This is a great bar with a cool modern interior, great atmosphere with really good staff, will definitely be back there
P. g. B.
Brilliant bar with nice staff food is good as is the price recommended the pie
L. W.
Great bar with great staff. Always a good atmosphere here too
J. A.
Only popped in for the one,but looked a good lively place with outside seating alongside the canal.
R. W.
Brilliant place with a fantastic beer garden. Good food, friendly efficient service. Can't fault it.
K. K.
In winter fireplace often is on ( bliss) otherwise great choice of drinks and food. And on Sundays upstairs, lovely Tina gives Salsa lessons. I would highly recommend.
T. k.
Great staff very friendly, plenty outside space, and food very nice and great value. Definitely reccomend.
G. N.
Rain Bar played host to a wedding I attended, it turned out to be a great place for it. Lovely smallish "board room" upstairs for the ceremony and private use of the upstairs bar. Nice food too. J W Lees beer, so it may or may not be to your taste, personally I prefer a Robbies. Canalside location with plenty of space outside so good in sunny weather. McDonald's just down the road if you don't fancy the pub grub!
C. C.
Nice pub, usually always thriving with people especially in the summer months on nice days.
Good drinks selection and good prices.
E. G.
Lovely place. I spent an entire afternoon here withy friends drinking beers. The location has a real British atmosphere. You can drink and eat, inside and outside, so they have a lot of space and seats. We went there in a quite Thursday afternoon and it was a bit crowded. I think in the weekend it could be better to book a table.
A. L.
A nice bar with a large outdoor terrace area which is probably the main draw for this place especially when the weather is good. The bar is located just next to the canal so it's all very pleasant, nice and scenic. Customers can be seen lounging along the canal walkway too. Friendly and easy vibe, with a traditional-ish looking bar. Didn't try the food but stopped here for drinks.
T. H.
Great JW Lee's bar to call into if your in the area. Warm atmosphere with excellent bar staff. A good pub all year round & one to definitely visit in the summertime with the outside seating area when we get a bit of sun.
P. B.
Dog friendly.
Great bar with huge outdoor area overlooking the canal.
Good selection of drinks, could do with some more draught options. A good IPA would be nice to see.
N. B.
Really good food, excellent service & very friendly staff. Had a pre-show meal before Bridgewater Hall concert then returned after show for drinks outside by the canal under heaters. Highly recommended
C. B.
Delicious food and very helpful, friendly staff. I did actually give you five stars as we really enjoyed our time there. Don't know how four stars went missing!
A. W.
Lovely pub, right nr central station and Bridgewater Hall, nicely decorated, cosy and comfortable, had some food after watching Swan Lake round the corner, great pub classics and choices, really enjoyed it,staff were nice and friendly and in sure we will go again whilst in Manchester. Thank you.
V.
Nice clean pub, only popped in for a pint. Did browse the food menu which looked good so when we visit Manchester again will probably go there for a meal
G. H.
Just what you expect and want from a JW Lees pub. Good beer, good atmosphere and friendly staff.
Large outdoor seating area which is great for the summer months.
M. W.
Great atmosphere!
Loved the place, it was our first visit but will defiantly be going again, next time for food as it looked lovely.
B.
Fantastic pub, great atmosphere, great team, always a warm friendly welcome. Great food , and a great selection of fine conditioned beers and lagers. I cannot say enough about this pub, love going and always have a fantastic day.
w.
Food was good value for money, nice atmosphere.
M.
Went today to give the place the once over before we booked it for a wedding reception,
Sarah couldn't have been more helpful, the venue fits our needs perfectly and for an excellent price.
J. J.
It's alright, it's got a good selection of beer and other drinks and serves pub food. The location can be nice in summer as it's by the canal but it is usually quite busy
S. B.
Great to visit last visit was to signwrite the walls years ago. Nice to go back socially friendly and attentive staff great food.
A. H. M.
Improved menu but a bit stingy on ingredient. When you have a salad with avocados in the description 🥑 you expect to see them!
A. D.
Staff very welcoming nice atmosphere and lovely scenery think would be lovely to sit out on a warm evening
M. P.
Great outside drinking area, food tasty and a decent selection of beers. JW Lees Malt Crush cask ale excellent
R. F.
Nice location on the edge of the canal. Fair prices for drinks and friendly staff.
