Reviews of Ye Old Cherry Tree Southgate

Lovely experience!
Really nice venue. We loved everything: super cosy environment, great decoration, good food and nice people. But the cherry on top of the cake was the excellent service provided by the waiter, Helena. She was so kind with us, did an excellent job and really made us feel very welcome :)
Д. Г.
Such a great first time experience!
Food was excellent, ambiance is lovely and so cozy and we was very well looked after by Helena who was simply the best, an actual star!
Thank you Cherry Tree for the great experience and greetings to Helena, we will be back soon!
T. H.
Love this place... Staff were rushed off their feet - one even done an extra shift!
Yet they were polite friendly and still attentive - customer service was way beyond what any decent patron would expect considering!
Lovely pub with a good 'building atmosphere'
Definitely pop in if your in the area!
A. H.
Nice pub. Plenty of space. Price for the drinks are average. Food is okay but could be better and the price. Maybe more options for the food menu. Apart from that all good
M. S.
Great great food and amazing servers. We got the very last table available so it was very busy. Because of that the food took a little longer than expected to come but the staff was really professional about it. Anyways the wait was worth it because the food was incredible and the place itself is truly beautiful and cozy. We just thought it was a lil pricey, but still amazing treat and it's great to have a place like this in the area.

I used to eat here a few years ago and the food has always been excellent. Large portions and good choice.Service is now back to being very good: our waiting staff were quietly attentive and professional. The layout of the restaurant includes some secluded tables and some in the open and the whole place was spotlessly clean.
I can't fault it and I will be dining there a lot.

Hello there, so we went to Ye Old Cherry Tree at Southgate with a few friends and we had a such tasty dinner there it was absolutely lovely and we had lovely service by Helena from The Czech Republic! Thank u a very much! I can only recommend it to all of you ♥️
E. S.
Fab place with great staff. Understanding with my son who has ASD. Food tasty and were glad to be returning customers following lockdown.
A. M.
Had Christmas Dinner with the family and 2 dogs on Christmas day 2021 excellent food and the staff were brilliant nothing was to much for them!! Highly recommended the Cherry Tree for good food and atmosphere!!

Family and I have been dining here for approximately a year and it’s our ‘go to’ pub for a relaxed meal. The pub has a charming and welcoming ambience throughout and is separated into beer garden, bar area and restaurant seating. The service is always great and efficient with a few consistently outstanding staff members..I will add their names in an edit when I get them.
Although the menu and wine menu are reduced post Covid opening, there are still options for all. Highly recommend the homemade lobster fish cakes.
Keep up the amazing work Ye Old Cherry Tree 🍽🌟

This is a lovely pub and restaurant, with a warm welcoming atmosphere. It has a large outside seating area some parts covered by gazebos. It has a large car park which is free once you enter your car registration on their monitoring system.
A. F.
This is under new management and they have changed the menu.
Unfortunately they had run out of one of the starters, my slow cooked beef was a bit tough which shouldn't have been the case, one of the other people said their dinner was cold and a further person who had chicken pie said that it was all pastry and not much chicken.
Plus they had no draft bitter.
J. C.
Couldn't have asked for a better dinning experience. The service was excellent and the food was great. Definitely will be returning next time I'm in London.
C. B.
The lady (a new employee) makes the visit fun and pleasant. The other bar chicks are rude, careless and more eager to get drunk themselves than making customer drunk. Having a pint themselves behind the bar doesn't look good, beside they were not very helpful. The lady, who just started there was very helpful even she was new to this place. Ye Olde Cherry Tree needs more of this kind of staff.
G. W.
Food good nice atmosphere. Very nice and helpful staff although they seemed a bit stretched. Think additional numbers of staff would be better
G. S.
Pub has a nice courtyard to sit in the sun with a drink, there's a covered area with tables as well as chairs out in the open.
We do have lunch here every so often, it's classic British pub food... roasts and such.
A. A.
Great food, atmosphere and service from our waitress Helena, I would return and recommend to friends and family, thank you.
d. n.
Would have been 5 stars, great friendly service, however did not receive exactly what I orderded for lunch, will definetly return and reccomend
P. B.
We haven't eaten here since Xmas Eve 2016 and drank here since January 2017, both experiences then we're mediocre at best.
We came today on Valentine' Day and OH WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!........The food was AMAZING!!!!.....I have not had better, scallops, steak, rack of lamb were perfection!!! For a pub at lunchtime I was shocked.
What absolutely topped our day though was our server, Stephen......he was totally attentive, completely knowledgeable about wines and also well read on Ye Old Cherry Tree's vast Gin and Whisky selection.
An absolute gastronomic gem in the backdrop of Southgate with at least one top class server......WILL BE BACK, OFTEN!!!!
V. G.
Always room to sit and pleasant ambiance. Rather hot and airless which was surprising as with Covid precautions places are usually kept more airy. Service is generally very slow.
K. D.
Lovely, lovely Sunday lunch in great surroundings. Food was delicious, and staff friendly. Great Christmas feel in these difficult times
P. C.
Went on Saturday night and sat in the restaurant. Was served by the lovely Evonna (eveonna? Sorry I can't spell) and had a great night. The food was fantastic and the service was even better. Definitely earned a repeat customer!!!
M. 4.
Lovely service, cosy atmosphere by the fireplace. I loved it! Definitely 'a more posh pub'! The large heated terrace is great for chilly days and evenings - great for smokers.
S. R.
Food was very good. Enjoyed it very much. Can get drinks if you want but I just had a soft drink as driving.
