Reviews of Metropolitan West Didsbury
A. O.
Almost forgot why I love this place. Didn't have a booking and they managed to fit us into the restaurant, even though it was very busy everywhere in the pub - rugby was on!
Food was on point as always and the drinks were made with care. Nice to see a change in the menu with the classics still available , but they have removed the early dinner deal which is a shame
D. W.
Beautifully decorated and clean, this pub manages to combine a modern and homely traditional feel. The food is very good, and the service quick and polite. I'd certainly recommend this place.
R. A.
Delicious menu, lovely wine.
Glad we popped in for some dinner.
Good choice of gluten free and vegan options too! We had the large fish and chips, seafood pie, chicken gnocchi and a pizza. Lovely sorbet for desert. Always a fave 👍🏻👍🏻
C. A.
Great pub, great Food. Great times.
Visited her for the first time this week and was welcomed like a member of the family by Colin and his team. Got lucky with the weather and sat outside with the family around a lovely fire. Shame I don’t live closer otherwise it would be my new local!. Will definitely be back though!

Very cosy, large gastro pub with great food. Outside pizza bar (fresh stone baked I believe) during summer. Tend to visit more for posh working lunches on the occasional weekday. Last visit was 3 course Christmas meal and it was beautiful with huge portions as always, not a negative comment from any of the team (16 of us) apart from we were all likely to fall asleep upon returning to work from being entirely stuffed from a great meal 😂. Looks an awesome place to spend a night with friends or family for an evening esp. with the covered outside dining area (heated/heaters too) but for me this venue is close to work, no where near home. Very attentive, polite and friendly staff. Good selection of drinks too. Would highly recommend to anyone who's not visited before as I've never had a bad experience in the 2 years + or so I've been eating here!
J. F.
This is an absolutely lovely pub! Food is fantastic, especially the pizza after a few beers, great outdoor area. Came in for food on a couple of occasions and the restaurant manager has laboured the point on no dogs in the restaurant. Not sure what that was all about.
K. S.
Incredible...had a mahusive to tasty fish pie to die for heaving with really good fish. Really seamless service. Would highly recommend!
S. H.
Coffee beans fresh, muffins were good. Nice atmosphere to meet a friend. Lots of window seats on a nice day. WiFi supported a conference call. Good option for a quick snack, a couple of hours work or a quiet spot to do a conference call that is not sitting in your car
D. K.
Met my wife here when it was the Midland Hotel, in front of the wood fire. Now a big totally revamped pub from those days. Been going there for 50 years. Good substantial food served all day by competent staff. Large selection of wines and beers. Recently the brewery has taken back control with no visible change. Has become a bit of a meeting point for local young mothers and babies which can be off putting if you’re not a young mother (or a baby). Big outside and covered areas. Pizza oven outside. Near a tram stop. Wi-Fi

Nice. V London. Little pretentious but pleasant. Decent staff, friendly with a relaxed albeit middle class vibe without being overly conservative. Nice architecture, design. Cocktails could be better. Good meeting point, good for groups also does food.
L.
Enjoyed lunch at the Metropolitan today. Cosy Christmas atmosphere and very welcoming staff. Our waitress, Charlotte, was lovely! Good value food & nice coffee. Overall a great way to spend a couple of hours, plus it feels good to support a local hostelry during these difficult times.
B. P.
Had a huge group attend Sunday lunch. The service was exceptional , all food came in adequate time, with every meal coming out at the same time . The staff were attentive and polite . The food was good and the atmosphere nice. I definitely recommend it
D. r.
We have been coming regularly for years at lunch as the food has always been decent. The lunch time sandwiches although not amazing always offered better than most for good pub food and price point.
Went today and saw there has been some changes to the menu and not for the better. Ordered the Philly cheesesteak and the chicken sandwich. Very poor came between two slices of poor quality sliced bread and the chicken you could tell was of very poor quality.
I appreciate all businesses need to keep an eye on costs at this tough time but the quality of ingredients and food for your restaurant is not where I would make it as this is what’s has kept us coming back.
As always service and presentation of the building spot on just a re visit on the quality of the food as we will unfortunately not be rushing back.
J. A.
Hard to fault a place with such a great beer selection. Its rare you find a place with clwb tropic on tap so loved that. There was also neck oil and punk as well as others, i honestly felt spoilt for choice. The staff were super polite and served us quickly and the beer garden was immense. Great vibes, inside and out. Will be returning soon, especially if the sun does too!
T. H.
Visited the Metropolitan yesterday for a day out with the wife and had the best experience! As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the manager Colin who looked after us throughout out visit, taking our orders and offering his recommendations, since our last visit the beers and crafts have improved massively and much more to our tastes, will definitely be returning again!
L. S.
Booked in advance. Good food. Lovely place to meet up with friends. Cosy atmosphere with live fire. Covered outside seating with heaters. Have visited several times.
A. C.
Amazing meal for me and the family, service was excellent and fast. The team and management looked after us from start to finish... highly recommended and will be returning in the near future
N. T.
Went after a funeral, 6 of us. Sad day but helps when a meal is stress free. Safety precautions in place, clean and staff friendly. Food was lovely.
R. Y.
3 stars because we like the building and the atmosphere. This place has sadly been getting progressively worse since we came out of lockdown and our visit last night was no exception. They never have all the wine on the menu anymore- even though the one I like you can buy over the road at Tesco, the shift manager last night simply blamed supply issues. If you don’t have it available - take it off the chalk board so people can see what’s available.