C. S.
Great food, great beer, great service. Location a bit out of the way but depends what you want...
C. L.
Love this bar, just the atmosphere alone makes a good night even better.
S. A.
Been here a few times when we've stayed over in Manchester. Food and atmosphere really good. Gets really busy in the summer months especially as they have a wonderful beer garden too. 👍🍺
S. M.
Forgot how nice this bar is, not tried the food, drinks average price. Could do with some air fresheners goin to the loos though.
C. T.
Pre concert drinks before the Bridgewater hall which is just round the corner, a great bar this with people eating, drinking, meeting, great outside area too. Friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. Aptly named as it's bucketing down outside.
R. B.
Great venue for a works leaving do. Super beer garden and the staff were super helpful
D. E.
We had our wedding reception at Rain Bar, and Alex and the team made it a perfect day. The food, the service, everything about it, was fantastic. We can’t thank the team enough, and would recommend Rain Bar to anybody looking for a venue, to have a celebration or event
Y. C.
Amazing place by the canal. Great back garden with external heating area.
E. H.
Turned up on a very sunny Saturday afternoon with no booking. The lady at the front greeting us was great. Sat us inside as no seats were available in the garden, but within 10 mins we got an outside table that came available. Very organised. Lovely pub with a wonderful beer garden on the canal. The table service was excellent. Staff constantly walking about, so waiting for drinks was literally few minutes only.
Will definitely be going back to try the food.
T. D.
Manager is top bloke!
Very friendly atmosphere considering the difficult working practices
Chucking down with rain and still having a great time
Doesn’t get much better
J. S.
Decent food. Good choice of lagers and ales. Nice staff. Big beer garden outside that gets the sun for a majority of the day. I recommend getting there as early as it fills up quite quickly.
O.
Nice bar with a great beer garden.
b. f.
Good bar. But needs more choices of 0% than Heineken!
M. F.
Welcoming city centre pub, good menu worth a visit
M. H.
Great place in the sun, good food and great beer 👍
G. C.
Lovely sat in front of the fire!!
P. W.
Always great food. Good service and friendly staff.
T. C.
Best beer garden in Manchester, but not best choices of drinks unless you like your ales
F. V.
I’m a regular but infrequent visitor here for a few warm-up pints and a meal before going to the Manchester Beer Festival nearby. The Lees beers are excellent, food is very good and the decor is traditional English pub - dark wood everywhere. As this is a mid-day visit it’s half full, so it might not be the typical experience for a Friday evening pint. Outdoor area looks great, but not terribly tempting in January. For some reason I didn’t go there this year, hopefully I can arrange something with my local friends.
L. G.
Fantastic bar, staff are friendly and the function rooms are great
M.
Great bar, good location and baby geese.
J. G.
Canine amicable.
Incredible bar with tremendous outside region neglecting the channel.
Great choice of beverages, could do with some more draft choices. A decent IPA would be ideal to see.
G. C.
Lovely put door sitting area and great choice of drinks.
R. D.
Another jewel amongst the best pubs in Manchester.
R. B.
Great atmosphere lovely attentive staff and fair prices
R. S.
Went for outdoor drinks and wasn't disappointed! We got seated pretty quickly with no reservation (there were 2 of us) and the drinks ordering was really easy and quick. Hardly any wait for our drinks at all and friendly service/good atmosphere as always.
s. m.
Great place to have a meal and partys staff couldnt do enough for you and the manager joined in the christmas party
K. M.
What a lovely welcome after lockdown, other bars in Manchester need to take note. The staff are very helpful and are a credit to the pub, its very well managed and friendly. We went to other bars who discriminated if you were just a couple or single but here it's first come first served, well done The Rain Bar.
J. G.
Spacious inside and a fabulous sunshine draped outside area. Good well priced beer in a traditional atmosphere.
R. M.
Pleasent sitting areas. Food ok but not v.interesting. is there as much choice of draught beer as there used to be?
N. H.
Good food 😋
Very handy for a meal prior to going to the Bridgewater Hall.
