Reviews of The Moody Mare
A.
Good choice of food on the menu.
Restaurant was a bit too chilly for out liking (behind the bar)
Good selection of gluten free options, and the staff were very friendly.
Starter, main and dessert, plus a drink each was £75, so not bad.
👍

Lovely quaint pub with fantastic service. Inside it’s oldy worldy but really lovely, and with two separate outdoor areas, one with childrens playground and wooden huts, and the other with huge tipi, it’s a special place indeed. We ate out in the tipi area which was heated and really lovely. Staff couldn’t be more friendly and attentive and food was really nice. Only criticism is that the menu was a bit lacking and could be improved, although food still was lovely. Will be back again soon.

An amazing evening, hygiene levels to the highest, very unique as per pictures (one is of the gents) staff 100% amazing, food I would give 80% to but still well worth going with family, ( children annotated)

Birthday Celebrations at The Moody Mare. Hired venue for special birthday. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate. Family & friends had a fabulous evening, great music and the buffet food was superb, compliments to the chef(s). Jennifer and everyone working that evening looked after us so well. Very attentive. Would highly recommend. Thank you so much for making my birthday complete!
J. T.
Really great place. Friendly and welcoming. Huge selection of drinks. Menu had something for everyone. Roast dinner was amazing! Really enjoyed the roast beef and all the trimmings. The vegetable selection (red cabbage, cauliflower cheese and mixed veg) was delicious (especially the red cabbage!). Puddings were the summer fruit cheesecake with ice cream and apple crumble with custard. Will definitely go back to eat there and absolutely recommend it.

Managed to book a table for Sat eve at relatively short notice. Warmly greeted on arrival then a very pleasant surprise as my partner and I were walked into a new part of this establishment - a huge tented area that was lit up and very impressive. I ordered the duck, leek and orange spring roll for starter - really great and loved the combination of spice and citrus flavours, main course was the pork loin off the specials menu - again was really good as was the mixed Berry cheesecake dessert. Sadly my partner was not so lucky - the halloumi burger was average and the chunky chips marginally undercooked. The apple crumble she ordered was more crumble than apple and again just average. The waiting staff seemed to have given up by 8.45pm and seemed to want to go home. So - a tale of two meals, one excellent, one less so, great ambience in the tented area and service a little awry towards the end.

Excellent setting, first class food and service. Lovely warm environment in the teepee out the back and topped off with a local choir joining in with the live singer to sing Christmas songs. Thanks for enhancing my birthday celebrations 🎉🎉🎄🍻🎂

Visited on a Saturday lunch time and had pre booked. Lovely friendly staff, cheerful and as helpful as they could be whilst being rushed off their feet. Although it was our first time visiting we felt like valued customers, even the dogs were made welcome. The food was divine, there was absolutely nothing that I could fault. Fresh, hot and exquisitely cooked. Minor blip was the wait time but as they had a big party in and were short of staff they did their very best and were genuinely apologetic for any delay. Can't wait to go back. We are going to try a Sunday next time for the roast.
D. K.
Fantastic countryside pub with absolutely amazing food. Will go back again and again for the Cote de Boeuf...

Lovely food and service - all the staff extra friendly and helpful. We went early evening on a Friday as we had young children with us, seated inside the tipees (which are gorgeous!) and after our meal went outside to the play area. There's so many different seating areas inside and out, it's deceptively large.
The garden gets great sun in the afternoon but the tipee is the place to be! There was music due to start around 8pm - we'd definitely revisit and stay later as just a couple.

