Reviews of Barley Farm - Dining & Carvery
C. M.
Some of the food wasn't too bad, but my nephew had to cut his mashed potato with a knife looked more like playdough than food. Was rather warm an stuffy, also the app wasn't working very well so my sister had to place our order at the bar. On the plus side I enjoyed my cake away.
S. P.
Went here for a family meal; our first visit. Easy to find and park. Everywhere was clean and tidy and as we walked to our table, the carvery looked delicious and all fresh. We ordered at the bar, as the app doesn't let you adjust a meal (take items off). The carvery was delicious, especially the cauliflower cheese which was extra cheesy yum 😋.
They have a play area for children, which was good and all staff were friendly and polite. Would definitely return here, as we all enjoyed our delicious food.
A. V.
A little bit disappointed with service and size of meals for the price. Once ordered the food arrived but had to call waiter twice to complete the order.
It also did not serve the coffee as coffee machine was broken down?!
The place is well laid out, spacious but the carpets were unclean with food on it at different empty tables.
I feel it has plenty things to improve on, but let's start from the beginning.
D. M.
Was pleasantly surprised as we used to frequent it quite a lot before Covid closed everywhere down. We would go after flying at Barton for a drink and something to eat and had got out of the Habit so going on the spur of the moment paid dividends as we decided to go with the Carvery. More than enough food which was really good and we stayed much longer than we anticipated drink and just enjoying the company and the atmosphere: Thank You to all the staff involved. Would Recommend.
H. D.
Now then, what have we here. We’ve got some delightful carvery options.
We’ve got some top notch slow-roasted meats with a load of different veg and other treats to fill your belly with. I’ll be back here soon I’d imagine.
As you’ll see on the photos below those roasted meats will make your mouth water whilst you wait in line to be served (don’t worry we didn’t have to wait long either).
D. H.
Came for a lunch, which was lovely. Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and decor. Thank you Beth, Lily, David and Ashlee for the excellent service. Brought home a slice of cake which was enormous and delicious. Will definitely go back again.

Lovely family friendly pub, ordered food quite a few times always been lovely and delicious. Staff are really good and if some order carvery and others off the main menu they let you know wait times so the whole family can eat together. It can get very busy on match days so best to book a table but even on matchdays you dont wait too long and they still keep the pub clean and tidy.
K. R.
Absolutely fantastic can not fault the food. The staff were marvellous and so so friendly, Thank you to Karen, Paul and Ash for making us all feel so welcome. We will definitely be returning.

We went when it wasn't busy which was great! We had the pick of the seats even though it said at the desk to wait to be seated. Great choice on the menu and really well priced. We both got carvery. Meat was excellent! Veggies looked like the had been there a while, so did the gravy but it was more than edible. Excellent Yorkshire puds too!!! We got ice cream for dessert which came in a plastic cup which i understand is probably aimed at kids. However, it was an adult earing it with a throw away mini plastic spoon. Would of been nice if it was in a dessert glass or even a bowl. I had warm chocolate fudge cake with cream. It wasn't warm, quite dry and the cream tasted off. We then took a large éclair home with us as a cake away option. Looked fantastic!! Unfortunately, it had the day before date on so went in the bin. We would defo be back for carvery as it was really tasty but we will probably swerve the dessert menu. Staff we really nice and friendly. Kept it clean and tidy, although I had sticky elbows when we left so it must of been from the table but I can't say I noticed at the time.
E. P.
There is a great kiddies disco every Friday from 6pm which my children enjoy much. Apart from that, food is mediocre. They're usually short on bar staff, expect very long queues at times.
d. H.
The meal was lovely and Jenny our waitress was really helpful considerate and very welcoming to us...thank you Jenny. It was a great experience. 👍
C. M.
Carvery was lovely!! Play area for the kids is always a win, super friendly staff too! Thankyou for a great evening.
B. H.
The price is good. A small plate was £3.99 and a large £6.99. Both included unlimited tea and coffee! Cheapest breakfast anywhere in the area. The staff are friendly and helpful. We didn't enjoy the food as much as we hopped and the sausages tasted too 'herby'. However, great place to visit on a budget and I would still recommend a visit. Don't forget the cake away!
G. C.
First time visited, good food with nice staff. I like the vintage decorations. Good place for spending time on weekdays.
B. (.
Great service and was quickly reseated when I was unhappy with the table we had so thank you front of house staff you all looked busy and the food was amazing so thank you kitchen for getting it Bob on inlike some place that offer what you offer but fail in some ways unlike you lot so good to see a team
J. D.
Been here a number of times now and always enjoy the food.
Value for money.
However today one of the girls decided to start cleanimg the tables next to us and the spray didn't go down well with my breakfast, School boy error.
She was very polite though, so top marks.
D.
Went to Barley Farm tonight for the carvery dinner with family from Australia, was greeted by a lovely lady called Yvonne and even though it was very busy she sorted a table out for us quite quickly. We all enjoyed our roast dinners and would happily recommend and come again. Thanks to everyone.
S. C.
I wouldn't have a carvery anywhere else in Greater Manchester now. Great food and service.
K. A. (.
Nice place but it's about same as any other carvery. Good meat portions. Nice food and a good selection of drinks. Nice place to get a Sunday dinner.
S. C.
Nice food best out of the chain but total chaos for walk in diners . Tables were reserved for 6.30 and it was 4.45 when we went and they had no tables ??? About 6 we're reserved for that 6.30 slot x staff didn't see my point about how we were not going to be still there at 6.30 so we could use one of the reserved tables
J. H.
Didn't have the meal I chose from the menu so ended up with a carvery bap. It was OK nothing special and I got very little meat, the vegetables were a little soggy and roast potatoes were burnt I won't break my neck to go back there.
C. M.
Went for tea on friday had a carvery bap which was lovely, it was very busy but the service was fast, other family members enjoyed it they had combo's and carvery which went down well.
R. M.
After returning I found it to be a very pleasant experience. The food was really nice, staff were friendly. Could see the changes implemented by Dan the manager and I appreciate the hard work and effort he and the rest of the staff have put in to address my previous concerns.
Would recommend people go try their food.
E. E.
We had the Golden Years menu. 2 courses for £7.99. so enjoyed the carvery and apple crumble with custard
s. h.
Just had a lovely lunch big thank you to lily & Beth excellent service highly recommended nice relaxed vibe will definitely be going again thank you 😊 and thank you to David and Ashlee the cakes are delicious 😋
R. N.
Family meal all good, great service lovely food, got cakes to bring home just fabulous so fresh and mega delicious 😊
A. H.
Love the carvery! The staff members were so friendly and portions are so generous it's unreal. Will definitely be coming back!
l. s.
Lovely guys and lovely table staff. Carvery had ran out so only gammon left but we still enjoyed it.
D. M. K.
Ok carvery and average sides. Large portions of food (7.99 for average plate, 9.99 for large plate and you can fill them to your hearts content). There is also a space for children to play which is great for families. However some of the toys in the kids area are broken, they were dirty and could definitely do with a revamp. The major drawback for us was that it's self service in order to buy food and drinks so there's lots of queuing and waiting which is not great when you have little children. There were 4people in our party (kids aside) so we had to take turns in order to go buy food and of course our food got cold waiting for the others. Overall I would only visit again for their icecream which was excellent but wouldn't stay again for food.
J. M.
Hi, we came to the Barley on Valentines night, we had a very friendly greeting by Denise who was only too happy to accommodate the fact I was in a wheelchair and had limitations, we were seated in a nice quiet area and enjoyed our meals, certainly plenty for your money, we didn't have the carvery but we did see the size of a large plate which was massive. Of course every meal out deserves a pudding so I selected some different flavours of ice cream and a slice of lemon cake to take away. We had a very enjoyable evening so thank you Denise. UUnfortunately the only down side was the lemon cake was burnt down the sides, but covered over with butter cream.
g. e.
Lee is always pleasant and talks to all the customers done a fantastic job with nice fresh meals and carvery is spot on 👍
D. B.
Enjoyed the food long wait as error ticket not sent to kitchen 40 minutes wait.received free drinks.as apologie.
K. O.
The customer service we received from Denise was absolutely fantastic will definitely be coming here again to see her. She went above and beyond for us during our time here. Food was also outstanding and delicious
A. R.
Very delicious food, since i discovered this place i had the best time there with my family and friends. A very nice lady with glasses always cheers us up with her optimism. ♥️ In this wonderful place, I feel at home in the countryside. ☺️ I recommend it with all my heart. Food will fill your stomach and heart at the same time. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to try the cakes because the dinner is so big that I do not have the strength for dessert. Anyone who has not been to this place must visit! 😍😍🤩
M. K.
Great atmosphere and great food every time I go.
k. b.
Beautiful breakfast by Sam didn’t think he had it in him to cook that well would definitely want his breakfast again
l. n.
We went tonight Sunday for tea. We both had the same meal. One was not hot so we sent this back. Yvonne the waitress came back with a fresh hot one. Also a complimentary carrot cake for the inconvience.
Thank you for the quick service
K. K.
Amazing quality food and brilliant customer service here as always, Thank you so much Lucy and Yvonne xx
J. n.
Lovely place, the whole aesthetic was great, kind staff, 3 I got talking to were lily, Paul and Ashlee they were friendly and welcoming, really enjoyed my time there and the food was immaculate, will be back, easy 5 stars for me :)
J. P.
Great food ,I took my 2 1/2 year old grandson plenty of choice for little ones , lots of high chairs available
V. K.
Delicious food, really friendly staff will definitely be back
n. d.
Friendly staff. Excellent value carvery. Didn't have a pud but they looked amazing.
M. S.
Unfortunately the app isn't working at this pub yet, but there was no delay putting our order in at the bar. Minor problem with the carotts with my wife's meal but they were exchanged without a problem. Otherwise would have been 5 stars. Since advised by the pub that the Green King app does work there but when I used it the app advised that it wasn't available, so may be a problem with the app on my phone.
Z. “. L.
Amazing food as per usual, Amazing front of house member of staff who's name was Denise, I like to leave a fair and honest review but the serving of carvery meat was extremely poor and considering I paid extra to enjoy the benefits of extra meat I was disappointed with my child's portion, hopefully this can be rectified in the future for other patrons and lessons can be learnt from my review, but other than the tiny rations of meat, The service was fantastic and the vegetables were delicious, I can not give a honest opinion of the meat as it was too sparing to leave a positive impact on myself. Despite the lack of carvery meat for myself and my family I have still left a 5 star review and hopefully after almost 2 years of almost being closed due to covid, I can understand the server of the meat is hopefully learning that when someone purchases a ultimate carvery they expect that.
K. W.
Visited today with my Husband and Son for the Sunday carvery. It was absolutely stunning the food was gorgeous so tasty and plenty of choice although I couldn’t finish it all but that was because I piled my plate up being the greedy girl that I am 😂
The pub itself was so festive the decorations fabulous the staff was all so lovely and attentive making our experience all the better.
Thanks Barley Farm we will be back!
C. C.
Got a carvery box from the "Too Good to Go " app. Great value for money at £3.50 each. Small piece of meat but still a great variety of vegetables and potatoes. Myself and my husband left with a LARGE BOX which was put into a paper bag to takeaway. (We were expecting it to be tiny) It satisfied our Sunday dinner cravings. Will most definitely return 😀