J. W. (.
Great atmosphere, and staff. Didnt sample the food but from what i saw around me looked great. Tbh i would prefer more of a selection of draught, but the guinness and jw lees craft lager were tasty
C. H.
Fun atmosphere and amazing steak & ale pie! I'd go here again.
D. C.
Great pub with large beer garden
I. W.
A favourite spot of my wife's and always on the itinerary when we welcome guests to Manchester. Sitting outside along the canal is a treat, especially when the Canada geese are friendly about sharing the space. The food is traditional pub fare and always satisfying.
D. “. G.
Great bar, clean, great atmosphere. Nice area. Close to everything
S. S.
Love this bar.... so many great memories for me....
W. G. (.
Great pub located by side of canal. Large beer garden you could spend the whole day in and watch the world and boats go by.
Good selection of Lees beers and guest beers and lagers.
Good menu serving good food. Staff very friendly and helpful..
Highly recommended.
M. K.
I hired the function room for a party and I have to say that the service, food and staff were brilliant. I had looked at other function rooms before booking Rain Bar and it was definitely the right choice. Sarah and Alex were great at arranging everything prior to the night, the bar staff on the night were excellent and the food (Hotpot and Chilli) was exceptional. All our friends loved it. Would not hesitate to have a party there again.
K. T.
Good food, always. Great location. Gets very busy at times, but love it, there.
P. S.
Sat outside in the sun. Friday from 4 to 630. All protocol was good. Staff super attentive, polite and efficient. Beer was good. A nice place
R. S.
Good pint. Nice cosy snug with a fire, et cetera
J. D.
Pub was extremely quiet...shame...no office workers in work presumably due to covid....so not lunching out. Took our contact details immediately. Mask to be worn until food or drink came. Veggie falafel burger was tasty and I'm a chip fan...10 out of 10 for chips. Staff very friendly. Lovely place...nice outside seating area too for those braving the chilly, sunny day
B. S.
Very quiet. Staff not bust at all for a Friday afternoon.
P. “. B.
I have eaten here twice in last 3 years. The bar is basic, as is the menu. The food is acceptable.
R. W.
Shame there is no app to use table service however there are plenty of staff around so doesn't take too long to order drinks. Outside is really nice with a canal view.
J. H.
Very well presented, great staff nice clean friendly.
Definitely recommend such a great experience.
M. C.
Great pub for indoor or outdoor sitting. Right on the canal a perfect location for sitting in the sun with a beer.
S. S.
Great venue for our corporate parties, 1st floor outdoor terrace great for people wanting to smoke. Good food and great staff.
L. G.
I like this pub. It's local to work but the beer is always kept well. The staff are pleasant. Had lunch here and rather boringly we all had cheese and onion Pie. It was seriously good. I make a good one but this was really good. Decent portion too. Will be heading back soon. Well worth a visit. Get very busy if the sun is out.
Z. S.
Nice big outdoor seating area next to the canal. Friendly wait staff & a good place to stop for drinks.
P. L.
I've passed Rain Bar countless times over the years but have only ventured inside recently. From the outside I imagined it would be quite a trendy, clubby place, but it's actually a nice, quite traditional pub.
The building used to be an umbrella factory apparently, which explains the name. As well as drinks there's a good menu, and if the weather is kind there's a nice outdoor seating area overlooking the canal.
A nice place for a drink, and I'm sure I'll return.
D. W.
Lovely bar, great food, beer and service. They even brought my pint out when I'd forgotten it at the bar! Great one to visit, especially for lunch, the Chicken BLT was fantastic and extremely filling! You also get to watch the Geese going about their business in the canal :)
m. W.
Nice city centre bar and restaurant pleasant surroundings; food menu very good ,; seats outside near canal.
T. C.
It has a great terrace beer garden on the canal for those after work summer pints. The lees pubs serve a great choice of ales and are locally based which makes it for me. The upstairs function rooms are also available for hire and make for good networking space.
D. A.
Ra!n bar has always been a little favourite of mine and despite only a 4 rating I would happily continue to go there.
It has a good spot just by the canal and so in the summer it's great for beer garden drinking. The food is decent and the service is good. Only down side is that it's a bit pricy for drinks. Up there in the £5 pint territory which is a bit much compared to local areas and for the drinks they service. Still worth a trip though.
