Reviews of Ye Olde Watling
D. T.
A fine olde pub built by local builder Sir Christopher Wren when he had a day off from working on the old cathedral down the road, the road being Watling Street with all its Roman connotations. Timbers from salty old battleships feature extensively. It is a lovely place with a fine offering of ales. Seven cask ales on offer! in these post? Plague times, well done. There is also plenty of variety from the kegs and wines galore for the grape lovers. All served with a smile by the efficient friendly staff. What could you not like. A delightful visit.

❤️ Pubs and history, two parts of British culture which are accessible to the masses. @yeoldewatlinglondon is a great place to visit if you want to sample a bit of both. The current pub was rebuilt in 1668 after the great fire of London by Sir Christopher Wren and has survived to this day for us all to enjoy. The pub is just a short walk from Mansion House tube and sits next to the atmospheric Bow Lane and within sight of St Pauls Cathedral. This pub is full of character and charm with it’s blackened beams low ceiling and the odd nook and cranny. The present incumbent is @nicholsonspubs and they are doing a sterling job maintaining the values of what makes the British Pub a world famous institution. The Mrs and I decided to have a bit of grub while we were here and really enjoyed it, the portions were hearty and the food was reasonably priced. A big shout out to the girl who served us, she was very personable, attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
.
Historic Pubs are unique places where the doors are always open and you won’t need a pass or ticket to get in. Ye Olde Watling is steeped in London history and a decent London boozer. This is a must visit London Pub.

This pub is lovely. I came with a group of work mates. And the service was excellent, had one amazing girl working on her own called Shardonnay. Her service was amazing even when it got tough she made sure each customer had a pleasant time. I HOPE she gets the recognition she deserves. Definitely be back because of the experience
J. D.
Nice pub. Usually too busy to be bothered with, but on this occasion was a good choice.
Decent ales, standard pub food, and friendly staff.
A. M.
Nice pub in the City, close to Cannon Street. Smallish bar area but more seating round the back. Great selection of beers. Service was good
M. A.
It’s such a cool pub! They don’t put loud music so you can have decent conversation. Staff are so helpful. Really impressed.
R. N.
Nice old school pub. Good selection of beers and staff who seem like they're having fun (I worked in pubs/bars and can tell the difference between "service" and a team who likes working there).
Lots of old world charm and space for people to spill outside in the evenings.
Always busy which speaks for itself.
S. S.
Amazing venue with a lot of character and history. Has been my local for many years. Always good beer and staff is always helpful, especially the likes of Ella :-)
D. R.
From Ireland and came to visit the pub for the first time and must say had an amazing experience , love the team ! Especially Chardonnay and annie Will be be back to have a conversation with these lovely pair of girls they gave me a nice welcome
S. B.
Superb pub in the city. One of the classics with the bar shelf outside too which is great to have a drink in the fresh air or summer days. Recommended. No complaints here at all
B. K.
Nice little pub, friendly staff and decent range of beers.
J. G.
Enjoyable experience, wandered in at random. Not 5 stars coz the Nachos were meh but I ate them all and some Xmas decorations were up!..but staff were attentive, clean loos, beer OK TOP TIP...download the app, register and get a pint for a QUID! I was there on a Monday lunch time so it wasn't too crowded.
A. T.
A nice city pub, with very fast service, and proper old pub atmosphere. The staff were very attentive, and prices are reasonable. Tucked away from the main road, but well worth a visit.

Ye olde watling
Ye olde watling, a lovely welcoming place!
The food is Amazing, specially the bar snacks like Hollumi fries and Loaded chips. The team provides excellent service 👌! I hope they will be Recognised by the company for their hard work every day working in Masks, which is must be very very difficult!
Love for the team!🥂🍾 for Fliss, George, Monica, Michelle and Kim

Nice pub, lovely food and staff. Specially Luca, the hungarian girl. friendly and professional. Was a great experience. I ll defo comeback
A.
Nice pub. But that's it. Considering the location and its history I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.
S. “. F.
A cracking pub and some good choices of ales appears a well run ship. Had a good night in there with friends and deffo be back in when next in the area ... Cheers
S. F.
I was in this pub a couple of weeks ago with some friends, we had a really lovely evening in the dining room. Our hostess Hope was really helpful and professional, she gave us some great advice on drinks, in particular the gin selection. We will definitely be back!
