Reviews of The Thomas Cubitt Pub Belgravia
D. T.
An interesting Georgian era pub and dining room named after a local builder! The pub was fine after getting over the threatening welcome signs outside "Private news, no standing or mobile phone use". A good beer or two and friendly attentive staff. A couple of cask ales on offer along with a range of keg lager, cider and Guinness. An enjoyable drink.

A quaint pub on the vibrant Elizabeth Street of Belgravia. The food is great - It is difficult to go wrong with any of the dishes. The outdoor seating has a great ambience. You will often find it full towards the end of the week and the weekend, so I would recommend making a booking.

Delicious food and drinks. The service was relatively fast.
My favourite dish was the Pan-fried Halibut in the rich shellfish sauce. Not only was it presented beautifully, but the taste and texture also matched my expectations. The hispi cabbage and the rich broth-like sauce complemented well with the halibut which was cooked to a perfect tenderness.
The 12-hr Braised Beef tasted good, though it was slightly overcooked, making the meat a little drier/chewier to my liking. It's rather like a Sunday roast too!
The traditional Beer Battered Fish and Chips in the pub did not let me down. This piece of cod was meaty and succulent with a nice crispy batter crust. Oh, and the lovely chunky chips - fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
I guess the most mediocre dish was the Mussels, Cockles and Clams. First of all, the shellfish were not cleaned properly, there were still traces of sand and beard in the mussels. Not great. The taste was fairly decent though the shellfish lacks flavour on its own (without the sauce). The upside is that it was served with chips so we didn't have to order an extra side. Their chips were great!
Overall, we were glad that we got a table relatively quickly considering we didn't make a reservation. The service was friendly and quick, but the only hiccup was that the waiter got our bill mixed up with another table. A much bigger table that's not even close to us...and when I pointed out his mistake, he was a little defensive at first, saying 'No, it's not wrong'. However, he quickly apologised when he realised he was actually wrong. Because of this and the average shellfish dish, I had to knock a star off.

Lovely, elegant pub with great staff. We celebrated our wedding in over of the private rooms and truly loved the experience. The meat quality and wine selection are impressive.

Booking was very easy.
On arrival we were greeted and taken to our table. The entire team of TC were welcoming and respectful of social distancing. The food was fabulous, good quality and tasted delicious.
An overall delightful visit which will definitely be repeated.

After hearing that this place does one of the best roasts in the city, friends and I thought we would try it for ourselves. We booked for Sunday roast and it delivered above our expectations. The portions were generous and was delicious with some of the best gravy I have ever had in a restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive and all of the staff seemed happy to be there, a rarity these days.
We are already considering our next visit.

Ah, where to start... we had our wedding lunch at The Thomas Cubitt in the dining room and it was perfect. From the moment I started working with Rachel and Nancy, I felt so looked after and when we arrived, everything was laid out perfectly. The food and wine were exceptional and the service was truly outstanding. We were made to feel as though we were their only guests and the kindness, attention to detail and genuine happiness for us made the day so very special for us and our family. There is literally nothing bad I can say about this venue or the wonderful people who work there. A perfect event venue and one we will be visiting again and again.

Second visit to this place, think its safe to describe it as an upmarket gastropub which i believe is a good description of this friendly place.
Dog friendly, outside seating is great and the burger was moist and delicious, brioche bun was lush, partner has fish and chips which was lovely and fresh.
Expresso martinis and margarita cocktails made this a visit to remember, cost £93 and think this is good value
Z. D. I.
Beautiful spot with friends my staff. The lamb saddle I had was perfection. A little warm inside, but lots of outdoor seating available.
T. G.
Disappointing. Very expensive even by the standards of the neighborhood for indifferent food. The vegetarian offering (OK, its really a steakhouse but many parties contain at least one veggie) especially pathetic. On a weekday lunchtime with only 4 or 5 tables full the staff were disinterested and snooty. Too busy chatting amongst themselves to pay much attention. Moving them up from 2 stars to 3 because they do have very nice bathrooms.
E. F. L. D. C. A.
Not your average pub. Considering it is clearly a high end pub, the prices for drinks are not too bad considering you’re in the middle of Belgravia. The food is also incredibly good and fairly priced. I’ve always found the staff to be personable, friendly and attentive. The bar staff is also very attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks on offer. Highly recommended.
J. G.
We were so well looked after from the minute we arrived. I have never met such a nice team of people! Everyone was so friendly and efficient. Would recommend the private dining room for any events and The Thomas Cubitt team will knock it out of the park for you!
O. O.
Had monkfish with salsify and artichokes and other stuff was amazing.
R. A.
What an amazing place! The food is exquisite, the atmosphere jovial and the staff are the nicest people I have ever come across. I had forgotten to ask for a table outside but the lovely manager went out of her way, nonetheless, to get me one. The Romanian waitress was especially helpful and attentive, explaining everything to us, making recommendations and she took the time to take our pictures, even though it was only her third day on the job. Out of all the neighbourhood gems, Thomas Cubitt is definitely a super gem.
m. s.
Great food. Lamb very good, but choose some sides, not the biggest portions.
Try their apple pie. You won't be disappointed.
P. D.
The public house, a combination of restaurant and pub is located just 5 minutes walk from Victoria Station. We arrived at 7pm and it was very busy. They have also some tables outside on Elisabeth Street. The menu is limited and offers mainly traditional dishes. Prices are a little bit above average, but quality of the food is very good. Also nicely presented. Friendly and efficient service. Tap or sparkling tap water will be offered complimentary.