Our food took much longer than it should have to arrive and when it did, the fish and chips was actually fish and fries. Tasty, but not as per the menu.
There have been several staff changes and it appeared last night they were short staffed - glasses and plates were left for a long time before collected (off all tables near us).
It’s disappointing when somewhere that has been a staple of the neighbourhood is no longer coming close to its former standards. We will probably still nip in for a quick drink when convenient, but certainly won’t be bringing people for mid week food as we did last night.
A. D.
Really enjoyed a tasty lunch today ..an early Mother's Day lunch with my husband.. daughter and grandson. Friendly staff ..service good and we all enjoyed our lunch. Look forward to our next visit!!
t.
Visited yesterday and would definitely go back. Our server was brilliant, really attentive without being overbearing and was really helpful with questions about allergies. Think she was called Rachel?
A. F.
Really tasty food!
S. H.
Went for a vegan roast on a Sunday. By 5pm they had ran out of the nut roast though.
Huge portions and lovely veg
M. G.
Decent pub with friendly staff! They offer non-alcoholic cider & beer which is always nice if you're on a cheeky detox.
R. L.
Food was amazing with a great atmosphere.
L. M.
Good food and great choice of beers, ales, spirits and soft drinks. Nice seating area outside with marquee as well. Parking tight but available. Prices in line with didsbury area.
m. c.
A fantastic restaurant with great food and a wonderful outside seating area. A little on the pricey side, but worth the price you pay! Highly recommend the fish pie and any of the pizzas/calzones!
A. M.
I went here again today just for the beautiful ambience and food. Can't help saying it, but it was again another lovely time. This place keeps on calling me back.
J. M.
Great pub for food and drinks in the heart of West Didsbury.
s. P.
Had a great drink here the other day. Great service with a smile from the barman paddy. Will be back.
P. K.
Staff friendly, puddings amazing, food judge for yourself. Every picture tells a story. Child friendly. Open space you did not feel stuck together. I would go again. I can still taste that mouth watering pudding.
M. B.
Loved our visit to the met always a favourite brilliant sunday roast on and lovely choice of beers had great service by sion as always
S. T.
Went in to use the loo... clean... no one bothered me. People passing me on the stairs were super polite. Would use the loo here again. On the downside, when I was exiting there was a group on boisterous students trying a rugby scrum. From what I saw... West Didz won't have a rugby team anytime soon
H. W.
We enjoyed a great Christmas lunch today at The Metropolitan, we had a traditional turkey dinner! The food was really good, hot and beautifully presented. We didn't think we'd be able to manage Christmas pudding, but somehow we managed to force it down !! A big "Thank you" to Mel and all the team for making it special.
J. N.
Went for a Christmas meal at the Met on Sunday and the food was amazing! But what really stood out was our server Alex; he really went the extra mile to make sure our party was having a good time. Even if he did have to keep opening bottles of Malbec for us.
Keep up the good work Alex! A real credit to the business!
C. B.
Lovely place to socialise, eat and drink. Very friendly staff. It had a nice atmosphere. There are also alot of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, I felt the prices were a little high for the amount of food received but it was lovely. Also they serve bottles of alcohol free beer so I didn't feel left out as the driver.
B.
Great pub with a varied menu, all the food here is very good and is all fresh. The staff are all very friendly too and go out of their way to provide excellent service
C. H.
Serves a lovely pint of Guinness and even has a sign outside to stop man utd fans coming in.
T. H.
Great pub, absolutely huge with ample indoor & outdoor space. Not too expensive and a real gem in the middle of West Didsbury, which if you haven’t been, will really surprise you.
A. F.
The Met is a nice pub the staff are friendly but the beer pricing is on the more expensive side, expect to pay £5+ for a pint especially if you drink craft beer.
I ordered Burger and Chips which was ok, the chips were like chipshop chips, but some of mine were a little hard in the middle.
I wouldn't rush back.
T. B.
Had a really lovely romantic meal here. Food was really good and the atmosphere was ace. Staff were friendly and helpful. What more can you ask for.
L. S. B.
Had an amazing Sunday lunch here, it tasted so good. Generous portions with an impressive looking Yorkshire pud. The pub has a nice atmosphere and has lots of seating. Will definitely make a return visit
E. J.
We had 1x Sausage & Mash, 2x Fish and Chips on a Sunday lunchtime. Excellent presentation, effortless service, food was delicious and came within 15 minutes. Bar staff are always really friendly and chatty. Love coming here!
S. N.
We sat out in their spacious beer garden. Nice atmosphere, food and drink.
D. N.
Had Christmas Dinner here and everything was excellent - atmosphere, food, staff couldn't have been better. They even went round back and got us some extra hats and streamers (table of 9 grown adults 😅). Would definitely recommend.
I. O.
Lovely massive space great for meeting up with large groups especially if there are lots of prams and a lot of space is required xx i
j. h.
Always busy, in & outside. Managed to park the ferrari. It was raining!! Nice people. Been many times
K. D.
Reserved a table on Sat night for 9 at 8pm.
Great - all good brill atmosphere.
I. G.
Huge but good old fashioned pub. Food is excellent. Lots of outdoor space.
L. M.
Lovely Sunday roast. I had the lamb and it was excellent came with 5 different vegetables (kale, carrots, Swede, red cabbage and tendersteam broccoli), mash and roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and a good portion of lamb. The service was good. Only issue was price of soft drinks which were very expensive in my opinion £3 for lime and soda. Overall I would recommend. Also they were able to do gluten free if needed.
R. P.
Excellent food nicely served by pleasant staff.Really busy with young, happy people.
A. C.
In my humble opinion, the best roast dinner in Manchester! Great setting, really fast service, and the staff are incredibly attentive. I’ve never had a bad visit here so thank you! Highly recommend.
t. m.
Great options for lunch time food and drinks at reasonable prices. 5 stars from us
J. A.
Great food, and excellent service, and John was brilliant. Will definitely be back again.

