Reviews of Oxnoble Manchester
M.
Used to come here a lot when Castlefield was newly regenerated. Had been here back in the 1970's / 80's when the area was quite run down. Tend to visit the Northern Quarter more often now.Think it became a foodie place for a while but definitely now a pub that serves food. Had a lovely pint of Green Duck Blond.
C. W.
Called in for a breakfast and a pint of Guinness (well it is st Patrick's Day)
Staff were welcoming and friendly, food was delicious great start to the day in Manchester.
J. O.
Stayed here the night before our holiday, only a 20 minute drive to the airport, Great pub nice comfy bed lovely fresh bedding, everything in walking distance lots of choice for food and drink in the area.Dan was our host for the morning who was very polite and helpful, The breakfast was a full English cooked by the delightful Al who came out for a chat.. Well done guys we will definitely be back 😁😁😁
J. M.
Really nice pub, fairly priced and the bartender was chatty and friendly
S. S.
Nice atmosphere, I had a Sunday roast was really delicious
J. B.
Good vibes, very decent selection of drinks. Beer garden and seats on the road. Very low-key. Great for a summers day
G. W.
Stopped in room 7 mid week. Nice room - clean and tidy, very helpful and welcoming team! Keep up the good work 👍.

J. W.
Lovely experience, was served by Maisie, blonde barmaid with glasses. She was knowledgable, friendly and served us quickly. Would definitely come again
m. b.
Amazing food staff room was well equipped easy to get to and from will definately stay again well done to guys who booked us in and saw to our needs xxx
P. W.
Chicken Sunday Roast, good portion of meat, on the bone tho which isn't my preference, would have liked more potatoes and cabbage. Dog friendly pub depending if that is or isn't your thing, not ideal when a dog is sick on the floor near where you're eating, fortunately I'd just finished. Not sure about dogs in food areas personally but you may not be bothered. Good value roast for £12.50 though.

On a rainy Saturday afternoon, my wife and I went into the Oxnoble pub for a quick and simple meal. Found the place nice and tidy, pleasant atmosphere, and the staff were very friendly and quite efficient. And the food was totally excellent. In my book, a general rule is that if a diner closes his eyes while eating, that's a sign of good quality, and I so did. I cannot sufficiently praise the Chicken, Ham & Leek Pie; it was delicious. Also the desserts were memorable, both the Chocolate Brownie and the Strawberry Mess. As I'm not a frequent pub goer, I'm not quite sure what my preconceived expectations were, but they were easily exceeded by a great margin. I warmly recommend the place, and would definitely eat there again.
P. K.
We popped in from museum, food was well priced and amazing quality. Caesar salad, Thai curry, breaded chicken and sweet potato chips, and two to mash potatoes and sausages all were impressed with our dishes, staff was friendly and helpful.
V. H.
My second home - a refreshing pint and amazing staff every day after work is truly a good way to end the day!
H. P.
Popped in here after visiting the science museum and had an amazing bowl of waffle fries with Mac n cheese and bacon. Really friendly service. Would definitely go back

R. S.
Lovely pub. Great friendly staff. Hot, well presented food. Came in for a drink and decided to stay.
J. M. C.
Food was great, it's always a struggle to find a place with a selection of vegetarian food (specifically meat alternatives) so I will definitely be back.
Nice atmosphere, decent prices and nice staff. One was very helpful when I asked about how the vegetarian food was cooked - I think her name was Macintosh (sorry if that's wrong). Will 100% be back :)
D. V.
Amazing food and atmosphere!

We come here occasionally for dinner as it is close to where we live. It usually is a very busy place and has good vibe. It’s like a comfortable local pub. The food is always delicious and service is good. Pie is especially delicious. Also their chips are chunky and yummy!
R. D.
Went for a meal on Sunday, great customer service, roast beef was soft and juicy, everything was beautifully cooked. Would definitely go there again.

The pub seemed clean, staff welcoming, beer fine.

Visited the oxnoble recently and I was so impressed!! This was my first time visiting and its such a lovely place and everyone was so welcoming and helpful! Especially Ian, he went above an beyond to make sure I enjoyed my stay there. He went out of his way to offer some veggie bits to eat and also explained what drinks offers were on as well, couldn't fault him! Very efficient service and the food was great. Will definitely be returning! :)
F.
Great pub, great beers and great atmosphere.
R. M.
Amazing burgers and fab beer prices!
C. I.
Lovely place, only downer was that it was very cramped for our Christmas party by the front door and the food was delicious but small (personally would love more but only because I'm nearly 37weeks pregnant and quite an appetite 🤣). And the music was brill, whoever was singing tonight (December 8th), you are amazing.
J. L.
Good atmosphere good beer and wine I personally found the Beef roast over cooked but my compadre liked it
And the fudge Sundae was excellent
S. B.
Great atmosphere, good selection of drinks. Went on a Saturday was very busy as football was on.

