Wow....we love this pub. Its small, busy and very friendly. Staff are great too. Up for the weekend to watch Argyle v Chelsea....we met a Chelsea supporter and his friends and had a great time over about 6hrs !! Nice beer, good gins and nice chips!! We don't make a habit of going back to the same pub but this place was the exception....back Sunday night for more !!

Close to Covent Garden can be found The White Lion pub. Upstairs from the delightful pub is a treasure of a restaurant you might easily miss. The Pie Shop is a small, 9 tables mostly for 2, plus a small bar, in a room most might consider a reasonable sized front room, restaurant. Meals are prepared on the floor above and served via dumb waiter to the restaurant floor. To say the space available to this establishment is restricted is an understatement though customers would not think so given the excellent service and quality of fare offered. The staff are great, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable, never backward at giving their own recommendations off the menu. Speaking of the menu, speciality delicious pies are rotated by day on the menu, also offering, perhaps the best, Fish & Chips I've tasted back in the UK. Feel free to disagree, but I've tasted a few in different countries and so no slouch, though it is down to personal preference. The mushy peas did sway that opinion. My companion started with the Fish Pie, accompanied by Bulmers, Old Mout Cider, and ended with a delightful Sticky Toffee Pudding with custard, wherby yours truly washed the main course down with some London Pride (on draught of course) and rounded the meal with an Bramleys Apple Pie with custard. Two happy travellers on a trip back home were well sated with the food, drink and atmosphere that would be hard to beat in this modern day eat-on-the-go society. Definitely ately a place to visit if you are hungry and want great home-cooked style food with a good choice of drnks.

I was in town with My colleagues over from Germany and they wanted to go to a traditional London Pub with great Pub food. I can honestly say the evening was perfect and I have to say the service we received from Gabby was nothing short of amazing. Really friendly, attentive and very welcoming. I highly recommend this Pub if your in the area.

Amazing and cozy pub in central London!! The food is great (the burgers extraordinary). All the staff was very friendly and very fast! You could see they cared about the service and that they wanted you to have a great experience. Lovely! They also have a very nice collection of whiskeys and gins, very impressive! Very popular pub excellent selection of real ales ,ciders and gins. I was drinking Hogs back Tea, nice smooth pint. Friendly pub where we were joined by some Australians. Upstairs is their famous pie restaurant. Very popular so wasn't able to try as 45 minute wait. Even got a seat which was a bonus in the pub. For gin and real ale drinkers well worth a visit.

Went here last Saturday night after being recommended the food by one of the chiefs (Alessandro) and was not disappointed, it was lovely and quiet and the service from Hannah was amazing she was very polite, welcoming and always had a smile, the Food was very nice and came in very good time the prices were well worth it ! Small, cosy pub in the heart of Covent Garden. Given its location the clientele during the daytime is primarily tourists but the staff make a great effort and don’t dismiss customers as ‘passing trade’ as I’ve seen elsewhere. The downstairs bar is small but has plenty of seating - particularly if the weather is good, with people preferring to stand outside. The main dining room is upstairs - the usual Nicholson’s menu (they serve good pies)! The stools by the large windows are great for people watching. In my humble opinion, a better option than its opposite neighbour!

Great pub. Lovely, welcoming and helpful staff (sorry ladies I forget your names). My partner's son really enjoyed his hunter's chicken and we loved our selection of little plates. A cracking little London pub staffed by wonderful Eastern European ladies - loved how they dealt with the rather rude little Italian chap too. Respeck!

Had a look around the market for a place to eat which was rather busy to find somewhere suitable. Just of the market was this little pub which was pleasant and relatively quite considering its close proximity to the market. Good normal pub menu with reasonable prices between £12-£18 for a meal with a drink. We have a lovely view just towards the market to. Would consider going back in we visited again.

