Reviews of Well & Bucket
S. S.
Very affordable for the area with an incredible beer selection. Had a peach sour that was wow. Great bar bites that were also affordable; we got a bunch and some sides to share with the table. Also the place was full of sexy people on a Thursday afternoon... Vibe and decor couldn't have really been better. Well pleased and we will be back 100%.

A perfect venue for card heavy punters to swipe away and do some serious drinking. Reasonably priced drinks but slow bar star in side a old music hall looking interior. The secret out area, is the central point. Perfect for a Sunday spy session.
Z. Y.
The little garden on the back is fabulous, I like the warm lights across the eaves. Food is also good btw. I would recommend crab fries. A good place to have fun and drink with ur friends during the night.
J. J.
I literally only ever came here for the oysters (as did everyone I know that came here), but they don't do them anymore due to new owners.
It still says they do them on the website, which is the only reason I took a friend last night. But it was wrong – so don't make the same mistake.
If you're just after a nice pub in Brick Lane area then this will do the job. Shame though, it's lost what made it special.
M. A.
Loved the interior decoration and garden. My new fav pub!
M. H.
Go for one thing, and one thing only: the crab fries!! To DIE FOR! No need for dinner, just order two of those and you’re good to go. The aioli with it is just the cherry on top.
M. M.
Nice back space, nice cider and beer, food is good too, French frites with crab
A. N.
Popped in for a quick drink. Great choice of beers and wines by the glass. Fab, fun atmosphere, good music and not over-loud. We didn't eat but will next time - the menu/food looked great. (Only quibble was aircon was a bit chilly!)
N. J. J.
Amazing beer selection, food menu very small and specialized.. very noise in the inside part.. beer garden heated and cozy
J. S.
One word 4 syllables phenomenonal. Oysters were amazing. Fish and chips out of this world. Atmosphere on point. Service was very fast and prices affordable. Well earned 5 starts. A new favourite spot.

This would have to be one of the coolest bars I’ve been to when visiting London.
It’s quite easy to get to and sits in a very busy thriving and exciting part of the city and whether you meet people after work for a quick drink or stay on for dinner this place certainly has it all.
It appears to have been recently renovated and offers a great menu selection of food and you can sit either at tables or just on stalls around the bar and stay quite casual.
I visit London twice a year and this was my first visit to this place. The service is fantastic with staff very very keen to provide exceptional service and keep the customers happy.
They also play cool music making your stay a fun one. You can get a bit loud and when busy are little rowdy but I guess that is all part of the atmosphere which is terrific.
Please LIKE my post if you found this valuable

A pub and Oyster House on the east of Shoreditch. Very pleasant with a cold pint of Hell's. Quirky decor with a shabby post industrial feel. An enjoyable visit. The menu here is for seafood lovers, no surprise for an oyster bar I guess. It does look tempting.
T. K.
Fantastic fish and chips and really pleasant service. They are doing a great job during covid. Also the oysters are amazing every time! Photo is half way through eating ;)
K. K.
Ladies at the bar are just the nicest people. Great selection of beer. Love the vibe.
C. M.
Looks nice, great variety of beers. However the atmosphere and music is quite loud making it hard to have a conversation. Staff didn't want to lower the volume.
L. W.
Came here for a drink at the bar on a Sunday. The atmosphere was fab and the bar staff were very friendly. Great place for a catch up with friends with a cosy vibe
B. V.
This place is fantastic! Friendly staff, very affordable and a great range of beers and spirits. The place was busy the whole time we were there but it never felt rushed or stressful. The food was really tasty and we didn't have ro wait long. Love the decor, too. Wish were staying longer in London so we could come again!
J. S.
Good place for group hangouts and meet ups. The food is pretty good standard, although can be a little pricey. The oysters aren't cheap but are of good quality and the sliders were generally well flavoured and ordering 10 gives a good variety.
The sides were also tasty with special props for the sweetcorn and pepper fritters. Looked enviously over at the next table's lobster roll which is not unlike (appearance wise anyway) the ones you get at Smack Lobster.
The cocktails were lovely too and the variety of beers both bottled and draught is amazing. Something for everyone.
Casual vibes and an outside seating area available too but you must book, this place file up very quickly.
J. W.
Great selection of spirits and fab seafood menu. Well worth a visit. Hidden gem in my eyes
S. E.
Beautiful decor... cool as hell. Great produce and a brilliant seafood / slider menu. Great selection of draught bottles and wines... only 4 stars due to tiny single unisex bathroom with no mirror. lol. Otherwise this place is beautiful, clean, and the staff are friendly, helpful (and hot).