T. C. W.
Enjoyed this place very much. Dltheyve down a very good job to make the Palace look good and welcoming. The food took a bit longer than I'd expect for what we ordered. Nice staff and the menu looked great. We'll definitely return next time we attend the theatre.
P.
Went here for lunch and probably had the best cheese and onion pie I've ever had. Good drinks selection and outdoor seating space. Perfect for a sunny day! Not been during an evening so can't comment but would recommend for lunch or post work drinks.
L. S.
Lovely spot right by the canal. The beer garden is a gem in the city centre. As you'd think, it gets very busy on a sunny day! Inside is as youd expect, the real distinguishing feature of this place is the outside space. Food is good if a little overpriced and I love the Manchester lager they sell here!
D. S.
Great fish and chips nice atmosphere
L. C.
Nice little pub, plenty of staff so you don't wait long
L. H.
Fantastic little pub. The food was excellent, I had the 7oz Signature beef burger with onion rings. Perfectly cooked and tastes amazing. The terrace at the back has a great view, I imagine this is beautiful in the summer. Highly recommended.
p. 8.
Good selection of beers, good nights to be had
T. B.
Great beer, locally brewed and on draught. The actual pint glasses for these are also something to experience. The food is always made well and of a higher standard than your average pub food. Outside seating near the canal is nice on a good day
J. H.
I like the bar but we hired the board room upstairs and were quite disappointed with the general technology setup - the Wi-Fi was useless meaning we couldn't stream two simple 4 minute videos as part of a presentation and the serial connector didn't connect to the TV properly so we couldn't hook up the laptop. We eventually managed with a very blurry projector for the presentation but it isn't ideal at all. So as far as the pub is concerned it is great, if you're renting a meeting room I wouldn't recommend unless you don't have a need to present on a TV/projector.
M. W.
Pleasant bar close to city centre good beers and selection of meals , at side of canal and locks .pleasant surroundings.
M. H.
Great bar, visit here everytime I come to Manchester, would've got a higher score had my MPA had a bit more life in it and not been so expensive.
A. C.
Lovely staff, great atmosphere
F. B.
This pub is conviniently located next to the Jury's Inn hotel. Good food but in my opinion even better beer, including an awesome local stout. It might be hard to get a good table during peak hours (i.e. when people get off from work) but the bar is not that busy so hang around until a table becomes available and you'll be all set.
Overall the pub enjoys a nice semi-modern atmosphere all around.
J. S.
This is pretty much Lees flagship pub. Usual Lees beers. Nice pub inside but it's the outside drinking area overlooking the canal that makes this pub special. It's a sun trap so on a sunny day it's a great place for a drink. Very popular. Not tried the food but have been told it is good.
C. D.
Went for a cheeky Valentine lunch with the wife. First time eating there and would recommend it to anyone. We had garlic mushroom starter which was actually the best we have had. Sadly it meant I couldnt finish the amazing cheeseburger I had chosen for my main. The staff couldnt do enough for us and we thank you.
K. B.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Good food and reasonably priced. Visited before a concert at The Bridgewater Hall, and when we walked in they had a playlist of the artist we were going to see playing - nice touch!
R. M. (.
First time to this bar, went with my daughter before concert at palace theatre, so glad we booked a table beforehand, very busy on a friday teatime, but the food was gorgeous and plenty of it! What a lovely cosy place, with attentive, polite staff, even though they were run off their feet! Will definitely go back , thankyou Rain bar x
2.
Wide variation of drinks , i like the fact they have local gins and beers from Manchester , a bit of patriotism can't be knocked, it promotes local business which is nice .Decor is charming, pubby but Eatery. nice combination , friendly staff. The outside seating area by the canal is a big draw especially when the sun shines and the clientel seemed mixed and varied. The waters edge always adds to the atmosphere so you are inclined to stay a little longer.Prices are within reach but the fear of them spiralling out of control with the growing self arrogance that comes with a successful venue is always looming. TIP: contain the greed for profit and the boom will continue.Food was simple but good . I like this place ,and i will be back.