K. S.
Lovely friendly bar staff, dresses up wonderfully for Halloween. Highly recommended... good selection of ales and ciders too...very quirky.
B. D.
Historic City pub, reasonable beer and good food. I had the cod goujons with tartare sauce. More than a snack not quite a meal but filled the gap. I would happily go back again.
A. B.
Superb welcome, proper Britain pub food, and tasty beers in a pub with history. Sir Christopher Wren designed St Paul's Cathedral from the room upstairs, and many of the workers slept in the basement during construction.
K. D.
First of all, what a charming wonderful place for a drink and to watch the football. Felt really homely in the little back room around the bar.
Our hostess was Kim and she really impressed us with how friendly and attentive she was. She was very busy tonight running around but made us feel very welcome nonetheless. We felt well looked after and the steak pie and the chicken burger were very tasty too!
Prices were expensive to middling but worth it for the friendly service and the comfy tables in the back.
We'll be back!
M.
Had a brilliant night here with a couple mates. Views of St. Paul’s and all. Good ale and lager selection.
G.
Classic London Nicholsons London pub. More seating than it appears from outside and their normal good menu of Pub Grub. Actually on Watling Street and a popular post-work stopping off place for City types.
0.
A city classic, if you really want to learn the pub feeling of london in a lifted but classic way thats the place to go. Many beer types, soccer in the back and talking chaps around you. If you find yourself thirsty for a guinness and a shot the old school way as it has been before the pandemic, you get the feeling of normality back!
A. R.
Lovely pub on Watling Street Cheapside child friendly good bar snacks good atmosphere. Plenty of history about the Salvage Core.
J. B.
Loved it on my first visit last week.
Great pub, staff and assortment of drinks.
D. S.
Historic pub in pedestrianised alleyways, so great for warm weather outside drinking.
A corner location with lots of windows makes it great for people watching and brings natural light to the dark interior. Main bar and dining room (additional seating) on the ground floor with separate dining room (which can be hired out) upstairs. Beware - the stairs to the basement toilets are steep!!!
Ales and craft beers are plentiful and well kept, with frequent guest beers. Food is traditional pub grub - big portions but tasty.
Can get really busy but definitely worth a visit.

BEST PUB IN LONDON.
Whenever I'm in the City of London area, I make sure to pop in for some food and drink.
The food is excellent, and there's a wide variety of drinks available to choose from.
The staff and management are always so friendly and welcoming, especially Lee!
I've been in quite a few times since re-opening and I have always felt safe and comfortable - very covid compliant.
B. F.
All the lovely ladies, especially new Annie giving brilliant service at this lovely pub !! 10/10 recommend !!!
R. C.
A bit off the beaten path, this pub had lovely overstuffed chairs, enjoyable food, and a very relaxed atmosphere. It seemed to have a lot of locals, which was a nice change of pace from the tourist filled areas. This was probably my most enjoyable dining experience since it was sit-down, reasonably priced (not cheap, but not the insane rates of tourist traps), and just comfortable. Really made me toy with the idea of opening a similar venue in the states one day- it was that good.
G. A.
Ana is awesome! Mixes the gin and tonic as good as she pulls the ale. Friendly and welcoming. Yay Ana!!
G. N.
Best Whisky in town! Ask for Ottavio if you want one
D. H.
Such a hidden gem. Their bar snack menu is fantastic. The staff so friendly. A really lovely pub slightly off the beaten track.
N. K.
The staff were really friendly and well prepared for us to feel safe while we enjoyed ourselves. Overall it is a very lovely pub with a great selection of Gins and an even greater atmosphere. Will definitely stop by again when in the area :)
D. C.
Lovely little atmospheric pub close to St Paul’s Cathedral in London. They serve food, with focus being on all sorts of English sausages. We didn’t eat on this occasion, but the food served to others looked incredible. I would like to revisit at a later date to try the food for myself. Inside, the bar and dining room re cosy and clean. Toilets are down in the basement, so not accessible to those who cannot manage stairs. I didn’t think to check if there were facilities elsewhere.