P. C.
My 50th birthday party in one of the private rooms - gorgeous and atmospheric - perfect for 9 of us in the party. The food, cocktails, wine were superb, everyone absolutely loved the day from start to finish, Our assigned member of staff was amazing, so calm and helpful. Hiba who helped us in the lead up to the event was also wonderful. A birthday lunch to remember. We will be returning! Thank you to all the team at Thomas Cubitt for making my day just perfect!
J. B.
Fantastic service, classic pub vibes, and an elevated classic pub menu. We will definitely return for a pint and some snacks.
We had the burger with truffle & parmesan fries. The tomato chutney really pulls the whole burger together.
The pie of the day was the Cubitt's take on shepherd's pie, and they did not disappoint. Perfect for a cloudy 15 °C day.
We only had half pints of Guinness with our lunch, but the bar has a wide variety of whiskeys and liquors, and they offer coffee as well.
A. W.
Lovely location to sit and watch the world go by on a quiet road surprisingly close but a world away from Victoria Coach Station. The service is quick and the staff are very friendly. I had the champagne cocktail and the partner had an Aviation. Fascinating to listen to the nonsense posh conversations from the neighbouring tables about money and sometimes money and other times...money. We didn't try the food but it looks great.
A. P. S.
Always busy with excellent food and service in the pub area. Can be a little nousy but not intolerable. Table service in the pub is a plus although as it is so busy the staff are very pushed. Tables are best reserved if you are planning to eat.
E. F.
Excellent. Nice pub, more upmarket environment matched by great food and very attentive service.
Highly recommend
M. T.
It's a hidden gem! It's one of the places where I love to go again and again. The atmosphere is really nice, the wine selection is great and the cheese board is delicious.
The staff is always helpful and friendly.
The location is very good as it is near Victoria station but without being very bustling.
A great spot for Friday evening!
R. G.
Overall a very average experience. No chicken left, so we had the pork which was tough, and one of us had the roast pumpkin which was very dry. Also service was fairly blasé and very slow. Not what we had expected sadly.
E. “. M.
Fantastic Sunday Roast in a typical British atmosphere. Sunday roast of different types: beef, Turkey, pork, lamb and venison all served with each particular sides and sauces. delicious. to complete the lunch long list of draft beer and cask beer. desert can conplete your experience. very nice to be repeated soon.
J. A.
Great food and excellent service.
Went here with a group of 6.
Great menu options and a large variety of wines.
Really good value for money considering the high quality, delicious food.
L. C.
Five years ago the TC was one of the best gastropubs in London, serving the best double cooked chips and Sunday roasts. However many staff changes ended up having a negative impact on the quality of the food served at the pub and customer service. This was the first visit to the TC since 2019 when I had one of the worst experiences in a gastropub. Although there have been some improvements, I am afraid TC is still a shadow of its former glorious self.
S. G.
Food was delicious, varied menu and great wine selection. Service was top, I have a dairy allergy and it was no bother for them being flexible with alternatives. Would highly recommend and definately visiting again
K. R.
Had a good meal in one of their dining rooms on the top floor of the pub. Had a set menu, but food was well presented and cooked well.
M. M. D. C.
A classy pub in Belgravia with great food too. Its very crowded often and booking is difficult so don't expect to be easy to find a table. Staff could also be more friendly
D. J.
Vibrant friendly restaurant with outstanding food. Every dish coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. The mutton pie was special, the artichoke salad looked amazing and the fish and chips were top.
A. P.
Never thought that I would have a hot Gin! Sipsmiths Hot G n T is a must have! Dining room upstairs a bit upscale! A nice and more chill atmosphere at the groundfloor! Very kind staff! definitely worth a visit if you are around!
T. H.
Staff and atmosphere were very good. But I had a couple of issues. First the table given to our large party was to small for us all to eat comfortably round it. Second whilst the Roasted Loin of Lamb had a very nice flavour the portion size was very very small and it was a bit cold by the time it got to the table. For a pub that charges a premium price these problems shouldn’t happen.
R. B. M.
Beautiful, rich bar with extraordinary staff. We commend our wedding in over of the private rooms abd genuinely adored the experience.
S. M.
Great place nice staff and great food. Bartenders put a lot of effort into their drinks and it shows and tastes. I have been back several times and it has never dissapointed. I am a burger geek and I really really enjoyed these burgers!
P. W.
Very busy little pub. Great atmosphere. Very friendly staff and the Guiness was pretty good.
A. B.
Went for a company meal. The food was excellent and the staff were courteous and polite the whole time both upstairs whilst we were eating and in the bar downstairs.
R. C.
Beautiful place. Our waitress was lovely. This pub is from my husbands family.
J. T.
The food was wonderful as always! Service was friendly, they did start to run out of things as it was a busy night... but that just means book an earlier time in the day to avoid disappointment!
p. w.
Just stopped for a glass of bubbles ... service was prompt. Wonderful selection of bubbles, wines, beverages by the glass.
Can’t comment on food.
Indoor and outdoor seating. Nice that they offer blankets of outside seats.
Fun place to relax and watch the people on Elizabeth St, a nice quiet street with interesting shops like Jo Loves, Philip Treacy Hats, Poiliane, etc.
D. B.
Excellent service during a very busy time for the staff. Great food great drinks very busy environment.
N. J.
Very nice venue, local buzz to the place with customers enjoying themselves, good food etc. Only downside was some staff obeyed face mask wearing like they should, some staff defied the rule of science and wore the face masks under their nose and/or chin which isn’t going to help anyone let alone themselves. Young people…you too can catch Covid-19 and all of the variants because viruses are excellent at mutating and viruses don’t care who you are or how young or old you are.
H. S.
Lovely staff, ambience, good food and cocktails, love how dog friendly they are!
A. D.
Food is great and it’s on a super cute street but service is abysmal. Then again service is abysmal everywhere in London so maybe they’re just maintaining status quo?