Never been here before but would definitely visit again - everyday if I lived nearer!! Lovely clean place, friendly and helpful staff and a carvery that is second to none. There was 3 of us in our group, all chose a standard carvery and 2 of us were amazed at how much choice there was, we'd not seen so many vegetables to choose from anywhere else. The food was, as I've said, plentiful and also very well cooked. We arrived slightly earlier than expected but were sat to our table immediately and called to the carvery at 12 noon promptly, which we appreciated given the long journey back to North Wales afterwards. The establishment appears to be very popular, it quickly filled up, which says it all really, doesn't it?
K. T.
Family friendly pub near JJ BELL stadium, we had a lovely meal together for 5 adults and two children with a good choice of menu.
Did need the pub-s app to access and order but everything came fairly quickly.
Was also able to order a
cake away from a range great desserts.
C. L.
Friendly staff fitted 10 of us in very last minute when the caterers for our training course let us down last minute. Sue was extremely helpful indeed. Great food which arrived promptly. Will now come back with my family ASAP! Thank you!
K. P.
Had a lovely time. Some dook by the name of Paul was the most pleasant individual I have ever encountered. Young maid by the name of Lily was enchanting and id bet my house on her being a high achiever in this industry. Good job guys.
j. r.
Hi have to say the customer service here is exceptional, I was served by Paul who was welcoming and very efficient. There was a lady called Stacey dressed up as an elf which helps to create a wonderful atmosphere. Another gentleman the we encountered was Jeff again fabulous service. This place is well worth a visit. Thanks to everyone who made our visit memorable.
M. T.
First time we visited the place so we didn't know what to expect.
The staff greeted us sat us down at a table took our order and that was that.
Food (carvery) was good. I always enjoy the food when the gravy is nice and tasty. This was nice and tasty.
For what we spent just over £20 you can't argue. End result was two almost clean plates.
Will we be going again?
Definitely 👍 👍 👍.
A. L.
Great Tuesday Quiz night, good fun and nice prizes include chocolate and alcohol packs, :). Good food, I recommend the small carvery unless you can eat an entire farm in one go, lol. The fish and ships are really nice, and great puddings. Quick service, reasonable prices, very friendly and helpful staff. Can't go every Tuesday, wish I could.
F. M.
stopped off on way home for a bit of brunch, food and service was very good.
M. H.
Carvery was so nice Tuesday night was great plus the cakes were out of this world would recommend this place.
A. K.
Called in after a very long drive and what a lovely warm and welcoming place. It felt like we had walked into winter wonderland!
We enjoyed a drink but soaked up the lovely atmosphere watching the friendly and attentive staff.
We really didn’t want to leave as it was such a lovely break from a long journey.
Well done guys; fabulous ❤️
S. B.
Called in for the carvery Tuesday 27th July. The staff were all observing social distancing measures, masks worn. Very helpful and friendly. The chef at the carvery was friendly and professional. I did notice a higher screen at the counter, customer do not serve themselves with vegetables, gravy etc, the chef asks what you would like, serves to your plate then your plate is placed on a small sliding unit to you, very good for introducing this.
The food was lovely, with the exception of the Sprouts, a little hard and very little taste. The plates could be a little warmer also. A enjoyable hour or so. Thank you.
D. H.
Food was good and presented well, good seating area outside. Standard pub food and drinks
M. T.
Had carvery delicious, but veg a little under done.
L. S.
Lovely meal as usual at Barley Farm, catered easily for Gluten Free and Vegan for our party, Denise looked after us with her usual cheery manner, nothing was to much trouble, food came in good time, piping hot and delicious.
A. J.
Nice clean setting, efficient staff only down side as far as I (male) was concerned was that I did find the chef was a bit selective with his meat portions, giving only a very small portion (two very small cuts) to myself and where my partner had four much larger portions which she had so much could not eat it all. I, also noted that several other ladies had similar sized portions and had to leave the excess. I also found that most of the vegetables where a bit on the hard, undercooked side, seeing several large quantities of food being waisted. I will return in a month or so to see if they have improved there standards...
Z. R.
Had breakfast 1st time !! Went for the all u can eat menu listed fresh tomatoes sadly no fresh tomatoes 😢 menu said twinnings tea sadly no twinning tea just a bowl of normal teabags !! However bacon was beautiful would say its worth a visit but wetherspoons is better sorry barley farm
C.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch today, staff were fab especially Denise! She’s a diamond, such a friendly way about her & she is very welcoming. Oh and the food was lovely thanks again
L. S.
The carvery was really good. Unfortunately the macaroni cheese was only warm as was Apple crumble and custard. Asked for a coffee at 8.25pm to be told she had just shut it down for cleaning!!
c. g.
Loved the visit today at barley farm with My family. The bar lady lily was soo nice and helpful and the manager Ashley was lovely and polite and helped with any queries. 100% recommend
J. M.
Just been for a meal for my mums birthday. Staff nice and helpful. Carvery not up to usual standard and my mum didn't enjoy it. Waiting times were a bit crazy. Told our desert would be 2 minutes when we'd already waited 20. After another 15 minutes we asked again. Food arrived. A 1.5 hour meal took 3 hours. A bit of a disappointing visit this time I'm afraid.
C. D.
Always great here. Lovely staff and fresh food. Great carvery, good selection especially on a weekend.
s. c.
Visited here on Monday and it was amazing! The food was great and the staff was so lovely and helpful especially ashlee, lily and Paul! Thanks for a great experience! :D
S. C.
Lovely staff and gorgeous food.
Short-staffed but Paul needs a medal, always running around, but always had time to speak to us, also young girl in black shirt ( courtney) made to feel so welcome, will deffo come back
S. S.
Went today for the works Christmas lunch. Had a lovely meal + a big thank you to the staff Lorraine, the chief Thomson + the girl behind the bar with the Christmas hair clip in. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name. They were so friendly + very professional.Many. It won't be long before we will be back again. Thank you
O. T.
I went to barley farm yesterday and got greeted by a lovely lady called Ashlee then served by a girl called lily at the bar who was patient with our order. Lovely staff
P.
First time at the Barley Farm and want to give a big shout to the manager who was on shift last Sunday 23rd in the morning. Sale where playing and it was mad busy but he was in total control of all that was going on. Absolute professional, very welcoming, dealt with everyone who came to him with a query and even when I asked about our food order. Also thanks for the Guinness, above and beyond! Apologies for not putting your name on here but you where very busy when we left. Will be back for the carvery next time it looked fab!
K. E.
It's a carvery, and it's not bad - no pigs in blankets or parsnips this time though 🤣
G. T.
Friendly staff at barley the other day! Got sat down by a lady called lily with a great smile and had Ashlee bringing the food to us and got us everything we needed.
J. H.
Brilliant food for the value. Lovely service by a lady called Lily. Will be back again. Also lady called Ashley on the till was very polite
A. K.
Called in Sunday lunchtime but just for a hot sandwich and a beer. Despite being very busy with Sunday lunches, service was efficient, friendly and engaging. Sandwiches were good quality, with freshly cooked chips and homemade coleslaw served in no time at all. Customers outside were attended to regularly, and tables cleared and cleaned. All in all a great experience, in this popular pub.
I. A.
Breakfast or dinner superb but it all depends when you go in and how busy because everything is buffet style when not off the menu and the time could be an issue when ordering. Run better than Juniper Farm
A. D.
Went barley tonight with friends had a great time food lovely staff really friendly . Good selection of food on menu Maria and Yvonne very helpful
S. C. (.
Always enjoy going here, I love the carvery. The children's area is very minimal and designed for very young children. So unless the children are running around to play or bring their own entertainment, they will be bored. So if it's a day out for the kids I'd recommend bringing something they can play with or take them to Play Factore or Saracen's head, which ever is most convenient to you.
D. O.
Really great value meal out. We visited on the recommendation of a friend of ours and were so glad we went.
The service was superb all the staff were welcoming and friendly, especially at the bar.
The food was amazing value for money, the cheese and onion mash was devine - and meats well cooked and the portion sizes extremely generous (i'd suggest a small carvery if you are planning on dessert).
The desserts is where i think they shine - we ordered a snickers cake and a slice of cheesecake - it was immense (the slices were bigger than my face) and were super tasty, we got them to takeaway as we were so stuffed from the carvery.
The pub itself is clean, large and has outdoor and indoor seating, it didn't feel too closed in and busy which was good. I would definitely recommend visiting, I'm looking at visiting again but taking my my mum and 2 sisters for my mums 50th - it will be worth going for the cakes alone.
E. T.
Food really good even though it is fathers day and extremely busy,Yvonne was super helpful 😊
P. S.
Good service. Great meal. Great value. Will go again soon.
S. N.
Love the to good to go app . I always get myself a carvery which is less than half price to going sitting in and eating it
D. B.
Friendly staff, decent selection of breakfast items available but due to lack off staff there was a long wait for refilla such as sausages, hash browns, scrambled eggs and toast meaning there was queues and plates getting cold.
I. C.
Good selection of beers and wat reasonable prices staff helpful with the question I asked 👍
N. H.
Carvery is great but ordering food off the menu is a bit hit and miss.
D.
I love this place all the staff are excellent the welcome from the reception to the chef is friendly very impressive customer service all around. I cant recommed this place enough the best carvery around 👌🏽 My partner is sick and theyve always done there utmost to make him feel comfortable its appreciated and makes a difference to our day. We go out of our way to come to this carvery as we love it. We have always had a really pleasant time and gorgeous food here...we'll be back soon x
E.
It's the staff that makes this place they are very attentive, helpful and always smiling, especially the lady seating people tonight. Grazers on the new menu very nice also.
Thank you for great customer service even though they were extremely busy.
N. M.
Great crack in the pub today with paul and lily today. They helped with every query we had and had a laugh with us and made our visit enjoyable. Great work guys.
A. C.