S. X.
Worth it for the history, and a good mix of people always around. Never empty but you can always get served. Ideal
M. R.
Awesome place! Loved their food, great prices. You can tell only locals eat here.
H. S.
Food and staff were amazing. A really friendly pub atmosphere with well kept beer! Will visit again.
D. P.
What a great pub. Last time I was here was about 15 years ago. Working back in London now and popped in.
Fab atmosphere, great service by Monica and Donte and the team. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon of service and great ales and food. All the best as we all come out of lockdown.

Brilliant old pub. Great range of beers. Love it
K. E.
Wide range of ales.
Genuine British dishes.
Nice atmosphere.
... and open on Sundays when everything else is closed in the City of London.
Affordable.

It's England v Scotland. We are in London and the Jocks are everywhere....in their kilts. Nice traditional pub....short measures on the Peroni's.....nothing new for London!! Good looking menu but we are saving ourselves for decent restaurant food later on....
L. D.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, lovely food and decent choice of drinks! Just what you need after a long day in the office. Place also comes with good old character and plenty of history. Always a nice touch.
B. H.
LOVELY PUB with lovely service
Had a great time celebrating Spain's win tonight :)
Thanks to Kim and to Monica - both efficient and super friendly and quick. I felt very confident in the Covid compliance in the pub and we were warmly greeted and asked to do track and trace.
Only a star knocked off because of the beam blocking the TV a bit when I said I wanted to watch the footy! & the lack of ale selection even though they were advertising over 5 beers. I was happy with my doombar in the end though.
Very shocked to see some customers coming into the pub clearly very drunk already and being rude when the manager said she wasn't going to serve them. The ladies working there deserve better.
The Watling rocks!
A. L.
Great little pub i always end up in when I go to the city and its dog friendly! staff always helpful and the manager is very funny. Worth a visit after work or if you are touring the city. It’s near St. Paul’s.
E. J.
Lovely old pub, good food and drink, great bar staff. Well worth a visit . Situated near St. Pauls.

Excellent service from Anna at the bar, and couldn't fault the Xmas display, happy Halloween all!

L. F.
Good atmosphere, good food and drink prices was quite reasonable.
H. S.
Food and staff were amazing. A really friendly pub atmosphere with well kept beer! Will visit again.
L. B.
Lovely old pub if a bit on the cramped side.
T. P.
Staff were nice and beer was good, can see St Paul's from outside too
R. K.
Such a nice experience! Ana was amazing!
G. D. (.
Good atmosphere in the pub. A fair selection of beers and spirits. The owners are always accommodating for football and rugby. That is a rare sight to do both. We book tables fir the rugby and are always welcomed. High quality food. My only criticism is the toilets.
S. R.
One of the best pubs in the city.
Will definitely be back very soon!
C. W.
Good old style London city pub with a good choice of proper beer. If you're hungry they do a nice line of pies, but we did not eat so don't know how good. Probably worth a try and it's wonderfully old London.
G. M.
Great little pub , real nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
J. B.
Great pub...rammed would never know Covid existed that night...
P. J.
Me and a couple of friends were looking for some where to eat until we stumble across this Pub. Excellent service, great variety of drinks and delicious food. I will be coming back! Thank you ana and Kimberly? (Sorry Not very good with names)
L. F.
Good atmosphere, good food and drink prices was quite reasonable.
M. B.
Is a welcome change from all the chains that surround this pub. In a delightful part of London on the outskirts of the City close to St Paul's. There is seating on a back room if you can't find a place to sit in the front. Had a pint and a toastie with chips, all very good. If I get the chance I will go back.
C. E.
Was great especially when cars thought it would be a good idea to drive through the narrow street with 200 people
L. B.
We are so pleased you are open again! Snacks were delicious and the whole team were very COVID conscious with a clean safe environment (How odd that feels to say about a pub..!) Take a peak and enjoy yourself
T. P.
Staff were nice and beer was good, can see St Paul's from outside too
F. D.
Very cosy pub with lovely staff a nd great food.