My wife and I often stop for dinner on a Thursday evening and have never been disappointed.
Service is good, staff always friendly, Nicole works hard to ensure everything is fine and the menu is regularly updated.
M. H.
Excellent service and food with some very generous servings. The sharing board in particular for 4 people went down an absolute treat (no pictures as it disappeared quickly!) highly recommended. Felt very safe with the social distancing between tables. Nice added bonus that the pub was dog friendly as well. Will be return after lockdown part 2 for sure!
E. C.
Really nice pub/restaurant. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely.
M. G.
Stunning gastro pub in a quiet area. The Tipi's are lovely! Entering them from the main pub building is like being transported to a fantasy land. They're beautiful and huge but they're cosy and warm.
S. W.
Lovely meal here, nice to have live music too. Only drawbacks, quite chilly in the teepee, but were kindly provided with a blanket, also only part of carpark de iced. Was frightened I was going to slip.
M. P.
Lovely food and staff. However; sat at table in far end and it was freezing. Sitting at home with a blanket and hot water bottle trying to get warm again.
D. B.
I always enjoy this place, especially cause of the back tent...but the pub itself its nice as well and the baked camembert it's just delicious here 😋
J. S.
We went here for mothers day. Were very impressed. The staff were very friendly and made sure we were looked after. No waiting at all, drinks arrived within 5 minutes of ordering them. When the food arrived it was piping hot and on time. Considering it was from the set menu extremely tasty too. Would definately recommend a visit. We will be going back very soon to try out an evening meal. My mum had a great day.
H. C.
We sat in the Tipi, was really clean and tables spaces out nicely.
As soon as someone left the tables where cleared and staff have face covering on when they come close to your tables for food service.
They check your temperature on arrival and there is hand sanitizer as you enter and exit.
D. C.
Warm, friendly staff are underestimated. The beautiful people of The Moody Mare cared for my every fussy need with a smile and chuckle.
The pub itself is unadulterated English countryside in decor. Grab a wooden pew, a familiar looking menu and go for something hearty. Familiarity will set in on the taste buds with each bite. With a little more focus you’ll find a subtle twist in the ingredients, which give the dishes a little signature e.g., the fresh strawberry with the Sticky Toffee Pudding and mint added to the creamy mussel sauce.
Price is spot on. Another excellent example of English pub grub.
P. L.
Great little pub serving excellent food. Small, but good choice of ales. Situated by a main road, but we did not hear any traffic noise inside.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Large car park, which is always a bonus. Toilets rather small but well maintained.and you dry yours hands on small towels/flannels which is a very nice touch.
D. K.
Great staff, lovd the way its decorated and the food was fantastic. I can highly recommend the Oxford cheeks, the were out of this world. Will definitely eat here again, and again.
R. H.
When we arrived it was 15 mins before they started lunch service on a Sunday. The gentleman behind the bar was a little bit rude to us. It was empty and when we asked if they served food now he said “yes but you can’t just sit down.... haven’t you ever been here before? It’s like our busiest day of the week”. Fair enough... we aren’t to know as there wasn’t a single customer in sight, and we didn’t even attempt to sit down. the way he spoke to us made us want to walk out, I think the guy working with him realised how rude he was and saw that we were going to leave & he saved the day. He was lovely to us (even found us a seat in the empty pub) and made us feel welcome.
The veggie roast was tasty & a great alternative to meat! Normally veggie roast is dull but they nailed it. The roast potatoes weren’t very crispy but that’s my only criticism. We also had fish with mash and veg and it was nice also.
Despite our strange entrance to the pub the other lovely guy saved the day and we had a tasty lunch.
It’s just a shame that the bar man was so strange and kind of rude to us. Maybe he was having a bad day.
L. L.
Really tasty, fresh food. Four of us dined tonight and everyone enjoyed their main and all four deserts were out of this world. The vanilla ice cream with coffee and amaretto was fantastic and we will definitely be returning. Staff very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the food being served. Clean facilities. Highly recommended.
S. Ś.
Absolutely great meal. The ribs are perfectly prepared. Sea bass perfectly fried served with vegetables, the taste of which struck me ..
J. H.
We have been here a few times now, and never had a bad meal or experience yet. Not saying we want to lol
The food always is on point and tastes really good, staff are really really nice and make it worthwhile going and we will keep going bad
Cons:- getting out the car park with people driving flat out towards you 😬😬😬
K. J.
Afternoon lunch at the Moody Mare. We were seated out in the heated tee pe, friendly staff, food was to die for, looking forward to returning for a Sunday roast.
A. R.
Fantastic food, especially the dry aged steaks and great service. We will be back soon!
D. H.
What a gorgeous experience.....beautiful restaurant and so quirky! Eating in a teepee!! Food lovely and service is exceptional! Special shout out to Jennifer who was attentive and indulgent! Thank you for a lovely night! Denise