C. S.
Exceptional service and atmosphere. Great place to mingle when single. What a night. One of the GOATS for a night out in the big smoke. In a word: yayah
A. M.
Nice enough.
Staff were good and friendly, welcoming.
We had some time to kill so stopped in.
Decor - distressed; it was thought the place as an old pub had been left to rot for a while before being resuscitated with some of the damage left in situ. A brave stylistic flourish, and better than too-new cleanliness - this had character.
They serve drinks, service was respectable, drinks were fine.
We drank up and moved on to our destination.
Nice place to kill some time.
J. H.
Great modern looking bar, large artworks and trendy interior with a vast selection of beers, spirits and cocktails.
Food is also available.
H. B.
Friendly staff. Lovely decor. Great menu. Great beers and wines. Deserves its reputation.
N. F.
A huge barn of a place, with distressed glazed tiling on the walls that looks as if it's come from a much smaller pub, this place seems to promise more than it delivers. It's quite noisy, a fact not helped by its location on a busy street, but since most of the noise comes from the customers, I suppose they don't mind.
I didn't get a chance to try the menu, but it looked competent enough, but those eating looked to be a little disappointed, if their body language was any indication. It was a shame that we couldn't set at the terrace to the rear, but all the tables were occupied by hipster types locked in to their laptops. Fair enough I suppose, but one hipster to each table is a bit selfish.
There were no ales on when I visited, so we had to settle for Camden Pale, a craft beer on keg. I'm no fan of the stuff, but it was a hot day, I was thirsty and it was at least cold and wet. A pity it was so gassy, so I belched all the way home. The next morning, I almost blasted the duvet off the bed!
M. S.
Really chill place to hang out and have drinks. The garden in the back is a cute little space as well. Food was good, especially the oysters and sweet potato fries! Service can be a bit slow during busy times.
D. K.
A very tasty and well cooked and presented fish finger sandwich. A relaxed atmosphere and good selection of beers meant a most enjoyable lunchtime experience.
M. B.
I visited this place yesterday for the first (but not last) time and loved it!
The interior decor is nice and the atmosphere is super cozy.
The oysters and the lobster roll were delicious with a more than respectable wine and beer offering.
S. R.
Nice drinks, comfortable place and live music. Good backyard for alfresco cocktails. Worth the time and money!!
K. D.
Great location, lovely venue... nice pint!
Y.
Lovely oysters, one of the best small outdoors areas I've been to, and a fun underground cocktail bar with great vibes
G. M.
I'm American and randomly visited this restaurant. This place was amazing. The service was great. I tried the small burgers, the prawns and the avocado salad. All were very delicious. The prawns were exceptional because they came with that garlic aioli sauce which was surprising great and ended up ordering more after. The best small vurger, had the kimchi sauce on it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone to try
I. A.
Very impressive about customer services and the quality of the food. I try different things from the menu and I love it. Regarding the conditions especially this time when you must to sit outside because of the COVID it’s not a problem at all because you got the heat and I felt warm despite the fact outside was so cold because of the rain. I enjoy my evening in this place, first time when I came here and I highly recommend. Friendly atmosphere, very clean place, I will definitely come back.
V. L.
Pint of good IPA and some decently priced seafood, don't look further in London.
F. I. t.
Had a lovely beef roast just before Christmas. A nice stout. Had great service too. Cute and warm place.
A. C.
Great beer selection. Beautiful space with a cute little garden courtyard and nice natural light.
K. M.
Really lovely pub and the service is amazing, so friendly and they were so accommodating to us when we didn’t have a booking and ended up moving tables. The table service was unbelievably quick. Give the staff a pay rise! The food was also really good and great selection of beer and wine. Recommend!
L. L.
Really great location. Friendly staff with genuine smiles! Love that the menu caters for all including Vegan, AND there’s an absolutely delicious 0% cocktail on the list. I will definitely be back! With or without the husband and dog! Great atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon but not over Crowded.
S. D.
All staff were really friendly personable, went out of their way to help us and were very welcoming. The food menu is lovely and the cocktails are amazing. Very dog friendly and ours were given a bowl of water straight away without us asking!
K.
Great cocktails and beer reasonably priced
S. T.
A good pub with a wide range of different beers (including a decent non-alcoholic selection). Prices are very average for this hipster area (£5-6 a pint). The pub was pretty dark though, so made reading the menu difficult!
I would definitely return though if locally there again.
