Great local boozer, just moved into the area very welcoming staff. It was a Monday so bogof on burgers which are massive. This will be my new local and it's a belter.

Seemed like a lovely local family pub. I visited with a friend for lunch and even though we were 2 of 10 people it took over 30 mins for 2 sandwiches. The food quality was to be expected, nothing to write home about. The slow service did let this place down imo

There's currently a deal on for half price main courses Monday to Wednesday so my friend and I thought we'd try it. They don't do pizzas anymore, but there was a good selection of mains including burgers, fish and chips, all day breakfast, Thai Red curry, mac n cheese, chicken dishes. My friend had prawn salad and I had a plant based burger, which came with fries and onion rings. Not bad for under £5 each meal. You order at the bar and they bring the food to you quite quickly afterwards. Really nice experience.

Really positive dining experience 😀 The new post-Covid menu is much more varied than the previous “pizza and burger” menu (which was also very popular in its own right). There’s now “something for everyone”, I particularly liked the Desperado burger with curly fries. The staff are both welcoming and attentive. Great for families as well with outdoor dining at the rear. I’d highly recommend a visit 😀

Lovely place to stop for a drink, ma says they make the best shandies. Nice garden area, some small areas that could use a little clean but they're very few and far between. Tables are lovely and well maintained, staff are brilliant and friendly.

First time I've been in since it was renovated and what a change. The inside is bright, clean and spacious. Stylish seating inside and plenty of outdoor seating to the side and back. Friendly staff and a good selection of beer. The pizzas looked delicious and it's also dog friendly. Definitely somewhere I'll be visiting again.

i love this place! it is my local pub, the staff are all really warm and friendly they can't do enough for you. The landlord is brilliant always makes an effort with people that come in. food is great freshly cooked pizza's are lush! and the place in general is lovely with a really friendly atmosphere.

It always seems cold in there, as if the air conditioning is on too high. I've been there a few times, and it's often the same problem. Once we asked if the air conditioning could be turned down or off, which the landlady duly did, but then she put it back on again 10 minutes later. All this was forgiven however as the breakfasts have always been good value, that is until our last visit. I had a veggie breakfast which for some strange reason had less beans, mushrooms and tomatoes on it than the full English! Logic would suggest surely that they would supplement those “veggie” elements of the meal, not reduce them. On the same visit we ordered and paid for 3 extra coffees at the end of the meal. These never arrived. Eventually I went to the bar and asked where they were. The lad at first couldn't find any record of them, so he asked the landlady, who ignored him. When he eventually got her attention and found our order, she just said, “oh sorry, we ran out of cups!” Really? The place didn't look that full to me. Nice building and good prices, but they need to improve their customer service.

We've been here 2 days in a row now they must be doing something right! Mate of mine told me they have 2 for 1 pizzas on Monday. The staff were so friendly accommodated all our requests. Yesterday I noticed they do all day breakfast so decided to try it out. Met chef James today, he happily made eggs Benedict for me on request. My friend who also intended to have breakfast changed her mind as soon as she saw someone else having a burger. I initially had reservations about having a pub lunch but the ambience so pleasant. No smell of ale & to my surprise it's a dog friendly establishment. Fresh tasty food, generous portion sizes, free muffin with coffee!! We will be coming back soon for sure.

Come here all the time. Food is great and it's a nice pint to. Always enjoyed watching the match here until last time when all the bar staff laughed when Newcastle scored against United! The bar staff can support whoever they want but it's pretty trashy celebrating when the place is packed with United fans! If it wasn't for this would be a 5* for sure....Work on your etiquette guys!

We keep having hit and miss visits here - the food is really good, and most of the time it’s decent service. But occasionally they forget part of your order or you can see your order on the counter waiting to be brought out for 5-10 minutes. Like I say, food is good - smallish selection but very good quality and the pizzas, in particular, are excellent - but if they could iron out the kinks in their service they would have got an extra star here.

Nice pub. Went in for a coffee with my daughter and grandson. Am a dog lover but next table was allowing the dog on the furniture which i did not like. Dog also went near my grandson and i asked them to move it. Bit dissapointed that this was allowed.

Beautiful Pizza pub. Authentic dough crisped to perfection generously topped with magnificent layers of mushrooms, cheese and herbs and olives. Live music abounds. We had an Elvis Tribute band on and they were blasting out the usual classics. It's off the beaten track so if staying in central Manchester you might need a taxi there and back

Very busy large pub which has a buzzy atmosphere. For anyone... tables ranged from families to couples to groups. We had pizzas to eat and they were lovely really enjoyed them. Drinks a little expensive and they had 2 real ales.

Super venue. Lovely staff and delicious hand-made pizzas, reasonably priced. And as a special extra, 2 for one on Mondays. The coffee beats that of the high-flown coffee houses of the high street. Try it - you'll like it.

Well the times have changed within all are community's and to find a safe place to spend some relaxing time with friends during this terrible pandemic WELL now you have. The Bird inth hand Urmston supports a really safe system enter through the front door order drinks food easy card payments retire to the really good bear garden for families including your children an the staff support a really great table service . This is one place you need to try out for yourself , my few words of encouragement don't do this public house justice. So try it out safely and don't forget the table service now we pay with cards there tips have disappeared. Have a great time.

Just enjoyed another 'could'nt fault' lunch at The Bird.The Covid precautions in place were spot on.The effort to keep customers safe had to seen to be believed.I jokingly suggested to my wife that we 'keep moving' or else risk being sprayed and being wiped down (2 or 3 times).I really feel for all concerned with this pub that it will count for nought when when announcements are made on Monday.Les Kinsey.

Revisited since the full refurbishment in November 2016. Nice and cosy inside with booths and higher height tables. Disappointing cask ales with only two on offer. Food was lovely though - they specialise in freshly made pizzas which were very tasty.

The bird is a buzzing place these days....its a shame that the menu is restricted to pizzas and burgers and other Italian type sandwiches etc .....The food is however good and they do a Sunday lunch. ...The drinks are expensive but beer kept well.

One of the friendliest and most welcoming pubs I have visited, if you like real ales Darren keeps the lines perfectly and changes the selection often. Pets are welcome in the games room, don't be put off by the appearances a rough diamond of a place once visited you will come back.
