Reviews of William The Fourth | Leyton
J. O.
Enjoyable venue to watch football with a pint and mate....or if not listen to music in the other side. Food looked good as well
A. T. L. (. T. L.
Very nice pub. I recommend 🍻🍺😜
D. W.
Decent pub. Good beers on tap. Have had good food here in the past, not sure what it's like now but the staff are friendly. It doesn't generally get too busy. They have sky sports.
R. E.
Great range of beers and a vast classic pub space, definitely My new local! I will try the food next time.
S. T.
A nice friendly pub with a good selection of decent beers.
B. P.
Great local boozer. Good beers, good food, good prices. Lovely staff.
N. C.
Seems like a very authentic neighborhood pub. Looks like a great sunday roast. Looking forward to my next visit.
C. R.
A beautiful pub, warm service and lovely food. Unpretentious, it genuinely feels like a local pub 😊
M. T.
Best pub in Leyton by a mile. Good screens, great beer& consistently interesting & tasty pop up kitchens.
A. 5.
One of London's best Boozers. Great cask but the keg was very poor, probably been hanging around for too long. Food great value and friendly staff.
E. C.
I like the new refurbish look especially the new drinking area where the Brewery was situated. Garden was very relaxing only need a couple heat lamps.
I would have given 4 star, but the bar staff need to know their spirits for instance Malibu is a coconut flavoured liqueur made from white rum.
Apart from that the staff were quiet friendly.
c. a.
A nice friendly pub it has a gas open fire which makes it very cozy
D. G.
Nice atmosphere good food & good choice of beers & Friendly Bar Staff.
C. B.
We always enjoy our time at the William the Fourth. Friendly atmosphere, top ales on tap, great food. Nice pleasant outdoor area that gets sun too. Expect some nice chilled Jeff Buckley tunes on or to watch the football 🙌🏻
P. R.
Nice pub, clean, plenty of space with an outside area. Fairly expensive for what they sell, though probably no more than other London pubs. Serves food but not a wide choice and the provider seems to change probably because they do not make enough money. Choice of drinks is fairly limited, they seem to go for more 'specialist' brewers rather than mainstream bigger suppliers who to my mind are better quality. The local/niche brewers just don't justify the prices charged.
G. S.
Easily the best pub in Leyton. Staff are great, and always a good mixed crowd. Perfect place to watch sport, and get decent food and drink!
M. C.
Good old English east end boozer. Craft beers honest prices, best local pub award belongs here. Staff are amazing
P. B.
Lots of local real ales and great food. Little pricey, but it is London.
M. G.
Still a lovely pub, shame the brewery has gone.
C. P.
Food not to my taste but I'm a wuss when it comes to spice us I have a fish allergy so not much options for me but I love this place! Both staff and customers all just chat like we've known each other for years! Dogs allowed which I love and there is disabled access. All in all an enjoyable experience!
D.
Cracking local boozer. Plenty of character and a nice mixed crowd. Great for sport. They did have a really good roast set up but not had one since 'El Dude Brothers' left.
P. O.
Went down last Thursday for a burger night. Food was absolutely amazing.
Highly recommended.
Spoke to the chef directly (needed my burger plain,)
Very friendly and helpful response,my burger was banging.
Returning next week as well.
C. K.
Lovely eve t space at the back! Great food too!
F. M.
Excellent food. Home made food street food. Excellent sunday roast. Would really recommand william the fourth. Loved hanoi kitchen but the Greek menu they have now is excellent.... as a street food.
S. S.
I went for the Vietnamese, Tuesday night 50% off food.
The people behind the bar who took the food order were brilliant. Service was excellent, The IPA beer was great.
However I did not enjoy the food as much as the previous time.
The calamari rings were too thin so it was difficult to taste the calamari inside. Its a shame as it appears corners have been cut to offset the discount.
The other starter, Green papaya asked was fresh but lacked flavour due to the absence of herbs and spices.
The fried chicken burger was good. The chips accompanying the burger were too oily and not great.
The vegetarian jackfruit burger did not taste of jackfruit and felt more like the bean burgers you used to get 10 years ago. The patty was not that flavoursome and was oily.
Again the chips accompanying this burger was not good.
Not sure if the chef has changed. I felt it was cooked by someone without an expert understanding of vietnanese herbs and spices. Maybe something the owners need to address. I used to do take aways from their home in midland Road b4 they joined the pub a couple of months back. Sadly the standard of the food had declined.
I am not being mean just comparing it to the standard of food I eat often at the Kingsland Road Vietnamese restaurants.