P. K.
Food was very good, as was the service. I enjoyed a steak and ale pie. My wife, who knows good food and doesn't give complements easily, said the mashed potatoes with horseradish were the best potatoes she's ever had. Beer selection included a good stout (rare in London right now). The whiskey selection was moderately sized but contained some great choices like Roe and Co and Copper Dog.
L. G.
Very cute, very old fabulous early evening buzz.
A. M.
Amazing service on my visit this Saturday! Great location and really friendly staff, as they helped me to choose from their wide range of beers. I guess their names were Jola and Kim. Strongly recommend! ☀️
D. R.
Probably the cleanest pub in London. Every surface was gleaming, a credit to the team. Beer selection was good (I had Ghost Ship), friendly service. A great looking, very old, traditional pub. Well worth a drink.
A. B.
Good place for a stop and 5 tapas for £24
J. L.
You have to try the gin here, and they have plenty of options as well as your usual pub classics. Great place for an afterwork, or if you need to chill somewhere!
J. W.
No service. Nice building. Pub food ok.
G. W.
Great service and selection of Ales, probably the best view of St Paul's you are going to get with a pint in your hand
G. S.
Can’t fault this one! Good place for a quick lunch pub but basic food, seating area is a bit small upstairs, best to book early in the morning if Thursday or Friday. 4 stars well deserved.
V. S.
Lovely City pub with ample seating inside and plenty of standing room on the outside for when the weather is nice. We ordered dinner there and the staff were friendly and efficient. The food was fresh and nicely prepared. I ordered salmon which was perfectly cooked and the portion size was just right. My husband, who is 6'6" and loves his burgers, ordered the cheeseburger and was shocked at the size of it when it arrived. It took up nearly the whole plate and he couldn't finish it, which is truly a first! Despite the huge portion, he did really enjoy it and said that it was very tasty. The prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed with a nice mix of age groups. We went there on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too busy, as you would expect for a City pub. I would definitely go back.
D. G.
Lovely little pub. Very busy, full of mostly city workers drowning their sorrows after a terrible days work whilst telling everyone how amazing their life actually is. Bar manager is a true champ 🤓 I ordered a large glass of wine and the thing he did with the wine measure & the wine glass was like a magicians trick, only better. Keep up the good work champ
L.
Cosy pub just down the road from St. Paul's. Lovely selection of beers and cask ales, friendly staff 👍
C. R.
Good old fashioned City pub. Got some associated history for the tourists. I don't drink beers or lagers any more but always seems to have good selection on draught or tap including some "guest" ones. Reasonable wine list. If you like sausages and or pies give it a try.
L. S.
Lovely pub ! Ana did a perfect service !
A. M.
It was my first time coming here and I had an amazing experience and had a really fun time. The customer service was also really good especially from Jola and Reece as they was very kind and talkative. I will definitely be coming back!
D. J.
Great pub and a better burger, best eaten with the smoky salsa. The thought of the Nicholson's burger is a challenging one.
Stopped in for lunch by chance on a Saturday, staff were busy but were all smiles and helpful. Enjoyed it.
O. R.
Classic London pub, quick service and good beers
r. k.
Good service and the team did a great job of keeping everyone safe during the England game. Thank you, will be back for sure.
J. F.
Good enough city bar. Very busy in the week, quite expensive for drinks (>£5 a pint) but typical for the area. Lots of.space to stand and drink outside in the streets which is great when the weather is nice as it has a good atmosphere
C. B.
A City favourite. An old established pub once part of the studio of Sir Christopher Wren! Excellent food and drink all year round. Look out for the hot gin in the winter! Good service, but can be very very busy during the week.
T. A.
Beautiful old pub behind St Paul's Cathedral.
g. i.
Excellent fish and chips in this pub, dog friendly and brilliant service from Monica. Very nice city pub.
R. H.
Fantastic pub, service always spot on and well kept beers
J. G.
Lovely staff, helpful and friendly despite being busy, good food which was reasonably priced (for London).
Downstairs felt like a good "olde-London" place to get a drink and upstairs had a small bar with tables and chairs were we ate, with various fun facts as decorations to provide interest on the walls!
M. O.
Nice historic small pub. Good range of beer, well kept. Didn't eat so can't rate that aspect. Busy but the staff were good so you didn't wait long to be served.
p. h.