N. N.
We had a lovely time, we went with our dog. Nice place with lovely food. I recommended
B. M.
I really love this pub, the only thing is the noise and the acoustic in the pub area. Maybe in the dinning room is quiet. But the rest, wonderful as always
R. J.
Nice atmosphere and good service but very expensive for the food received
t. l.
We enjoyed it very much. The staff were first rate and the food delicious.
S. H.
Great staff , very friendly and nothing too much trouble . Good food . Very enjoyable afternoon
J. Y.
Very nice place, decent food, but terrible service. The woman who served us did not bring plates when she brought our appetizers, she brought two salt shakers instead of salt and pepper, she did not bring steak knives for a huge piece of stake, and she continuously forgot to bring things we had kindly asked for many times.
G. B.
Best fish pie my mum has ever had in her life which, she adds has ‘been a very long time’. Also the paper choice for the menus is totally on fleek #800gsm
A. T.
Superb food, a bit loud and busy, but in such a nice area and walking distance from Victoria Station
M. B.
Beautiful setting and lovely atmosphere. While the food was good overall, I don't think some of the dishes presented good value for money, such as the scallop dish. In addition, my fries turned up half submerged in a pool of liquid/water, which while replaced, is not something I expect at McDonald’s let alone pricey gastropub. Also it took ages to be served and for our food to arrive.
C. F.
Lovely gastropub! Very pretty building in a beautiful street.
g. b.
Had lunch here for two on a Thursday. TL;DR: great setting, great food mediocre service. We booked and were sat down and then 2 mins later another server came round to check whether we booked/walked in/what the name was. Duplication numero uno. We were also later asked by two different servers whether we wanted dessert (response was no both times). Duplication numero duo. We ordered a burger and I have to think ketchup on the side is non negotiable in this day and age; however no sauces appeared and I spent 5 mins trying to wave down a server without success. Given we are in Belgravia of course a 12.5% service charge was added which I think was not fully earned by the staff here. Some areas to improve but generally outside of this we had a lovely meal. I have been coming here since 2001 so know the spot relatively well and this lower quality service was somewhat of a surprise.
J. P.
Nice atmosphere and good food. They have a pub at ground level, restaurant on the first floor and a lovely private room.
T. H.
Such a lovely pub with amazing selection of drinks 🍸
I. R.
Really nice atmosphere and good food on a rainy, summer evening. Cheerful, helpful staff. Georgia the manager made us feel really welcome.
E. P.
Fun atmosphere and solidly good food. Fish and chips and burger were excellent - the sausage/mashed potato was not totally my thing but not bad. Service was attentive, and had a lovely rose to drink. I liked eating downstairs at the pub. The upstairs, where you can make reservations, is quieter and more formal.
J. a. s.
Nice atmosphere. A bit pricey but it's Belgravia.
B. L.
I have been here numerous times. Being in Belgravia the atmosphere can be a little stiff but having said that it's a casual place to grab a pint and a bite. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Interior is well put together and the space is a pleasant place to be. People watching can be rather amusing. I have only eaten here once where I ordered the burger. Was disappointed unfortunately especially considering the price point. Have had far better for a lot cheaper. Perhaps an off night. The other dishes did look good though and it is always busy. Would recommend if you're in the area.
B. K.
Called in for Sunday lunch which was superb as usual. Great friendly service, good outside seating. There is nothing not to love!
j. k.
Food was amazing
s. s.
Friendly staff, nice food, good location, bit pricey though
D. D.
Most definitely the best lunch dinner cocktails !!! Lauren and her team are the best ! Always the best service and exceptional food Myself and residents of Belgravia Just 💯 percent xxxDavid Drew x
A. M.
Excellent friendly service - very well looked after for a delicious lunch and drinks sitting on the terrace on a lovely summer afternoon. Perfect!
S. H.
Nice place to bring your old man for Fathers Day.....his daughters thought! So I went along with them and enjoyed....food looked and tasted delicious, service brilliant 😍
E. L.
Bustling, decent range of beers. Staff could be more welcoming
A. B.
Good atmosphere, great food. The roasted pumpkin is really rich and filling. Also the sides are decent portions. A bit noisy, but went on a Thursday evening, that probably explains it. Ok prices
M. W.
Fantastic evening meal. We had the burger & fish pie and Stephan was awesome.
S.
Best place for food and drink in Belgravia. Highly recommended.
D. s. 3.
Beautiful pub but just don't eat there unless you like a Cold roast dinner an meat was fatty and cost the earth! Shame really
E. C. S.
Light, open space with warm, welcoming staff and a lively evening crowd. Food, drinks and service are outstanding.
S. H.
Visited on a weeknight for dinner with 5 friends. Main course was delicious and service friendly. My only criticism is that, on asking for a little extra ice cream for the apple pie I ordered, I was told it would be charged as an extra scoop for £2, which just seemed a little unnecessary on a £240 bill.
D. S.
Great food. Friendly staff.
N. P.
Superb Food. There are two areas. A more relaxed downstairs area and then the formal dining where we were. I had the mackerel to start and the Venison to follow. Both were exquisite and beautifully presented. Staff were attentive as glass was never empty! Not so good for the head next day though. Would definitely recommend a visit there.
G. A. S.
Absolute wonder of a place whilst visiting London. We brought the dog along for a drink and ended up staying longer than we thought we would. The manager was an absolute pleasure during our visit. Will definitely be back again without a doubt!
N. A.
This was a new find, and I really loved it. They have decent beers and a good quality selection of Italian wines, which tasted great.
We had a portion of chunky chips, which were some of the best I've had in the last 5 years, if you can believe it. And they were REALLY chunky - about 20mm per side.
