Reviews of White Hart Barnes
A. D.
Beautiful British pub, located on the south side of the river. There are outdoor tables on the upstairs terrace and on the ground floor balcony.
Inside there are plenty of tables all around the bar.
Classic English food, from starters to puddings.
As of today you can order using the app on your phone, but be aware that if you make a mistake in the order it will make it a bit hard to cancel or change any item.
Service is quick and professional.
Book in advance if you want to make sure to get a table.

Great pub for after work drinks during the week. Had a fab cod and chips, food is really good. Great selection of gins and beers! Nice setting and decoration too. Super steep spiral stairs to the loos though and they seem to get steeper the more you drink 😜
Z. M. H.
5 stars for location, view, atmosphere and service. Mushroom pie was also great just not the best I’ve had! Didn’t really matter though as overall such a nice pub. Can’t wait to go back!
G.
Didn't have chance to spend much time there as place was fully booked, so managed only to have a quick drink after very long walk around the area.
Pub seems nice, full of locals. From what I saw food looked good and portions were generous.
There a lovely terrace outside with a view over river Thames and nearby Barnes Bridge, so it's perfect spot for dining outside on warm spring/summer night out.
A. M.
The pub has amazing views and an appealing menu and fantastically decorated premises. Perfect for a drink and some food after a day at work.
M.
Great pub, with a beautiful view, very friendly service and tasty food! Can't recommend it enough! You can book a table in the garden or get takeaway and sit (without booking) at the large tables by the river. For the colder months there are also heaters in the garden for some of the tables.
M. T.
Menu is quite expensive but food tasted really good especially the piccalilli. Setting is great too, right on the banks of the Thames. Only reason for 3 stars was no disabled toilet and the main toilets are down 16 spiral steps which was really difficult on crutches and impossible for my even less mobile friend.

Really mixed experience here today. Have to say that the majority of the bar and waiting staff were excellent and very attentive here today - I had booked a table for food and drinks to watch the six nations match and took our dog down. Firstly I had asked multiple times to get some volume on the tv for the build up, finally went and spoke to the lady who had been seating us and was spoken to incredibly rudely when making a fairly standard request. Following on from this whilst we were in the midst of eating our main courses a number of other tables had been seated around us with more dogs which was getting them all rather excited - whilst in the middle of eating my main meal I was being asked to move by the same lady because of the dog yelping after staff there had seated about 5 tables with dogs in the same vicinity. Would have been happy to do so had I not been in the middle of eating my dinner and having been sat there on a table that had been pre booked for the last few hours. Overall it’s a great venue and the core staff are excellent, not the best rugby watching experience to be totally honest and won’t be booking to watch there again and the lady seating tables could do with learning some politeness, common sense and customer service - not what I expected when spending £200 and left with a bad taste in the mouth because of those interactions. Again our direct waiting staff were excellent so thanks again to you.

The perfect place for a Sunday. Had a gorgeous roast overlooking the river after a morning of walking. Lovely chicken and pork, stuffing and added pigs in blanket and cauliflower cheese. The cauliflower cheese was the only let down, lacking anything special (richness or seasoning).
The staff were lovely and very friendly to our dog. We moved inside and sat by the fire and had a few more drinks before heading home. Looking forward to visiting again.

Best Pub Sunday Roast we'd ever had. Not an exaggeration either, so much food and all of it (particularly the meat and roasties) were cooked to near perfection. If you're in the area on a Sunday it's not to be missed.
Aside from that the staff were very friendly and there's plenty of outdoor seating which is what we were looking for. Drinks prices were as to be expected in this area of London.
R. M.
We've been coming here many years - it is easily the best pub in the area IMO. Good selection of beers, food is consistently tasty and staff very pleasant. The setting is of course a huge plus too.
A. P.
Amazing terraced pub with a view on the river. We were lucky with the weather but only for the drinks then the train came. This means only one thing, we will come again when sunny to enjoy the terrace. Tasty food choices and friendly staff. Feels good to go out again.
G. K.
Very busy food was good as it was a family do and we had booked upstairs but was shut. So explained to staff and they set a table up stairs for just us so thank you
R. F.
Friendly and gave us coffees promptly. Could have opened half an hour early for the start of the rowing. The menu looked a bit pricey so we didn't eat there.
