Reviews of Fountain House

I had the pate to start which was nice, the pate it self lacked a bit of seasoning. Vegan Wellington was very pleasant. The head waiter was a lovely man, who was coping with a lot when I visited, lack of staff and no gas in the kitchen.

Finally somewhere has got it right! 100% Amazing "pub" food, better than what you'd expect without trying to be something it's not. Prompt friendly staff. Very reasonable prices. Comfortable seats! Simple ingredients blended in such a way to make amazing dishes. After talking to one of the waiters, we discovered everything is cooked from scratch. one of the best meals ourt we've ever had. If we return to Manchester again, we will definitely be calling here.

Lovely food and great service. Nice clean and welcoming atmosphere. Staff were very helpful with accessibility issues with my wheelchair and had a separate entrance with lift to get me inside. The menu was very interesting and lots of great options to choose from including the lunchtime options since it was midday when we were there. We had a great time with a lovely relaxed meal celebrating my daughter's graduation and would definitely go again. My daughter and her partner have been several times already and this is why we chose to go there to celebrate. Tasty food, relaxed atmosphere, would definitely recommend a visit and can also heartily recommend the beef hash brown. However we were told that the menu would be changing in the next few weeks so that's quite exciting to see what will be available then

Very pleased with our Mother's Day lunch here yesterday. The staff were friendly, especially the head waiter, thank you! Just the right amount of friendly conversation while letting us get on with our meal. Despite telling us they had a couple of problems that day, we were served quickly and had a great meal, barely noticing these problems. Much appreciated complimentary chocolate mousse for my mum, nice decoration, and delicious food. Both the mixed roast, and the sides of broccoli and chili, and cauliflower cheese, were delicious. The service really stood out, thank you!

My husband and I visited here and we had a great time. I had the scollaps and my husband had the sourdough and butter. For mains I had the charter pie, it was the nicest pie I have had in a while, my husband has the flat iron chicken. The portions are very big and very good value for money. Georgia served us and was so lovely and helpful.
We will be back

We have just returned from a wedding in Manchester Fountain House. I have nothing but praise for the staff and the venue. Every little thing was considered for my daughter's big day. These Guy's especially Nora went above and beyond in organising and ensuring everything went smoothly. The team on our day were superb and ensured Every little detail was covered. Excellent venue and absolutely fantastic staff.

I recently celebrated my 50th birthday with 80 guests.
We had a pre booked 3 course meal and used The Memorial Hall and Worthington suite.
From beginning to end a wonderful time was had by everyone.
The food was wonderful and the service was first class. A huge thank you to the team who worked tirelessly for the whole evening to make sure that the evening ran smoothly and to all involved who worked so hard leading up to the event.
J. P.
Fantastic service and the food was some of the best pub grub I’ve had in Manchester.
B. S.
The best steak I have ever had, it was so perfectly cooked. The rest of the food was also extremely good but the steak was something else. Lovely staff and a really nice atmosphere too.

The trouble with setting high standards and expectations is that you have either meet or exceed them.
In this it was good but only close to excellent. Close, but no cigar.
Ordering on the website is easy and the frequent offers in my email inbox are appreciated. Having left an Easter weekend order until late and not being sure of my plans, I opted for collection over delivery.
A call received shortly after to confirm acceptance and agree a collection day, then radio silence.
On the day and as previously, any attempt to call rings out until a recorded message advises that the mailbox is full. From previous orders I have the mobile number of one of the staff so text him to make final arrangements and again when I arrive at the Albert Square location, parking outside Red's True Barbecue in a meter bay.
Last time, they brought my order out but this time I'm waiting on the steps until my presence is acknowledged, then El Jefe trots past me and in. He reappears with my order in a box and I'm home to squeeze it all into the fridge. I don't check the contents or recipe sheet.
On the day of tucking in, I get it all out of the fridge and loom at the recipe sheet. It's for a different menu. I've got the Easter lunch special for one and the pork belly and sticky toffee for another.
The website helps me with some of these but it's then that I also realise that I should have Yorkshire pudding and two gravies.
I have one, large, pot of gravy and no Yorkshires.
A bit of trial and error and the meals are cooked and served.
Once on the plate, it's all good albeit that desserts don't come up to the same standard on size or quality as the starters and mains.
T. M.
Incredible. Waitress is one of the friendliest and most considerate I have ever met, and the food is to die for.