I stayed outside so can't say anything about the interior.
V. K.
My husband and I discovered this place 13 years ago. We have been coming here very regularly on Saturdays as our weekly treat. We have seen managers and staff come and go over the years but apart from some blips here and there the food and service have been consistently good. There was always a friendly face to welcome us as regulars. Over the last few months though, this has changed and we have come less often especially since Sarah has been moved to another part of the ‘family’ of gastro pubs. The food is still good but the portions have shrunk and the service is less attentive. We won’t give up just yet but we are not as enthusiastic as we used to. Having said that, we had a nice experience a few weeks ago upstairs in the formal restaurant, where we were given a table just before what was going to be a busy Saturday Night. We didn’t have a reservation and downstairs was busy. The manager recognised us and she offered us a table for a limited time which worked for us. She and her staff looked after us brilliantly, it was quite a bit more expensive but we enjoyed the experience. Please keep this place going as we have been accustomed to. It would be a shame for us to have to look for another place.
G. P.
Wonderful atmosphere with attentive service and imaginative food.
R. M.
Perfect spot for a casual lunch in a sunny day.
Fish pie however was dry with not much flavour - frozen?
S. T.
Been there twice for meals and drinks in the last year and find it just OK. We had the Bistro downstairs menu, and found the quality against price average. I had their cod n chips and recall a crab salad my partner had last summer. While adequate, found the cod fillets small and served a little too gourmet styled for me. The crab salad looked rushed and thrown together and had to much dressing. If it all had more taste, it would be there and worth another star. Service was good, staff very helpful getting you a table, every when bustling on a summer Friday night.
Beers ok and an average choice overall. Nice location and decor but for the price, there is better in the area.
C. P.
Lovely building and atmosphere, food came promptly and was well cooked. Wine and beer list were comprehensive, though a few things were unavailable during the visit. Prices were a touch higher than similar places, but it is in a very nice area of London. Great for a family lunch and very close to Victoria without feeling busy
J. O.
The perfect gastro pub in the heart of London.
this place has a very welcoming and warm feel the staff were amazing and very knowledgeable and the wine list was fantastic. There were couples and large groups I like the atmosphere is very bustling and lively and has a good class of clientele. Perfect Friday night drinks before dinner on date night.
J. C.
Buzy atmosphere with seating outside and in. Wine on the expensive side especially when service charge is added.
V.
Really nice light set of dining rooms. Good service. The pre ordered chicken roast wasn't particularly great, so I'll say it's not fantastic value for money. The lamb roast was much better.
R. s.
Superb one.
We were a group of 15 friends and acquaintances who picked this a meeting point. All was ready for us and we had an excellent roundtable which made chatting easy. We have talked a lot and hotel prices good accomodate the things.
Between us we had 20 different dishes. all of which were very well received. Personally I had the all varieties which was really good. The service was excellent - just hit the right balance of being available and not being overbearing. This was a very nice lunch event through meal, venue, and of course, company.
I can suggest you to see this once, best place to get together.
Thank you thomas cubitt
A. B.
This is a wonderful gastropub tucked away in the heart of Belgravia with an impressive selection of food and drink to cater for every imaginable taste. Staff incredibly friendly and attentive. Very busy on Thursday evenings and weekends, still plenty of people midweek! They do the simple things well: great fish and chips, burgers etc; in the restaurant portion one can also opt for somewhat more gourmet fare! Both restaurant and bar food highly recommended; combined with the area...this is one of the best pubs in London!
N. K.
Had dinner on the first floor. The presentation of the food was nice, I liked the English peas starter and Hake fillet for the mains. Good service! Will revisit my review after having food on the ground floor.
G. M.
Maybe it was just too hot but the outdoor seating was excruciating - wooden slatted chairs that were definitely not designed with comfort in mind!
K. C.
Expensive but classy place. Friendly service and tasty food options.
O. H.
We had dinner at 7 p.m and the pub downstairs was packed, but once you go upstairs to the restaurant the atmosphere is very calm and classy. The service was impeccable and they were always ready to serve us and to answer our questions. I ate the beef serloin rare cooked and the cuisson was perfect. It was served with mashed potatoes and cabbage. The whole table more than enjoyed their meal. For some of us the quantity wasn't enough, but the quality was very good! I would certainly recommend it when you're in the area of Belgravia!
W. R.
The food here really is amazing, not just for a pub, but for any establishment in general. The wine selection was also insanely good. Pricey, but damn good. Can't wait to come back again.
S. H.
Good food but somewhat patchy service. This place gets busy at the weekends and is more gastro than pub, but the British food is commendable, the house ales ambitious and they'll always try to fit you in.
Some of our food was tepid on arrival and the waiter muddled up our order, so they really need to focus on service to drag their score any higher. Even so, there's little competition around these streets and it's undeniably lively and popular.
G. R.
Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Took orders at just the right time. Waiting time was just right too. Lastly, the food, including desert, well; 5 out 5. Serving size was perfect. Everything tasted divine. Looking forward to visiting again.
K. N.
Had dinner here with my partner last Friday. We had to move to allow a door to be shut for a private group. The wine waiter was very friendly and matched wines to our dinner to make up for the intrusion. They treated us really well and more than made up for it. Good food but the staff here make the difference. Would go again.
J. H. (.
Spent a lovely summer evening with this pub's airy open frontage. Nice Picpoul and excellent nuts (smoked almonds). Atmosphere a bit "wanna be seen" but I'm sensitive to that. Nice original tiles in ladies apparently and sweet staff.
F. N.
The food was amazing. It came as a small portion but it was just perfect!