L. L.
Super friendly local with the loveliest, most helpful staff. They usually have sports on but with good music playing instead of the TV noise which I really appreciate. The food is banging. Best vegan 'chicken' burger I've ever had and great roasts.
P. P.
Great place to watch sport in TV in a traditional pub
N. H.
Recently renovated (but not changed much) this an exceptional pub located at the north end of Leyton near Lea Bridge Road. The ambiance is classic London pub and the bar selection is top notch. They used to brew their own beer but I'm not sure if they still do. The garden is also very nice.
m. r.
Excellent burgers. Friendly atmosphere. A place to enjoy

Visit: 11 July 2018
The pub has been refurbished and its not been a disaster. They've made an effort not to scare off the 'old' crowd while attracting a more gentrified group (despite what I predicted in December!) with gastropub food and a wider selection of cask and keg beer.
Snooker table, screens for sport and a beer garden add the 'something for everyone' ambiance. Staff still very friendly and efficient.
Worth a visit if you'd been before and weren't so keen on the previous clientele.
December 2017: Very much a locals pub, it's not been gentrified and it is unlikely to be. A nice selection if Brodies beers (now brewed in Wales, not east London) as well as generic lagers.
Staff are friendly and efficient, regular clientele are 'rough around the edges' but preferable to the ones who think pubs are creches.
J.
This was my first visit since the pub was taken over, and while it's nice to see a shiny pool table and that use is being made of the brewery, I can't help but miss the vast range of Brodie's beers. The horseshoe bar seems underused as a result. Surprisingly quiet of a Saturday afternoon/evening when England are playing, but perhaps that's just because it was a friendly... Massive telly seems a decent replacement for the slightly sub-par projector and plenty of screens elsewhere.
D. T.
Great spot for good craft beer, watching football and lovely food (burger is amazing) with brilliant weekday deals. Lovely friendly staff, and patrons Live music on a weekend. Pool table. Open fire. Board games. Highly recommended
A. W.
This has always been my local and has a special place in my heart! I miss the Brodie beer and I also miss the price of the beers (probably why they had to sell). The new guys have done a lovely job of the decor and nice big tvs for the footie. My only gripe is the 4.70 you have to pay for a pint, otherwise it would be 5*
J. W.
Had a great time from the moment I arrived made to feel welcome, nothing too much trouble, everyone so friendly & warm. Beer that I tried fantastic, food equally as good. My 6 year old wants to go back now. Both of us felt happy & relaxed to walk back in after a long day dealing with fellow tourists & crowds. Thanks to everyone.
M. M.
I enjoyed my pint of Abbot.
j. f.
Great pub with a large selection of local beers and a friendly atmosphere
K. P. L.
Very nice place to sit and chill in the garden with a pint or two . It was raining on this day but we managed to get shelter eventually ! Needs more canopy for those rainy days ? 🤔💕💞💕🥰🥰😂🤩💖💗💟💝💓
M. G.
Microbrewery: from £3 a pint of the in house brewed extensive beer selection. Though they only have Strongbow on tap for cider.
Large projector for live sports.
Generally alternative music playlists.
Cheap and cheerful pub with traditional interior. Spacious.
N. K.
Very nice old pub with a good atmosphere, a huge selection of beers and very reasonably prices. Will definitely come back when in the area
C. H.
The 'IV' was always a great boozer. Then after the buyout I felt it lost its 'realness' but hoped this was just teething issues.... I am delighted that after several months of bedding in and finding out what Leyton really wants, the new owners have made the place homely, stepped up on the beer and wine choice (thank goodness!) and above all have found a fabulous kitchen team serving a really interesting and delicious menu that stands out from the usual 'east London pub' fare. When I moved to Leyton 4.5 years ago I yearned for a pub like this - a proper boozer with a mix of long-time locals and newbies like us all getting along, with great food. It has all of that and I am SO glad it's my local.
A. K.
Good selection of beer brewed on site, superb value. A traditional east end pub in both positive and negative ways. Looks a little run down, but the quality of the product and service make up for it
R. T.
Great big friendly local pub. Shows all the sports on big screens, has darts you can play and has lots of different ales on tap at a really good price. As proper local pubs go, its hard to knock it really!
A. W.
Great selection of beers, friendly staff and really good food. Have been plenty of times and have even hired the room at the back for a private party that was perfect for what we were after.
S. m. R.
Clearly the best pub in the whole world. Excellent atmosphere, great staff, and quality grub. I'd live there if I had the option.
