We just called in for lunch just getting a sandwich and a drink . Not expecting to get some really nice chips and a nice portion of salad to go with the fabulous chicken a full chicken breast so moist and tasty with bacon on great soft bloomer bread . Well worth the money at . £5 49 . But you can have a three course meal for £9 49 . Mon _ fri lunch time . In a nice pub with nice friendly staff . A large carpark . I would definitely recommend it .we were so impressed with the lunch we went back for the steak night on thursdays .

This is by far the best bulls head I have been to, the food, customer service and the staff was excellent. Everything was gorgeous and we also had some some issues with the uber driver, which we could not resolve but the manager was so helpful. We got a buttermilk chicken burger, an ultimate burger and also 2 deserts. When the food arrived it was someone else's order. The manager was so helpful and apologetic, she herself drove us some fresh food within 20 minutes of me ringing explaining the situation. Both of us have thoroughly enjoyed everything, it was piping hot and exactly what we initially ordered. We will definitely be returning! Thank you to all the staff especially the manager that was so so lovely!💓

As a party of four we went in off chance for an evening meal. Straight away we were advised that it was a wait of approx 40 minutes for food to be served, which I appreciated. The food actually arrived around 20 minutes, so that was good. We ordered four different meals, and all arrived at the same time, so no-one was left waiting. A burger, a pasta dish, a Rib eye, and a rack of ribs, and we all agreed that each meal was really very good. All four plates were spotless. If I have one negative, it is that no wipes or finger bowl was provided with the ribs, to clean your fingers afterwards. Even cocktails are good at 2 for £7, after 5pm.

We recently had our daughters Christening party here, they sectioned off part of the pub and we ordered buffet A and desserts, it was absolutely lovely, we could not fault it and the staff could not do enough for us, they were brilliant! Highly recommended if you would like to book for a small party, our party consisted of 32 people and there was more than enough space, wonderful 👍👍👍😊😊😊

Lovely pub, the beer garden is large and catches the sun and they're following covid measures really well with sign in and social distending etc. The only reason I haven't put 5* is because the food is standard pub grub. Some of the food is great, others are essentially microwaved meals (think weather spoons - you'll never mind because it's served hot and displayed nice, and not expensive!!). The drinks are great though, well priced, clean pumps for ale and the lager / soft drinks aren't flat.

Usually a nice atmosphere, and on this occasion only visited for drinks. The real ales are generally a bit "hit or miss" in this pub. Sometimes you get a cracking pint, but often it tastes a bit stale. Not sure if not pulled through at the start of the session, if lines not very clean, or just approaching the end of the barrel. We went out for 3 pints, but decided to leave after 2....... Draw your own conclusions!

This is my go to pub, its fairly local to me and I can't help but feel comfortable every time I attend. Today there was 16 adults and 8 children for my birthday meal. Wow. What a service, every plate of food was piping hot, fresh and delicious. Jan was absolutely amazing with the service, she always goes the extra mile. Thanks so much. Never disappointed when I come here. Really reasonable prices. Would highly recommend.

Called in on Sunday for a couple of drinks, we ended up eating I had the sirloin steak and it was excellent nicest steak I've had for a while, great portions. lovely server couldn't do enough for us. my husband had the mixed grill again everything was delicious.very reasonable prices very relaxed atmosphere. So, I've been past this place so many times but never been in. We weren't even heading here but after a long day without anything to eat and a wrong turn we said let's give it a go! It's always seemed popular when we have paaed and I can understand why now. It felt inviting when we went in. It was warm and there was a faint aroma in the air of real fires burning (three in fact). Obviously, the time of day you visit makes a difference. We arrived just before 5:00pm so it was fairly quiet. We were however able to take advantage of the lunchtime special deal which was about to finish. If you're looking for fine dining, this is not for you. For a well cooked basic meal, the sort you may make at home, it was great and at less than £20.00 for two for a two course meal with drinks.....it's a steal. It felt homely and family orientated with great staff looking after us. It's clean....everywhere! No Sky Sports blaring, no pool tables just a quietly playing TV showing BBC1. Would we go again.....definitely. Just what we needed. Thanks guys.

My wife and I visited the other day. We were unhappy with the main course my wife had ordered. I spoke with the staff there and they were more than happy to change the meal. The level of care they demonstrated and their helpfulness was fantastic. There was one lady who we spoke with. Unfortunately I didn't get her name but she had short brown hair and glasses, she was just brilliant. We would definitely go back again.

