Lovely walk to The Redstart for Sunday lunch. Based on reviews it was worth going along for the first time. Food was very good. We had the traditional roast beef & roast pork. Cooked very well and you would expect. Staff polite and a pleasant atmosphere. Would recommend. 4/5.

Lovely little hidden gem . I took my team of 16 here on a Friday night and thought it was fairly priced. The staff were great too , very patient and accommodating with our group . Lovely Garden and park for kids so great for summer nights drink but also well decorated and maintained bar area for a cosy drink. I'm sure a return will be on the cards at some point . Thanks for a great night .

Great pub, car parking but a bit limited, although there are residential streets. Good menu and range of food, with additional lunchtime menu, although needs to change occasionally to provide fresh offerings. Seating inside and out, large garden with play area for children.

This is a traditional pub in a residential street that boasts a chandelier. Its car park is not large but on the plus side there is a beer garden at the back. There is also dining space inside. The staff when I visited were all female and they provided a very polite, but not unfriendly, efficient and welcoming service. I only looked at the snack menu and had a jacket potato with cheese which came with a mixed salad on the side and was neatly presented. Other snacks such sandwiches were also available. My coffee was made at an espresso machine (good) and came with a mint chocolate disc. Overall, I'd say this is a hospitable pub.

I'm not local so went here for lunch because of the reviews. Definitely not let down, burger was delicious (hand made) beautifully seasoned, well cooked chips and had 2 lattes because I enjoyed that too. Service perfection also, like they can mind read. 😋👏

It’s surprising how good pub food can be. The RedStart exemplifies this. Walk inside and it looks like a standard looking sociable drinking space. Sit down, look at the specials board, you begin to realise there is something special about this place. Yes it does prepare the traditional British dishes. The RedStart goes one step further and throws in European dishes into the mix. When these dishes arrive they ooze quality. Presentation, piquant and professional. These were some of the best tasting dishes I have sampled at a pub in Kent. For 3 courses I had change from £30, unbelievable given the standard of food. European pub food at it’s best.

Excellent value Sunday roasts with 8 different vegetables (that's a big plus in my view) and generous portions of meat. A really good mix of local people when we went on a busy Sunday lunchtime - mostly seemed to be friends, and families with children - which makes for a great atmosphere. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and no issues with any of our meals. Recommended!

Worked all over Kent for years, but only came across the Redstart 2 weeks ago. Dined lunchtime on a Thursday with 4 friends. All agreed that the various choices of meals were superb. Served by a very efficient female European bar person who was readily available when required. In all, a very pleasant dining experience, we will return.

Very welcoming, friendly staff. Enough to ensure attentive, knowledgeable service. Covered outdoor seating. With very good child's play area. Small but good menu with traditional pub food and tasty specials plus good selection for those who may be vegetarian. Very well presented and tasty. Good portion sizes. Kids menu suited our 6 year old. Good parking.

We booked a section of the pub garden for my husband’s parent’s Golden Wedding Anniversary party this June 2021. Arrangements were made easily by email and telephone and the tables had been reserved in advance of our arrival. The buffet food was enjoyed by all and the young staff were excellent. The owner was extremely attentive and calm. She dealt with any requests quickly and was very helpful. I would thoroughly recommend the Red Start.

Can't fault the takeaway Sunday roasts! We've had a couple now. The food is high quality and the prices are reasonable. Portions are large (I'm greedy and can eat all of mine, but the wife and kids have leftovers). We've also had the biscoff cheesecake dessert which is yummy, but quite a small portion compared to the mains. Staff are always very friendly and welcoming. When lockdown is over I'd like to go here more often.

We had a table outside. Food tasted ok, it is in no way a gastropub. Huge potions with lots of gravy, etc. My beetroot and feta cheese salad had barely any beetroot or feta, mostly salad leaves. Customer service was good. Place overall seemed a bit run down and dirty to me. And even though we sat outside there was a weird smell :( would not go back.

We had a party of ladies to celebrate Christmas. ALL 17 ladies agreed that we had the most wonderful food. Which turned out good value for money. The service was exceptional with a lovely range of desserts and special diets catered for.

Really nice pub looks like it's up graded itself during lockdown, we had a superb family night out here the food was excellent top notch plus they did and still do great takeaways the one thing that spoilt it was my dessert a sad piece of strudel that had been microwaved tuff as old boots they were told and I'm sure it will be put right , will definitely go back again

It is a good country pub with fresh food and a good gardens. But also has ramped wheelchair access including ramp to mens loo with bigger cubicle. Womens loo on level but not so accessible. No specific disabled parking but quite lot of parking.
