A. O.Would have given this place 5 stars but the service was so slow. There was one member of staff behind the bar on a Friday night and we waiting 25mins for 4 cocktails. Cocktails were delicious though and the atmosphere was pretty chilled. There are boardgames and cards, which we played while we waited for drinks.
S. C.Amazing bar staff. The bartender, Alex, made an absolutely amazing Bloody Mary. Sadly, you don't get many places that can make a Bloody Mary from scratch, but Alex took the time to do so. It was hands down, literally the best cocktail I've had in the last ten years. Will definitely be returning soon. It's worth the price you pay. 11/10

Emerson truly looked after us, gave us plenty of recommendations, plenty of laughs and plenty of smiles. A true example of a bartender who is clued up on their customer service skills. D. W.I had my Christmas party here in the loft space and it was faaaaancy. The bar area is nicely sized for the amount of people that can fit in there, suitably staffed with employees nice enough to drunk messes on a free bar.
We had a bit of entertainment and it was as in the name. It was good craic. My only criticism would have been the food. It was ok, it didn't really fit in with the aesthetic of the place but it filled a hole.
Overall I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a drink in a rustic setting then you're in for a treat. Definitely one to try out.
A. W.Friendly bar. Stranger bought me a drink after almost needing to pull an unfortunate homeless guy out of the nearby canal. Fortunately someone else jumped in to save him first! Good function room downstairs.
D. B.We held our post wedding party at Lock-91 and it was awesome!
In the run up to the event Cherish was fantastic offering advice and as many pre-party meetings with us as we wanted. She liaised with our band, DJ, caterers and cake maker directly and made sure that everything came together and ran smoothly. We hosted 150 guests and hired the attic, reception bar and parlour which had ample space. All staff were amazing throughout the night and couldn’t do enough for us.
We hired the in-house DJ (Lee) who was friendly, fun and professional. He played the music we asked for and added tunes in-keeping with our tastes. We were dancing until 2am!
Circle events catered our party. The food was top quality and enjoyed by all our guests. It was clear they had a lot of experience catering Lock-91 as a venue as they ran very efficiently.
If you are looking for a modern party space, Lock-91 is the place for you!
J. B.We came here for drinks after lockdown the set up was good with track and trace and temperature checks and sanitizer on the tables. there is a large range of cocktails and IPAs to choose from and the prices are pretty decent too great for starting the night off

C. H.Went to an event here and ordered a large wine recieved a small, went upstairs to the event when I realised and even worse I then seen on my revolut they had charged £8.95 for that glass of basic white wine.
A bottle of corona was £4.95 😂 I would usually not entertain those prices but I was with friends, so didn't have a choice. There wasn't any atmosphere there, no music etc, and it a strange location, so how they justify the prices is amazing. The staff were friendly, but it's definitely not somewhere I'd recommend to other friends.

H. M.My wedding reception was held here, if you're looking for a rustic style venue in the city centre - this is an excellent choice. We had the outdoor terrace/an inside room/bar/toilets all private for our party. Its nicely decorated so not much need to worry about decorating too much. Alex was very helpful all night, as were the 2 bartenders. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made us all comfortable.
However this is not 5 stars for a reason - We were told we could only use their caterers, so I waited months until they had arranged their caterer to then have the caterer cancel less than 4 weeks before my wedding. I understand this is not directly Lock91s fault but the manager Andi handled it terribly. He offered no apology or alternatives and said I should find something myself and cover all costs which would have been far more than we were originally paying. I manage a restaurant where we regularly host events so we we were able to have our meal there thankfully or my wedding would have been ruined. I suggest Lock91 look in to how some managers are interacting with customer's, as it was amazing besides that.

j. s.Found this hidden gem (don't usually get this far along Deansgate) after attempting several other venue's along the way - refused (party of 6, saw many more larger groups than ours!!!!) LOTS of empty tables in said venues refusing entry. Asked at Lock 91 - they were busy & said we could have the only available table, for an hour - this was perfect for us & gratefully accepted. Table service, prompt & efficient. Definitely be returning.