M. H.
Spacious pub with a beer garden. I had some of the sliders from the food menu which were good.
R. H.
The atmosphere in here was really nice in a way I'm not sure I've experienced before in a darkened pub. I tried to think of a best description whilst waiting for my dinner (selected from a seafood/lobster/oyster esque menu.) The word that kept coming back was 'feminine'. And if you're uncertain, that's an accolade. I ordered fish and chips because, unusually, I was in the mood for it; and an oyster. The oyster was brilliant and the fish was fresh and (again less common these days) not overcooked, and by fresh I mean it had that trace of seaside flavour.. genuinely fresh. The beer selection was great. The only oddity was that the fish and chips came with some toast on the plate. I didn't really know what to do with it. Presumably to balance the look. I might have suggested they swap that with another random option that's more in keeping with the pub, maybe cress...
S. F.
Banging pub nice outside kinda spenny but that's what you get for going to the best pub in the area
S. S.
Great atmosphere! Love the interior design. Food is excellent. I recommend the negroni in the cocktail bar in the basement.
J. S.
Came here with some friends, interior decor is really nice, and the vibe is great - would go again just for that. It was quiet when we arrived which made for easy chatting, but quickly got loud & busy after work hours - no fault of the bar though. Definitely worth checking out. Can't speak for their food, but the ale was great. Menu a little overwhelming but plenty of choice for an adventurous drinker.
G. P.
Great atmosphere, so many beer options! Would gladly come here again - great place to take a date or to hang with friends. Just be aware that like most places on the weekend, if you want to stay later in the evening, reserve a table as most of the tables in this place are booked up for the evening.
E. S.
Cool space, shame their outdoors isn't bigger as it gets the right amount of sun in the summer. Indoors is very edgy and a good setting for a casual date. Or after dinner drink. Usually go here for a getaway drink with colleagues.
Haven't tried the food, but the drinks are expensive as hell. I recommend taking a proper look at their extensive beer collection. It's got a lot of variety.
Decent pub, but there's probably better in the area.
B. N.
Great pub with very honest staff and clientele. I went there for a birthday party after work one Friday, I accidentally left my work bag with my work laptop behind at the pub. When I called back the next day they had collected it and had it there waiting for me. Can't speak highly enough of this place
N. I.
Lovely pub with a unique and interesting décor inside. Staff very nice and even allowed a sample of a cherry chocolate ale. Lots of nice variety of drinks to choose from and nice range of seating. Prices high but it's London prices after all.
T. S.
Beautiful pub with good beer, good food and fantastic atmosphere. Really appeals to the 20-28 year old crowd with a plethora of beautiful faces getting off their faces. Great little basement snug area with low ceilings and raucous smoking area out the back. Take ID if you are under 30.
j. y.
Cracking boozer with a great selection of beers, ales, porters and whatever else your thirst needs to quench it. The upstairs interior is pretty special and it always has a great vibe. The downstairs feels like a hidden speakeasy and it has a spacious, high walled beer garden at the back which is quite unique for a London pub. Staff are always helpful and keen to assist you selecting the right ale.
D. W.
Nice pub with lots of craft beers up top and decent cocktails in the dimly lit cocktail bar downstairs. Spent most of the night downstairs working our way through mostly well made cocktails. Good vibe, friendly staff, spot on background music volume
A.
Shabby chic. Wonderful service and food was good. Never go wrong with a plate of oysters and a drink in the sun. Look out for the hidden court garden out the back.
H. H.
I really like this place. Great beer and a fantastic vibe. My only gripe is the difficulty with seating and, hence, getting food - also, there isn't any proper bar food but some people might prefer the fancy(ish) tapas-sized food on the menu. This place has an amazing beer menu with a good selection on tap. There's a great little courtyard in the back which is especially nice in the summer.
L. O.
Lighting at night that initially is bafflingly dark, then a couple of drinks in, makes perfect sense. Good wine selection. Lovely space that's kept lots of its original features. Good midweek drink spot.
J.
Great rum collection. Love the wall art
A. M.
The food here is outrageously well priced for how tasty it is. I had the lobster roll and fries, it was honestly one of the nicest things I've ever eaten. The pub itself was lovely, it was very noisy and crowded though (it was a Friday night) but then, I'm an old fogey and am probably after a more sedate place. However, I would definitely go back on a quieter night.
l. t.
Great atmosphere and pretty reasonable drink prices for East, there was a good beer selection too. The bar in the middle means that everyone stands around it rather than huddling at one end of a room, it's a nice feature and the decor is typically trendy. I haven't had the food but it looked good! Good place for big groups of people.