D. T.
Haha, someone has been having fun when designing/remodeling/enhancing this hostelry, the quirky staircase, the racquets the canes. It all says fun and not being taken too seriously. A lovely cavernous bar with an Island bar taking pride of place. Right on the river just for the boat race. Wonderful staff, great beer and wines with plenty of keg and a selection of Young's casks on offer. A most pleasant visit, please do!
S. P.
The best Sunday Roast! Amazing customer service! They made us feel so welcome, and I cannot wait to go back there! Well done team! Absolutely fantastic experience!

Such a wonderful discovery along the river. My friend and I had lunch there and the food was absolutely delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed eating the Fish and chips, very crispy batter and delicious chips. The staff were very polite and welcoming and provided excellent service. This place seems to be a hotspot for mother and babies, hikers and dog lovers. I can imagine this place being really busy in the summertime. Plenty of seating outside on the terrace and on the riverbank.

Beautiful historic venue stunning views of the Thames
S. R.
We first visited the White Hart in October 2014 on a first date. We got married a few weeks ago, so felt we wanted to return to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
This pub is beautifully positioned on the River Thames and benefits from great views across South West London.
The White Hart offers much more than just nostalgia and great views. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and has cool vibes. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Our waiter was extremely cheerful!
They have an eclectic menu, and we just had to have traditional fish and chips. The portions were extremely generous, as was the dessert of sticky toffee pudding.
It’s a very romantic place - especially for us!
I’d highly recommend a visit.
M. M.
Very nice pub directly at River Thames walk in Barnes. 3 min walk from Barnes Bridge station. Large outdoor area, balcony, terrace, tables at the river walk. Good food menu, very well maintained, clean facilities.
Good for a starting /ending a walk from / to Hammersmith Bridge.
C. B.
Beautiful views of the river, but I had the fishcake - it was a very small portion for a main course - two small fishcakes with a tiny bit of salad - definitely shouldn't be sold as a main.
L. S.
A classic Young's pub, but with a lovely view overlooking the Thames. On a nice day if you can score a seat on the outside patio then that is hard to beat. The food is the usual suspects, with really tasty fish and chips on offer which came with a great tartare sauce. The Beavertown beers on tap were great as well, if a little on the pricy side. My only complaint is that the location is quite hard to get to and parking nearby is rare to find.
R. B.
Super cozy place to have lunch and to have drinks along the Theems
N. R.
Nice pub venue woth great river setting. (Was raining but don't be put off by that) Food was really lovely too and a good craft beer selection.
E. A.
Great food, wonderful staff, and an amazing view.
O. S.
Nice pub by the big river. Enjoyed the Hells Camden, well crafted and no complaints about the pub grub fish and chips. One point thought I heard the dulcet tones of the Stranglers. Toilets spangly. It would be a pleasant place of an evening to while away the time as the river flows by.
J. L.
Great cosy pub right on the water, large selection of beers, function room with balcony overlooking the Thames for hire and dining room overlooking the Thames, great view of the sunset.
C. L.
Almost fine dining quality. Friendly staff, bit pricey. Beautiful view from terrace, amazing building.
D. M.
Very Covid aware, which is good. Probably because of a late (16:30) lunch, potatoes were not great, maybe reheated and very hard outside. Otherwise, the roast chicken and the rest were spot on.
K. B.
We had our wedding reception at the White Hart last weekend and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was amazing and went down a treat, especially the ham hock from the main menu. They even catered for my allergy heavy/ vegan/ coeliac friends and family!! The staff were excellent and we were very looked after. Such a brilliant place to spend an evening by the river!
P. W.
Such a cheery pub with a busy and friendly staff and feeling, a good choice of beers, sympathetic lighting and interesting interior design. Great island bar in a large room. Food is served until late (at least on a Saturday evening).
N. S.
Comfortable seating by the river, cozy interiors, prompt and excellent service.
F. o.
Beautiful pub, amazing terrace and views to die for, well that's if you like sitting beside the glorious Thames..staff were very friendly and good selection of drinks
P. B.
Lovely pub with great views down the river.. very good food
E. A.
Lovely riverside pub, with tables literally on the footpath alongside the Thames. The view across the river is beautiful and they have a great selection at the bar.
J. C.
One of the top 5 pubs in London. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, a great menu and a view to perfectly compliment your cold beverage. Top marks!
D. (.
Lovely location on the river. Decent wine and beer. Food good but could do better to get to five stars.