S. F.
Simple pub food, great value for money, food was served quickly although busy. Good place for meeting up with friends and family.
Q. C.
Buffet breakfast under £5 per person
D. C.
Good breakfast buffet and fast service.
Edit in response: Some items were missing from the buffet that I took as unfortunate as I had come later in the morning 10:30am but would of been nice if they were restocked for the people coming in after 10am (fried eggs, tomatoes, fried bread).
D. W.
As always perfect in every way, food, staff, all excellent & well worth the money
M. L.
Me and my girlfriend came here for first time and aren't disappointed at all! Good was so delicious! Also price for what you get are really good. Portions large, we couldn't even finish everything. Courtney and Devon were super friendly aswell. Will be back!
S. S.
It was lovely to be treated to a Sunday carvery here on the 8th August.
Didn't book but phoned up on spec at around 2.30pm and was told to come along but we might have to wait a few minutes.
We arrived 10 minutes later and were greeted warmly by staff, just a short wait while they sorted out our table.
Clean and bright surroundings, table's were social distance apart.
We ordered and the drinks arrived straight away, as it was busy, a little waiting in queue for the Carvery,
I have never seen such a large glass of coke my friend had. Meal servings come in 3 sizes but they are all very generous.
The meat was cooked tender and the veg was just right, not under or over cooked, the Yorkshire puddings were wonderful, really delicious meals, My friend had the large size meal, I had regular but I was so full that I had to take my dessert home, they have a lovely "Cake - Away" service, we really enjoyed it.
Perfect Sunday lunch.
L. P.
Stopped for breakfast here this morning. Staff were lovely and friendly. Breakfast was amazing ! Hot and tasty, everything was cooked to perfection. Full English and ulimited coffee. Brilliant start to our day !
D. L.
Came for a few beers before the rugby, very busy, but paul always found time to serve me and the guys. And was always laughing and joking with us, even though he was mad busy.
We came from bristol today, but will come back anyday just for the quality beer and banter with paul.
Or-roight me ole mucker
R. B.
Been a few times. Gets very very busy at peak times. Food off the menu is good. I haven't been that impressed with the carvery if I'm honest. Nothing like a home made Sunday roast. Has a play area for the kids inside so keeps them happy. The deserts are crazy. Like probably 2000 calories in a slice of cake! You can do a cake away so eat it when you get home.