D. M.
The beers are many and the sliders are tasty. The other drinks and spirits are also well varied. In fact I think its one of the the best stacked bars in town. The atmosphere is good as well with people from all walks of life.
The only negative thing is that the place can get too loud (maybe its the loud music, bad sound system, or bad acoustics). This forces us outside to the garden every time, which in itself is nice, but then have no other choice but to leave the pub when the garden closes at 10 or 11 - can't bare the noise and don't want to lose our voices from shouting over the music!
D.
Visited after work on a Friday night. Became very busy very quickly. Like others have said, music is quite loud here.
Good selection of beers both bottled and on tap. Prices were about £4.50 a pint, which is about right given it's location. Decor is quite interesting, sort of shabby chic, vintage East End bar.
Tried the chicken wings and sliders - both pretty good, not a huge amount for the money though.
There's a small patio area outside, with electric heaters all around, making it warm enough to stand outside even on an Autumn evening.
L. M.
The times i have been in I've always managed to get a seat and served pretty quickly. Its a newly furnished pub with an old school vibe. The sliders are delicious and not too badly priced for Shoreditch or London and good to share. They have a decent selection of drinks and there is an outside area too. The staff are friendly too which always helps.
G. A.
I visited this place on a Monday night and it was semi-busy, which was nice if you wanted to have a chilled drink and catch up. The bar has cool American style decor and some interesting gothic type art- cool. Kind of stands out compared when you step out onto the east London street. Drinks were good, didn't try the food. Would like to try it on a weekend night
P. M.
Great interior and seafood menu, it's great that they've stuck to the heritage of the pub as an oyster house. Beer list is pretty decent if a little uninteresting at times. Service can occasionally be indifferent but usually good.
S. H.
Great pub (decaying urban chic) with a small beer garden out back. Great beer (a vast selection of craft on tap and bottled). Wall to wall hipsters. Cocktails downstairs appear promising until they reach your mouth... nothing special, but cool atmosphere and glassware!
M. M.
Great venue. We have already booked to return. Great selection of wine and beer. Very hospital staff, friendly and welcoming. Yummy food fresh and delicious. Put it on your to do list, you will not regret it.
B. P.
Great pub, good spot for a first date if you're just going for drinks. The food is a bit overpriced and not very exciting. But the beer selection is vast and the tables are cozy. There's a nice basement bar as well that does cocktails. Book the table by the window for large parties in advance.
C. J.
It's a nice venue with cool decor, a lovely beer garden, and a decent beer selection. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. I was one of only two customers at the bar waiting to be served. One bar tender sorted receipts at the till, while another filled the glass washer. Both was saw us, said nothing and continued what they were doing. I waited for about five minutes before I left and went elsewhere. I know bar service in London, particularly in Shoreditch and Hackney, isn't great but come on, there were only two of us who wanted drinks.
C. S.
Great beers, great place and great food. Staff usually very friendly and helpful too. Let down slightly by the prices, in particular the beer - make sure you check the menu instead of just ordering from looking at the taps otherwise you can end up paying £8 for a pint.
T. D.
One of my favourite pubs in London! The decoration is great, the staff is super nice, they have a huge selection of beers on the tap and spirits, and the food is superbe (try the sliders ans the oysters). This place has everything a pub should!
A. N.
Cool design, cool tunes & interesting beer selection. As for food - we all had sliders and they were great. There was a small mix up with our order but it's just a small hiccup in this busy Sunday afternoon. Will be back.
B. A. T. -. S.
One of my favourite craft beer pubs. These guys have amazing cans and bottles ranging from Rogue to Toøl and other amazing breweries. Never had food there so can't say if it is good or not. If you are into craft beer definitely visit this pub!
k. k.
A beautiful hidden gem for Shoreditch, quaint little corners to sit and drink a delicious variety, served up by friendly staff
L. D.
Decent liquor selection. Food is fine, but needs to be more liberally dosed!
a.
Rude staff. Asked for chips, didn't get any tissues, nor ketchup or mayonnaise. Literally a little bucket of fries on an empty tray. All the others had it all set up nicely. I asked the waitress for mayonnaise and she came back with a little pot with almost nothing in it. Didn't even look at me, just behaved as if she was annoyed all the time. I'm paying money to be in a friendly environment as well - what's that? Also didn't like the way me and my friend were talked to at the bar. A very 'pissed off' attitude by the waitress. Nice place otherwise with a garden.