R. F.
A very friendly greeting by the host Michelle, then a lovely walk to my table from Sam explaining the covid protocols perfectly. His product knowledge was excellent and I had 2 very tasty pints on his recommendation, the toilets were very clean also and there were also well stocked sanitizer points throughout the pub. A thoroughly great experience I will return and next time I’ll order food as all the plates I saw going around looked fantastic
J. C.
Fantastic lunch, great service! Highly recommend. On sunny days the views of the river are fab. On colder days the pub is warm & welcoming. Definitely worth a visit.
R. M.
Friendly & welcoming member of staff, usual high standards expected from a Young's managed house
Will without doubt return.
V. K.
Great views from the terrace. Good selection of beers and other alcoholic beverages as expected form a gastro pub. The food is tasty and well presented.
J. D.
Great food, really friendly staff. A few too many dogs for my liking. It was a a bad day weather wise so that might be why they were all inside.
M. M.
The only thing that disappointed us was the weather! The food was delicious! Dessert was amazing, homemade and absolutely heaven. Location was a dream with a view over the river. Highly recommend
B. I.
Lovely location for a summer afternoon of drinking and eating on the Riverside. Nice inside too!!
D. S.
What a beautiful pub, absolutely loved it.
A. P.
Lovely attentive staff, great food (Jacob's Ladder in particular), brilliant view, fantastic beer on tap. Doesn't get much better- so happy to now be a local.
M. A.
Barnes treasure restaurant pop next to river Thames. Beautiful scenery, tasty food and friendly staff. Aim for afternoon and enjoy sunset over Thames River.
S. F.
Nice place. Good outside space and food. And also it was just the right place for us to stop for something to drink :)
E. H.
Lovely pub on the river, can get takeout and sit on the river if there is no space inside or on the terrace.
M. M.
Popped in for a quick pint before we went on to Rick Steins and found it to be a lovely pub. We would have stayed longer if we hadn't had a table booked. The Winter Warmer was very tasty.
L. K.
Lovely pub. Great food and really friendly staff
g.
This place is beautiful with its view on the Thames! The atmosphere is cosy. The food is OK but not transcending.
b. c.
Relatively upmarket riverside pub with a fine selection of wines and beers. Worth a visit to enjoy a drink on the balcony or towpath and take in the lazy river views.
D. P.
What a great pub and the 2 ladies working were excellent
J. C.
Nice place for a pint. Great location. Food is okay, but service is great.
n. p.
Beautiful Pub! Staff were so friendly, extremely accomodating and very attentive. Beautiful views outdoors as well.
T. C. H.
Super place on the river, great indoors and outdoors spaces with open views of the Thames expanse.
You’ll get a wonderful welcome and friendly service.
Delicious food & good array of drinks. The Young’s Light ale bottle can be mixed with half pint of other beers for a lower ABV% pint - an excellent initiative from Young’s.
They’ve a simple and efficient booking, payment and service system for COVID times; all as safe as can be.
J. H.
Always service with a smile good energy in this place and nice people behind the bar
R. N.
Usually quite busy and popular. Nice river views, good quality food, and outdoor seating make this place great to visit in the Summer.
L.
Perfectly cooked fish and chips, right amount of batter and not too much oil. Burger was very delicious, very good quality meat and bun. You need to order via the Young's app but they can take initial drinks orders by contactless. Great service and good atmosphere despite all the social distancing!
N. G.
Great spot by the river for a drink and bite, views are the best way to end a day.
M. L.
Many a family Sunday lunch spent here crossing the bridge after taking the tow path from Chiswick. Great gastro pub with terrace overlooking the Thames. Great interior excellent clean facilities. Clientele - it’s Barnes so beautifully polite and courteous is pretty standard. Can be busy so I suspect more recently, booking is a must!
K. D.
Excellent service, good-value food and a great view! They really took covid prevention measures seriously.
A. M.
Very nice pub , first visit for me.
Weather was not kind , but the staff are really chill and relaxed.
The food is good, but could be improved.
The location is one of the best in London and all of these things mix into a really iconic pub.
Prices are fair and in line with the area.
B. G.
Always a great view when you come to the White Hart Barnes
L. T.
Nice pub, friendly staff, cool decor. Has been added to list of pubs I want to go back to.
C. S.
Brilliant lunchtime.
