Reviews of City Road Inn
Lovely city centre pub with real heart. Great friendly staff and landlady. Thanks so much Kay! We’ll be back soon! (And the best Guinness I’ve tasted in Manchester!) 😍
We recently used this place for my son's Stag do, we were well received by everyone and the bar staff Nicky and K especially, good pint and excellent food
Called in on our way back to the hotel. Lovely welcome. The landlady (?) takes an interest in everyone and is happy to have a chat.
Great pub
The bar maid was the best she made us feel welcome and went far beyond her role as bar made
The management should be very grateful they have her. She is a gem
Great pub to watch the football or any other sport in, lots of screens including a huge projector and 80" screen in the back room with the ability to show multiple games/sports at once. With easy to talk to and knowledgeable staff, serving a selection of great pies sourced from Pieminister, it makes for a friendly local in the city centre.
Good bar bar staff great atmosphere very good warm and friendly pub next time in Manchester wii be popping in for a good pint
There were at least 8 screens showing two live football matches when I arrived. Drinks are well priced, staff are efficient and friendly. Nice atmosphere. Only had drinks here but it does serve food.
If your Heading into Manchester town centre this is a great traditional pub to call in for a pint. Excellent bar staff who were friendly and quick to serve. The landlady Kate was also great to have a chat with. Overall highly recommended.
Extremely friendly, great service, beat price within the Manchester area. Hygiene 100%
First drink in manchester for my 30th birthday weekend with my friends and Kay the bar lady was more than welcoming, friendly and very HELPFUL! Put was clean, and I mean VERY clean! Smelt lovely 🥰 would defo pop back, especially to see Kay. Thanks for the laughs
Cracking banter good pies never had a bad time here. Always feel welcome
Had moo blue pie, absolutely banging. Great beer too.
Nice pub, good selection of beers, also have pie minister pie and mash
Well, Another nice place for a quite drink and football on the screen.
Old-fashioned pub good atmosphere, strong smell of sewage outside
A few scoops before the gig. Great traditional pub.
Great pub definately added to my list, we could actually have a conversation as the music wasn't deafening. Fantastic range of ales and spirits. Especially Whiskey. Staff were lovely too.
Great place for a quiet drink... I highly recommend the pies ☺️
A proper boozer (the only one we found) in Manchester City centre. Fabulously warm welcome from the guvnor, with table service and banter. Absolutely loved the experience 👍
Lovely pub, golf balls will be taken
Nice pub, lovely staff. Unfortunately couldn't sample one of the pies due to a failed delivery. But a pizza was good substitute!
Really enjoyed our quick drinks in here. Really friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Proper Victorian interior too! Will be back soon.
The beers are excellent and the pies are top notch, you cannot go wrong. This pub takes me back to when times were good. It has an authentic atmosphere, the staff are very accommodating and chatty and everything about the place makes one feel cosy and warm. I hope it never changes because we need pubs like this to be part of our legacy. Great for watching football too.
1st time in and will be there again soon . Interesting interior and chilled. Was early visit and not busy. On a Sunday.
Lovely friendly bar staff made me feel very welcome. Great pub with an authenticity that's rare to find these days. Prices are a bit steep £5.10 for a pint of Hip House is a bit steep. Just round the corner i at the Gas Works you can find a pint of locally brewed ale for £4 but it ain't brewed but Guinness but that's what I'm paying for with Hop House
Great pub ,Nice peeps ,good service,2x pints of real ale dizzy blonde 8.90,but thats in keeping with City Center prices,I pay 2.70 a pint in littleborough
Great pub lively area👍

Seems like a 'proper' pub. No frills, bit dark and dingy but friendly staff and plenty of seats. Nice beer/ale (guest ale) and two others along with the usual lager stuff. Not bad price for a city (£3.50 pint). Menu consisting of pies, not bad prices but don't go here for food if you're vegetarian. Across the road is up-market/trendy bar's by the comedy store but if you prefer a more real place (and cheaper) this is good.
Nice pint, friendly staff, footy on big screens and do a cracking pie and mash. What's not to like? Recommended
Nice wee pub, lots of screen for sports, great selection of food an drinks..
Lovely traditional pub. Friendly landlady. Very welcoming.
