We went in for a weekend brunch. The host was very nice and allowed us to eat in even though we had not booked a table in advance . The food was lovely. Prices are good too. All was good apart from the hot chocolate as it was a little bit cold. It is a good place overall, we highly recommend it.

It’s a great venue, with a great vibe and energy, huge restaurant, although quite a small bar. The location to the rest of the spinning fields makes This a perfect location. An interesting observation though and why I only give it four stars, is that when I’m inside I noticed how many nicely dressed people are turned away. But how many guy groups are given access simply because they are pals with the bouncers. (Fist bumps/bro bugs etc.). Or girls as they give the bouncers hugs lol. This brand is too big for the local village door mentality.

Such a fantastic place. The staff are always friendly and professional. The service and theatre of the drinks is always impeccable. There is always too much choice on the drinks menu but gives you a good excuse to keep coming back again and again. The food here is delicious with a good menu selection.

Some really unusual and cool cocktails we had a light bulb moment which was smoke coming off it at first in a light bulb shapes glass. The food was really good too! Would recommend!

We had a booking for eight people on a Friday evening to celebrate a birthday and a small wedding. Got there, settled in and were generally well looked after - at the bar with the cocktail waiter and with our waiters/waitress once seated. Sadly everything after that point kind of went down hill a little. Firstly, a waiter - completely accidentally - knocked over a full drink over one of our guests, very apologetic and the drink was replaced very quickly. Food orders were taken and the starters came out and were beautiful, everyone enjoyed them. From here on in however, the wait for our mains seemed to go on forever. I appreciate it was a Friday and they were busy but you shouldn't be waiting quite this long for food. Once we'd gone back to the bar to query where our food was, one of the waitresses came over to apologise about the wait and said it would be with us in ten minutes. Almost twenty minutes later, it turned up, half the meals were lovely and looked fresh, the other half of the meals were dry, chewy and generally quite poor. Sadly we'd been waiting so long for our food at this point that we just wolfed it down rather than send it back and wait again. It almost felt as though half of our order had been made, left under a heat lamp and then forgotten about and the other half had been forgotten about completely until we enquired as to where it was and it finally got made. We were bought a round of drinks by way of an apology but - and no fault of the venue here - sadly only one of our party liked the aniseed cocktail we were bought. So, happy days for her at least. Really wanted to enjoy the evening - and we did - but came away from here a little disappointed.

Lovely place. Wouldn't recommend having all the fancy drinks in one go as they can be expensive, but still plenty of 'normal' options. Having one or two of the fancy drinks can easily class up a night of drinking so should definitely experience it at some point

Nice venue, they seem to pride themselves on being a bit different, which is a cool USP. Colourful food and fun cocktails, I'd reccomend. I just wish they had more vegan options but hopefully this will change with an increased demand. I also went to the Salford Quays venue three weeks ago and that was equally as nice.

First time being here was Sunday afternoon after being recommended the cocktail menu. I must admit I was expecting so where bigger. The bar area looked amazing, from floor to ceiling drinks display. However the seating is very poor and we had to stand at the bar wearing our coats. We would of stayed there alot longer and tried even more of the interesting cocktails they serve if we had a seat. Most of the venue was for dining which was probably more than 2/3 vacant. You couldn't sit in the dining area unless you was eating there, which we saw a few people walk in and walk out. There was alot of outside seating, though with the weather being miserable this was wasted space. Maybe if they had a secured shelter outside and heaters, we would of sat outside 🤷🏻‍♀️

The place itself is really nice. Well decorated. The bar looks like a science lab. I had a smoked old fashioned (their own version of it). Beautifully presented, but so sweet that I didn't enjoy it that much. I will try this place again as they have a good range of food, but I may order a more traditional cocktail as these cocktail variations are not for my taste.

Had such high hopes for my birthday bottomless brunch as when we had been before for dinner/drinks, the food had been great. The food we had for the brunch was dissatisfying. The 'smashed avo on toasted ciabatta' wasn't that- it was like avocado spread from sainos on dry bread NOT toast. And the butternut squash was rock hard and uncooked. Really disappointed as we paid £25 each and those who got this dish didn't get to eat any of the food. Given 3 stars as the drinks were excellent as per usual, and the staff had been really thoughtful in bringing out a birthday drink with a candle in which was so sweet. Just such a shame the food I had was inedible.

