the location and ability to self serve etc. The jukebox is a nice treat and a good place to watch sport as well..I'd go back and take others.
s.
A great pub, spacious and enjoyable to spend time at. Highly recommended.
A. S.
A nice place to catch up on some wine and a chin wag if you happen to be in Southbank. I have been told that the burgers are to die for - unfortunately, haven't got to taste them myself. They have a good selection of ales and are not very crowded in general.
J. N.
A nice open plan pub, serving a regularly changing mix of high quality ales and craft beers as well as the staple lager and ciders.
This pub serves a good selection of food, but it is known of its burgers, which are both well priced and high quality.
For those of you with huge appetites, or who like a challenge - check out the Grizzly Bear Burger - 24 oz of steak mince, topped with pulled pork!
H. R.
Great pub. Book the table upstairs at the back. Comfortable sofa style seats, beer on tap on the table, your own TV, order food from the table, play music. What's not to like....toilets a bit Seedy!!
M. R.
Great pub with fun tables where you can order everything on an iPad in the middle. Adobe tables also have their own beer taps, so you can pour it yourself.
L. S.
Good atmosphere, great drink selection and one of the best bloody Mary's in the area.
J. P.
Great place to watch big sporting events but recommend booking a table in advance as it gets busy. Always a good atmosphere. There are Beer taps and iPad-like menus on table to serve yourself and order food directly to the table so takes the hassle away of ordering from the bar and waiting for service.
C. H.
Decent pub with good choice of pints. Seats need reupholstering, and the tablet ordering at your table is a bit of a gimmick, but does show live sport.
A. N.
Great burgers, good selection and massive. My fav is the sunshine burger with mango salsa and halloumi. Good beer selection as well. They also have tables to order food from iPad and you never have to get up! Cool men's toilet as well with beer barrels for urinals.
J. S.
Booze on tap. Order drinks on the table tablet and they appear in moments- perfect for large groups.
Good atmosphere, was packed on Friday evening
Didn't have any food but looked OK.
S. l.
Visited here on a very late Tuesday night.. Its a very nice and spacious pub with a good atmosphere
E. R.
Great pub. Loads of seats and beer on tap to help yourself.
G. V. D. M.
One of the best duck salad I ever had
S. L.
Great food, nice atmosphere
M. P.
Nice burger, friendly service, loved to order from the tablet at the table
n. s.
This place has its ups and downs.
They do not have a full menu for lunch but they do have a great menu.
They are overpriced but they have a great happy hour.
You can serve yourself from taps on the table but they take forever to serve you upstairs.
All in all it's definitely worth it!
K. P.
Nice place, good food however some burgers a bit overpriced. Good choice of beers. Didn't try tablet ordering system, so can't tell if it's working. Brilliantly done gents toilet. Will come back if in area.
m. j.
Great pub, fantastic service. The food was of very good standard.
H. M.
Really cool urinals made of beer kegs. Good beer selection too.
M. M.
The beer taps on the tables are a fun novelty and one of the waiters was lovely but they didn't have any of the advertised vegan options available and they were quite unhelpful and rude about it.
D. A.
Very modern, used the iPad to order food which can really quick! They make the most tastiest blueberry amaretto sour! Burger was great too although ive had better. Still a lovely experience....:)
R. W.
The Thirsty Bear knows what it is, it’s a pub for men to watch sport. Nothing inherently wrong with that. The presence of Yakima Red was appreciated, as were the tables with draft beer and touchscreens. Get yourself a seat, pour your drinks at the table (lager only sadly), watch the football. Thirsty bears will have their thirst quenched here.
C. C.
It's a fun experience being able to pour your own pints, but quite often there are taps out of order, and the Co2 pressure is too high meaning even experienced barmen/women can end up with a pint of foam!
B. M.
Tablets/pumps are a bit of a gimmick, and are not on every table. Mind you watching people fail to pour a pint was briefly entertaining. We left after one pint (from bar...) as the speakers were set to can't-hear-person-next-to-you-shouting volume.
R. F.
The food is excellent and the biggest drawcard for me so I'd say come when you're going to be eating. Beer selection is ok with generic lagers but also a few ales on cask and one craft ale on keg. Nice atmosphere and I like the tablets because you can get drinks brought to you without going to the bar. Drinks a bit overpriced though.
L. S.
Nice pub, one of the few that stays open till late at night. The burgers are great although the waiting time can be long. Their lunch deal for burger and drink is excellent.
P. G.
What's not to like? You get two beer taps on your table which you can just help yourself and it gets added to your bill. All other drinks, food and jukebox are ordered via the ipad on your table and delivered promptly to you. The prices seem pretty reasonable too.