D. M.
Great vibe bar in Shoreditch. Spacious yet cozy. Feels like more than a bar...maybe a club later...by the time we left there was a bouncer at the door. Highly recommend. Nice restaurants close by as well.
D. H.
Sangster sure makes a good Espresso martini
H. S.
A nice bar with interesting decor and a good selection of beers. The Well and Bucket has a good mix of people and it's got a great atmosphere. It can get very busy so I stay away on Thursday's and Friday's (how boring am I). They do play their music loudly. If your the type who wants to relax with a pint after work and make a few calls its not the best place. Or if you want to sip on a pint in quiet contemplation, think again! However, these are very minor points for a bar that offers something different to its customers.
C. B.
Fine pub, good place for a lively get together.
D. F.
A pub that was refurbed over the last year. Certainly seems to be more catered for the hip and trendy vibe of the area now. Has oysters and sliders on the menu. We had catfish, pulled pork and a cheeseburger slider. All quite good. Cheeseburger was best. Also had some oxtail fries, which were nice. I think their hot wings with blue cheese sauce were better though. Good beer too but watch out for the really expensive one on the end (they should say before you order it).
M. P.
Tasty Sunday Roast with a nice atmosphere. They only had beef or vegetarian options, but the beef was really great. Generous serving sizes and were more than happy to bring out extra gravy on request.
A. P.
Food's good but overpriced. Drinks are good but overpriced. Decor is a distressed chic which if you look closer is actually distressed ie falling down. Small bar and number of servers so not the quickest service but bartenders know their stuff. Extensive range of drinks.
L. K.
I hipster bar
Reasonable prices
Good gin selection
F. U.
Great pub with friendly and a brilliant selection of wine and craft beers.
P. I.
Been at the cocktail basement of well and bucket.
It is really nice, with a cozy vibe and great cocktails. I recommend the Spector and the ink stout.
Food come in the form of sliders for a good nibble, not really a hearty meal, but taste and vibe make up for it.
The lack of happy hour or 'offers' make it an expensive Friday night, but worth it.
TL;DR - marvellous place for a cocktail and some nibbles. Make sure you watch your bill as it can ramp up (service included).
M. S.
A good friend of mine from San Francisco always says this place reminds her of home. Fantastic selection of porter (and other) ales, great seafood (try the lobster roll!), nice decoration including custom-made mirrors.
The one downside is that they get their music volume and light dimming wrong often. It's simply too loud most of the time.
However, on a Sunday afternoon, around 4pm, it's lovely.
S. T.
My favourite pub for post work drinks. The selection of draught beers is exceptional. I'd recommend drinking halves so you can sample the vast selection. 750ml sharing bottles are also available featuring obscure Belgian varieties. I'd recommend coming for lunch if you can too and try the epic burger sliders. Watch out for Friday evenings though as it gets very busy.
X. T.
A mixed bag really. I’ve visited the Well and Bucket half a dozen times or so over the last two years and the experience is generally the same, conforming to many of the positive and negative reviews of other users. The music is often way too loud even in the late afternoon / early evening period and the staff can sometimes behave in a borderline contemptuous way towards customers. If you happen not to come from the trendier demographics of East London that attitude is especially acute. The staff downstairs are a lot more attentive, but then again given the “showmanship” aspect of cocktail making that’s not surprising. Upstairs however the level of service declines sharply as the place fills up and it’s not for being rushed of their feet.
The beer is good but then this is the neighbourhood for good beer. They have a good list of London brewers and a spread of interesting and lesser heard beers from across Central and Northern Europe. I’m not a fan of sliders. It seems like a quick and easy way to charge people £12 for three very small rolls containing three very small, perhaps vaguely interesting fillings. Blackened Catfish however is not as interesting as it might sound on paper. The other seafood on the menu does look enticing however I’ve yet to try.
In a way this place is somewhat undone by its location in one of the more vapidly hip parts of town. Put it a little more to the East or West, somwwhere off the main streets and I think they could perhaps have something really great. As it is however it imbibes too much of the locale and too little of the quality and degree of service that would justify their prices.
5/10
P. P.
Great atmosphere and fab little heated back yard. Yeah the pub is dark! Brilliant wall pictures. Only downside- no crisps 😢
F. P.
I do like the pub. A tad pretentious to be my favourite pub in town. Good choice of beers, pints of Delirium Tremens a nice touch. Please fix some of the wooden chairs though before someone tumbles on to the floor - a few of them are on their last legs.