H. W.
Amazing bar amazing people and amazing vibes
W. C.
Good location near Bridgewater Hall, great staff, good range of beers, (J W Lees) and has traditional pub feel. Nice outdoor deck for good weather, or the smoker, prices for beers, about average for city centre, nice place for those of a mature view of pub life. Just a nice boozer!
J. L. п.
Very nice place to relax and enjoy with friends. You can stay inside and outside.
S. 2.
Has an excellent location right on top of the Bridgewater canal in the city centre. Plenty of outdoor space and seating when the sun is out. Inside it's comfortable and there's a decent range of beers and ales. Decent food menu too.
D. R.
I have been here quite a few times. Usually always as a work/large group event. Recently I was here for a private event Christmas quiz which I also attended last year. The upstairs room is great for events like this. We had a hot buffet which offered different options. I have only ever been in big groups for which it is a great venue.
B. W.
been coming here for years and it’s getting better, the pints of MPA ive had recently have been literally out of this world! Keep it up!!cracking bar in a cracking location with cracking Beer.....bloody fantastic
K. P.
Great bar all year round. The best place to sit and drink cider by the canal in the summer, warm, cosy and snug by the fire in the winter. Staff are lovely and very accommodating and there's a decent selection of beers on draught. Food is good, perhaps a bit pricey but certainly a nice lunchtime treat.
S. C.
Always welcoming great wine a lovely outside seating area. Good food too
J. S.
Food was great! Beer below average.
J. E.
Top pub in Manchester, great on a sunny day as large beer garden with a scenic view of the Manchester canal. The private function room is awesome as well. Decent food and j.w Lee's beer
I. A.
Great place with lovely beer garden on the canal. Food can be a bit inconsistent. Had a fab juicy burger a few months back but recently the burger was bone dry (obviously cooked from frozen)
D. L.
Great pub and venue for our work night out. The weather was perfect for the outside space, but the inside space was good enough to fill our capacity. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was good.
D. S.
Nice veer garden, quick drinks and food, only thing that bothered me was how rude staff were to enforce 6 at a table, we explained we were in a bubble and some people were saying goodbye to leave but staff were very rude about it
R. G.
Happy to the bar staff to server the drinks to my deaf friends in Nice way
B. T. (.
The free space near canal is great - not that it's scenic, but it's atmospheric, meaning the vibe. Haven't been inside the building much except to get a beer, but looks like there's plenty of space inside too. Also, good beers.
L. B.
Great food fab atmosphere
C. G.
Fantastic pub right behind Manchester's Bridgewater Hall. Also, not too far from the city centre. Ideal for a pre-concert meet up. The food is AMAZING, as I can testify. Not cheap by any means, but you get what you pay for. The beer is also very good. Wouldn't hesitate to go again next time I go to Manchester.
T. F.
Rain Bar has a great beer garden that backs out onto the canal. In summer this area gets crammed with drinkers soaking up the sunshine until approx 4pm when it ducks down behind the buildings that tower around it. In winter they utilise this outdoor space with patio heaters so it's decent for outdoor drinking then also.
The beer selection and the food in here are the only things that let the place down, both are average. That said, it's a lovely building in town and a very decent bar.
C. W.
I love this bar but the beers are quite basic / limited. It's right on the canal and you can get the best sun if it makes an appearance! There is a big beer garden.
L. P.
Lovely place situated just on the locks. Whether Rain or Shine, the outside patio serves it's purpose and is very good for any size groups of custom. Pricing was average, but should definitely be aimed to be part of any pub-crawl when in the vicinity.
N. N.
This bar has a great outdoor seating space next to the canal, so in summer it's perfect.
The staff are friendly and the drink selection is good, I cant say I would go there specially if the weather wasn't good, but if your looking for a place in the city with a great beer garden its perfect!
T.
Only had one beer so can't really give 5/5. Good selection on beers and the menu looked nice. Good views from the outside terrace and inside was clean and well organized.
Would have stayed longer if I had the time.
L. H.
Had a slight problem re our table was booked for the wrong time but the lovely staff sorted us out.
Planning on going back soon .
L.
Great place, nice spot where you can drink a beer at the edge of the canal.
S. R.
Nice bar with a large outside terrace next to the canal. There's a good selection of beers and wine and a nice simple menu. The beef burger was really lovely, cooked perfectly and accompanied with chips and coleslaw. The presentation was interesting; served on a plank with a knife stabbed into the top of the burger. This was a burger that demanded attention!