I think his name was josh or daryl his own fault because he was mixing it! Omg absolutely perfect, I said to him that I likes prosecco and blue and he mixed me the prefect cocktail. Mixed it me in a playful glass and when I said we needed some mint and I've in we mixed a new cocktail to suit and wow. Just fantastic, fantastic atmosphere enjoyed every second 😀 x

Flipping incredible! It's a was really lovely experience. We went on the 24th of May. We had the chorizo and cheese dough balls which were just the tastiest little things, and the calamari which was cooked to perfection, just perfectly soft and buttery; as a shared starter. Then for mains my partner had the active charcoal battered fish and chips, which looks like it's been burnt to get and back but tastes like fish and chips with a slight more sophisticated palette, you don't get that slightly too greasy taste off the fish. And I had the smokey barbeque pork, which was really tasty, it came with the most delicious pork crackling on the side and a really really tasty coleslaw, it had like chia seeds or something, it was one of those interesting and nice flavours that you can never quite put your finger on. It wasn't very smokey though and that's really what I was after when I ordered it so I did feel the tiniest bit let down there, it was still really tasty and I scoffed it right down. Then for dessert we shared the brownie which was just flirting with the idea of being gooey, it was served with a bit of salted caramel sauce and a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. I capped off the evening with some chartreuse and a negroni, the negroni was nicely prepared. My partner had the frübe cocktail which is not my cup of tea but it's still so tasty I couldn't help but appreciate it. Now all of that was excellent and holds its own as a wonderful night but it wouldn't have been half the experience without the incredible staff, I mean I haven't got the faintest idea about how you would even go about enjoying such a roster of lovely, warm, and friendly human beings. Each person we interacted with was just so wonderful. The kind of people you just want to scoop up into your circle of best friends. All in all a lovely evening, thank you so much to everyone there.

First time visit on Thursday 23rd September and really enjoyed it. Went with a friend to meet another for a business meeting. We had booked and gone to another bar near by but that was not nice so quickly relocated to the Alchemist. Had drinks and chicken in a basket and menu 'extras' as lite-bites. Clean, good service and reasonable prices and most importantly, the drinks and food were delicious. The foaming drinks were a first for us and really fun Will definitely be back in.

Great cocktail bar with a quirky theme. The drinks are well made and there is a wide selection of classic cocktails and house favorites. The chemistry science theme of the bar makes it stand out and there is a great atmosphere. Many of the drinks are searved in flasks with flavoured smoke added, the smoke adds an extra little something to the flavor of the drink as well as providing a great photo opportunity.

We got the smokey old fashioned and Smokey 2 . They were perfect. The Smokey 2 tasted just like fall, with a spiced apple and bonfire flavor. My only criticism is the price. I've had better old fashioneds for less.

One off the best meals I've ever tasted. Had duck for starter with soy sauce good size portion and would highly recommend. For main had jerk chicken which was amazing, great taste and the chicken fell off the bone. Drinks where also a reasonable price. In total came to £80 pound for 2 meals 2 starters and 2 desserts and 4 drinks. Couldn't recommend more.

Went for corporate lunch for 10 people on Friday 19th Nov.Entered at 12.30 and sat down, in my experience you ask for a drinks order whilst your chosing your food.25 mins later,our order for food and drinks were taken at the same time.Food was great however the drinks service was really really poor.We were asked for a second round of drinks when everyone had finished their food 90 mins later.We have just been in lockdown for 18 months you would have thought they would have been all over us on a corporate meal with a limitless credit card.Not good.Update Miles got in touch and offered a meal on the house really nice gesture review updated.

Loving the new cocktail menu! Great for day drinks, a bit slower to get served for evening drink as the bar staff put so much effort into the drinks, they're very skilled and complicated to make! So patience is needed in the evening but it's worth it for the experience of getting a cocktail in a steamy chemistry beaker!

It was such a shame today, as the staff were really lovely and the food and drinks were nice too, but for a Sunday afternoon the music was so loud we couldn't really have a normal conversation. I would expect this on a Saturday night, but for Sunday lunch time it was way too much. We had to leave and have dessert and coffee somewhere our nerves were not jangling! I think when you book they should let you know if its likely to be loud music playing. The last time I had lunch there it was just a very chilled atmosphere! I definitely wouldn't go again on a Sunday, it kind of spoiled our celebration because we couldn't hear oursleves think!

Fancy cocktails in test tubes and beakers. They use dry ice (frozen carbon dioxide) in some of them which for me is s HSE issue as the ice can do you some serious damage if swallowed as it is sublimating (solid to gas) in your glass and will burn if swallowed. Packed out and very popular so hard to get a seat at the weekend but youngsters will love it.

Visited a year ago and I had a bad experience but not every bad experience has to be the only visit to the place. I am happy to say that I had a better experience this time! The cocktails are fantastic! The music and the atmosphere was 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It is important to play some music, it does change everything when I visit a bar for some drinks and it also change my opinion about the place :) Keep the music on! I recommend 🎶🎶🎶

Love this place. Even with the current restrictions and limited numbers of people there was still a great atmosphere. The bar staff came over to your table to finish off the cocktails which was a nice touch and our waiter was really attentive without being in your face. All the food was amazing, especially the tempura prawn lollipops and the pork bonbons. You could see the staff constantly cleaning surfaces and it felt very safe and well organised, highly recommended and they're in the eat out scheme so even better if you can go Mon to Wed.

I love this place. The staff are amazing. So polite and engaging without being over the top. Even with the affect of Covid they are cooler than ever. The staff, ambience, menu (ok, let's forget the seed oil mayo tho' 😳) is really great 🤩. Chicken wings are top notch. It's a pleasant place, of course, apart from when the surrounding village folk attack Manchester city and deansgate in mobs dressed as clowns on Friday and Saturday nights.