We had the artisan bread with dripping, and spicy chipolatas for the table. The bread is wholesome, full of grains and perfect for swiping through the dripping.
The chipolatas (6 in a small bowl) burst with flavour and juices and pack a fiery kick.
The chicken and leek pie is THE single best I've ever had, undescribably delicious.
My partner ordered the fish and chips and was kind enough to share a bite. The haddock is large and flaky, very pleasant, while the batter is light, crispy and perfectly compliments the fish.
The chips are delicious, crispy outside and fluffy inside and by no means dry.
The portion sizes of the mains are exceptionally generous and the prices are very reasonable, given the quality of food.
The atmosphere is friendly with the restaurant being downstairs, a perfect temperature and a grateful escape from the sudden heatwave we are currently experiencing. It's rustic, heavy wooden tables, leather booths, and wood panelled ceiling. Soft lighting, not quiet due to the bar upstairs but muted enough to hold a conversation without having to raise your voice. They have found the perfect balance here and I would absolutely recommend for a couple, or a group of friends.

Interior was nice. Service was slow and a bit disorganized. Main course was good, had burger and fish n chips but starter was disappointing, three very small scallops not worth the cost.
A. C.
Friendly atmosphere, prompt and efficient service. Brilliant surroundings. Comfortable lounge area - and not too obvious an entrance from the street.
C. R.
Fabulous belly pork roast dinner! And live music from amazing female vocalist emma stellfix made for a very enjoyable sunday lunchtime in the centre of manchester
I. L.
Great staff. Nice Sunday Roast. Good music. We ate upstairs but to be honest that was preferable as it was very busy downstairs. Reservations for Sunday Roast recommended as we were there at 2pm
A. J.
This is the second time we've been and it doesn't disappoint. Classic pub grub is given a glow up, delicious food, fantastic service. Can't fault it. Highly recommend.

Was invited to the launch party night of The Fountain House last night and it was amazing. The venue is incredible, across all three floors the decor, ambience and cosy feel was surreal within the city centre itself. The food samples were incredible, particularly the corn beef hash 🤤 Staff were amazing, and although it wasn’t a normal sit down service they were friendly, chatty and looked very happy to be at work, which is important :)
I. C.
Very british, the atomosphere was great. We were in big group, didn’t make reservation and went before the restaurant started, the staff arrange us at a very comfortable seat at the bar while waiting. The guiness beer and cider were great, the lager was okay. I really like the Bar at first floor.
The food at restaurant was gernerally okay. the ribeye was good, the fish and chips was up to standard, my friend ordered kidney pudding and corn beef hash, they said it’s pretty beefy for both of the dishes, the mussels and the chicken on the toast were okay. I ordered chicken on the toast, but i found it really too salty... will still go if with a big group of friends
S. S.
Nora and her team were a delight to work with. Super attentive and lovely attention to detail, every guest counted and we had a nice wonderful work event, 10/10!
M. W.
Fantastic dinner in the beautiful bar/restaurant. The wait staff was very nice. Restaurant is in wonderful location with a spectacular view of the town hall as you exit. I had the cod on lentils and the chef’s special mashed potatoes.

They orginized lovely and taste dinner meeting.
I can suggest the aperitif and second dishes with chicken meat. I recommend this marvellous płace.
It is nice place for you♥️🍽🍸🍾💞
D. W.
Not worth £75.
2 lager. 2 water. 1 sharing bread. 2 starters. 2 mains.
Mostly decent. But chicken on toast rubbish with gravy that tasted like pure salt.
Men's toilets smelly and dirty.
Waiter dropped a menu on a customer.
Waiter tried to take my starter which I'd put to the side, then realising his error and offered us the dessert menu- we were awaiting our mains at the time.
Burning smell from open kitchen make us feel nauseous.
D. A.
A lovely spot in the centre of Manchester.
The staff are so friendly and helpful. When we arrived, a staff member took down our details for track and trace as well as taking our temperature, so comforting to know that they are taking all the necessary precautions. 5*
J. M.
Very good restaurant, perfect friendly service. The food is delicious. Prices are well justified.
A. M.
I expected the food to be better. Looks encouraging but it was just ok. Like the place outside in sunny day - nice spot.
O. N.
Amazing Sunday roast! Beef was super tender. Will definitely come back
A. S.
Newly opened, used to be the Square Albert, decor updated there were 10 of us so we reserved a table in advance.