A. B.
Lovely service, food was amazing as usual. Staff were attentive and helpful. We definitely recommend
D. J.
Came here for early dinner after a local walk. Really friendly staff. Food was fairly priced, tasted great and was generous portions. Had our dog with us who got a lot of intention by staff and customers. They even provided here a treat and an egg to enjoy. We are indoors but the outside area looked nice. Will come again soon when next in the area.
K. M.
Very nice main meal Gluten and dairy free.. but unfortunately from looking at the menu there seemed to be nothing gluten and dairy free except for Sorbet..
M. O.
Lovely venue, the Teepee extension of the Moodymare was great to use in the warm weather. Fantastic food and well kept ale. All good
R. D.
Warm welcome and very dog friendly, service want quick but wasn't slow either. Food was ok but nothing special, dearer than Wetherspoons but about the same quality. Would go again if passing but would go out of my way.
T. “. K.
Sat in the tipi. Service slow, especially for drinks, very disjointed service. Food not all bought to table together. Staff are nice. The setting in the tipi is nice
G. S.
Enjoyed lunch, very interesting setting in the tent but it had a great vibe good food and great service
S. P.
Came here recently and reminded me of the layout you will find at The Swan in West Malling. The outside canopy area is stunning, if you’ve been to either one of the restaurants then you will Love the other. The food was great and reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Plenty of parking too. Would definitely go again
D. P.
The burger was excellent. Not the full range of food on a Sunday in the garden though. Well worth a visit.
H. B.
Food and wine was very nice, was a birthday treat from a friend
Shame we were greeted by a member of staff behind the bar who told us we had not ticked the right box online, to sit outside… and it was basically our fault .. manner needs some work and customer centric focus!
J. N.
Food was over priced, they forgot to bring the chips out with the steak, forgot a child's dinner so we had to wait, food wasn't very hot, vegetables were under cooked.Such a shame a the venue was lovely ,staff are very young and service was a bit hit and miss but they were friendly
Disappointed as it had a 4:5 rating
P. R.
Very pleasant pub, the TR register for Triumph cars use it once a month.
Friendly staff and the food looks good, yet to sample !.
l. m.
Superb food, friendly staff, reasonably priced. Would highly recommend
C. L.
Superb pub and restaurant. Food is excellent with a great choice, happy to accommodate dietary needs and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff. Highly recommend.
W. C.
Pub with beautiful covered outdoor seating. Nice selection of different foods including Sunday lunch.
K. T.
Absolutely brilliant place, lovely atmosphere great food will definitely be going back
N. B.
Very good food, decent portions only downside was putting limes in an orange gin drink.
V. S.
Absolutely fabulous. The pub itself is a mix of old and new, with a beautiful garden area and an even more incredible teepee area. The food was excellent, they've got local beer on tap, and the staff were so friendly. Dog friendly, covid safe, immaculate toilets (with cloth hand towels, made me feel so fancy). Really worth a visit.
A. B.
We had our wedding reception here and we couldn't have asked for any more of the staff. Service and food were truly wonderful! Despite the snow, everything went perfectly and everyone had a brilliant night, a beautiful venue, with exceptionally helpful staff. Can't thank them enough for making our evening so special
V. 9.
Food was good and well spaced between servings, and nice environment. Felt welcomed throughout and very friendly staff. There was a 10% service fee which wasn't known at the time which is the reason for the four stars but don't let that deter you. (Hopefully they pay the lovely waiters and waitresses extra out of this service fee as service fees tends to inadvertently discourage tipping!)
B. B.
An okay experience. 15 mins to bring drinks to our table of 2. The waiting staff seemed somewhat disorganised. Food came very quickly though and was good. We sat in the teepee area, where the floor isn't level, as a consequence our plates were literally sliding off the table.
Not a bad experience at all, just nothing special.
J. E.
Really lovely looking restaurant and the food and staff was amazing would defo go back. The tipi is so beautiful to sit in and was very warm
j. r.
Friendly staff and lovely food. Only one very minor down side, no brown sauce. Great place, great people
T. W.
Good food don't rely on the menu on the Web page as it changes a lot
M. K.
I very rarely leave comments but the food, service and atmosphere I feel is so good I would highly recommend to everyone to visit
L. H. (.
This place was an awesome random find. The staff are friendly and skilled, the food was incredible!! The fish and chips were genuinely one of the best I've ever tasted. It's a great location, great look and feel. I'll definitely be coming back here.
M. B.
After visiting the moody mare very recently with friends I found it to be Excellent food. Excellent service and superb atmosphere and surroundings with the teepee tents as extension to the restaurant creating a wonderful ambience. Full credit to the management and staff for running a tight ship so to speak. Definitely recommend and
will be visit again