Our waiter was very smiley and made the experience even better
M. R.
Nice atmosphere. The restaurant has 2 different areas: bar + drop-in restaurant on the ground floor and a fancier restaurant upstairs. We booked a table at the upstairs restaurant. Good service. Nice food, though quite expensive for what it was. Very disappointed with the dessert, as it was not at all what I expected (and what it was supposed to be).
A. M.
Amazing high-class restaurant. You can't just get there dressed all casually. I like all the authentic decorations and art-like meals. However, the prices can seem a bit high for the amount of food you get. The service is quite strict and polite, just right for the restaurant's unique appeal.
C. H.
Really nice food and location. Really enjoyed it!
E. O.
Hostess and bar staff were great. Food was high quality with the beef tartar being exceptional. Table service could have been a bit better but all around a great experience, well worth a visit.
J. M.
I recently celebrated my birthday here and rented out the drawing room. The decor was wonderful and the service was excellant. They took very good care of us. The minimum spend was a little steep, but the food was good and we enjoyed ourselves for the four hours that we had the space.
c. r.
Really smart pub but don't come here if you'd like to stand at the bar. Tables are packed in up until the bar area so if you don't manage to get a table you will be awkwardly hovering, or alternatively sitting outside on the road. There are two standing tables right next to the bar and even standing at these you feel like you're getting in the way of the punters. Guess next time I should reserve a table.
G.
Top place in the neighborhood, good food, and good selection of gins, especially Brixton gin.
A. L.
Excellent food at much inflated prices. I live in Chelsea so used to expensive restaurants but there is such a thing as value for money. This wasn't it. Really wanted to like it.
R. G.
Upleveled pub in a cosy neighbourhood. A recommended choice if you want a more refined atmosphere, nice decor, curated food and tasty desserts. When I'm around Victoria, this is one of my preferred choices.
S. H.
Great food, great staff, great atmos!
W. T.
We ate in the restaurant upstairs during our visit to London in June 2014.
One of the best meals we had. Very good food and service.
We will certainly make reservations again during our next visit. We might also try the bar downstairs since it is always busy - a great sign in the restaurant industry.
沈.
I came here with a mate for dinner. Attention to detail here is good but falls short on the portion size. Ok value for what you get but could probably find a better gastropub than here. The bar and drinks is pretty decent
T. V.
Georgia was great made my mum and I feel very welcome. Ribeye was cooked brilliantly and good quality meat. Definitely enjoyed the no phone vibe!
J. W.
Lovely place. Not so good at topping up to "a pint" when requested!
L. C.
Their food is pretty mediocre considering the price. The ambience is really nice on a sunny day- so stop by for a drink if you're in the area looking for one. However, for food, expect a mediocre pub lunch.
Z. K.
Me and my husband decided to sit here as i was hungry and he wanted to have some drinks. I ordered a steak, but i have to warn you, ordering is a painful process. When i finally managed to have an eye contract with the waitress she told me that someone will come and take my order, which never happened. After a while, she came and took my order. The steak, was great. However, when i asked for some mustard from the headwaiter/manager looking guy, he mockingly told my husband if he wants something or he will just watch me eat. Why would you make people hate that they chose your place to dine/drink? Manners, that's all it takes.
D. L.
I went for drinks on a Friday night. Managed to bag a window seat which was a great spot for people watching. The bold and the beautiful bring their in laws here so that all can feel young and like they're going to a real London pub. They're not.
What they get is friendly and reasonably efficient service, a completely standard gastropub menu but cooked well. The drinks list is a bit of a giveaway: just two ales on tap but about 10 different vodkas available.
I'd go back for a drink in the summer as long as I was as sufficiently disinterested in my companions' conversation: the acoustics are dreadful!
H. P.
Lovely venue, great service and good wine...options on the main menu were somewhat limiting for me but catered for otherd
R. S.
My table was in the upper floor. Great food and a very interesting menu choice. The wine on the glass was a good quality too. The atmosphere is ok, but I prefer a bit more light.
R. C.
Fine quality lunch and goats cheese cheesecake, my first, was excellent.
J. B.
Close to.Victoria Station, London.SE1. Pub food tasty but pricy. Very busy despite less tourists & office workers
F. H.
I particularly like the atmosphere of the front room at the Cubitt. Large windows looking onto a cute street - bright and friendly. There are a few tables at the front where you can sit outside on a nice day. The food is more upmarket than some pubs and quite good - the chips are especially tasty. There is also a more formal dining room upstairs which is good for a quieter business lunch.
J. H.
Great place, wonderful staff and service! Great wine list
J. K.
Great food. Very fresh "fresh mint tea"
T. O.
Visited The Thomas Cubitt with a bunch of colleagues. We had reserved one the dining rooms upstairs. It felt like walking up the stairs in someone's townhouse.
The food definitely lived up to expectations as it was well cooked and balanced.
The service lived up to expectations as well. We had reserved a table and had dedicated waiters.
My visit to The Thomas Cubitt was all in all a pleasant surprise and I'd love to go back.
W. G.
I went there with a friend for dinner around 8:30pm on a Friday. It was busy, but we were able to get seated right away without a reservation by the pleasant hostess. The food, service, and drinks were all good. I liked the experience overall and would go there again.
J. G.
Brilliant place to eat! The service was superb and prompt, they gave a great reccomendation for the courses and a fantastic suggestion for the wine. Would definitely eat here again as the food was beautifully balanced and presented.
J. K.
Delicious but a bit pricey. Service excellent and good precautions in place for safety during pandemic. Popular and busy on a Tuesday night at the end of summer
R. P.
Love it here. Especially when the sun is out. Limited space outside so do ask for to be seated. Random table hopping when busy is not allowed. Strict queuing rules and prepare to be seated in the waiting area.Food is good. Guiness could be colder but then again I frequent this place often and would recommend to newbies who who don't venture out of Sloane square or don't know how close this place is from Victoria station.