S. B.
The Sunday roast was amazing! Much bigger than I expected. The waiter who looked after us was so helpful and friendly, was chatting with us about places to go in Manchester as we are new to the city.
Will definitely be back!
J. W.
Delicious food. Lovely friendly waiters although a little scatty at time.
N. M.
This is a nice place to stop for a pint, shame the ales were all off but the keg selection was good.
G. B.
Nice and cozy place, not too busy when we were there Friday night. The staff was welcoming, and the food was absolutely incredible. Did not expect the food to be that good. Will definitely visit again
P. R.
Great food and atmosphere, good service, will definitely go again.
A. J.
A great traditional British pub located outside the town hall. Excellent service from all the staff and enjoy proper British food. The Chop House is in support of their former bar manager Rhys James. Rhys loved a good beer & celebrated life through a pint as such. In memory you can enjoy this beer knowing its going towards the Shine charity in which helped Rhys.
W. J.
Excellent service, great food and reasonable pricing. Made to feel very welcome.
K. T.
Fantastic food for a late lunch. Fixed price lunch menu 12-4 made it a very affordable choice and the food was amazing!
V. M.
Went here for some drinks, good selection, very nice service. Nice atmosphere with excellent live music, very comfortable.
s. C.
Lovely fantastic still eating
N. H.
Great bar, solid selection of whisky's and a fantastic Old Fashioned, along with a nice choice of beers. Friendly bar staff always keen to help, and remember a face which is always a nice touch when visiting again.
K. E.
Nice and cool place in the heart of Manchester.
T. L.
Newly owned business. Great atmosphere and really accommodating upon arrival. Couldn't fault the food as well! 5 Stars
N. R.
Great food, nice staff, cosy atmosphere
N. H.
Great Sunday lunch and friendly, attentive, staff. Highly recommended.
C. K.
Fantastic! Really nice bar and good selection of beers and spirits
T. K.
Blown away from the brilliant beef hash, crisp beer and incredible service provided by Alex and the team. Will be back to enjoy it all over again soon!
C. W.
I remember this as ' Square Albert' been coming here for years, relaxing place for a drink.. a must!
J. K.
fantastic staff and deicious food....hope to go back
陳.
Ordered roast beef and bloody mary, both were great, plus the waitress was super nice
A. G.
Nice meal and friendly staff, quite loud in the meeting rooms
H. L.
Excellent service and great food. Staff couldn't have been better - so nice. Food was great I had the Barnsley Chop which was fab another in our group had the corned beef hash - I'll be trying next time! Lovely Saturday lunch will be back thanks guys.
I. L.
The dining room is very nice, smart but not too formal. I enjoyed the food, it's traditional and the menu is not extensive but what there is was executed very well (plus, the portion size is very generous!). Service was polite but a little slow. Took advantage of the 50% off January offer which made for excellent value. All in all, very enjoyable without being outstanding. I'll probably be back when I next fancy something unfussy and satisfying.
A. M.
Well worth a visit. Good food in nice surroundings.
G. C.
It's now a pub chain. Beer and food was still good though.
C. M.
Went for mothers day with my family. Nice comfy booth with a view of the open kitchen and the food was great. Wild Mushrooms on sourdough toast to start was lovely and then followed up by the best beef hash I've ever had in my life. Was absolutely lovely followed by a delicious sticky toffee pudding and all washed down with their Chop House lager...
Our waiter was great and friendly and very attentive without being intrusive as can be the thing these days... Had never been before and was really impressed so I will definitely be back.
M. C.
Food was absolutely delicious. Would.definately recommended 👌
M. T.
Great recommendations. really great steak.
L. F.
Beautiful food, great service, nice atmosphere, friendly staff
A. S.
It is ok but a bit hit and miss. The first time I went I ordered a steak and it came out perfect. Cooked to perfection and a good cut of meat. However, the last time I went, I ordered the same bit the cut was rubbish and it was way over done. The chips were burnt and not seasoned at all, and not that much of it either. I would go again but I would have to be careful
M. S.
Nice busy vibe, lovely leather chairs and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay for more than one drink. Downstairs is the food section which looked great however I didn't eat so I can't comment on the food. One little negative was they need more bar staff as it can take a while to get served but all in all it's worth visiting.