Came in with the family during the week and received great customer service from a young girl by the name of demi, she was very helpful and polite and made us all feel very welcome, food wasn’t too bad either for pub grub.
N. T.
First time visiting here,Lovley staff ..Amanda made me giant bowl of ice-cream very much impressed
M. B.
nice yeah tastey food carnt grumble
R. C.
18 mins to recieve my food at a carvery, bear in mind this was when i started to look at watch so was probably more. Only six adults, one child in front of me.
Manager bogged down serving at the bar when i bit of direction could have helped.
One overworked guy at carvery, no one arriving till 4 apparently. Lots of staff (perhaps not food trained maybe) milling around, eventually after the person in front of me complained twice a girl arrived to dish up vegetables.
Prices acceptable but with no free drink refills it doesnt encourage you not to go to Toby Carvery, what with the slow service. Plates still there 15 mins later when i left, as were the table next to me who left 15 mins earlier.
Free wasps and flies available at the bar and carvery if you want (to be fair its a warm day and they come in with the customers and they gotta eat too)
Is this a 3 star review indicating good? No though a staff member did ask me "is everything alright" I didnt have the heart to say anything else.

We've just had the most wonderful meal at the Barley Farm. All of the staff were extremely helpful. A huge thanks to Paul who was most attentive and professional during our meal. I'd recommend anyone calling in to try the food here. Many thanks.
S. M.
Came this morning for breakfast with santa, me and my children absolutely enjoyed our morning so welcoming and magical... just set up our Christmas eve morning perfectly...the staff we're all amazing and the food was on point as usual!! Thank you Barley Farm...
B. K.
Great breakfast includes toast, preserves and tea/coffee. The cask beers are available from 10am.

What a lovely place. Easy to find. Price is well worth it . Nice and clean and friendly staff will defo be visiting again
I. L.
Just been to Barley farm with my Grandson. I was very impressed with the safety measures in place and felt totally safe whilst dining. I paid for the meal and drinks which were brought over by a member of staff and then we were called over to be served from the carvery. Staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant. Many thanks. X
D. O.
Went to Barley Farm for our 'usual' carvery - last one before lockdown. As per normal, meat and veg from the carvery was excellent. Takeaway cakes to spoil ourselves too! Service was brilliant, with all staff being polite, smiling and friendly. Chris, behind the bar was extremely helpful. Looking forward to going back, hopefully in early December.
In the meantime, stay safe everyone.
S. T.
Not impressed with the food, the beef was chewy, I ended up with a plate of roast potatoes as there was no peas or carrots. Poor lad carving the meat was working hard to serve everyone with the meat and then adding the vegetables and gravy for each of them. Que, was building up with no help for the poor lad.
J. C.
Nice service meals are tasty, great value and large in quantity. However the iconic cakes they sell have gone down in quality. Keep in mind I go consistently once a year (visiting family) so I have noticed a difference this time round, or it could have been a one off.
H. H.
Had a really enjoyable afternoon at Barley farm. Staff were really fantastic and a lovely atmosphere. Denise was absolutely amazing with us!!! Thank you!!
J. W.
Very good carvery would definitely go again.
Lovely guy serving the meat. All other staff just as lovely and welcoming.
A. B.
I'm unsure of the waitress' name, but she was blonde and fairly young, she was very polite and chatty, we really enjoyed our meal, thank you!
R. A.
Cheap and cheerful. You know when you go to Barley Farm that you'll be leaving full, I've given it 5 stars because it does what it does best. The service is quick and the meat is absolutely fine, there's plenty of vegetables to pile up on your plate. I've been 3 times, the first time I got the ultimate which was far too much food, the second time I got large which was more than enough. This time I've gone for the standard size and to be honest you can get just as much food it's just only one choice of meat as opposed to two with the Large
It can get very busy but staff seem to keep it flowing, maybe consider booking online on the weekend.

Christmas eve breakfast with some of our family .
Breakfast was delicious, the staff were exceptionally friendly and everyone enjoyed the experience. Thank you for the effort the staff put in to making our visit so lovely🎅🤶🌲🎁
J. P.
Quite a nice change for a chain restaurant. Spotlessly clean too
Loads of choice

Was a bit dubious on entering. With a 4 year old daughter they was going to seat us in the family part, what with kids running around banging into tables there parents oblivious to it. We like to sit and enjoy our meals when we go out otherwise I'd have gone to McDonald's.
Well the lovely waitress seen we wasn't happy and seated us on the seating away from the families. What a lovely thoughtful person. Food was excellent all staff friendly and attentive and helpful.
Could not fault it.
J. M. M.
Buffet breakfast, carvery style. Great value, got the biggest plate (7.00) as I'm a tub. My wife got the standard plate (6.00) and we ended up with about the same amount of food but I enjoyed the extra plate room. You can order as much as your heart desires (or can take as it's sausages and bacon ahoy). All nice for breakfast stuff, bottomless tea and coffee (coffee was a good surprise, filter coffee and a bit of flavour there). Setting is great, really spacious inside or outside sit at the well spaced out tables with brellas. There's a light aircraft field nearby so get to watch them taking off whilst you dine which is a nice novelty. Would definitely be back but it is a lunch killer- you won't be hungry till tea time. Staff were really nice. Enjoy!