j.£9 for one cocktail is a London price and is good for London not Manchester! But the venue is never too busy and the decoration is very nice. Staff are very good and friendly too. Overall it's a good place to go to have a drink, just make sure that you don't forget your debit card.

m. c.Nice venue. Visited for a northern digital party that was being hosted here. The layout worked perfectly, many different rooms and floors. Few different toilets spotted around, so no queues. Easy to get to as well with the tram/deansgate train station only meters away.

l. o.Had my Mums 60th here, the staff were very helpful in organising the event and communicated with us a lot leading up to the event. We ordered pizzas from a place over the road and they served it up for us. No venue fee, just minimum bar spend which was easily met!
J. A.A great team who helped me host a stag do in their upstairs forum space. The staff were extremely helpful with organisation, both before and during the night, and can't recommend them enough if you need to organise your own! The drinks prices were also great!
J. B.Three floors means this venue has a great capacity for events. The cocktails are tasty and the staff are great at making them! There's a seating/smoking area on the ground floor right by the canal if you'd like to sit outside.

P. D.Went to lock 91 for a lecture they were hosting by a neuroscientist on the science of self-esteem. The venue was pretty cool. Very small however, not much space around the bar.
Our drinks were great and the bar staff were super friendly and helpful.
They could not take card for orders under £5 but could open up a tab if you found yourself without cash.
The upstairs room where the talk was was quite cold, many people wore their jackets throughout the talk. The chairs were also super hit and miss, felt like they had tried to go for the whole "shabby chic" feel but had rather just hit the shabby bit.
Other than the comfort of sitting on the seats for 2hrs it was a pretty good venue. Wouldn't stop me from visiting again esp if I just wanted a good quick drink before jumping on a tram as its directly below DeansGate tram stop.
J. D.First visit to this small but intimate venue. Pub style bar downstairs, with bar and room with a stage upstairs. Not enough room for tables and chairs, so standing only to watch bands. One cask ale on pump upstairs, and plenty of keg lagers etc as well as bottled.
G. M.My partner and I received the gin tasting experience as a christmas gift. A little reserved at first bit we had a fantastic time. The lock 91 bar team were great and very helpful. Dave leading the drinkology session was very knowledgeable, explaining the history of each gin we tasted and how to identify and link each gin with its garnish. Dave said he as unwell, but we really couldn't tell because the session was delivered brilliantly (despite some loud groups). Thank you very much lock 91... a lovely, boozy, educational afternoon. 😁

The choice of drinks and cocktails are brilliant, staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome and the music is very cool - love the downstairs terrace and the place also has a balcony, pool table and show the football!!! M.Staff are brilliant. Cute little oyster bar with gorgeous outside views and plenty of seating. Very clean, good range of drinks. Rather expensive though but it’s worth it!

R. J.I hired out Lock91 for my 21st and it was an amazing venue with incredible staff!! They were so helpful on the run up to the event and even more so on the night. Josh looked after us all night and dealt with any queries there and then, he was great! The pie and mash from circle events was delicious and the DJ, photo box and photographer were all professional and good fun. Such a great venue with amazing staff and they made my 21st the best ever.
J. G.As a function room the service was good with no problems. However as a place to drink the cost is far too high. Charging £5+ for one drink really put off alot of our friends. If you're going to book a function room, check the prices of the drinks first.

I. G.Went here for a wedding very different venue. Situated in the Heart of Manchester. Think its a night club normally and set out over 3 floors with no lift. Only complain was the drinks prices which seem extortionate small bottle of proescco i.e. glass and a pint of Guinness was £15!

T. F.If your on Deansgate Locks and your desperate for a pint in a less than rammed environment, this place fits the bill. While the interior over 3 floors is fairly interesting with exposed brick work and rafters, the alcohol is fairly standard compared to a number of other local watering holes. Worth a visit, but not a planned one.
On a more positive note, it is worth considering for hosting small events.

A. D.I quite like this place as its probably one of the only bars on Deansgate Locks I would be happy to visit, it has a somewhat rustic feel with plenty of space to wander round, pool tables and a great outdoor area overlooking the canal and the base of the locks.