This place is so welcoming, it has a range of known beers, gins, vodkas and drinks on drafts that EVERYONE will know, yet there is always a drink will suit your needs with a suitable price 😊😊. Kay (the loveliest, kindest, most out going person you will ever meet ❤️, and Pat & Matty are the best and friendliest bartenders i have ever met. They always make you feel you right at home 😊🍻🍹
I highly highly highly highly recommended going to the City Road inn.
Whenever you get the chance to visit Manchester/everyone should visit This place NOW i know you will enjoy yourself as much as i always do and stay a while and make many friends 😘😘😘
Please visit ASAP , its an amazing place 😊❤️
Great place for a pint and footie! Friendly staff!
One of the best pubs in Manchester. Friendly staff and landlady is genuinely happy to you see you after the lockdown. Quality local type pub.
One of the best pubs in town. Fine pint of Guinness, excellent range of pies and the staff are always super friendly. Great bar for an after work drink any evening of the week
Fantastic! Called in for food, bit they weren't doing any tonight but back on very soon. The landlady was so helpful, recommending laces I could get food from. So, I stopped for a pint! Well kept beer too! I will definitely come back next time I'm in town.
Good Pub Great atmosphere
Nice pub in town
Real down to earth pub, not a fancy wine bar, a proper beer serving pub.
Few and far between are real pubs these days. Real ales, a range of pies and a barmaid that knows the customers by name. We decided not to move on somewhere else because we were made to feel so welcome. Kay, the barmaid for 25 years was an absolute diamond and the banter with the regulars was fun.
I hope this place never changes. Its now usually a quiet pint on a Saturday afternoon, in stark contrast to sitting outside in the nineties, waiting for the madness to unfold.
Very nice pub with your average drink selection and very nice staff. Was pretty busy when we went but still ample space and seating. Great local pub atmosphere and karaoke which is always good entertainment. Definitely a pub I'd go back too.
Been drinking in here for over 20 years, I live in heywood but every time I come to town I make sure I come here, it is the very essence of Manchester and it will never be beaten, facing the old hacienda clun, now flats, the music acts that have popped in must be loads 🍻🥃❤✌
Nice to see proper beer on hand pull
Cosy Manc pub near Deansgate
Nice pub friendly staff just a shame didn't have drinks in that we wanted basic stuff but not very well stocked
Went for the lunch with my friend. We ordered something but they ran out. However they were nice enough to get a pie to be a substitute without needing us to pay anything extra. Not to mention that the pies were delicious aswell.
In a city where big, trendy bars are taking over is where you go for a chat with the locals or live sports. Just around the corner from Manchester Central Station.
Decent pub. Serves pies and shows sports.
Quick 1 or 2 round of drinks on our staff night out. Lady was very friendly and took some ace photos for us, good selection for a small cosy pub 😊
Great pub, friendly environment, great big screen for watching football. I went on a sunday and it was pretty quiet. Also has pool tables which makes this place ideal for chilling having a beer.
Nice pub very close to Deansgate train station. Good beer and award winning pies at reasonable prices for a city centre pub. Very friendly bar staff when we went.
Proper pub
How they used to be
Simply the best - Fantastic family run pub/hotel. Excellent service from bar staff and owner Kay. High quality recently refurbished room. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.
Staff nice a quaint pub not to busy relaxing
If you want a great pub with no hairs and graces come here this pub has so many memories and if walls could talk I bet it has a few story's lol. So if your ever in Manchester come it's part of our tradition.
Decent pub in the city centre (or just outside). Great choice of drinks, great atmosphere, friendly staff try to go in here whenever I am close by
Beer is well kept and better priced for Manchester. Quite an interesting place. Good to have a few more reasonably priced beers before you head into Manchester on a night.
Lovely old fashioned pub (how they should be) no hot drinks available but still a lovely atmosphere, great service would recommended to anyone looking for a decent pub
City Road Inn has the BEST pies i have had the pleasure of tasting thus far and Kate is a fantastic host!
Comforting atmosphere with reasonably priced drinks and really nice staff!
A very good experience and at reasonable prices. Clean and tidy an attentive staff. God selection of beers and some bar food.
Really friendly staff, nice atmosphere, on the expensive side (but normal for city centre), one of my favourite locals!
Great pup, great atmosphere, great staff, lots of draught beers available, reasonable prices, and fantastic pies a cut above the rest