We have always loved the carvery and ice creams, but we never managed to get a cake. I've wanted to try them for ages, as they look lovely. As it happened, last month I was feeling upset and went to try the chocolate snickers cake. It was delicious and the piece was massive, so you get a lot for your money. I also took some cake away for my friend, she needed cheering up, too. Worked a miracle! Thank you Barley Farm.
S. L.
Always have a great time at barley farm on Tuesday Night for the quiz, we are always greeted with a friendly face on entry and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. They always make me smile especially Chris, who always has a smile on his face. The food always lives up to our expectations and the service is always quick especially now when using the app which I find really easy to use 😀
S. T.
Went for breakfast, and the food was lovely and fresh and the bacon was cooked to perfection. Was served by a friendly staff member called Tony who made the experience welcoming. Will be coming back in very soon.
D. L.
Very pleased this time as the food was hotter ...
I. B.
Me and my boyfriend came here for first time and aren't disappointed at all! Good was so delicious! Also price for what you get are really good. Portions large, we couldn't even finish everything. Service were fast and super friendly aswell. Will be back!
d. j.
Well what can I say apart from going 3 times in one week. Staff very friendly and always have time to help, food is amazing but definitely go on an empty stomach as the portions are very generous, but make sure you save room for pudding. Fully recommend this place to anyone from couples to families. Excellent service every time I have been. Keep up the fantastic work!! Will see you soon no doubt
J. M.
Just had a lovely meal here, staff were friendly, food was delicious and hot. Great prices too, will definitely be back 👍
C. M.
Great place, great food but the staff too the experience
All the staff are great especially Ashlee, Beth Yvonne, Chris and Danielle
Thanks again guys see you every Friday and keep this cakes coming 🙌
E. M.
Came in today for a quick carvery, the bar person was very pleasant think her name was Stacey and meat was carved by dec always nice to feel welcomed
B. S.
Visited Barley Farm for the first time this evening with my husband. Lovely food, and lovely service. Staff very helpful when an old one like me isn’t great on these new apps! Served by a friendly young girl named Chloe. Made the visit even more pleasant! Will definitely return soon.
T.
Great little local carvery, reasonably priced pint and great selection of desserts, carvery meat was pretty nice, vegetables and sides taste homogeneous though. Would eat here again, there's a nice looking set menu to try so would probably come back. Kids area is good, could do with an upgrade but seems fit for purpose.
C. C.
Carvery are what they are, this one is no different, meats well cooked, vegetables were a little under cooked, a big fav are roast parsnips and potatoes which didn't disappoint, service was friendly and attentive, would I come here again? Yes I would
A. P.
Super friendly staff, accommodated our staff Christmas meal with 50+ of us. Carvery was as good as always - massive range of veg and sides. Staff were super patient with us when bringing out the desserts as we forgot what we'd ordered but they were very gracious. Bar staff were friendly too, taking the time to try and sort out my all time favourite drink of R Whites Pear and Elderflower - alas not in stock but they helped all the same. Got £5 off for next time which I look forward to using!
D.
The staff were so nice on this impromptu visit. Even considering the current circumstances, it was a really pleasant experience. The food was hot and tasted good. The restaurant was spotless and cleaning materials were on hand if required. Plenty of parking was available.
D.
Fantastic effort for Halloween, Ham & Eggs perfect! No surprise that's its amazing again, its what we have come to expect now! Good atmosphere and great quality food from staff who genuinely care! Thanks to Yvonne and Chris.
P. K.
This place is a family favourite.
The food is decent, not amazing - typical carvery fayre and standard - but really very good.
The kids area isn't as good as some places but definitely up to standard, the kids enjoy themselves but the two things that are really standout are the staff, delightfully cheerful and very child friendly and the deserts... If you're thinking of trying this place and are a desert person, don't think any more. Just go.
G. S.
Honestly the best carvery I have been too.
The quality of the roasts and the range of accompanying vegetables surpassed all previous carvery experiences.
The place was immaculate and the staff were attentive and friendly.
I was served by Lee at the carvery stand and the service from him was just excellent. He gave me a choice of cuts from the three roasts and informed me of the contents of the various vegetable dishes.
Great place I recommend.
K. I.
The pub quiz is great, the food is exactly what you’d expect (take that how you will) huge portion sizes though so we’ll worth the money
G. W.
Went yesterday was really looking forward to to, service was great can’t fault the staff but the car very was so salty it’s all we could taste. Would go back again but just order off the menu next time.
D. P.
A lovely pub with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff plus decent food. But before you go make sure Salford aren't at home cos the pub will be full of rugby fans before kick off.
h. a.
Hands down the best carvery I've ever had and believe me I've tried a few. Well worth trying it. I can't believe the 4 star and below reviews as the experience I had was perfect from start to finish. Next time though I'd better not be so greedy and eat a little less. Currently feel like I'm going to pop
M. M.
Traveled from Leeds to try this Toby location as part of our trip to the nearby Trafford Shopping Centre. Was not let down. We went for the breakfast and it was a lot better than offered in Leeds. It also included black pudding, which the Leeds locations don’t offer ! (We have tried Horsforth in Leeds & also Bruntcliffe lane Toby in Leeds)
K. S.
We got there and to say it was Saturday the place wasn't too busy. The food was OK but the roast potatoes were rubbery and my partner had gammon and the pineapple tasted like it had perfume on it. We mentioned it to one of the girls who disappeared and never came back. The service by the staff was faultless and apart from the potatoes and the pineapple it was OK
L.
We had an amazing time here today. The festive menu was absolutely delicious. We picked a bad time to go right after a rugby match so it was quite busy so took us a while to get our orders but we didnt mind and had a laugh. Lovely kind staff. Maybe understaffed a bit could do with more manpower.
B. S.
Aaawesome cakes are the best and the Sunday roast is a must
S. S.
Came into Barley Farm this evening and was greeted by a lovely gentleman! I believe his name was Dean. He was very polite and informative about the new restrictions. We were told to order via the Greene King app, which was super easy to use... mostly! For the bits I struggled with (I’m a first time user) a lovely server named Chloe was eager to help! Very polite and helpful young lady! Also, their new covid cleaner Laura was very friendly too! When the food arrived, it was amazing! Me and my wife had a fantastic meal! 10/10 and we will return soon!
B.
Delicious carvery beautifully cooked, lovely and fresh. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely return!
I. M.
Buffet breakfast was standard fayre, the large was to much plate unless you don't want to eat for the rest of the day.
Clean tables clean toilets nice venue.
D. M.
Good 😋😋
Hi it's Dave millward replying to your request as to why I didn't leave 5 stars the reason being the beans were like soup, no eggs or toast ready at 09.30 & I think that warrants a 4 star thank you very much
L. G.
Delicious food and great service. Staff made my family feel very welcome. Would definately visit again.
H. W.
Well what do we have here is that pork pH yes it is it must be Christmas all 4 meats to choose from and the chef lee was very happy always has a smile on his face everytime we come in
D. S.
Had a lovely time at Barley Farm! Carvery was delicious and the cakes looked amazing! The team were so friendly and made us feel welcome and safe - will definitely return!
B. G.
We came in for a takeaway box and were served by Lee who was lovely and the food was decent for the price. So much so we came on Sunday to sit in. The service this time was sub-par we had to ask if we were allowed to go over to the carvery after a 40 minute wait and the servers (not Lee) were rude and seemingly had no clue what they were doing. They food was bang average but it was all in the wrong proportions nobody wants 15 parsnips and then 2 laddles of stuffing. In short sub par service, questionable food, give Lee a raise.
S. T.
Just had a carvery here at Barley farm. The beef was beautiful so tender and the variety of veg is awesome. So much choice compared to other carveries. Staff very attentive. We arrived at 12:00 and the place was already busy. Had a look at main menu also and there appears to be a good selection of main meals and desserts. Would highly recommend this place for quality of food and price. We are looking to go here for Christmas lunch as well
C. M.
Ate here today 2nd December, opted for the roast which I have to say was delicious and very happy with the quality and taste.
Unfortunately my son had the steak and ale pie, before ordering he asked if there was onions in it (never liked them) and was told by the chef and another member of staff an absolute NO, of course that incorrect, there was lots in there and he painstakingly picked them out, the main problem with that was if he had an allergy things could of turned out differently, there was no attempt to get the allergy book out for us to check the content of the pie so be very careful to mention to staff if anyone has allergies. Did tell a member of staff who just went off to mention it to the chef but no feedback what’s so ever. Yes we could of sent it back but we didn’t want a fuss, better communication is needed, would of been 5 stars other than that.
B. G.
Fantastic service and really great work ethic through this hard time from all the team! Manager Danielle was really helpful with all the new rules and the app. My daughter and I will certainly be returning again soon!
T. L.
Wheelchair friendly. There was 2 of us and our friend who is in a bariatric wheelchair. We phoned ahead but were assured that we wouldn't have to book. We got there about 3:30. The staff found us a table near the door with plenty of room. They were happy to lend us a non-slip tray for my friend. Every single member of staff were helpful, attentive and pleasant. The food was great. We had a stressful happy time.