A. Y.
Attended for wedding reception. Party of 15. Disappointed with covid restrictions once seated. Guests were seated on a long table with no space between guests... Appreciate it is situated in the city centre but at £40 per head for a 3 course meal expected better, steak fatty and peppercorn sauce watery.... Had cocktails x2 first was great 2nd predominantly was a glass three quarters full of ice topped with the actual cocktail.
S. C.
Food was not good enough for the price they charge.
W. M.
A very busy pub this was because of the Christmas Markets I would think. The staff did a fantastic job getting the drink out as as it was 4 deep. It was never ending flow of customers. A great atmosphere though well done the bar staff.
Must go back when normality resumes in Manchester.
W. g. o. a. a.
We were a large party of sixteen for a Christmas party - food was great, we'll organised and tasty. Service left a lot to be desired. Couple of waiting staff were really rude. Ceiling also leaked on us during meal... 😂
S. C.
Booked just to stay a hour for a drinks. The atmosphere and service was excellent. I had a stressful few weeks but i came home so relaxed and drank some wonderful wine. Ended up spending 3 hours really lovely evening would highly recommend
S. M.
Had our corporate drinks function here on the 12th. We had ordered a buffet for 50 at £30 per head. The venue went out of its way to make sure all the food served was halal. We had requested a halal option but I was very pleased that they could do everything including their famous corned beef hash. The food and service were both excellent and we will probably book again next year.
A. B. E.
Missing you already ... we had two great steaks there at the new year ...
M. R.
Great decor - superb service and food was top notch
D. G.
Never eaten here but always good for a few drinks whether it's with the other half or bigger family gathering. Reserving the area at the back was quick and easy and the staff are warm and friendly. Highly recommended the Kendricks gin and tonic - spot on. Nicely furnished with comfy seating and relaxed atmosphere.
M. C.
Had the delicious bread with beef dripping (didn't want to share). The bone marrow was sumptuous and comforting and the corned beef hash was lip-smacking and moreish. My son's rump steak was extremely flavoursome, but the crab cake that came with my wife's sea bass wasn't tasty or moist enough. Service was good and friendly and the ambiance relaxing. Would go again.
D. T.
Not bad but Over priced
S. W.
Relaxing and great service
C. H.
Excellent service and lovely venue. I had spent a good few weeks searching for a suitable venue for a colleague's retirement party and can't believe this was one of the last places I looked at, definitely recommend anyone makes it their first port of call! From the initial meeting with Lawrence who discussed everything with us to ensure all our requirements were met, to the actual evening, everything went seamlessly. The food and service on the night were second to none and a good time was had by all!!
Thank you.
C. F.
I cannot praise this place highly enough. My husband and I had our wedding reception here and it was perfect! From planning through to the actual day itself was made pretty stress-free with the help of the fabulous events coordinator Lawrence and all the staff at the chop house. The food was delicious, the venue was dressed beautifully and the whole day was amazing! I had no stress and was able to thoroughly enjoyed the day with my guests knowing that the chop house was looking after everything. Thank you to everyone at Albert's Square Chop House for helping make my wedding day the happiest day of my life!
K. H.
Has a really good time with my partners family when we went up for the weekend. Michaela and the other waitress we had (sorry i didn't catch your name, blonde hair if i remember correctly..) were lovely and attentitive. We went for sunday roast and it was it all tasted amazing. The mini yorkshires and onion gravy starter is really good, we all had one each. The meat on the roast was particulary brilliant, cooked prefectly. We had an early lunch so it was lovely and quiet when we got in and the atmosphere was lovely. My only complaints were that the main course wasn't enough as far as vegtables were concerned which was a bit disappointing as we were hungry after a busy morning and that the puddings are rather uninspiring, to the point where I didn't know what to choose because I didn't want any of it (but had to have one because everyone else was - you know how it is). All in all the price is good for the quality of meat so i would go back for that but not being full at the end would put me off. So if you have a small appitite it would be perfect :)
D. A.
Excellent Food in a Relaxed Atmosphere
Having gone for dinner with a friend visiting from Australia we were able to enjoy an excellent three course dinner in the privacy of one of the booths in the downstairs restaurant. The service was appropriate and unobtrusive. The food was very traditional 'chop house fayre'. It came well presented and was of excellent quality. This was my first visit but won't be my last based on this experience.