Great service. Social distancing good on the restaurant. Great food as always. The vegan options went down well too
F. V.
We had great Sunday roast.
Staff also very nice.
Would highly recommend..
J. 1.
A good venue for families and friends to socialise, ample indoor and outdoor seating and a decent food and beverage menu. Social distancing easily achieved for small groups dining or drinking together.
Central to West Didsbury and only 10 mins walk from Didsbury Village.
Good parking on site for many vehicles.
S. “. T.

R. 8.
Large popular pub, beautiful building on the pricey side.
m.
Very good range of beers including real-ales. A fine restaurant, excellent bar good, and an outside dining area with quality pizza available make this a great place to visit.
S. C.
Spacious, comfortable bar and restaurant in architecturally beautiful classic hotel style. Check out the restored wooden beamed ceiling. Good beer. Good food. Separate pizza kitchen.
C. L.
Perfect place to meet up for drink after work ( or even during. Just dont tell the boss 🤫) or if you want to have a sit down meal. Massive space indoor and outdoor and definitely has that "weekend" vibe.
B. H.
Had a lovely meal here.. and the waitresses were first class! Had an issue with the draught drinks not being cold but the head guy sorted it straight away! Thank you
A. C.
The most well known pub in Didsbury and South Manchester.
Good amount of seating inside, outside and outside covered area.
Always clean. Serve good food. Professional service. It’s not the cheapest place around but well worth spending the money to go there.
R. G.
Perfect but busy. You can't have both worlds. Would deffo go back.
D. L.
Gorgeous pub, great food and nice selection of drinks.
P. E.
Beautiful setting. Loads of space. Gorgeous decor. Food and service both really good. Slightly disappointed that the pizza kitchen was not open but otherwise excellent.
S. H.
I've been coming here for years- fabulous friendly staff, delicious food and a friendly, relaxed place to while away the hours. Can't praise the staff enough as they go out of the way to accommodate you and make you feel safe.
R. C.
Lovely pub, I like to work in here occasionally.
Y. B.
Haven't been to The Met for a few years and I'm sorry to say was very disappointed with the quality of the food. Lovely place, especially in the sun, and I'd probably go back to try the pizza or some alfresco drinks but would avoid the rest of the menu.
We shared the mushrooms on toast starter and ordered the vegan Wellington and Frosty's sausage main, all which seemed like they had been cooked by someone who's sole culinary training involved watching 'Cook with Kay' videos. The toast starter lacked seasoning with a sauce that seemed like hot cream smothering boiled oyster mushrooms. Sausage quality (not like that) was ok but the mash was lumpy and unseasoned with the peas smothered in the same hot cream sauce as the starter. The Wellington had zero flavour. It was just like eating a punnet of sliced, boiled mushrooms and spinach wrapped in pastry that I think was supposed to be puffed. It was as bad as it sounds. Real, real shame. If you're vegan avoid!!
M. B.
Lovely food served here. Well worth a visit.
D. D.
First time here. Will definitely come back again. Lovely atmosphire, friendly staff
I.
Excellent historic pub. Enjoyed a quick pint on the bar before setting for food elsewhere. Will be coming back to check the food!
L. H.
Really nice pub loved the stone baked pizzas.
R. A.
The stonebaked pizzas here are gorgeous! The Sunday Roasts are great, hallumi sandwich is mega, and the superfood salad is delicious. They have fantastic range of beer and the service is very good too. One of the staff made a fuss of my friend for her birthday just after lockdown & when we visited last night she remembered and chatted again. She couldn’t have done enough to help.
C. G.
Nice place - staff were friendly and it had a homely vibe, with sofa and table seating, would visit again!
M. B.
I only had a starter as I'd already had a big breakfast but I was very impressed. Venue was friendly, spacious and staff were excellent
G.
We visited today for lunch , and for the first time in over 25 years going here I was disappointed. We ordered from the menu a pizza and a burger.food fantastic, except we were told there would be a slight delay between getting the food as it was two separate kitchens.expecting 5 to 10 mins difference.30 minutes later one meal still not arrived.so one meal eaten and one 30 minutes later.please can you arrange some sort of synchronization of the to kitchens.a birthday meal spoilt. Also to many people coming and going between the gap's in the wall.even though clearly signed. Which can not help with your organisation of how many people are in .on a plus side of food was fantastic.and I will not stop us returning.
P. A.
Loved the atmosphere. Nice food! I like the outside area for smokers.
S. D.
Plenty of space for social distancing, really friendly staff, and delicious food - the Chicken Supreme (with the gnocchi) was really interesting, it had a nice lemony zing that wasn't too overpowering, the peas brought a fresh taste, and the salty squash was delicious with the chargrilled chicken. Nice big portions too. My only criticism is the lack of real ales compared with lagers (there's only Timothy Taylor's Landlord) but I'm not marking down for that as it's a wise choice when most people drink lagers. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu as we live just down the road.
S. T. B.
Great staff, clean and tidy venue. Nice atmosphere. Lovely food.
J. G.
Good range of beers - quite spacious and has great ventilated outside space
D. B.
Can't say I cared much for the falconry display but the food was nice.
S. M.
Nice array of beers, nice food generally but the chips were a bit greasy. I may have had the last of them from the fryer. Very spacious inside and outside, so great for the current climate (weather and virus-wise).
N. C.
Really disappointed with the burger had it twice in the space of a week. It was over cooked and burnt nearly to a crisp. Told the waitress who told me that's the way the cook them. Not impressed really. Good service from the staff.
J. F.
Extremely good and often extremely busy pub.
A. C.
Great place, with a great vibe. Definitely will go back. Missed out on the food because we were a little late going in but the seats were comfy and the drinks frosty!
W. C.
Excellent food , staff are wonderful
J. B.
Been in the pub many times, find the staff always helpful and willing to offer advice on the beers. Particular mention to Marcin, Tom and Rachel who always friendly and helpful!
J. C.
Great food and great service from jack!
D. M.
Great place for food and drinks, nice outdoor area, large and spacious. There's a varied menu, indoor and outdoor service as well, very much recommended.
K. M.
Lovely waitress, nice place.
P. F.
Excellent! Food perfect. We had two cod and chips and one lamb roast. It came so quick and wasn't reheated. Staff are amazing in every way. Aware when people are finished their meal without being irritating. Spotless tables. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend. Good atmosphere too. Well done and very well managed. Will be back ! ☺️
A. P. G. (.
Many vegan and vegetarian options, really nice ambient.
C. I.
Been going there for a fair few years...coffee is just right and any entrèe I have had there has been as good as hoped for!
I. W.
Nice selection of beverages and good food to choose from, a real friendly atmosphere, great for families.
Well worth a visit.
P. J.
Love this pub and always happy to visit
N. B.
A stalwart Didsbury regular. The Metropolitan is a large venue with indoor and outdoor(heated) seating. The indoors has various small and large rooms and range from cosy nooks to large open spaces. The food has a consistent quality of pub staples including fish and chips and sausage and mash, sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts/cakes. There is also an outdoor pizza oven and they do regular weekday deals. The wine choice is very good and the bar has a selection of beers and ciders.
N. I.
Lovely food and awesome staff
M. G.
Lovely atmospheric pub but much more than that
H. D.
Lovely staff and also lovely clientele (thank you to the couple who moved tables so we could come in!) Beautiful roast dinners, big portions so come hungry!
R. B.
Best pub in the UK, a true icon of south manchester.
B. f. T. “. f. T.
This place went the extra mile to accommodate my original booking that was unfortunately cancelled due to the booking chaos of lockdown easing. I was originally disappointed as they were not able to do anything but with a bit of table reorganising, I was able to get my table back. Service was great and we all had a lovely time. The pizza is very good!
C. W.
Lovely traditional pub with big leather sofas and log fires for a cold day. It was a beautiful day when we went so we took advantage of there wonderful outside patio area which is massive, loads of space with an outside bar too. We didn't have good but it looked Amazing from what we saw!!! Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.
M. P.
I really love coming to this place. The food is amazing and they have a fantastic beer and wine selection. The general atmosphere and decor is so warm and inviting, You never want to leave. The staff are a notable mention also, as they are always so lovely and kind. Could not reccomend more.
T. R.
Great place, lots of atmosphere, really clean inside and out, food smelt lovely.service good. Realistic prices for drink and food.
P. J.
Great place, lovely food. Staff really friendly.
D. P.
Excellent meal for our 56th wedding anniversary today 19th March. We had our reception upstairs here when it was The Midland Pub.
A.
This is one of my favorites pub and restaurant, great food, brill staff, parking and a fantastic menu, been going here for over 25 years!!
N. M.
Nipped in for quick visit while in Manchester. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. Would love to go back
N. O.
Had a lovely roast on Sunday here. Everything was cooked nicely and the portion was a decent size. I struggled to finish it but managed to in the end.
The service was great from start to finish and I would highly recommend it.
J. S.
Tom and Marcin were great bartenders, recommended several drinks. Great service!
Rachael was also nice!
P. A.
Great place to dine. Varied menu and tasty, freshly prepared food. Impressive Victorian interior with covered outdoor seating, if required. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Good disabled access with accessible toilet. Definitely hope to return.
g. m.
Lovely place. Lovely staff. Good food. Great weather even though I am sure that wasn't down to them.
G. P.
I visited the place on a night out with friends, never been there before. It's good for both social and formal occasions. Mine was just social and was in winter time so I can't comment on sitting outside. The place is quite large and had lots of people that day. There is a dish for everyone on the menu and price-wise I'd say it's between normal to high. It's not as cheap as the Hungry Horse chain of pubs for example. It's got parking space, so that's a plus.
k. j.
Great food a good variety of drinks staff are very friendly great atmosphere
k. d.
Excellent food and service. Reasonably priced
M. P.
Beautiful building. Lovely staff. Food is excellent and well presented! Highly recommend this pub.
They’ve got very good COVID measures in place and are consistent to every time I’ve visited!
There’s parking, too!
J. J.
A hub of pub. Large indoor space, large beer garden (covered and outdoor), food and pizza oven (good food, better than average, a notch below gastropub). Taking covid seriously and have a well thought out system. It's an extremely welcoming space and a great space for meeting mates (whenever that'll be allowed again)
H. S. J. W.
It bugs me that they won't open half of the seating area, even when it's really busy. The coffee is normally okay. Free drinking water. The parking is pretty good in such a busy spot. Good outside seating for events. It's got a lot to offer. But I think it's a bit pricey for what it delivers, just because of where it is. But, it has a lot of foodie competition on Burton Road. It's okay.
S. G.
Wonderful food very friendly staff
S. M.
Beautiful location and delicious food
C. &. T.
Food was fab with Gluten Free catered for plus very helpful staff. Lovely Pub and a cheeky little fire
D. H.
Very nice food and good service...know this sounds...odd...the mash potato needs lot more butter and milk...very dry...
Some extra seasoning salt...
d. m.
Lovely place for lunch......food excellent
V. H.