J. L.
Has a small outdoor patio. Brilliant bottle and draft beer selection, and delicious seafood apps. Get there earlier on Sunday if you want a roast as they've run out before.
I. H.
Lovely place, great music, great gin. Shame about the grumpy bouncer 🤦♀️
N. P.
Just off Brick Lane well furnished popular bar that does super Gin cocktails. Gets busy after work in the evenings and creates a good atmosphere. Drinks are high quality.
S. D.
This relatively new pub is fast becoming one of my favourites in East London. It can get very busy on a Friday night after work, but I much prefer the spacious interior to the slightly claustrophobic chaos of the Owl and the Pussycat. Drinks are reasonably priced, and there's a small smoking area towards the back of the pub. Head downstairs for a cocktail at 5CC if you fancy something a little more quiet - it's rarely busy!
R. L.
Really great ambience and good drink selection, but it was rather disappointing for vegetarians. The sliders (mini burgers) only came in one veggie variety so they couldn't be matched in the same way as the meat dishes. Having said that, they were absolutely delicious!
N. R.
Decent pub just off the Shoreditch drag, with a giant copper bar serving a decent selection of craft beer. Has a great cocktail bar in the basement, with snug areas in brick-vaulted arches.
R. G.
One of my favourite places on bethnal green Road. Amazing gin cocktails..(I would rate them 4* but still great..)
And those who love their aphrodisiacs must try the variety of oysters not forgetting the great Sunday roast..go early if you wanna seat..
R. B.
Huge selection of drinks and very friendly staff, a little pricey, but on a par with trendy London pubs and bars. Great interior too, could sit and look at everything for hours.
J. G.
If you are passing by, pop in. Not only do they do fabulous beer. But they do these amazing shots where you get a mini bloody Mary as a shooter, with a fresh oyster on top. Oh and that's without even mentioning their whiskey offering, fabulous little place.
A. D.
A group of us went here after a friends showing at the nearby Espacio gallery and it was buzzing at 8pm on a weekday. The atmosphere is great, due to the clientele and the interesting decor! Located on Bethnal Green Road opposite Brick Lane, 10 minutes walk from the Overground.
B. B.
It's a nice pub with very traditional decor but a beautiful modern wine list and lovely food. Pricey, but fun when you don't want to have to search out somewhere more niche.
M. F.
Lovely pub with a wide range of beers. The staff have always been great and happy to help if you’re struggling to choose your next beer to try. Only problem in the summer is a very small beer garden that gets very full.
H. K.
Nice atmosphere and a good selection of beer.
Also tried the sliders from the food menu and they were excellent.
Very noisy on a Friday evening so if you want to have a calm chat then this is not the place to be.
T. D.
Decent selection of beers and cocktails, very good food albeit a little pricey. Beer garden is worth doing on a sunny day (if you can get a seat)
T. H.
Really lovely pub with a good sized bar, nice interiors with original tiled wall and a cocktail bar in the basement. It's bright and airy in the day and has good vibes by night.
S. N.
Really nice place with a good selection of beers. Very friendly staff too!
C. S.
Favorite pub in Shoreditch. Love their sliders. Perfect menu for a pub. And great music and clientele. And as an extra bonus; close to good record store and nearby a decent bike shop too!
T. K.
Well kept pub in East London, certainly worth a visit. This is probably obvious, but like most pubs around Shoreditch/Bethnal Green it's crazy busy at the end of the week. Cool booths downstairs, but good luck getting an empty one!
S. B.
Decent pub. Nice oysters
S. (.
Lovely pub on the Bethnal Green road. Great selection of beers! Tried some of the buffalo cauliflower which was fantastic! I'd definitely return if I was in the area again.
S. S.
good pub and we were very thankful they opened their doors at 12pm. In need of a pint.
Large space with a nice outdoors section too.
D.
Nice little place for a drink with a great selection of beers.
M. P.
Nice pub with amazing oysters!!
M. K.
One of my fav places to go for g&t. Lovely patio with heating lamps on the back. Great location, next to brick lane and all quirky Shoreditch area. 5 stars for g&t with strawberries and black pepper!
J. F.
A great selection of bottled beers and always a good number on tap as well. There are some great food options as well. The ox-tail chili cheese fries, chicken wings and the sliders are thoroughly recommended!
s. d.
Great range of decently priced craft ales and pretty good food. I'd give it 5 stars but they allow group bookings of the tables so half the time you can't get a seat.