V. S.
Attended for a corporate event late 2017 when the food was excellent but ate in the main bar area this evening and the choices were very limited for vegetarians, which was a surprise. Of an entire menu I had the choice of a vegetable pie or cheese sandwiches and chips - for dinner. The rest of the party were very happy with their (very meaty) dishes, the venue is great, service above and beyond. But with such limited veggie options I wouldn't rush back. Recommended for non veggies, on the feedback of the others.
D. G.
two days ago was the first time we went to this fine restaurant. But It is absolutely not the last time. We had a good time with the courteous service, with the excellent cooking and wine and with the honest pay. We will no doubt go back there soon.
L. S.
Nice interior. I had fish and chips. It tasted like the fish was wrapped in a doughy pancake. Not great for £13. Friends had a roast, said it was average. Service was friendly enough, though a little confused, with 4 different waiters/waitresses serving our table. Overall, you pay for location & interior but food is overpriced average pub food.
A. B.
Can I please say a massive thank you to you and all the staff at Albert Square Chop House for the most wonderful Christmas Day. Special mention must go to Josh, who was a complete star!
The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. The British Cheese board stole the show. I am sure you have already heard that we took most of it home with us (like tinkers!). It was amazing. The whole day worked really well for us. Thank you.
Thank you once again. We had a wonderful day.
V. C.
Dined here last weekend during the 10k run, the place was jam packed but the atmosphere was superb. We arrived, without a booking and a very large party of hungry 16 runners. We had to wait 10 mins while they sorted a table out big enough for us but we had drinks so wasn't too bad. Food was delicious, staff were attentive and friendly. We stayed for a good few hours and it was a great end to a great day in Manchester. Well done Manchester for putting on a great show and well done to The Chop House for amazing hospitality to match - cant wait for next year!
M.
Really good! Went on NYE and received great service from such a friendly server. The food was on point and we left in a complete food coma. Prices are reasonable for the quality and would recommend paying a visit to this place.
J. Y.
Generally love the Chop houses in Manchester. First time eating in the Albert Square Chop House and it just lacked in service and food quality. Took over 20 minutes for even the drinks order to be taken. Cauliflower soup was nice, but Fish and chips didn't hit the mark. All felt a bit overcooked. Also wrong drink was brought.
E. C.
FABULOUS!
Food is delicious! Took my parents here for a lovely Sunday lunch and the service was impeccable! The food is simple good hearty Bristish food that is cooked to perfection.
I like this establishment so much that I've booked my wedding reception with them in their function room.
Love it!
M. W.
Excellent Sunday lunch served in bar
I. A.
Just give this place a fair try. Everyone is helpful and willing to assist in order to make your eating experience a good one. The meal I ordered, chicken breast, was served hot and for once tasted like chicken did in the 1950's, full of flavour, not pumped up fibre board. Oh, and the best bitter is bang on form and they know how to keep it as well as how to serve it. The overall cost is totally reasonable for what you get. If you don't agree with me then try the same luncheon in London, but take your big wallet with you.
J. F.
Good all round pub and restaurant.
J. B.
I had three of the tapas style dishes and was stuffed! It's a little pricey but not much more than anywhere else in Manchester and the food is really tasty.
Great atmosphere in the bar and comfortable seating.
S.
Nice but severely overpriced.
B. F.
Stopped by for a beer. Good service, good beer.
The place is huge for a pub. Three floors that include a restaurant, bar and event space, they apparently do conferences, private parties and live music and comedy gigs (we spoke to the barman).
To do all that, in a central location, and maintain a nice cosy bar area and have ale on pump is pretty good.
M. Z.
This is definitely our favourite place to eat in Manchester City centre. Plenty of gluten free option and child friendly. Very tasty food and really attentive and friendly service with smile. Will always recommend
M. “. X. R.
This is a pub restaurant in central Manchester. I only used the bar section and did not visit the restaurant so sorry no reviews for the restaurant. The location is excellent and the place was obviously busy on a Friday night. Service was a little slow due to lack of bar staff but the place has a cosy atmosphere and the clientele appeared friendly. The decor looks dated but I guess that is part of the character of the place. Would I go again or recommend the pub? Sure I would!
R. C.
We had pre wedding drinks and post wedding meal here. This place is full of atmosphere and character. Split over two levels. Bar on the ground floor and restaurant in the basement. The basement shares full length windows stretching from the upper floor. Fabulous food and great service
K. A.
Funky place for a wedding reception..food great..prices are reasonable n good selection of drinks
i. t.