E. F.
We enjoyed good, friendly service at our Christmas lunch. The food was well presented but of variable quality.
S. T.
Cosy pub. Nice open fire place and traditional wooden beams. Food we had was pretty decent but they had some issues with desserts. The brownie we had was rock hard, they replaced it once we pointed this out and it was tasty. The chocolate tart we ordered took about 25 minutes to arrive and we had to chase them at the bar to bring it. Once we asked at the bar it arrived 1 minute later.
m. p.
Got the bones of a great pub. Can’t wait till it ages in a bit more. Quite helpful and pleasant staff.
C. B.
This pub was okay. The food was fine but not special. I’d happily go back for a Sunday roast if I was in the area but I wouldn’t travel for it. It’s exactly what you’d expect for an average Sunday pub roast lunch.
e. b.
Lovely, lovely, lovely..good food... Good outdoor bit.. Good parking. Dog friendly..Excellent staff.. Says it all really....
S. S.
Exquisite food, great quality & delicious! A lovely warm cosy area in The Library bar with an open fireplace & book shelves. Friendly service. 10/10
C. D.
I found it to be a bit dark and the side door was not open and I had to walk to the main door, I am disabled so it took some effort. The food was good and the staff are friendly.
L. W.
Wonderful Pub steeped in history with a stunning large garden and a friendly inviting atmosphere. As a Real Ale guy I’m impressed that they’ve managed to keep it online and flowing post pandemic something that other local pubs have failed to do. The staff are excellent, full of life and enthusiasm, clearly it’s a great place to work as well as drink. Thank you Cherry Tree!
a. l.
Very nice establishment with delicious food and very friendly and welcoming staff I would highly recommend and I will definitely come back again
S. A.
Staff were great, food was great, amazing service and will absolutely be returning again! Highly recommended. !!!
E. C.
Fantastic old pub with low, bowed ceilings and wooden baton beams on the walls. A great pub within easy reach of Southgate tube station on the northbound Piccadilly line. Very friendly and attentive staff with high quality drinks and excellent food. I highly recommend you visit this lovely pub.
D. P.
A pleasure to always come to the cherry tree Pub. I would recommend the house burger with oven cooked chips. The service is exceptional and I was served by Lisa & Beyonce who always make me feel so warm and welcomed. Recommend to anyone!
B. S.
Lovely garden area, excellent prices. The plant-based burger is superb - a rare feat!
Some of the staff walk around maskless so if you're shielding you should probably wait before coming here. Otherwise it's lovely
D. K.
Very popular pub with good-sized garden. Currently (June 2021) serving at tables only through an app that could definitely benefit from some decent UX work. A little undermanned too so service wasn't quick but waitress was very helpful in ridding the table of ants when asked (the ants were probably encouraged by leaving used plates and glasses there for too long, another result of too few waiting staff, perhaps?). Overall, pleasant place to sit and drink.
N. C.
Really good place to go for drink or food ! This pub is so different from the others! I like it 🙂there is lot of space to sit in or out
A. T.
Lovely staff, lovely place... Food not so great - at least the Sunday roast beef I had!
K. R.
Really lovely brunch menu catering for all tastes. Good atmosphere and friendly staff
P. C.
Lovely pub. Not a great beer selection but great service. Was served but by a beautiful barman by the name of "domdom". Lovely eyebrows. And better eyes. I could hardly contain myself when he came to the table. I was served the most exquisite "meat feast" pizza along side of Instagram ready shamrock ladden Guinness (poured by domdom himself). We sent our compliments to the chef. Thank you chef David. The rest of the team I'm sure was doing their part!! Will be back soon. Hungry and thirsty for more.

What a great pub. Good food. Great service. Lovely atmosphere and at reasonable prices. I would recommend a visit to my friends and family and I will definitely be coming back.
D. J.
Dont really do reviews, but I had a great steak in this warm and friendly pub last week and the service was fantastic. Next time I am in the area with family I will be back. really recommend
T. S.
Old style large English pub with low ceiling, beams visible. Nicely decorated and has a few quiet corners and lots of outside tables at the back yard. Collection of draft beers and nice pub food, not exceptional but reasonably priced.
B. G.
We sat outside due to Covid restrictions but we were under cover. I ordered a vegan burger and fries. My order came quickly and I really enjoyed it. The serving staff were very helpful and polite.
R. R.
Good food at a reasonable price. Very friendly service
E. D.
Great selection of drinks and Staff last night were really friendly and helpful. Will be back next time i'm back for a game. Thank you!
T. M.
Went for Friday drinks with the friends. We ordered with a guy with an iPad. He showed us how to download the order at table app. I was a little hesitant, but now I’m converted. Our drinks arrived 5 mins after ordering. The garden was busy and very well managed. We will definitely be coming back
J. H.
Friendly, obliging staff.
Well organised vis a vis covid regs.
Modest yet attractive menu; the plant based burger was very tasty.
My fellow diner had the lamb which was said to be very good too.
An enjoyable visit.
C. P.
A very warm atmosphere made by the staff and people. Simon the GM is exceptionally efficient in timing of drinks & food, coupled with his desire to make guests satisfied. Would recommend Ye Olde Cherry Tree to many.
C. S.
Very slow service the waitress did not seem to know what she was doing food was average
E. T.
Nice big garden and quick service. Quite a big range of dishes and drinks. A very nice place to visit in Enfield.
J. G.
we had a great experience at the cherry tree on our visit this week, Lucy looked after us with a full table experience, even though restrictions have been lifted we still got looked after table side much better then waiting to get served at the bar.