L. L.
Great crossover pub. Blends the traditional (sport, pool table, reasonable beer prices etc) with the contemporary (lovely IPAs, good food, good wine) perfectly.
C. H.
Perhaps the most noteworthy feature of this unassuming Leyton treasure is that the regulars don't care that it brew's some of Britain's best loved craft ales, it remains their local pub. A friend of mine had traveled many miles to visit the home of one of his favourite beers and was amazed that the old boys at the bar were drinking big brand lagers.
Living close by, personally I hope that it never attracts the crowds that so many pub / breweries do. However, that is me being selfish and although I feel I should point out that the food menu is limited, the beers on offer more than warrant a visit.
G. S.
So nice to be in an old London hotel. Good atmosphere. Years of history.
T. R.
Lovely pub, very reasonably priced and big screens for sport.
L. H.
GBG recommended pub. Decent range of beers and unusual food (tortillas with various fillings, burgers, plenty veg choices), restaurant tables toward rear of long main room. Pool table up front. Varied customers, young, old, local, newcomers, etc.
P. P.
Went to this pub for the first time on Saturday and can only say I’m gutted we didn’t find it sooner! Great, cheap drinks, lovely food and importantly a proper pub atmosphere! Excited to visit again (tomorrow night!)
C. J.
Seriously great pub. Wide range of own brewed Brodie's Beer. There is something for every beer lovers tastes.
Great place to watch the football in a relaxed crowd.
D. P.
Local boozer with an amazing selection of ales but little options on wine or lager. The background music is a radio station with adverts. A bit of love and attention could turn this into a fantastic venue.
J. B.
Beautifully done up pub with a proper history to it and they brew all their own beers. Not a modern trendy craft beer type place but proper old school and very working class. A real rarity, be sure to check it out
R. P.
Went here for a christmas lunch with a group of friends this weekend. Food was delicious - staff were so helpful and accommodating - dressed the table really nicely with xmas stuff - crackers etc - really generous portions esp for the kids - and great value. Highly recommend.
H. Z.
Nice place with great pub and cool beer. The room was very clean. Miles is a cool guy, and customers make an terrific "astmosphere". Not so far from London by tube, or buses. Recommended...
J. T.
Cheery place with a nice atmosphere and a lovely selection of ciders. Make sure to get some snacks and kick back for a lovely game. Classic pub experience in Walthamstow.
s. b.
A classic boozer that has all walks of life passing through. Brodie's brewery used to be out the back and hopefully it will return after the refurbishments. Don't worry the interior of the pub will never change I hope and Brodie's beers still always available on cask and keg
J. L. D.
Really good service and food, got there a bit late and even then we recieved a warming and nice service, food came quick and was delicious. If you like a spicy challenge try the Death Wings! 100% will come back.
G. T.
What a quality place fantastic beer unique great traditional food good atmosphere non threatening
D. J. B.
Pre refurb this was a gem with speciality Brodie’s beers. It’s hard on the new owners to compete with that and as expected, they have opened a respectable and decent, but now very common gastro-esque pub.
P. B.
Quiet Local with home brewed beers at a very reasonable price, but all a bit samey. Proper old fashioned boozer thats well worth a visit. Cheers!
I. A.
Really good pub. Big screen in the front room to watch sport and a quieter big room towards the back if you're not arsed. Really good beer selection too.
S.
Good beer, football takes priority when it's a big match and has the feel of a proper pub that hasn't forgotten its routes despite being updated Chicken burger was excellent
M. D. I. B.
Proper pub great people my New local 💯🍻
R. C.
Has its own range of ales. Worth it just for that. Good proper drinking pub.
T. B.
What a fantastic pub! Lovely food and great atmosphere
E.
Nice traditional pub with a good selection of beers and ales. Pool game, beer garden, nice pub grub, children welcome. Quiet during the week.
C. H.
Easily some of the best beer I've ever had in my life. The place has a charm to it, a good selection, and friendly staff.
J. L. D.
What a great experience.
We were a party of 6 and got there when the kitchen was almost closed, however they happily offered us a seat and the food and service were just simply amazing.
El Food Brothers is in charge of their catering and I can honestly say it's probably the best "dirty" food I've had in London I'm 6 years.
Value for money plus happy and attentive staff. What else can you ask for?
M. N.
A rare east London pub that serves its own great brewed beer, but without the portentousness of many others in the area.
D. R.
Great place to watch football. Friendly bunch not matter what you're team
F. C.
Great place good customer service 👌👍
K. T.
Sometimes it is hard to book at William IV Bar and Hotel specially during weekends. I believe a lot of people wanted to experience the great service that I experienced which is why this is crowded during weekends.