Socially correct; sat at a pre-booked terrace table, overlooking the river, on one of the hottest days of the year. Nice breeze.
Seriously well looked after, and the food was even better. The Cote du Boeuf was to die for.
Good wines, all great.
Icing on the cake was the £40 off for the m/t/w August offer + another £10 off for the VAT reduction!
A great lunch experience - long may August last. 😎
S. A.
Lovely pub by the river! Both service and food was great! Manager was really nice and made a lot of effort to move us to a nice table by the river. We will be going back!
J. K.
Great place, good food, a bit unfriendly service though
A. E.
Amazing place, delicious dishes, perfect service and a wonderful view (and all this despite the fact that the place was almost fully booked)! That was a great experience
M. B.
Perfect location on the river with lots of outdoors seating. French bartender grumpy and rude. Non of your clients' fault you're not in a mood, and we don't have to put up with it. If you're not happy with what you do, quit. Didn't eat so cannot comment on food. If you don't get the bad service could be a pretty nice place to visit.
M. P.
Great location for a drink with a view! Very welcoming pub vibe inside, great location. The Sunday roast was unfortunately a little bit tough, Yorkshire pudding had been precooked and was a bit stale. Will still go back again though!
R.
This bar is really nicely situated to sit and look over the river and have a drink. Drinks are a little pricey but no more than my local and its the price you pay for living in this bit of London. The staff are attentive and friendly. I've not eaten here so I can't comment to that but it's a great place to while away an early evening in the summer.
K. P.
Not spent long enough there to really get the full pub vibe but it was a lovely visit or were there two visits. Staff good, customers interesting and a lovely riverside view. My rating might change if/when I have a chance to eat there.
E. B. W.
Great staff, comfy interior, no big TV's blaring with sports, just enough low key ontemporary background music to keep the atmosphere engaging, nice pub food (husband and I had duck roast and fish cakes and fries). We did not eat in the restaurant upstairs, but after last night's lovely experience in the pub, we look forward to eating there too.
D. C.
Another banging gaff to go to. All friendly and on the river.
Wot more do you want
M. H.
We went upstairs to eat in the restaurant because it was so noisy in the bar downstairs. It's a bit pricey but the food was delicious - not your run of the mill menu. Lovely wine as well. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Decor and ambience gets a 5. Highly recommended.
H. J.
Great location, great views and great staff. We'll be back soon.
M. D.
A lovely character pub with a superb terraced outdoor section. Fantastic environment to enjoy a glass or two in good weather. Interior is usually quite noisy but the decor is tasteful and modern. Drink and food prices are about average for West London.
T. F.
We just very recently had our wedding reception at the White Hart, and it's been very, very nice. Sam was hosting us, and she did such a great job. Fast service while always having a smile, it was really pleasant. The location is stunning right at the river, and the balcony on the top floor is great. From the first enquiry to have dinner there it all has been a very pleasant experience, with great (and reasonably priced) food, good drinks, it all was just perfect. Thanks to the whole team! Can highly recommend; also the pub area is such a great spot to have a pint of beer!
H. B.
Fresh beers on tap. Efficient service. Great views.
M. V.
Great view, good place for sundowners
G. C.
Nice location, facing the Thames. It's possible to eat outside during the summer.
Cozy atmosphere, ideal for a date.
The menu is well thought, traditional but with a touch of creativity. More restaurant then pub. We went there for Valentine's day, so maybe the menu wasn't the usuale one.
Anyway, we were completely satisfied, despite the prices a bit higher than the average.
R. D.
Super friendly staff, really nice spot by the river, and the potato dumplings were really nice !
G. T.
The food was fantastic and reasonably priced.
The staff could stand to smile every now and then though. That being said everything was done quickly and efficiently so all in all very satisfied.
Would definitely recommend and will be back again next time I'm in the area.
A. T.
Lovely pub, with great atmosphere. Seating indoor and outdoor. Few tables along the river side (get taken quickly) and also even fewer on the balcony overlooking the river. Decent selection of wines ( some of the waiters advice on wine were inaccurate, which is ok), had only a salad which was delicious .
R.
Love the White Hart. Been coming for years. Great summer spot as you have the tables literally on the Thames, or in the Thames should you strike a high tide. Gets all day sun and the last of the evening sun too. If you don’t want to get your feet wet you have the balconies to perch on also. There is also the beer garden adjacent the pub with a BBQ. The food I’d say is above average. It’s a good spot to come watch the 6 Nations too, good local Rugby crowd. There is a more formal dining area upstairs too but not a stuffy environment at all.