R. S.
Booked this for a special birthday (which they knew about). Had to wait 20 mins to be offered drinks, by 8pm they'd run out on a number of dishes and when we did order, had to wait nearly an hour for main course. Food was ok, but service was disappointing.
L. J.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you thank to the manager at the Cherry Tree for arranging a separate room so my family could celebrate my late sister's wake.
Could not have been more perfect.
Lovely surroundings, welcoming open fire and food and drink served by waiters.
Thank you so much.
I have recommend your pub to my friend for her late mother's wake.
K. W.
Food and service very good.
Too many people walking around with no masks.
When I spoke to a member of staff they said they could only police it so far.
I would have assumed not serving the would have been a good place to start, but I guess it comes down to money.
A. L.
We enjoyed out time in the Ye Old Cherry Tree. Food was good and same for the service. I will rate this 4 stars as the heating wasn't working outdoors and it was a chilly day... I believe they should be working especially when you know customers can't dine indoors.
S. P.
My friends and I booked a table of 12. We had two tables due to the covid restrictions. It’s was laid and setup perfectly. We have a little room on the side that even had curtains that we could close for privacy. We preplaced our order and the food came out quickly and very fresh. Overal a very enjoyable visit to the Ye Olde Cherry Tree. 12 very happy ladies. Thank you
N. C.
Beautiful cozy pub. Loved the lights and the atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff who followed the COVID guidelines in place. Fabulous garden and the food was amazing. Very tasty, very fresh and delicious. I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for a wonderful pub experience and meal. Thank you to the team.
M. C.
Very welcoming. A particular thanks to Mariana who sorted out a reservation bisdue.
R. m.
Nice old pub, great outside seating area. Was hit an miss though ordering drinks,In our birthday party group
C. B.
Verry good pub... when you enter you can feel the tradition and culture inside.... Love it
M. A.
Been over a year since I've been here, used to be my local and still the best! Great staff! Good prices! Nice food 😋👌
J. I.
Nice cheap local eatery, with outdoor seating. Food is great! Occasionally you get a few knobs visiting but other than that, great.
C. E.
Extremely helpful and friendly staff when I had lunch here today with a friend. The food was good (including a welcome extensive vegan menu) and the staff were efficient and friendly when serving it. However, the staff went well above and beyond when we had finished our meal. My friend experienced extreme difficulty in walking out of the pub, due to a long-standing medical condition which flared up badly. I asked one of the staff if she could assist me in supporting my friend while he tried to walk. She very willingly spent many minutes assisting us, and a colleague of hers also took my place when I went to get my car. Eventually with their wonderful help we managed to get my friend out to my car. We were very grateful indeed for all the help which the staff provided and the friendly and willing way in which they did this. Many thanks!
M. S.
The place was absolutely amazing. Great food and drinks. We were served by Lisa, who was so friendly and professional at the same time, not at one point did we feel like we were missing anything. Will definitely visit again. 10 out of 10
P. D.
Good homely cooked food and excellent venue.
L. “. C.
Love this place. I called up in the morning and managed to get a table booked for that night, really simple to do. When I arrived we were seated in a nice corner, the pub looks so lovely with the fairy lights. Nice outdoor seating area with heaters too.
M. P.
A lovely old pub with lots of space and a great fireplace. I came across it by accident as I was driving through the area and vowed to return. Very glad I did - swift service and quality food in decent portions! Proper dose of country pub!
S. M.
Lovely ambiance, friendly staff, very decent beer and good food. Cosy inside but spacious, and expansive beer garden
C. M.
After a walk in the beautiful winter sun we decided on the spur of the moment to eat here. With no reservation at 2pm we found a nice bar table and our roast sirloin meal was very good, the portions were generous and quality very good. Will definitely eat here again.
J. S.
Great place nice tranquil atmosphere with a great variety of beers wines and spirits and quality food.
E. C. G.
Nice staff. The fireplaces gives a sense of home, cosy and confort
M. L.
Disappointing. I had looked forward to my Christmas Day meal here for weeks but sadly it seemed that the pressure was just too great for the kitchen. The food wasn't all bad and indeed some of it (fillet steak) was excellent, but other dishes were very disappointing. As for the vegetarian options, (tomato and red pepper soup; nut roast 🙄) the less said the better!
I had anticipated a five-star experience but, very sadly, the best I can award is three ☹️
S. C.
Fantastic evening meal. Relaxed and chilled out in the garden. I would recommend downloading the app. It’s very easy and fast to use. We will be back
L. K.
Three stars for atmosphere, service, quality of food, but taken away 2 stars for price, taste and portion size. I had a calamari starter which was great and a duo of lamb for the main which could have been a bigger portion and used some seasoning. That was quite disappointing. My friend had the coconut chicken which looked the size of an appetizer. He was not impressed. I will be going back because the menu looks quite mouth watering but I hope the rest is better flavoured and more generously sized. Will report back.
D. R.
One of the best pub that I've ever been to. Lovely staff, very nice inside as well as a huge amazing back garden. Also has a parking where u don't need to pay as long as u register insinde.
W. M.
Had a fantastic dinner and drinks as a prize I had won. As usual they didn't disappoint food and service were 1st class can't wait to come again.
S. S.
Calamari is always delicious here, wish they had more fish options, there is fish and chips and salad with added prawns but a healthier main fish dish would be great
s. w.