This pub is one of the best pub in London, not only because of their great service but also because they are not that expensive.
E. O.
Such a lovely pub, friendly staff and good vibes. A leyton gem.
L. G.
Fantastic Beer from Brodie's micro brewery next door. Amazing friendly staff. A true oasis for a serious hop botanist.
Truly worth a pilgrimage!
k. w.
Best to go with live band on ..saw Fleetwood Mac Tribute act ...you get a good pint of Guinness and real ale
A. N.
Hidden gem of the east side that I hope will never sell out. Great microbrewery that creates excellent beers for very cheap prices.
When the kitchen is open the food is good value and even vego friendly.
The beers are excellent! They create a lot so you need to prepare to try a lot of beer.
H. 8.
Nice atmosphere. Friendly landlord. Massive screens showing different sports games. Bit pricey though.
C. H.
Good beer selection. Football always on. Wouldn't take family though
R. W.
Fantastic old school pub with a great brewery at the back.
M. H.
Table service on first day of sitting inside!
Very well looked after indeed!
M. G.
Great selection of beer, super friendly staff and great music. A chat with Aggy is a must, she's amazing!
L. S.
Down to earth old fashioned east end pub. Big screen football was on and very busy. Big area outside seating in the sun.
T. S.
Excellent pub with pool table and room out the back at the end of the garden. Great for kids during the day
P. R.
Went in for one pint and stayed for four... Really liked it was a mix of locals and newcomers .very friendly local and was a great Sunday evening out.
s. k.
Very good pub! (I don't use words like excellent, fabulous, fantastic)
E. “.
Went there during holidays for a good beer and got 2 awesome ones together with astonishing live music barkeeper knows his drinks and did awesome recommendations
J. M.
New owners give them more time, but going in the right direction. But please get rid of the pool table, nothing but trouble.
g. k.
Probably the best ales, and best value ales, in London. Beautiful old pub as well.
D. H.
Traditional local pub, family orientated with a wide range of beers and spirits.
A. C.
It's one of few left on our streets in the wake of cheap 🍺 attack from super stores. Love the hospitality and old traditional set up and food they offer.
B. L.
You can have a nice pint and see most football games
F. D.
Good selection of beers and ciders, good atmosphere and friendly staff
M. G.
Had a lovely meal there.
J. S.
Proper pub with the surprising and welcome addition of a microbrewery in the back. Great for sports, and low prices for London.
C. O.
Excellent pint of stout in front of an open fire was warming on a cold and bitter day. And only £3!
R. F.
Great to watch the football!!
A. J.
Loverly juberley Oi Oi savaloy. Nice food and drink plus a nice vibe
J. H.
Correction: William The Fifth (star)
M. P.
Lovely food from el food brothers, nice pub, never too busy, lovely garden area at the back
B. A.
Caters for all sports.
TV screens in convenient and useful locations around the pub. Several sports can be viewed at the same time. Just ask and a sport can be yours.
Music selection innovative and eclective/knowledgable.
C. Z.
Perfect location for a weekend trip to London. Original English Pub with own brewery and great selection of typical English beers. A pint of Pale Ale is 2,70 £ and the food is also recommendable. The rooms are simple but clean and affordable. I will come back for my next trip to London. Warm regards from father and son from Germany (who brought the Mönchsambacher Lager) to the team of the William the IV.
R. C.
Really friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Definitely check out the Sunday roasts!
S. P.
Sensitive refurbishment - still a pretty traditional boozer, with friendly staff, great food and a pool table.
R. R.
Proper old school Victorian boozer, with Brodie's Brewery out the back. Love it
V. S.
It's a great pub and microbrewery, well worth a visit for good beer and company
Z. N.

Great local but no more . Closed one of the last East end pubs in the area. Sad.
D. C.
Great pub friendly staff ^ good beer 🍍

A real pub with normal prices. Breath of fresh are/fresh beer in a over priced hipstered out town called London.

Refurbishment is great and It still feels like the William the fourth. We were worried that it would lose it's character and it hasn't.
F. S.
The pub was very cold. Turn the heat up.

Excellent community pub.
Recently refurbished but not gentrified - attracting a diverse customer base, helping give it a rare atmosphere that feels welcoming and buzzy.
The food you see in the image below was a Sunday roast meat ‘mix’ containing lamb, beef, chicken & sausage and was up there with the best pub roast I’ve had.