I come to this beautiful pub for years now. The exterior and the interior are both so beautiful. The building is from 1888, right outside Covent Garden station, on the way to the market. The team has always been so fun and I always feel welcome there. Great prices for the location too. This is my one and only stop when in the area!

Lovely place for a lunch with view on covent garden. Gives you the option to either sit and eat outside and be surrounded by the crowd, or in the lovely divining area upstairs. My dad and I went for the latter and we were greeted by Margi (scusa se non si scrive così) who made us feel welcome! Food was delicious, and arrived quickly. Would definitely come back!

This is a nice traditional English bar, sadley it’s very small and the range of beers is not great. It can be very cramped at times but you can drink on the street outside the bar where there is standing room!! You need also get the code for the toilet so don’t go in a rush.

Nice traditional pub, a little different from the one across the road, it seems to have more regulars, more local people...however it is in Londons Covent garden and so like most places in the area it is not short of tourists and sight seers, dinning room is upstairs...

We were looking to book however, as we were passing we were able to get a table as a walk-in. This is a welcoming pub in the heart of Covent Garden and a lot quieter during these tough times. In previous years this would have been heaving at a lunch time in December. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The food was great too. For two discerning vegetarians the menu presented a lot of choice. Great place and we hope that some sort of normality returns very soon. People and places like this deserve to flourish again.

Very slight downside is the bar bathrooms are downstairs. However the beer was good, as was the amazing service.

Nice restaurant, the service was great, the meal was really tasty but there were a few meals which weren't available. The prices for the meals are decent, not cheap but definitely not expensive. The beers are a little pricy mostly around the 5 pound. The service fee, which is 10% of the total cost, came a little unexpected but that wasn't really a big deal. So if you're looking for a cozy restaurant for a decent price this is it.

I was here in the White Lions with my very small family of three for an early dinner, I had to commend what a great ambience particularly in the upstairs dining room was. What came out of the kitchen was exquisite, quick and great service. If i am to have another opportunity for another dining particularly not so early like we did, and should it be in central London, I am sure i will definitely be back here.

This may look like a cliché pub in a touristy area, but our food and the service were very good. The menu was more creative than we expected and the presentation of each dish was impressive. Wonderful variety of gins to try. Pretty seating area upstairs.

Was very disappointed with the food. My expectations of a charming English style pub meal with wholesome ingredients and traditional cooking methods, was not met in the slightest. The ‘signature’ pie had a very low grade chewy meat, the fish and chips were soggy and chicken breast was over cooked and rubbery. A score of three is generous and is only propped up by the staff which were very accommodating.

Don't be dismayed at the outdoor crowd and wander upstairs to the cozy dining room and bar for a pie and pint. We got lucky and hit just when the place had a lull in a Friday around 4:40 p.m. and so scored a lovely seat by the window with nobody else around but the wonderful wait staff. We ordered fish pie and applewood smoked Mac and cheese along with a more than delightful Monkey 47 gin and tonic and Nicholson's house pint of Ale. The food came fast from there dumbwaiter below, but the pie was a bit unevenly cooked wit some parts cold and some needing salt. The Mac and cheese was hearty and tasty and perfectly cooked and flavored, so be sure to get that if you have liking for cheese (and tbf, who doesn't?). Pretty place, lovely people and a wonderful time. All with a classic and clean pub ambiance you will fall in love with. You won't be dissapointed.

Nice beers but a bit too expensive for me prices varies from £5.40 onwards for a pint I guest you can only find it cheaper by going for happy hours unfortunately this please doesn't do them as far as I know. Also nowhere to seat as the place is packed!

Just opposite another big pub in Covent Garden the queue at the bar can be long and extenuating but when you finally get to order you can count on a good selection of wines and beers. Haven't tried food as it was so busy that getting a table was impossible.

Yesterday we tried to get rid of our last british pounds and visited the White Lion. Our meal: Fish & Chips, and a Pie (Chicken, Ham Hock and Cheese). Ofcourse I drank an Ale.