Beautiful traditional English pub with a village feel
M. S.
Too small a menu it is the same menu for at least 3mounths little choice plenty of cheese dishes I don't eat cheese.sat in non smoking area table not far away someone lite up. Manager had words made no difference. Disappointing visit
A. S.
Beautiful place! Service was exceptional, really lovely staff. Food was ok, not sure I'd pay full price but we all enjoyed our meal with a voucher.
S. M. (.
A firm Family favourite for over 35 years. We have had many enjoyable meals, family gatherings and events here, especially over the past 10 years. Thank you for helping to create many fond memories, the latest being my nans 95th birthday today. Great food again as always and very friendly welcoming staff.
S. L.
I came here for a Sunday Roast and I loved it! The food was great, even had a dessert too. The only thing I was disappointed with is the fact that the menu didn't specify that the roast beef came with bacon wrapped stuffing. As I don't eat pork, I was a bit disappointed that this wasn't highlighted on the menu. It was only highlighted against Roast Turkey.
D. N. T.
Excellent service and very nice friendly service and embience.
V. S.
Had an amazing birthday here, the staff were lovely, especially Chloe who was so helpful and kind and helped a lot with drinks, photos, etc. The place had easy access and toilets for disabled and helped with bringing orders to the table. There was adequate social distancing and hand gel was readily available
m. c.
Nice pub with pleasant staff and ok food
H. Z.
I've been coming here for a while. The atmosphere here never disappoints - it's quite a large pub in a nice area, with plenty of outdoor seating.
The drinks variety here is good, and service is fast.
The only real downside is the restaurant. The staff are all nice, but over the past few months, they seem more and more stretched. The food is taking longer to be served, and it's disappointing to see that dishes sometimes to not come as they are described on the menu. Improve the restaurant, and you'll be back up to five stars.
D. B.
This is without doubt, one of the nicest looking pub, you could possibly visit. It dates back around 400 years or more, and still has an amazing amount of features, dating back to then. There are a great selection of drinks, and some nice ales. The food, is good but a bit on the pricey side. A massive plus is its very dog friendly indeed! The staff are very friendly and this is a wonderful place the family to visit. Plus a lovely homely open fire, when it gets chilly. Love this place.
S. G.
We had lunch in the garden. The food was very good as was the service, appropriately attentive but we were not rushed.
D. K.
The ambience is really nice here and there is good selection of drinks. It is calm and composed. The reason for the low rating is for the food. The steak I ordered came well undercooked for what I asked and even when it was sent to be recooked, it came in the same state, only warmer. The meat was very chewy also. So overall the eating experience was a let down.
R. B.
Went for a meal with friends over the Xmas break and was very disappointed with the food and general condition of the place. We had to send two starters back as they were uncooked, the rest of the food was average at best. It did seem that the staff were overwhelmed as there were piles of dirty glasses all over the bars. There was also no toilet paper in either the ladies or Gents toilets which just seems like neglect. Overall I don't think any of our party will want to risk it there again at least for a meal.
J. P.
Nice food, quite roomy inside.
M. A.
We ate lunch outside the pub today and the food and choice of drinks were both excellent. However, I can only give three stars because of the state of the outdoor area. There were cigarette butts littering the ground, the tables were dirty and decorated with flowerpots overflowing with more cigarette butts. Its such a pity as we found the appearance so off putting that we nearly left without ordering. If the garden area was more inviting, we would return regularly ,as the staff were friendly and we really enjoyed our lunch.
R. J.
Really friendly staff work there! They all polite and happy to help. Building itself so nice, as inside!
J. C.
Great afternoon spent at the cherry tree, menu was very very limited ...not much choice at all to be honest .. staff great very helpful ,we asked to move to a warmer placed table which we could without issue .
M. F.
I love this pub, outside tables are lovely in summer and inside is so cozy and warm as in winter time. Sunday roast is great!
I am not a big fan of how they serve food, most of the times it takes way too long and it has happened on so many occasions that the waiters just put the dish on the table and dissapeared and I had to walk around finding cutleries and sauce for myself, but the food itself is really nice and tasty.
P. B.
Lovely ambience food was good. We had Venison cooked well, wife had a chicken pie, really big and more importantly tasty, mother had fush and chips. Sweets were fine hence 4 stars. Service very good. Good 2 and a half hour's well spent
I. D.
We had dinner on a Thursday evening, and all 4 meals were delicious. Gammon Steak was thick and juicy with nice charring, Beef Rib was tender, Cod Loin with Lobster was delicious, and the kids Lasagne was rich and tasty and large enough for a hungry child. Years since we've been here but I will be back soon. Highly recommended.
a. b.
It was ok! I've been going in this pub on and off for about thirty years. It's a lovely old building, and that's the best bit.
Food is ok. Didn't have what we first ordered which was the veggie burgers. Our second choices were just average. I think it's trying to be a gastropub, but the food isn't really good enough, for the prices they charge.
The service, again is ok. Call me old fashioned but when being served I don't think being addressed as 'mate' is right. It was just all a bit too casual.
All in all just average I'm afraid, nothing special apart from the pub itself.
D. V.
The food is very good here and is worth 5 stars! My complements to the chief! However, the service from the waiting staff does not match up. Depending on who is on duty, sometimes you have good staff that are polite and very helpful. Other times, in my experience they have been rude. Tables are often reserved and just left for hours with no one using them. There should be a faster turn around for these tables, if there not used put someone on them so there not just left waiting around. Also, it can be very difficult when you come to pay your bill no one wants to take payment. We could have walked out many times and no one would have noticed.
A. B.
I went for leaving drinks with colleagues.
Atmosphere was beautiful.
Beers were delicious - don't remember which one I drunk - but it was a delicious Ale.