E. M.
Great choice of beers etc, bar staff very nice and friendly, brill atmosphere, looks great inside..😃👍
P. R.
A lovely place to go for a drink
D. S.
Really well set up for outdoor dining. You can book an outdoor table online and there is a covered area with patio heaters. Large tables too so you can sit 1m apart from others in the group. Friendly and organised staff and a good selection on the menu. I enjoyed the superfood salad with halloumi. I would go back.. especially if l need an outdoor table in winter.
D. a.
Good service good beer good atmosphere
K. H.
Fabulous restaurant, with well spaced tables outside for socially distanced dining. The Sunday roast is ridiculously filling and has so many tasty elements. Lovely attentive staff as well.
M. L.
I've been here a lots of times. Is still one of my favourite pubs. Fireplaces in winter and beer garden in the summer. Great selection of beers, wines and cocktails. The restaurant makes great classic dishes. Very kid friendly.
Z.
Had drinks with my friends on Friday evening here, and then we dined, I had Hake with potatoes and asparagus which was superb, and my friends enjoyed theirs too, thanks to all at The Met and compliments to the chef as the food was pretty good

I've visited twice this month, and found there to be good processes in place for Covid-19 with the one way system, hand sanitizer available, and use of an app to register your details and ordering food and drink. Tables could be placed further apart but it wasn't too busy when I visited. Wide range of drinks available and good atmosphere.
A. T.
Great service beautiful interior lovely food. A must see !
S. A.
Nice venue. Clean, attractive and comfortable. Great place to catch up with friends. Menu a little pricey. Staff a little slow and not too helpful. Had to ask twice if I could order, and that was after being there for around half an hour. Ordered a side of chips, nice, but a little oily. Had a sticky toffee pudding. Portion size was great, but too sickly to finish!
I. L.
One of my favourite pubs in Manchester. Grand old building kept beautifully. Drinks list is extensive and full of quality, the food is excellent and you can choose between eating in the pub area or the more formal dining area. Cracking place to spend an hour or two...
K. C.
Visited for the first time 20th February. So very impressed. This will be our first choice from now on. The first time I have ever had fresh salmon that wasn't overcooked. Delicious. The pudding was to die for, spicy plum crumble, yummy. Could have had a bit more custard ?
S. C. W.
Great pub, nice selection of beers. Food is nice too. Only gripe is that the menu doesn't really change all that much in terms of veggie options, but that's fine. Staff are really nice and friendly, surroundings are pleasant. The building is nice too
A. S.
We had a table booked for my family. for my daughter's graduation.
We order the food and drinks and all came in good time.
Unfortunately we ordered deserts and it didn't turn up till i went and reminded them after 30 odd minutes !!
No apology from staff and no comment about about delay !!
Hope they improve on service.
C.
Very expensive, even for Didsbury's standards, but not a lot to back it up
S. T.
Visited for the breakfast menu. Food was reasonably priced and very enjoyable however the service let the experience down. We waited for almost half an hour before we decided to ask the question, we had noticed others arriving after us had been served already. We were told out ticket hadn't gone through to the kitchen so was overlooked. We asked for two coffees when our food arrived but we had almost finished eating by time they arrived and only one was correct to what we ordered. First one had gone cold by time the correct drink emerged.

