Amazing bar with a lot of cool toys and comics related decorations all over the place. Fans from Star wars, Aliens, and a lot more comics would really appreciate this bar. Will definitely go back and friendly staff. They also have arcade games and foosball table!

Great bar with lots on during the week. Used to come here all the time when I was a student, was nice to come back for a visit ten years later and find it just as awesome, with lovely staff. Drinks aren't overpriced like a lot of other bars nearby either and toilets are pristine. Plus Tuesdays they have retro consoles which are free to use so me and the other half sat playing retro PS2 games all night. Ace!

Cheap drinks. Unique bar with lots of vintage game displays. Pinball machine too. Some good themed nights listed too. Couple of live bands when we was there (bonus). No wheelchair access though. Stairs to get down into the bar and a few more down to the toilets too. Nice chilled atmosphere and not as packed as the other city centre bars. no snack menu or other food available is the only downside.

Echoing the review below of 'great place awful service', because this is one of my fave place in Manc for the music and fun atmosphere, this is always on my list. But i was really shocked by the service the past few times, very slow and staff are quite rude! We had 4 or 5 people served ahead of us when we were pleasently waiting for a while.... despite there being 5 bar staff (i could count i had a while to wait). I think the cocktails were taking a long time to create but the free drinks that were being handed to staff may have also been a factor. Defo come here to start the night, as this service put an end to ours.

Really good fun, spent a few hours in here and if we didn't have somewhere to be could have spent all night in here. Gets pretty busy but it's a big place so decent room. One of my favourite bars in Manchester. A quirky nerdy themed bar that screams retro. With arcade cabinets. Sci-fi memorabilia and brilliant music. With very friendly staff. Reasonably priced drinks and lots of different events going on throughout the year. A great selection of cocktails and other alcoholic drinks and classic tuck shop snacks. They sell fab memorabilia which is a great price and worth a look at. Only slight observation would be that the toilets are most certainly in need of some repairs and a touch up. As they seem to look like they haven't been touched since opening.

Lot's of fun and with a friendly atmosphere, Fab is essentially an 80's arcade with copious amounts of booze. Similar in style to TV21 but with a better crowd (the further from deansgate the better), Fab Café caters to a mix of customers both LGBT and straight with various age ranges. Doesn't take itself too seriously and is always cheerful. Not huge amounts of room, but otherwise fine.

I've spent that long in this place now that the bar staff have begun to pour me a drink before even getting to the bar, and I have to say that I love it. With a great balance of geek memorabilia and arcade games this place has everything a sci-fi lover could want. With the weekly showings of popular series's and cult classics, weekly quizzes and themed nights you can't go wrong.

Despite being an assault on the sense, it's pretty damn cool in here. They've got a load of cult references plastered along the walls and ceiling, and frequent evening events to keep the student crowd happy. It's not too expensive, so if you can manage to grab yourself a seat and don't mind a bit more bustle, it's a good place for a drink! Not the sorta' place you'd take your rents for a catch-up, though.

Absolutely love this place! First discovered it with an old friend, and sci-fi fan, ten plus years ago. Movie screenings are brilliant here, with the atmosphere already on hand you can just sit back and enjoy. Quiz night, fish finger Friday (does exactly what it says on the tin) and open early til... well, early - what could you want... Awesome decorations, from your favourite sci-fi? Done! Halloween is always a special time at Fab Cafe too, they never disappoint!

Great little gem in Manchester with a very unique decor. Have spent entire evenings just in that bar enjoying the arcade machines and then dancing when the DJ comes on playing loads of classics. Also has events on during the week and retro console set up to play. Only downside is it can get really packed.

Finally, a place with a character, an idea and passion! Comic book pages cover the tables and walls. There is a full height lifelike Xenomorph display, as well as memorabilia from cult sci-fi movies. Good attentive staff. Highly recommended!

This place is everything the other reviews say. It is kitch. It is tacky even. It is fun. It is cheap. It is sticky. It is a geek tourist spot. It has a tuck shop. It is, well, kinda fab. This place is slightly in danger of taking its loyal crowd for granted in that it needs some money spending on it and most of that needs to be spent on a bloody good scrubbing but it makes for a cheap and very cheerful night out. After all, where else can you watch Star Wars IV in several languages at once whilst dancing to 90s pop and drinking snakebite and black?

Great geeky hangout with sci-fi memorabilia everywhere including a Dr Who Tardis! They have great themed nights screening film and TV as well as pub quizzes and general night club setting at the weekend late night. Would recommend arriving after 8pm as before hand it can be very quiet and empty feeling.

This bar is somewhere where I would usualy walk staright past but as we were with a friend who knows Manchester better than I do he suggested we tried it out as he has had a few good nights in here (drunken ones...). We went in about 10pm and the place was pretty quiet so it lacked a little atmosphere. There is loads of cool memrobelia from various films...star trek, dr who etc. They also have a good selection of retro video games. Time crisis brings back many memories. The drinks were just ok, not bad but not excellent. I will probably come back here if i'm nearby but wouldn't make the trip across town just for here as it really isn't my type of place.

If you like sci-fi then you have to visit Fab at least once. The place is packed full of sci-fi memorabilia including a full size Tardis and a recreation of the bridge from the Enterprise which doubles as a DJ booth. They have screening nights where they show things like FireFly and WWE which are pretty good. It's perfect for a quiet drink in the early evening then it gets a bit busier and louder for dancing later on.

If you are a Sci-Fi geek go here now. If you have a bunch of geek mates and want to talk about Dr Who, GoT or debate Star Wars vs Star Trek this is the place for you. Music is great leaning to a 90's quasi Tarantino soundtrack feel with occasional cheese. Beer is reasonably priced, oh sweets and space raiders crisps on sale behind the bar for snacks, obviously.

Who doesn't like Fab? Granted it's not what it was back in the day (maybe something to do with the smoking ban?), but if you're lucky Tracy Barlow will let you take a selfie with her.... OK she isn't anymore but she'll always be Tracy Barlow to me, so there!

A down and dirty bar where you can get a cheap pint, especially during their early evening happy hours. The place is decorated with toys and other sci-fi paraphernalia, so if you're a fan of Dr Who, Star Trek (there's an entire life size replica of the Enterprise A's bridge in here!), Star Wars, Transformers, etc, etc get yourself down there for a cheap pint and some pining over the 80s relics in the display cabinets. Talking of cabinets there's also a few OK-ish 90s coin-op arcade machines like Point Blank where you can get your game on. I've also been in here whilst very drunk to have a dance, but there are far, far better places to go for that in central Manchester to be honest. They have nights to show Games of Thrones and other cult TV shows, but I have never been to one so couldn't comment on how good they are. They also tend to show wrestling Pay-Per-Views the Monday evening after they air live on the Sunday night, so if you're a WWE fan and don't have Sky you can have a drink and catch up if the mood so takes you.

A brilliant place for any lover of popular culture with a TARDIS, Alien, vintage PAC Man machine, Clanger, Dalek... well, you get the idea. You can play games on eighties consoles, stare at a veritable museum's worth of SF / horror / fantasy / comedy memorabilia or even have a drunken conversation with a cyberman. It used to be in Leeds and now it's here - a better poach than, say, Rio Ferdinand by some distance!