I had a burger, which was delicious too, soft brioche with very tasty burger wrapped in blue cheese melt and bacon... What could possibly go wrong.
On a sunny day, rear in London, this is a real treat and the seats outside are just perfect for beer and sunbathing.
Good crowd too and very friendly staff.
Liqueur selection limited.
D. K.
Friendly staff, great atmosphere, above average pub food. Delicious Haddock fish and really good home made burger. Definitely recommend it! 4 stars only because the grilled white plaice was not. Just a touch on the grill but rather oven cooked.
D. M.
Brilliant atmosphere, polite, experienced and courteous staff. Had the platters and where absolutely delicious and enough for 3 people. Definitely a good place to spend a night or lunch. Slightly overpriced on the majority of their items on menu but worth it.
M. C.
One of my fav pubs, great atmosphere, good food and really friendly staff
M. K.
Really nice, historic setting.
Sadly, rather lacklustre atmosphere, never really felt welcomed. No real interaction with the staff, they come across as a bit aloof.
The venue has a lot going for it, but it does become a bit of a pastiche as long as the atmosphere isn't there.
M. M.
The setting is nice and inside is cosy however the food really gets them down. Every time you go they never have most things on the menu available and some dishes we ordered were nice however others were almost inedible. Service is good however they really need to start ordering more stock and not saying oh sorry we don’t have this today. Happens everytime I’ve gone.
L. S.
We came without booking. The pizza was great. Definitely fresh made on site. I would recommend
a. c.
Lovely place. nice atmosphere. Safe and they following the covid rules. Welcoming and helpfully staff. I will recommend it to all my friends. Thank you so much for such a nice lunch !
R. B.
Lovely meal had by myself, wife and son on mother's day. Had booked cafe rouge round the corner, but due to shocking reception decide to leg it round to Ye Old Cherry Tree. Mmmm good decision. Great grub😉
Y.
The building has tonnes of character and charm or however you say that it's really old, which is a good thing in my books. Every other restaurant is new and the walls are smooth and the paint is even, this feels like a proper pub.
C. E.
We visited on Sunday lunchtime on 30 August.
The food was good, apart from the roast pork which was quite salty. My companion said that his cheescake didn't taste homemade.
However the service was very slow. And although the staff were friendly, it all took a long time.
The staff could have been more attentive. That said, we will still come back,
But improvements could be made.
P. F.
Such a lovely Pub!
We held my husband's surprise party here and the staff were amazing, they catered to all our needs and made sure we were well looked after. I would recommend this place to anyone for good food and amazing service.
B.
Excellent food just like homemade if your worried about eating out at the moment with all this covid-19 this pub takes it very seriously best social distancing and safety measures I have found. Piece of mind
P. T.
Barman looked at me strange when i asked for a note rather than £5 change in coins, not great service. Garden is nice and food was good however, not too long a wait on a really busy day. Some of the good beers were off when we went which is disappointing.
c.
We had our mum's wake at the Cherry Tree. Staff very friendly and helpful and the food was plentiful and very good. I asked for some vegan options and everyone who tried the vegan burgers and pizza really enjoyed them. I recommend this venue for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and good service for any events you may be planning.
C. H.
Original review below. Sadly have to remove a star for the SLOWWWWWW service. Food great, drinks great, but shouldn't have to wait 15 mins every time you go to the bar. Seem to be enough staff but poor processes. Such a shame to put a great big blot on a lovely pub.
This is a cracking pub, at least 4.5! Great food, good value, open fire, plenty of space, free parking (refund at bar) it's LOVELY!
L. G.
We had Christmas dinner with my workplace here. We were not very happy about the food steak was overcooked flavours were bland and presentation a bit poor. But if you just want to have some drinks it's a nice and cozy place to consider with a live fireplace and comfortable seating all around the bar.
L. B.
A friendly local pub, has a cosy yet exciting atmosphere! Both indoors and outdoors. I notice a vibrant range of people of all ages, coming to this pub, drinks are reasonably priced, where as the food is a little expensive, but worth it in the long run.
It has an available car park, take note to register at the bar, there is also a travelodge next door to the pub, which may come in hand.
H. M.
Had a fab lunch. Used the app that was super simple. The outside is delightful. Thank you Simon for fitting us in

Kids meals wasn't great. Sausages smelt a bit off. No attention given to gin cocktail and was made quickly with none of the promised trimmings. But the roast was nice.
E. C.
Bit noisy inside for my aging parents, although they usually love the place as it's very accessible. My veggie burger with sweet potato fries was ok, but mum's hunters chicken was tough, and dad's salmon was burnt on top, with too much underneath it for him (hard to please).
R. M.
A nice spacious pub with food and drink. Also has a nice beer garden for them summer nights and is also located right next to a travel lodge so if it gets a bit to much then you could always put your feet up. I would say its perfect for birthdays or dates or in fact in occasion.
G. J.
Lovely old pub but food was disappointing. The last few times I visited the pub the food wasn't so good. The waitresses were excellent and personable. Made you feel very welcome shame the cooking has gone down hill. I used to enjoy a Sunday or a mid week treat. Now I just pop in for a drink when in the vicinity.
C. B.
No beers on hand pumps, no Guiness even. Only one hard-pressed lad, doing his best, serving. Shame, as I like to call in here with my wife couple of times a week, but this is happening too often.
Since Covid staff trying hard and generally improved.
M. M.
Excellent service and good quality food. Well done guys for keeping such a high standards in the situation like this! Will be back soon, just keep it going! Cheers
S. P.
Lovely food and good service. Had a very pleasant Sunday afternoon.