D. D.
The service was really good and the food was tasty
a.
Good food, very nice internal deco. very pleasant neighborhood. A little pricey but that's dictated by the selection of the area too. Good service
G. M.
Nice gastropub food downstairs, with more of a fine-dining menu and feel upstairs, though still fairly casual. The bar can get very busy, even on weeknights - testament to the fact that there's not really very much else around, despite it being an affluent area with lots of offices nearby.
M. L.
White wine served at room temperature in the upstairs restaurant. Being badgered a little to take our food order were the downsides. Upsides were good food, lovely surroundings and good location.
J. L.
I visited here on a Thursday evening and knew it would be busy. The staff were really helpful and there was both standing room and a table to sit at for a drink. If you’re considering eating here just be weary that it will be noisy so choose your day and time I’d say.
T. M.
Great place for lunch or a drink after work. Best to book in advance if you want a seat. It is very popular so often standing only - which is fine in summer when they open up out front.
C. C.
Good food, good beer and excellent service.
D. C.
I really liked the building and the whole atmosphere of the bar. I went there on a Thursday night, it was very crowded, and I guess it was the reason for the slow service (for the main dish only). Staff was nice and polite. And the food was good :)
R. F.
One of the best gastropubs in Victoria. Great pies and good cocktails. It is a bit annoying not being able to reserve a table as they seem to be full all the time but worth going for anyway.
k. h.
Delicious Sunday roast and good service. I'd recommend it
L. D.
Lovely lunch and great service
E. B.
Great service, fantastic food,we were a large group and they adapted to a noisy and particular crowd wonderfully! 100% recommend.
S. V.
Expensive experience. Very good service. Very polite staff and extremely professional. My expectation was for better food. The cost per person was at the range of a michellin star venue but the quality was not.
Z. P.
Selection of wine was great. Atmosphere was really nice,Food is also delicious. Dining rooms was cozy. Service was great. The staff is always helpful and friendly.
S. H.
Private dining room was really nice and the food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the pork main course. Cocktails are good too. Would thoroughly recommend.
A. E.
A modern pub that manges to keep some character. The food's above average, but the the prices are too. The big downside is that it's always packed with noisy, expensively dressed, locals. The dining room upstairs is more formal than you'd expect, but at least you can have a conversation there.
M. H.
Fine semi-upscale pub. I had the gin and tonic followed by the apple dessert with white wine pairing. I recommend all of them. They were each quite sweet. The heater outside was broken though :(
J.
Great pub. Not cheap but given location expected.
K. L.
This is my go-to place if I am around Victoria Coach Station as there aren't many nice places for food nearby. It's tucked around a curve so when you look down the road from the station, you can't see it.
It's not cheap but for the atmosphere and quality, completely reasonable. You are not far from Sloane St and Phillip Treacy is across the street afterall!
Cocktails run about £8 or £9 while my gin and tonic was £5. Mains are about £14-£22. The quality of food is high, as was the service the several times. The vegetarian option seems pricey but was tasty according to my friend. Sides are also extra although you get a bit of veg with your mains.
It's rather cosy on a cold night with it's windows on tje ground floor. Definitely worth checking out!
E. R.
We had booked in advance for a corporate lunch. The food was excellent gastropub food. The lunchtime service on a weekday was disappointingly slow and sloppy. The staff did not cope and not attentive to our needs. We got offered a discount at the end for the poor experience.
.
E. W.
We went for our work night out at the Thomas Cubbitt last night and it was delicious! Definitely recommend. Amazing food, well priced and great service. Particular compliments to DOUG who was super helpful and friendly. We will be returning!! The Dexters team xxx
M. D.
Fab food, great staff. Love this place it has such a great vibe. Decorated in a cool retro yet contemporary way. Mid range prices.
C. G.
Great service on both floors. Downstairs main bar is lively and fun. The upstairs dinning room was cozy and the service and food were excellent
M. S.
I loved having lunch here. It’s a light filled pub in a stunning location with delicious food. Don’t miss out on the venison pie if it’s on their specials. Yummy!
Z. R.
Great for food, came here for there set menu, which was excellent value. Drinks are expensive but great quality.
L. V.
Very good food. Had bone marrow mash for the first time and loved every bite. Great wine. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
M. W.
Had great table service in the bar area, all staff very attentive. Had an early dinner and a good selection on the menu and reasonably priced.
a. v. d. e.
Lovely gastropub in an area with not much choice. Nice place to have a bunch of shared starters and a glass of wine. Try the smoked salmon starter and the scotch egg looked pretty epic.
L. G.
I've visited this pub for casual work lunches and never been disappointed by the food, which in the bar at least is modern British and hearty (haven't tried the restaurant upstairs yet). Nice in summer when you can sit outside or at one of the tables next to the open French doors.
B. M.
Great service & atmosphere and fine food!
M. K.
If you're alright with the (reasonable for a nice London restaurant) prices then you'll love the food. Staff were great and atmosphere was perfect
A. A.
Nice place, atmosphere and good food. It's usually packed on Friday and weekends. If you get a chance to get a table, the service and food are quite good.
L. K.
1. situated between Eaton square and victoria this place attracts a mixed local crowd - half half shaved head Essex boy types and half people sporting balenciaga bags and wearing cartier bracelets like accessorize hippy bangles
2. The food is tasty reasonably priced (circa £10) and good quality
3. The cocktails menu is interesting and standarly priced (circa £10)
4. Beer is standard
5. Dogs are welcome and there are doggy biscuits. #winning
6. The staff are pleasant
7. It is busy but not overcrowded
8. It is run by the company that run the Orange pub (Belgravia)
9. Historical trivia wise Thomas Cubitt was the victorian architect OF Eaton Square
10. I vote it is worth a look - if you are going to go eat I would budget about 30 per person. :) :)
T. M.
Top floor private dining experience. Took a while to be offered drinks by the staff here. The food and atmosphere were both very good however.
