Reviews of The Windsor Castle Pub

🚇 Baker Street

❤️ The Chaps and I booked a visit to a tour of Lords Cricket Ground and have a day out on the sauce afterwards, our first port of call was here at the @windsorcastlepub in Marylebone.
.
It’s just a five minute stroll from busy Baker Street Tube and a ten minute walk from Lords Cricket Ground. On arrival we were met by a nice fella who seemed to be the Guvnor and he sat us in the outside space at the front of the pub. It was pretty quiet when we arrived with just a couple of punters inside but within a short period of time the place started to fill up and was full outside. The service here was attentive and enthusiastic and we got our seven pints in no time at all. This boozer is unique architecturally with its narrow footprint and faux battlements at the top of the building. Inside there is a reasonable sized bar and a dining room upstairs which were simply furnished and stylish none the less. The food here is reasonably priced with the menu focused on burgers and pizza. The beer here was decent and well kept and cost just under six quid a pint which is slightly on the high side, also we didn’t realise that a service charge was applied because we didn’t check the receipts until after we left. I don’t agree that a service charge is the right approach for pubs to charge their punters who are purely drinking, I checked the pubs website afterwards and it mentions the service charge is “optional” but this was not explained.
.
Lots of positives to report about this Marylebone watering hole, great service, good beer and lovely location. The service charge in my book is a bit cheeky but if you know, you know. So would I return? Absolutely I would, I really enjoyed having a pint here with my mates and in the lovely surroundings of The Windsor Castle.

I usually don't leave reviews for places unless I really have an exceptional experience with the food; staff, etc.
My food was prepared to order with no mistakes. The bacon was as ordered, crispy bacon. The prices are reasonable and if I could compare it to another place nearby, it was ten times better for the same price... all was just great.
I highly recommend a visit here.

Great place. Staff were amazing. Food (pizza) delicious. Will be telling friends and coming back.

Super little pub tucked away in St John's Wood with a lovely menu and Stella on tap... highly recommended! Service is great and food takes about 29 mins which is a brilliant sign that it is cooked fresh and not microwaved, they also do the burgers without the Bun so keto friendly!!

What an absolute gem! 3 of us came here for an early dinner on Saturday 11th December after a very crowded and hectic day in the city. The place was eerily quiet but oh so welcoming with a blazing log fire and super friendly staff - an oasis of calm and tranquility! Food and drinks were good and very reasonably priced, lovely relaxed setting, can't fault it.

The Indonesian food is AMAZING. Fantastic flavours and textures. I can’t wait to go back to try the rest of the menu

This is situated on the cusp between Regents Park and St. John's Wood. The bar is lovely but upstairs is even better.
The shape of the bar is unique with a curved frontage repeated upstairs.
It is a great spot for an event or wedding or the like....picturesque and cosy.

Very friendly staff. Great food. Pity they don't have my favorite beer anymore, 1664.
P. J.
Very nice, quite pricy with an automatically added service charge on drinks orders not just food but a great vibe and lovely staff
D. W.
Good beer, great staff, lovely setting.

A great set up for a pub next to the University, with friendly staff.

Pleasant Sunday Evening.
My friend lives across the road and we decided to go for a beer and pizza early on a Sunday evening. A real lovely old fashioned pub. There were a couple of good beers on draft including my favourite- Erdinger Weiss.
We selected a couple of pizzas which was one of the main food items that others have commented on.
Indeed they were great as well as being from a wood fired oven. Add to that a warm welcome and we left satisfied.
A. H.
Fantastic food and beer. The staff are super friendly and I'd recommend popping in for a few beers and some food.
D. E.
Came in here after a wander around Rengents park in the nice weather. The place doesn't have much outdoor seating.
R. A.
Been here a couple of times for a summer gathering when it's been too wet to go to Regent's Park. They have a good space upstairs that you can book. Decent selection of beers with friendly staff. Very good selection of pizzas and the pulled pork burger is amazing
C. L.
Nice place with a friendly service and a good selection of food and drinks ... Would definitely go back ... Book a table though
A. R.
Fabulous pub for a Sunday afternoon (or any time) - rather a fascinating building, lots of character, and we all enjoyed the food and wine. They also have some great spirits including Japanese whiskies.
V. N.
Great place! Good drinks, good food and really chill atmosphere. What else would one want form a pub?
N. C.
Fantastic pub, great drinks selection. To our dismay we were served nachos with that plastic cheese that just looked so awful. Such a basic error on what looked a lovely local. Pizza was average but at £8 who cares. This place has so much potential.
J. C.
This is a great easy going pub, next to business school with a lot of life.
K. S.
Wonderful and cosy place, with three floors of sitting available. Low yet pleasant music played in the background. High spirited people working at this place, making you feel homely and enjoy the experience much more than any other pub. Quite quiet on a Sunday evening, which I find adorable, especially in a busy place like Waterloo. It's like running away from the busy London life. The place itself is nicely decorated and seems so cosy and friendly. Would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a romantic date or a quiet place to have a catch up. The pub also sells food for a reasonable price with plenty to chose for a vegetarian / vegan. I can see myself coming here more often.
A. M.
I would encourage anyone in the local area (around Baker street/marylebone) to bypass the tourist pubs and walk an extra couple of minutes to the Windsor castle. Possibly the best home made burgers & pizzas for miles around. Meeting the landlord Ronaldo, is worth the extra effort itself!. The drinks are always clear and fresh - no dirty glasses or duff beer served from dirty pipes here, try it and enjoy
T. T.
Not a bad pub for pre-drinks. However, the drink choices are quite limited and the prices are high for a uni type of bar (since it's basically next to a business school and only students go there). They also don't accept cards for charges less than 10 pounds.