M. B.
Amazing pub and amazing staff ♥️
L. N. K.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Sadly 4 stars because menu said chips but we got fries... there is a difference
But overall, very pleasant atmosphere
I would even go as far as to say... "Family friendly"
G. R.
Reasonably priced drinks (for Shoreditch). Staff always friendly. Limited food menu... But in a good way. What they do tastes great!
B. O.
Good atmosphere and friendly staff in Shoreditch with a large drink selection! Bonus cocktail bar down stairs and private smoking area.
T. A.
Nice layout with an awesome basement! The staff are super friendly and easy going. However they lose a star because they had ran out of cask ales, reducing the selection a lot.
R. B.
Good for quick lunch time food, though can get crowded at busy times (e.g. Friday). Menu is relatively limited (a few seafood options + sliders), but that's all to the good as it means quality is generally high. Pricing is reasonable.
J. G.
I love this place. Great beer selection, fantastic menu and good service. Seems to be where the cool kids hang out. Don't miss the crab & cheese fries... drool.
E. G.
Lovely staff. Especially guy from Lithuania 🇱🇹
Need bit cocktail list upgrade
J. Å.
Nice selection of craft beer on tap. Small but nice courtyard with heaters keeping you warm during the winter time. I'd go for a visit again.
A. M.
It's hard not to like Well & Bucket, unless you came expecting oysters (not an unusual concept given that it's billing itself as an oyster bar) and then were told at 7pm on a Saturday that they were completely out.
There are a number of tables and booths surrounding the central bar and even on a Saturday the majority of them were open for walk ins. There are also a number of bar stools around the bar - now this is something I have mixed feelings about as it makes it uber hard to get to the bar to order a drink, but overall I think it's probably good for the extra seating options.
W&B also has a large number of microbrewed beers (a good number on tap as well) which makes it the second signature item. And these are the good microbrews which embody the time and care the brewer has put into each recipe, and not the generic microbrew which one would be hard pressed to differentiate from Bud Lite. The Flying Gonzo Dog was dark, smokey, and just a tad bitter which made it perfect for a start to the night. Rob's dark porter was similarly dry and delicious while Katie's Milk Stout went a different direction and would personally suit me more as a dessert. That said, it was very tasty and almost like a chocolate milkshake in beer form.
Food wise, you're looking at a number of fried things, a selection of sliders, and a few other bits and bobs. We tried all the sliders except the veggie one and while they were all okay, the best actually turned out to be the cheeseburger with melt in your mouth meat and a bespoke ketchup that had a hint of spice.
The décor is definitely interesting with a slight Death theme without being morbid. The sound level tends to be moderate so you can still hear your mates without shouting yourself hoarse. And prices are reasonable with beers ranging from £3.50-6 depending on the size and type and cocktails being around £8-10. However, if you want cocktails, go downstairs to 5cc, the new cocktail lounge - but that's another review...
C. F.
Don't let the facade of this pub fool you, the food served inside is way better than your typical pub fare. They have a selection of rotating sliders which you mix and match 3 for £8. The Dr Pepper brisket, grain mustard remoulade and chipotle and BBQ aubergine with pistachio lemon 'slaw were both excellent. If you are in the mood for something on the lighter side, try the crab, prawn and avocado salad (a little pricey at £12 but it comes LOADED with crab and prawns).
R. M.
Cosy and comfortable, good range of beer - London prices though, goodness! And top marks for the music - I heard Neil Young, the Ramones The Stooges and NWA. That's quite a juke box!
E.
The pub is very pretty with original decors. The staff was friendly and the food was good and inexpensive. There is a nice little terrace outside which is great for sunny days!
M. C.
My favourite local!
Really chilled yet warm and cosy.
The staff are lovely and genuinely look after you.
B. R.
Used to be a really great spot. Great gin selection but beers have been flat past 2 times we have visited and they forgot our food order.
F.
Good pub atmosphere with a speakeasy in the basement. Decent beer selection with a bit more to desire from a pub. Gets quite loud music as it gets evening..
O. J.
Awesome ambiance. Good food.
M. H.
Great beer but was super packed on Saturday night. Will be going back to this pub on a weeknight because the atmosphere was nice and would like to see it on a less busy night.
D. A.
The Well and Bucket is your standard upscale/remodeled English pub. The notable aspects of this one are a decent beer garden and really good sliders. I mean, really good sliders! Other than that, it just happens to be in Shoreditch.
L. *.
Great atmosphere here, a wide variety of cocktails in their basement bar. Cosy corners and really friendly staff too
B. J.
Crab fries are awesome, the finally improved their wings too. Food has continued to get better and drinks and atmosphere have always been great.