D. F.
A neat little place. Enjoy the iPad-at-your-table gimmick and it's always fun to pour your own pints with your table's dedicated beer pump! Can get quite loud when the sport is playing, but this is not necessarily a bad thing.
J. M.
Very good value beer + burger. Good atmosphere on Fridays
U. P.
Very quiet for a lunchtime. The set menu was good value and tasted great
M. R.
Friendly staff and good drinks
T. M.
Who wouldn't like alcohol on tap ??? Hand in your ID and payment card and you get a thirsty bear card which activates the self service pumps and also the ipad on your table so you can order what you want... choose the music playlist.... go on youtube while you wait or simply top up your pint with the beverage of your choice. . Prices are good. Staff are friendly. Great for big groups. I always order the tuna steak salad and nachos.... I keep going back. I love the concept of this trendy bar . It is definitely somewhere to take your friends who love to drink and eat. Or just drink. . Great atmosphere and they show sports... winner ... x
L. G.
A chance find after a lunch at Oxo Tower. Perfect for a decent bottle of wine and a most enjoyable game of football.
C. “. S.
Arrived for the the England six nations game which doubled as a mate b-day drinks. perfect pub to watch code. Bonus was having a screen to order beers from our table - which kept the beers and social interaction flowing all night.
E. J.
A bit hipster, but the food was great. Ordering via iPad was pretty cool, too. I ordered the Vege-Bearian burger, and my husband ordered a meat-based burger; both were pretty easy to customize. Be warned, though, that the burgers are huge, and you should probably bring your appetite!
L. P.
We popped in here some years back to watch EPL games on their telly. Decent range of beers & lots of space on Sunday late afternoon
C. L.
Great burgers. Would be 4-5 stars if it weren't for the gimmicky ipad ordering system which never works out. Don't even bother with it, actually; just give the staff your order.
A. F.
Funky and cool way to provide beers...straight from your own table! Friendly staff and good selection of beers. Nice atmosphere and clean restrooms
J. H.
Quirky bar that has a traditional pub feel with a modern spin. Bear burger and hot dogs are tasty. Unusual fittings in the gents toilets with beer tap in the sinks and beer barrels converted into urinals !!!
S. B.
Had the calamari, Baja fish tacos and the Truffle mac and cheese. Calamari seemed pricy at $19 but was so worth it! Hubby loved the tacos and the mac and cheese was pretty tasty, would've gone perfect with a nice cold glass of pino gris! Service was reeaaallllyyyy slow. It's seat yourself so took a little bit of time for a server to bring us a menu which is understandable, but as we were seeing more and more people getting their food before us that had ordered after us we got more and more frustrated. Waters stayed empty for a long time and the empty calamari plate sat on the table for at least ten minutes as many servers walked past us. Asked for water refills twice before we actually got one. Music was a great volume and the "social" atmosphere was really neat. I would eat here again, but would want a different server for sure.
M. G.
Very good beer selection and good food. Can get a pint and a burger for a tenner. Some tables even have their own beer taps. Overall a solid choice
A. D.
This place was OK. Reasonable prices and the chilli Nachos were very decent, portion wise. I would say though it attracts a younger crowd and so was really noisy. Perhaps best left if you just want to chat.
S. K.
This is how all pubs should be - one of my biggest pet hates is waiting at the bar and not getting a seat. In the thirsty bear neither of these are a consideration as there is plenty of seating all with beer taps right by your seat. Just use your tab card to poor yourself a pint.
Each person can have a different tab card, so if you go as a group it's not a case that one person has to pay for everyone, or you have to try and work it out or anything like that. The iPad ordering system also allows you to order food (although they have yet to have the veggie burger in stock), as well as surf the net etc.
Worth booking ahead if there are a few of you and it's a weekend.
L. M.
This was our first stop in London and the atmosphere was nice and the beer and cider was good. What I dread is that we didnt order food. The burgers looked amazing and they were stacked so high our mouths were salivating. If I get back to London, this will be a stop for sure.
K. S.
I love this place, the food is ace, great selection of drinks, (I love the elderflower cider) and the staff are friendly too. Social and lively setting to watch significant sporting events, although of course it can get loud during those times.
D. D.
Great if you want a bit of novelty in your night. Just try to forget that you're paying a premium for the privilege of pulling your own (very foamy) pint. Don't expect much from the music, and if you want to use the jukebox, expect to wait a couple of hours to hear your song.
J. D.
Very interesting and fun pub that truly relates to their customers. I was here a lot when I studied in London, they welcomed us like regular Londoners. Good fun and plenty of space!