T. V.
Nice place to chill at weekends, a bit pricy though, especially the beef tartare, £12 as a starter is really poor..
I guess you are paying for the location as well 🤔
Apart of that, friendly and professional staff :)
K. S.
This place was lovely, with a great atmosphere. It was rather busy and cramped, but the staff was friendly and the restaurant in a lovely location. The only downside was the bar manager who in my opinion should not be customer facing. He was rude, obnoxious, and likes to belittle his customer. When my friend asked, after placing a large order, if a discount could be had he asked - where are you from - followed by – you might be able to do that in your country but we don’t do that here.
When we accidently spilt a drink and I asked if he might consider replacing it, I got the same attitude in that they are not running a charity and it’s not his problem. A simple I’m afraid I can’t do that would have been sufficient. It really was a shame as the rest of the staff tried very hard to be accommodating.
O. F.
Great food. Friendly staff
D. N.
Downstairs gets very busy, so if you're wanting a quiet meal it's worth booking a table upstairs where it's much more tranquil. Food and wine is great quality and the service is good.
s. m.
Very good premium gastropub, strong selection of drinks and menu, efficient and warm service . No x factor during our visit to justify five stars but very enjoyable and highly recommend given unreasonably priced for good quality fare, location and environment.
P.
Seemed to have a nice rustic/ye olde type charm to it. It gets pretty busy though but that's usually a good sign. I very much enjoyed their mint tea!
B. S.
Excellent food and a good vibe. Plenty of space, well decorated and extremely helpful staff. good for beers downstairs or a pub meal, and then a slightly more formal meal upstairs.
G. T.
Just love this place. Dog friendly and great location if you are shopping in Chelsea. The best food here ever if a little pricey but just love the whole vibe so actually don't mind paying the extra.
M. B.
Good food. Also this gastropub is dog friendly and happily accommodated my cousin's enormous but very well behaved German Shepherd!
M. G.
Full of the posh but don't hold that against it. Set in a pretty location, the pub is clean and the bar staff courteous. The food is good but pricey and the portion sizes are miserly.
R. U.
Great service, great food, great wine, vet nice atmosphere and a lovely decor in the restaurant. We really like both the bar area and the first floor dining room
Z. P.
"Potatoes, chipped or mashed". For some reason, this rather James Bond way of ordering chips or mashed potatoes on Thomas Cubitt's menu really amuses me. That observation aside, it's not really a veggie friendly place (meat, meat and more meat) so I stuck to cocktails. At nearly a tenner each, they were good but could have better.
D. H.
Nice airy bar and good bar menu. Particularly liked the home done scotch egg and then the burger. Good presentation a d very tasty.
R. K.
Excellent food, service surprisingly good and thoroughly earnest. Always crowded..
If you want the dining room be sure to reserve.
E. L.
Bit expensive, but nice food. Great busy atmosphere. Popular place for good looking youngish people. Most staff was great, but one wasn't very attentive and missed things.
J. W.
Great, lively gastropub with good food and friendly service.
M. E.
Always a good bet. Pub downstairs and slightly more expensive restaurant upstairs. Food in both is good. Question is if you want peace and quiet or not.
K. P. C.
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant with locally sourced foods. The nettle dumplings (gnocchi) with avocado and artichoke - divine. Buzzing with energy and a great neighborhood vibe.
A. B.
Great (noisy) pub downstairs, great restaurant upstairs. It was easy to spend more than we intended, with good wine too!
D. D.
really nice food in a nice, fairly spacious location with modern decor. it gets quite crowded at peak times so you may want to phone in a reservation.
E. T.
Nice atmosphere to have your Sunday Lunch . Really well-decorated place ! Friendly staff and very polite. The food was really delicious , I recommend to one to try it in decent prices. Really worth the visit to Thomas Cubbit !
J. G.
My 1st choice in Victoria, food's delicious and they have great space for drinks with friends 🍺🍻🍸🍷
A. D.
Really nice pub, great atmosphere and excellent food. Good choice of drinks as well, and pleasant staff
J. W.
This is truly a restaurant of the highest class. I suggest you to make a reservation because it is quite full in the dinner hours. In terms of food, the quality is on top level and I don't really have anything to complain about.
H. R.
Good food; portion sizes a little limited but prompt service; perhaps a little pricey £50/head and we only had 1 bottle of wine with 4 pints, no dessert
M. C.
Ate in the upstairs Dining Room. Really good food, hske with mussels & beetroot was amazing! Service friendly & attentive without being too much
A. T.
Pretty gastro pub. Great atmosphere and good food. Prices are fair and service is great. It just lacked a bit of soul/personality to be perfect.
A. M.
Usually unpleasantly busy and full of the Sloane crowd. It's OK if you like that sort of thing, but there are much better pubs for a pint elsewhere in Belgravia.
R. F.
Lovely chic dining gastro pub, slghtly noisier downstairs than in the restaurant upstairs, food and service was excellent for our party apart from The Heritage Carrots with chickpea salad, whilst a tasty vegetarian main course, the portion size was severely underwhelming, Nouvelle cuisine portions in a gastropub is plain silly, especially when it was the most expense vegetarian main course - two purple carrots cut in half is hardly a meal!
A. N.
Top floor dining. Wonderful ambiance, lovely food, great company but appalling toilets
D. C.
Great service which you would expect for this venue. Food is also good. Not a place for a cheap meal but very comfortable.