The bar was busy earlier on in the evening, but it was possible to get a table and food didn't take long at all to get served. Later on as people moved on the bar became quieter and cosier. Recommended.
T. M.
Lovely food and atmosphere
k. g.
Can't remember my entire stay, lots of wood from what I recall. Difficult to navigate the stairs when half cut
S. K.
Nice pub, especially when the weather is good, great exterior
g. a.
Great atmosphere and great juke box
B. B.
Went to party there upstairs. We all enjoyed our selves. Alitalia of stairs for toilet. Room just right. Drinks decent price. Would he again.
T. Q.
Was looking for a restaurant to eat with the family before watching a concert at the Bridgewater hall. Having looked at the pictures and menu online we decided to eat here, it may be ok for lads having a drink and a bit of food on a night out but not for a family.
The food was good, but let down by the fact we had to lean over to each others ears and shout over the music to be heard. The greasy tables also weren't appealling.
I personally prefer a quiet atmosphere where I can enjoy my families company.
This was not it.
But that's just my preference.
J. W.
Yesterday the team at the Rain Bar looked after my daughter's 18th Birthday....it was brilliant.....the venue, the food and the service was fabulous.
We had the party in the boardroom which we decorated prior to the birthday girl arriving. There was a dedicated member of the Rain Bar team stood in the room who looked after everyones food and drink requests as there was no bar in the boardroom....this worked perfect as everyone could concentrate on having fun instead of queuing at the bar. All guests ordered from the main menu which as it was Sunday most chose the roast...it was delicious.
The party lasted around 3 hours which was enjoyed by all.
Many thanks Rain Bar you really made my daughters 18th, I can't thank you enough.
G. A.
Super helpful staff, wonderful food and lively ambience. Great spot for a drink.
S. L.
Lovely pub, friendly staff, good food and very clean
M. S.
Great bar, and you can sit by the canal at the back. Perfect on a sunny day. Plenty of ducks and geese about, so the garden is a nice place to sit with the kids
K. A.
Just popped in before going to the Theatre. Good atmosphere. Wanted to order food but couldn't find out if still serving. All signage useless. Shame as menu looked decent. Might give it another try next time in the area.
j. k.
A good bar for calling I if you're going to the Bridgewater Hall which is just over the road. It's clean, tidy and the staff are friendly. It's got a brilliant outside space over looking the canal.
S. S.
Friendly staff, good choice of ales and plenty of sitting places in and outdoors.
A. S.
Good place easy to get to food was nice felt drinks expensive
S.
Best cover procedures I have seen. Will be back! Very safe, friendly staff and quick service.
J. E.
At it's best when the fire is roaring in the winter, or outside by the canal in the summer when the sun is blazing. Four or so beer choices on tap, Manchester Pale Ale being a staple. It's a juke box for the music, so quality experience can vary greatly depending who you're in with!
C. B.
Like this place. Especially in summer as there is a lot of room next to the water to have a quiet drink. Can get very busy at weekends tho. Not the biggest selection of beer, standard stuff really. Staff friendly enough and fellow drinkers are a civilised and unsnobby bunch.
C. H.
I have been many times, can be a little expensive for drinks, but it has a fabulous beer garden on the canal
Food wise I have only had hallomi fries from here and they are lovely. Always a good atmosphere
J. P.
With it's quirky name playing on the emotions of all who dwell within Manchester, Rain Bar is a perfect little bar, pretty much bang in the city centre. I'm a fan of their multi-tiered beer garden, which slopes down to the passing canal - for me it's one of the best places to sit and follow the sun in the city centre. It's not the most pleasing view of Manchester you'll find but when you've had a few you can try and walk over the canal lock; I'm still yet to see anyone fall in though.. Not quite the cheapest place around either; I can only presume that the J.W.Lees ergonomic hand pint glasses add to the cost of a pint.
A. C.
Good honest pub with a decent outside space next to the canal.