P.
Great bar where you can order at bar or order from a tablet on your table. Loads of screens for watching sports, etc. They also sell food which looked nice
R. B.
Very nice back street pub. Saff very friendly
They had 4 real ales on I had the hogs back tea, very well looked after. Definitely will use that pub again.
P. T.
Great pub, over two floors. The have tablets attached to the tables that allow you to order drinks without having to go to the bar.
P. R.
I went late last night for drinks. very pleasant staff. quick service, very nice pub. awesomome prices. been thirsty bears twice defo going again. oh and it was extremly clean too. makes a difference
J. S.
only thing that let this place down was that the pumps on the tables hadn't been cleaned properly for and we ended up with stuff floating in our beer, no such problem with the pumps at the bar and the food was lovely
M. M.
Only ever gone in for drinks but the bar staff are friendly and the place is nice to grab a pint after work if you’re in the area. Very relaxed atmosphere.
C. C.
This place has a lot of potential and used to be quite good but they need to hire professionals in the kitchen. The times I've taken the tuna salad, it was inedible. I asked for it to be medium rare and all the times it came super well done, that it was a tough as haloumi. If I wanted to eat haloumi I would order haloumi. But I ordered fish. Where is my fish.
A. G. O.
Very decent burger, nice beer and very good service
T. D.
Great place to watch sport while enjoying great food and a really good drinks selection. Burgers are very good.
Big upstairs area, and bar games (darts and fusbal) available downstairs.
B. C.
Quaint with super nice folks!
H. K.
Quirky and fun place for a drink, bringing the European style self service table beer pumps to London's Waterloo. With a variety of different beers and sports, wine and food available to order too the table all from a tablet.
You can even load the juke box and use the internet.
The one draw back is that as a pub it's self it's nothing special. In no way offensive but could do with a bit of character to boost the atmosphere. A bit of TLC could make this a 5* venue.
J. B.
Interesting experience with the burger challenge - only man vs. food style eating challenge i've really seen in the UK. Beer is good, pool is free, and you can order from an iPad. love it.
M. G.
Great Belgian beer!
C. H.
Great place it's open late
E. C.
Great experience pouring your own pints. Was a bit slow on the service as there were only two behind thw bar but it was a Friday night!
C. G.
Was a novelty experience having beer taps on the table and ipad ordering. On the ipad you can pick tunes for the jukebox (25p), order food, drinks, bar snacks, even fags! It was all a bit dangerous to be honest as we got absolutely hammered. The future!?
E. T.
If ya love beer and want to pour your own pints in the table, this is the place :) make sure to book a table if you are a big group :)
R. W.
For an afternoon watching the rugby with mates this was perfect. Booked a table and barely had to move. Lots of tellies. Food was decent it's it's fairly priced too.
R. L.
Fabulous. Great service. Keen staff. Nice venue
Friendly and welcoming.
M. H.
A quality burger for a reasonable London price. Self serve beer is a bit of a faff - better off ordering on the bar.
S. M.
Fun bar, with iPads and tab cards, would probably be better on a Friday or Saturday but really good food and drinks until the novelty of the iPad wore off!
G. C.
Great beers and good food. Be sure to get a tab, then you can pour your own pints, both at the table and at the side of the pub!
D. M.
Serves one of the best veggie burgers I've had. Ordering from the tables is a cool novelty. Could work on a greeting for the uninitiated.
L. T.
Not a bad little stop in, the menu was a little lackluster but if you are just after a quick and easy bite with a nice atmosphere it's worth a stop.
M. G.
Nice pint of Guinness last weekend, quiet as it’s away from the riverside (Sunday afternoon) and of course recently reopened after the lockdown.
R. A.
A pub that has great food! 13 burgers to choose from, amongst other things. Beers, wines, cocktails made fresh. Yummy!
A. G.
The "high-tech" ordering system is a nice gimmick but it has some serious drawbacks, the biggest of which is that only one person per table is capable of browsing the menu and ordering at a time. Food was average.
M. G.
We started a stag do here. Beer taps on every table and a tablet to order food and other beers if required. The toilets need a LOT of work. Overall it is okay.
L. C.
Enjoyable evening, and barman happy to discuss his knowledge of gin...... Very noisy with loads of TV's showing the football, I would personally normally avoid somewhere like it for that reason
K. H.
Nice atmosphere and decent prices, especially for so central
J. B.
Mostly bareable indie music, cute downstairs area. Great to be able to order by tablet. Nice beers on tap.
S.