We booked based on the recommendation of a couple we got chatting to whilst out walking last weekend.
I'm so glad that we did. The food was exceptional 👌
Roast Beef cooked to perfection accompanied by a delicious selection of vegetables & handmade yorkshire pud.
K. S.
Went to or Sunday Lunch , lovely atmosphere , staff very good , food excellent . Just two of us , vedg served in a separate dish for us to share , 7 or 8 different ones and more than enough .
No room for dessert but home made apple pie looked lovely .
Asked for gravy to be served in a b0oat rather than on the plate , staff went the extra mile and made a boat complete with flags from tin foil.
After months of driving past and seeing car park full so glad we made it.
P. Z.
An excellent dining experience. During these unprecedented times we enjoyed a very safe and comfortable meal here. From our temperature taken on entry and all staff wearing masks, friendly welcome and well placed, socially distanced tables. We felt totally at ease throughout our meal. We particularly enjoyed the £30 off our meal as they are participating in the government scheme until the end of August. Service was perfect and attentive, waitresses knowledgeable and efficient. Food delicious and well presented. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Moody Mare to anyone looking for a reasonably priced meal, with great service.
L. M.
This was a really lovely pub. I've driven past it countless times and never realised it was there. It's a lot bigger than it looks from the outside and the tee-pee is very funky. We were temperature checked and given hand sanitizer on entrance and had excellent service throughout. The food was lovely and really well priced. I will definitely be visiting again.
A. W.
Amazing food and brilliant service
R. F.
Lovely meal. Nice surroundings and a decent pint.
What's not to like!
L. B.
Absolutely amazing place.
Fantastic service, staff were friendly and helpful and welcomed us in apon our arrival.
The new teepee in the garden is a beautiful setting.
Food was lovely my compliments certainly go to the chef.
Definitely gonna return here.
R. N.
Tipi dining was exceptional 👌very good food accompanied by a very good, friendly service. First time we had been so wasn't sure what to expect but can say we were very impressed from start to finish.
S. R.
Food...salmon, steaks...perfectly cooked and presented. Venue..very stylish..a vast marquee with lights leading to the centre pole. Comfy..and, as I am elderly and have a health problem, a fleecy blanket was provided. Staff all helpful, friendly, easy going and, nothing was too much.
S. P.
We went at lunchtime with my parents on their wedding anniversary , with a friendly atmosphere, we had the coq au vin and apple crumble for pudding which was lovely .
M. D.
First time we had eaten out since lockdown. I felt well looked after, had temperature checks and sat well away from other tables. Staff were pleasant and helpful, all masked and seemed to be following guidelines. I had been a little nervous but felt safe and even forgot about the virus for a while. Food was good too.
k. a.
Lovely pub, attractive traditional look from the outside. Inside the decor is a mix of old and modern but they go well together. The atmosphere is nice. It was busy but staff handled well. The food was nicely presented and very tasty. Prices were slightly higher than average but seemed appropriate. Overall a nice dining experience. Only one negative I could make is the car park could do with resurfacing, especially for those ladies who like to wear heels. Walking on large shingle wasn't easy lol.
J. O.
The pub looks amazing both inside and out, and they have done an amazing job with the Tipi outside seating. They are on point with covid safety and we were sat and served quickly. The food was great and the service topped it off. I can't wait to go back again
T. B.
Our first meal inside a restaurant, hand wash, temperature check as soon as you get to the door perfect, we felt completely safe. Food was very enjoyable, Cider went down very well. We had a brilliant time.
J. (.
Wonderful rural, dog friendly pub. Excellent beer gardens.
j. g.
Fabulous place great decor food very nice
P. P.
Great food and good selection of beer. They have done well in creating covid aware spaces and now they have a large capacity for functions and club meetings. They could just do with sone more staff but everyone there was working hard.
J. F.
Had a very enjoyable Valentine's Day dinner here. Good atmosphere, a very nice selection of options on the dedicated 5 course menu and all dishes were well cooked. The service was excellent throughout and they were particularly helpful to accommodate my wife's food intolerances. A great value evening and will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you.
S. P.
Elton John tribute act and dinner for two.
I have lived in the area for a year and meet a close friend for lunch here about once every month, service is always great and the staff always are keen to please.
Came here tonight with my husband, service warm and friendly as usual, food is always exceptionally good. I chose the pork belly main and scotch egg starter. He had the roast salmon. All dishes very fresh and tasty, large portions. Skipped pudding, just had floater coffees, but perfect amount for us.
Elton John tribute was really enjoyable, my husband never gets up to dance with me because he’s shy, but he did tonight. Great performer!
Very intimate pub with great staff and lovely food.
A diamond in seven mile lane 😊👍
Will return again and again.
d. m.
Dog friendly pub who provide a barrel of water on tap to fill up the four legged friends drinking bowls they provide. We had scampi and chips washed down with some cracking real ale at lunchtime. The tartare sauce was home made the scampi cooked to perfection and the chips some of the best I have tasted. I highly recommend this place.it's not fine dining but it's extremely good.
J. B.
Situated on a busy main road, it serves fresh, hot food prepared by great chef in a cheerful laid back environment. They take dogs, that's a big tick for me. Serve cocktails and as a free house lots of different beers. The staff are friendly, and the place is frequented by locals. The owner is often around. The interior is kept well appointed and looked after. It is always clean. The garden is well kept with lots of flowers.
The Car park is made of cinder type aggregate and beginning to get pot holes.
K. W.
Fabulous night at The Moody Mare!! The teepee is so lovely and beautifully decorated with a central log burning feature and toasting of marshmallows! (nice touches!!) 😄 Food and drinks delicious as always and really good value for money. The staff were amazing as ever and the social distancing and safety measures were impeccable. It was pretty busy and I can see why it is so popular. A truly lovely evening‼️ Well done to all 😄👍❤️
P. T.
Such an amazing place and amazing food!