P. R.
Superb bar which has been there for a long time. The outdoor space overlooking the canal is even better now and lots of it. Indoors have always been good. Excellent and friendly service always
A. W.
I went there for the first time last week and I was very impressed. Nice and clean place with indoor and big outdoor sitting area. Lovely food and great, friendly staff
J. F.
Excellent service food good
O. E.
Really nice atmosphere with a very large outdoor area backing plate not the canal. Large but never seems too crowded. Nice place for a quiet couple of drinks

Nice selection of beer and fireplace in the nook. Large outdoor area and nice food. Function room available for hire upstairs. Very popular with the post work crowd.

Went for a team meal with work. Tasty, well presented food in a great location. I ordered the Grazing Board which included 3 chicken wings, 3 battered cod goujons and a portion of messy chips. The goujons were a disappointment and I wouldn't recommend anything with beer batter as it is tasteless and quite tough to get through. I would recommend the messy chips as the beef brisket and cheese are perfectly cooked and mixed to create a molten treat. The chicken wings are nice but nothing special. I would go again for the messy chips alone.
J. P.
Great bar, wonderful atmosphere and a nice beer garden. We used the function room as well and didn't have any issues very nice and the staff were very accommodating.
H. A.
Excellent pub with great outside views of the canal. Haven't tried the food yet, but the menu looked very tempting with a wide selection of pub grub.
S. B.
Husband had the big fish 😊 , really enjoyed it.
I had the Scampi in a basket, was really nice.
Love calling to the Rain bar and James the barman was excellent with the service. 🖒
K. S.
Very busy after 7 pm. Small choice of beer but they do have guiness:) nice outside area. Didn't have the food so can't say but looked good
S. M.
I live right opposite Rain Bar so it's typically a last or first stop on a weekend night out for us. It has a beer garden second to none. So on the rare occasion that the hot yellow ball in the sky makes an appearance in Manchester, it's packed outside and there's a brilliant atmosphere.
I'm a lager drinker myself so probably don't have much value to add in terms of a beer review. It is a JW Lees bar though, so the ales are JW Lees ales (some of my friends love that, others loathe it).
There's a decent pub grub menu. The food is reasonably priced and it's alright. Not the best pub grub in Manchester, to be honest. But it's not bad.
Well worth a stop, particularly in the sun!
J. G.
It's a nice place to meet after work and has plenty of room outside for the smokers. They have a room up stairs which does good food. I was there for a wedding and it has a good feel.
D.
It was kinda late into the night when "Rain" came up and I can tell, I will come back for sure.
G. W.
If you get into a discussion with a manta ray and the subject turn to boxing... Always say your favourite fighter was Sugar Ray Robinson... NOT SUGAR RAY LEONARD as you'd expect. They get angry really quickly and will end up chugging your beer. The beer garden will offer respite from the ray, but only when he isn't outside 'avin a tab.
S. G.
Nice place to sit outside and have a beer overlooking the canal. Well managed for the COVID conscious.
T. J.
Friendly staff, excellent customer service. Draymans tray starter beaut, scampi, chicken in a basket and steak sandwhich all really good. Excellent surroundings, felt very comfortable
A. S.
Rainbar has a chain feel to it with not much character beyond being a general pub attracting office workers and the like. The highlight, however, is the beer garden which gets loads of sun in the summer and has plenty room and is in a great location next to the canal.
R. W.
not bad meals for the price
C. M.
Great lunch time menu. Washed down with a lovely cool pint of Guiness. It's all good, and staff and Sarah the manager were very obliging .
M. C.
This place is a bit of a hidden gem if you've never been before. Discovered it on a sunny day whilst trying to find somewhere with an outdoor area. Great staff, loads of space inside and all with the added benefit of being able to take your drink and sit down at the edge of the canal.
M. S.
Great bar, great service and decent food. Well positioned too to get to Deansgate,Oxford Road and Castlefield.Good place to start if your out for the weekend. Good place to enjoy the sunshine next to the canal.
A. B.
Large traditional pub with good beers & nice food menu. Housed in interesting, historic building with a lot of outside space overlooking the canal.
D. W.
Very nice in here... friendly atmosphere...
J. S.
Good bar in summer thanks to the beer garden overlooking the canals. it's a JW Lee's pub, so they're a nice cheap option (MPA & Original Lager are both pretty good). Also got a pretty nice food menu.