Great selection of cocktails served here with the alchemist theme running true throughout. Have only eaten here once as we tend to visit more for drinks. The food was great and very well presented. All of the staff here are professional and conscientious. The prices are typical of a Manchester venue but when you pick one of the special cocktails from the menu it is completely justified. Ample space and seating for people attending for just drinks, I'd recommend booking on evenings and weekends if you want to attend for food.

We were initially seated at a table with another couple, which wasnt at all what i expected. And it was fully booked, it was hard to see an empty table. No windows were open and no staff were wearing masks. So what I'm saying is that if you are cautious about social distancing and ventilation, maybe dont go for now.

Came here for an evening cocktail to start our night off, and then ended up staying the entire night instead. Cocktails are amazing, with brilliant theatre in the making and delicious when drunk, we were so impressed we didn't want to leave. Decent prices for the experience, roughly £8-9 per cocktail except for a few specials that are more expensive. We ended up getting a cocktail we weren't very keen on, and Charlie at the bar exchanged it for something else with no fuss and even an apology that we didn't enjoy it! What a credit to the company, fantastic service and really gave us a memorable and lasting experience at the end of our night.

I was so lucky to have won a competition by The Alchemist to win a meal and tickets to Kylie. I had never been here before but I will definitely go back. From start to finish the staff were friendly and attentive the food was amazing! Our waiter Conor was so helpful and polite and spared a mo to have a chat and a laugh without being overbearing. There is such a good vibe and great atmosphere and the restaurant and Bar area are subtly screened but with interactions between the two creating a great hub for all. Went for a meal as the venue was recommended by a friend. Choice of food was extensive and prices were not too expensive. However, cocktail selection and drinks menu was spectacular! We ordered some starters and drinks, also mains. The food experience was unfortunately only 3* therefore I can only rate the overall experience at 4*! Chef went heavy handed with salt, all of us felt the same and when we tasted each others meals, we could feel the excessive use of salt, which resulted in poor taste of the main courses. If you're looking for a cocktail venue, you got the perfect spot, if you're a whiskey or spirits person, you have the perfect spot once more! However, for us, we found the food to be disappointing!

I absolutely love this place! Since moving to Manchester a few years ago, its easily one of the nicest bars I have been to and I continue to visit regularly. The drinks are innovative and delicious; whatever you decide on from their extensive menu, you're pretty much guaranteed to love it, I've never had a bad drink there. There is a downside though, if you go on the weekends, it gets so busy that it's uncomfortable. Its quite a small space and there have been times that I've gone in and left 10mins later because I'm still way back in the bar queue, you literally have to wait a long time for a drink, I'd say you should be prepared to wait 30mins or more. Its such a shame as its really the only thing that lets the place down as the food is also brilliant.

The Alchemist was great, I was pleasantly surprised! It's much bigger than the one on New York st, and the service was pretty good. The food was great too, although the rice was slightly undercooked. It fortunately didn't detract from the overall meal, but it's something to be aware of. The decor and the theme really help to bring it all together though; they give the place a really good ambience. I liked The Alchemist before and now I like it even more.

The Alchemist We so need one of these in Belfast- it would go down an absolute storm! It always has a great atmosphere with inventive cocktails, a good wine list, and quality bar snacks, although a full menu is available in the restaurant next door. We had Milk & Honey in a brown medicine bottle, and a Banoffee Manhattan- a dubious looking concoction in what appeared to be a Petri dish, but delicious nonetheless! The cheeseboard “bar snack” was particularly generous and not overpriced . If you like theatrically camp cocktails with the wow factor , which still taste high-end, we can’t really think of anywhere better.

Theatrical, inventive, and instagrammable culinary disaster. I had the pan fried trout with a tomato, apricot, and strawberry salad and chili lime foam. The trout was overdone and over seasoned. The salad had one piece of strawberry, lots of dried apricots which did not work well with the other textures, and did not have a dressing that measured up to the apricot. The chili lime foam and negroni "caviar" were an interesting idea but added little flavor wise, and the slippery rubbery texture of the "caviar" was regrettable. I had a side of potatoes that was better but unevenly seasoned. I also had the bubble bath cocktail, which had the mouth feel of soup. A barrel aged negroni was on the weak side but fine. This was just one visit, but I get the impression of a place that caters to all the senses except taste.

Safe to say, this is by far one of the most notable cocktail bars in Manchester. An extensive cocktail list with a team of mixologists who really know what they're doing. We went on a friday night and the vibe was great, not too busy, awesome decor and a spacious outdoor area.

I would liken the Alchemist to Charlie and the Chocolate factory, as the cocktails these guys produce are something special. You order a cocktail off the list to see the bar staff whip out bunsen burners, beakers and all kinds of crazy concoctions. The cocktails are pricey here and the seating layout is quite awkward. If you want to sit outside on a busy night, you'll be waiting for a while to get seated but once you do, you'll be here for a very long time!