In the middle of the Kent countryside, The Moody Mare is quaint in it's feel, sumptuous in flavor, and friendly with guests. The food was delicious, if on the bland side, but add a touch of hot sauce and it's perfect. When I sat in the restaurant, I found it quiet as I ate my meal, perfectly heated next to the stove, but be aware they do fill quickly.
Sadly I must give it 4 stars, instead of 5, because of the service. Despite being friendly, they are very inattentive and took far too long to get anything...and this was in a mostly empty restaurant, with enough staff to maintain a faster pace. I don't know if it was because the serves were young, but if so, give them a couple years and they will do just fine.
Still, even with th loss of 1 star, I get to tell you this place is worth the visit. You will be full and if not, it's your own fault, for the meals are hearty. Even the small plates. I highly recommend the soup and bread (ask for more bread). And if in the area, it is worth the stopover.
To those not from the UK, you may find this especially delightful for the ambiance of true British working country. No frills, but perfectly comfortable and while not the dishes from the best restaurants in London, the food is delicious, filling and will stick with you for many hours to follow and at a decent price to boot.
T. P.
Took my family for a long over due get together, I had the rib eye stake , it was perfect, I'm booking again for another family meal at there new experience, can't wait, if your thinking of going ask for the experience.
S. W.
We had a very nice visit and meal at The Moody Mare. My wife's meal that arrived was not what was ordered but that was quickly rectified. The ambience and customer service was excellent. The bill was reduced appropriately. Unfortunately my wife was violently ill a few hours later. I phoned the pub to let them know and I got a phone call back to say that an investigation had been carried out and nothing untoward was found. Whilst we had a lovely time it has put us off going back.
L. C.
Arrived on the off-chance but it was fully booked. From what I saw and could smell we will definitely book to go back.
K. H.
Great food and friendly service. What a fab find, we can't wait to return. We met the chef, bought a handmade charcuterie board & had a tour of the beautiful Tepes. Thank you.
D. R.
Love it here. Food is always, so amazing. Staff are so friendly & welcoming. They can't do enough for you. Made mine & my partners Valentine's night, a very special one. Such a lovely, friendly & cosy environment. Would highly recommend!!!
K.
Our first visit here and we certainly wasn’t disappointed. From the moment we walked in the reception was fantastic, all the staff were friendly and very helpful, it felt like nothing was too much trouble. The service was excellent, and the food was absolutely amazing. We were so impressed we are going to make it a regular thing. And if you like live music then you’ll love it.
C. C.
Brilliant friendly service, good value and wonderful food. With a big party the staff were constantly attentive and brought all the food out on time. Everyone said their meal was delicious and we had a great evening.
A. D.
We went in to enquire about a function. Liked what we saw and decided to stop for a light lunch. It was really good and top class service. They couldn't help with function due to already being booked up. But we will go again.
D. S.
Beautiful food, terrific staff, lovely atmosphere
L. S.
Thank you Ben and team who ensured our Ruby Wedding bash yesterday was a success. The venue, food and hospitality was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Our guests were very impressed with the wonderful buffet and we truly had a great day. We will be back!
H. E.
Enjoyed a family meal here with for my birthday, with my children and grandchildren. Very happy with the food, hit and miss with staff, I believe one had only just started and hadn't been brought up to speed with menu or type of glasses to use for different drinks.
My main problem was the size of the children's meals. Far far too big for our 2 two year olds.
Adult meals were all great.
D. M.
Had an excellent lunch here with family. Everyone really enjoyed their food, and it was very reasonable. Nice variety of fish and meat on the menu, child friendly and staff were good. Homely surroundings. Look forward to going back in summer and sitting in the garden.
N. C.
Gorgeous pub
Amazing staff... only had pale ale selections. Or Guinness which was a Shame for such a cozy pub where a good selection of Ales would suit.