I was coming back from a bad day of work and went to the oxnoble with my flatmate for a drink. it was more than a pleasant experience in fact it was fantastic. Stayed until close, the server Mackenzie was serving us most of the night and provided us with tasty and quick drinks. The entire vibe was nice and definitely made my day. Will be returning soon for amazing service and a fantastic pub
M. C.
Lovely pub with very friendly staff. Special mention to Mackenzie who was welcoming and very friendly . Had a great time and would highly recommend the Oxnoble. Drinks are very reasonably priced and the food was great .
Z. K.
The place was cute and cosy, staff was very friendly. Unfortunately food portions were small and it was barely warm. Overall 3/5
M. S.
Stayed as a guest for two days over the course of the week. Comfortable and spacious rooms with the usual three star amenities. A little noisy till 11 P.M. on a weekday but overall quieter at night. Affordable for a short stay.
W. R.
Excellent! We were made to feel welcome and the food and drink were superb,we will return.
S. M.
Nice pub to pop into at lunch - not too pricy and quite nice vibes.
L. P.

M. G.
It's a pub. A local. Good draught beer. Friendly atmosphere. Busy. Large tables for groups of friends. Didn't eat here.
A.
Came in for food and drinks which were lovely and the atmosphere was great but the whole experience was made more pleasurable by one of your waitresses, Tash. She was so warm and friendly from walking through the doors and made sure we had everything we needed! Would come again!
C. T.
Macy was fab, really helpful and friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere after a day of shopping!

Enjoyed a takeaway bacon sandwich this morning, very tasty!
R. S.
Amazing big rooms lovely pub down stairs friendly team was a great stay only thing that let it down was the shouting of the house keeping from quite early on but wouldn't stop me from staying again.
K. F.

