Reviews of The Widows Son
T. C.Local place. Owners are actively trying to improve it. It's pretty good as a local hangout already. Chill. Live music. Trivia. Standard selection of beers. What's not to like.
R. J.A nice, small, slightly hipster pub. The outdoor seating is some very basic tables out the front which look into a built up courtyard for new-build flats.
J. D.So I don't really want to review the Widow because I want you to come because it's great and I don't want to share it!
The food is great, the staff friendly, drinks will price and the resident dog Oscar makes the plane feel like a home from home.
We had the Sunday roast (meat and veggie). Both were really tasty and great value.
The Widow, all in all, is just a damn good pub!
W. B.Wow, this place has changed a lot. From a shabby old man pub, fruit machines etc, to a cool cocktail bar. I had the beetroot and chilli margarita. I'd also recommend the T Rex. A breath of fresh air for the area.
B.Great pub and great staff with a Lovely selection of beers to choose from. Never over crowded which is so great during COVID.

M. H.I was staying in this area with work colleagues, while on business, at the Excel conference centre and decided to try them for after work beers and dinner.
We had no idea what the food would be like.
What a surprise! The food was great! We had a mix from the menu; pie and mash, pulled pork sandwich, and gourmet burgers. My work colleagues and I all agreed that the food and service was excellent value for money.