In an attempt to avoid the disgusting beer and food on offer at Lord's on Saturday, for the Warwickshire vs Surrey final - we had to venture outside the ground to find some sustinance.
The best thing we did all day was to find this little gem of a pub. Beer was drinkable, food was fantastic, staff were brilliant.
I would encourage anyone visiting Lord's, if they are not taking their own food & drink, to not waste your money on the rubbish on offer inside the ground - but to spend it at this great little pub.
R. C.
Avery friendly local with a wide choice of draft and bottle beers, and even some spirits you may find difficult to come across. The upstairs dining room offers a bistro style experience. I've been many times to both.

I want to really like the Windsor Castle as it used to be my ‘local’ when a student. But sadly although ambience, furnishings and food are immeasurably better than 20 years ago, the beer is not. I tried all three of their ales on tap. The first (under 4% session ale) was insipid. The second over 5% was supposed to be an IPA but was unrecognizable as such and the third was completely undrinkable. Judging by the amount of pumping required to get a pint out I’m guessing they had long lines and from the taste of the third pint I’m guessing they hadn’t cleaned them in a while! The bar staff didn’t appear to care that two customers independently handed back their undrinkable pints while I was there and continued to serve the noxious brew to others. Shame

Loved everything about this pub!! Very friendly and helpful staff as soon as you walk in, quick service and AMAZING food! Highly highly recommend! I will be back 100%
S. H.
Was here for a friends birthday party the other week. Thought it was a really nice pub with a great selection of wine and beer at very reasonable prices, especially considering its location. Only slight bugbear was that the function was upstairs but the only bar is on the ground floor and was very busy making getting a drink a bit of a mission.
R. M. P.
The staff and service at the Windsor is amazing. Social distancing in the premises inspires confidence. Love the food too.
G. R. (.
Spacious and friendly atmosphere! Close proximity to Baker Street and Marylebone Stations is really fantastic. Not to mention Regent's Park is just a stone's throw away.

Where to start with this place!!!!!!
We are hopping around in pubs in Marylebone and we found People behind bar are very humble & kind enough as well knowledgeable about serving drinks...especially Bardha /Ana maria.
Keep it up Guys 👍🏻
M. P.
Good atmosphere, be careful with real ale as the barstaff are not trained. A cloudy and eggs IPA is not a good pint. No matter start the barman says.
H. K.
Just had dinner here and all i can say is this place crazy, the Indonesian food are awesome and authentic..Feels like my mom cook for me!!
S. P.
Decent pub with a good selection of beers....very good beer and certainly not short measures. Bar staff friendly and efficient
S. V.
Go here mostly for beer, since it's near my flat. Can get overly crowded with students from London Business School, which is next to it. The pizzas are surprisingly good!
G. S.
Great staff, great service.
L. M.
Friendly staff, great beer, standard London prices. Enjoyed sitting outside watching the world go by.
J. B.
We always go there for a pint on our Beatles walk for Swedes, I have to convince my party to stay with the ale and not go for the swedish cider, though.. Always a friendly smile and great service.
A. G.
Very good food and service. Great atmosphere and decor. Cozy and warm. In a city full of good pubs, this is a great one.