We recently stayed 3 nights and had a wonderful time. We checked in about 8pm and James took great care of us and we were up in our room in minutes. The room was clean and comfortable despite showing some signs of wear. But for the price, it was exactly what we expected. Bed was comfortable and room temperature easy to control. There is definitely some street noise and sounds from the Pub downstairs, but nothing that kept us awake. We didn't need it, but didn't see an elevator and rooms are all upstairs. The pub menu was great and the included breakfast had many options. My wife has some specific food allergies and the kitchen and wait staff went above and beyond to accommodate. There was a lot to do within walking distance, including the Bridgewater Canal Path, Manchester Art Gallery, and the Science and Industry Museum (it's worth the wait for the full demonstration of the cotton factory machines where they operate every machine from an incoming bale of raw cotton to the final woven cotton cloth). We would highly recommend the Oxnoble to anyone wanting the "pub-lodging" experience.
O. D.
Had a lovely time here. Dog friendly, great food and drinks and a great welcome from Ian!
Will definitely be coming back again.
C. W.
Lovely check in experience, rooms bigger than most and OK for the price. Check out was ruined by a staff member banging on her door minutes after the check out time lapsed asking us to leave.
J. W.
Great little pub & staff. Had a great night at the pub, & stayed the night in one of the comfy rooms upstairs. Top place perfect to stop over in
N. S.
Just a good bar y,know
A. W.
Food was good staff were good drinks were good overall good
D. S.
Sunday lunch ticked the big box. Lovely proper beef, fantastic roast potatoes and smashing gravy. Not sure about the sweet cabbage, but that did not detract from the rest. Quality beer and good ambiance, smashing staff.
A. N.
Great little pub good food
L. N.
Popped in for a drink and some food, Was very impressed, food was lovely. Also great staff and atmosphere. Would definitely return.
m. l.
Came here for something to eat with my husband, the food was perfect, the atmosphere was great and the staff were so nice and friendly. Will definitely be returning!
I. V.
Really good pub, very good interior with TV'S for sports and food available,
H. F.
Great service and atmosphere. Barman's a hunk
B. S.
Staff were very attentive not much choice of red wine a member of staff went into the cellar and brought up a bottle of Shiraz which I prefer
j. w.
The app we had to download wasn't great, and £2.25 for three dashes of coke was a bit pricey in my opinion. The staff were friendly and the service was good.
M. N. L. D. M.
Good selection of ales in this dog friendly pub.
Reasonably priced food with BT and Sky Sports.
Marked down as although 4 or 5 staff behind bar only one was helpful and serving, even though there were customers waiting. Two made eye contact then went to slice fruit for drinks or pretended to be busy!!!!
This happened more than once when I approached bar for drinks.
A. A.
I had a family room as i was here with my parents. The arrangement of two rooms with a double and single bed was very ideal for us. Rooms are very clean and cozy. Plenty of storage space. Bathroom was clean tidy and well built as well. Breakfast had good options. I had veggie breakfast and it was amazing. Everything for a healthy start to an important day.
D. V.
Ordered a steak pie and mac-n-cheese bites. Best gravy I've ever had. Amazing pie. Fantastic mushy peas. I'm unsure if I've died or this place is some kind of a mirage or dream.
C. M.
Fantastic pub. We went in on a busy Sunday lunchtime and the staff there were fantastic at welcoming our group of 3 adults and 2 toddlers. The roast was absolutely delicious too and the kids even got extra yorkies. Very highly recommended.
E. H.
Came in for a couple of drinks. Great atmosphere and the staff were friendly.
Both Sam & Mackenzie we’re great!
J. M.
Maybe slightly better than OK but, not quite worthy of 4 stars. My room, whilst clean, well appointed and spacious, felt like it was actually in the downstairs bar due to the noise levels! It also faced the road which was quite noisy. Just luck of the draw, I guess and, it would not deter me from staying again as, it was a great location for my purpose.
J. C.
Great spot, lively atmosphere. Staff super friendly and food excellent 👌
C. K.
Fairly nice pub with nice staff. However, they should have told us when we they asked whether we were ordering food (and drink) that they were sold out of basically everything due to a festival that had just happened. We ended up having food we didn't really want and beers we didn't really want.
Still, I think the food was quite good for what it was and the staff were polite and friendly.
T. O.
Been here a few times. Smallish beer garden but lovely traditional pub vibe with fresh decor. Manages to feel both new and old in the good sense of both words. Well placed in a great part of town overlooking the roman fort ruins. Friendly service. Food was above average and would be happy to eat here again.
D. D.
Great beers and staff
M. K.
Was in this bar brilliant service mackenzie made us feel comfortable and smiling all night ! Would recommend 100%
C. M.
Great pub in a great location. Excellent accommodations. Good prices all around.
N. S.
Pretty good lunch for family and kids. Nice fish and chips. Pizzas looked okay but the kids said they were a little greasy once they cooked down. Quick and friendly service.
D. B.
Like to hang out here ...
Especially to watch football.
😚
W. D.
Lovely pub, friendly staff and not that dear by city centre standards. The beer selection is sometimes great, sometimes less so but usually pretty decent. It's just a nice pub.
S. B.
Cosy little pub with good prices and friendly staff. Not that busy so casual and chilled vibe. Got a lot of covid measures in place so feel confident entering. Haven't tried the food but always looked good
J. B.
Went here after going to the Crystal Maze Experience for breakfast. Very well presented pub, open nice and early with a good breakfast selection.
Though I'm usually a greasy spoon kind of breakfast man, their full English was definitely decent. A little pricier than a greasy spoon, but enjoyable non the less.
L. F.
Drinks were liquid and cost money. Staff served me. Mackenzie was very friendly and attentive even though there was a language barrier.
C. E.
Excellent lunch. The best chicken wrap I have ever eaten and very reasonable too. I have eaten budget good all over Europe and London but this for the price was really nice. Staff were very friendly too.