P. S.
Nice local gastropub witha proven formula (they own 4-5 others in London) - good wine list, interesting local/organic menu, and they make a very good Pimm's
D. d. C.
Somewhat disappointed...menu and wine list more traditional and thin than expected. A feeling of middle age, middle ambition...shame, kind staff.
J. H.
Nice atmosphere. Good eat out to help out deal. Really tasty food.
S.
An OK place, but it's quite full of itself and will immediately get pissy if you have a snack with you already.
A. T.
Fantastic atmosphere good food and great service, Sante (I hope I spelled he’s name correct) very professional and friendly.
S. D.
Crammed, busy place that doesn't seem to know if it's a bar or a restaurant - every table was taken up by people drinking, while some people eating had to stand up. We were allowed to stand outside, as long as we were within the rope barrier; a move that meant I was essentially drinking someone else's gin and tonic. Offish staff and a crowd of suits; not quite right for me, but fine for those who don't mind a place that full.
D. K.
lov the burgers. Cool setting. Gets pretty busy but not too bad. Awesome on a nice day if you can get the seats outside
K.
So far beat place to eat in London. Day 4 so that may change, but best squid and fish and chips. Selection of Rose wine is on point.
P. R.
True gastro pub....Fabulous food and brilliant selection of drinks. Great service and a great outside tables to people watch.
Highly recommended.
E. J.
Stumbled across this place and managed to nab an outdoor table. I had a fantastic Bellini and main course. It was quite pricey, but delicious all the same.
f. a.
Second time I had lunch here and I'm glad about it. Cozy place, nice food with attention to details and a bit of creativity for a very affordable price.
M. A.
Nice gastropub with tasty food. Not the cheapest, but prices weren't unreasonable. The service was slightly slow, but it was a positive experience overall.
A. S.
Still my absolute favourite pub in London! Fantastic fish & chips and excellent place to sit outside when the sun is shining and have a glass of rose!
G. S.
I visited for a work function so we had the private dining room. the food was to a very good standard and the service professional.
F. L.
Great location, decor and friendly service. Food is up to the notch but price is quite steep. Great for catching up at the restaurant upstairs as it's quiet.
E. C.
The Thomas Cubitt - Modern and traditional British pub grub in oak-floored country-house bar and elegant dining room.
M. H.
Pleasantly surprised with the incredible food. A must try. Wonderful service as well!
S. P.
Good food and nice service. I would have expected more game and out of the box dishes and bigger portions.
T. D.
Busy place - be prepared to drink in an overcrowded bar on the ground floor. Smart people know to book a table on the first floor restaurant.
D. M.
Good food in a great location. The service from our waiter was terrific. Will go back with my Lamp for lunch again.
m.
It was very nice, had great food and a good atmosphere. The only thing I could say is that it was very loud.
B. F.
Fantastic Gastropub! Great food - a good varied menu - and great service. Will definitely go back!
N. T.
Great food, decent casual decor, attentive staff
L. C.
Very well prepared pub food and a great atmosphere. More importantly, very friendly service.
V. M.
Nice location. Nice dining upstairs. Menu bit limited for my taste but food delicious.
A. L.
Great buzzy place where I've both enjoyed the pub and the restaurant upstairs. Good for people watching, as well as the post-shopping drink.
c. w.
Great food, not really a gastro pub....more of a restaurant with a bar with no space to stand🤷🏽♂️
A. T.
Good food and wine. Great service.
M. A.
Busy at lunchtime but the food was delicious. The menu varied and catered to most tastes, great for a business lunch.
S. C.
Nice, relaxed bar with a decent range of drinks. Food was quite good, if a little pricey.
T. H.
Had a great meal at the Thomas Cubitt on a Friday evening. Good food and excellent service
M. V.
Went for Sunday lunch at 2pm and a couple of meals were sold out but the food was very nice. We were sat upstairs, lovely decor and setting.
T. H.
Been there many times - cute street, nice on a sunny afternoon. Service and food alright, but not more for me I'm afraid
M. K.
Great menu, great lunch experience. Somehow waited very long for a dinner there, just slow service in a busy room.
J. T.
Amazing Sunday Roasts with fantastic atmosphere. Spent a rainy afternoon in there and left extremely satisfied.
R. K.
Best gastro pub in the area. Fantastic cocktails, great stuff and the food is seriously hard to beat round there.
A. P.
Cute atmosphere, but small portions for the price. It's in a really walkable location and the service was quick.
M. D.
Great place. Had a chicken roast which was excellent. Service was pleasant and attentive. Nice tables outside
F. L.
Great place, good food and friendly effective staff , outside seating in the sun .. the only down side is being smoked out with cigars , this shouldn't be allowed to spoil others enjoyment of the terrace
M. P.
Wonderful upscale pub with fun drinks, delicious food, and great service. Definitely get the beet salad as an app.
M. S.
Lovely place no vegan options
R. R.
Excellent service NYE. Comfort food did the trick.
Lost one star ... bit loud for me. Between punters and music.

Nice tasty simple food. Friendly staff.

F. G.
It is a great place for a burger or fish and chips. The restaurant is cosy and trendy. It is a bit expensive.

Very nice food and some good beers. Wooden floors mean that it can get very noisy when busy.

K. M.
Solid English drinks and food. Good pies, burgers etc downstairs. Crowded for a good reason, good staff.

Watering hole of our betters, but the soup is good and the beer is only marginally more expensive, so all in all, worth a stop.

Crowded but good. High quality food at reasonable prices.

Not as good as it used to be. A number of the old staff have left and the turnover of new staff seems to be quite high. Hopefully some new starters will come through and return the experience to what it once was.