Very helpful staff, lovely food and nice family atmosphere

Visited yesterday, first time and as a party of 30 including young children and babies for an early Xmas lunch with friends. Had a wonderful time. Food was great. Dessert was delicious. Service was well managed. Staff were attentive. Restaurant was clean. Overall very happy and feedback from the whole party was amazing. We will be visiting more often!! Thank you so so much!!

Loved it, first time for us but will definitely give it another whirl, all staff were great and doing a grand job.
L. R.
meet Carlo the baker tonight lovely lady.wow the black forest Cake was soo lovely I had a cheeky sample you really need to try it,one of the best cake 🍰 for me..keep them coming .xx
P. H.
On the Guinness alone I will be back, ill try food next time too. Even with the rugby crowd in, it still seemed a very nice place to go, the calm before the rugby storm
A. K.
Really lovely place to eat, bit hit and miss with the Carvery but really nice food otherwise
W. W.
Lovely carvery, very busy, lots of choice. Staff work really hard and have lots if patience. Just a bit too warm. All our party complained they were too hot. Wouldn't stop us going again though.
K. L.
I went for breakfast this morning with my husband and friends and as usual the food was delicious, it was piping hot and very fresh. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Chris and all his staff, they are always very helpful....I definitely recommend Barley Farm and that is why I gave it 5 stars.
S. L.
You get plenty with this carvery, and nicely prepared as well. Make sure you book at weekends as this place stays busy.
t. m.
Plenty of parking, very busy, recommended
G. A.
This is my third time. If you go early the buffet presentation is very good but when it gets very busy unfortunately the customers mess the food up using different spoons and spilling the food everywhere it puts me off. Also each time I go there is always food and cutlery on the floor and under tables. The chefs were very pleasant and helpful five stars to the chefs. Unfortunately the staff should be checking the eating areas more often and keeping tables and floors clean.
j. g.
Thanks to barley farm for making my sisters 60th birthday special .
Special thanks to paul who went above and beyond
A. B.
Very lovely carvery but roast potatoes could be improved. Otherwise all fine. Sprouts and swedes are excellent
D. T.
Enjoyed my meal very much, the carvery is good value. My only problem was the staff who cleared our table. It was obvious she had not been trained in any way, she piled the plates in a spilling way, she spilt the tub of salad dressing on the table didn't wipe it, then said to my daughter "past them plates down" not please or anything.
It can really put you off a return visit.
A. J.
Nice atmosphere lovely food , and staff exceptionally polite, will definitely be going back in the near future
T. W.
Visited for the first time today. Carvery nice, but the yorkshire puddings werent very good and the starter i had was only just warm. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cakes looked amazing though!
A. W.
Magic weekend is here 10 of us came for breakfast before we left for Newcastle upon arrival we was greeted by Beth she sat us down and we ordered breakfast with Paul we went up and served ourselves where Tommy the chef was putting fresh eggs out
K. W.
The food was lovely as usual. Service was very slow. We had starters and carvery. Our starter pots were not moved and had to get our own clean knifes and forks. A few children running and shouting. It was busy. Hasn't stopped us going again
L. B.
The carvery is fantastic. Great choice of meats including pork and gammon as well as piping hot veg. You can fill your plate to as much as you can hold. Kids meals are also good value and ours love the burger and chips with beans. Free ice cream die afterwards too😋. There is also a cake away or eat it in option for those with big appetites as these are amazing. You get a super sized piece of whatever takes your fancy and they are delicious. The kids play area is okay with a few game machines to keep them quiet... didn't notice if there was a play area outside which would be great on hot days. Lots of seating and booking for Sundays would be recommended.
S. T.
The only fault I found was the parsnips where greasy and hard, I work in catering and the carvery veg is normally of high standard. Chef used the same knife to cut all meets...not acceptable if you are a non pork eater for religious reasons. On a good note staff are friendly and service was good
s. J.
Great carvery, the cakes are amazing
J. L.
Popped in for the all you can eat breakfast. It was great! Defo will pop in again.
S. R.
Food is amazing! I am a fussy eater like that you can choose what goes on your plate. Reasonably priced and good selection of food. Save room for desert it's amazing. Portion size are huge so worth the money. Eat a little and save the rest for later.
A. P.
Wonderful, friendly welcome. Good food served promptly and with great charm by Andrea, our waitress. We sat eating, drinking and chatting while the kids were occupied in the play area. A great experience, we will return soon.
I. B.
It was lovely to be back as a family eating together for my wife's birthday. It was very well managed from entering to leaving the building with our cake aways. The food and service was excellent thank you barley farm
J. S.
Excellent quality good service pleasant surroundings good friendly atmosphere fair prices
H. H.
Big pub, lots of space, service good, food from the menu was excellent although disappointing that the mango & lime chicken thigh skewers were out of stock, I opted for the carvery, can't complain
L. D.
Absolutely amazing being at barley today went with my fiance and his friends we used the app which was really useful our drinks were served by courtney and Ciara and dev my fiance got a Carvery and we were served by Chris on there which was very helpful
P. W.
Lunch with Mum and Kids. Fast, friendly service. Meal was very hot, fresh and tasty!
P. H.
Long time since I've had a meal at one of the farm pubs. Standard menu pretty standard and prices are reasonable, majority of our party went for the carvery. Slow service at the bar for a Saturday lunchtime but seemed to be more walking around occasionally clearing tables. 4 different meats to choose from, but I've never seen such small portions and then I overheard a member of staff instructing the carver to slice the gammon thinner as that was the last joint. Any thinner and I would expect to see it on a slide under a microscope. Penty of veg to pile on your plate too make up for the lack of protein. Went to order desserts at what I thought was the dedicated till, after 5 minutes and several staff walking past one mentioned that they weren't using that till and I had to order from the bar, ice cream and cakes you order and collect when paying but one dessert was prepared and brought to the table after nearly 15 minutes.
Overall food was reasonable for the prices, but I think the service let things down
J. S.
Went for breakfast this morning ....and was an standard bog type meal , which is what i expect to be honest an improvment than pre lockdown.
Pre lock down i had to return an egg benedict, in which i got an attitude from the kitchen manager .....
Gladly today hecwas not in kitchen .
The standard was better and no need to return the food .
But sadly we bought a "cakeaway" bakewell slice ...i have took a photo ...showing the sponge is not cook through and it was all dense and not edible the bottom layer sponge .
Surley when its sliced & packed the girls who do the cakes should spot and check the quality ????
Again usually i dont find faultvwith cakes but who ever over looks the standard needs to be more vigilant
The kitchen manager still cooking & serving carvery meats passed its use by date????
F. L.
Been a great fan of barley farm. Unfortunately my recent visit very disappointed. Got there about 1700
Sunday the place was rammed. Small
children running around. My partner
had the carvery. I elected to have fish &
Chips. Had too wait for that not surprised
by that. However the fish was dry think that
it had been recooked! The batter was burnt!
The licence as just change hands! Will go
again & put in another review!!! So watch
this space!!! 🤔
j. n.