Come here often, it is frequently our default option for lunch, coffee, drinks, evening and casual meals. It has everything. Great building, vast and impressive. Excellent staff service and plenty of options for food, drink and dessert. Special mention for the pizza oven menu which is ace and great value with a deal on a different pizza depending on the day of week. Gets busy and lively at weekend evenings so it is decent for socialising and as a group meet up place. Dedicated parking and proper nice outdoor seating area which is perfect summer beer garden and family friendly atmosphere. I've not had a family member that hasn't thoroughly enjoyed it when they have come to visit us in Didsbury.
W. M.
Good venue to meet friends. Staffs are friendly and efficient. Food is nice and great presentation
M. C.
Girl put your records on, too much of a Great Weather Spooners wannabee. Do heart a boardgame and great Wall pictures but loose the uniforms.
K. G.
Just had a delicious brunch, often go for lunch also. Great food and very happy to recommend
E. F.
I would give them 10 stars if I could.
Such helpful friendly staff.
Good food.
Great atmosphere.
Plenty of outside seating in a great setting. Perfect in this hot weather were having right now.
R. “. e. P.
Great pub menu and excellent pizza’s. Really dealing with the lockdown well and standards have remained high. Great dog friendly beer garden. Excellent attentive staff
S. S.
Nice enough place for drinks with a lovely garden area that catches the sun.
However, we have been really disappointed by the food. Today we ordered a pulled pork burger/sandwich from their lunch menu and it was awful: a dry minuscule patty with a bit of sad looking coleslaw underneath on a dry brioche.
We sent it back to the kitchen (something I have never done before) saying we weren’t very impressed with it for nearly £9! The waitress then brought it back explaining “that’s just how the burger is”. No offer to make it complimentary or improve it at all. Very disappointing service. We won’t eat here again.
N. S.
Good place for a drink. Lots of space, but often difficult to get a seat on the weekend. It has a large outdoor area, part of which is under cover, in addition to the inside space.
It serves standard pub grub, which is good quality.
G. D.
Nice cozy atmosphere with the fire going, and the staff were very friendly and served us at the bar very quickly on a Friday night. The only thing that let it down for me was the lack of beer selection - but I suppose if I want craft beer I should go o a craft beer bar! All round pretty great, would visit again.
T. B.
Lovely, relaxing, atmosphere, brought my mum,had fish dish, yum cod cooked lovely, waitress lovely.
E. G.
Aaaaaah yes, the Met. Never fails to disappoint. By the way, great pizza!
A. G.
Came here for work Christmas party. Food was excellent, although the beef was a bit dry - the extra gravy helped. They also have good beer, though a fairly limited selection. Great atmosphere with open fires in each room of the pub.
C. T.
Really nice pub in Disbury, lovely staff, great selection of beer and booze. Good food too.
S. W.
Came on a Sunny day, the garden was packed full of folk enjoying the weather. Outdoor bbq and bar. Food and drinks ok if a little pricey. Staff are friendly. Mix of people and family friendly. Lots of Big tables so great for groups. Has screens showing the football too, which u can also watch outside.
z.
The metropolitan is an amazing building, really lovely atmosphere and a nice place to hang out with friends and family. The Sunday roasts were great, a few of us thought the roasties were a bit boring (not very crispy and tasty) and Yorkshire puddings weren't hot but the rest was lovely! Staff were friendly and helpful too.
W.
Great service and always with a smile, especially from Sion. Thank you.
L. B.
Great food nice atmosphere shall go again
A. T.
Beautiful place, great service, great choice of food. Had a lovely time and will definitely be back.
B. H.
Good in the sun, decent selection of beers. Fantastic service. Improvement on clientele for the 5 star and win xo
T. A.
Great place to go for a drink on a Friday night. Beware though, it's always super busy. There's always a really mixed crowd and the atmosphere is excellent. The drinks are at the upper end of the price range for the area - two pints of fairly standard IPA came to £9.50.
B. H.
Good atmosphere, tasty food but presentation lacked finesse!
S. B.
A really lovely place. I have only been once, it was absolutely packed but because the weather was nice there was plenty of room outside for everyone. A pizza counter outside, they cook it there, another bar outside and a good selection of food. Right near the tram stop so a perfect meeting place.
A. M.
Love the open veranda type part of this pub, like being inside but all the atmosphere of outside, and the guy that waited on us was super
R. C.
Visited here on a Saturday night and it was a little too busy. The place itself is inviting and could have a chilled out luxurious ambience, that's if it isn't spoiled by a loud idiot friend making a fool of themselves being told to be quite by a member of staff!
Only had drinks here so can't comment on food. It does look like a good place to go for lunch if the food is anything like the surroundings. Seems to be a good starting point for a big night out too.. minus your drunk idiot friend!
D. M.
Great service all staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely seating area outside under cover and heaters on...brilliant! Oh and good freshly cooked pizza! ❤
B. T.
I like the location, atmosphere and huge outdoor seating area here. It's nice to come for a drink in the summer and the food is ok - standard pub food really, nothing particularly special. They've now got a pizza menu which you are only allowed to order from if you are sitting outside. And you can't order the normal menu outside. Seems like a backward way of doing things.
M. S.
Great pub and great food
R.
I have been meaning to go to this pub for a while and definitely glad that I did. We were there on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it was packed - inside and out. We opted to sit outside to lap up the British sun...although we were glad that we brought jackets!
As we were planning having a meal later on we decided to share a margarita pizza. It was nice but not amazing. A little too much cheese for my liking. But the prices are definitely competitive for the area. The outside area includes numerous tables and also a very smart pizza oven and outdoor bar.
Will be returning
P. W.
Love it. Big. Loads of good beer. Plenty of room. Decent prices. Good food. Covered and here outside area, all weather, that shows sports. Has own pizza kitchen as well as the restaurant. Open all day from breakfast on.
G. S.
Very large corner pub, excellently furnished, with cask beer & cask marque
T. M.
Expensive but fancy. The Met is an established Didsbury institution. Alcohol is a tad more expensive than surrounding places but not by much.
Breakfast is very high quality and value for money. If it's a weekend you will need to book in advanve. Vegetarian food from the main menu never seems to be great and same goes for the Sunday roast.
The atmosphere is always good. The building itself is beautiful with a dark wood grand country pub feel.
Staff are mainly polite and efficient. Don't expect to strike up a conversation or any banter.
A. N.
Excellent place to eat, great atmosphere, and a very tasty, seasonal menu. The Sunday roast is also excellent, and service is always very friendly. Can be a bit of a wait for food when busy, but that's to be expected, and is well worth the wait!
N. M.
Welcoming atmosphere and great selection of dishes, the pizzas and calzones in particular were beautiful. Lovely selection of drinks and nice desserts. Only thing for improvement is that I was very disappointed to find there were no paper straws and plastic was used; I would like to see an effort to cut out single-use plastics.
J. L.
Homely, high quality local gastro pub in the heart of West Didsbury. A real gathering spot in both winter and summer with a decent size patio and outdoor area and he lofty ceilings and space inside with real fires in winter. Only mark down here is it is on there more expensive side especially the food which I don't feel is anything that out of the ordinary and compared to the other places locally is a bit steep. Worth a visit for a few drinks when in the neighborhood though for sure.
K. M.
Great outside seating area for drinks in the summer. Big classic indoor area for the winter! Good range of drinks. Didn't eat though. Chilled out place.
D. A.
The quality and presentation of the food is really very good and the service is also very calm and yet efficient.
It's hard to imagine that it is such a good restaurant because it's attached to a busy pub and a pizza bar but it really is top notch and worth a visit.
P. W.
Just used after a relatives funeral we had been to at Southern Cemetery
P. L.
Outstanding pub!!! Good food. Good Beer. Excellent atmosphere. Can't explain just how lovely a place this is. Full of off duty medical staff most of the time, all base's covered.
G. A.
Good place fir a few social beers, pretty reasonable range of wines as well
f.
A step above your usual pub grub, but still in a nice relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly staff and a great beer garden.
A. M.
Fantastic pub with lots to offer. Great food menu, and a large eating area. Massive outside area, front and back, good choice of beers and a large inside. Its so big you can do not know your friends are there all night
J. G.
My girlfriend and I went to The Met for a Sunday roast that can only be described as epic. Each time we have been we have not been disappointed at all. The quality of the food is consistently great, and plenty of it. The warm chocolate pudding was particularly delicious. The decor and atmosphere is very welcoming and different to a lot of places in Manchester, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!