C. G.
Wonderful pub overlooking the river.. Great food and friendly atmosphere
J. B.
Lovely location for this pub, right on the river with a range of tables downstairs waterside, elevated balcony for sunset and good indoors.
My first visit, will definitely come back when next in the area...
Sunday roast here was absolutely excellent - roast beef, all trimmings, all 10/10 and the best pub roast I've had in a very long time! Would absolutely recommend.
S. H.
This pub is one of my favourite riverside pubs in London! It has ample outside seating, I've never had an issue with the service and is decently priced for London. If you're in the area in summer/spring it's an absolute must!
S. M.
Such a great place to meet friends, if lucky to get a table by the river. They do very good food menu, staff are friendly, though sometimes can get busy, so may have a wait at the bar, which is fine. It's always has a good atmosphere, especially a buzz on boat race day and Barnes fair.
H. C.
Fantastic for birthday lunch. Great service and fab food. The staff were excellent and it was just a fabulous vibe for my sisters birthday. Well worth travelling up from the south coast for.
M. M.
I love this place! Such great location and beautiful view from the terrace. Had a couple of Christmas lunches here with work and the food and service is excellent!! Only small criticism goes to the downstairs bar staff... Not the friendliest! But the table service in the restaurant is the best!
M. C.
Very good fish n chip!
R. G.
Lovely friendly, trendy, buzzing Pub/restaurant. Families were there and are welcome if children are seated properly. I would recommend it I went on Friday evening and was very busy but we found a table. Lots of people sitting down by the river.
A. G.
A great pub with a lovely view of the river, lots of seating and a great selection on beer (craft and the usual selection) and gins. Their food selection is good with many tastey small and large options. They regularly have off menu snack such as locally made sausage rolls.
C. R.
Great pub and a stunning restaurant upstairs. Food is great and if you'd like something even nice, check out the restaurant menu. Decent drinks selection and a perfect setting on the river - especially when the suns out.
If you're visiting Barnes, be sure to fit this into your day.
T. K.
Stunning views and solid food. A destination in itself, or a great stop off along the Thames towpath. Dog friendly and good service. The only suggestion is more excitement and rotation on the draft craft beer front.
N. H.
Visited here midweek for lunch and catch up with friends. A large pub in a great location right next to the Thames, and an easy 5 minute walk from Barnes village and Barnes Bridge station. Inside there is a large semi circular bar located right in the centre with comfortable chairs, sofas and tables all around the sides. Very customer friendly and welcoming staff.
Great selection of beers, plus wines and spirits. Food is excellent, cooked fresh to order and very tasty. Outside deck area too for when the weather is good.
M. O.
Great place by the river. It has a "at home" comfortable feel to it. The garden and terrace have a wonderful view of the outside area. My new favourite place. You can even reserve a table, at least from the table markers I saw.
A. S.
Our favourite pub in London with the most exceptional views, excellent service, friendly atmosphere and really impressive food. Highly recommended.
M. C.
Nice location by the river...not sure about service. Found a plastic piece in my salad... good for a beer and chill out
K. R.
Stunning...great place for relaxing drink on the Thames
E. B.
Traditional fish and chips were great, but could have been more generous with the mushy peas which i mistook for a sauce. Otherwise, the service was good, and atmosphere was great, eating and looking over the Thames
m. v.
Very nice pub, good drinks selection I loved the food. Would have been nice to eat in the restaurant but when we called they said was fully booked, it was almost empty by the time we’ve got there.. anyway I’ll be back.
C. V.
Lovely pub on the river Thames. Spacious, warm with friendly stuff. It gets busy and for a good reason. Food is good. In summer you can also enjoy the terrace
N. R.
If you're looking for a spot to enjoy a lazy summer afternoon down by the river then this pub is a winner. Standard drinks choices, a pretty decent BBQ and plenty of outdoor seating, including a row of bench tables right by the river. Didn't explore the inside of the pub much other than the bar and the loos, but it all appeared clean enough. Will definitely be heading back here if the sun stays out this summer.
K. C.
Stumbled across this lovely pub. The food was ok but the atmosphere and river views more than made up for it. Would definitely recommend it for summer drinks.