T.
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere.
P. R.
Clean friendly service!
Lovely big beer garden, and dog friendly- added bonus!
P. K.
Food and decor were very good. The menu was interesting, children were well catered for. Had to wait 10 minutes for our booked table to be ready, but apart from that service was also very good, with all staff friendly and efficient. Will definitely return.
A. W.
Nice relaxed pub with good beer and food options and really friendly staff. The only slight drawback is having to remember to keep putting your registration number into their system to avoid getting a parking ticket - I forgot and went a few minutes over before remembering so I'm waiting to see if I get a fine, which slightly took the edge off the evening.
Update - Thanks for the helpy response. I don't think I will get a fine because I did enter my reg. before I left. I think the staff member who explained it was new and now I understand the system it makes more sense. I will certainly be back as I think it's probably the best place to socialise in the area. Thanks again for making it a great evening.
K. D.
Such a lovely spot. Really great place to hang in a cosy atmosphere with some of your favourite locals and their pooches.
Loved the food, great meals for vegetarians as well as meat lovers.
Enough wine to choose from and really friendly staff.
R. M.
Scott at the Cherry Tree is one of the best this pub has had for years. We have been coming to this pub for years, and his customer service is second to none. What an asset! And thank you for helping us in a time of need! (Purse incident!) highly recommend after a few years of average service, Scott has turned the place around.
P. M.
Really good food and atmosphere. Good potion of food which was piping hot.
Covid19 safety is 5 star. Felt comfortable with the covid rules that were implemented

A charming 18th century former coaching inn with a large garden/seating area, roaring fire in the winter, stripped floors, original beams & chesterfields. The pub is situated at The Green in Palmers Green, a lovely area & easily accessible by bus & rail. This pub should be a success as it has very little local competition. The pub is part of the Vintage Inn group & as such some of the product is very familiar. I am a bitter drinker & on this Sunday lunchtime the selection was good, 4 to 5 ales including Hobgoblin, Adnams Ghostship, St Austel Proper Job etc. Keg, wines & spirits plentiful. I had Hobgoblin which was tasty & well kept. The pub would I guess class it's self as a 'gastro' pub with an extensive set menu and specials. Our table had (starter range) baked Portobello mushrooms with cheese, Callamari & main, Cod, chips & peas, all were plentiful, cooked to a good standard & tasty. 'London' prices, but in no way extortionate. The service on this attendance was efficient & courteous. As this is the closest pub to my daughter & her partner I am pleased to say that this establishment has 'pulled it's socks up' & I presume it is under new management. Keep up the good work, a year ago my review would sadly have been a negative one.
S. C.
Food was yummy & the price was decent. Only downfall is the staff could have been more attentive and ladies toilets could've been cleaner. However due to the amazing food, I'd definitely revisit!
j. b.
Had the scallops to start and roast rib of beef. Scallops were average, but the beef was good. Service average. We had to ask for more drinks and fresh cutlery. Noone asked how our meal was.
N. M.
Nice pub on Southgate green. Very historic though thoroughly remodelled. Has a small hotel attached to it as well. The restaurant has been very changeable over the years but has been pretty good for the last few years. Nice outdoor seating area.
P. M.
Christmas Eve lunch was made even nicer by a lovly friendly waitress who had the atitude of nothing was too much trouble.
Main course of roast beef with potatoes, youkshire pudding, greens and lovely beef. It all tasted great and just the right size portion.
We ordered crumble and were told it was apple and blackberry. But we were served rhubarb and when we pointed out the error, the waitress sorted it and 10 minutes later we had tge right piping hot crumble and custard.
The restaurant was reasonably full with families, kids a few dogs ( all well behaved ), but tge staff were aways attentive.
K. O.
This is a particularly quaint, old a English pub. It seems small from the outside but has a deceptively large interior.
It has lovely nooks and crannies, with traditional wooden beams. I would describe it as 'cosy'.
I was there on a cold winter's night and it had open fires down, which made it particularly festive. Though beware it's such an old building that it is unlikely to be well insulated. As such, you should expect the odd cold draught. However, that is part of the ambience at this location.
I arrived after Christmas and they had runout of fish and also steak. There had been no delivery. This seems to be par for the course here at this time of year, given some other reviews.
However, the menu is plentiful and the selection varied. My guests and I were able to find alternative food choices. The food arrived piping hot and perfectly cooked. It was delicious and tasty.
The prices are reasonable, but don't expect it to be 'cheap'. It's definitely a nice location to go for a beer or something to eat, but watch out with the food supplies over the festive period.
C. S.
Really nice pub. Working in Southgate there are few decent pub options, unless you're willing to brave the Wetherspoons. A short walk away in the village, this is definitely new local from work. Will be back regularly!
Food was nice, not expensive and big portions.
g. m.
Meals and drinks ok. service very slow. meal orders sent out wrong. three course meal took from 3pm to 6pm long time between courses need trained staff not youngsters serving. I'm a chef I would be ashamed if I took this long to get out meals
T.
great experience today, was looked after by Lucy, great pint and bit of food. We will be back !
C. C.
Nice oldie worldly pub with beams, good food, large car park & lots of outside tables. Part of large group so usually good service too. I like & I'm fussy - gotta have character & this pub has it... Mostly
M. S.
Thank you for looking after me on such a difficult day. Excellent choice of beers and wines and spirits. I don't drink but my friends had a good time drinking various stuff and I enjoyed relaxing after a hard day. Cheers. Mitesh.