The after-work place to be if you work around St Pauls. Very friendly staff, well poured pints (good variiety of beers as well) and just the perfect location. Can't wait to chew the fat with my colleagues after all of this is over
R. H.
Good old fashioned pub. Friendly staff and good choice of beers.
k. v.
Great city location next to St. Paul's, friendly staff with a good selection of beers and ales.
L. S.
Been coming to this pub for 4 years, never fails to impress. Always has a good buzz during the week with a relaxed atmosphere at the weekends. The dining room upstairs is charming and the selection of real ale is second to none
J. A. B.
Great beer selection, always very busy. On a mostly pedestrianised street so good for smokers standing outside. Very capable / efficient staff. Easy to recommended although not if you want to sit down
K. B.
We had a lovely late lunch here on the day of the marathon during the Olympics so the bar was heaving. The food was served quickly at a very reasonable price and delicious (I can highly recommend the burgers - farm style not rubber). The choice on the menu was good too, although being a City pub, didn't cater for children. We got around this problem by ordering an adult meal and an extra plate which the staff were more than happy to accomodate us with.
The toilets were down steep stairs but were clean.
L. W.
Great after work vibe here for after work drinks. People spill out onto the streets to make the most of the summer rays. Good selection of draft beers, ciders and wine compared to many other places in the City.
R. x.
It was amazing lovely , great vibes for me and the family. Amazing service from Reece and Donna , they welcomed me with open arms and were very efficient.
I’ll be back next week.
Y. Y.
This place is so amazing. The staff are the prettiest, kind, caring people I have ever met.
The only downside was the an old barmaid was standing at the end of the bar with green hair....apart from the service, food and experience was perfect !!! 5 stars !!
R. K.
Such a nice experience! Ana was amazing!
D. B.
A pub where Christopher Wren used to work.
J. E.
So olde. So good
M. K.
Great selection of ales and gin, always smiling staff, truly recommend.
S. E.
Good range of rotating beers for a city pub and a cost back room for those winter nights. Very popular during the summer with crowds on the streets making the most of the weather. Service can be slow at busy times with the small bar
B. S.
What a wonderful venue. Chris was so accommodating, we set up a group part for my dear old mum, she used to work around the area in the 50’s.
Chris couldn’t be better, he sectioned off and area for us and gave us a waiter to help carry out the food and drinks.
I honestly couldn’t recommend the place enough.
D. T.
Visited Ye Old Watling, great little pub, measures in place for Covid, Friendly Staff and more importantly a Great Pint.. What more could you want on a scorching Monday!...
P. P.
A smallish old pub with authentic character and drinking often outside on the cobbled streets.
They have loads of staff on busy days, and serve their customers faster than any other place around. Really good service.
A. M.
Excellent pub in the shadow of St Paul’s cathedral. Superb food and a really good variety of drinks. Be warned it can get busy with the post-work city crowd, but that’s half the fun isn’t it?
M. B.
This is in the Nicolson pub chain who have recently added the vegan 'Beyond Meat' burger to their menu.
It comes with a salad and I accompanied it with a bottle of Bulmers. V good for lunchtime
They also do a range of pies here but the vegan option is a root veg pie. I'll stick to the burger!
R. D.
Very friendly staff. Tasty dishes (as well main dish as desserts), with good size so that you're sure you're not going out of here hungry. Totally recommended if you're looking for comfortable atmosphere !
K. D.
Warmly welcomed by the team, they provide great service in a lovely atmosphere. My favourite thing on the menu is the dirty chips paired with a gin from their wide selection.
C. B. E.
Great little traditional pub
D. B.
Good solid Nicholson's pub tucked away down a little alley street. Very Olde world feel to it but with a good selection of beers on offer. Worth taking a visitor too who might be new to London.
L.
Great pub !! Really friendly staff and very quick service. Would come back anytime :-)
I. B.
Still one of my favourite pubs in the city. And the last time I was there in Jan 2018 I was served by some very switched on bar staff despite the fact it was quite busy. Well done ladies and gentlemen!
P. B.
Decent after-work City boozer. Spills on to the quaint cobbled street outside. A fair amount of people on any giving day making for a decent atmosphere. Decent selection of beer on tap too.