Reasonable pub grub, pretty cheap, the kids menu is fairly healthy (not all chicken nuggets and chips). Staff a really friendly & we're great cleaning up after my 9month old who had chucked half his dinner on the floor. Cool cakeaway and ice cream selection.
C. O.
No reason for any less stars. I was working from here for the day due to a later appointment in the area and upon my arrival the staff and manager were quick to understand my needs and found me a quiet out of the way table with sockets and told me to give him a shout if I needed anything whilst reassuring me that my car was fine to be parked for the day. He brought over my drink and when I was ready for food later in the day I opted for the carvery which was spot on as I find in most Farmhouse Inns. I actively go out of my way to locate a Farmhouse Inn due to the hospitality mainly, so it's always an all-round pleasurable experience.
S.
Very helpful staff. The food was lovely. There is a good range of vegetables and salad in the carvery section. We went for a lunch and the place starts to fill up around 1.00pm so we go early.
S. H.
Busy carvery that's of average standard. You can also order from a limited menu which seems to be quick and adequate enough. Bar staff take drink orders as well as selling the carvery tickets, which can produce a bottle neck in both bar and food service.
Y. F.
Fabulous service, great food. Always happy to accommodate. Can't beat the carvery and cake.
J. R.
Good location, friendly layout, children's area, interesting menu with special deals for over 60s. Menu includes various options on starters, mains and desserts. Carvery today offered turkey, gammon and beef. Sadly, my turkey today was flavourless and watery. When I mentioned this, I was offered alternatives.
I. A.
Great place to eat with lovely staff. Always come down to eat when we're in the area. Kade and Molly always gives us fantastic service!
C. S.
Really good food friendly staff
M. E.
Good pub with nice food. It's a busy place and only 2 staff on the tills so the queue was very long. Was a bit frustrating as I had to queue up again to get the ice Cream which came with my daughters meal as it was only served from the same till area where everyone else was ordering their food/drink
A. C.
Came in today for a roast, brilliant as always, most helpful young man behind the bar Lewis, very knowledgeable about his gins and suggested it try a pink gin with lemonade, will definitely becoming back
M. J. C.
Just had a Super meal here at the Barley Farm and Lee the Chef is honestly Fantastic! What a dedicated employee who really wants to please. Thank you for continuing to serve consistently high quality food for very reasonable prices.
L. H.
Lovely experience yesterday evening. Food good & plenty of choice. All Staff friendly & helpful in particular the guy serving the Carvery & Chris who took our order and looked after us going above and beyond to help celebrate my nephews birthday. Thank you. X
S. H.
Absolutely spot on yet again, cudnt fault it, thoroughly enjoyed myself with my mum in law n sister in law, chicken platter starter, hunters chicken mains n side of onion rings, cut even finish it, take away pudding for definite lolxx
J. A.
Food excellent Sunday dinner ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
D. R.
Great place for a family meal, or just a a casual drink. Children's play area available for you to be able to enjoy your meal and have the kids enjoy themselves with the facilities available. Carvery is on every day and is good value and the main menu has some good options also. Outside seating available for when the sun comes out. Occasionally it can be very busy so it's better just to call them and see how busy they are and maybe book a table to save dissapointment.
K. H.
Been quiet a lot as this establishment is quiet local. Lovely atmosphere and staff food is brilliant never had a bad meal even carvery is beautiful . Sooo much nicer than its other establishment juniper farm. Highly recommended X suitable for all ages and is also a designated children and family dining area with play equipment and activities for the little ones . Separate adult dining .. very highly recommend X well done to all staff... Keep up the hard work you are all amazing ...
B. I.
Meats in carvery is allright rest of vegetables where hard and tasteless
C. R.
Absolutely amazing place!!! Cakes are gorgeous and the carvery is so good!!! Have had some amazing times here! Staff are great and I can't wait for lockdown to be over so we can visit again!!
B. H.
Had dinner here today with my son and daughter in law. But the sausages were advertised as pork but were pork and leek served in a giant York pudding not S thought as sausage and mash sausages tasted awful so put my son off the rest of the meal. Why not simplify the menus and use genuine PORK and not in a giant inedible York pudding, I had to ask for a steak knife to cut through mine.sorry did not enjoy the meal and left quite annoyed.
S. C.
Lovely on a Sunday, however in the week carvery was really bad. Everything was stale and no roast potatoes
H. S.
Was excellent called in today (Sunday) the staff found us a table even though was super busy and had an excellent carvery which was delicious cannot reccomend enough will definitely be back in future 🙂
H. S.
Welcomed by staff safely and shown to table. Carvery was fantastic completely up to same excellent standard. Served by pleasant friendly staff. Very enjoyable experience.
L.
First time I have been here and I havnt got a bad thing to say about it! Its lovely inside and really big (which I like) we had a carvery and absolutely no complaints, service was great, food was nice and there was so much choice. Can't wait to go back!
K. R.
Great service, staff and good value for money. Also with all the new covid restrictions in place it still felt like the pub normally would and was so easy and smooth. Easy to order and pay on the app too.
J. S.
Went for the first time last week. Did not make a comment until been for 2nd time. Went for dinner today and again had the carvery. Outstanding!!!. Very pleasant staff and clean environment. Certainly visiting again and will recommend.
S. F.
Came for a Sunday carvery and couldn't fault a single thing, great service by Beth and Denise who greeted us when we arrived. Will be back soon
L. K.
Greeted ar the door by lilly very friendly and showed us to are table Yvonne was excellent when it came to taking are order for the cavery and courtney I believe her name was brought our drinks over with a smile and laughter overall a great experience will definitely returning soon👍
E. W.
Had a sit down lunch with my friend, chose the carvery muffin with gravy & roast potatoes, bit heavy on the stuffing but the muffin was nice none-the-less, potatoes were cooked for far too long and were far too big! Like a peeled potato not quartered was really tough. Waitress was lovely, apologised and offered more potatoes but we had finished eating so she offered us free drink instead - had a piping hot latte which was perfect. I will go again because I really like the place ☺ I do recommend!
I. S.
Me and my mates come here quite a lot. Often we have been for breakfast, which is a buffet style at the weekends. The staff are brilliant, and there are often extra events on such as live music and tribute acts. The cakes are amazing, and large slices - enough for two to share that's for sure! For summer they have some cider slushes right now, which are novel and great to enjoy in the heat. There is a little kids play area, which is handy for those who would love the kids to amuse themselves at times. Can be a bit tricky getting there on days the rugby is on, otherwise I think it is a great value place to go visit if you can.

Foods always nice and fresh, and a friendly warm welcome everytime, even when it gets busy

Did not expect one of the best burgers I have ever had! went on Saturday 14th April before the match. It was the first time we had been and we will certainly be going again! Staff where attentive in the nicest way, I have been to some very 'up-market' restaurant's and not had that standard of service! really impressed!

A good quality carvery and if you're here to watch Sale Sharks play in the Rugby it's a 5 minute walk to the ground. The parking is free as well as long as you buy something in the pub. The pudding's looked amazing as well, but we were stuffed after the carvery.

Best carvery I’ve had in a long time. Amazing cake and ice cream options which you can take away (perfect when your belly is full but you still want a treat for afters!)