A. H.
The Well and Bucket is great!
The staff are all rock stars especially Skye.
The food is amazing value and original.
The beer garden is a real treasure.
K. M.
Good bar but it is very loud and busy. Not so great when you are meeting people. Had my birthday here and people had to shout to be heard. Gets very busy at the weekends
A. J.
Get their sliders! So good. Mini hamburgers composed of diverse sweet delicacies.
A bit crowded on evenings, but I can't really blame the place for being too popular.
F. R.
Lovley pub with a few tables outside for smokers, absolutely recommended ✌️
D. C.
Super cool place. They used to have a nice G&Ts menu with lots of fancy combinations which is not there anymore, disappointing. That's why 4 stars
J. S.
They got the best variety of beers and the place is super nice specially the outside seating area. Friendly staff and the perfect bar !
D. O. B.
Good service and venue. Liked the terrace, small but intimate.
P. R.
Great selection of beer. No zero alcohol beer currently though. The lightest is the Brooklyn Special Effects at 0.4%
L.
Could eat the crab fries all day! Order 1 bowl per person for sure
J. D.
Nice pub serving great g&t's and has a dimly lit bar downstairs with seating in large cubby hole type things, which is great if you're on a date and want a little privacy ;)
D. T.
Propped up the bar for a while and had a great time here. Good selection of beers and a friendly atmosphere.
B. F.
Nice looking pub with a mixed crowd. Prices not the most expensive for the area. Bar staff friendly and efficient enough.
O. F.
Great range of drinks. Good for groups or a quick drink. Nice little beer garden out back.
V. G.
So nice for a central pub. A pint of Camden hells is like 4.60 and the place is not mega crowded. Worth visiting :)
V. O.
Fantastic pub with a lot of character. All the guys who work there were so friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Will be back soon!
B. D.
Strong pub with a good selection of beers. Gets busy at the weekend as it's just off brick lane. Worth checking out the cocktail bar downstairs as well.
J. K.
Great selection of real ales and wine in a building with lovely original features. Food menu looks good but unfortunately didn't get to try.
M. M.
Enjoyed the outdoor space that felt cozy and comfortable despite being a colder night. Lovely staff as well!
A. F.
Was at a group event here in of of the tables tucked away in a basement cave. It was really cool and intimate, drinks came quickly, and the space was private.
n. c.
best gin tonic in town 👄
A. H.
A rather "rundown hipster chic" pub, with a good selection of real ales and craft beers. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful bar staff.
M. M.
One of the better pubs for a mule around and a great place to drink beer-the selection is first rate.
A snug little cocktail bar is downstairs.
L. J.
Decent bar with a good selection of beers on tap. The queue can sometimes take a while if cocktails are being ordered/made ahead of you
C. M.
Great selection of beers, lovely rustic decor and outdoor area. One of the best pubs in Shoreditch.
R. M.
Nice pub if you can get a seat. Good beer range but some are very expensive. Generously sized sliders.
F. G.
Not great service. Bar staff aren't exactly friendly but not rude either. Beers were good. Nice selection.
C. F.
Good beer selection and very good service.
N. P.
Expensive for a pub.. Much better places to go in London for a better price.. If you don't mind spending a little more on what is also offered elsewhere, then this place is decent for sure.
L. C.
Beautiful bar, great staff, perfect hangout!
P. F.
I know people don’t go to the pub for food but the food here is unexceptional and these day you have to order some
s. p.
Love the oysters in here, my first time of trying and loved them so went back :), the wine is lovely and the staff friendly, a very busy and popular place.

Cool pub with a backyard area. They have a very cosy downstairs bar if you fancy a calmer, more intimate drink!
C. K.
Great pub with extensive spirit selection and friendly staff, Enjoyable atmosphere with quieter area downstairs.
R. W.
Decent tap list, expansive bottle list and wide range of spirits. Some of the clientele can be particularly dickish unfortunately.
J. B.
Good selection of beer and the food is nice but the wait on food is long. Don't go for a quick bite to eat.
J. G.
Good range of beers and alcohols. Decent place to stop for a pint. Bit hipster but not too much
M. M.
Great atmosphere that appeared to have a good cross section of locals and not so locals. Great beer and spirits selection too.
P. D.
Beer was very expensive (i'm from czech republic - 1 beer in my country can cost 1 euro). Very noisy. A lot of people was there.
A. W.
Great pub with a nice hidden gem under it too. great to come in big parties or if you want to take a date
R. G.