Fabulous food and brilliant service. The staff were friendly, welcoming and with a wicked sense of humour. They brightened up our evening no end!
k. w.
We used a private room to celebrate my birthday with friends. The young man who looked after us was brilliant and the food was really good. Can't recommend the place highly enough!
A. E.
Good beer, lovely decor and friendly bar staff. Pint of local gold was only £4 which is good for Central Manchester and I was able to pay by card!
Only negative is background music which makes it hard chatting to friends.
L. T.
This place is great. The steak was cooked exactly how I wanted. The upstairs can pass as a classy pub. It can be very busy and people wait here for their tables.
My advise is to book a table if you go on a weekend.
G. D.
Great evening out with friends with a lively atmosphere & good music, delicious food & even though the January discounts were in place the portions weren't reduced. Great service from Alex. Thanks all for a brilliant night out.
M. L.
Only had the breakfast here but it's great food. The place has lots of nice photos of old Manchester. It's pricey and traditional but does traditional very well. Check out Sam's and Thomas's chop houses for different takes on the same!
P. D.
The building has been well renovated from its former life as 'Square Albert' pub - once got through the door didn't recognise it! Very good menu of British classics presented in a modern style, and like the other chop houses, good selection of dishes using local produce.
Took some friends who wanted to get a taste of modern British cuisine and enjoyed the food, service and the atmosphere. Enjoyed the in-house draft beers and will definitely return again.
A. B.
Fantastic dinner in one of Manchester's greatest restaurants. Friendly service from staff who really care. Food was incredible as always. Cannot wait to go back again soon.
S. H.
Well furnished with comfortable seating with great service from the bar. Obviously popular with diners too and the function room was in use also but neither distracted us as we enjoyed our drinks
A.
The restaurant is bigger than it seems on the inside, and this is because it's a bar (with a seating area) above ground, and the restaurant proper above ground. I tend to dislike these kind of arrangements, and I'll get to why in a bit.
Downstairs looks great, when the description says "industrial chic", it's fairly accurate, with exposed ductwork at high level. It's got sofas and also wooden table/seats for two (or more). There is very little direct lighting, which gives everything a sort of glow, it looks really good in early evening. There are windows at ground level, allowing you to look up into the street (and people to look downwards in). However, the way it is constructed means that the upper floor is exposed to the lower floor
This means that when there are people at the bar, you can hear them downstairs and the more people there are, the noisier it is. I was the only diner around late afternoon on a Saturday, but there were a lot of people at the bar. It sort of dampened the visit for me, as I like to read while waiting for the food, but the noise level was just prohibitive. I imagine when it's really full both upstairs and downstairs it would
Anyway, I had a steak there and I really liked it- I like my steak well done but for some reason restaurants seem to think this means I want it charred and stone hard. I just want it cooked through, and I'm glad to say the chop house delivered!
It's somewhat expensive, so not somewhere I'd go regularly but having said that, the food is absolutely worth it.
D. W.
Friendly service. I had a lovely lamb chop. My 18 year old daughter loved the 90's music. The Albert's fizz cocktail is very nice!
K. W.
We didn't eat here, so I can't comment on the food, but the bar had a lovely atmosphere and the staff were especially helpful. They had their own Christmas beer on tap and it was delicious!
P. T.
100% the best Steak in town! Restaurant is really well designed, with the right balance of modern and classic decor. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and the food, oh my word! Go to this place!

Best pie and mash I ever had and amazing service
A. G.
Large party in a private room. Drink served in chipped glass, 2 client's mains served without their ordered sides (one turned up after her meal finished another didn't arrive at all). Sticky toffee pudding was dry and cold and two of the party who had fish and chips have felt unwell since.
W. C.
The food is always fresh and delicious, staff members gives fantastic service. I love how neat it is and character. Keep up the good work.
K. R.
So far so good. Nice atmosphere. Was only offered a Sunday menu so didn't bother trying the steaks as its a good offering. Staff seem friendly enough. Wonky table though.
S. L.
Great high end British Pub. Excellent service, good food. Vegetarian options. Nice wine list. Niceatmosphere. About a 15 min walk from Piccadilly train station.
I. P.
We had our wedding here in the ground floor bar. It was absolutely perfect. The staff were friendly & professional and our guest s haven't stopped talking about how good the food was.
