My husband and i went for a brunch. And it was very tasty(50% Off) I had a salmon Benedict and he had a full breakfast. The girl behind the bar and who served us, was lovely and very jolly. We definitely will come again.

Really good drinks, clientele can be a bit pretentious but hey, it's the northern quarter. What else would you expect? Staff are great, will have a go at off menu cocktails if they know what's in it and have the ingredients. Downstairs bar isn't private as the only toilets in the place are down there. If you're at a rock night or something, expect to have people from up stairs wandering about. On the subject of the toilets, they're unisex and all cubicles, which I think is a great idea. There's plenty of them and they're clean and tidy. Well, at least at the start of the night they are... You know what I mean. Overall it's a good little bar, give it a go, I mean what's the worst that could happen?

Really good food! Dirty fries and fried chicken, with a lot of different flavours and rubs as well a good selection of burgers. Really good portions, I had the nasville chicken tray and it was massive! Staff were great as well, really friendly and attentive.

Great staff, amazing atmosphere and setting. The service was also superb. The food was reasonably priced, arriving early after ordering. However, the floor downstairs was sticky. It was very unpleasant to walk to the bathroom, as it seemed like the whole floor was covered in this stickiness.

We at here recently on a friday lunchtime. The lady who served us was lovely and gave drink recommendations, the cocktail was lovely! The food was the usual american style, think frankie and bennys, but with a lunch menu you can save some money. I found there to be little choice but when the food came the portions were large to make up for lack of choice. I would probably come back for cocktails at happy hour but probably wouldn't eat here again.

I had never heard of this place before I met there with people. My first impressions... I'll be back again.

The cocktails with a star are two for £10 from 5-10pm Sun-Fri. The cocktails include Solero (very fruity and colourful vodka based cocktail), umbongo (super sweet, rum-based cocktail), hubba Bubba (with evident bubble gum and strawberry flavours this is made with vodka), raspberry & elderflower Collins (a more tasty twist on this famous gin-based cocktail), english garden margarita (fruit added to this tequila-based classic). Plus the small (served in a champagne flute) winter berry fizz (again also sweet but you feel the fizz). All of the above are included. Mahou beer is also 2 bottles for £5 during the same time period. I went here recently with friends midweek for a quiet (few) drink/s - it's comfy and seats outside until 9.30 in good weather plus cool decor (spot the walrus) and funky music, what more do you need?

Came for a quick meal and a few drinks on a week night. Great selection of cocktails which are really good value when it's happy hour! Food is reasonably priced and will stand you in good stead for a night out! All came out very quickly - hot, fresh and decent for the price.

Arrived in the afternoon around 2 was greeted by a friendly server who seated us, told us the specials etc, then things kind of went down from there. However we were then sat for almost 45 minutes and still no sign of the server to take our drinks or food order. Menu seems to suggest it is table service but we weren't told either way. Food was great and once ordered didn't take long to come out. Portion size was good and for the price I'd certainly visit again. Definitely worth taking a look but maybe they could clarify if it's table or self service.

It's a decent venue but if you're looking for a nice pint it's not the place for you. Limited offerings beer wise (I like a nice ale), it mostly focusses on cocktails and shorts, and the cans of lager it does sell are very much overpriced (£4.50 for a can of red stripe!!). Staff were friendly though, and the music was ok. Head downstairs if you want to dance, stay upstairs if you want to talk.

Drink prices were alright. Went with friends to enjoy their company so stepped into the quieter side of the place. Half way through our conversation the staff turned the music up to the point we couldn't even hear each other even when shouting. It felt like they wanted us to move into the busier part or leave.

Misleading/false advertising sign outside and advert online advises 50% off booze on Sundays, excluding bottles. Ordered 3 cocktails and were charged full amount as the manager had recently changed this and not updated anything. Even when rammed on a Saturday night, the staff at Walrus still manage to look like they love making cocktails. And they make them so well! The black pepper gin is fantastic, and my friend had a very tasty cream one that was a little too easy to drink. Music is fun too. Overall, this is a great place that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Been waiting for my food for an hour now, other people in my party have had their food and eaten it. We only ordered burgers, it's not busy so what is the wait? The staff are amazing and a credit to the place. After being served the food was good and they made up the waiting time with a free round, the food was lovley but unfortunately won't be returning.

Went here for the first time recently, its a nice bar that serves brilliant cocktails, one of the best Mojitos i've ever had was from this place! They can be a bit pricey but they do have a happy hour so try and get in then!

Tusk, the bar joined to Walrus which doesn't seem to have its own listing, is amazing. The cocktails are incredibly tasty, using lots of fresh fruit instead of pre-made syrups, and the lovely lead barman (great North East accent) is a real expert and always really friendly. The burgers are also fab.

Ideal place for some after work drinks with deals on Beer and Cocktails and in a great location for getting to the tram and bus stops for the journey home. The new style makeover has made it one of the top bars in the NQ once again.