S. D.
A local of mine, always clean, always consistent.. a little on the pricey side compared to other pubs in the vicinity. It doesn't attract the best clientele over the weekend, and can get extremely busy (15 deep to the bar) so best to avoid Friday/Saturday if you can.
I am told the Sunday lunch is really good, however yet to try it. There's a big beer garden out the back, which gets sun until 7pm! Also outside you can order oven fired pizzas, which are cooked in front of you!
b. c.
Staff were friendly and helpful amazing sized portions of food, beautiful restaurant
L. K.
Beautiful with a buzz and atmosphere that is hard to beat
C. F.
Great food at reasonable price. We went on a Tuesday night and it wasn't too busy or loud then. It's recommend booking the restaurant at weekends.
W. D.
Great barmaid. Definitely lookedclike a viking to me♥️😎♥️
S. D.
Lovely atmosphere! During the day lots of yummy mummy groups can be found enjoying the food and nattering. Pizzas are always fresh and tasty I enjoy mine on the outside terrace.Relaxed and friendly. Helpful professional staff and the food comes highly revommended, plenty of choice to suit all tastes. Competatively priced. A large pub which is the heart of the community. Accommodates all ages with quiet nooks and afternoon tea. Lovely, large outside covered area with pizza oven and plenty of tables and chairs. Lots of different rooms each having a diffetent feel. Highly recommended.
J. L.
Went for lunch today after reading the reviews with a little apprehension.. so glad we did. Not to expensive..not poor service..had the pork and the missus had the risotto. . excellent food.. along with a nice glass of red wine. Make sure you go before the rush starts is the tip..as its a big pub and delays with fresh food are obvious.
Well done to the staff..
J. D.
Great place to stop and get some tasty food in didsbury , very warm and welcoming
M. B.
Only went in for drinks, friendly service, nice atmosphere for late Saturday afternoon.
T. M.
Great atmosphere and good place to hang out drinking with friends - food good too
p. o.
On sunday the 3rd of March we had a 90th Birthday celebration for my dad a nd I'm very pleased to say a brilliant time was had by all. Thank you to Mel and her teàm for making the day extra special. This venue is highly recommended. The food is fantastic! I advise you to go and sample the food and the atmosphere it's superb. Thank you for making this birthday extra special.
J. R. G.
For me this is one of the best pubs I have ever been. I used to go a lot when I was living in Manchester. The food is very good but also I love the atmosphere in the summer terrace. I used to go on Fridays to have some beers with my friends.
C. J.
Great food and beer, waiting staff excellent - one extremely annoying manager though that kept trying to get us moved out of our seats in the restaurant... Despite 2/3rds being empty & probably spending a combined £200+ 🤷♂️
B. C.
Very nice pizzas from their own pizza oven. Friendly service, nice atmosphere. Dogs welcome in certain areas of premises. Fairly expensive £9.50 for a pizza. Though it is very nice.
o. d.
Excellent large pub/restaurant
M. T.
Fantastic range of drinks, especially Gins, whiskeys and wine. The food here is good too. Fast service, great cocktails, and even though it's quiet a big pub, it still feels cosy.
J. H.
As a party of 15 were all very happy with our meals. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Outside area with pizza oven and large patio is an added bonus. Will definately be returning.
e. c.
Since opening after lockdown they haven't really got the service figured out, and they'd ran out of cask ale. The app worked well for ordering however conventional table service was too slow. Hopefully will improve as places start to reopen
G. P.
Always loved it here. Plenty of staff and never have to wait long to get served.
Drinks and food are not cheap but it's the price you pay for good surroundings, polite staff and a clean environment.
Great outdoor space with cover and an outside bar in the summer (or when the staff can manage the cold temperatures).
C. C.
£5 house pizzas before 7pm Mon-Fri. Get's a bit full of kn*bheads of a weekend if it's sunny some times. Beer selection is 'steady'. Nice enough place though!
R. S.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here - amazing food, generous portions and really attentive service. Couldn't fault anything. We will definitely be back :) Thank you!
P. W.
Very good pub diner . Good menu throughout the day. Drinking & dining areas are well set out. Special 2/3 course deal between 5/7. Good parking for customers.
S. N.
l just went in for a drink but my son got the fish and chips. Good portion looked fresh and he had no complaints. Nice venue kept tidy.
K. E. J.
The Metropolitan always warms my heart as I'm a Didsbury girl originally. It's a lovely building with lots of original features. The restaurant area is light and airy and has a pleasant ambience. As a 'Coeliac' I would just like to see more gluten free options on the Mains and Desserts menus, hence the 4 rather than 5 stars presently !
B. d. M.
Amazing in all aspects. Perfect place, customer service and everything!
E. C.
Vegetarian and vegan options are quite appalling. I think the rest of the food looked nice but: the 'Roasted figs, vegan cheese curds, roasted pine nuts,
pomegranate vinaigrette, chicory leaf salad' came as one raw fig cut in four pieces with some salad - we sent it back to the kitchen and it came back with half a spoon of cheese curds. Underwhelming is an understatement. The beetroot Wellington main consisted of pieces of diced beetroot wrapped in some pastry. I think the rest of the food looked nice but the chefs definitely need to reconsider their vegetarian and vegan options.
S. C.
Great food and drink selection. Really nice surroundings. Only problem is if you are sat outside as we were you kind of get forgotten about.
A. E.
A huge old building housing a nicely pub, serving good food and drinks. Staff are polite and friendly. The price of the food is higher than elsewhere, but the quality is great, making it a good choice.
i. p.
One of our favourite places to go. Nice atmosphere, nice food, good people. Very busy during the weekend. The only downside is the cakes. They are a bit dry
P. S.
Giving it 5 stars because the mushroom pizza is the best pizza I've had since the mozerella one I had at Rudy's about 6 months ago. Try it...worth a tenner. Go on....try their Leapold pizza for pete's sake.
B. M.
Great food with a lovely heated outdoor seating area so it's great for the winter months. Their stone baked pizzas + Sunday roasts are the best in the business.
k. j.
Great place for a beer after work. Beautiful building with alot of history behind it. Very large indoor and outdoor seating and freshly made food to order all day long.
V. C.
Lovely food, staff that made the experience a tpuch more personal.
T. M.
Plenty of friendly staff behind bar no waiting to be served but prices a bit too steep for my pocket
K. F.
Tones of seating and great selection of beers on tap. Food is great especially the burgers and pizzas. One of the busiest places on sunny days due to its large beer garden.
S. S.
Nice local pub. The garden out at the back of the pub is nice in the summer with plenty of places to sit. Even though it's a big pub, it can get pretty busy, especially at the weekends. Large carpark.
A. K.
Has a huge beer garden for summer time drinking and is great in the winter for mulled wine by the fire! Pretty traditional décor but with a modern twist. Always has a good atmosphere through the week and is often rammed at the weekends but usually with a more pretentious crowd. Have only eaten there once, the food was good although the coffee and cake weren't anything to shout about. It’s on the more expensive side drinks wise but relative to prices in West Didsbury. They've just got a new outdoor pizza oven too which is exciting!
M. L.
Great outside area and pizza kitchen. About 5 different real ale taps on that are well conditioned although a little on the pricy side. Large selection of drinks.
H. C.
Lovely pub! Interesting decor and rooms. Great food, good service, fair prices. Good range of drinks. Food available breakfast, lunch, dinner plus tea/coffee and cake. Car park.
M. G.
Brilliant Pub very Snug in Winter with real fire Totally converted from a run down druggie den from few decades away...
Has good menu and bar snack Up Market prices to match Clients who use imho...
K. S.
Can get busy and sometimes loud. Great food in the restaurant and has a pizza Oven in the beer Garden. Go to for Coffee and Cake. Lovely fire in the winter. Cosy spot.
M. P.
Sulky staff, over priced food, poorly timed service.
Ordered bread and oil which was forgotten because when it was served the server said the mains were 'almost ready' (read had been ready for at least 5 minutes). The bread on the burgers was soggy to the point of falling apart when picked up and the 'triple cooked chips' were pretty much cold and raw.
The waitress did not apologise for the state of the food but did replace the bun fairly quickly.
Both burgers were delicious but the experience was ruined.
What a shame as the venue is lovely.
I might come again although 12.95 per main is a bit much for what we were served.
G. O.
Great service and drinks and outdoor seating
h. m.
Excellent food. Wonderful service thanks to Carolyn and Carlos, who looked after me and daughter on a special visit. Love this place. We go there for food every time I visit Manchester
J. R.
Had breakfast. 2x scrambled eggs, one with salmon, one with mushroom.
Relatively well presented
Affordable.
Muffin too large and stodgy. Very lightly toasted.
Eggs cooked well (not over done) but a little stingey on portion size.