Thank you to our lovely server Erin for making our visit through this time as enjoyable as pre Covid. We were not disappointed and Erin was attentive and helpful guiding us through the current changes to the visiting rules. Thank you Erin. Well done Barley Farm.

Fab food, best service, delicious carvery, we enjoyed it so much.
Thank you very much Manager Chris, Chef Tomson and the full team for the great service!!!😃😃👍

Only spoiled by some broken toys in the children's play area, including one with a cracked piece of plexi-glass that could have injured a small child.

As always very clean and excellent service and choice of meats and also vegetables. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food. However, get here early especially on match days to make sure you get a table.
F. O.
Very popular place, good carvery or option to choose from the menu. Really good choice of ice cream with about 15 different flavours, which are really tasty. It also has a children's play area which is separate from the rest of the restaurant
R. L.
Came here for the 1st today best carvery I have had the pleasure of. Really enjoyed unfortunately I was too full to even consider dessert but cakes to go looked great and good selection of ice cream we will be back!
D. S.
Amazing staff who couldn't be more helpful.
I always feel safe coming here with all the COVID-19 safety measures put in place to protect customers.
Couldn't be more happy with the setting and value for money.
M. D.
Bit long to wait during week days for ordered food but when it comes it’s just fantastic ! Carvery could be slightly more meet and less potato based veggies but in general 5star for it ! Taste wise too much from frozen but... it’s ok ;)
M. G.
Amazing service came in today for a carvery. good selection on cavery. And all the staff where lovely especially beth
S. V. D.
I went here on a somewhat disasterous date, was her choice :p.
The carvery had run out of Turkey, with a huge queue, by the same we got to the actual food bar they only had Gammon Left and was a waiting time for anything not beige i.e. Veg.
My date didn't seem too fussed but I opted for the standard menu, which was brought on a huge plate, a plate that seemed overly large for the amount on it. It wasn't a small portion but it didn't fill the plate so looked sparse.
The staff seemed ok, the desserts looked lovely but I didn't indulge, date rules and all that.

Very good place for a family to go they have a great Carvery plus there a lot more meals they do plus they do children's meals and good Beer
B.
E reasonably enjoyable carvery meal. The food was hot, tasty and with plenty of choice of meats and vegetables. It was only let down slightly by the poor presentation of some of the meats which was not so much in slices but more in messy bits.
A. B.
Just had another fantastic experience at Barley Farm. Lovely food and pudding and a special shout out to Amanda who was super friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive despite the place being very busy. The chap on the carvery was also super nice and very jolly. Always a pleasure dining here. Thank you

I have been left with no option but to re-evaluate this venue as to the steady but undeniable decline in both food and staff.
Dirty highchairs, tables and under table areas. None of the advertised ice-cream available.
In all a real let down of an evening only worsened by the obnoxious staff member who took my order, Laura. Thanks for letting me know not to come back Laura. I'll go to the Applewood Farm instead!

Food was fantastic today. Much improved on our last visit about 7 months ago. Kitchen was so fast, the food was out before our drinks
M. P.
Lovely meal with the family 11 in total food was hot and tasty and all was served together for us well done Barley Farm
S. L.
Visted twice in 2 weeks, both visits with a large party, straight in and seated in 5 minutes. Excellent choice of foods and reasonably priced. If you like cake then the "cakeaway" is right up your street!
C. B.
Service was a little slow today and although the food was very good, the sweet was delayed due to being frozen. The staff had not prepared early enough and although it had been in the oven for 5 mins, the apple crumble was still cold in the middle.
V. W.
A great place to visit on match days for the sharks good selection of beers 🍻 friendly staff and excellent food, keep up the good work 👏.
L. J.
Love this place been quiet a few times the carvery is always good. I would also recommend a farmhouse burger or the steak pie. They serve a few real ales and have a good selection of drinks. You can not go here without getting a cakeaway! They are to die for
S. S.
Took 10 family members on boxing day the meal and service was good no one could manage a dessert there was a great cake away choice so everyone took a cake home. I'm coeliac so can't eat wheat, a waitress called Taylor made me a gorgeous meringue nest which has no gluten listed in the ingredients but can't be classed as a gluten free dessert for obvious reasons, it was gorgeous thanks Taylor
S. A.
The food is always really good staff are always giving the customers excellent service
b.
Ordered a breakfast which was lovely and tasty! Barley Farm is very COVID aware, which makes me feel safe whenever I come here! Ordering on the app is super easy! I'll be back
C. W.
OK chain, zero personality, took an age to get served at 6.30 on a quiet Wednesday. Expensive too. Seem to focus on the carvery and food more than drinks and atmosphere.
n. m.
Food is always nice here.free parking and disabled access..at busy times its abit slow but all in all a very family friendly place to visit..
b. c.
Had the Carvery there today, the Roast Beef was very nice there was plenty of vegetables to choose from, the carrots, cauliflower, parsnips, mashed potatoes were all hot and tasty the Carvery counter was well presented and the staff although very busy were very attentive would recommend a visit.
L. T.
This place has really improved the last 6 months. The carvery is so much nicer. I go quite often now. Staff friendly, big menu

Excellent friendly service on a very busy evening. The carvery as good as ever and the (vegan) chocolate tarte is to die for if you like rich dark sumptuous chocolate.

T. W.
Greated by a lovely woman at the front, who I assume was the manager. Staff were good, food was good. I would definitely go again, as its better than other Greene King pubs...
C. F.
Never been to this restaurant before it was fantastic. The carvery was divine and were the cakes!
J. H.

Just been to this pub this afternoon. ( Thursday 27th of July) Usually go to it's sister venue Applewood farm. Not very impressed with Barley fam. Had the mixed grill. Chips were over cooked. I do like them like that. But they had been cooked for a while and were only warm. Onion rings over cooked. Egg over cooked. Having been in catering myself for 14 years. These things can be cooked just before it's about to be served. Got a cake away fudge cake with cream. No cream when I got it home. Also the ice cream we got with my son's cake away had a hair in it. The thing I want to mention is the service. Their is a member of staff called Amanda who treated us like we were the only people in the restaurant. Even brought the extra drinks over that I couldn't carry. She should be the manageress. Very impressed.
So I don't think I'll be going back there again. Shame because it's closer to my home. You need to get better kitchen staff to make this pub better. I can see I'm not the only one to complain. So you need to fix this asap. Or are you not bothered.
B. S.
Nice food at a good price great for when you want a big healthy meal and don't fancy cooking. You can also take your carvery home with you if you fancy a night in and the dessert menu is very tasty.
N. B.
The carvery is probably one id the best you could possibly go to and great selection of vegetables and meats. Also the menu has alternatives to the carvery. Excellent cake choices to take ot or eat in.
C. M.
2nd visit here in few weeks. Fabulous carvery. Sadly am usually too fuul to experience the delicious looking desserts. But you can cake away. Maybe next time as will definately be back.

Food is good qualty for the price bracket. Staff are superb, allways helpfull. Play area for the kids, and Friday night kids disco was good too. Gave 3 star last time because of one of the kids meals, but after last night's meal they deserve 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Some veg on the dry side but its reasonably priced. Staff very pleasant and asked if everything was ok.
A. R.
Carvery was lovely although we did have to wait for a long time for service. Only one person on the bar on a Saturday afternoon
T. B. C.
Staff were brilliant & on the ball every step of the way & couldn't help enough. For a last minute decision to stop in, it was well worth it.

Food is just about OK. When I had carvery everything tasted the same, very bland. Have tried food off menu, but wouldn't rave about it. Better places to go.