J. H.
Had lunch again at this lovely historic pub. Varied menu, very reasonable, friendly staff who were able to get our menus adapted a little. Highly recommended.
C. W.
Great traditional pub, probably the best view in the city when standing outside. Always a great beer selection and very quick service compared to any other pub in the area.
Z.
Historic boozer in the City on Watling Street. Quite small inside but space outside to drink a pint. In the winter there are outdoor electric heaters for some warmth.
T.
Just your classic london pub, great selection of largest and ales. People all out on the street having a drink after work. There is also a room at the back if you need an after work meeting place.
R. A.
Good pub which had a nice vibe in the evening
j. h.
Great food, great atmosphere, great staff.
This is the key to a successful business and this place does it very well.
I don't have much more to say than keep up the good work to the Watling team.
D. P.
Great place to chat and drink, although a bit crowded on a Thursday after work , but I guess is the same in any old London pub. Like the atmosphere and spirit of the bar, which brings you back to old days.
L. A. d. L.
A great place for an after work drink. Most customers are city workers and has a lively ambience. View of St Paul's from outside the pub is stunning
k. k. s. c.
I love this place. It's a little bit out of the way, close to St Paul's, and can get busy around 6pm. But it's friendly and there is an excellent range of drinks on offer.
C. D.
If you like to escape the hustle, bustle and crowds of tourists by wondering around the City of London at weekends, then this is the perfect place to stop for a peaceful, laid-pack pint (just don't get caught out by the early closing time!). Cosy, low ceiling, timber beams, good beer selection.
C. W.
Best pub in the city 😎 Great beer selection that changes everyday. Friendly staff and an amazing atmosphere. Always busy, shows how good it is.
D. D.
Lovely old pub with excellent food. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, just round the corner from St Paul's.
R. A.
Great choice of cask ales! The food is also better then the average pub food. Toad in the hole, though it wasn’t traditional implementation, was really good.
C. W.
Traditional style pub with good mix of English and continental bottled beers. Plus point being in a pedestrianised area you can stand outside with a drink if the small interior gets too crowded
M. H.
Great atmosphere, very welcoming staff and a good selection of all sorts of drinks. Food was lovely. Most pleased we decided to stop by.
J. C.
Lovely original pub, good range of real ales and lagers for those that don't appreciate. Not badly priced for London! Highly recommend.
T. D.
Best/quickest bar service in London. Nice boozer, specialising in serving its customers draught beers, as opposed to poncy bottles or cocktails.
D. H. (.
A friendly feel to this place despite being in the centre of London and full of suits... perhaps as a result of the fine selection of ales and proximity to a small (old school) church. PS there is actually nothing religious about this place.
P. N.
Now this is a good pub, effecient bar staff, good selection of beers and nice sausages! Does get busy weekday evenings but has quite a chilled vibe at weekends.
E. B.
Very friendly pub, nice atmosphere.
A. G.
Nicholson's pub, we ordered a selection of small platters that was very nice. The service was really fast and efficient, although the bar started to get quite crowded.
T. C.
A pretty fun place to hang out with friends and have a few drinks whilst standing on the old cobled streets which run alongside the Olde Watling pub. Wander inside however and you'll be greeted by the smell of sweat and many an evenings stale beer soaked into the pubs carpet floor. Be careful not to talk too loudly alongside the barber shop next door, its owner is liberal with the use of 'Oi, I'm trying to run a business here!' types of mediocre outrage.
M. L.
Nice pub with a good selection of ales. Very busy during the week but pretty quiet at the weekend. I haven't tried the food.
S. K.
Great selection of ales including some local brews. Quite a small pub so it gets very busy. Good bustling atmosphere.
H. C.
The hunter’s chicken is the best plate I have ever had in a pub for this price. The pub has a nice vintage look. Love it!!
K. U.
Traditional pub in the City. Busy at lunch time and after work till around 7.30. After that the city workers go home and the place quietens down a lot.
Drinks selection is just the standard pub stuff.
P. L.
Very pleasant city centre pub, interesting menu with a wide range of small dishes you can mix and match.Prices for the area seemed reasonable.