We've been coming to this pub for a long time and it's got pros and cons. The food in my opinion has always been great. As it's with the ember inns chain it's the same food all over the country and there's plenty of variety. What lets it down is the staff. I don't know if it's the management, lack of training or maybe understaffed but they never seem happy. It can be quite off putting having food delivered by someone who doesn't seem to want to be there! My mum has got several complaints from the staff for ordering a latte and on occasion she has paid for it at the bar and they have forgotten to make it at all; she had to go remind them. It usually takes at least 10 mins+ to arrive. The other problem is always the tables which must only get wiped once a day. Other than that, the decor is lovely and seems to have been refurbished with new tables and chairs. In the winter there are log fires throughout (1 real, 2 gas) which give a fantastic dining/drinking experience.

Just had a meal here. Started with soup which was cold. Main meal was a roast pork dinner. The parsnips were rock hard, the roast potatoes were tough and the meal was cold. When asked how my meal was I decided not to be too English and told them the truth. Subsequently the Manageress came over and said that the chef had said that the meals were "temperature tested" before leaving the kitchen. Either they mean cold or I am a liar. He also said "he was sorry the meal wasn't to my liking". Well, well, draw your own conclusions.

Fabulous staff doing an arduous job on bar and on food on an extremely busy bank holiday Monday. The popularity of The Bulls Head is evident on the number of guests that visit here. We dropped in Bank Holiday Monday for a bite to eat and a few drinks. The beer garden is the big selling point here as it catches the sun for a significant part of the day. The food menu suggests that they really love cask ale. This was a huge disappointment. There was only one ale on tap and that was poorly kept. The food started well with the Nacho's being good quality and value for money. The mains were not as good however, with a limp lettuce leaf and dry carrot and cabbage as the 'slaw' element of the plate letting the presentation down badly. The burgers and chips we ordered were reasonable in quality and cost. Overall a reasonable experience, the beer issue will however mean that a future visit is unlikely. There are simply better beer offers locally and superior food offerings at the same price point.

Arrived during a day in half term week February. I felt so sorry for the barmaid & waitress on duty, simply because they were inondated with families wanting lunch, the queue was out of the door. Management had clearly underestimated the demand for their services during half term week & had not placed enough staff on duty. The poor staff ie One barmaid & one waitress were completely exhausted, but did their best under the very stressful circumstances. We had to wait over an hour for our meal, which was both stressful & inconvenient because we had very hungry impatient small children.

Nice pub but on our visit there were loads of students so beer garden was really loud with kids screaming to each other and the toilets were an absolute mess. I've drove past The Bulls head millions of times yet i have never visited there until today as a Applewood was full as usual, Anyhow... The Bulls head i found was a nice enough surprise the place itself appeared nice enough looking inside and out, menu had a okay selection of food too choose from with average prices and the lager seem a decent enough pint :) Personally it wouldn't be my first choice as id say the food there was good rather than brilliant and im still preferring the Menu selection, amount food given and quality of Applewood but i did prefer the pint at The Bulls Head ! either way should i be passing by and Applewood is full (very likely) i would quite happily go here again. I would also like too mention that when we visited it was with a 4 and 9 year old so children was allowed unlike some older reviews mentioned here.

My wife and I visited Ember Inns - Bulls Head at Astley on Thursday 12th Sep 2013 The pub is very modern and clean and the staff friendly but unfortunately the member of staff who dealt with us ( we didn't get her name ) wasn't very well trained and also the till/computer didn't seem to be user friendly. She was obviously unfamiliar with the system and consequently several mistakes were made during ordering process. We were ordering their ' Two main courses for £8 ' offer which we had seen on their website. Firstly, the battered Whiting with chips with mushy peas at no extra cost and also gammon with lattice chips at .95p extra. A pint of Carlsberg and a large glass of rose wine were also ordered at the same time When the total cost came to £18 75 this was queried as it seemed a lot considering the food only cost £8.95 The barmaid re-checked the till computer and found she had ' pressed the wrong button ' and that a refund of £1.50 was due but she couldn't do this without the approval of the manager and had to find him and bring him to the till to explain what had happened when the refund was was duly given All this took about ten minutes but everything then seemed to be OK Unfortunately the inefficiency continued as when the meals arrived mine had no mushy peas and my wife's had ordinary chips instead of lattice. The waitress (who was the barmaid who did the order in the first place) apologised and departed to arrive back a few minutes later with the correct meals. The saving grace was that the meals were actually very good. However, owing to the inefficiency and mistakes made we will not be returning to the Bull's Head in a hurry as there are many good food serving pubs in competition with Ember Inns in our area that are far more customer conscious .