R. B.
Nice bar. Visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon so plenty of tables available, some in front of open fireplace. In the summer there are also tables outside on the canal side.
c. r.
Good drinks at a low cost. Lots of seating both indoors and out. Good view of the canal if sat outside. Average wait times for a bar.
M. B.
Brilliantly situated overlooking the canal really great situation. Friendly staff & heaters outside keep you warm. Just loved the rain bar.
E. R.
Drinks are reasonably priced for a manchester pub, out at the back they have loads of seating. The canal runs right by and when sunny its gorgeous to sit by the canal and have a drink
C. C.
Friendly staff. Great to find a traditional pub that serves beer and not relying on food. Serves Lees own stout that is far surperior to Guniness. Well worth the visit.
J. R.
Food great. A bit of a whiff coming off canal but it is bearable. Would go back. The smoked haddock with mash and poached egg was amazing
C. P.
Used the upstairs bar for a private function. Great space, friendly staff and good catering. Only let down slightly by the fact that they have better beer on tap downstairs.
P. S.
Decent pint at reasonable price
R. M.
Very pleasantly surprised with the food. Been in before for a casual drink - very nice interior decor, beer garden and bar. Often has a log fire
L. S.
Nice big pub good menu. Somewhat lacking in atmosphere but ok if u want somewhere quiet.
J. M.
Good bar
E. B.
Great food and and relaxed atmosphere
A. C.
A pub that has seating space at the rear and backs onto the canal. Good place to head with colleagues after work; though others have similar ideas! A regular bog standard chain-style pub.
T. R.
An excellent bar with well kept Lees beer.
S. H.
Went to a birthday party here, had a great night , we had a selection of mini burgers , hot dogs and Thai prawns , slightly out of the busy spots, but not to bad
I. B.
Just an average bar. Had drinks there recently and thats about all there is to report. Price of a pint of bitter is a bit expensive, staff were pleasant enough, but there was just something lacking to make me enthusiastic about going back.
A. H.
Why bother traipsing all the way over to Castlefield for open air canalside food and drink? This city centre boozer has good beers, wines and food, and a huge terrace with open air seating beside the Rochdale Canal.
B.
Nice pub, lovely location... A bit overpriced wine.
M. C.
Great place - good food, fantastic beer and a nice atmosphere -whats not to like ! Look forward to seeing you soon - keep up the good work folks x
R. T.
Nice place. Maybe sometimes are too people and make difficult speak with your group, but have a different places and outdoor seats. Price is the normal and have a good environment.

S. T.
Went to a private function the food was amazing and staff excellent
P. S.
Awesome place to go with friends to catch up. Decent beer, good environment and easy to chat across the table on a Sat night.
B. L.
Food ok. Toilets downstairs, must be difficult to navigate when enibriated!
C. M.
Good bar, good choice of beer and staff are actually decent and understaff how to work along a crowded bar fairly and remembering who has been waiting the longest.
D. E.
Great location - one of the only places in Manchester city centre that has a large outdoor seating area. It gets busy in the warmer months so get down here early!
D. L.
Early evening lively and quiet, ideal for a client meeting. Service was pleasant and quick, I've now found a great place for future meetings.
J. W.
Friendly, helpful bar staff, food was nice. Only downside is draught from the front door when your day in the snug with the fire.
R. P.
On first looks of where this bar is it is in an expensive area but the prices are pretty reasonable. Great ales and have a nice seasonal ale too. Would recommend
S. M.
Lovely décor with a chilled out, not too hipster, feel.
Good quality drink and the menu looked inviting and tasty.
B. N.

For many years this pub has been good at serving a range of decent beers and providing a good amount of seating indoor and outdoor in a central location.

P. E.
Very nice bar. Very popular with great outside space by the Canal. Good place to enjoy a relaxing drink after work
F. B.
This pub is conviniently located next to the Jury's Inn hotel. Good food but in my opinion even better beer, including an awesome local stout. It might be hard to get a good table during peak hours (i.e. when people get off from work) but …
C. H.
Good fire place, nice rang elf beer, outdoor heating looking out over the canal. It's a bit trendy but never too busy.
O. B.
Nice patio area overlooking the canal. Good for a few drinks. Not tried the food.