S. L.
Good beer, good service, good atmosphere.....very good actually 👍😂
J. D.
I went to the ox and noble for sunday dinner and drinks with my partner. The waitress service was adequate but before we sat down we bought a drink from the bar and the bar staff were really friendly. The drinks were really nice I had a wine my partner had a pint and they were really nice. The food now this was amazing I've had many Sunday dinners but this place is in the high rated ones for me. All veg tasted fresh the home made yorkshire pudding was big and tasty. The meat I had the beef and it was awesome so tender. The only slight negative criticism I can give is the toilets could do with a freshen up but apart from that it was all really awesome.
A. F.
We went for drinks in he night so didn't get to sample the food or the rooms but the Oxnoble is an absolute institution, and with good reason. Lovely warm welcoming bar, with plenty of room and seats if needed. Nothing fancy or pretentious about the whole place, just a nice normal pub for a couple of pints with friends.
P. G.
Had an amazing meal here tonight. Turned up near enough half 7 (food stops then) and the assistance manager still seated us. Took a while to cook but it tasted like it had been done from scratch. Absolutely amazing food, cannot rate this place enough. Will be back soon, very soon.
E. H.
Great atmosphere and overall a really nice pub. Been here for lunch twice and both times have left very satisfied. Big portions of home comforts. Good beer selection as well.
P. K.
Great start to the night out 🍻😉👍
D. K.
Love this pub, great atmosphere, very friendly team and good beers! I will definitely be back
C. J.
The gin was nice but the staff weren't great. We had to wait about 10mins while both members of staff served one customer, without even an acknowledgement we were waiting. Perhaps another member of staff on or at least some training in recognising you have customers waiting would be useful.
J. K.
Popped into the ox noble on a Saturday night had a good atmosphere without being too crowded so we could get seats. The selection of ales was good and the service was friendly and quick. The toilets were clean and good and it was clean in general.
The selection of ciders was average but apart from that a lovely little pub to pop in of you are in the area.
E. G.
Lovely pub and friendly staff! I had Jenni take care of me and she explained the social distancing measures well. Overall a fantastic time!
J. M.
I have been here a couple of times and we use it as a place to take parents when they're in town.... but sadly... I've never had a 'WOW' meal here. Despite the many who sing it's praises as 'Best Sunday Roast'... I think it's only achieved this status because Manchester seriously lacks much better. Otherwise the staff are nice and location is easily accessible.
D. E.
Great selection of good beer, and lovely food. However, we ended up taking our own glasses to the bar, because our table was full of them. At this point there was a couple of staff on, and only one other customer.
A. D.
A lovely little bar...was waiting on a friend so decided on a quite drink in this lovely bar...staff and service was great...the ox does food and lots of choice on beers and spirits.
And if your lucky you may see the od start. Terry Christian from the tv show the Tube was also at the bar that day..
So an overall enjoyable bar and I didn't feel out of place on my own.
Was made welcome and enjoyed it. Will be back again for sure.
J. O.
A great gastro pub which has a fine plenty of commercial beers and ales on tap. Great service from the staff and a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The food menu is not to be missed with exceptional Sunday lunches!
It can get busy during peak times but you'll most times get somewhere to sit if needed.
E. J.
Food was ok - had a Sunday roast (Chicken) and was a little disappointed. The bar had almost run dry - many lagers unavailable. Quite possibly a decent place normally but we got it at a bad time? Staff behind the bar were great however.
P. M.
Great pub with friendly staff 👌 good local close to work 👍
M. W.
Good value for money. Ideal location for castlefield/ deansgate locks area. Breakfast was great, rooms basic but clean. A little noisy in rooms till 12pm from pub downstairs but not a disaster. This may affect young kids though. Overall recommended.
C. F.
Delicious food and polite staff
g. v.
Very cousy , fantastic food and Nice people working there .... thank you
I. D.
Cozy atmosphere! typical english pub, if you want just drink couple of beers or watch football match, it's good enough to do that. Many kinds of beer, tasty food. Recommend!
M. R.
Friendly atmosphere and quick table service via the app. Food was good quality pub grub and good portion sizes at a reasonable price with a vegan option as well
K. C.
Lovely pub with amazing staff, mackenzie on the bar was very friendly.
G. L.
Sunday lunch was incredible, worth going just for the Yorkshire pudding. My only gripe is the beer selection. Stella, Carling, and other flavourless generic 'beers' doesn't match such good food. High food quality with an awful set of beer lines. Improve the bar to match the kitchen.
H. D.
Lovely staff, lovely food. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
s. f.
Lovely pub but i think almost £6 for one bacon butty is very expensive. I wouldnt have minded as much if they had used real butter but no. They used cheap margerine in very thin bread.
S. D.
One of the best pubs in Manchester and well worth visiting any time of the year. The only thing that lets it down is the lack of a beer garden.
Another place that does fantastic food and also offers rooms for the night. Ideal spot if you want something close to centre if time.
I.
Located on Liverpool Road. Handy for the science museum. Decent establishment for a pint. Although not as character filled as some pubs in Manchester the service was fine - staff were friendly. Not quite as expensive as some alternatives in the area (£3.80 for MPA). Serves food but have never eaten there so can't pass comment.
J. W.
Eight loud but lovely ladies stayed here last night and it was fab!
The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff warm and welcoming!
We stayed for breakfast and that too was lovely!
Thanks to you all! Already booked for next year!
C. G.
Wine fitted the glass nicely, was more than I expected as I expected nothing, found a white feather kept it
D. V.
Ordered a steak pie and mac-n-cheese bites. Best gravy I've ever had. Amazing pie. Fantastic mushy peas. I'm unsure if I've died or this place is some kind of a mirage or dream.