D. K.
On our saturday afternoon visit we found a very busy pub (due to rugby and rowing) but service was still efficient enough. We ordered food which was served in a reasonable amount of time, and was very tasty with sensible, rather than large, portions.
My one complaint was that the pub became very loud - not due to the loudness of TVs or customers, but purely the design of the place meant sounds echoed and reverberated around the place making it difficult to have a conversation. A few extra soft furnishings would probably help in this regard.
S. A.
Great spot with views of the the Thames.
C. O.
A great pub perched right over the Thames at Barnes. Spacious inside and out, with outdoor wall heaters for romantics/smokers. Wile away a little and take-in the passing trains across Barnes Bridge, or watch the daily rowing teams pace along. A good selection of beers, wines and whiskies, and some reasonable tucker. The lack of decent whisky glasses is some oversight; drinking very expensive 16-year old malt in a 10 pence water glass! Shocking, but still well worth a visit.
N. S.
Excellent. Food is amazing, nice vibe in general. Service is great. Love it.
B. T.
Great pub! Really good service and nice views over the river
K. B.
Darren the manager is great! We stopped at the pub on a long cycle ride, exhausted and he was super kind and welcoming. The pub itself is charming, and the outdoor area is a great place to sit and enjoy a pint in the sun.
D. L.
Great view and in the summer time just a very good place to have a pint with friends. Use the benches outside or the terrace if you can find seats.
The food is ok. It is pub food so don`t expect anything else and you would pay a high price because of the location.
M. F.
Lovely pub, great service, very clean toilets and bar, glasses very clean as well... lovely views by the river
C. V.
Lovely pub on the river Thames. Spacious, warm with friendly stuff. It gets busy and for a good reason. Food is good. In summer you can also enjoy the terrace
F. B.
Gotta hand it to Young's - the app is easy to access and use. Makes ordering and paying for drinks a breeze!
B. S.
Great food. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Hopefully will come back in the summer for the river view.
R. G.
Lovely friendly, trendy, buzzing Pub/restaurant. Families were there and are welcome if children are seated properly. I would recommend it I went on Friday evening and was very busy but we found a table. Lots of people sitting down by the river.
L. C.
loverly garden and servise was good table service staff had personally s too .felt normal with everything inplace to make you safe from virus
J. K. W.
Nice
B. S.
Good attention from the staff.
T. K.
Stunning views and solid food. A destination in itself, or a great stop off along the Thames towpath. Dog friendly and good service. The only suggestion is more excitement and rotation on the draft craft beer front.
J. F.
Very nice pub. Lovely
S. R.
Lovely pub by the river. Good selection of food n drinks. Gets busy at the weekend so book ahead
B. S.
First time here. Impressive decor in the first floor dining room. Pleasant ambience. Good river views to enjoy during the day. A good menu and well prepared and presented food. We will definitely try again.
Came here again last Friday evening and on return found it disappointing. For a Friday it was quiet. Only one waitress for the whole restaurant, so we had to wait a while to place our order. Later we were told the kitchen closes at ten and effectively if we wanted desert to order fast. It is not nice to be rushed and 10pm is early for a kitchen to close even in suburban Barnes.
The mains were overcomplicated and multi layered which I think meant there needs to be a lot of pre preparation and the food essentially reheated when needed. Maybe they have changed chef. The lamb rack was ordered medium but came well done. The rolled stuffed lamb was chewy and felt reheated. All sitting on a bed of a sort of coleslaw with a small portion of Swede mash. All a bit indigestible. I had to ask for a sharper knife but they didn't have a proper steak knife which was surprising.
My friend had the chicken 'oysters', basically chicken breast wrapped in bacon, with a chorizo croquette which sounded good but was again chewy and disappointing.
By contrast the deserts were good, especially the orange and rhubarb panna cotta which I can recommend.
I think they are trying to hard to make the food special and failing. Good ingredients simply cooked always win over fancy plates.
Not sure we will want to return here soon.

A step up from your typical Youngs pub due to location in Barnes and on the river front. Decent menu all well presented and tasty. Terrace outside is fab in warmer weather just to sit with a drink and watch the rowers during their training. The home cured salmon is delicious!
M. D.
It's a really nice pub with good food, but some dishes aren't prefect. The atmosphere is lively and relaxed with above averige drinks.
