Reviews of The Thornhill Arms

We held a private party there the food was great never waited long for drinks and the stuff was excellent. Also the way the pub is arranged around the bar makes it a great venue to socialise with friends.

Went for a private birthday party.
Small venue, but clean, plenty on tap.
Well worth a visit

Had a wonderful roast today, great atmosphere, live music, lovely Sunday afternoon, thank you so much !

Really loved this place, great atmosphere, incredibly friendly and helpful staff. First time there and I'll definitely be going back.
K. H.
Didn’t want to go here but ended up here anyway, they’re friendly, good music, the outside look really drags you in, and inside is really not that bad, rather beautiful.

Nice pub. Friendly bar staff. Very welcoming

We had our wake at this pub. Bradley and his staff were so attentive and were really lovely - made a very sad day alot easier. Plenty of drink variety and great outside area. Thanks guys👍🏼

I have been to this pub on many occasions and have always found the staff friendly and the atmosphere welcoming.
Decided to visit with my boyfriend on a Sunday as they have just started doing a Sunday Roast. It was brilliant. There was a real family friend vibe about the place and everyone seemed happy, not to mention the food really hit the spot.
Can’t think of a better way to enjoy a lazy Sunday. Thanks Thronhill 👍

Old school pub with a hip interior. Cask ales on offer and lots of imports

Really friendly team. Great venue. Definitely one to visit again, thank you for your hospitality.

Incredible food and amazing location, especially after a long hike from one of the local trails

This is a long overdue review for a great north London pub, just off Regent’s Canal.
Good selection of well kept real ales and traditional, well prepared pub food. Always a friendly welcome when I’ve been there.
Used this as a base for a model street photoshoot a couple of years ago on a Sunday lunchtime - just for a break, a couple of drinks and to use the loo. Unfortunately the weather turned wet whilst we were in there but the bar staff kindly agreed to us changing makeup indoors and also a few shots! I’m a hobbyist photographer - no money exchanged - so greatly appreciated! The final image (attached) received high acclaim!!!
Highly recommended pub!!!

Went there on Thursday 3 June after funeral for my father in law.Lovely People and staff couldn't have wished for betterGreat service and a great venue! Thank you so much.

Busy North London pub behind Kings Cross so its more for locals. Or workers. Good range of beer and lager. Beavertown Neck Oil on tap always a good sign. London prices so over a fiver for a pint. They do bowls of fries which are delicious with a pint. It's a rectangle shaped bar so not alot of space for seating. So reserve a table if you want a seat.
M. C.
Nice pizza and burgers with good drinks selection too. Outside seating great in the summer
J. C.
A really nice little modern pub. I don't think it even has a website, and it's away from the hussle and bussle nearer the bottom of Cally Road.
Having said that it hasn't kept people away, it's usually pretty busy on Friday evenings, but a bit quieter on Saturdays. There are some nice outdoor seats so nice for a summer catch up with friends or maybe even a date?
Inside is super small. I think the bar probably takes up two thirds of the floor pace (or is that an exaggeration?) but still really nice inside if you want to grab a table for a small group.

Really nice bar, with friendly staff and a good choice of beer. It's been refurbished recently, and as a result has toilets that weirdly appear to be a cross between a standard pub bog and one from a boutique hotel. Should appeal to the younger crowd of the type now starting to move in to the area.
R. A.
A great little pub which a good atmosphere, great mix of locals and friendly staff. It's got your average mix of drinks, could do with a better craft beer selection though.
D. L.
Our local for a few weeks whilst we're over fixing a stone problem in Google Tech HQ over in King's Cross. The main barmaid, Sarah, is a delight. Matched only by the fantastic atmosphere and original Victorian decor. It's just a shame that I can't give it 6 stars. Amazing and (Slightly) off the beaten track.

As long as the booze is coming! Perfect location to meet up fancy locals I group or by yourself, or take your date and have a private conversation. Staff is very helpful 😀

Best pub in Islington by far
Great bar staff and atmosphere. A Perfw t mix of an old Islington pub with a few regulars and also caters for local work crowd with a wide selection of wines, spirits, beers and great food. Close to Kings Cross and the Angel and has a nice private outdoor area and tables and space outside
S. F.
Traditional looking pub with a pared back decor with exposed wood. Traditional service of lunchtime foods, including burgers, bake potatoes and fish fingers in buns. Was quite noisy though even at 2pm in the afternoon as there was nothing to dampen the noise.
P. N.
Really friendly old school London pub biggest plus point if you like pie mash and liquor they do it every Saturday but I would advise putting in an order it goes quickly
K. S.
Great for an after work team drink, secret garden out back a nice shaded area

Good pub for a pint. Nice selection of beers, cheap grub and recently renovated. Good sun trap in the summer.

Had a great time lovely governor to friendly kind regards Gary l

Staff were more interested in chatting than serving customers and was grumpily told they 'don't do food' - didn't even offer a packet of crisps. Star of Kings up the road is much friendlier, will just go there in future.
S. B.
Used to be my local 20 years ago... quite a lot has changed and it's now a very nice bar (not that it wasn't 20 years ago.)

From 12th Oct the pub will apparently (so the Islington Gazette says) be selling M.Manze pie & mash 😁, six months after they finally closed on Chapel Market.