K. F.
Food was fine, service was quite poor. Went midweek so maybe is better at the weekend if more staff are on. Took a very long time between sitting down, ordering and food actually arriving. Food was perfectly fine when it arrived
J. a. A. L.
Was nice experience. Bit pricey.
J. S.
Looking great in here now. Low light and dark wood. Really nice. Restaurant down stairs is special. John Willie Lees beers in good order. Shared a Manchester Plate and it was spot on, exceptional. Manchester Pie, Manchester Egg, cheese, pate, sourdough, cornichons, chilli sausages and pickles. Plus Eccles cakes. Really tasty and satisfying.
J. W.
Really great place. Food is great, staff are superb too. Stylish interior, good beers & wine.
S. R.
Whenever I come to Manchester, this bar both excites and entertains. The Staff are both professional and attentive. I can see no valid reason to not recommend this establishment. It's glorious day 😁
a. c.
Great food. Excellent service. Fab if you're gluten intolerant, even for kids. Best fish and chips since going gluten free.
C. S.
Cosy place with excellent food. Expect city centre prices. Service is good but not excellent - we had a couple of orders go missing but this was reflected in the final bill. Overall we had a very good experience and would recommend it.
S. W.
Nice friendly staff, good cocktails.
E. W.
There were loads of us in here for drinks the other night and we had a good time. Good atmosphere at the bar with reasonable prices for drinks. Nice place to go for a drink.
L. R.
Went this evening to the Albert Chop House. They were catering for many large Christmas parties and they did it to perfection. Food and service was fantastic. Well done!
S. G.
Food was exceptional, the staff were friendly and looked after us and it was a nice relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely go back. 😊
C. P.
So last week, I dropped in for a pint at the Chop house. It is very clean and the prices are pretty reasonable for the City Centre. One of the nicest things is that it serves Balvenie. So if you are partial to a dram, have a wee look.
N. P.
Good food and good service. A bit pricey for what you get though. I mainly went for meetings happening upstairs, but downstairs has a great atmosphere.
H. K.
Sunday roast was lovely. Others I was with had the mushroom wellington as a vegan option and really enjoyed that too.
E. G.
The steak was amazing!!! Staff were all curtious and friendly and everyone respected the social distancing measures put in place.
A. H.
Shame Hoegaarden has gone but still a great place for food and drink.
E. “. B. O.
Very busy place...bit too busy for my taste. Staff work hard but seem to be under a bit too much pressure. I think it is rather expensive but considering the location it is probably on a par with other establishments in the locale.
C. M.
Food nice, but too expensive. Staff were not attentive enough. We had to ask for menus and then had to ask if we could order.
D. S.
Following Mr Thomas's Chop House and Sam's Chop House, this is the third installment of the Chop House Family. You could probably describe this one as the the more stylish of the three with the others being more original, they've clearly spent a lot of money here creating this new venue and it doesn't disappoint. They cater for everything here, they have private function rooms for weddings etc or if you're just dropping in for a lunch time pint and bar snack. Food is great just as the other Chop Houses are and the staff are nice and friendly.
P. S.
Nice bar
R. H. (.
Nipped in for a quick pint. Loved the decor inside. Friendly chatty staff and a warm welcome. Good selection of IPA'S MPA'S wines and spirits etc etc.
G. C.
Great comfort foof, go to place if you want traditional British fayre.
They've a great selection of ales and the wine list is comprehensive.
K. M.
Really nice food. All the staff really friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
A. E.
Been a couple of times and both visits saw very good food. Proper hearty food that'll definitely leave you full. Only criticism would be the service was a little rushed.
k.
Very quiet night but private dinning with a few colleagues so no issue. Food was excellent as was the service which was unobtrusive. Good night with colleagues
S. M.
"Quintissentially British," is how I'd describe this place. And I love it.
It's not just because from I'm from Oldham that I love this corned beef heavy menu and the emphasis on "proper grub." It's because it tastes like a little slice of our Northern heaven on a rainy day. It's the sort of food you want to curl up and eat in your PJs while it's throwing down outside.
Do you know what? The lunch time menu might be a bit above the average budget for sandwiches and snack (£8 minimum for a sandwich). But treat yourself. Cos it's lip smackingly good.
B. W.
Very friendly staff. Easy to book. Very reasonable prices for food and drink. Nice menu too with good choices.
s. b.
Excellent traditional food in a downstairs restraunt! A great bar too on the ground floor. Well worth a visit.
a. j.