A. S.
This pub wins because of its location. It’s two minutes walk from Barnes Bridge station (which doesn’t in any way feel like Zone 3, but there you go) and directly on the river. They’ve made the most of that with terraces and a very attractive garden complete with a BBQ. The rest of the pub is nice enough, but certainly not something I’d travel from the wilds of South East London for. And I found that the traditional setting was a little at odds with the Rihanna playing quite loudly on a Saturday night. But the staff were nice and the drinks weren’t massively overpriced. Definitely a place worth visiting in the summer
M. M.
Great location and beer selection. The balcony and various beer garden areas are lovely on a warm evening. Menu is also well worth checking out.
-. G.
Stunning pub, ridiculously overpriced though. Gluten free beer £4.95 a bottle. Bowl of chips £4 , which I wouldn't mind paying, but they're nothing special to say the least.Shame!
J. P.
Idyllic setting on a quiet stretch of the Thames, with picnic tables right on the river bank.
S. L.
Lovely pub venue, beside the river. Fantastic service and food is good. Would be lovely to see some options for g-f food particularly with vegetarian options. Regular stop in point.
G. L.
It's always been a great pub, with arguably the best sunset view I've ever seen over a pint of light and bitter, and it still draws regular old school locals- BR, the flower of barflies
j. k.
Lovely spot to watch the boat races. Had tea on the balcony. Service friendly and prices fair. Will go back for lunch another day as the menu looked good.
P. L.
Just by the river. Dog friendly. Good food, decent range of drinks and beer.
Service was a tad slow but it's a good spot to go to for drinks or lunch.
C. S.
Historic building in a great location. Apart from the traffic. A pub with a pedigree. Tables on the towpath. Upper terrace. Etc etc. Big on food and families so often busy and, er, a bit noisy.
D. L.
Excellent food, nice atmosphere, will visit again.
R. K.
Pints are pretty well kept. Nicely done up pub. Bathroom was a bit dismal. I knew I was in for an experience as I descended the stairs and pointed five separate air fresheners.
V. F.
Really love this real pubby pub right on the River Thames. Comfy armchairs, open fires, very obliging staff and knowing what to choose on their menu that is pretty good.
J. P.
Cosy atmosphere, nice beer. Stopped in for a drink while walking along the Thames. View of the sunset across the river was lovely
R. S.
Amazing building, food and ale! Unbeatable on a sunny day. With plenty of room on balconies and benches outdoors, as well as comfy seating indoors. Staff even came to help me carry my outdoor bbq food upstairs!
A. M.
The level of consistency in their food and service puts them up with the best of Youngs badge pubs...if not a bit ahead of the rest. Great staff and busy even for a Tuesday...try the duck, it's amazing.
J. D.
Great pub on the river side, good food, lovely staff and a properly serious approach to COVID situation.
D. L.
Was reccomended by a friend and the Sunday Roast/fish & chips was very good, like seriously very good, tasty/well cooked/presented well. Staff were very attentive and friendly and good selection of drinks. top marks.
B. S.
Great food. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Hopefully will come back in the summer for the river view.
M. F.
Lovely pub, great service, very clean toilets and bar, glasses very clean as well... lovely views by the river
J. W.
Compared to a couple of years ago, the White Hart has taken a transformation quite well. From uniformed staff, there's a broad selection of ale and wine, a much more adventurous menu with healthy and vegetarian choices, but still with lovely views over the River Thames and easy access to the Thames path for long or short walks.
D. L.
If you're looking for a good gastropub this one is ideal if you're in the Barnes area. With the Thames streaming by, the atmosphere couldn't be more picturesque in the summer, and in the winter it transforms into an ultra cozy hide away.
J. C.
Great location by the River and a Young's pub my favourite ale.....Large bar area and outside seating overlooking river....good food and prices are reasonable
G. T.
Pricey, can be a scramble for the best riverside views, but generally very good food, a really pretty pub with great atmosphere and a nice upper-middle class clientele (but still casual and friendly).
V. W.
What a beautiful pub, just on the river. The view is stunning. The staff is very kind and the food is lovely.
T. C.
Beautiful pub serving a great selection of beers, with a gorgeous view of the river. Bar staff are prompt and friendly.
J. D.
Great friendly service, roast was perfect and vegans and veggies are well catered for.
One of the best riverside pubs in London.