They know how to poor a Guinness 😎

Yesssss man!

Stopped by for a pint on the way for a meal.
Got asked if I wanted a taste of the beer I was trying.
Top marks too for social distancing.

Good selection of ales in this dog friendly pub.
Reasonably priced food with BT and Sky Sports. …
S. D.
Nice place top manager
N. K.
Fantastic decor, great tasting food, portions do not leave you wanting more that's for sure. Reasonably priced as well as really friendly staff, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quiet drink or a nice meal!
A. P.
Watched the football here after visiting the museum and it was great. Also had a really nice pizza and macaroni cheese bites. Wine was good too. Will definitely come back.
R. S.
Lovely friendly pub, staff very friendly got two lovely cups of tea and chips after walking miles called into different pubs (one had no kettle and others didn't serve tea!)
L. G.
Lovely place, served by Mackenzie who was very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back.
E. T.
great pub

Stayed over 1 night for a gig at the arena. Busy pub, room was absolutely fine, very clean and roomy enough. The breakfast was second to none. Beautifil bacon and sauages. Definitely worth a stay
M.

Traiditional pub with a great atmosphere. I went here in a big group on a Saturday night, and the staff were very accomodating. I had the fish and chips and it was really good. The tartare sauce was kind of like a tartare coleslaw with whole capers in it, which I really liked as I love anything vinegary. The fish was huge, as were the giant chunky chips. It all tasted great!
J. C.
Always a warm welcome, tasty food and good prices for Central Manchester. Well set up to ensure social distancing guidelines are met.
E. C.
Friendly staff, really good food and nice room!
At night, however, VERY loud music from pub until very LATE!
Such loud noise ruined what was an otherwise perfect stay!
L. S.
Very nice place, good atmosphere
a. c.
OK for a quick snack

While the price was very good there was a strong smell of drains coming from the bathroom that was very off putting. There were large gaps in the window pane so with the radiator left off before we arrived the room was also freezing. Not a great start with the creaky floors and bed to follow. At £40 a night though I will be staying again, hopefully the smell will be sorted out by then.

If your looking for a superb Sunday Roast with one of the biggest Yorkshire puddings you have ever seen - head here. Reasonably priced food with huge portions.
Its a lovely place in the winter with a cosy log fire and darkened interior.
M. W.
Tidy boozer, great service and good atmosphere. Worth a visit
B. K.
Great pub well recommended for those occational freebies!!
C. C.
Had a reasonable glass of wine and atmosphere is nice and traditional pub vibe. I think the steak is not as good as it should be for a Michelin starred restaurant and it's not cheap but it's location is lovely.
A. C.
Nice, typically British-style pub with home-cooked tasty food. Off the beaten track but still bustling on a Suinday afternoon. Their Sunday roast is delicious.
R. C.
Nice pub just next the Museum of Science and Industry. Beer is good, the veggie burgers are delicious, staff is nice and the atmosphere is really relaxed. Worth a visit!
A. B.
We stopped here to have a drink in between places and it was a nice enough place. I was disappointed that having waited at the bar with my friends for quite a while, all of whom had been served, I was passed over in preference of someone who was clearly known to the staff.
r. h.
Lovely staff, quick service, large variety of drinks. Only tried the sharing plates but I'd certainly recommend them
K. W.
Best pub in the world
J. C.
Great pub with good range of drinos
C. S.
Absolutely brilliant! The food was delicious and the staff were very vigilant with their covid procedures - felt very safe
A. T.
This was the nicest Sunday dinner I've had out in a long time. Real gravy and a good helping of roast beef. Would definitely recommend
K. L.
Guinness wasn't the freshest. Sunday roast beef was a little too dry. One pint of Guinness and half pint of cider was £10....seemed a bit too much.
c. m.
Nice setting and clean pub but 3 staff on a Sunday and one lad serving 2 other staff didn't acknowledge our presence but walked past all waiting customers several times then turned the sound off on the tv even though people were watching the sports.
M. K.
Best wings in town
P. P.
Nice place, clean and well done out. Decent range and quality of beer. Didn't try the food
S. L.
👍
D. H.
Just called in for a quick drink, but didn't find it anything to write home about really. For a pub that is nothing special it is quite expensive for drinks so I don't think I will be rushing back.
S. D.

Traditional pub. Offers food. I was there on a Sunday evening. It was quiet. I thought the service was a bit slow but the beer was OK.
I. T.
Your average restaurant bar. It was very busy when I went in and it took ages get a drink. Didn't eat there at can't comment on the food but there were some reservations for Xmas meals.

The food, based on the limited availability, was good, and so were the drinks. Regrettably, they had ran out of deserts and Yorkshire puddings, which was vexing. Good atmosphere and service, would somewhat recommend.