E. T.
Lovely pub, friendly staff and food was incredible! Will defiantly be coming back!
C. R.
Lovely food, nice ambiance but needs more staff service was quite slow. Dont let it stop you going it was lovely food
A. V.
Decent portions, food took a little too long to come and they didn’t have a few things on the menu that we wanted to order.
G. A.
I have been here many times and it has now become my regular. The atmosphere is great, quiz nights are good, and the food is nice. All in all a great pub.
P. O.
Decent food (special mention the lamb duo)at reasonable prices. Attentive service.
S.
I had a delicious lunch while catching up with friends. Lovely location and ample parking off street and onsite. Our waitress was very attentive.
L. W.
Lovely traditional feeling pub with friendly staff , excellent food and an open fire. It was my first visit but defiantly won't be my last the beer selection was good and prices reasonable.
D. S.
Cosy, atmospheric, Tudor pub. Lovely environment to hang out in. The menu could be improved with more quality vegetarian food. Also, a selection of craft beers would be welcome and an extra start would be given if Sierra Nevada would be on tap.
A. A.
A cosy place especially at winter with a roaring fireplace.
Love spending time with friends and I love their friendly service and the liquor selection.
The food on offer is extremely tasty.
I love the outdoor seating especially aduring summer times as is a fantastic place to hang out with friends.
W. A.
What can I say about this place absolutely amazing Scott the landlord is amazing also and couldn't do enough for us on the 16/11/19 our daughter's 18th birthday party. The food was out of this world as well i would recommend to anyone. Thank you Scott
p. 1.
It's a lovely pub to get away from it all. Very friendly staff and I'm going to spend lots more time here. Its so nice on a sunday afternoon to have a pint and relax. Although on Saturday night it is more for teenagers.
P. W.
I had a friend near Ye Old Cherry Tree and would sometimes arrange to meet there. Though frequently very busy, the pub usually has a quiet corner. I only once had decant up the road to the Café Rouge. Food is mid priced. Generous portions of superior pub grub. Im a cider drinker and usually ended up with a nicely chilled Aspels. If coming by bus the 121 comes this way. The pub has its own bus stop.
A. S.
Fantastic bar / restaurant, one of my favourites in London. Fantastic, chilled and very very high quality food and drink. Plus a gorgeous lit outdoor area If you're in the area, you must visit.
L. L. c.
Fabulous day at Ye old Cherry Tree, Simon and his staff really know how to look after their guests!
Will be back soon!
P. C.
Enjoyed a lovely evening celebrating a 60th birthday Saturday 24th November. Staff very obliging and nothing too much trouble. AND the most excellent customer service - couldn't ask for more. Thank you Scott.
S. H.
Not bad Sunday lunch, a little smaller than expected
K. F.
Lovely pub, full of character and sharing an important place in local history. Good food and drink. Friendly staff. Good place for a quiet meet OR for a party night out.
D. N.
A new wonderful discovery, fantastic menus and staff
K. B.
The food was alright ish the guys on the bar were a bit lost at times but very helpful. 5 starts for the service we got Zane and Alesha your are wonderful guys 😊
R. P.
Their chicken pie and chips is a staple for us, sometime you just fancy pie and chips, and this is where we come, it’s always the same and always great. Loved our waiter today, thanks for the cheery service David.
S. A.
The main meal was ok but the wait for survice was far too long and we did have to cancel our dessert order in the end. Disappointing as the pub is lovely.
M. S.
Nice pub with massive beer garden. Food is average and drinks are reasonably priced. Pay and display car park however all money payed for parking is refunded to you at the bar.
M. B.
This place has a bit of a monopoly in the local area, so not much impetus to change/improve. It's generally OK, but can be severely understaffed at busy times. Suffers from a bit of an identity crisis - is it a ye olde country pub, a food driven 'dining pub' or a trendy place for the kids to hang out? As it is, it makes a passable attempt at all three! :)
d. r.
Nice pub that seems to cater mostly for the residents of the adjoining motel. Good selection of drinks and food but the veg looked like it had been kept warm for a week!
E. W.
A lovely pub very popular with the locals - especially in summer when the beer garden will be rammed! If its a sunday roast you are after make sure you book ahead to avoid dissapointment. Its only fault is being too popular.
K. B.
Stunning pub, it is literally the best place to go in Southgate and where I take anyone who is new to the area. Delicious food, lovely beer garden and amazing staff. Special mention to Scott and Iwona who were so accommodating this weekend.
M. M.
It's beautiful pub
S. S.
Love the atmosphere of this old pub and still retains originality of olde worlde charm. Food is reasonably priced and service is nice. Generally a good place for chilling out !
p.
Great service with a tasty meal. Didnt have to wait long and the steak was cooked perfectly
L. P.
Lisa delivered excellent service. The food was top notch. Would definitely go again. Was completely won over
H. W.
I L❤VE THIS PLACE!!! The service was great and the food was delightful. They accepted me for me and that was all that I ask from a fine dining restaurant! Thanks to Ye Olde Cherry Tree, me and my stomach can be happy!!!
E. N.
Love that place. You can take your dog with you and enjoy your evening.
M. S.
The Ye Olde Cherry Tree is a cozy pub in Southgate with a lovely log fire and warming food. It is definitely more of a winter evening pub but with the British weather we find ourselves popping in from September through to June!! The beer garden is small but has heaters and large umbrellas. Plenty of parking and a lovely restaurant as well as more pubby feel. Lots of beers on tap and lovely wines!
P. B.
Nice food, nice drink (some surprisingly cheap, some surprisingly expensive), slightly shambolic service today, but this is not always the case.