K. N.
My favourite pub, great selection of drinks, amazing food and great staff.
B. L.
Nice spot next to river. Decent beers, can't comment on food. £17 for three beers feels a bit excessive but that's probably Barnes for ya
T. S.
Beautiful views out the back at the river, but if you're just inside then it's not so pretty. Good service and food though.
G. J.
Great place for a drink. The seating outside though tends to be too crowded and the space is very small. But the guys working there are very nice and welcoming
C. C.
Very nice decor and seating area by the river. Drink selection at the bar was quite varied as well; perfect setting for a relaxing brunch.
C. R.
Nice food. Didn't book but still got a table. C19 safe. Cod, chorizo and Samphire. Yumsk
S. W.
Nice place, perfect refuelling point if you're walking the Thames Path. Nice decor inside, comfy chairs, sunny outside terrace and picnic tables by the river. Meantime on tap and a ham hock that has to be seen to be believed
K.
Lovely place with nice outside space, lovely food, great drinks selection but unfortunately few MISERABLE members of stuff is spoiling all atmosphere You are lucky if you seen them smiling.
d. f.
Food is fantastic and Michelle the Manager does a great job in looking all the Customers.
J. S.
Plenty of seating, great lighting and good beer options, especially in the fridge. During the day it has lovely views of the river as well.
P. M.
Eight of us had a booking for Sunday lunch, we all had a fantastic time the food was brilliant, would recommend the beef and the pork belly, well done the White Hart Barnes.
D. R. A.
Decent pub food - ambience is ok - good views and location
D. C.
Sunday lunch for 5, 2 adults & 3 kids, downstairs in the bar. Great food, fast service, comfy ambience. Kids happy, wife happy, can't fault it.
C. S.
Great place to take family and lovely food
M. T.
Fantastic food, even do Vegan nights occasionally which is great, good prices and staff are always up for a laugh, usually quite packed in summer due to its location on the river, mixture of young and old and 4 legged furry friends.
C. C.
Best London river pub I know of, with picnic tables right on the Thames. Albeit limited beer selection and mediocre interiors but on a sunny day it's hard to beat.
K. P.
First time visit to this very nice and relaxed pub with first rate and friendly staff, the food was out of this world and so delicious. Thank you so much
G. K.
Lovely pub on the water, great range of beers on tap, always a good bustling atmosphere.
m. b.
Amazing location, food can be hit or miss, it a fullers pub, nice staff. Proper job m,?a good ipa, on tap
M. K.
loved this place because of the terrace and a balcony by the river that I could sit and enjoy the view. I'd say the best pub around Barnes.
L. G.
Go for the food, sunsets and river views.
Well done to the kitchen team: very good food in the pub area 👏
l. d.
Only drove past but looks a very good pub to visit and an excellent beer garden right by the river to watch the rowing club go about there business, also in a nice areas Barnes you can't beat it.
h. l.
Very good. Good food nice atmosphere. One small thing. I had a cappuccino. There was more froth than coffee in the cup. Will come back again
C. F.
Always fantastic service and a friendly welcome. They have nailed the Covid Guidelines too. You can expect to feel very safe when you visit.
J. D.
Good food, obviously well liked but music a little too loud. Outside heated seating area is excellent.
M.
One of the best things about this is huge terrace outside. You can enjoy your drinks whilst watching boats passing by on Thames.
W. P.
In my mind, the current reigning champion of riverside boozing.
In the age of uber, it is refreshing to know that pubs like this still flourish. Slightly isolated on the Barnes borders, part of the appeal of The White Harte is surely the beautiful perambulation along the Thames tow path required to reach it.
If you can bag a table outside in the summer, hold on to it until the orange glow of the descending sun sets on the west of the Thames - utterly sublime. If you squint you can also remove the Youngs brewery from view.
Watch out for flooding along the tow path.... And Ray Stubbs.
S. D.
Lovely little Riverside pub with function room.
D. S.
Great location bang on riverfront
Three real ales on
Clean, welcoming and comfortable with friendly service
Outdoor terrace, ideal to watch the river sail by
No food on this visit as just passing through, but a lovely pub well worth a visit if you in the area
B. W.
Good pub with great views of the river. Pints aren't that cheap though. £5.75 for a Estrella
S. T.
Lovely position on the river. Great for drinking outside. Menu is a bit expensive and I struggled to find something to order.
M. L.