Coffee good, smoothy good.
Overall a nice breakfast however for a good price.
M. B.
Had a lovely breakfast with my family. Staff was very friendly
L. M.
Carlos is a sensational waiter who will never leave you needing a drink. 5 star service, see you next week
p. h.
Ideal venue. Fabulous food and excellent service. Would highly recommend.
D. h.
Good food but service could have been quicker.
D. P.
Just popped in for a quick half and to get a Wi-Fi connection. Very pleasant at noon on a Tuesday. Seems to have a good selection of wines and spirits and ciders, and a limited but diverse and well chosen selection of beers ( including Deuchars IPA, a personal favourite).
D. C.
Had lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Great atmosphere, helpful waiters, good food. Spacious but with some quite corners of you want to be low key. I would definitely be going back.
C. H.
If you're a fan of "The Only Way is Essex" then this bar is probably for you. No real character, just really posh/pretentious. The outdoor seating area is great some parts are heated and some parts are under a gazebo type thing. I would give 3.5 stars if i could as that's where it sits for me. All in all it has a nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly but the downside for me is that its a bit expensive and the place is a bit to pretentious.
"Essex" or "Made in Chelsea" fans this is for you...
B. B.
Lovely atmosphere and great service for family celebration. Shame the fish n chips were very disappointing. 3 medium size should be renamed small. Soft batter n soft little chips.
T. B.
Food is fairly decent with a nice chilled atmosphere but the only thing that lets it down is the slight problem we had with the waitress when she sniggered at the food we ordered but other than that it was good.
L. T.
I am not a regular but I enjoy every visit. There is plenty of seating in a variety of styles. Range of beers ok but is good enough to keep an ale enthusiastic happy.
S. C.
Huge and delicious roast dinner. Other meals were a normal size and very tasty. Not the cheapest but lovely place to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon.
d. c.
We took our elderly parents for lunch. The venue is great our favourite pub. The food was excellent and do was the service. Highly recommended.
A. B.
Lovely pub to come for a chat. The food smelled amazing even though I wasn't eating any. The only down side was.... the noise of people talking made it difficult for me to hear my conversation
d. h.
My local for a long time and I love to go back even for a coffee - feel really welcome every time.
s. n.
Sunday dinner is divine, one of the best I've had and is huge. Loved the Yorkshire pud and gravy. Would defo come again.
J. H.
Lovely pub serving tasty food and a large variety of drinks. Cosy atmosphere and a large outdoor seating area with heat lamps.
K. H.
Food first class also service
N. C.
Bloody expensive bottles of Rioja! £26.50 a time.
H. W.
Great for a group brunch meet up. Service excellent & everyone enjoyed the food. The breakfast selection tin menu gave everyone a good choice.
E. T.
Huge pub. Nice open and spacious seating areas and good atmosphere. I only had a pudding but it was nice. Reasonably priced
A. G.
Just had the wake for my mum here and have to say staff were great, the food was excellent and the room was warm and inviting. Will certainly return for a night out on a happier occasion.
m. s.
Nice atmosphere, not too loud, and easy to distance given the current climate.
M. C.
Great pub for meeting friends. Food was quick and decent
D. D.
What happened to the Met, first trip in over 18 months and just paid nearly 15 pounds for a pint and a pimms amd lemonade
A. I.
A favourite pub with lots of character. A couple of quieter rooms off the main area where it's much easier to have conversations. Lots of leather armchairs, wooden benches with cushions and wood panelling.
K. G.
Good covid measures Staff excellent. Food very good . Guinness good but a bit pricey
R. G.
The biggest bar in west Didsbury. A great lively place which is popular with all groups and ages with a really great beer garden and pizza oven. I'm yet to try the restaurant. The only down side is the price, bit steep but I guess that's Manchester
D. S.
The 5 stars are for the building and the beers, both are fantastic. It would be unfair to bump the score down to a 3 because of some of the patrons but this pub suffers from the type of people wanting to treat it like a Jungle Jim's with a bar.
L. G.
Went here on a busy Sunday afternoon. The staff were helpful but the food was a little overpriced and low quality unfortunately. Wasn't too impressed and would likely only return for a passing drink. Fantastic looking pub from the outside though.
A. E.
Food standards seem to have slipped a little. Ordered a steak medium rare which came medium to well. After sending it back I was asked if I would like it a little more pink which was a little condescending. I asked for it to be cooked the way I ordered it. When it came back it was rare. Steak is definately not this chefs speciality. It's a shame as the starter were lovely. Perhaps this was just a blip.
J. S.
Spent a lovely afternoon having lunch in a very friendly and relaxed restaurant in The Metropolitan. Good food including some interesting veggie dishes and all well priced AND baby enjoyed it too, very child friendly.
T. N.
The food was brilliant, staff warm and friendly but the waiting time for meals not so good. Still, all in all I would recommend this establishment and I will be returning.
J. C.
I was going to be churlish and give this three stars, but you know what, it's a nice pub, there's decent variety of stuff at the bar, it's cosy enough and the food is entirely reasonable (the pizzas are good).
Avoid it on Friday and Saturday nights as the entirety of Didsbury and the surrounding area seems to descend on the pub.
P. W.
Big pub. Lots of room. Good beer. Good food. Shows sports. Good service. All year outdoor seating with pizzeria that shows sports when there is something special on.
M. M. D.
Been twice for Sunday lunch and both times was absolutely amazing, from the food to the service. Cant rave enough about the place. My new favourite place. Will be going again soon.
B. a.
Enjoyed my time there 😁
R. W.
A very welcoming pub, lots of seating friendly staff, a great night out
p. m.
Great place, good food, staff are always friendly. Always find parking. Nice part of town.
A. W.
The outside seating area here is one of the best around. Even good in the winter as it is partially covered. Never eaten in the resturant here but been to a family due here with a spread and all of the food was top quality for a spread. Good priced drinks and friendly staff.
K. K.
Great space for private meeting
J. H.
Excellent service, friendly staff, very good food. I'm a vegetarian and they were extremely helpful as I did'nt like the vege options on offer.would definitely return.
S. A.
We always enjoy the setting and staff serving drinks were friendly.Has good beer and wine and food
J. T.
Lovely pub. Beautiful indoors and out. Food always good except for one time when they didn't cook my burger properly (I was pregnant). Shame about the slow service.
j. l.
Great building. Drinks a bit pricey. Great oitdoor area and barn bar. A perenial favourite. Good selection of beers. Weekend evenings very busy with trendy crowd
M. C.
It's a sunny Sunday in South Manchester, where else should you head to but West Didsbury, and more specifically The Metropolitan. Loads of outdoor space to make the most of the fleeting summer evenings. A great selection of real ales and craft beers. Family and dog friendly atmosphere, all in a great place to enjoy a drink or two.
J. G.
Thanks for thanking me 😊
It's no problem. I don't know the name of the person who served us but she added to the occasion by being very pleasant and interacting with us without being intrusive.
The food was scrummy and I particularly liked my calzone. Nom nom.
J. W.
Went to a 100 th Birthday party today . The Buffet was Delicious and the lady serving was lovely and very helpful. A very enjoyable afternoon
J. M.
We enjoy coming here for a drink in the garden, could get pretty crowded at times but there is plenty of seating. Prices reflect the fact that its located in west didsbury! Great building!!
S. T.
Great pub and atmosphere!
K. L.
It was good to meet up with the family for a drink nd a dessert
O. C.
We enjoyed the atmosphere. We were treated with respect and courtesy. The service was very good and the meals arrived on time and was extremely enjoyable. We will be visiting again that is for certain.
J. J.
Really nice atmosphere and the food is delightful. Quite pricey and can get very busy at times.
Z. E. B.
Great big pub in Didsbury not far from Burton Road tram stop. Visited after work on a Friday to grab some food in the large beer garden where pizzas and salads are served.
The bar is well stocked serving real ale, cider and lager on tap. Food needs to be ordered from your table. Extremely popular and can get rammed later in the evening.
S. M.
This is 1 of oldest West Didsbury pubs eatery on Burton Road. I got fired as student from this pub for missing a stift xmas 1999!! 🤣 This a great place amazing food great whisky rum and gin selection. Beer is always perfectly kept. Open fires in the winters. Stylish decor a must try for newbies to West Didsbury.
A. S.
Good Food and staff very friendly, made to feel very welcome. Will definitely be coming back in the near future
H. P.
Not been here in a while. Still a great place to meet for a drink or even a date night. Beautiful building and a great outdoor section for the warmer months.
J. D.
Good food
N. A.
Lots of staff avoiding eye contact as we approached the bar. When we finally were acknowledged we were made to feel like an inconvenience. Didn't expect such poor and rude service.