P. M.
Really nice cosy pub with log fire. Food was good and staff were attentive
C. D.
Excellent menu with good prices, nice outdoor space. Food service could be a little quicker but overall an enjoyable experience
R. B.
Just had an enjoyable lunch at the Cherry Tree. The meal was good & the staff friendly & efficient. We will definitely go there again.
D. P.
Good food n beer great staff too
K. K.
Nice location and beautiful pub, but the management is outrageous! They are always running out of beer and food options, and sometimes they are a bit rude to their customers.
s. p.
Lovely relaxed, country feel to venue.Excellent, prompt service. Comfy surroundings and furnishings, decent pub grub.Outdoor area well maintained, great local.
P. H.
Fairly quiet for a late lunch mid week and food was good, lot's of adverts for Fathers Day but I would think it may get a little busy that day from reports elsewhere.
A. G.
Busy buzzy lovely old pub, serving food and drinks all day. Service it's not too good when they are busy, specially at weekends but nevertheless it's a good place to meet friends and family
j. k.
Firstly.. GiGi Iwona and Chef David thank you so much for your service and accommodating my somewhat strange preferences... as always service is impecable.. customer care outstanding.. and food is luscious.. thanks all.. keep up the great work..
j. E.
Delicious food in delightful atmosphere. Good service.
A. B.
We had our staff Christmas meal here...they were very accommodating, the food was of good quality, serving staff were pleasant. Would recommend!
S. W.
Very dog friendly. Good food. Nice, cold beer. Helpful staff
n. f.
It's a pleasant old pub with a nice garden, it could be great, but the beer selection is not very good at all which is a shame.
A. J.
My favorite Ye Old Cherry Tree. Always good quality ales, food is good. Service is excellent. It's kept clean as well which many could learn from
B. R.
We had travelled from Bedfordshire to see family. It was decided to go to the Cherry Tree. We asked for a table for 6 and was told nothing was available but that we could sit in the bar area. At that time there was nobody in the restaurant!!!
Food very slow to arrive and only fair.
K. A.
All round lovely pub with all services rated 5*. Very large outdoor space and car park.
C. T.
My food was ok but my girl actually complained about the mash. I think the mash has been mixed with some cooked/old oil which tasted horrible.
A. W.
Brilliant Sunday roast in a wonderful old style pub. It had a large outdoor space, perfect for hanging out in the sunshine.
T. K.
It's a reasonably comfortable and friendly place to have a drink but there's not a great beer selection and the service can be a bit slow.
S.
Lovely pub in the Southgate area. Great service. Lively food and great selection of drinks! Great place to get a drink maybe after visiting Christ Church Southgate, which is just a 5 minutes walk away!
T. t.
My first visit and it was a wow food was amazing staff very friendly the pub is beautiful thank you for good service and making me feel very welcome.
S. S.
Good Food Good Beer and good service with plenty of parking but you do have to register your car when you park
E. C.
Another "Vintage Inns" pub with a decent food menu with traditional English pub food. A large outdoor seating area is great for the summer, and the indoor area is large enough that it doesn't feel crowded.
T.
Lovely Cosy environment very good helpful staff I definitely recommend this pub been coming for years now! Will keep going as much as possible.
C. S.
Hey its me nick, luke, alex, george we are the ones who sit at the back of the garden all the time and we came here to say that we miss you and no other pub is the same :(((((.
E. C.
Bit noisy inside for my aging parents, although they usually love the place as it's very accessible. My veggie burger with sweet potato fries was ok, but mum's hunters chicken was tough, and dad's salmon was burnt on top, with too much underneath it for him (hard to please).
M. D.
Love this place I have been coming here for 10 years no matter where I go I always come back here .
B. W.
It's a very nice pub in very nice part of Southgate had a very nice lunch with my walking football friends good selection of beers

D. S.
A lovely old pub with a great atmosphere and a wide range of beer.
A.
Big pub. Not sure if it's really old or just made to look old. Food was ok but wouldn't say great. Drinks were reasonably priced.
N. M.
Great service, lovely atmosphere and delicious food; what more could you want? We also received a free Easter Egg! ☺
P. C. B.

S. P.
Absolutely fantastic experience. Great food and service with a smile. Love it
K. F.
I really the service of Helena Odvarkova
A. M.
No napkins with the food served. Had to get the napkins and cutlery myself to take out into the garden. Also parents not looking after their kids in garden. Letting them run around throwing stones from garden floor at each other....
P. D.
This is a big pub, staff all ok, a great place for a quiet drink or to bring your family as there is loads of space outside.
N. W.

A chain pub (owned by Vintage Inns); does a good line in food, though the range of cask ales is a little small (just three on my visit).
N. K.
Fabulous birthday meal.
R. A.
Nice pub off the Green in Southgate. It also has a Travelodge behind it. Outdoor seating and plenty of small areas inside for groups to sit in.
G. S.
Mostly fun staff, reasonable food for a reasonable price, rarely too busy, but no more free parking in the carpark. Park on the public road along side for free.
A. M.
Good food, service a bit slow but it suited the mood we were in.
A. R.
Lovely little place enjoyed it every time I've been only thing is they don't do cocktails
S. W.
Nice pub, great food!

Lovely pub, delicious food, friendly staff who went out of their way to start the fireplace for us.

Unfortunately There Was a funeral party on and the menu was limited. What we had was cheap and tasted cheap. Not impressed.

Nice building, but still a generic corporate pub with no real character. Still, worth going if close by and fancy a pint.