Big portions of food. Had a redneck burger with sweet potato fries (chips?). It was really tasty and I would recommend it if you like good burgers!
J. P.
Great space, great drinks selection, nice food and can get digital cards to pour your own beers or order food or drink to you via a tablet on the tables
Z. I.
Tasty burger for a very good price. Maybe the staff should be more positive but overall very nice place for lunch or drink after work.
s. h.
Lovely atmosphere
Loved The staff
A. A.
Great pub - good beer, lively atmosphere, fantastic burgers. Probably best to book a table at peak times
S. B.
Nice pub, a few spaces outside. Friendly staff.
I. A.
Lovely place. A note for fans of Goose IPA: they have a few tables that have taps built into them! :-)
S. M.
Fun, innovative way to order. Gets busy from sport so book ahead! Open a tab to get the full experience and never leave your seat.
J. S.
I thought the iPad could be a pit gimmicky but it was actually ideal. The footy was easily viewable on a Thursday and I had a great experience.
T. H.
Some of the best pub food you can get. Would recommend the "build your own burger" option on the (iPad) menu
l. F.
I love the 3 Jäger shots for £10 , the pub food, noisy and lively especially during Thurs and Fri after work, cool waitresses and waiters absolutely fantastic service.
E. R.
Lovely bar staff, nice touch with the IPads on the tables that you can order from. Relaxed atmosphere.
K. S.
Very tasty food, friendly service and an excellent system for serving your own pints or ordering from your table.
D. W.
Unique pub with tablet-based table service. Some mammoth sized burgers and lots of big screens to watch sport.
J. C.
One of the beer taps was not working when we were sat at our table (because they had run out of one of the beers.
After a lot of persuasion I managed to convince them to hook up a different beer to the pump so we could still have lager!
It was hard to pour the pints properly without half a glass of head (I've had a good 6 years experience of working a bar in the last 13 years, so not a user issue).
IPad software crashed a few times so we lost what we were doing on it at the time.
Service was quite good (after the initial barrel issue). Even when there was a queue at the bar, we would put our order on the iPad, and our drinks would be first out (effectively jumping the queue).
I would recommend if you have never done it before for the different experience.
S. M.
Great way to watch a game of football, beer on tap on your individual table and an iPad to order additional spirits and food, definitely the way to go!!
l. k.
Popped in just to watch football quickly before going on to a show, grabbed a snack, extremely friendly pub both staff and patrons food was delicious
T. G.
Decent bar, would prefer a bigger selection of beer, but otherwise all good
M. B.
Nice atmosphere and cool staff..
P. T.
Set on Stamford street in Southwark the Thirsty Bear is ideally located for having a refreshing beer a little bit away from old father Thames, very popular at lunchtime with the office crowds it attracts a cool and relaxed set in the evenings.
R. R.
Good food, good beer, nice atmosphere, what more do you need from a pub?
B. P.
Walked in randomly. Clearly a real "local" Cambridge pub. Smallish - but very laid back. Very Cambridge Uni crowd. If you're not from the Uni . . . might feel out of place.
D. “. M.
Its pretty good. Pricing isn't too outrageous, and there's a pretty reasonable lunchtime deal. Very good fries.
A. D.
Good spicy chicken wings, and you pour your own beers, thought small beer selection. Worth a try
L. H.
Excellent food and wide range of beer
P. M.
Great burgers here
C. F.
Fantastic place to watch sports. You never have to leave your table! Just don't forget to collect your card from behind the bar when you leave...
A. S.
Unique idea with beer taps at table, no need to leave your seat. Advise booking a table to avoid disappointment.
N. H.

Excellent burgers and you can pour your own pints. Good selection of lagers.
O. E.
Very nice pub with a good crowd and friendly service. Conveniently close to London Waterloo and the IMAX.
S. K.
This is how all pubs should be - one of my biggest pet hates is waiting at the bar and not getting a seat. In the thirsty bear neither of these are a consideration as there is plenty of seating all with beer taps right by your seat. Just …
L. Q.
Very modern. Good music. Good atmosphere
C. C.
Definitely an experience - a must visit! Such fun
Z. R.
Gets quite busy, but if you book ahead a table with a tablet it can be brilliant.

G. C.
Awesome stuff. Good food and good price. Staff are great. Thanks.
O. E.
Very nice pub in a great location near Waterloo. Shows the sports.
D. C.
It's OK. Personally I avoid it due to the in-your-face installations of touch screen ordering points on all the upstairs tables.
J. W.
Appreciate the iPad ordering, but does little to showcase this quite average pub.
F. H.
Amazing Sports pub with a lot of choice of craft beer and food