2. J.
Monica great bar mate and wonderful service and friendly with professional attitude.
Thx

Nice enough pub near St Paul's. Decent selection of ales. Serves standard pub food, but never ate here.
F. W.
Found out surprisingly it is the legendary architect Christopher Wren's studio in the past when he was building the St Paul's cathedral. Service is excellent and the pie is great.
S. S.
Lovely traditional old pub. Gets very busy after work, but great if you can grab a table out back.
S. S.
Cramped 17th century pub full of history. The relatively small back room has quite a few tables squeezed in, but what should be much more of interest is that this was none other than Christopher Wren's drawing room while he was designing the nearby St Paul's Cathedral! London will be a sadder place if places like this are ever lost.
M. L.
This neat place saved us from wandering London streets hungry on a Sunday noon (it looks like getting a lunch in London around noon on Sunday is a matter of knowing where 😀) . We enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the service.
A. E.
Good pub. Quick wait at the bar and old fashioned decor. Pints are cheaper than most pubs in the area but still expensive.
R. D.
Excellent service, an great selection of Ales even in there trying time
X. _.
Had a great time.
Service was fast and all the staff were lovely.
M. H.
Outstanding old school pub, with fantastic beers and food to match served by an amazing team. Highly recommend!!
E. K. B.
Beautiful old building with a lot of fascinating history, well worth a visit. As pubs go it's a decent Nicholson's pub, good for a very pleasant evening as always.
a. b.
Wonderful historical pub in the heart of the city. Welcoming staff. Great pint of Guinness.
K. G.
It's a decent London boozer but gets packed and you end up having to drink outside. Bonus that you can drink outside. Negative that you nearly have to drink outside and its like -1 in London in Feb.
D. T.
Love this pub but only down fall is how very busy it gets and time to get a good pint.
R. W.
Actually quite a decent pub when not rammed with post work drinkers. They have a good selection of beer and staff that seem to know what they are doing.
R. B.
Tasty fish and chips and prawns and chips. Beer selection is adequate. The history of the place alone makes it worth a visit.
K.
Standard traditional pub. Bit small inside but most stand outside depending on the weather. Accepts card payment. Too small to offer food.
A. G.
This Bow Lane pub attracts a large after-work crowd. The drinks and food a are on point, if not especially remarkable, and service is prompt and polite. If you're looking a drink in the city and a great atmosphere on a weekday, you could do a lot worse.
J. r.
Visited twice in 2 weeks. Last night place was extremely busy (5pm Friday night) but the staff were fantastic. Waited no longer than 2 minutes to be served
S. S.
Best pub around St Paul's, great selection of beers and IPA's and a lovely outside bit near a graveside 😉
G. K.
Great traditional pub
J. Z.
Decent food, good selection of beers. And a nice atmosphere. The service was very friendly
S. W.
Would have been five stars if they had retained the pool table. Great pint of London Pride.
C. H.
If you want to sit down with your drink on a Friday after work. Go upstairs here. There are always free tables because people assume it's just for dining
R. A.
A great little Nicholson's pubs with well kept and rotating beer for a pub in the city, it's pedestrianised out the front meaning there is plenty of place to stand and enjoy a pint.
H. H.
Fairly standard British pub - good for after work drinks and standing outside on warner days. Decent beer selection.
D.
Amazing selection of ales, fantastic gin selection too! Amazing staff and service. Spotless pub.
J. E.
Excellent pub, great beer. Bit crowded inside but plenty of space on the street.
A. C.
Big after work crowd here, very popular with city workers for its large range of beers, ales and excellent pub food. Expect crowds spilling out onto the street
D. T.
Very nice little pub, good beer selection and decent food
R. N.
It is an excellent pub at the heart of City of London. One of the oldest pubs in London with fantastic friendly and professional staff.
N. D.
Nice little pub with very old traditional interior! Defo worth to go for a pint!

Tucked away behind St Paul’s. A gem of a pub, truely excellent staff, well kept beer & although gets very busy you get served very quickly.

A little slice of old English pub, seems to have thankfully resisted the urge to "modernise" in favour of polite staff and a good selection of drinks
P. S.