Long standing key pub in W. Didsbury. Quality drinks, restaurant, and bar food. Very large indoor, outdoor and semi outdoor spaces. Classy yet comfortable. Wonderful at Xmas.
J. W.
Huge pub located in an old building. Good range of beer and a delicious aubergine bake. Great place to watch the rugby.
J. G.
Great pub, well kept landlord and excellent service.

A staple of the west didsbury circuit. The met provides reliable food and drink with a good beer garden. It best enjoyed during a sunny afternoon although its best to get there early as it often gets really busy, you'll struggle to get a table.

Thanks to the lovely staff at the metropolitan for providing an afternoon tea after being let down at short notice by a restaurant on burton road. We had a lovely afternoon and were looked after very well by friendly helpful staff.
D. T.
The Metropolitan is a warm, friendly place to visit for either a coffee, or a meal staff are alway friendly and welcoming, the food in top draw, and they also carry a large selection of wines, beers, and spirits, one of my favourite watering holes when in Manchester.

Used to be reasonably priced now I think it's anticipating what everyone will pay to be in West Didsbury and has crept, no leapt it's prices over the last few years. Good location rammed solid when it's sunny, nice grassy area to sit on, rammed solid when it's sunny, much better than average food for a pub but did I mention what happens when it's sunny?
G. B.
The Metropolitan is a beautiful-looking pub/restaurant, but the prices are a little steep when you consider what you are actually buying - not good value for money.
When dining in large groups, the menu becomes severely restricted, and menu choices for vegetarians are pretty poor.
Not one of the best places to eat or drink in Manchester.
N. B.
Great food in the restaurant - cant fault the quality or staff. Also great just for a drink in the pub - can be busy though
I. K.
Great large pub, good outdoor space and the staff are friendly. Interior is nice and doesn't look run down like some other pubs.

I picked my fiancé and some of the stag do party up from here. It was their last stop on the Didsbury dozen. They seemed pretty happy and jolly and my fiancé is passed out tucked up in bed. So I'm guessing the venue was a delight! The car was very spacious and a nice amount of room to turn around in. Lovely lights in the trees.

Great food and service

Always lovely food and staff are very nice also

Friendly and helpful staff served a tasty and warming Sunday lunch.(The portions were huge, next time I will skip breakfast and go earlier!) Enjoyable.
M. B.
Great selection of drinks. Great food. Lovely warm fire in winter, nice beer garden in summer. You are paying for quality here
C. M.
Excellent food and although it was very busy with Christmas parties, the service was relatively quick. Good value for money too.
A. F.
Admittedly this pub has got far better over the years, especially with the extended beer garden at the back. If they could make it less like a Weatherspoons it would attract far more customers into Didsbury.
A. C.
Great place for drinks during the week. Busy at weekends. Especially around lunch time-worth booking ahead if you want lunch on Saturday or Sunday.
S. M.
Just like any other bar in Didsbury
V. B.
Great staff! Lovely food! Good atmosphere in these trying times
B. L.
We have eaten here twice now and the food and service cannot be faulted. My daughter became unwell so the staff kindly boxed her food up to take home. I highly recommend going there if you're in West Didsbury Village
J. H.
Great pizzas. Lots of old photos and pictures from around the turn of the 20th century. Decor authentic. Lovely place for a cosy date 😚
L. L.
Lovely pub, really large space but gets busy at the weekend so arrive early to get a seat!
A. K.
One of the most atmospheric pubs I have been in UK. A width selection of ales and beers, very good food and last but not least friendly staff.
C. K.
This place is a bit of a meat market, on the weekend it's full of young professionals out to pull, no music no atmosphere. On the positive side a beautiful building and they have slushy cider!
j. R.
Good large pub with seating inside and out and covered outside seating. Great atmosphere and a good pint. The pizzas were good as well
E. B.
Great food, nice staff but the track and trace app was hard to find your way around
B. E.
Great meet up spot with some chilled out seating. Getting a seat can be pot luck. Drinks quite expensive. Especially non-alcoholic drinks.
i. b.
Great beer garden and food; had the seafood linguini which was lovely
S. D.
Excellent food and service
S. F.
Fantastic pub, great for a few drinks after week or the weekend. Huge place but always very busy. One of the cornerstones of West didsbury.
J. B.
Wonderful building, great service. Many tables reserved for Sunday lunches. Great food, charming menu selection, and tasteful staff.
S. D.
Always delicious with excellent service overseen by the same wonderful manager for the last 20 years. Cant find a better Sunday lunch.
J. D.
gastro pub in the heart of West Didsbury. The place is beautiful and whenever I've eaten the did is great.. In particular the met burger was delicious, it's always very busy if the weather is nice.
C. R.
lovely atmosphere. delightful food we only had finger food but great variety. loved by all.
R. H.
Often come here for a coffee during the day time. Clean establishment with free parking. Of a weekend evening it gets very busy with limited places to sit in doors however they have an outside section with heating.
V. P.
Lovely decorv an olde worlde library style plenty of seating outside large car park very nice ambiance
G. H.
Always end up here! Lovely log fires & loads of wee places to sit, coffee & drinks always good, food can be a bit hit or miss must depend on chef?!
J. j.
I’d like to give this 1 star due to the harsh and borderline rude attitude from the restaurant staff, however the food has always been top quality and the staff at the bar and terrace area are friendly and understand the concept of customer service. Won’t be eating inside again.
P. R.
Good place, lots of life - always busy but rarely unpleasantly full. Good food and range of drinks. Near a variety of other bars too
M. R.
Lovely pub ,nice friendly staff, well worth a visit, good range of food and drink, from a light snack to a full on meal.
I. D.
Great Sunday lunch but service is consistently slow at busy times. This however is fine if you want to spend the afternoon sampling their selection of beer & ales.
s.
Very nice food
i. w.
big and busy but had a nice feel, did not eat so cant comment on that, huge heated outside area with a bar, smokers will be very happy
M. N. (.
Great food and great staff. Must make a booking and be prepared to spend a bit more than most places.
L. C.
Lovely food and great to take a wheelchair. Easy access. Good covered/uncovered outdoor area. Plenty of parking spaces.
A. L. (.
Extensive menu, staff were really friendly. It's a little expensive compared to other places nearby but it's worth it for the service and atmosphere.
L. T.
A great local pub for brunch, dinner or just a good old fashioned beer with friends. A great place for drinks in the summer outside or by the fire inside in the winter.
J. D.
Great place, service good and well trained. Large outdoor area that's very busy in the summer. Pricing on the high side but similar to all the bars in the area.
S. H.
Really good large gastro pub. Food is excellent, service is good. It's a little expensive but no more so than you'd expect in West Didsbury.
R.
beautiful interior and vegan options in classics (bangers + mash!)/pasta/salads. Lovely staff, will visit again
S. J.
Lovely place any time of a day - for breakfast, lunch, diner or drinks. Great atmosphere, selection of drinks and tasty food. One of my favourite places in Manchester.
D. O.
Great choice on the menu, caters well for vegetarians. Large portions of well cooked food. Friendly stafff
T. C.
Great pub, great food, great atmosphere, a little on the expensive side for some of the beer but on par with the area. Interior is fantastic!
S. R.
Plenty of seating. Only had drinks mid-week. Massive pub so bright and noisy rather than cosy.
Z. F.
Great food and service. It was great to be out again!
P. F.
This is our third visit to the Met and we've never been disappointed. It is not a fast food establishment, so if you come to relax and have some good food, you'll be going hone happy.
J. S.
Love this pub. Great beer garden, amazing selection of beers and spirits. Food is also really good.
B. W.
The biggest pub in West Didsbury. Always busy at the weekend. Great seating for when it's sunny. Food is a bit pricey, but good.
T. B.
Great setting with plenty of room, however, the place is popular and gets quite busy. It is rather expensive though. Car parking for customers.
S. C.
Large airy very stylish pub with a comprehensive drinks menu. Large beer garden and pizza bar. A sophisticated night out
K. C.
Great vibe and large selections of tap beers. good social distancing measures in place.
S. K.
Nice! Bit pricey