Definately will go back though-Book in advance for food. Seems their Food is very popular !! ;)
S. F.
Lovely meal lovely staff. Only down was felt not suitable for disabled. I had job to walk to table but food made up for it.
D. C.
Everything about the place was good.
The staff were very pleasant and efficient. The food was excellent. They had prepared for social distancing.
Our visit was a thoroughly pleasant experience and we hope to go there again.
D. R.
Service was really good, but food not overly tasty. No flavour to the olives or ribeye steak and 4 of the mussels in cream were served unopened. An OK meal, but probably would not go there again. Nice place, nice atmosphere, but food could be improved.
J. E.
Had our works Christmas Party at The Moody Mare this Saturday and I can not recommend it more highly. The staff were absolutely incredible, the food was delicious and the ambience of the pub was just perfect! 🥂 the staff paid extra attention to food intolerances and made me feel super special! 🎁⛄️🎅🏽 Thankyou for a memorable 2018 Christmas Party!
Altogether we had 45 meals, 15 starters, 15 mains and 15 desserts and every single meal was delicious! Everything was super tasty, the vegetables were some of the best tasting veg we’ve ever eaten. Delicious! délicieux 👌🏻 🍨 🦃 🐷 🐠 🥃
G. F.
Great find on a weekend drive. We arrived for an early lunch and the food was superb. The place was rammed by the time we left so obviously a popular spot for roasts. I'd recommend booking a table if you're thinking of going here.
R. F.
Friendly welcome and polite, efficient service.
Choice of standard beers and lagers plus casks of tasty local beers and ciders.
Really well cooked food and a good choice on the menu - something for all tastes and budgets. Good ingredients have obviously been used and care had been taken to make sure the food looked good as well as tasting good.
Perfectly served Illy coffee - right temperature and no bitterness or residue.
Loos spotless and we'll stocked.
What more could you ask for.
Will definitely be visiting again each and every time we are back in Kent.
c. s.
We visited because it looked nice on the outside. We had burgers. They wasn't very nice, the burger was large, but chewy and bland. Not sure if, because its big it takes so long to cook and all the fat is cooked out?, it was hard work to eat The coffee was hit and miss, nice first one, but the second overfilled and strong, we had wait a while for the waitress to tip some out and get more milk. The milk jugs have indentations where the handles join inside, these were dirty with yellow old crusty milk. I really liked the individual flannels for hand towels, better than a noisy hand dryer in an eatery. Would appreciate a peg for the hand bag, as there isn't one. We spent about £30 on lunch and were slightly disappointed.
J. s.
Enjoyable meal for a 90th Birthday. Staff were good and attentive fir anything needed. All enjoyed the meal on Saturday early evening. Seemed to get busier around 8pm so early evening a good time to visit if preferred to be quieter. Good food with some varied options .
C. g.
👌 Thankyou to Ben and the team at The Moody Mare for our first of many Home Delivery meals.
It was soooo delicious and great to be able to still enjoy your excellent food.
It was nice and hot when it was delivered and you don't always get that with home delivery so well done guys. John and Tracy
J. G.
Rather pricey for what it is but very nice. Staff were attentive and friendly. Cosy restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Food was nice but not worth the pricing, which compared locally was high. Probably wouldn't go again because of this, which is a shame because it has everything else going for it. Went on a Thursday night and it was very quiet, probably because it is out in the middle of nowhere, so perhaps they have to make up for lack of business with pricing, but unfortunately that puts you off going again!
C. H.
Had a wedding there 6 May was brilliant every thing was perfect and the staff were brilliant would recommend it to any body
I. W.
The conversion to The moody mare has taken place, and they are now trying to be more family friendly.
However they have some way to go.
The Food was very good, but you should never bring out the adult meals before the children's, which they did here.
The portions for our children were far too much. One of our children was in a high chair, the plate that was brought was too big to fit and would have fed a grown up.
However they are trying.

Slightly hit & miss. I've been here twice, absolutely loved it the first time and was very impressed with the quality of food and service. The 2nd time, however, all the food was undercooked, starters came at the same time as the mains and the waiter was completely unaware that this was abnormal and one of these dishes was not what we ordered. It's a shame the service isn't consistent.

You have to see this place to believe it. Haven't eaten here yet but have every intention to. They have a huge teepee in the garden which can be hired for functions but there is lots more going on. Check it out

Literally the best pub/restaurant I've been too.
Friendly, welcoming staff
Dog friendly
Food fit for royalty
Phenomenal entertainment
Picturesque surroundings
Just go there. You'll be missing out if you don't.

This place is doing exactly what it intends to do really quite well. Which is nice when it's a mile down a country lane from your house. Big menu full of staples plus some innovative stuff - see mackerel starter and shine a fowl main. Better by a long way than your average country pub grub.

Just celebrated a 'big ' birthday here & cannot recommend this lovely place enough. From start to finish - the welcome from the landlord, the sumptuous tasty food & the attentive waitresses.
Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. Thank you.

Lovely menu with great choices available - I really fancied nearly every dish on the menu which is very rare. Great drinks choice, good service and friendly staff. What more could you ask for? Highly recommended.

Really got that mix of traditional pub and Gastropub right. They don't mind you just popping in for a beer with the dog, just as much as I like treating the whole family for a really decent Sunday roast. Beautiful decor and a big garden and play area too.
